Whoa, Rascal! RonaldSF isn’t the only one who creates a killer composite. I feel like this is one of those ‘find the 6 things that are different between the 2 photos.’ Beautifully done. All that’s missing is a balloon caption reading “SIGH!!!”

What joy to see David grow and embrace his potential. I am just so very thankful that I was “abducted” earlier this year on this journey. At the start I just couldn’t understand “why me, why this, why now!” LOL. I am so very full of joy to be on this journey. NotingDavid is the icing on the cake!
This is a great shot. I have seen so many of the autograph line in various cities and there is always the same “look”. Different face but the look never changes.

Kizzi -- #8 -- You know what? I so agree. Josie and I talked about that earlier today. This is the Crush girl. Although Hagood Coxe is beautiful, she is almost too gorgeous, even voluptuous; not in the conventionally buxom way that the word usually means, but too “model-y,” too sexy (yes, believe it or not, even I can think things can be too sexy, folks, but not for the same reasons as those who think sexy itself is the problem). There is a difference between “lovely” and “gorgeous.” This girl here is so incredibly lovely that it just raises the game, raises the stakes, elevates the dialogue about a crush to the song-centric question of, “is it really love?”
The first time I saw this picture I immediately thought of what it would be like to be 17 again and to have David the pigment of my imagination of what a “crush” would be like. Wow. Great shot. I will have to tell the photographer how well she captured the spirt of a crush.

Yes Rascal, she’s perfect, and somewhere out there is this “lovely” girl who is wondering why her ears keep ringing and keeps having this “tingly” feeling that she thinks she only gets when she’s around David Archuleta. Little does she know we’ve just cast her in his next music video! LOL
Don’t you get the impression David is aware of her looking? Feels like he can sense the heat and is keeping track of her with the side of his eye.
Anyway, I disagree with Hagood being too sexy for the crush. It’s David who has the crush, not otherwise -- haha -- and guys his age tend to go for the sexier, harder-to-get kind of girl. Competitiveness maybe.
She is lovely, but I’d rather not go for yet another blond in the next video. I’m sure David likes variety!
rascal, thanks for articulating my unease with Hagood Coxe in the video. I had wanted someone more natural looking, a bit younger and more fitting for David. This sweet girl in the picture above is perfect.

The difference for me between this photo and stills I’ve seen from Crush is the “connection”… I feel it. She feels it. What a lovely girl and a touching photo. I saw it at FOD and am so glad you brought it over here. I hope David gets to see it. I’m sure he senses these moments, over and over.

Joner -- That Chapstick Moment video is my all time favorite, the head thrown back, and then after he gives his packages to his helper his sideways look and grin is just captivating. I had to watch it several times. Just makes me grin every time

Kizzi, “I’m so joyful to be on this journey” — I sooo agree. I too once asked “Why me, why now” and I like what Hello Gorgeous said on the previous thread about this happening for a reason. We do all need David’s light to shine a beacon of hope right about now.

This picture, her LOOK just speaks volumes…I am just loving the locked on adoring gaze. David really just grabs you … his expression is all kinds of wonderful as well .She would I agree make a perfect, lovely “Crush” girl. I can feel her crushing on David right through my computer screen…*gasp* to be young again !

She truly is hypnotized-mesmerized. How lovely to be so young and free to gaze unabashedly at his stellar looks. He’s busy but must feel that gaze. Hopefully she will realize this picture is out there so she can have a poster made to hang in her room or place in her scrapbook for her children to see someday and hear about David Archuleta which will be a household name by then. Will it be a one word name?

ddavidfanLIZ , it was funny when I read your comment about how you wished the crushee were younger because I believe the Archu_FBI determined that Hagood Coxe is 15 years old! (?!)
And, Hello Gorgeous, YES! I agree we need a “leading lady” type-change for the next one. But you (and Rascal with the advertising bg) probably know better than most that the casting is carefully crafted for demographics/sales potential, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the Hagood Coxe “type” remains the preferred flavor for his leading ladies.
At any rate, I LOVE that photo, Rascal. Now that IS some unadulterated, unabashed (and lovely!) adoration. It just says it all.
You can really feel her connection to him. I’m pretty sure he can feel it too! His ear is a little pink…me thinks he’s a little embarassed? I saw him in Fort Wayne, IN. I’m sure that’s how I looked, (well, maybe a wee bit older!)?…then nothing could come out of my mouth! Crazy…Public speaking is part of my job. I’m with you guys, I don’t get it, but I like it!

#29 dma, you don’t need to be young and free to gaze like that. The adoration and admiration will trigger this spontaneous and involuntary expression.

I am going to try to collect all the archie convert stories/anecdotes I can and put them all together. (It will be like a little archaeological expedition since I didn’t think to pluck them as they appeared before my eyes over these past months. D’oh! ) So many of those stories are so sweet to read, y’know? Hard not to enjoy hearing about the moment somebody “gets it” about David Archuleta.

