Just got off the phone with my little jazz singer. She is studying with Dean Kaelin right now and it is air for her. She was crying from happiness because of just the sounds that were made in studio during the lesson. I was trying to explain my thoughts about her singing and David's and her husbands drop dead piano skills....I don't care if any of them are famous....I just don't want the sound to stop. Sometimes when you sing you know you have "come home" . Sometimes when you listen you become family. That is who we are here, I guess.....

Wow, here's a jazzy/acoustic version of "Crush" that is absolutely amazing. What I would give to hear David tackle this version in future - he'd be phenomenal:

Very interesting comments from everyone. Since the discussion is on David's character, I would like to say that I too don't really like the idea of putting him on a pedestal like he is so perfect in everyway. David would be the first person to raise his hand and say "stop it!" For many people, including myself, we see David as more than an average person. Even at such a tender age, he shows so much class, so much respect for people, unfeigned humility, so much talent, and he is so gorgeous on top of all those wonderful qualities. Perhaps because he isn't like the average person, people would tend to put him way UP there. And to me that is alright as long as we don't think of him as a "god" but rather think of him as someone who is trying his hardest to first do what is right and be true to what he believes in.

There's a video showing his neighbors telling stories about David and how this wonderful boy showed so much love and service to those around him. I'd like you to watch it. I consider this a testimonial of David's character in a way.

Oh Gracefield - that was an amazing explanation of how I feel - you really hit the nail on the head. And I quote, "If you already love music, you would almost mortgage your life to keep hearing/feeling this soothing connection." That statement expresses how I feel so perfectly in regard to David's singing. I don't post much, I usually just love to read what everyone else says, (you're all so wonderfully eloquent and articulate), however, I had to comment on that.
I'm a very amateur singer myself and music lover. I can listen repeatedly to David all day, every day and never tire of that feeling and connection. Bravo, for putting it so succinctly.

gracefield, I like "happy disbelief" as description of the expression on the judges' faces! Simon's mouth hanging open was quite funny.
David IS the song, that's a wonderful statement.

Cheers to you too Diana! In my pre-notingDavid days, I was swimming in the vast cyberspace, encountering some mean sharks who wrote supremely irritating and often baseless things about David. I never imagined I would end coming to a blog site so consistently, much less post comments (except for those days when I chose to fight the sharks). Needless to say, it is all because of rascal and of course David who is the inspiration and the connector.

I am new to this site and it is a refreshing place to be. Count me as one who tries to understand the music coming from David's soul. The technical aspects of it are fascinating. The artistic choices amaze me. I remember the looks on the faces of Paula, Randy and Simon during "Heaven". I can't even describe the looks on their faces...wonder, awe, respect, joy, astonishment, relief, hope, happy disbelief?!? My beautiful daughter is a singer. Her voice affects people in these ways. In our community she was always, The Voice. Why? With her it is a little different. She is able to communicate the sad longings of Jazz better than anyone who has ever heard her has heard before.
I bring this up not to brag, but just to reflect that sometimes a person's whole soul can be offered up in a song. Someone once said there are two kinds of singers--performing artists and soul-to-soul communicators. This was already a familiar place for me when I heard David.
As a piano teacher, once in a great while you hear someone who transports you into their own soul or reaches into yours with the sounds being made. If you already love music, you would almost mortgage your life to keep on hearing/feeling this soothing connection. David can do this in a very broad way--he IS the song.

Wow, Rascal and the posters are really awesome. I may not be able to express the way you fellows do, but I understand and fully connect with you all. You fellows are just as amazing as my sweetheart David James....this ability to connect and touch hearts with joy and appreciation. This site (thank you Rascal) is indeed a very healthy and enriching place to surf. Very intelligent and well thoughtout comments, tons of respect and consideration for others and most important of all, there is so much unconditional love for David. And seldom off-topic, name dragging through the mud and toxi comments are not welomed (thanks to Rascal).

And Silverfoxe, thanks for making us laugh through our bellies (mind you many times I had to bend down squealing). You are notorious for being supremely silly and crazy (in a loving way) but from what I have read from your more serious comments I know you are a very level-headed and enlightened person. You don't judge, you don't impose your views, you just put forward your opinions and made light of them. I am aware that you are away now attending David's next concert and I hope you really have a good time.

Cheers to all !
