The Crushing Continues

New Archubeauty from R4D. Click to enlarge.
David is up two more spots from last week to #20 on the Radio & Records chart, and also outsold every other of the eight Idol alums with a current release, including Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, Jordin Sparks, and Jennifer Hudson. With 405,000 sold so far, David is all but assured a gold record at minimum (500,000).

Behold the Power of the Archulator!
As Brett says, “Go big D!”
Today we will have some more media from Ford day. More Music. More exposure for David. Rickey.org is going to do a BlogTV cellcast of the event at 11:30 am today.
Good luck David!
AWESOME, THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP, I’LL BE LISTENING FOR SURE. HOW DOES R4D DO THESE PICTURES OF DAVID. GOOD GRAVEY. MY LORD THIS KID IS GORGEOUS.
holy batcave, holy deathstar! wowza! jive management better catch up with these r4d images and art work. amazing! that is the way to give respect to this kid, this special, special talent!
AMEN, GERRYHANSOLO YOU SAID A MOUTH FULL…..
Everybody get their seatbelts fastened tightly -- the ride, known as David Archuleta, is about to begin!
Yipeeeee!!!! This is going to be such a great time watching his career take off! He certainly is loving it, all of it -- fans, press, studio time (loves that the most I think)…
Happy Ford Day!
I have been turning around in my mind the word “Crush” and its various meanings and have seen some amazing connections with the title of David’s first single and what is going on with sales, fans and the media post AI. There is no coincidence.
Crush—definitions:
1. To pulverize – his first single has pulverized previous AI contestants first release and steadily climbing. Dare we hope platinum?
2.To quell, overcome – he continues to quell the media and overcome the negative press that was prevalent during AI.
3.To hug or embrace forcibly or strongly – he has, in fact, embraced his fans physically, emotionally and mentally; and, conversely, more and more fans are embracing David’s artistry as we saw during the tour and release of his CD and video
4.A great crowd – the crowds grew pre-concert during the tour as fans traveled far and waited long for a chance to meet, embrace and hug David.
5.Archaic: To drink – I am drinking in all things David.
And, when you listen to the lyrics of David’s song, it does, first and foremost, refer to one’s first infatuation (or is it love)? In so many ways, those lyrics can be interpreted loosely as how the fans feel about David sans the romantic overtones.
OK, I am “crushing” just fine…..
Oops….I do imagine that the younger fan base for David has embraced the romantic in “Crush.”
My, my, my….second place is looking mighty good right now.
“The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese in the trap…”
WOW, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL FACE!!! This has got to be my favorite of all R4D’s work. For sure Jive needs to check this out. I LOVE David’s hair like this. Reminds me of the first audition and that joyful smile I first laid eyes on. But he has certainly grown in this short 9 months.
Kizzi, I got chills down my legs from your definitions.
That was cool.
aw joner you made me bellyache laugh out loud.! Thank goodness there is no one else at home to have heard it and questioned, yet again, my “in”sanity!
kizzi, I am crushing along fine “with you”
Wow…that picture has left me hypnotized! Thanks for bringing it here rascal because Rabid’s site is blocked here from my job.
Joner… AHAHAHAHA. Thats hilarious! I immediately got a mental image of Cookie in a mousetrap.
I am surprised that they are going to release David’s album a week before Cook’s. But coming so close together will create a good buzz in the media for both of them. Of course there will be the usual comparisons but David has shown himself to be a true star now, so it will be different than during Idol. I am so happy about all of the media exposure he is getting.
THIS pic would for sure be a great album cover.
This is so much fun! Like watching your child’s first day at school and how well they are prepared and happy to be joining the “big guys” who ride off in the bus.
Actually more like a train, yea and this is really dating myself and tacky and lame- eh who cares:
*maestro, musical note please*
People all over the world (everybody)

OH MY GOSH!!!!

Then I let out a BIG WHOOPEE! after reading the article! One lady almost ran out to get an oxygen tank…they thought I was going to pass out cause I was hyperventalating!! ha ha ha!! SOOO very happy for David!! But am I surprised…NO!! Remember….DESTINY!!!
Check out this interview on My Fox Utah (Fox 13):
AI judges talk about DA
http://www.myfoxutah.com/myfox/MyFox/pages/sidebar_video.jsp?contentId=7464220&version=1&locale=EN-US
Kara and Randy are SO one of us! Kara describes how David connects emotionally with a song (”You give him a melody and you can hear him crying in it”). They both love him; definitely worth watching!
UPDATE: New time for Ford Day cellcast 12:15 pm EDT
#20 Thanks for sharing that interview. Love hearing all the props for our boy….my little GRADUATE.
Oh, and Rascal, don’t tell Mel….K???
http://i332.photobucket.com/albums/m335/Jonerz/David/MrsJoner.jpg
Joner, why don’t you just give in and make that your avatar!
You should double dog dare her, Rascal. LOL!
Great artwork. Love the picture-those eyes. Fans of David right now is fawning over a photgraph that really brings out the eyes too. We are all suffering withdrawal.
I am remembering conversations in A1. Crushed the competition. Crusher. And we fans we have a crush of great proportions. It is fitting that this song should be David’s. It also introduces him well to his contemporaries. It is something he and all young things experience. It’s a rite of passage.

Quick hello from the dressing room
Hey guys! It’s me yet again. I got a chance to go back to utah for a few days to record and had such a great time being home! The whole family was finally able to all hang out and spend time together, and went out to eat haha. I didn’t really have time to hang out with anyone else since we did a lot of music with some cool people based in Utah, but I’m glad there was time for family. Family’s first so that was important to get in haha. Anyway I’m in Detroit right in the dressing room for a Ford executive event that Cook and I are performing at, and it should be fun. I need to get going now but just wanted to check in while I had a chance. Take care
OMG, David is now singing CRUSH live!!!!
Song lineup
1. Angels
2. Crush
3. Imagine -- finally the full, complete song!
Cook is now on….
I think I missed this yesterday, didn’t know if anyone else had posted this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ohy9IlJMJWw
What a gorgeous young man! And Sara’s beautiful voice?
jackryan4DA — where did you see that he was performing all the verses of Imagine? That would be very interesting…
Cook sang
1. The World I know
2. Hello
3. TOML -- he is now singing it…
Wonder if there is a duet???
That Oliver08 better be uploading the video now!!!!! Telecast was crappy
jackryan4DA…HELP! I’m dying here!!!
Is this FORD event going to be televised anywhere any time?? David singing CRUSH LIVE for the first time IS A VERY BIG DEAL!! Seems the whole world has been waiting for this…I am lost here!! I can’t even see straight!! Will we be able to see the event and I don’t mean on videos!! Was anything announced about a televised version???
JACKRYAN4DA, YOUR RIGHT ABOUT THE TELECAST
I COULD BARELY UNDERSTAND ANYTHING THEY WERE SAYING. I’D LOVE TO KNOW WHAT DAVID HAD TO SAY.
Oliver is ran to Panera bout 10 min ago… to upload the vids
RASCAL -- I was tuned in at Rickey’s! Yes Imagine, the full version. David sounded so good
I meant he ran…
In the meantime, you can go to Rickey.org and listen to the recording of the Ford Day cellcast. He posted it.
Thank you jackryan!!
Here’s the telecast link:
http://www.rickey.org/?p=8866#more-8866
Rickey is cracking me up.
Isn’t “Oliver” a female? Think it could be a last name.
David said in a radio interview that he doesn’t have trouble singing the full version of “Imagine” — that it’s about the universal message in a song, and that he chose to sing the third verse for the show because he had time for only one verse, that he thought the third verse was the least distracting, and that it was his favorite.
I’m so glad he sang the whole thing, and I’d do about anything to have an MP3 of the whole “Imagine” by him. Also can’t wait to hear (and would love an MP3 of) this version of “Crush” — he sounded so strong and passionate.
That’s what I did next… and it is buffering forever!!!!!
KAIT, THANKS FOR THE INFO. THAT’S GREAT.OUR DAVID IS SUCH A DIPLOMAT, DON’T YOU JUST LOVE HIM? AWESOME
Kait -- #38 -- The explanation in Dean Kaelin’s journal is a little different. It’s hard to tell whether it’s Dean’s interpretation or whether it was a direct observation / participation, but he does report that religious considerations were indeed a part of the decision to perform the third verse… Even to the point where there was apparently a specific discussion about what David should say if he was asked about it (which, of course, he was).
I am of the understanding that David has sung all the verses before, but I have not heard or seen a recording (I also seem to recall that there may have been a slight lyric change to cover the ‘no religion’ line, but it’s a vague recollection and may be apocryphal) — I was told that the earlier performance may be on YouTube.
In any case, if he did sing the lyrics as written today, I take that as an awfully good sign that he is broadening his world view — or at least the impression of his world view — to accommodate his increasingly diverse audience.
Hi Rascal, even through that choppy arful cellcast audio, David was BRILLIANT! And yes, the full “Imagine”
Joner! lol… NICE photo! (heehee) Do it. Make it your avatar! Pleeeease!
Silverfoxe & Bookaholid {{{huggg}}} Thank you so much for your stories in “Blessings”.
oops… of course I meant Bookaholic. (I really must proof read more diligently. Apologies.)
DAVID SANG THE WHOLE VERSION OF IMAGINE ON THE JENNY JONES SHOW WHEN HE WAS 13. DEAN KAELIN PLAYED THE GUITAR FOR HIM. IT IS ON YOU TUBE.
