Studies Show: Smoking Causes ODD
Although clinical trials are only in the planning stages due to the recentness of the outbreaks (the earliest symptoms were reported in March of this year), epistemological studies indicate a correlation between visual stimuli resulting in a rise in body temperature and increased symptoms, including forgetfulness, hypnagogia, and perpetual grinning. Although many sufferers report concern on the part of family and friends, certain forms of ODD reportedly have the opposite effect, inducing those close to the individual to observe an overall mood elevation. Researchers warn that this form of ODD may be particularly insidious, resulting in a failure of those in contact with the sufferer to recognize the condition. Although the affliction was known to include visual triggers, not until this week have researchers concluded that such components may in certain cases cause severe symptoms. Study participants still maintain that the primary inducing factor is aural stimulation.

Whoa! I’m sorry but I have to comment on that pic! Did David know the expression he was sporting when that pic was taken? Can anybody seriously deny that he’s sexy? Massive attacks of ODD would have been induced by that pic alone and there is no cure, although I must say that moribund hearts would be automatically kicked started back to life with this picture.

Drove 8 hours with my sister and husband (we needed a chauffer) from Colorado to SLC to see David. Surreal experience. After returning home, people would comment that we must have had a really good time on vacation because I was really smiling (they had no idea we went to see David. I was a little embarrased to admit to my ODD.)
Now I have just succumbed -- it’s frutile to try and resist. I don’t listen to anything but his mp3′s; I no longer watch TV -- when I have exhausted all searches online for any new info on David, I then turn to my HD videos of his AI performances and grin myself into oblivion. I am hooked for life, line and sinker -- and I couldn’t be happier!

David is so smoldering, so impossibly beautiful, from the tips of his spiky hair on down the glorious journey to his feet. I used to have a list of the top 5 pics that destroyed my life, but this one blows them all out of the water! This photoshoot is the worst thing that could have possibly happened LOL! What I especially love about your post is that I can fit the entire post on my screen without cutting off any of the picture of David… let’s me take a break every five words or so to digest what you have written while experiencing my varied ODD symptoms as I gaze at the photo, without having to scroll up and down. I am surprised that I havn’t already worn out my mouse from previous such exercises.

Actually, the Firstimer was converted when she came in contact with David at the meet & greet. She said he was gorgeous. Then she was hypnotized and mesmerized at the concert..ha-ha. WELCOME TO THE CLUB! NOW. about the pic….whew boy, I said it before and I’ll continue to say it…right now he is just coming into his own…wait a couple of years, he will be a Sex SYMBOL of the highest magnitude..there will be nothing he can do about it except maybe join a monastery and cover himself head to toe! Personally my wish is for David to embrace the fact that he gives so much joy just by being in the same universe with us and his beauty and sensuality is a fact of his and our life. (THANK YOU GOD!) My reaction Marylee, is “come hither.” (oh dear) as you said the other day. I wouldn’t mind driving up there, but my husband would surely say I lost it, and I don’t want anything to spoil the concert. What I’ll be looking for, more than anything in that arena tonight, is the resonant, pure, powerful voice that everyone keeps talking about. I’ve dreamed about that for a month now.
You can bet that I WILL be scouting out Jeff however, for a couple of Meet ‘n Greet passes. Keep your fingers crossed for me on that one!
By the way, not sure if you guys know this, but it was reported on Fanblast that David’s song was #1 on Z100 last night at the 9:00 p.m. countdown…this is the same station where his song was played for the first time. It is also being (counted down) in Miami where my son lives…he called me last night just to report that he had heard it and liked it…he actually volunteered that info…I didn’t even coax him!

That picture is my favorite. I wonder if David really knows how attractive he is. I mean it’s not like he woke up this morning looking this way. Since he lost the little boy pudge, he’s been a spectacular looking young man. Add in that voice, both speaking and singing, and what do you get…..trouble, lol.
The voice, the smile, the giggle, the “hmmm,” and now the smoldering looks. Dang it, it’s more than I can handle. I want so much to meet him in a smaller, relaxed venue (Meet and Greet, or After Party). Is finding Jeff the only way to do that? Is there a gathering before AND after the show? Any advice?

