During debate John McCain grills Barack Obama about his ties to David Archuleta

Hofstra University, Long Island, NY – In a surprising move John McCain veered from the questioning about Barack Obama’s ties to unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers and ACORN.
Barack Obama’s face looked unmoved when McCain questioned Obama about his ties to Bill Ayers or about how Obama first launched his political career in the Chicago home of domestic terrorists Ayers and Bernadine Dorhn. Obama put his hand over his mouth and yawned with boredom. Obama then rolled his eyes when McCain and moderator CBS’ Bob Schieffer peppered Obama with questions about his association and connection with Ayers.
When McCain brought up Obama’s ties to ACORN, the radical group that is helping the Democratic hopeful register thousands of votes in swing states, many of them fraudulently, Obama was unfazed, shook his head, and said “More politics of distraction”.
McCain then brought up Obama’s conversation with Joe the Plumber, the man who Obama told that when he is elected he would raise taxes and “spread the wealth around” to those who didn’t make enough money. Obama quickly said with a smile “John, you are being erratic” and looked unfazed.
Then to the surprise of this reporter and of everyone sitting in the audience John McCain rose from his chair and got five inches away from Barack Obama’s face and said “It seems you left your ipod in the ready room when we were waiting”. McCain held up Obama’s ipod and said “Is it true you have David Archuleta’s Crush on your ipod’s most played list, Mr. Obama, and in front of millions of viewers do you deny it, do you”?
Suddenly in front of millions and millions of TV viewers Barack Obama’s eyes widen with uncertainty. He started to sweat, stutter, and shake and with lips quivering, Obama suddenly blurted out “Yes! Yes! It is true! I love Crush! I have no shame. Yes, my daughters turned me on to Crush and now I am hooked. Sure Archuleta came in second to David Cook on American Idol, but I-I-I just can’t stop listening to it! It’s like crack…I mean, I have it on repeat. You just have to listen to the lyrics…just listen to the words. The song just speaks to me. Have you seen the video…have you!?” Suddenly Obama got angry and pounded the debate desk and shouted “I don’t care, damn it…I just don’t care! Crush just touch me in spots I never knew I had!”
Obama suddenly put his head down on the desk, hiding his face and started sobbing uncontrollably, and McCain turned to the audience and said “I rest my case”.

The other day I caught my husband listening to Crush and he admitted that he did not like it at the beginning, but he now thinks is ‘a really good song’. He was then curious to hear it live, saying that because it has so many layers it would probably be a hard song to sing. I sent him to watch the Ford concert and he said that it sounded even better. yeeeee!

BTW, I was on Long Island Wednesday and Obama stayed at my hotel the night of the Hofstra Univ debate. The police were every where and I had to show my ID just to get into the hotel parking lot as well as secret service (very serious guys with the ear piece, cord down their neck and jacket who watched me like a hawk as I entered the hotel and went to and from my room.) The halls, lobby and elevator were locked down when Obama entered and exited the hotel. I think I saw him listening to his iPod–he was relaxing and finding his center before the debate to the sounds of David–haha–j/k

Presidential, he is–how cool is that He goes back to his High School last week to listen to the choir–how cool is that. Latest post at SnarkyArchie references this and the comments are tear jerkers in terms of him wanting to be “Just David” and recapture his former life.
Just watch world, a new “cool” has emerged and he is David Archuleta.
Kizzi – thanks for the link to the snarky choir concert reference. I hadn’t seen that. I love the thought of David returning to his high school to hear the concert.
And I too wish for a president who is closer to being “compassionate, grateful, loving.”
As amusing as the article is, I thought that there was agreement here that divisive subjects like politics would be avoided, most importantly this close to the Presidential election. Like #3, ErinH0611, who put it most tactfully, although I may have a few more things “in common” with Obama than she does, they’re not enough that I like to see his name appear linked with David’s on a blog which I read for “escape” from election news and daily life. I’m just depressed by the eagerness of so many here to link David to Obama and their assumption that all here who care about David and his career necessarily think “their way” about politics. . . and I’m a registered Democrat.

Isabella — Although I appreciate your sentiments, I feel compelled to point out two things:
First, I can’t imagine what you are referring to as being “agreement here.” This blog is by no means a democracy…! I don’t know that I ever made any representations about avoiding politics or any other topic that is my prerogative to write about. I have set some ground rules, such as avoiding David’s personal life, but that’s about it.
Second, this article is a joke. As in “ha ha.” There is nothing even remotely political about it.