The cellcast video was definately choppy. Honestly though, David’s voice makes you not even think about it!
Rascal, as I recall, the videotape of the younger David singing Imagine was a full and unabridged version. And as I remember, his comments about singing abbreviated and abridged versions was that he only wished to keep it as universal as possible. (I could be interpreting some myself, but my distinct impression when I actually hear his words has always been that he is just trying to reach out to the most people, and/or trying to select the verse that has the most universal voice. Not so much walking on eggshells for his or somebody else’s faith.)
Methinks I hear the tremors of a pending Archuquake when the videos of these performances come out.
Angels -- LIVE!!
Crush -- FINALLY live!!
Imagine -- Finally the FULL (post-puberty) version!
ram -- the link in #29 -- AWESOME! Lot’s of R4D and some of rascals pics too it looks like. “Gravity” is just haunting. I had the wierdest experience the other night -- I had been listening to my ipod and fell asleep, but woke up at the climax of “Gravity” and found I was crying. This vid is just so beautiful and fitting for the David Experience.
Do we have confirmation that video cameras were allowed there? Or better yet, do we think official Ford event videos might be leaked onto YouTube?? (hope hope hope)
Beebee -- yes FOD confirmed that video cams are allowed
Thank you, jackryan!
I’ve seen the video of David singing “Imagine” at 13, and the only change was to substitute “evil” for “hell” (below us.) Not sure if he made that same change today.
I do know that Dean suggested some qualms with the lyrics. I have no doubt about the truth of this, but we don’t know exactly what the qualms were. Could he have felt the weight of such a vast viewing audience? I have the MP3 of the recent radio interview saved on my iPod, I think. (Don’t know why… that’s the interview in which the deejays were complete jerks.) He was asked if he avoided singing those lyrics, and he repeated that he chose the third verse for time considerations, but that he felt that the universal message was what counted.
If I remember correctly, David said in one interview that the reason he sang only the 3rd verse on AI was he didn’t want the other verses to distract from the ultimate message of the song, which he felt was contained in the third verse and since there was time constraints he chose the 3rd verse during the competition. I never got the impression that DAVID had a problem with the whole song, despite what those around he say. I don’t think David himself has said he had a problem with the other verses. If so, I missed it.
Good grief, that’s a gorgeous picture at the top.
Just had to get that out. Whew! Eyes.
lol… Kait, that R4D art is just plain hazardous. Lordy! (I just love Rabid!)
Juliebug, that is my distinct impression as well.
I’m going crazy here, waiting for a decent audio or heaven-help-us, a full video version!!!
ok, i’m now listening to Rickey’s mp3 of the cellcast. It’s an hour long. David begins at about the 25 Min. mark. (you can slide the slider)
http://www.rickey.org/?p=8861#comment-322931
(lol… was this posted already?? Sorry if this is redundant)
While waiting for the vids to upload, have you sen this?
Entertainment Tonight feature on David
http://www.youtube.com/watch?y=GEfIfys_kuI
OK I managed to get an FLV file of Rickey’s telecast — not the best quality but you can clearly hear him… Uploading them now to sendspace….
I listened to the live cellcast and can’t tell you just how overwhelmed I felt whan I heard him utter the first line of Imagine and knew he was going to sing the entire thing. Tears came to my eyes at the beauty of his voice together with the lyrics. I may get tomatoes thrown at me but I did not enjoy Crush live as well as I thought I would. David is such a powerful live entertainer I felt as if Crush was a downgrade next to Imagine. He sang it well, and I loved the new runs. However I felt an inner straining from him against the confines of the song. I could be wrong but for this one -- I liked the studio version better. Maybe it was just the crappy cellcast? I may change my mind after seeing any available vids.
Joymus,
I loved hearing him sing “Crush” live — but I’m in agreement. “Imagine” stole my heart — and he did finish with that song, so maybe he believed “Imagine” was the stronger song.
I probably can’t be objective. “Imagine” is a favorite song for me.
Crush is produced to within an inch of its life. One of the problems with today’s pop music is that it is so overly manufactured that live performance almost always pales in comparison to the studio release no matter who it is.
Joymus, yeah, hard to tell. The cellcast audio is … arful. lol. I will say I have always felt that Crush is a “made-for-studio” song, and that until he works it out for the live “situation”, live will seem thinner by comparison. (There are so dang many studio layers in the released single.) Still, I really loved what I heard of that Crush performance. But I have already imagined an unplugged re-work of Crush by David. If he ever goes that route with that song for the stage, it will make my kneecaps disintegrate.
And, Whoa! That “Imagine!” *THUD*
cook related -- he is releasing a new single next week called “light on”
source: Rickey.org
Hey Rascal,
Almost didn’t recognize you with your glasses on LOL!
WAY TO GO!!!
Thank You for the feedback everyone. I thought it was just me. Beebee you’re right. They should try to work out a better unplugged version.
rascal:
Best R4D photo to date, in my opinion. Thanks for posting it.
I also like the album Countdown!, Recent Articles, and Gallery Show sections in the left margin of the site. Very nice!
“Crush” Live -- poor quality but it’s a start — “Let’s see how it goes!”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HegGbdHye6M
CRUSH now up!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HegGbdHye6M
mmm, mmm, mmmm! Y’know, there may be the odd mini-flaw here and there in that (gawdarful…lol) video — and the unfortunate absence of live accompaniment — but lordy, lordy, I do love a live performance from David Archuleta! He slays me. Every time.
Angels, dear angels
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgt1CQg8XKw
beebee — ain’t that the cha-ruth!
There’s a lot of ott odd going on today! Can’t wait to see a vid of the full version of Imagine…
ain’t it, tho! *thud!*
whoa, jackryan! GO!
yay!
Also, have to say, I love that DA fans are so excited to share… the cellcast has only been over for a couple of hours and the first youtube is up already?! Amazing.
images here and here
feed the hungry odd
Imagine!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6hCsYz7v2E
And, as far as the live version of Crush, I agree, it wasn’t as great as the other two songs, but he didn’t have much time to work it out. I’m sure he sang it because he heard from so many fans that they wanted to hear it live… I think you can tell when he isn’t totally comfortable with something…he intro’ed the song the same way he intro’ed Crazy when he was in Utah on that news show.
lol… I feel like I’ve just dragged my big fat bag of halloween candy back to my room and can now gorge myself… later’gaters.
IMAGINE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6hCsYz7v2E
I’ve listened to all 3. IMAGINE knocked my socks off, just beautiful. Wouldn’t you love this on the CD?
I am trying to finish reading all of this but I thought I’d just quick post the young David link when he sang the full ‘Imagine’. Rascal Elton, can’t believe you never saw that before! Oh, and HELLO EVERYBODY, HAPPY FORD DAY!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2oHcqi70cc
Round two -- much better video.
Angels:

jackryan4DA…I LOVE YOU!!!
You just don’t know how hard it’s been today to sit here at work and not be able to access YouTube (blocked)!!
I’m on my way home now and I HAD better not encounter heavy traffic or tie-ups cause it’ll be really hard to BLD…the road-rage coming from me will be fierce!!! My ODD is in OVER-DRIVE!!! And That’s The CHA-RUTH!!!
GAH. . . oh that is GOOD, rascal, thank you! (oh this almsot hurts it’s so wonderful. Lordy.)
Be CAREFUL, silverfoxe!
Okay. That “Imagine.” He just takes my heart and wrings out every piece of emotion possible. Seriously. I could not love that kid more.
Whew.
this maybe a better vid:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tObRe2G-kA
i loved “Crush.” Listened to it 3x after reading your comments and I can’t say anything but I LOVE IT! Guys, this is DaVID!
Told Mr. Kizzi he needs to come out of retirement today and make me his trophy wife because I now HAVE to be a full time David Archuleta groupie. He then reminded me that when I am not employed full time, the yard is totally re-landscaped, the house renovated and the kids avoiding my calls because of all my “helpful” suggestions-lol. That man is ambrosia for my soul!
Rascal -- your images at #76 are BeauTIful! Thanks!
Kait-I was watching “Imagine” with you on youtube, or at least at the same time.ha
Silverfoxe-You can use me or my services(landscape wise), anytime. Maybe we should start a collaborative ‘inside out’ cleaning n’more Co.
I really liked the ‘Crush’ live version. Could it be better? Yes, but it seemed like a pretty bare-bones setup and with that in mind I thought it was great. It’s tough to sing the lead with yourself as the background singer too. (story of my life)
One question. What word did he sing instead of ‘hell’ and why the hell did he swap that out? Maybe I just can’t hear it on that version. Other than that it was frickin’ unreal! Imaginate! Loved it
LOL, Jesse… I loved the Crush, too. Do we have a HQ of it yet?
#92 -- JesseQ -- Couldn’t agree more about “Crush” live version -- it was better than I anticipated -- David, raw and unplugged.
Did we really think it would sound like the CD with all the voice overlays?
I think it was better -- his VoICe,, unprocessed.
So, JesseQ -- you sing?
Crush… H(er) Q.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isqh_cxxGsE
He sings ‘evil’ below us. Don’t know why. Don’t care. For me, this version works just fine.