#38/davidfanLIZ: Yes, to the best of my knowledge, there is a before & after autograph signing (Meet & Greets)…I suppose it is the same at each venue. For the before session, all you have to do is show up and secure a place in line (I think they suggest 12:00 noon) even though the busses sometimes come rolling in much later…the after party I believe requires passes and it is my understanding that Jeff Archuleta is the person to see. I have also heard that the contestants sometimes give out passes (Syesha has given out some in the past according to some concert goers that posted).

OMGosh!!! Is he the most adorable thing ever! Wow, what a way to start the day. The ODD is really kicking in already. I’m laughing so hard about everyone talking about smelling him. I just have to tell you, when me and my mom went to the LA show at Staples Center, my mom, 78 years old, finally got up with me to meet David. She couldn’t help herself and started kissing his neck and tickling him. She still talks about how sweet smelling he was and how soft his skin on his neck was. How adorable is that! My mom calls him her other grandson. We are full on ODD for DAVID!

#38/davidfanLIZ: I believe there are a few different ways to get passes to meet David, but most are hard to come by. I was able to get “after party/meet and greet” passes at the recent Nassau Coliseum concert. I got them through a connection, (my husband went to high school with one of the partner’s of CAA -- the agency that represents American Idol). They gave me a choice of before and after passes. For the before passes for that “meet and greet,” which supposedly is mandatory for the Idols to attend, you have to be there at 3:30PM and I unfortunately, couldn’t do that. The after party is less formal and it is not mandatory for everyone to be there, however, I believed that David would be -- because of his loyalty and appreciation for his fans.
It was an amazing experience to meet him but I just wanted “MORE.” The place was packed, I had to wait on a long line to greet him and when I got there I was just at a loss for words. I felt I was blubbering and incoherent -- seeing him up so close just took my breath away. I just wanted to really talk to him and let him know how much his voice and everything about him means to me. Instead, I turned to mush….I did get a great picture and a hug, which I will cherish forever.
His dad, Jeff, didn’t have anyone around him so I spent some time talking with him. It was a much calmer conversation -- we obviously talked about David, but we also talked about music in general and living in NYC. It was nice because I grew up in NYC and he asked me a lot of questions about that. All in all, it was an experience I will never forget.

About the meet & greets -- most of us that have met David were able to meet him at the buses before the concert or after the show. Sometimes after the show they decide to come out for autographs, I don’t know how they decide which shows, unless it is just based upon their schedule. So, stick around after the show and see if they are putting up barricades, and if lots of security guards are walking around.

#78/silverfoxe: I envy everyone that has met him too…I know you will all think I’ve lost my mind, but I have no official plans to attend a concert (but still debating it). The closest venue to me is Charlotte, NC on the 17th of this month (about 3 hours from my home)…it’s not the distance so much as it is “issues”…I have contemplated getting up early that morning and driving down there & coming back the same night. I would be making the trip alone. The more I think about it, the closer I am to deciding in favor of going. One of my biggest concerns is the desire to be able to actually HEAR him sing and, with all the screams, I’m not sure I would be able to…I suppose the best thing to do is just scream right along with everyone else!
Oh My Gosh Marylee -- you are questioning going to the concert!?
GO. You will hear him and it will be worth it. I went twice in Utah -- arguably the loudest concerts on the tour and had no difficulty hearing him. There is nothing like that voice and you will regret it if you miss your chance!
#78silverfoxe, It’s funny you bring up the movie Michael. That’s what I see as how he affects everyone. When I was in the huge group of girls swarming him to get a picture and autograph, he kept looking right at me and smiling. All I can say is…..melt…..I felt his wonderful energy and there’s as if there is a halo around him, just gloreous. I felt very spiritually connected instantly.
#81 I understand completely cause the thing is that even if I go to the concert doesn’t guarantee I will actually meet David…maybe see him from afar at the barricade…I would be tooo nervous to even approach him, after all I have grown children for goodness sakes! I’m not a teen-bopper…but just to hear him in concert..well that would be heaven. Then I think, why not wait for his own concert where he can really show even more of his versatility. #84- I am certainly no teeny booper either and I felt very shy about going to meet the buses (twice!) but now is now and there will never be another moment when David is seventeen and so available. Go early, stand at the barricades and give him the love and thanks that you want to give him and that he so richly deserves. He is entirely sweet and gentle, nothing to fear!
#82 & 84: I know, I know, I know….I almost didn’t post that I was still undecided because I knew I would get bombarded….part of me says wait until he tours alone, but on the other hand, I keep telling myself that I will regret not going now. Archu_adorable, I understand the personal space thing, but when my mom of 78 years old, who is shorter than David, got her chance with him, she couldn’t help herself. She’s everyone’s mom and grandma, one of those, and as great as David is, he just let her and laughed. We’ve been fans of Davids since Star Search and my brother has know Jeff since early college days, so we go way back. But, it’s okay, I understand. At least I didn’t do it. That would be weird, (like David would say)

