djb..I was fond of THE SUIT cuz I saw the value potential of it…just like the costumes Elvis wore..the originals are in the R&R Hall of Fame, which is where I buh-lieve THE SUIT will be where all the other David, THE VOICE memoribilia. David wore it 52 times!! Just think! And when he started singing, NO ONE even noticed THE SUIT! But love it or hate it..He looked GOOD in it, only David could pull it off..That is MHO…
And you know if he would had worn anything else, I would have thought the same thing. People make fun of me cuz I love THE SUIT..but I LOVE it cuz David WORE it!! so you see..I’m not as cra-zeh as I seem…

Kizzi #22 -- I saw that this morning and have to admit that, although I don’t know anything about the music business or these shows, last night I did wonder why he was performing outside on the Red Carpet -- plus his performance was cut short by a commerical break.

The funnything about this is that this is only the beginning. Hollyscoop caught up with JC Chasez on the red carpet to get the scoop on his cameo with David Archuleta.

What can we expect from the album? JC said, “I did the last song that was on his record. We did it very last minute, but I think the song is good. Working with him is amazing. He has such a strong feeling about who he is as an artist. I did background vocals on the song I did with him.”

I didn’t realize Pat Boone had recorded it, but yes, when my husband and I were dating, he had an Aretha Franklin album (now in our cellar somewhere) with her version of “Friendly Persuasion”. Realmusiclover#71, another great post! I have a different read of Kimmel’s David jokes though: he obviously is a fan like we are, and David got his named dropped at the beginning and the end of the program. He’s arrived, baby!

One more thing before I sign off and try to get some sleep before the morning arrives.

I like what you say here, JR, about how the AMA was David’s “house warming, as it is David’s 1st time to enter The NOKIA Theater as a professional, among his peers.” And didn’t we all witness his grand NOKIA performance from May, when he basically announced that he was here, ready or not? Those industry folks did not forget, regardless of who won the eventual Idol title.

It definitely feels like an initiation of sorts for David, which is why it was awesome for Kimmel to feature him so generously in his banter. No matter how much TPTB went out of their way to relegate David to second-place finish, the theme of AI season 7 was David Archuleta. Great that Cook got to perform on the Red Carpet and to present also, but didn’t it feel like Cook was relegated to his “bartending” status, entertaining the red carpet crowd, among whom David was a featured guest, while the red carpet was rolled out for our very own David, who was greeted by both reporters and fellow celebrities who wanted to get their pics taken with him? (i.e. Annie Lennox, T-Pain, even some porn star by the name of Air Force Amy!). Who would deny that David got the better end of the deal here?

It’s great to witness this “house warming,” for I feel that his “peers” are ready to embrace his Archu-greatness, which they are patiently awaiting when he’s ready to unleash it full force. Watch out World!

On watching that vid again, I realize it’s the one that when I first watched it I HAD to write an email to the “People” editor about because they showed some photo of lord knows who (some random blonde…lol) but it wasn’t Eva Cassidy — so I pointed them to Eva’s Blues Alley YouTube vids and her cousin’s and family’s sites and told them a little about Eva, and asked that they put an actual photo of Eva. (I probably wasn’t the only one who spoke up) But anyhoo, so happy to see they corrected it. (Eva deserves that at the very least.)

#82 -- HG -- Loved, LOVED your “bartending” take on DCook. Believe it or not I am starting to feel faint stirrings of sympathy for him. How does it feel to him that on paper -- he is the American Idol, but in hearts and minds -- its our Davey. He’s hot property just now and even though he joked -- he’s short -- he sure has the laser focus of Hollywood and not our friend Cook.

Did you guys see the vid of David being interviewed with his presenter -- he spoke VERY articulately and elequently about Eva Cassidy, wanting to learn more about the music business, and having a wish of collaborating with Jordin and Taylor. This is the first I’ve heard him talk about longevity in this industry. In the past he’s said if things dosen’t work out in a year or two- he’d like to consider other options. David is probably just realizing that he’s going nowhere fast for a while.

And the calls to his 866 #…and an older lady called him and said she a big fan, but was very disappointed in his album, that all the songs sound the same. She said she wanted him to have some “old standards”..haha!
And the other day, there was a call from a young woman…I don’t know how to say this exactly..but she was, lets say, breathing heavily, moaning & groaning, saying David, oh David…at first I couldn’t buh-lieve I heard right, but, yup, I did! I thought it was hilarious, then I though it was pathetic, and wondered what David would think if he actually listens to those calls like he says he does. And the Photos of some of his “friends”…yikes! I had always wondered if anyone in David’s “ordit” monitored his MY SPACE page..but now I know they must not…oh well, at least his MY SPACE page is entertaining! hahaha!

jr..the “Cook” the author was referring to is Sam Cook. And yes it would be wonderful for David to sing old standards for his older fans…but to be honest, and please don’t all Sinatra fans throw tomatos at me, I was never a big fan of his..or Damone either..but Bobby Darin and Sam Cook..yes, a big fan.
What the author said about David’s voice is right on…it is an exquisite instrument. If & when David records an album of old standards or golden oldies, he will make them new & better than we can imagine.