I HOPE YOU ALL DON’T HATE ME FOR THIS, BUT HERE GOES. I KNOW DAVID AND DAVID ARE TIGHT, THIS IS A GOOD THING, BUT NO ONE CAN CONVINCE ME THAT DAVID COOK SHOULD HAVE ONE THAT DANG CROWN. I UNDERSTAND IT’S NOT” ARCHIE “TO BE UNKIND, BUT DANG IT ANYWAY. DAVID JAMES CAN SING LIKE NOBODY’S BUSINESS. I UNDERSTAND THEIR COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ARTISTS EVEN STILL THERE’S NO COMPARISON. LORD HOW I WOULD TO HAVE A MP3 VERSION OF THIS IMAGINE, WITH GET SOUND…HOLY COW
oh my heavens to betsey. . . he is GLORIOUS!
SORRY I REALLY SHOULD USE MY SPELLCRUD. I MEANT TO SAY GREAT
better ver of CRUSH

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isqh_cxxGsE
That video was fabulous! His facial expression, emotions--overall performance--was more than I had hoped for! GAH Anyone know CPR?
Slvrfox,
Can I respectfully ask that you don’t use ALL CAPS. It is very hard to read your messages. You should only use for emphasis here and there.
Thanks…don’t mean to offend.
I’m sorry
Gosh, I should have waited to comment on Crush… now that I’ve seen the “higher” quality vid, I think he did a great job… loved watching him moving to the music. Still love Imagine the best though… I SO wish he would put it on his CD.
Re: Crush video. Is he wearing a ring on his right hand? I think this is the first time I’ve noticed a ring.
*ahem* I will have to respectfully RETRACT my “mini-flaw” comment (# 70)
DANG that CRUSH is KILLA!
#89 jackryan4DA, I just watched that ANGELS video and I am completely undone. Be still my heart! This simple version, just David and piano, is sublime. Plus no silly suit haha!
aww… slvrfox {{{hug}}} No harm done.
Ok, while we’re waiting, this juicy tidbit from a post at Rickey’s (thank you Bianca!)
Just found an amazing Ford Day report on a site called Snarky Archies http://www.snarkyarchies.com/
Here’s the best part:
Guys, guys. OK, so I didn’t interview David, but I rambled at him and yes, he was super nervous during ‘Crush,’ he got a mischievous glint in his eye when I asked him if any of his own songs would be on his CD, he said he writes happy songs when I asked if he wrote emo-love songs, and Jeff says David is a PHENOMENAL songwriter and we’ll “definitely” expect some of his songs on the CD. He says he’s a very “witty” songwriter — YEAH. YEAH. I was like, “What, Jason Mraz witty, or more John Mayer?” And he said, “Both” and I said, “What about Sara Bareilles?” and he said, “That, too” and I sorta died. Died. AND DAVID CAN SO PLAY THE GUITAR. I called him out on it. Someone asked him about him playing it in the music video and he kinda laughed and is like, “Well, I can play it, just not PROFESSIONALLY” and I was like, “Whatever.” Gah, David probably thinks Im a crackhead because I was talking at him a mile-a-minute and went up to him three times to get a picture with him because it so wasn’t working out and I was, like, afraid to touch him or make him uncomfortable, so I stood like a foot away from him. But I look super happy. Also expect Christmas singles and a January tour and I LOVE JEFF. I love him. I was Jeff fangirling like crazy after the concert.
All kinds of exciting news there!
beebee and Jackryan FTW! Way to go with the battle of the linksters!!!
Just a little tip for all of those who like to save youtube vids, or are looking to download the HQ ones that youtube sometimes offer in the “watch high quality version” link. You can easily download these. 1.Copy the full youtube address of the video, (just the address of the standard version is fine)
2. Go to http://www.file2hd.com
3. Paste the link in the (paste link area) ha.
4. Agree to the terms
5. Check the video box
6. Submit
It generates a “save as link” for the reg. video and an mp4 link for the hq video. Its better than downloading a flash video download program, and it works for every site for flash, embedded, mp3, etc. Kinda a cool lil’ tool. Hope I didn’t bore you with this. Going to mow the lawn and listen to my new Ford Day DA a yay a yay songs. Be back shortly.
David VanHalen! Should we expect a rockin guitar solo on the album? DA throwing out guitar picks..I can just see it. lol. OK on to lawn.
whew!! At last….I am home!
JesseQ…heck with the landscape/housemaid business idea…we should form a comedy act…Then we can be the “opening act” for David when he has his own “theater” in one of the casinos in VEGAS!!!! We are sooo clever! ha ha! I think David would appreciate our “dry wit” (what’s DRY WIT???). We can call ourselves “Silverfoxe & the Hound Dog”…no?? Don’t like that, huh? What would you suggest, then??
He’d think we are really “trippy”! ha ha ha!
what a long day I have had…Getting home was ok…just had to
flip my fingers a couple of times….no, not that way!! I gave the
PEACE sign, sillies!!
Now I will sit back, relax and watch some videos of David to sooth my soul!!
The beauty and true test of a singer’s voice is when he goes acoustic, a capella or unplugged -- cos there’s nowhere to hide. I believe that was how Dave K. explained it.
This kid really has it in aces. And I dunno if anyone realizes that his pitch is a tad higher than most — it is actually a female’s pitch. Plus the song is wordy and fast — which makes it a difficult piece. Whether on his lower or higher register, David does well..
Wow! I’m feeling late to the party! Thanks, rascal and others, for linking to the Ford Videos. Definitely “Imagine” was the best of the three, hands down! Although “Angels” (UNPLUGGED!) has a special place in my heart.
Keeping my fingers crossed that both “Angels” and “Imagine” are included on his debut album. He OWNS those songs now!
Here is another version of Crush, a bit longer cos it includes his banter
w/ the audience.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUo_qpm_xjI
I think he’s been asked about 3 times to date on radio interviews whether he didn’t want to sing the “no religion” line because of the natural assumption that such a line would be disturbing to him. In one of the interviews, he was most successful at explaining that he had sung the song in its entirety therefore he does not have a problem with it. On the contrary, his concern was that anyone who was religious might get hung up on that line and not give the song a chance and hear the rest of it and he didn’t want that, as he said the song has a bigger message that he wanted people to get. I absolutely love this about him. He is very religious but he is not closed minded. If he had been, we would have never had the joy of experiencing him singing Imagine and what a loss that would have been. In another interview, he was a bit less articulate in explaining the same thing, and in a most recent interview, he started out not being as crystal clear about why he chose to skip the first verse, but upon more probing from the DJ, he got to making the point I wrote above. I LOVE HIM!!!
jackryan rules!
Jesse, thanks for that nifty tip.
Loved Imagine, loved Angels (although Tulsa Angels is my all time favorite, have to listen to it daily, version), and on a second listen, I really liked Crush.
My family know that I listen to David daily but today is the first day that I opened my office door to all and sundry and revealed the extent of my odd. My husband is calling it my “boy crush”. It’s so much more than that. He has healed much with that voice of his. If only he had an inkling.
Put me down as LOVING this “unplugged” version of Angels.
The tour version is great on its own terms as well -- you need the backing instrumentation for the song to rise into the stratosphere the way David raises it.
But this unplugged version just lets you hear David’s voice SOAR. When he starts each course with “alll…” I feel chills.
dang it! where is that HQ Imagine????
Have to go back to my work and I can’t concentrate cos I keep looking at youtube!
David’s voice is soooo glorious! Chills!!! It’s stupid to even say it, but he is SOOOOO GOOOOOOD!!!! Sorry, had to exclaim. Couldn’t contain it.
lol… jackryan, we’re both chomping at the same BIT!
vermeer… perfectly understandable. lol
How cute can these 2 get?!

http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/bzviulsBh__0sVe5HAj3XQ?authkey=dNkegtGn7Dw
Thank you for the youtube links!
No disrespect to Robbie Williams, but Angels was made and destined for David. No one else compares. For me, the heart and soul of that song is in the chorus, and David takes it to a level that no other artist can reach. I won’t even begin to try and talk about tonality, pitch, etc. All I know is that it gives me chills. It’s not a cover to me. It’s David’s.
Now back to staring at my computer for the next hour (or so) with a stupid, silly grin on my face.
omg, jackryan… those PIX !
FINALLY!

jackryan4DA: Thank you, thank you. I can hardly breathe….
He has gone full circle and my heart is full of joy (sigh)
Chanelling FunnyGirl, I must say. . .holy Mother of Peas and Carrots!
Oh my HEAVENS!
Just got home from work. Squeeeeee!
Slvrfox -- no harm done on the all caps. No need to be sorry. It’s just my old eyes can’t take it. LOL!
Off to watch vids. I can’t hardly stand it.
OMGosh Jackryan HILarious pics! They seriously look like an old school comedy duo.
oh me, oh my….complete BLISS and contentment! That’s how I’m feeling right now after watching David. The only thing better would be a better, clearer video of David singing IMAGINE….
Every song originally recorded by another that David sings is definitely NOT a “cover” to me. It is absolutely true! ANGELS, APOLOGIZE, WYSYLM, and SBM. And ALL the songs he sang on AI. He owns them all! And IMAGINE….ok, so some may say no way he does IMAGINE better than Lennon, but David’s version IS BETTER…Lennon would be PROUD! When Lennon wrote IMAGINE, with so much love & hope for this world, trying to get people to really listen to his message, we DID…then. But as time went on, we forgot the message and only occasionally remembered it when we happened to hear it, the original or a “cover” by probably a hundred famous & not so famous singers…It is considered to be one of the most beautiful & moving songs ever…..But only one VOICE has truly embodied the true meaning Lennon wanted the world to understand..Only one VOICE could turn the lyrics into the heart-wrenching plea to join together to LIVE AS ONE, to make the world a better place. Only one has the magic to sing with the kind of emotion Lennon lyrics demands and the ONLY ONE is DAVID ARCHULETA, THE VOICE!!! No one else comes close…
I can’t say it enough..what a gift David has given us…will he ever know what he has done for us? He’s the gift that keeps on giving!!