Rascal… I know this has been said over and over, but this really is the best site! That starts of course, with you and your writings (love you!) but OMG the fans! I am just cracking up with these posts! Love you all!
I’m sure David would laugh, Erin, because he is so gracious. But that doesn’t mean he didn’t think it was wierd. Yes, probably better that a ‘grandma’ figure did it, and I certainly am not judging your mom, but I saw a ‘grandma’ (late 70′s) being separated from David by his handler because she couldn’t keep her hands off him and was otherwise making a fool and a pest of herself. If you don’t know someone personally, inappropriate behavior has no age limit.
I’m just hoping that people can think of their interactions from David’s point of view, and not just of how they couldn’t help themselves. We all know he’d much rather hear comments about how we respect him as an artist, than just how cute or hot he is or how he’s going to be their future husband or son-in-law.
I know this is my personal thing and that many will not agree with me. Just food for thought. This is the kind of behavior that we reserve for babies. I might sniff, kiss and tickle my friend’s baby, but that would stop when they turned two or three. Even though David is a public figure, he’s not public property.
Again, please don’t misunderstand. I’m sure David will get many more sniffs, tickles and kisses and will take it graciously and (hopefully) with no harm done. The fanbase is not going to be controlled, I would just hope most of us would respect him as a real person with boundaries and not just an object -- picture at the top notwithstanding

#95 Marylee! I live right down the road from you in Garner off Highway 70! My brother and his wife live off Guy Rd. in Clayton, I go there to visit and used to shop at the SuperWalmart until the new one on 401 opened up. I work in Cary, my parents live nearby.
How ironic that David will be in North Carolina while I am vacationing in Utah.
Loved that pic of David! He hasn’t even reached physical maturity yet. Can you picture him in another decade? He will be drop-dead gorgeous--even more than he is now. And his voice hasn’t even “settled,” it will only get richer. How can he be better than he already is? I predict that in a few more years he will have the world at his feet and girls (and grown woman) practically fainting at the sight of him. He almost makes me wish I was 17 again--almost, not quite. What a great young man, he has it all!
By the way, I finally came out of the closet and confessed my ODD to my parents who were amused but admitted that David is a safe addiction, I could do a lot worse! I made them promise not to tell anyone else.

I have always enjoyed so much the eloquent, erudite comments on this blog by Rascal and all of you on the artistry of David Archuleta. I’m sure much more of it will be forthcoming as we continue this journey with him. But watching you all go from that to all fan girly, ” OMG, I love him SO much! He is so hot!” has been intensely satisfying for one who has fought and lost that battle long ago. Embracing the totality of your ODD is to embrace the totality of David. It’s just the way it is.

Gosh, this one is my No. 1 favorite in all the shots. I love that look on his face, the way he leant against the fence, and those speaking eyes! This is the only one I copied to my file, and keep going back to look at it. It fascinate me, what was running in his mind at that moment? Its kind of related to the first time I saw James Dean’s photo; it caused a pang in my heart. But David’s make me dreamy and that far away feelings. ODD at its highest level. I just can’t put into words my feelings.
Hi Barbs, got to tell you your encounter with David about the used tissues was hilarious. I have your story in “my favorite” and go back regularly to read it and it always left me in stitches. Hope your plot to get to your 4th concert is successful.
Rascal, it’s great we can have so much fun talking about our case of ODD. I can’t believe how obsessed I am and how many symptoms I share with all of you. I hope Barbs would not mind that I’m copying and pasting here part of her story of meeting David in Pittsburgh. It was one of the funniest fan stories I’ve read. For the whole story (worth reading!), go to Fanblast, go to page 2 (or click on “previous page” at the bottom) and scroll past the announcement of Crush’s premiering. To give some context, earlier in the day Barbs helped David by providing tissue to wipe his sweat off of his face: “I grinned hugely in the car all the way back to the hotel, and laughed hysterically as I recalled the moment when I was handed the signed tissue, and David’s expression as he realized I was holding his sweat soaked tissues. It is rather a miracle I didn’t drive off the road. It didn’t occur to me until I was half way to the hotel, that I had the perfect opportunity to answer a burning fangirl question. In my right palm was exactly what David Archuleta smells like. So, I admit it. I sniffed. I’d seen it written that David smells like cinnamon sugar and nutmeg. What it really is, is cocoa butter (possibly soap, but more likely sunscreen), and faint bite of sun-warmed teenage male pheromones, similar to, but not, nutmeg. I recognized the smell from the two years I worked at a water slide park in my teens, and from my first love, a lifeguard there. As if I needed another layer of aromatic nostalgia to add to my love of this boy. Good grief.”
Rascal, you couldn’t have chosen a better word for this pic. SMOKING is the word. Thank you, I love this place! Love it so much that I missed watching the Beijing Summer Olympic opening on TV!
oh one more thing, Rascal, I’m so impressed you worked on the picture yourself. I certainly could do that too myself but I haven’t even considered doing it. At most I thought I could go download some images from Getty without the watermark but even that I haven’t done yet, as I’m kept so busy reading and more reading all things Archuleta, watching and downloading videos, and saving pictures, etc. etc. it’s crazy! I keep telling my husband and friends my case of ODD isn’t as bad as others’ but I’m losing credibility. Alas.

