Tour Snaps
The fan pics generally need a little help in the post-production department, which I am glad to provide, seeing as how one of my stupid human tricks is photo retouching. Still, it’s impressive how many really good images have come out of the tour so far. I don’t suppose that could have anything to do with the fact that David never takes a bad picture (what’s up with that?!).
To paraphrase Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, “you wouldn’t love an artist just because he’s pretty, but my goodness, doesn’t it help?”
Thanks to the original photographers. Click the images for a larger view.

From what everyone has said who has seen him in person these pics just don’t touch the surface of the glorious glow from his complexion that is flawless and his eyes are crystal green that are piercing when he looks at you. He is such a down to earth young man with so much love in his heart for his craft as well as his fellow man that might have something to do with every picture being so awesome. Who knows. This kid has captiviated the hearts of millions. I haven’t seen anything like this since ELVIS. Have you seen the latest gimmick for contacting David while he is on tour? It’s a cell number you can call and leave a message, which they say he will listen to. Okayyyyyyyyyyyyyy just IMAGINE the number of calls. I’m going to see him when they come to Atlanta in August. My excitement is over the moon to say the least. Glad to see you back, we haven’t heard very much from you lately. I for one have missed you.
Man o Man, what a pretty face. Thanks Rascal. I needed a fix for my ODD. His EYES!!!! They just shine with goodness.
Can’t wait to see him sept in Tulsa.
Does anyone know where to get a t-shirt with his face on the front?
Would love to have one for him to sign.
Kait: Have you decided to go to the Tulsa show too?
Drove 8 hours from Colorado to see David in SLC. What an amazing experience! Didn’t take advantage of any of the autograph sessions, not an autograph seeker. However, I have since regretted not going and just getting to experience him upclose and personal. After the tour you wonder how many opportunities people are going to have like this with him.
He is truly breathtaking in person -- especially when he’s standing less than 5″ from your face. Phew….a friend just sent me some pix from my SLC trip and they are so clear -- David is just so magical.
Thanks rascal for finding some of the best ones out there for us all to obsess over
Hugs!
Does anyone know the story behind the silver necklace that David’s been wearing recently?
Love these pics. He simply cannot take a bad pic.
I just wanted to post this here too because I thought it was rather cute and more importantly I think it shows how much he wants to meet the fans and such. It was a just a cute little thing but I think he really wanted to get down there and be with the fans.
Its from toronto where he wasnt able to get down at all, from what I understand, to meet the fans before the show due to press. about half the idols I dont think came down before hand.
He’s motioning to them and saying he cant come down there. But then he kinda jumps at the window like he’s going to break out of the room. It was fun and cute but I bet he wanted so much to go down there and be with the fans.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ng17js03bcg
and because Im such a scatterbrain, here is the other one when alot of the idols were at the windows, Then David appears and they go crazy. He’s just waving and smiling and waving some more. At the end he gives them the sign.

#1 slvrfox -- I agree with you. I’ve just seen David in Indianapolis a few days ago. If you are going to see him next month, you MUST go to the pre-concert meet and greet. I have photos of him up close myself and his eyes, in person, just melt your heart in a good way ! His eyes are just gorgeous! There is no way to explain it. My sister and I were so happy that we got to see David up close before the show. He is extremely handsome. I am 50 years old and my sister is 54!
Folk, brace yourselves:

This video of SBM in Toronto last night just might be the best yet. Be sure to click the ‘watch in high quality’ link, and then the little full-screen icon. It’s amazing… or I should say, David is amazing.
And Apologize too from the same person. Great closeups. Even includes our old friend the “Archuleta lip lick” at 1:55!

You’ve returned!!! SQUEEEEEEEAAAAAAALLLLLLLL! LOL
#2 picture! That’s it! Utterly amazing shot. Everyone always says the eyes have it, but I think it’s that smile!! One of the best pix from the tour!! IMHO
That quote is hilarious!!!
Casey, I saw those vids and they are fantastic.
One of my favorite photos still to date is from Portland(those I love those pics above).
When one fan had asked him his favorite bible verse, and he wasnt exactly sure what it was, knew the name psalms 101, but he proceded to flip through the bible to try and find it. He was just standing there on the railing and trying to see if he could find the exact passage. He looked so focused on what he was doing. Handed the bible back to the lady and said it was something about singing. lol

Thinkofme is right; if you want to meet David, you must hit the pre-concert meet and greet at the buses. David consistently comes out or at least makes an appearance if he is really in a rush. Get there early to get in front so you will be able to easily meet him when he comes by. Make sure to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and snacks with you, as these areas are often in the blazing sun and heat at the bus docks. Once you get a good place in front of the crowd along the barricades, you don’t want to leave and lose your spot.