And Silver -- your wish is my command -- MP3 of Imagine
http://www.sendspace.com/file/v9xom8
And woman, even for The Archuleta, you never should speed, ok? TC
Enjoy the rest of the night/day guys!
jackryan4DA#128, my heart can hardly take it! Thank you for that link!
np1107#126, I completely agree about David’s version of Angels beating out the original. In fact, I always thought this was one of his smartest choices on the show -- introducing an American audience to a world-renowned pop song, and in the process, making it his own.
thank you jackryan for the mp3 of Imagine!
jackryan4DA, What a good friend you are. Thanks for the links and for the MP3. Much appreciated!!
JesseQ & Beebee I know! Those 2 should really have a sitcom. That would be a hoot!
jesse those pics are priceless. I’m in a taxi with my iPhone and laughing and crying at all this — home soon
Anytime guys! Just returning the love… don’t think I could have managed my ODD w/o you & the other angels willingly sharing your pics, vids and stories — where would we be international fans who could not see David perform live?
And for folks like Rascal & Rickey -- my hats off!
Now I have to finish my project! Bye guys!
You…I knew were were just a lovin’ your new phone! Jackryan- Or a reality show. Well actually the life of David/Davids is kinda already one of those.
Bye guys!
jackyan4DA…no worries…I don’t speed on my own. I’m ALL talk and no action! ha ha ha!! I just cruise along with the flow of the traffic. They speed up, I speed up, they slow down I slow down. all the while listening to David the VOICE!
By the way, you are truly amazing..
Hasta la Vista…Babeh!!! Y buenas noches!
jackryan, just in time for my drive home! Thank you for the Imagine MP3! My weekend begins on a beautiful note
jackryan, hat’s off to you!
jackryan4DA -- #143 -- Oh, Lord, have I really been put in the same category as Rickey? Hmm. Maybe I should re-think this. Ha!
I can’t talk about “Imagine” yet. You’ll all just have to wait.
What a party here. You’re all priceless.
Well, you know Rascal….those glasses of David’s you are coveting and Rickey’s angel wing headpiece…. if it fits…. LOL!
LOL, juliebug. . . don’t scare rascal like that. s’mean… :p
Um, except, that it’s not me in the picture… or every picture, for that matter (oh! he did NOT just say that!)
So here is a partial of Ford Day “Crush” …. apparently there was a phone-ringing, phone-dropping incident that nipped this one before it could finish. But the *up-close-and-personal* aspects of it more than make up for it. It’ll tide us over. There’s a complete “Imagine” coming from the same source. (Thank you Wanda!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaUWoVOVHNY
JackRyan4DA -- thank you, thank you, thank you for the MP3 of Imagine.
“Oh, Lord, have I really been put in the same category as Rickey? Hmm. Maybe I should re-think this. Ha!”
BWAHAHAHAHAHA. You know what I mean…
But that guy has been appreciated yes..but had gone through ridicule, shame and held under suspect -- all sorts of (mis)adventures -- yet he continues with bringing fans together. He enjoys what he does -- and that’s what I like about him.
Am holding my breath at your take on Imagine Ford Day version.
Hi Rascal,
I am so glad to find that your insightful thoughts and writings on David continue through this blog. I have always appreciated the ways you dissected and continue to dissect this enigma that is David Archuleta. I love nothing more than to read about, analyze, or sometimes, write about David, and to be able to listen to David’s singing and share my thoughts and feelings and read others’ thoughts and feelings on him is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.
Much seemed to have changed since we all saw David first appeared on AI, (like his growth, his record deal, his new song, his new video), and much seemed the same, (like his ability to convey and reach out and connect and affect others through his music).
This is the beginning of the journey that we have been waiting for since the AI days. How glorious the next few decades will be for us ODD sufferers.
I will make sure I make time so I can come here and read and write and share my thoughts on our little angel of music with all you guys.
Regards,
daisawesome
Look, jackryan4DA, all due props to Rickey (despite the fact that he would never in a million years give any props to me--or anyone else, for that matter); I acknowledge him prominently on my Author page. But just so there’s no mistake--and not that there’s anything wrong with it--but it is, after all, all about Rickey…!
Holy smokes, talk about old home week — I am delighted to see you here, daisawesome. We are blessed this evening.
Thanks for the heads-up on snarkey archies, Beebee. There are alot of photos from today. The person who took them is really funny. Has a story about David being afraid he had peanut butter breath. (he was eating crackers and peanut butter)
Oh, Rascal, but I am blessed to have heard David’s full version of Imagine today! Wow, it brought tears to my eyes, again. Will the wonder ever cease with him??????
lol, betsy, I haven’t even explored the *snarkies* yet. I’ll have to do that. I can’t really take any credit, because I shamelessly swiped that juicy little tidbit in its entirety from sombody’s post (Bianca’s, to be precise) at Rickey’s. Good stuff, tho. David-authored songs. All those exciting hints about David’s song writing ability, Christmas songs… all MANNER of goodies in that one!
daisawesome -- Don’t make me start talking about it! I want to save it for a post tomorrow. But honestly, I don’t know how he does it. I was just saying on IM to our friend and fellow Archie Rick from Main who we met at the Manchester show, that he is somehow able to bring it to another place. Resistance is futile.
Rascal, you’ve picked up on David’s brief references to the songwriting process for him, haven’t you? I think the most succinct statements he’s made about it were in that Disney radio interview. I was fascinated with that little bit, and now coupled with those Jeff statements (to the snarky…lol) … why… “I’m gettin’ shakey just thinkin’ about it.”
“resistance is futile” — hahaha. I gave up resisting long ago.
My new line is: surrender is bliss. (It will set you free, ha, as if you don’t know that already!)
I am looking forward to your post tomorrow. Here’s a question for you: have you ever been so passionately helpless when you hear anyone sing like David does?
“Don’t make me start talking about it! I want to save it for a post tomorrow.”
Ooh! Something to look forward to! Can’t wait!
As an aside, Rickey isn’t all that bad (except that one time he lost his ever loving mind over a perceived snub by Syesha -- I was beyond disgusted by all that “boobesha” nonsense), but I will gladly say unhesitatingly that you, Rascal, are no Rickey (take that as a compliment).
Sorry…you know how your brain just does weird things sometimes? No? I hope I’m not alone in the way my brain just goes from place to place to place and I’m left wondering how I got to point B from point A. LOL!
Rascal -- Exhibit A -- “Resistance is futile.”
Me -- Exhibit B -- “Resistance is futile.” …. “Star Trek:NG”……Dr. Beverly CRUSHER.
Ahahahahahah!
Sorry, as you were…..
jackryan4DA -- Thank you so much for the mp3 of Imagine. I’ve had it on repeat in iTunes for the past 45 minutes while I was in the kitchne cooking. What a feast for my soul!!
Any chance you’re going to post an mp3 of Angels?? Please!!
The girls on that site are also very into Jeff Archuleta!
Verrry interesting.
beebee and daisawesome -- The David writing thing is the future. He will continue to be compared with Elton John, I have no doubt. It’s amazing to think about, but what we have experienced so far is just the tip of the volcano.
The only one I can compare him with in my experience is Barbra. But even so, Barbra was always slightly more impressive than she was connecting. I don’t mean to suggest that she did not connect to heart, my God, she does, but there was always that cognizance of craft… With David, it’s sort of the opposite… His craft is often impeccable, but his heart connection is still more than that.
Hey guys, EW listed David as one of the top 20 albums we can’t wait to listen to:
http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20225933_10,00.html
Ah, Rascal, “the tip of the volcano.” Never heard that before -- love it -- warm, molten hot, organic, fiery!
Duly noted and fully understood rascal. I heart.gif you, ya know that, right?!
Re: #168 If you keep clicking through, the next photo gallery set is “15 Greatest Emmy Moments” and the first is, low and behold….Barbra. Woah, freaky. Rascal, did you have something to do with that?
I have thought of Barbara a lot where David’s concerned. I remember when I was, gosh, maybe David’s age (?) — maybe a little younger, and I got my paws on “Color Me Barbara” I was stunned! But I completely agree with you, there is something more immediate in the David delivery.
I’m still intrigued with the hints of David-penned songs in the “David Archuleta” debut CD. If in fact there are songs by David on it, then it’s in the present, I’d say. I can’t say I’m aware of any comparisons to Elton John (snazzy shades notwithstanding…lol) And I guess no comparison at this time would be founded on anything, given we have yet to really sample a David-penned song to date. I have full confidence in him, and oh, the deliciousness of the anticipation. And more so the revelation—Can’t WAIT!
ps-- I am forever saying we’ve only see the tip of the iceberg. (Volcano is more like it!)
So that’s why you’re sporting the Elton Archuleta Davatar! Betsy-funny stuff I must say.
Daisawesome-Whassup? Long time..
Deb-If Jackryan doesn’t/didn’t make an mp3 I made one for all of the Ford Day DA songs. Just gotta put them on my 4shared page.
http://www.4shared.com/dir/6489373/7d2a20c0/sharing.html
I’ll put them in the live perf. mp3 section. There’s a bunch of other stuff on there in the meantime.