I went and read it… just a word of encouragement from a lifelong Jersey resident and Springsteen FAN. Springsteen tried the LA-LA land (aka Los Angeles) thing briefy in the 80’s and quickly returned to my area of NJ where he is from. Of course he lives in an upscale town, but he is totally ordinary- see him digging holes at the beach, eating dinner, shopping, walking around- living. No one bothers him or his family- same for BonJovi, his neighbor. And this is suburbia- not a big city where famous people are everywhere. People talk about them but that’s it. We’re happy for them, and used to them. If David wants to be “normal” he’ll figure out the balance. If he wants to be “a star” he can choose that too…

Anywhooo..I just got a call from sis in NM,,she asked me,
what are you doin’?..I asked her, what are YOU doin’? She said, I asked you first..it went on like this for a few minutes cuz neither of us wanted to admit we were online AGAIN!! So we discussed the posts here yesterday & I asked her why SHE doesn’t post here, she said..no, it’s more fun reading the posts, ya never know what gonna come up..it’s like a SOAP one minute and like a comedy sitcom the next..and all the regulars are the star characters with guest stars coming in all the time. rascal is the Producer and Director. Anyway, so we talked about David and notingdavid..and we realized we didn’t even ask about family & how everyone was doing? It was almost like an afterthought to ask just before hanging up..So she said she would email a family progress report..I said I’ll try to get to it, she said she may as well start posting on notingdavid about whats happenin’ in the family back home, cuz then I would be sure to read it, since this is all I do all day & night..I told her she had no room to talk..and we started bringing up MORE things about what we love about David!! I just thought you all would like to know we are like a Soap/sitcom which is pro-buh-blee why we have so many lurkers.., almost as good as TV. hahaha!

And I agree that there are more closet-archies out there. In our office, aside from our president, am the only one who likes David. Of course he was just doing it to get me riled up which he never succeeds.
So I update them re Cook but always accompany it with an update on our David. Sort of warming them up… Then, after giving them a CD of David’s performance during the tour and after hearing Crush — they will not admit to liking him more — but as of late, they have been playing DA’s songs more often now
And they are soooo disappointed with Light On… I was just mum about it. I have always believed that like truth, talent will out, in the end.

I’m a graphic designer, and thus a highly visual person, so when I saw the covers, it just struck me. I actually saw it as positive for both. That’s all…just wanted to explain myself there.

Hey np1107, I’m a graphic designer too! I think both covers are well done. Cook’s with the name “Cook” highlighted in red is clever and with all the distressed texture on the type and background to communicate edginess, etc., but ultimately, the designer and/or art director of David’s cover is the cleverest for choosing to highlight the most important element of the design – DAVID. It is way more eye catching and impactful because we are talking here about the Archugaze!!! I don’t think I am being biased, do you?!

Silver we’re thanking Mariah for encouraging David to use his falsetto. If you read Dean’s ebook, one of his “frustrations”, for lack of a better term, is David’s reluctance to belt out or show his true range. He is known to have a little over 3 octave range.
Dean discussed this “frustration” during Smoky Mountain Memories when he sublimely hit a C#5/Db5 — the highest note he delivered during Idol, excluding the headtones & falsettos in 3 songs I could remember: We Can Work It Out (C5); When You Believe (E5) & Stand By Me (C5).

I have listened and listened and have not fallen in love with new song yet. I love hearing him sing but just have don’t seem to be connecting with the lyrics. He sure has grown in his singing styles and sounds so comfortable with whatever he is singing.
I have just one question about the album covers. I noticed this on tour also. Does David Cook always wear multiple chains? Do all rock singers wear chains? It’s such a petty point but I just have never liked all that paraphenalia around his neck. I do like all the color on David’s cover. They both have that serious face that seems to be the norm for album covers.

Yes, yes!! The bonus tracks!! I would love it if his rendition of CRAZY is on the bonus track..Everyone wants to see & hear that audition that had the judges bowing to him! I still watch his performances on AI, and sometimes I want to push back time so we can experience that first “WHAT JUST HAPPENED” again! I’m sure David would hate to live all that again, but it was just the most intense & exciting time every Tues & Wed night. Then the Tour…again wish I could turn back time for the same reason..except on a daily basis waiting for all the videos & photos of David…what a gift David has been to the world! You know that he said he would like to try some more ACTING cuz he really enjoyed the ICarly gig…We are in for the ride of our lives!! Singing and acting..music & movies or TV…I knew there would be Grammys AND Oscars in his future..I KNEW IT!!

I think Jive is just managing our ODD. After witnessing the reaction of fans during the tour and I suppose monitoring fan activities everytime there is anything about David, they miiiight be a liiitle bit concerned about how we will react if the full track is “leaked”.
Haha, they are probably just being careful for the spazzing, implosion and thudding that might happen! Doesn;t want to be responsible for the subsequent “fallen” angels across the globe. Tee-hee!

I wonder who actually makes the decision about which tracks are included on the album..is it JIVE, David or David & his parents? It looks like this last song was
EMAILED to FOD to get feedback from the fans..now I’m thinking that JIVE would not have done that, but David’s people would have. So Again, who’s making the final decisions about the album? It sounds to me that David is the decider and is including his Fans in the process.