All the drama of the hail/thunderstorms, my daughter getting here at the 11th hour, it all worked out perfect. David totally defies description; there are no words. He is an angel. Sweet dreams.
#94 archu-adorable, I understand what you are saying because our love for David above all is based on the utmost respect for his “inner” man and his beautiful spirit. I truely marvel at his strength of character (not to mention that he is just 17)! I believe that he has very high personal standards. I am so proud of David for the being true to himself, going against the grain and being willing to wait on dating/ kissing until he is ready. He will take those steps on his terms and in his time. I remember a comment from Jeff saying that David wasn’t willing to sex up his image to sell himself and I respect him for that. I loved the interview on the Elvis Duran Morning Show where one of the girls said she wanted to sulley him up and he replied that he could do without that. They all laughed and it was priceless…. David just being David! All of these situations tell me that David is really good about setting personal boundaries. I have such confidence in him as I believe that he knows who he is and what he wants.
Since discovering David, I feel that we are all on somewhat of a new journey! Call it ODD or whatever… (Thank God, I know I am not alone here!) I don’t think I have ever felt the deep devotion that I feel for David for anyone else outside of my own family. I love and respect my pastor, but I don’t Google him every day! I was definitely a fangirl (back in the day) for the Beetles, but that was more of a crush. My feeling for David is on a whole different level…. a profound respect. One of the things that I have enjoyed the most is seeing David grow and evolve… much the way I feel about my own children and now my grandchildren. I love seeing them take new steps, uncovering their own potential and finding more of who they are. It’s a good thing at any age! I believe Rascal mentioned that David is really a fast learner… could that even possibly be an understatement? His growth and maturity in the last 6 or 7 months blows me away…. actually even just since the end of Idol. His interviewing skills, his comfort in front of the camera, even his apparent comfort with all the attention has multiplied tenfold! I think someone said at the beginning of Idol he really didn’t like people touching him, but he is reaching out to his fans in the most warm and wonderful ways. How many times have we heard how sweet it is just to hug him? He has taken his performance skills (which I could not have imagine possible to improve) to a whole new level. He has always connected with the audience. His voice alone has done that, but now he’s working the whole stage and even dancing!!! Have you seen the video where he appears to be singing directly to someone, then points to her and all the girls go crazy? I actually did laugh out loud on that one! I was so tickled because I thought he was having so much fun. Although he considered it weird at first, I think he is ok with or at least accepts the fact that so many young girls have crushes on him!! I just believe that he is growing, gaining confidence, maturing every day and it is all good! I am just super proud!
I really and truely celebrate David and believe that he is a gift from above…a little ray of light in a dark world. He also happens to be a drop dead gorgeous young man! Having said that, I don’t take these comments seriously. I mean, I don’t think anyone is really going to sniff, tickle or try to kiss David. I take most of the comments to be ppl making fun of themselves… and they crack me up!!! It’s a witty fun group! Thank you David for bringing us all together! Yes, Rascal you are patient and loved!