I got really goosebumpy watching that imagine. Like for the entire duration of the video. No one else can do that to me!
“cognizance of craft… ”
I think what you’re getting at as the key difference between Barbra and David is one sings like a bonafide DIVA (“I”m good, aren’t I, my beloved fans?”) and the other sings like “it’s not coming from me!”
As someone else said, the difference between “Here I Am!” and “There You Are!”
Ah yes, Rascal, Barbra…interesting. I agree Barbra has a great voice. I always have a very warm feeling awash over me whenever I hear her. There is something maternal about her, I guess. But with David’s voice, it’s not only that he’s a guy, but his age has something to do with it as well, particularly with him being on the edge of maturing into an adult. His voice gives me a more complex reaction, with layers upon layers of sensory experiences, plus a curiously psychological, and existentialistic response as well. I have always thought, and have no way of knowing, what it would be like if he did not have the vocal paralysis, if I would have the same response if his vocal cords were not damaged.
And I am just talking about the voice. I haven’t even touched on his personality, his intellect, and his emotionality that enhances his musicality.
Hello Gorgeous….
Though I hate to paraphrase Paula… but,
“That about sums it up for me.”
JesseQ : hey, you, how’s it going? I can’t seem to play the Imagine full version mp3 from the link above.
Does anyone have a version that is playable?
daisawesome- #175 -- Let’s not ignore the fact that Barbra was not very much older than David when she came to the attention of New York nightlife (which, in the early ’60s, was as important, if not more so, than the kind of attention heaped on young performers by American Idol today). Barbra was--what?--19 when she made her first album?
HG the best! :p
Wow there are quick at 4shared already flagged my lil imagaine ford day mp3 as possible copyright infringement. Stealthy.
bigbrothery
Okay changed the name to David’s Ford Day Imaginemasterpiece. That should work. http://www.4shared.com/dir/7590060/d23d4049/David_Archuleta_-_Live_Performance_mp3_-_American_Idol.html
Just checked it works. I didn’t take out the b4 banter, kinda like it.
I have thought this for a long time so here it is: I think David has the soul of a hippie- without the messiness and drugs! He is forever wearing peace signs on his shirts, spreading love wherever he goes and now he goes and uses the word “trippy”. My husband STILL uses that word and he is an ex-hippie from way back.
peace, love and understanding
lol, bigbrothery?
Jesse: still can’t download Imagine masterpiece.
ha ha ha! David….A hippie!! WOW, man…wayyy cool!
now that idea IS funny, in a “trippy” kinda way!! Ha!
I’m having a blast reading all the posts!
#183 Betsy -- Oh My Freakin’ Gosh, a hippie, in a warm fuzzy kinda way or as Silverfoxe said “wayyy cool”….”in a trippy kinda way!!”
Ooh, Barbra discussion! *starts to salivate*
Yes, my Barbra obsession began a couple of years ago, to the point that I started a barbralove Youtube channel. (Haven’t added much to it lately, but oh well! Gotta keep up with David!)
I too am awed by David like I am by the young Barbra: an amazing, freakish talent at such a young age. Though Barbra came into the spotlight a couple years older than David (yes, her first album was when she was 19), she had that instinct of phrasing, and beautiful tone to her voice, combined with a youthful “fire.” I like her earlier stuff better because of that “fire,” that hunger to perform and connect, that desire for new experiences. Her album version of “People” brings me to tears.
I think with David, though, that his “hunger” will be longer lasting, because of his unique approach to music and fame — I get the impression that connecting is truly what drives him, and always will drive him. I agree with what someone said above — he’s less “Here I am!” and more “There you are!” And also, if he lives a life rich with experience, as a SONGWRITER he will be able to create new songs, new emotions to capture and convey, and challenge himself musically for years and years to come.
Yeah, a “New Age” hippie without the dirty hair!!
I remember at first not “getting” his seemingly self-effacing comments about being an airhead. (I suppose, *technically* it has to be filed under self-effacing, doesn’t it?) But as time went by, I began to see his spacey side, and L..O..V..I..N..G….I..T lol! Maybe that’s the *hippie-dippie* side of David! (love it!)
Jesse -- Thanks so much for sharing your files!! I’m listening to Angels as I type.
Flower power! Right on!
OK, #189 betsy -- you have me with the “New Age” hippie. Hmmm….I have to think on this. It opens alot of avenues for thought. Thank you!
I can’t imagine David dressed in hippie garb, standing on a floating iceberg, while it’s being melted by the lava from the tip of the volcano, trying to sing the Imagine Masterpiece and connecting with all the Barbra fans out there, all the while I am here swearing up and down because I can’t download the dang Full Version of the Imagine Masterpiece — I don’t consider it funny at all….
oh, ronaldsf, how gorgeous that you were able to join this particular part of the thread. So glad I got Barbra’s first album age right!
There are many differences and many similarities. Barbra was always savvy. David is not naive, but he’s not exactly savvy, either.
I wonder when David will be able to sing, “How does the wine taste? I think I know…”
hello gorgeous #174 oooooh! yes! I like the way you said that.
David’s got you all “trippin”…..haha!
He’s just got you all in the PALMS of his beautiful hands!!
Think about it….all David has to do is BREATH and you’re ALL trippin”!!!
NOT ME though!! Oh wait…was that CRUSH on the radio….GAH!! Fell off the dang chair…..eeee…it is David!!!
Oh and by the way…….Barbra IS a hippie nowadays!
Oooooh, trippy! Kinda David-ish, man.
I’d like to build the world a home
And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees
And snow-white turtle doves
I’d like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I’d like to hold it in my arms
And keep it company
(That’s the song I hear)
I’d like to see the world for once
(Let the world sing today)
All standing hand in hand
And hear them echo through the hills
For peace throughout the land
That’s the song I hear
(That’s the song I hear)
Let the world sing today
(Let the whole wide world keep singing)
A song of peace that echoes on
And never goes away
Put your hand in my hand
Let’s begin today
Put your hand in my hand
Help me find a way
I never thought I would find any singer that I would ever enjoy as much as Barbra -- until I heard David. I’m sure we would all agree that she is brilliant and I will always love to listen to her, but David adds a dimension to his music that I don’t think anyone can touch. It just shows you that singers of this caliber are so very few and far between. Barbra’s several generations older than David. Look how long we all had to wait! I’m just glad that I am around to experience them both.
Oooh! It’s all so 60′s -- 70′s in here tonight! The creativity and good vibes are humming throughout the night!
Yup!!! YOU ALL have LOST IT!!!
Next you’ll have David & family driving around in a flowers & birds painted bus…. like the Partridge Family!!
I could so see David as a hippie … in a Jesus Christ Superstar kind of way.
If I can just tiptoe in here with a teeny little Elton John comment? I always thought no one could sing Elton John BUT Elton John -- and then David just smashed me with DLTSGD and, well… now… I KNOW no one can sing Elton John but DAVID.
daisawesome! lol! I can feel your pain!! I could e-mail you an mp3 if you wish. It’s not Jesse’s, but it’s good and has all the banter in it. (Heck, I can run download Jesse’s, too, if you’d prefer, and send that!.)
This Barbra conversation has got me thinking. I remember when Judy Garland seemed to ‘pass the torch’ to a young Barbra during one of her specials. Then, Barbra seemed to ‘pass the torch’ to Celine Dion. And, it seems that Celine recently gave a nod to Christina Aguilera. Such a long line of divas.
I remember Melissa Manchester mentioned in an interview once that the ‘big voice must have its way.’
I’ve been trying to think of any male vocalists who hit me like David does. Sure there was Elvis in the charisma category, and Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennet in the phrasing category -- but male divas . . . ? I can’t think of any. David seems to be in a class of his own.
I can see the comparisons to Elton John, and I also see a correlation with Billy Joel who has a very broad and varied body of work. And they both sing, write, and play the piano.
But again, David, to me, is in a class of his own. And I just looked up the derivation of diva: “derives from the Latin ‘divus’ meaning ‘divine’.”
I should have known.
Did someone say David Cassidy? OMG! NOT a great singer…but his pictures sure made good wallpaper back in 1972. uh huh….
Thanks beebee, but I just got it downloaded through another link at Rickey’s. It sounds awesome!!!!!!!!!!
Hello everyone! I got pics and vids of everything today at Ford Day and will have them to rascal early tomorrow. Had a great time today! You all probably know now that David performed Crush, the full Imagine, and Angels, all unplugged and/or with backing tracks. It was a very small venue, and both Jeff and David were very accessible and hanging out afterward. I got to talk with both of them.
David loved Rabid’s artwork that is at the top of this new thread (I printed out a copy for him and Jeff). Jeff also recognized Rabid’s work and complimented him on it.
VERY fitting lyric, Rascal! And what a beautiful song that was!
But one thing I liked about Barbra’s savviness was how take-charge she was of her own self-presentation. She made sure to get artistic control over her music at the age of 19, at a time when such a thing was unheard of! (1961 I think) Then she does a TV special that’s like a “concept album” with no guest stars, just her and her voice! After David’s obligatory first album, I’d like to see David get the same chutzpah!
While going over Barbra’s 60s stuff, I thought wistfully that I wished I had been alive at the time, to see her bloom in her early years, when her voice was at its height and combined both power and purity. (I’m 31.) And now I get to see David! How lucky we all are!
I love all this hippie talk!