I met him in Indy, too, and this strategy worked out great for us! As he comes down, watch for people trying to push their way to the front. Some can get a little rude. The fans near me would help each other and let different people to the front when their Idol walked by. One guy was fanatical about Carly and we switched places a few times. (Carly is a real class act, by the way!)
He also usually comes out at the buses after the concert (once he’s done with the post-concert official meet and greet inside), but your chances there are much slimmer because there are usually hundreds or even more than a thousand people there.
Thanks, Rascal, for the great pics. And to frogcooke and caseydog for the vids. I was at the Toronto pre-show and concert yesterday and although it was so disappointing for the HUGE Archie-dominated crowd that he couldn’t come down beforehand, he made a point of trying to connect with us even from a 2nd floor window — what a guy.
(I thought maybe he didn’t come down for security reasons — it was their biggest pre-show turnout yet, apparently, but the venue wasn’t prepared for the numbers. David’s security guy came out to check the flimsy barricades, shook his head and said “This is terrible” and I had to agree — safety first!)
And SBM was an absolutely show-stopper, brought the house down and he changed up the ending… amazing. He even sang a little improv riff of “O Canada,” which sent us wild, of course.
It’s funny how some of the others have to ask the audience to “get louder” etc. to stoke the crowd, but all David has to do is sing and be himself, and the cheering bursts forth spontaneously (you’ll see, it’ll happen to you!).
And don’t worry, Rascal, David’s voice soars well above the entire crowd, filling every corner and rafter.
To #5, Julie Marie, the necklace was given to him by a jewelry designer from Arizona. I believe she somehow knows the Archuletas, and David picked this design out. It is from a new collection that is being currently photographed and should be posted on her website by the end of next week (this was her update as of yesterday). The website, if you want to peruse it is: http://www.gem-n-iandcodesigns.com./about.htm
My wife and I hold tickets to the Wilkes Barra concert in September (this is such a long summer LOL) and we are anxiously awaiting that time. Previoulsy it would not have occurred to me to meet any entertainer prior to or after a show but I am looking forward to greeting David prior to that show (yeah im the ODD one, she’s a Cookie)! David is an incredible talent and couple that with his genuine interest in his fans and I think years from now you will still see the kind of devotion from his fans that only Elvis had. No one knows the future but that is not beyond the realm of imagination.
#8thinkofme…Thank you so much for the reply.I’m not a spring chicken either but I have to tell you if I can get to the meet and greet I will. I honestly don’t think I have ever been so moved or anyone as I am over David James. He is absolutely precious. It’s so funny to watch him when he’s having an interview because that’s when he becomes awkward and painfully shy, but when that music starts he’s HOT and noone can touch him….Unreal…..I must watch everything he does hundreds of times. It’s ridiculous I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I can’t seem to get enough of this kid. I’ll tell you what his single and album can’t come fast enough.
I just love David’s smile! I don’t think I have ever seen a photo of him where he wasn’t smiling or grinning somewhat. His character is what I love the most, however. I think that is what makes him shine and stand out so much. He just has an inner beauty that reveals itself through the things he says and does. David has a genuinely good heart and he truly loves his fans, which make us love him that much more! I am counting down the days until I see him in Charlotte, N.C. on August 17!! I can’t believe I am wishing my summer away but, that concert just can’t get here soon enough!
Rascal,
Thanks so much for the fabulous pictures. I am a hopelessly addicted fan who needs to hear David’s voice everyday. Thanks for helping out with your great articles, pictures and video links!
I was fortunate enought to meet David in SLC, and I can agree with the comments above. He is a remarkably attractive young man. But it goes deeper than that. People often talk of certain people having “star power” or “it” or some indescribably quality. David has that. I have never seen anything like it, frankly.
When I met him and had the opportunity to chat with him the only word that describes him is AURA:
a subtly pervasive quality or atmosphere seen as emanating from a person, place, or thing.
That is the young man, David Archuleta.
Perhaps in my old age I should proofread my comments….