I don’t have much time on this computer, so here is a cute comment someone made some months back. The lady said, “If only I was 17 again and living in America and attending Murray High. I woulda closed that deal years ago!” Obviously, she doesn’t know David well or she wouldn’t made the claim, but it sure was funny.
This picture is lethal. Just heartstopping. I truly don’t think he’s trying to do anything. Just sitting as instructed and being serious as asked. He can’t help it. He’s just smoking gorgeous. If he is this breathtaking at 17, can you even imagine what he’ll be like in five years? It boggles the mind.
Makes me feel funny to be so drawn to a young guy, but it’s impossible not to notice how handsome he is. You’d have to deaf, dumb and blind to miss it. Sweet spirit, endearing personality, incredible voice, gorgeous looks. The combination is off-the-charts. There is no defense against his charms. I don’t think what has been expressed here by our friends here is a sign of disresepct for David, although I myself will not be able to express it that way, I enjoy reading them nevertheless. I feell they are just poking fun at themselve for their ODD and it is quite harmless. David cannot insulate himself from all the attention he is going to get from his fans, he will learn to accept it as part and parcel of being a public figure. I feel what is said is more of admiration and amazement at the diverse facet of David, or as Rascal put it, the total package. You guys are hilarious, and I love it. There is a blog in AI blog devoted to David’s smell, and the posts left me in stitches, you can feel the love there, not disrespect.
I am still looking at this pic and I asked what was he thinking at that moment. Most probably he was thinking: “I don’t care who you think I should be, dang it, I am a free spirit”.

P.S :: Forgive me for my bad english, i just try my best.. lol
I just need to say that my wanting to smell him was not as an object, but more as wanting to “take in” some part of him, if that makes any sense. I just had to know what an angel smells like. Some may think it is creepy, or an invasion of his space somehow, but I disagree. He is giving out hugs, and he is determining what closeness he wants from his fans. Look at that pic of him wearing that girl’s glasses -- his arm is fully around her, and he looks happy. I have thought that my wanting to smell him was a bit strange, but he is just so intriguing. I’m glad I did it, but I do think that he wouldn’t understand why someone would want to do that. Give him a few years -- once he falls in love and smells and kisses the neck of the luckiest woman alive, then he’ll understand.

From my own perspective, if I was lucky enough to stand in front of him, I would want to take in the “ultimate” experience of it all and, if that encompassed a “sniff” along with the hug…so be it. Each and every one of us love David in different degrees and how we would behave while meeting him is truly an individual and personal event in our lives. Quite frankly, would many of us (at that very moment) really STOP and THINK about what we were going to do next???….not me!
#122/Junee: I had read this article yesterday, I believe and the one thing that I took away from it is this….that he doesn’t want his first “pop” song to pigeon hole him in any way because this was my biggest concern when I read that he was meeting with writers/producers that have worked with Miley Cyrus….It’s good to know that David is fully aware, at this early juncture of his career, of what strategic moves to make and in what direction. I have complete faith in David and his Team to make the right decisions…no fears.
I think all the handwringing about showing enough respect for David is proof in itself of the respect you all have for him. No one seemed concerned about such an issue when Britney or Justin broke onto the scene, and they were the same age as David. Just because David chooses to be less overt about his physical appeal, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. The voice is a physical thing as much as it is an emotional and spiritual thing, the same goes for the rest of the body. After all the rank explicitness from teen pop stars over the past decade or so, perhaps demur is the new cool, the new sexy. Rock on, smokeboy.

My Aunt has dial-up, bummer! I tried to listen to Crush, but it kept skipping! Couldn’t wait for home………..Noting David is where I went first. I never left the site for 6 hours!!! Just reading all responses and feeling the Love for David on this site is a beautiful thing!As for the “smelling David” thing, we are a classy bunch, I am sure we handle that with coyness and professionalism! junee#122, thanks for sharing that info. It just goes to show how fully self-aware David is, and I’m truly impressed with his level of maturity.
Rascal, I really like that observation of “demur” being the new cool. Don’t know that it’s something that’s going to catch on with other artists, or even if other public figures would be able to pull it off so elegantly as our David, but it definitely works for our “smokeboy.”
I think both the maturity and the demur side of David’s personality are innate, even though I believe life experiences have shaped much of this. I remember reading in an interview how David described being “depressed” for more than two years when he suffered from vocal paralysis. I think about this for someone so young and someone so musically inclined, and I weep at the thought of such a severe trauma that he had to undergo.
I mean, voice changes are already “traumatic” for young boys going through puberty, and the heightened level of self-consciousness over how one’s body changes merely contributes to adolescent awkwardness. Add to this, if you will, a medical condition that affects the one organ in your body that affects the one thing you love more than anything in the world (singing), and it’s crystal clear to me why David is 1)shy, 2)humble, 3)religious (what with his miraculous recovery and singing brilliantly with just one vocal chord), and 4)introspective. Such an experience is bound to shape his profundity in numerous ways.
It annoys me to no end the level of ageism (often, we associate this kind of bigotry towards our disdain for the elderly, but I think it also works in reverse for our under-age minors, who seem worthy of our disdain because of their perceived lack of significant life experiences) expressed toward David, an ageism that tends to dismiss his talents and capabilities.
Despite his youth (or perhaps because of it), David is filled with deeper thoughts and feelings, and we already know this just by the quality of his music. David digs deep, and that’s the sign of a true artist and profound human being. That he is physically beautiful is just icing on the cake.