As strange and as time-warpy as it is, it’s no surprise that the spark of idealism and change should come from the youth…
slvrfox….I hope I didn’t chase you away with my no all caps request. Please come back!
NEW IMAGINE! (Wanda’s!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q52y6Pi1Uhg
Yes, ronaldsf, I too much prefer her early songs. I think I’ve seen “Funny Girl” thousands of times and to this day can probably recite every line, (that’s why I thought “Hello Gorgeous’s” screen name was so funny and why didn’t I think of that first?) I’m not saying that David has taken the place of Barbra in my heart -. she just moved over to make room for him to share.
kindredspirit#205, you do realize the horrendous decline that you presented with the “passing of the torch” once you went from Barbra to Celine and then (yikes!) Christina Aguilera. No disrespect, as they are both great singers, but they are not nearly ready to be considered “legendary,” which, as far as I’m concerned, is a prerequisite to being a bonafide diva.
50 years from now, we will still hear the standards from Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand. Celine and Xtina? Not so much.
No wonder we’re all so excited by the promise of David Archuleta. We really have been waiting a long time for the next generation legendary singer.
Funny conversation! Just told houstonrufus that as beautfiul as David sang Imagine today, he is not the same person he was when he sang it the first time on AI. Talk about a hippie! Sincere, innocent and enthusiastic idealism, straight from the heart and soul, truly believing he could make a difference. (And he did I might add.) I’m glad he did the entire song today, just to set it apart from what he did on AI, because nothing will ever match that first performance.
Freo! I look forward to your full review (and pics! videos!) when you’re ready to share here.
Wanda’s “Imagine” from today is incredible!!! We watched it through her camera afterward today and were amazed. Definitely check it out!
I got full vids of Crush, Angels, and most of Imagine, which I’ll post in the morning. Knowing my camera, my sound may be better than the picture.
#211 beebee, thanks so much for the link to Wanda’s Imagine. question, can you make out what David is saying in the beginning? I’ve listened a half dozen times and can’t figure it out……After he says “anyway enough about that” it’s clear, but nothing before that. Help??? and thanks so much.
Before he sang Imagine, David was trying to explain that he likes singing slow songs, but his words got a little jumbled and he giggled. At least I think that what’s he was trying to say! I got what he said on my vid.
Is a lot of rambling and then patching holes of what he was saying lol. He said that the next song wouldn’t take as much energy as Crush, and that he supposes he does slower songs better. Then he realizes that he implied that Crush sucked, so he interrupts himself and says “Not to say that I was terrible at Crush!”
And then he realizes that might sound like he thought did well on Crush, so he says “… at least I hope I’m not anyway!”
Oh David!
boy, I am WAY too overstimulated today! LOL. PHEW! I need a time out.
hello gorgeous #213: I guess, not being a legendary singer myself, I was thinking “it takes one to know one” which is how I interpreted those duets. But, then again, it could have been savy marketing.
So if we can agree on Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand, I still wonder if there is any male predecessor to David.
And maybe his predecessor is in the classical music world (I know his myspace favorites used to include a clip of Pavarotti), because I can’t think of one in the contemporary music world.
I am glad he sang Imagine the full version for two reasons:
1) to shut up the “critics” who claimed he didn’t sing the first and second verses on AI because of his religion.
2) to compare it to his age 13 version of the same song. Quite a big difference.
beebee#211, thanks for that link!
Wow!! Best video version of Imagine! I agree, Freo, absolutely incredible! (sniffle)
Loved the new Video. Watched it in full screen and he looks directly at the camera several times while singing. This full version is so heartbeakingly beautiful I can hardly bear it. Just listen to how he sings “A brotherhood of man”. There are no words.
I think his first AI performance of Imagine cannot be compared to, because so much of its power and impact was because he was relatively unknown on the show and it was the first time he really “let go” in front of the national audience. Those conditions you cannot replicate.
At a musical level though, I think this performance is right up there. Like his 2nd AI performance, he overcame the technical problems, but at the same time he returned to the relaxed intimacy of his 1st performance. I think this is a winner.
It’s one that doesn’t take as much energy as Crush, but that’s what I tend to be, you know, better at I guess, I don’t know. But, you know, Not, like I’m terrible at fast stuff, at least I hope not anyway. But you know, I don’t know. you, I don’t know, I guess you just get really intimate with the slow songs. But anyway, enough of that. This next song I will be singing…..”
^_^
Let’s all say “THANK YOU, WANDA!” (she’s so upset at herself for the phone mishap that cut off her “Crush” video… she needs some LOVE.)
Barbra was/is brilliant! And it wasn’t so much that she herself thought she was a DIVA, even though I think she is the only
female singer worthy of that title, it’s that she didn’t share her gift with her fans IN PERSON often. There are no other female singers who can touch her. I read that she suffered from extreme stage fright which made it too hard for her to perform in concert very often. Making movies or recording was easier for her. I wonder if that is true? Her acting ain’t bad either! I am so glad David got over his shyness enough to share his gift with us. There’s one song by Barbra I would love to hear David sing…”SOMEWHERE”.
Yes indeedie…a singer like David comes along once, maybe twice if we’re lucky, in a lifetime. But the likes of David…I have never seen in my life!
So….wonder where or who the “ring” came from?? Surely will be the “next question”??
Ok, you all can go on trippin with your flower-child, peace, love
and pass the……gum ( David chews gum all the time )! He’s really good at hiding it though.
#219 Ronaldsf -- “Oh David” INDEED. thanks for your help and you too Freo!
kindredspirit, I cannot think of any male singer who David can be compared to either. Come to think of it, on the first Larry King Live, he was asked to compare himself to someone, and David didn’t think he was in a category with anyone. I remember one of my first impressions of David was that I had never heard anyone sing like him, and kept asking myself “is he really only 17″? Lord have Mercy, I WILL keep myself fit and healthy so that I can see David achieve his full potential -- my bucket list will then be complete.
David is both rambly and “inarticulate,” but also very ARTICULATE. He just contradicts himself because the way thinks is very dynamic and complex, and he sees both sides of the same thing, from different viewpoints, and how they connect to other things.
And, as rambly and convoluted he is sometimes, he gets his point across. He’s a great communicator. And I’m not talking musically either. ^_^
Thank you, Wanda!!
thank you Juliebug!!
Silverfoxe -- rumor has it that his Abuelita gave the ring to him in Tampa. The significance? Don’t know. And not sure if it’s true or not.
Thank you Wanda!!!!
I read about the ring on another site. (FB) It’s a CTR ring. A Morman tradition. To remind one to be righteous.
Translated, CTR means “choose the right”.
Someone on FOD who is LDS predicts that the ring in engraved with CTR (Choose the Right), something commonly worn by members of the LDS Church as a reminder to always choose righteousness.
CTR…..Ah….in other words….”Resist the power of the dark side, my son.” Sorry, don’t mean to make light of it. It’s pretty cool actually.
Juliebug and Betsy, do you have a source for these ring stories? I’m only asking because a number of his young fans have already interpreted the ring to be a “purity ring,” even though David’s not wearing it on the left ring finger, which is typically how such rings are worn.
There is something that happens about 2/3rds of the way through almost every one of his really brilliant performances. It’s in this one, too. It’s when he really settles in to that other place and then brings it home.
HG -- just third, fourth or fifth hand info I saw somewhere. That’s why I called it a rumor, because it didn’t come from the horses mouth as it were. Truthfully, I’m not sure what site I was on when I saw it.
Makes perfect sense to me that David would wear a ring from Abuelita (grandmama). But you KNOW there are whispers and mumbles everywhere about “the ring”! ha-ha! There may not be any significance other than to say I Love You & Think of Me!!
Every itty-bitty thing connected with David is NEWS!!
Another question I have that I KNOW no one but me, it seems, cares about… What happened to “THE SUIT”?? It’s very valuable, you know!!
Several people wrote in to Fanblast that it is a CTR ring. I read it there and then, of course, googled it! No one mentioned a purity ring at all.
Silverfoxe, I completely agree on the Abuelita thing. But you know everything David wears is going to have major significance and symbolism (including the SUIT!).
Silverfoxe -- I know that you love the suit…but I have to say I hope that they had a good wiener roast.
juliebug — LOL, I couldn’t have said it better myself!
I think I have to go now as I have a severe case of the munchies! LOL
It’s kind of late to be going to the store but oreos are calling my name.
lol… juliebug… (ding dong the suit is dead…)
ok, so this “Imagine” vid is dark, but it captures all that fun *rambly* stuff in the beginning.

247 comments on this thread since I’ve even logged on?!? Gah!! Apologies if I’m repeating anything that’s been said already, I can’t read it all at the moment, but wanted to say…
Wow. The silence of Angels. That Ford Day performance sounded strange to me somehow, and then I realized--the audience isn’t screaming through it, they’re LISTENING! What a concept!!!
Oh and IMAGINE! I ***loved*** that he sang the “no religion” verse. That verse embraces ALL of humanity, to me. I don’t interpret that verse as saying religion is a bad thing, but there should be no exclusions. I’ve never been able to be religious because I can’t imagine a god that picks some people over others. Singing that verse is not so much a put down of religion as it is a raising up of all that is Spirit. No borders to draw in the sand. No wars. LOVE IT!!
Rascal #240, how observant of you!!! You are so right, he always does seem to “power up” toward the end of every song! and how much do we all LOVE that?
highervibe -- #249 -- Beautifully said. Beautifully said.