“the only word that describes him is having an aura about him”
There are two photos of David which I believe show his beauty is from the inside. This is just a kid bursting with joy from within. Though David’s appearance is not what is important to me, to see photos that show his beauty is from within is I feel worth posting, He is just as friendly as they come:

HoustonRufus #20, I you’ve described exactly how I feel for David James. Like lots of people, It’s hard for me to express exactly how I feel. I have been reading other peoples’ messages but never posted much. This is just my 3rd one. I just could not help myself this time but to tell everyone how I adore this kid. He is more than just a handsome face. You are quite right. I’ve never seen anything like David A. either. Really, those of you who have not seen him or listen to him in person, you really must go. I live in chicago but could not go to the one at Rosemont. Could get anyone to cover me at work, so I word double duty when I came back from Indy. Got lost a couple of times by the Indy/Illinois border due to constructions but I made it on time for the pre-concert meet and greet. I had not eaten all day and had a terrible headache to boot, but I am so happy that I got to meet David.
Rascal, Thank you for the pics and thanks again for your thoughts and hearts to David, our wonderful talent!
Oh Rascal, I was so happy to find your post today! I have been checking in daily and always love to read your thoughts. Please don’t go away again!
The pictures are awesome! For the sake of time, I am going to ditto all of the above comments! What a great group! Isn’t this fun to be a part of a super star in the making! Actually, super star just doesn’t quite encompass everything that he is… the heart, humility, personality, and inspiration but you all understand that. Can any one star possibly be loved more than we love this kid? I don’t think so!
Can’t wait until he gets to Atlanta!!
Rascal,
Thank you for these great pictures -- best ones I’ve seen so far. Post #1 -- my thoughts and feelings exactly upon meeting him in Tacoma. He does have that out of this world aura about him, piercing green eyes and a peace (amidst the screaming fans) that’s very calming. I thought I would be squealing/screaming like a total fan girl or act like a complete fool but I was surprisingly calm. A sense of reverence came over me -- it was weird! I didn’t want to take my eyes off him even for a second because I wanted to savor each moment. He was very kind and gentle and gracious to everyone -- accommodating each request. Words cannot express how much I adore this young man and how much I respect him for his talent & the person that he is.
Haha, of course not, I don’t mind a breathtakingly good looking David James Archuleta at all
hmm….. his handsome face is just the icing on the cake aside his inner beauty, masterclass vocals, musical talents and other talents we have come to know and yet to know.
Those pics are lip-licking worthy. His eyes and smile.
Post #27 -- Yes, David does have the ‘out of this world aura’ about him. I know what you mean about his ‘piercing green eyes and peace’ that is calming. I was very tired and worn out when I went back to work after the Indy concert and I was so stressed out that I had trouble focusing/concentrating on my job. So at one point I just closed my eyes and I thought of David’s piercing green eyes and somehow, it’s so weird and I cannot explain it, but I felt very calm after that. It’s really great to know that I am not alone. If this has not happened to you personally, you have no idea what I’m talking about.
Also, in addition to #13 Freo’s tips, if you want to enjoy David’s singing in person, don’t bother to video tape! You will miss out on hearing his voice. It was a blessing that my camera ran out of memory before David sang the last song,Groban’s song, because I vaguely remember the first 3 songs that he sang while I was busy video taping. When he sang WYSYLM, his voice is amazing it gave me the chills! His voice is just breathtaking. I’m telling you, his set goes by so fast that you’d be saying to yourself, nooooooo, come back… sing some more, but it’s too late then.
#6,7 frogcooke, thanks for those video links. I would love to know Jason’s thoughts as he turns back into the room just as the crazy screams start. I am sure it was something really funny!
David really doesn’t take a bad picture. If it’s aura you want #2 is it! Do I sound like a broken record? That pix just reflects unabashed joy, undeniable gratitude, unwavering love, just pure happiness emanating from his whole face -- then I went back to figure out where that was taken and low and behold it was SLC. It is so clear now why, he was home!!!
Okay, I’ll stop now, serious ODD alert!!
Here’s hoping his CD pictures/artwork really capture his AURA!!!
Thanks for posting these pix! His eyes are simply beautiful! It’s like you can see right into his soul. I have been noticing that with a lot of these fan pictures, David is never caught with “red eyes” (as have some of the other idols). His eyes shine brightly, and they make him look both earthy and heavenly. He’s a sight to behold, and you’re right, Rascal: being gorgeous is a definite plus. Being super kind on top of his good looks and talent almost make him too much to handle!
Archie apparently loves Canada! lol here is his new video blog. lol

Aiyee! Those eyes!!! Here’s my experience of looking into them in Portland; it’s almost an unbearable experience.
True and Beautiful
I can’t look into your eyes
without losing all sense of direction
and the oars and life jackets
and the whole boat too.
It all drifts off downstream without me,
moving with the current of your love.