I love the pic! I also love David’s energy and work ethic. As much as he’s loving the tour (and bonding with fellow idols, who are all going to be so heartbroken when they part ways once the tour is over, and I sure hope David blogs about the moment!) and as grateful as I am that the tour has redeemed his image from the show for more audiences and has deepened the devotion of his fanbase, I’m so ready for the concert part of David’s journey to be over and done with so that he can fully concentrate on his new music.

I think my whole point is simply that I know we all love and respect David, he is pretty much blowing us away daily with his growth in all areas and that does include his smoulding good looks! He is (as Rascal says) bringing on the “smexy” without even trying! Demur is definitely the new cool, the new sexy! I don’t have a clue as to whether David would find that weird now or if he has adjusted to it. No doubt with grace and humility… he just might get a kick out of it! Sure hope so!!!

I just can’t get over his skin-- he looks like someone scrubbed him with a washcloth and slathered him in lotion. I’ve never seen someone look so clean. I am so excited that you are going to the concert Sunday (with Josie, no less!). I really do hope it lives up to your expectations because I value your opinion on all things David. I’ll be praying he gets lots of sleep and is in fine form (well, I always pray for that!).

Certainly when the pendulum has swung so far in one direction, the other direction tends to look more inviting. I personally think a little (or lot) left to the imagination is more intoxicating than putting it all on display. I think advertisers, screenwriters, and others really underestimate the power of imagination.
Hey Rascal!! I had the great privilege of attending the first SLC show with Josie. She told us about her mother and her long devotion to David, back to the days of Star Search. I can’t tell you how excited I am to hear your recap and hear about Josie and her mother’s experience. I send all of you much love and well wishes. My experience in SLC was, quite frankly, one of the most beautiful I will ever know. I wish you all the same.
I’ve been thinking about David’s mom. I wonder what she thinks/feels about all the analysis here about everything from David’s scent to his sexiness. I just wonder what I would think if suddenly my son had become the subject of these discussions -- suddenly thrown out for public discussion not just about his musical gifts but his sex appeal, smoldering good looks, and the object of strategically planned sniffing. Where do you all think she is with these discussions? After all, it is her precious son being talked about.

This photo was not intended for release. How are we to know what David was thinking when this was taken? Remember the hoopla over his “leather pants”? He was unaware of the public’s reaction and much later in a very bewildered tone clarified the misunderstanding when he reveled he had been wearing church slacks.
Final thought. For a different perspective let’s look at this reversing the roles. What if this was an unreleased picture of a 17 yr. old girl and the majority of comments were posted by men? No judgment intended, just a late night thought, that’s all.
#151 I suppose she will deal with it the way other mothers have. Both David’s parents have worked hard to help him realize his dream. I doubt that hordes of staring, sniffing, swooning fans are going to lessen the joy or pride they feel in his achievement. It’s weird for her, and him, I’m sure; everything is happening so fast. Can he attain the status of sex symbol and still remain a grounded, humble, good man? Time will tell.
Although-I still think that the primary factor of my overwhelmed ODD is aural stimulation -- lol !
In my oppinion its quite normal, that young fan girls are sceeming,sniffing and are swooning …..and …..!!!! thats not a new situation !!!! As an adult I will enjoy his charisma at a distance. You have to get a sense of occasion, and I think most adult -- when they meet David and his lovely family on tour