Awww…I must admit that is exactly how I felt when I saw him after the show in Salt Lake City. I don’t even care that I am in my 40s, I was 17 years old that night and I thought he was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen! Unfortunately, I was so overcome with emotion that all I could do is hand him my program book to sign and stare at him. I was rendered speechless!
This lovely young lady can be the poster girl for the inner teenage girl that lives inside us! It is wonderful when she comes out once in awhile!!! Thank you David for making this “old” mom feel like a young teenager again!
I too was rendered completely speechless in his presence, which is no easy task! My husband is especially intrigued by this phenomenum…he could be saving alot of money on duct tape.

Beebee#30, yeah, I know the Hagood Coxe types are selected for sales and demographics, but it also depends on which demographics they’re trying to reach. I imagine if he came out with an R&B/soul-type song with some “urban appeal,” they might cast the girl accordingly too (a darker brunette or lovely Latin or mixed-race type, for example).
Yeah, I’m projecting my fantasies too!
Rascal, I have a question for you regarding Joner #18′s post. This video link was priceless, yes, I just love the laugh (on that precious profile smile of his at 1.16). My question: when the fan asks him to put the chapstick on again cause “c’mon David you don’t want to disappoint your fans do you?”, do you think he put it on for the 2nd time cause he was being somewhat of a tease, or do you think he did it cause he indeed didn’t want to disappoint? David seems to be getting so much more comfortable in the public eye, but to be a “tease” seems a bit uncharacteristic of him. Would LOVE to get your take on this one.

chickee -- #38 -- I got much more of a tease vibe from the first “chapstick incident.” My take on it is that David has a little bit of frat boy in him like most guys. It’s not as much a tease thing as it is a joker thing. David is a goofball. He’s a adorkable. I think he’s just gotten really comfortable with his fans and is having fun with them.
Hello Gorgeous! You go right on with that fantasy projection, girl! I seem never able to get enough of the R&B/soul-type “thang” from David. I seriously feel we’ve only seen the teeniest tiniest tip of that particular iceberg, and I WANT MO’! lol! And you’re right (as ALWAYS) . . . along with any overtly R&B soul-type song he may record and for which he might make a video (I can only pray a video comes with every song he records…lol) a different girl with more “urban appeal” would (I would HOPE!) be in the running. I know I’d love to see that. (Is it only me, or do others perceive an unmistakable hint of the Archuleta Soul Man in everything he sings?)

#37 hello gorgeous and #41 beebee--you are definetly NOT alone in looking/hoping for more of that R&B soul man sound!! I look for it all the time. I think we heard it more on the Star Search videos on You Tube! I guess it depends on the type of song/music …in the style of maybe Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes (with the great Teddy Pendergrast( sp?), Marvin Gaye…OMG every time I think about David performing in this style my stomach literally flips!! I especially love when he sort of growls his deep “n” sounds ie. “you know, you know..” in When You Believe and “no one can take this from me” in “In This Moment. It’s subtle but it’s definetly there and we want more!!!
#43 Spellbound, holy moly, I LOVE THOSE GROWLS too! you know, you know in When you Believe. oh baby, love it! and “In This Moment” was my fav. at the finale. even though Randy, who always sang David’s praises, didn’t especially like the song. The growls were there, although not as deep as on Star Search as you said. I often wondered if the toning down was due to a kind of protection of the vocal chords. btw, huge fan of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes too.
The first time I thought I noticed an ever so slight “growl” during AI was when he sang The Long & Winding Rd. It may just have been a powerful “nailing” of a particular note, but it seemed like it at the time. Most of all, I love those power notes. What do you think?
chickee — I listened to “In This Moment” this morning for the first time in a while. I have a low tolerance for cheese, and the lyrics are just short of awful, but David, dang it, makes it work to the point where it is one of my favorites of his so far. The part I really like is one of the last “…and no one can take it from me…” where there’s a “…yeah!” at the end of it (around 1:56 on the iTunes video).
I saw this photo at another site and my eyes immediately zoomed into this photo and her expression. The expression speaks volumes about how I imagine what most of his fans feel when in the presence of David. I wonder if this particular girl knows about this photo.
Rascal, I know that “yeah” in In This Moment, it’s powerful isn’t it? which makes me think of finale night every time when he belted that last note out with all his might to the point that I thought he would faint. (which prompted that “freaky breathing.”) It seems like an eternity ago, doesn’t it?
Rascal and chickee--LOVE the “yeah” in In This Moment” right before he powers up for the “I-yiah-yiah want to be in this moment…” voice dropping a little at “be”…I wonder if he put the “yeah” in himself. This is what I savor about David’s voice and style --All the subtle (and not so subtle!) nuances and spins he puts into his performances. I simply cannot get enough! I also love the way they layered all the harmonies at the end of “Crush” --his voice just comes charging! I think we’ve all committed to memory all of David’s performances and just keep reliving them in our minds (and ipods and You Tube…). Cannot WAIT for that CD to arrive! OH--Guess what? the radio station I’m listening to just started playing “I Could Not Ask for More” David did a cover of this several years ago while singing in a park, it looked like he was at a picnic or something. I firstsaw it on You Tube back in Feb/March when we were crawling the Internet trying to find anything on this extraordinary young man!! Oh well, sorry for the ramble. Gotta go!…