The inner constellations are beautiful
here inside your gaze.
The glittering galaxies,
the supernovas,
the quarks and gamma rays
are all drawn into your force field.
The whole universe stops, changes direction
and moves toward you—
a true and beautiful soul.
There you are,
shining through star-flecked amber jewels.
The space between here and heaven
is one molecule wide
and in the time it takes to formulate a sentence
to tell you of these things
I have forgotten all the words but these:
Your eyes are the trapdoors
that drop me into
a true and beautiful soul.

I have just read a report by one of Rickey.org’s cellcasters that 90% of those who attended the Toronto concert was there to support our little David. The support and screams for David was the loudest. I noticed David A smiled alot during his performances. He must be overwhelmed by the tremendous show of love and support from the audience in canada. I am so happy for him.
I am concerned that he looked tired and his voice coarse in his latest blog. I hope he does not overworked himself just to please the fans. He must have felt pretty bad that he could not meet his fans in the pre-concert for security reason.
Aw, what a sweetie! He does look tired in that new vlog.
Minna (highervibe), WOW that is a beautiful poem. It’s like there is another universe inside him, and you captured it so well in these words. Thank you for posting it. Since I cannot copy and paste it from here, could I ask you to put it on FB, or my thread on the FB forums? I would like to save it, if you don’t mind. It is really an incredible poem.
Rascal, I looove what you do with photos! The ones here are always above and beyond, now I know why!! ‘Stupid human trick’? I don’t think so!
It’s great hearing from folks on this site, all the above comments are wonderful. We couldn’t (didn’t know how) to get close to him in SLC, now I ‘m jealous when I read of so many others’ experiences, some more than once…so unfair!! You can surely feel his spirit when he sings in person, however, be ready Rascal! Can’t wait to read your reaction!
So happy to see a new article this morning, YIPEEEE!!
Looking at all these pictures of David and his aura and presence made me think of a Peter Gabriel song:
In your eyes
the light, the heat
In your eyes
I am complete
In your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
In your eyes
The resolution of all the fruitless searches
In your eyes
I see the light, the heat
In your eyes
Oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light, the heat I see
In your eyes
Yeah, about those eyes… if you meet David, write what you want to say on your hand or something because as soon as he looks at you, you’ll forget what you were going to say. It happened to me and I was kicking myself the whole way home after the concert. I didn’t embarass myself, but I didn’t get to tell him what I wanted to say about his music. He just looked up at me with those hazel lasers and wiped my memory clean. Doh!
Can any of us ever get enough of David? He is just gorgeous, there’s such a special aura about him that is evident even in snapshots. While watching David sing on Idol (and on YouTube reruns), so many of us could literally FEEL the emotions he was trying to convey even though we were not there in person. Same with the pictures--most of us will never get that close to David but we can still FEEL his sweet spirit coming through the photos. Is this boy special or what? No one can tell me that he isn’t here to light up an increasingly dark world. Every time David sings he is like a ray of sunshine to our souls.
I don’t even know where to begin, other than to just blurt it out..
Not only did we meet David & get autographs & amazing photos at the autograph signing (pre-show), but we also got to go back into a private room.. JUST THE 5 OF US… to meet each of the Idols!!!!
It is SUCH a long story, and we promised the Idol who helped us do this that we would not reveal how it all came down. It took some effort, but it worked out — and we got our USO banners signed (to be hung in the new FT Drum USO center for soldiers).. and more autographs, and GREAT conversations with all of the Idols. No pics were allowed at this (unlike the usual meet and greets) because there just was not time. But I have photos from earlier that day where we got autos.
I am now a fan of EACH AND EVERY IDOL. Not only were they kind, engaging, relaxed, and down to earth -- they treated our kids so sweetly and compassionately.. giving them hugs & asking them questions about their dads service, and when they were coming home, etc.
Ramiele was particularly sweet… she was extremely tiny!
Chikezie was so warm, with a genuine smile -- and made complete eye contact, as did Michael… In fact, they were ALL equally nice.
(I’ll get to DA in a second)
The girls were absolutely gorgeous… which I expected — but they had gorgeous personalities to match.
They all seemed genuinely excited to receive the girls’ gifts (personalized, real U.S. Army dog tags).. Kristy Lee wore hers on stage, and dedicated God Bless The USA to the “little girl (and her mom) whose daddy is in Iraq, and who gave her the dog tags earlier that day.” My friend’s daughter let out the most UNBELIEVABLE squeal of her LIFE… LOL I bet it’s audible on a youtube clip if there is one!