Good morning, guys! I’m up way early, only to discover a new leak?
My thoughts on “A Little Too Not Over You”:
Squeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Love it, love it, LOVE IT!!!
I so hope this is his second single. It’s got a nice hook, and I absolutely love his vocals on the bridge. I like the “hands” songs, but this one really stands out! I could so see this being a hit. When I drive long distance in the car, this is the kind of song I’d be turning up real loud and singing aloud on (and straining my voice b/c David’s vocal mastery is so full on in this one!)
So, on repeat lessons, the song starts off with a little bit of Chris Brown’s With You, a little bit of Usher, then it veers off into a bit of Kelly Clarkson’s “Breakaway.” A nice mix b/t R&B and pop. And the deal breaker: David’s soaring voice. Guaranteed hit!
Please let this be the second single!

Well the continuum of David fans today are so all over the place in what we want to hear from David after the release of Crush and the three snippets.
From “whatever he sings cause it is his voice” to “where are the ballads!” Let’s see from the most popular sites I have read comments that this latest snippet is “boyband,” “bridge sounds like Celine Dion song,” “a Miley sound,” a “Disney sound,” and “r&b backbeat that undergirds the song that could allow it to get some play/crossover onto the urban/rhythmic charts.”
Such a diverse fan base! I am thinking this is a GOOD thing for a recording artist. Anyone know anything about fan bases and recording artist’s success potential?
Remember when people were saying he was boring and could only sing ballads. Now they want ballads and not the pop/R&B/urban sound. Ain’t being human a scream!

I love the song! I think it’s the best of both worlds: has uptempo, but also showcases David’s voice like his ballads do best. It’s so great to hear his soaring voice. He has a phenomenal voice and I just adore it.
I was thinking that it’d be nice to add a more organic feel (and a little less processing) to the guitar strings at the beginning of the song. Other than that, I love the song and it will be amazing if it’s a big hit for David. I can also see myself driving to it, windows down, on a country road!

A couple of days ago I was having regrets about not being that excited about the Hands songs. Even though the songs grew on me, I just didn’t get the quintessential “David” feel from those songs.
I’m pretty sure I said both the Hands songs were probably a couple of the weaker songs on the album, and now, with this one, I’m convinced of it!
“A Little Too Not Over You” IS David. It’s a song that will have people saying “That’s unmistakably David Archuleta!” No one else “makes love to the song,” finessing each word like his life depends on it.
The runs are fantastic! And I love the way the production highlights his intonations – because that’s a big reason David grabs us deep in our souls.
If the “leaks” keep getting better one after the other, then keep these leaks coming, Jive!
(Don’t let the staccato “ohs” at the beginning get to you. Even though those conjure up Boyz 2 Men for me, I still dig ‘em!)
I’ve already got this song on repeat! It’s worked its way into my head now. Love the soaring vocals.
I can already hear the soaring bridge being used as background for an advertisement (for what I don’t know!). But I can see others asking to use the song for their music because the song will be so recognizable and a big hit.
Has anyone checked on rascal?? Did he listen to this latest demo and is just so mesmerized & hypnotized that he can’t move? Ha! that’s really funny cuz ALTNOY has such a cra-zeh beat, you can’t help BUT MOVE to it!

THAT is David’s voice, so clear I can FEEL it his voice flow from the song to my heart & soul. Don’t get why there was any doubt about this song making it to the album that they needed “feedback”, DANG! THIS SHOULD be his NEXT single for sure…oh my heck..unless, I’m out of breath here..THERE’S ANOTHER song that’s even betta than the three demos?? What could it be that comes over me?? At times I can’t moooove, at times I can Barelyyyyy BREATH… like right now! (Sorry, I had to borrow the lyris from WYSYLM).

Jive is doing an awesome job building up buzz; they are being very smart if now people who got tired of hearing him sing ballads on AI are craving a love ballad.
I do hope the next leak is a ballad, for a number of reasons:
1. His vocals soar the best on these types of songs.
2. He’s a heart throb, so he needs a song for the gals (and guys) to swoon over.
3. The mature audience needs a song to make love to (Did I just say that? *ducks for cover*).
So, Jive, if you’re listening, let’s get a taste of that beautiful love song we all know David can knock right out of the park!
Oh and about my post & questions on #83 & 86, about David & his “people” wanting to include his fans in the process of choosing some of the songs for the album..did anyone notice at FOD where they say “SOMEONE needs your help in deciding about this song” not JIVE, but “someone” hmmmm..
hello gorgeous, one thing I like about this song so far is that it is ambiguous. I haven’t heard “girl” in it so far, which makes it easier for everyone to relate to.