Honestly I think “sexy” is a compliment, I am very happy to find David is “cute”, “hot” and “sexy”, what a added advantage to a singer, and god knows how many talented singers die to have these charisma? I am not guilty because it is my simple observation, and I don’t have any “fancy” in my brain when I talk about it, do you?
By contrast, I am very surprised why someone keeps over-reacting for the kind of discussion? If you found this offense your belief, it’s easy to handle -- ignore me. Please give me some respects, and don’t put your judgement on me saying I have any problem at all. Thank you.
Janey #153, good question and, no doubt, the discussion would suggest a certain inappropriateness (not least of which is the statistics that show older men having tendencies toward preying on underage girls, who in the media, are often made to appear less than innocent in their photo shoots (think Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, etc.).
Recent scandals concering older female teachers and their underage male students notwithstanding, I don’t think older female fans swooning over an underage male pop star involves the same power dynamics as older male fans swooning over an underage female pop star.
People: I don’t think I can handle yet another round of self doubt and second-guessing on “appropriateness.” I find that just as indulgent as the rest of it, if not more so. Please let’s not start that debate again. No one is mouthbreathing over this kid, they are just marveling at his beauty and appeal.
And for the record, just because images have watermarks on them doesn’t mean that they weren’t scheduled for release, it simply means that they are not supposed to be used for publication without license. These are obviously not outtakes — I guarantee there are hundreds more images from these photo sessions. These are the selects.

Rascal, first off, I am so excited for you that the day has finally come and can not wait to hear what you will have to say. I wish that I could have gone to more than one show so I could relive my own experience.
David’s voice is what originally drew my attention however, I think for me, it is impossible to separate what he produces, his voice, from what he is, the personality. During the audition week, he was exuding happiness, such positive energy that I could not help but marvel at the sight, in addition to his singing. And being a visual person (or even if I weren’t), his good looks is also what got my eyes fixed on this image that is David Archuleta. Everything is connected. His radiant smile is expressive of his good nature (his loving heart, kindness, generosity, all the good stuff), but what can I say, he has gorgeous lips and teeth too, and those cheeks, and chin. Sorry, I can’t help myself, he has been blessed with really good facial features and that’s that!
Over the season, what further deepened my deep interest in him, we call it ODD for fun, but what additionally drew me further into this human being is his character. His focus, his hard working ethics, and his sense of perspective. Granted his parents have a lot to do with all this, but clearly, he was born with certain qualities, qualities that I can’t help but admire because frankly, not all of us can be as disciplined as he is or focused as he is in pursuing something even if that something is what we love. I know I’m speaking for myself. That is why he is an inspiration to me, and everyday hearing his voice, both the singing and talking (ok, laughing too) warms my heart and seeing him, whether in videos interacting with fans or in still pictures, just mesmerizes me.
His talent which he shares with us, his personality as well as his character, and his physical self are all interconnected. This whole bundle is what makes him so charismatic. We are all naturally drawn to positive feelings of love, in this case, “hot” as he might be sometimes to some of us, I will say it is the universal kind of love, love for one another, and because David seems to telegraph that to us so remarkably by just being himself and doing what he loves, that I can really understand our obsession if we want to call it that. It is returning love.