David Cook immediately wore his dog tags, too -- wore them during his performance as well (he had SO many necklaces on, I don’t know how he dealt with it -- LOL).
They all wrote wonderful messages to the soldiers on the USO banners… and I got an opportunity to talk with David Cook about going to MD Anderson Cancer CTR in Houston… put the bug in his ear.
I hope they might be able to do that .. I told him my friend, Christie, wants to have lunch with him in her room there… (with some humor, of course, as I’m sure this is an impossibility- couldn’t hurt to ask though). We discussed his upcoming trip to D.C. to meet with Sen Kennedy & discuss Cancer funding!
O.k.. now for David Archuleta…
When he came out for the pre show autographs, he had a constant smile, was incredibly accommodating -- especially given there were a LOT of people pulling him in all directions. His Dad was up on the level above us, looking down every once in a while -- and he was SOOO friendly & “smiley”.
I immediately got the sense that David is tired. He signed my daughter’s shirt & was sooo soooo friendly, but you know when you can tell that someone is verging on exhaustion? I got that impression with ALL of the Idols. I think the fast pace of the schedule is kickin’ their hineys now. I don’t know how they do it…
When meeting David later (in back-stage-like room), he was really busy chatting with Kristy Lee. He seemed tired.. I don’t know why I was getting that feeling, but I decided only to shake his hand and thank him for being so kind as to sign our banner and for his music… then Kristi Lee and I began talking about her father’s military service, and the “minder” was moving us along.
I’m actually glad, tho, that I didn’t chat his ear off as I had imagined I might.. as this way I didn’t do anything I would regret later (something fangirly and the things that going-to-school-naked-dreams are made of). I was just so glad to have met him. He’s everything other fans have said.. and more.
I have to add that as I finished talking with K.L., Ramiele & Syesha, I hear my daughter (next to me, face to face with J.C.) say, “Jason! DUUUUUUDE!” Jason laughed.. and I couldn’t believe my daughter… it was so funny (and harder to describe). Just trust me.. it was FUNNY.
As we left, David Cook gave out HUGS to the girls and to us…. and Ramiele came over and gave us hugs and was soooo sincere.
I would be remiss to leave out two things worthy of noting:
1. Chikezie is an amazing entertainer, and you just want to hug him, sit down, and chat with him forever.
2. Michael Johns is an incredibly nice person -- spent so much time talking to his fans and to us, and MUCH better live than I could have imagined.
3. Syesha’s last song made the hair stand up on the back of my neck, goosebumps on my arms, and tears in my eyes. I hope someone has it on youtube… in a word: IMPRESSIVE. I realized why she was in the top 3 immediately.
4. David’s voice is DEEPER… I’m sure of it! He effortlessly carries across the auditorium with a tone that is spine chilling (in a good way, of course), and his facial expressions (yes -- EYES CLOSED) tell his audience how deeply he is feeling every word, and he’s as close to bearing his soul as a human can come.
5. Carly Smithson is AMAZING… as are ALL the Idols… I was completely educated on why these guys are the top 10.
I probably shouldn’t mention this, but the Review the local paper gave was just absurd… write the drive-by-author and tell him what you think of his lack of journalistic skills if you are so inclined:
http://www.democratandchronicle.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008807280328
I will try to post some AMAZING pics I have of David, and the idols, as well as video, etc ASAP.
Thanks for letting me rattle on Rascal…
Really enjoyed (again) reading your latest comments/blog .. and the artwork is superb!
Rascal… omg… I’m so sorry my blog entry (above) is so long!!!
I really must learn to edit myself better, but I’m still on my “high”..
forgive me!!
One of the most beautiful people in the world. Gorgeous and fascination! One of this day he will receive this recognition.
Great blog rascal, as always.
Hi Tinuviel, thanks! OK, the poem’s on FB for you—with the *first* post of David’s latest vlog, comment #98.
bigsky-Thanks for the blog! I felt like I was with you…wishing I was! September cannot come soon enough! Imagine me thinking he couldn’t get any better, then I saw his youtube vids of Toronto! WOW, I was BLOWN AWAY! My ODD is kickin’!!! Can we skip August? (kiddin’ vacationers)!
Hi, Sharon! Greetings to you from Karen in Spokane. I remember feeling the same way when I saw David there in Tacoma. Pittsburgh was AWESOME, by the way!
In the beautiful picture above, David is searching for this favorite bible verse--Psalms 101:1. It reads in the King James version which is what we use: “I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing.” Does that fit David or what? Any question why he might have chosen that as a favorite?