This was a fun party, but betsy mentions munchies and I realize I should get some too. Until tomorrow, everyone! *waves*
Just watched David sing IMAGINE to “me” again…yes, I can imagine whatever I want!!
juliebug, rascal, beebee….WHAT!! I can’t believe you said all those horrible things about “The Suit”..just because it looked like belonged in the ’60′s….On David, it looked….ok, it just looked “shiny”…but I am telling you…it’s not going!!… anywhere
but to the David memorabilia vault to be brought out maybe for the R&R Hall of Fame……or Maybe even for a movie of David’s life..based on the book by RASCAL!!! Dream Sky High!!!
As long as he himself no longer has to wear it, silver … lol
jez sayin’…
…hey… you can mount it on the hood of your car . . .
Nite, HG!
David & David at the end, including the hat:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrCS9sq-boY
Silverfoxe…..it’s so shiny I could probably use it to cover my turkey this Thanksgiving if I were to run out of aluminum foil.
(julie, why waste perfectly good foil if you don’t have to)
Oh my gosh! Have you seen the latest photographs at FOD?? Better go have a look. Sweet dreams, everyone. Can’t wait for Rascal’s post tomorrow …
Ok guys, this is nifty… there are some new versions of David’s Ford performance. I have set them all up in sendspace — for both HQ video & audio versions.
What is so nifty is that when you set them up in you playlist as performed — it is as if you are watching the complete set of David, inclusive of his banters/spiels & audience reactions
So here you go & enjoy!

Wow! Comments are flowing. I listened to cellcast and watched Rickey’s expressions and all the comments of the crew. Even though the sound was bad there was such excitement in Rickey with his head wings and the crew with their comments, that I found it exhilarating. It was a well spent lunch hour.
However, watching the lovely videos and hearing clear sound is fantastic. I had to wonder how David would do Crush as it had so many layers with him singing background. When I first heard the song I was amazed at how many words it had for a pop song. Even here he wants to tell a story. I imagine he will experiment with live performances with Crush until he has it totally mastered. All those ayyys have to take a bit of energy.
I think Angels and Imagine are now his songs. He is just awesome even without backup singers and music from a box. We are fortunate to be here at this time in music history!
The suit could have been worse.

click on ELVISBLOG: Images in Gold Lame !
OMG! Elvis’ suit could have probably picked up AM radio stations. Are we sure it was him singing? LOL!
Paired with rasca’s avatar’s glasses probably ! haha
Chikee & ronaldsf -- i just posted new vids and audio files where you can clearly hear what David id saying before and after each song…. #260 post
I’ve been lurking in and out all night (ssshh…….) I have “company” and I just have to say this has been the best party I have attended this whole year. You guys are hilarious!!
Silverfoxe- I’m surprised that David didn’t have the “vest “on when he was singing IMAGINE to you.
Goodnight all, I had a wonderful day.
Well since no one else wants “The Suit” I’ll take it. Who do I call…who do I write to? If David left it behind….it’s long gone, to reappear when…you know when, I’ve only said it a hundred
times! When I’m long gone and all you youngsters look like me…and you see it behind protective glass, you will remember this cra-zeh lady who turned out not to be so cra-zeh after all…wait & see!!
watching all the Ford/David videos once more…then g’nite til
tomorrow…can’t wait for rascal’s new article!
David….May he have sweet dreams..may he always be safe, secure and happy!
OMG! The suit and glasses HUBBA HUBBA
Okay people. I started reading 1 hour ago when they were only 183 entries. I have 9 windows open waiting for me to watch the videos, I stopped reading at the 114th entry to log in and noticed that you are at the 266th!!
What just happened? Rascal this must be the most comments in the shortest time.
I will go youtubing before my computer crashes or my heart can’t take it any more.
Geesh, took me a couple/few hours to catch up with all the news ‘n vids. Thanks to ALL for superb reportage!! But the main thing I want to know is… where are these glasses on rascal’s avatar that keep getting mentioned? Is my browser avatar-challenged?
Thank you all for posting the pictures (jackryan4DA), and all the links. Thank you all for being such diligent DAFAns and allowing the rest of us to enjoy it too.
Loved the three songs. However, my favorite Angels is from his last concert, but I did love hearing him sing without all the screaming.
I hear the songs with my eyes closed and it feels like a warm Brownie with vanilla ice cream melting in my mouth.
Well, I still have 6 more videos to watch.
highervibe: I’m not extremely technical, but I found something at gravatar.com that might explain it. It is under Help > Common Questions > How do I Clear My Cache?. Good luck.
Just got back to Toronto after experiencing the Ford Day mini-concert. I feel incredibly blessed to have been at this magical afternoon.
The exquisite beauty of David’s 3 songs has left me so emotionally spent, I don’t know how I’ll be able to handle a whole Archie concert!
In brief, Angels was pure rapture — runs like cascading waterfalls; Crush was dynamite, the vids don’t do it justice; Imagine… Imagine… Imagine — no language has yet been invented to describe how sublime this was.
He had that audience eating out of his hand and hanging on every word. A star is born.
(Wonderful to meet you Freo and everyone.) I love the whole world right now. Sorry for the sleep-deprived rambling. Good night.
My Oh My What a wonderful day! Rascal I love your site and Rabid’s pics at the top!
I seriously have been staring and grinning at my computer all evening! Oh David! David! David! You are so good to us!
Freo I’m looking forward to your review and pics! And Wanda you’re videos are amazing! Night everyone!
beebee #172, “…we have yet to really sample a David-penned song to date” – You’d be happy to know there is one actually and I hope it’s ok to share this as I don’t think this info that came from Jeff is a secret in any way. There were a lot rumor type comments I read months ago on YouTube that David had written “Don’t Tell Me” (sung before his voice change) and I always wondered about this, so when my friend (please confirm this if you see this!) told me she was going to the after party, I asked her if she could ask Jeff this question if she had a chance (so she didn’t have to use up her precious time with David asking a question for me!) and Jeff confirmed that it was co-written by David and a friend who was then in his 20s. David mostly did the music, the friend mostly did the words. I was incredibly thrilled to get this bit of info from a source that couldn’t be more reliable.
vermeer, Yes, I asked Jeff who wrote “Don’t tell me” on behalf of vermeer at the after-party in Evansville. In addition to what vermeer said, Jeff added that the song wasn’t a rebellion against him, but a rebellion against society.
TOfan, get a good night sleep. Thrilled to know you got hear David live!! The vids alone are so terrific, but you heard all this live! His voice is so powerful and rich. I really enjoyed Crush because it sounded so much richer and resonant than the studio recording, though of course I love that too.
silverfoxe, sorry for all the hate for your beloved sparkly suit. I don’t hate it but didn’t love it exactly. Thought it was an odd choice of wardrobe for someone so young, but he wore it 53 times! So that makes it exceptionally valuable indeed. Good night all.
Well, you have all made me very happy tonight. Thank you Thank you.
Great party Rascal. Sweet dreams to all of you.
Wait, I still need to check FOD, someone mentioned they have some great pictures.
Rascal, can’t wait to see what you’ll be writing about tomorrow, can’t wait to read Freo’s review, can’t wait for Nov. 11.
THANKS davidfanLIZ!! The additional info is also very interesting because the lyrics seemed so uncharacteristic of David, that is if we were to presume he is not of the rebellious type. But anyhow, the lyrics came mostly from the friend.
Thanks for the info, vermeer! If you don’t mind, I’m going to quote that over at the Artist thread on IDF, so we can analyze it to death lol!
It’s amazing how much of a pop sense he had at an early age -- I think that song could have done quite well actually, with the right singer and producer!
Silverfoxe -- Amy at Snarky Archies posted this…
“A fan asked what had come about David’s glittery Idol suit. Jeff said he didn’t know. Another fan suggested putting it up for auction and donating the proceeds to charity. Jeff got REALLY excited. So keep an ear out for that, if you’d like to splurge on that glorious glitteriness.”
Maybe you’ll have your chance yet! You could purchase it and leave it to the Smithsonian in your will…for the Natural History Museum…same floor as the dinosaur exhibit would be apropos. Or maybe you could seal it in a time capsule and bury it in your back yard. It might be in style again in a hundred years. Or have it let loose during the next mission to outer space. It would make a great looking satellite and it would make the people at SETI happy because extraterrestrials would finally be curious enough to contact us. LOL!
(just yankin’ your chain -- it’s fun to tease you)
So , I too was one of the blessed people who attended Ford Day… So overwhelmed that I can”t process right now. There really are no words to express what David does to me , and to all of us .I am so thankful.
David, David David!!!!
Juliebug, that suit was NEVER in style, especially not on a 17 year old heart throb! I loved the idea of putting it on the dinosaur floor…that seems the perfect setting…
I can’t wait to read Rascal’s new article tomorrow, and more write ups of Ford day… what fun it’s been to watch today’s action!
271 -- kindredspirit -- Hey! Hey! That worked! Thanks! Now I can see that l’il rascal! haha Annnnd…now vermeer can see my self portrait in oil that I tried to swap out days ago. Oh, and it changes all the earlier posts too. OK, think I’ll work on a new one now.
Pardon my OCD for a moment…
Barbra was *20* when recording her first album… *blushes and scurries away*
Whoops, now a different pic is stuck in my cache--oh well, this is mo’ bettah--would rather look at David!