I’ve been reading reports on other sites that David has been really tired and out of sorts the last concert or two. I hope he is feeling ok and gets some good rest, too! I will be curious to hear reports from tonight. I’ll be sending good wishes his way for rest and stamina with such an insane schedule.
Josie, if you’re still around, make sure you think ahead of time what you want to say to David. I had about 3 different things to say/ask, and then ran out of things to talk about, so it was then that I froze and said “ok then, take care David, etc.” But it was never DAVID that turned away from me to talk to the next person, he’ll give you all the time you want. HOW I wish I would have thought of more to talk about, but I was star struck. and he is shy, so he lets you take the lead in the conversation. Have a wonderful time Josie, I still can’t get the night out of my head; it’s there 24/7!!
Forgive me, I am STIll tired from friday night; this convo. I had with David was at Meet ‘n Greet. I need some serious zzz’s.
Just finished looking at the latest videos of the concert and as I was sitting here mesmerized…I wondered why David is still wearing “the suit” everyone seems to hate so much, then it hit me…everyone assumes he was told or forced to wear “the suit”, but really, at this stage of the game, can anybody force David to do anything? I personally think it was GENIUS to dress him in “the suit”. Sure, first impressions were “what?” but think about it….he shines up there on stage…yes I know he doesn’t need a sparkly suit to SHINE on stage, but on AI he wore clothes geared more for his age and he looked his age and sometimes younger. Now in concert, we all stare at him in wonder, reveling in his magnificence on stage. He is bigger than life and like it or not, “the suit” gives him the look of the STAR that he is. Whoever made the decision about wearing the suit may have explained the reason to David and they were right…and the red tennis…it shows he is still himself cause they don’t “go” with “the suit” but they are him. There is a profound difference between the way he looked on AI and the way he looks in concert now, beautiful 17 yr old kid on AI, gorgeous man on stage now on the tour just a couple of months later. “The suit” makes us look at him, then he starts singing and we forget “the suit” and as I said, stare in wonder at the STAR! That suit is valuable now cause DAVID ARCHULETA WORE IT. David still has the second half of the tour and he may decide to wear something else at some point cause he already did what he set out to do…show that he owns and is a master on stage and has no need for “props”. Heck, he can wear jeans & any one of the hundreds of t-shirts he’s received and he will continue to hypnotize & mesmerize his audiences. “The suit” was genius….just my opinion.
#167/Freo: I hope whatever reports you’ve heard are false, because I have seen every video posted from each of the most recent concerts and I didn’t notice any fatique or irritability on his part..nevertheless, if he ISN’T tired, it would be a miracle. Think of the constant stress they are under with the tight schedule, very little time off, not to mention that David travels back to LA for recording his album. He never really gets solid days of relaxation. Thank goodness he is 17 which helps! Please take a look at the SBM video posted at fansofdavid.com today and it may put your mind at rest about his health. It is actually one of the best performances I’ve seen from him.
On another note, CHICKEE, I bet you are still recuperating from your “David” experience. I don’t know if I mentioned it to you during my last post, but I certainly was jealous of the fact that you got close enough to get a picture with him….WHAT A LUCKY GIRL YOU ARE!! My Grandson has been with us for the past 24 hours which is the reason I’ve been silent today and not chatting…now I’m ready for a nap…that kid wears me out. BTW, I was so glad to see that “the picture” is still posted!!!…..my very favorite..the boy is still smoking!
I will not address this to anyone in particular because I don’t think it’s necessary. I’ve been away from the computer for a while, so I’m starting at the bottom and working my way back. The general conversation has been aimed at David’s sensuality and the “appropriateness” of our comments regarding same. As noted by another poster, David will be 18 years old in December and there is no denying that the young man is gorgeous! Most of the female posters on this forum are “older”…certainly not teeny boppers but who is to say that, because of our age, it is any less appropriate to comment on his looks than it is for the teen girls to scream his name during a performance?? Every one of us knows that this has all been in fun…no underlying thoughts are intended. I think that David Archuleta is adorable and he makes me wish I was 17 again and I really believe that most of the posters here feel pretty much the same way. None of us would EVER say or do anything offensive when it comes to David….we all love him way too much.

Hello everyone! At this point that they are halfway the tour schedule, the observed tiredness about David is not surprising. I don’t think the 2 Davids have had enuff rest since the tour started. David was probably saving his strength for the performance per se, hence the rather subdued banters. But am sure they will bounce back.
But another possible explanation is that DA and actually all the idols were disheartened during the Worcester set. A posting from david-cook.org:
“Ok, now that I just got home and happily saw the expected explosion, I figured I’d provide a little more background since I could. I was actually at the afterparty last night and Michael talked to my friends and I for a good long while. To say he was pissed would be an understatement. We didn’t even have to bring it up; he immediately went, “Did you SEE what happened?” Turns out that they (DC & MJ) actually got letters from someone higher up (he wouldn’t let on as to who) saying that he & Dave dancing like they do was being “disrespectful to the fans,” that “those antics were over-the-top.” . They all decided to do PDSTM completely straight so that TPTB would see how ridiculous it was and also so that the fans would be outraged and they could throw it in their faces. For goodness sakes what’s so wrong with comenting that David’s pysically very appealing? Let’s face it he’s a gorgeous young man. Coupled with the fact that he sings like an angel and has an adorable personality just makes him the complete package. I feel that ALL the comments so far about his looks are just observations by fans and mean no harm at all.
Just getting home from the concert and the meet and greet after the show -- I will post tomorrow, but wanted you all to know David is fine. He’s tired, they all are, but it didn’t detract from his performance one bit.
He’s as beautiful as always and continues to amaze me with his thoughtful compassion for his fans.