OH! vermeer & dafanLIZ Thanks for the “Dont Tell Me” info. I had heard those rumors (and I LOVE the song!) and never had heard any confirmation or further info. So, yes, we do have a co-penned (not lyrics, but…hey…) David song. (Elton John? meh… not so much…lol) And he must have been, what,13? 14?. Gosh, I love David Archuleta.
This is a review by a Ford Day concert goer at http://www.snarkyarchies.com/ titled “Amy’s lame-o concert review.” Scroll down on the page to find it.
‘Imagine’! I think there was an audible gasp when he said he was about to sing ‘Imagine.’ At least, on Tamara’s audio there is, because she did gasp and tears started leaking out of her eyes. And she wasn’t the only one. Every set of eyes I met during that performance was a bit too moist for normal eye comfort. If I thought ‘Angels’ filled the room and reverberated within you, ‘Imagine’ possessed your entire conscience. Hooo-ly cow. Can you get more on? I don’t know how it’s possible because I don’t think I’ve ever experienced music that way before, because it was both a slap in the face and a caress and a toe stomp and a hug. Dang, David. Dang.
He got a standing ovation. Everyone stood up willingly, clapping and wooing because it was in-cred-i-ble. I feel like I experienced something extraordinary, like my heart’s dripping and bouncing all in my chest and my eyes are a little wet and I don’t know why – that kind of feeling. You know. The feeling you get when David sings ‘Imagine’ 30 feet in front of you and you catch every dollop of love he’s marinating those words in. Ohhh.
From highervibe:
“Oh and IMAGINE! No wars. LOVE IT!!”
Love this, and I feel exactly the same way as you do. My copy of him singing this song is precious to me.
I’ve come to expect surprises from David, but I’m thrilled that the surprises are always so stunningly GOOD.
Don’t know if anyone posted this particular link here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqfxFDIg7w0&NR=1
#273 TOfan…A Star Was Born….way back on 12/28/90 in Miami, FL! The STAR was re-discovered in 2008!
If he had the audience eating out of his hand yesterday, and all through the tour, IMAGINE what he’ll do to us at his first REAL
SOLO concert…we’ll all be in a sublime dream-like state, laughing, screaming and crying like fools!! Can’t wait!!
And sorry to be keeping a “dead dinosaur” alive…but
#277 vermeer…Thank You! Exactly!! David wore THE SUIT 52 times and only the pants in Tampa, I think. Valuable..I Think so!
#281 juliebug..Auction of THE SUIT…actually I had thought of that…but I would have to win a couple of lotteries….the bids would be wayyy out of my league for sure!! But, hey maybe not since everyone but me hates it. Yeah…AUCTION it! Good idea…I’ll mortgage my house…no problema!!
TOfan, refnaf and others who attended the Ford Day show:
Well, if that is what a David tour show is going to be like, then I’m just going to have to quit my job and follow him.
Good morning, all! I just wanted to share this link from Rolling Stones’ Fall Music Preview about David’s 11/11 album release:
http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/23181054/page/40
As an aside, can I just say how beyond annoyed I am that 1)they’ve reduced his album premiere as an American Idol David vs. David competition yet again (meanwhile, if you look at the write-up they did for Cook, it’s all about his album being a future Joshua Tree or White Album -- I kid you not!) and 2) just from the song “Crush” they think they can judge the whole thing from that one single, even though we’ve been given clues that it’s going to be more eclectic than that.
Ageism -- the belief that anyone younger than age 25 (or just in general, anyone not legally old enough to have sex) or older than age 25 (or just in general, anyone who is too old to enjoy sex without medical intervention) is irrelevant -- is a beautiful thing, isn’t it? Because what other explanation do we have for this dismissal of David’s obvious musical gifts? Ugh!
Now, I need my feel-good David video fix to get me in a nicer mood.
hello gorgeous,
here’s my take on the ‘dismissal’ or underestimation of David’s musical gifts by certain people in the industry. He’ll be a nice surprise, right? I’d rather he surpass expectations than have to live up to them. (As might be the case for Cook.)
hello gorgeous….What am I going to do with you?! ha ha! You
more than almost any one else here just STRESSES out so much over the “injustices” to David. David ( and we ) will have the “last laugh” as they say. He has already exceeded many expectations! He will continue doing so.
The “David Competition”, unfortunately was, is and will continue to be news for a long while. The really good thing is that their music styles are so different. What a nightmare if they weren’t!
Cook is very good at what HE does and sings…our David is exceptional in everything he sings and is getting sooo much better in his “stage” presence, even though all he really has to do is BE present..the VOICE and LOOKS do the rest. Cook needs the guitar and the stage banter to reel the audience in…Our David has us as soon as he steps on stage. That he is sometimes awkward and laughs that unique laugh of his just endears him to us even more.
To be honest, I did not like Cook at all on AI, but he has been decent to our David and for that alone, I applaud him. On the other hand, I can’t help but wonder if he knew right off that our David is special and it would be to HIS (Cook ) advantage to stay close to him….My instincts tell me that Cook will have a rather short career as “rockers” go, but our David will be a LEGEND in his own time. Be patient….if THIS album doesn’t WOW everyone and I buh-lieve it will…there will be many more.
You’re right about that, Kait. But, I guess I’m still bothered that the bar has even been lowered at all. At least Cook, if he fails, can be recognized as someone aiming for musical relevance, while David is simply reduced to his status on American Idol.
Where is the recognition that he has any musical relevance at all? If David was Cook’s age (25), they wouldn’t be dismissing him like this, and that’s why I’m calling out the ageism here. I know David will surpass all expectations, but I’m peeved that he even has to when, I would think, his talent speaks for itself.
Silverfoxe, I know I had promised you no more worries, but I can’t help myself! I am a find-the-injustice-and-shoot-it-down type of person. (I don’t mind being the Avenging Angel type, BTW, because David’s goodness prevails because there are those of us willing to fight to protect it).
It’s not so much about “stressing” about it, as it is just the continued underestimation of someone’s talent that irks me. I hate when mediocrity prevails because we don’t recognize excellence when it stares us in the face (whether we’re talking about music or presidential elections or what have you).
I have nothing against Cook, who is obviously talented, but he doesn’t touch me on the level that David does. I do think he will outsell David because he appeals to a larger demographic with the kind of music he will produce. I wouldn’t set myself up for comparison, like he did by saying that he’s aiming to do a Joshua Tree-type album, but then again, Cook is not above self-promotion and he doesn’t do humble, and I can also respect that about him too.
My issue, however, is that no one is laughing or setting Cook up to fail if his album doesn’t live up to the hype he or RCA is setting up, in a way that too many in the media seem to be laughing or hoping for David’s “inevitable” failure. They can’t wait for David to fade off the music scene, and that’s when my Avenging Angel protective mode kicks in gear.
Don’t mean to stress anyone else out there. I’m happy to bear this burden alone, while the rest of you think positive thoughts!
I am so proud of R4D from the Philippines for creating all these beautiful pictures of David. R4D is an artist in his own right and I am so grateful for him to be doing such for David and his fans. David in the above picture no doubt has got the most handsome face of any 17 years old. Perfect!
I keep my positive thoughts on David, because of his passion to music. Sometimes, it depends how you define “success”… To me, I hope David could sing what he wants to sing, and get the support from the people who really love his music, more than to be a top seller. “Top seller” is a dividend. I am not saying sales not important, but compared to the sales, I concentrate more on his album… when there is the good music, there is supporter… though we don’t have the same taste.
HG I understand what you’re saying. It chaps may a**, too.
I had the same reaction when I saw the Rolling Stone snippets. I try not to get worked up about it, but I don’t always succeed. This little tidbit from IDF distracted me in a GOOD way, and led me away from my aggravation, so thought I’d pass it along.
ARCHUCOOK
David had been getting many warnings from different Adcraft workers saying “Okay David, 3 more minutes!” or “One more picture!” but he stayed for at least a half hour after these warnings. (Random: every time he’d get a time warning, he’d go “Uh oh guys!” Awww.) Cook, I think, left for a second, came back, and said “David, are you gonna come?” and by his tone I thought he meant “Are you ever gonna leave??”.. but then Cook corrected himself and said “I mean, are we gonna be on the same flight?” And I think Archie said “I don’t think so”. Then Cook walked up to Archie and gave him a hug. It was so sweet. That makes me really sad that they won’t be around each other very much anymore. I love ArchuCook!! Video of this here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sa6v5GWwQM0
Aw, that really was sweet, and did calm my nerves down. Thanks, beebee!
Let me clarify: I’ve always loved the David-David team -- they’ve been so good to each other and reminded us all that this isn’t about competition. It’s about two artists who have learned to respect and love the other both as musicians and as brothers.
It’s unfair to keep some pretense of a “competition” between the two, especially since the show (and their season) is officially over.
awwww beebee, thanks a million for that video -- gosh, the 2 david’s saying good-bye, it’s sooo sad, yet heartwarming. I really do love them together; the best part of my mornings was waking to the anticipation of the Mavid moments from the night before. Cook bowing to David, then David lifting him up, etc. etc. They are precious together.
HG
It’s hard not to like that little tidbit. You need not clarify, I know that you love the D&D thing and that you were (righteously, I might add) condemning the idiotic and irksome (to be very polite :p) perpetuation of the dang “competition” thing. I wholeheartedly agree.
Chickee lol… it’s just the sweetest thing, isn’t it. It almost makes me cry (in a GOOD way…
) I mean, David Cook is a Grade-A Jokester, for sure, but it’s also so obvious he loves David Archuleta. It never fails to *git* me. *sniff*.
