awestruck#352: I felt your post. I'm not really as eloquent as everyone else here, but just wanted to let you know I'm "listening" to you. Keep listening, friend. As David has said, "it's all in the music".

What a beautiful day!! The bonus tracks are unbelievable. WFY -- anyone know what note he hits at 1:30 on "go"?? LMG -- I'm archubopping in my seat. Falling -- I'm pretty much handing over my heart to David right now. Oh, who am I kidding, I did that a long time ago. (SF, hugs to you) SOT — I mentioned the producer, babyface, on another thread. This is so babyface-esque. A tender, acoustic ballad that shows off his higher register. Just beautiful. The only thing that would complete my day is to get the WalMart version. Delivery tomorrow, dangit!

Has anyone been able to read his liner notes without tears welling up in your eyes?

ronaldsf: I knew I liked Cal!!! :] (whispering so my cardinal-blooded bro-in-law doesn't hear me) So did you have any influence on that review? :]

kizzi: Great LA Times article.

SF: Amen to that beautiful prayer.

Beebee and TOfan: Did you hear them play our fave song on the Today Hhow before his intro??

BTW, y'all...David has a new MySpace layout (finally!).

ronaldsf, it is great to see you here! You asked me to check out this website a long time ago, and I'm so happy I did! Anyway, I loved the story behind "Falling." I think a few of us (myself included) tend to see David as having a charmed life since he is so supremely talented and has achieved so much success at an early age. But as is so often the case, we often do not see the pain of others that lies beneath the surface. David has had to deal with his share of life's tragedies, including the one you relayed in this account. David, being a sensitive and gifted individual, turned to creating beautiful music in order to come to terms with his suffering and the suffering of a tortured soul. I have not heard "Falling" yet, but if it is as good as everyone on this blog says it is, I'm sure it will bring me to gushing tears as has been the case with so many of his songs. Thank you for giving us another glimpse into David's heart. He is a gift to hold dear!

#350 Abrra

It is Nov. 17 issue (pages 119 and 120) of People magazine. I think it will on the stand next Monday or Tuesday. I scanned the pages and posted on http://picasaweb.google.com/quiteblanc as a public album, and hopefully you can see it. I am a DA diehard fan, but I am just a lurker because I don't have much time to submit comments.

Sorry if this is off topic.

First I would like to apologize is I offended anyone with my comment on one of the previous posts, re the whistling into to YEDL. It was not my intention at all.

Now, as I listen, yet again, to the tracks of David’s debut album – the tears streaming down my face – I accept that this young man touches me deep inside on a level that strips me of coherent thought. I just feel. People can talk about the overproduction of the tracks, quirkiness of some of the lyrics ... but I just listen to David’s voice, pay attention to the words, and cry. Desperate is the song that I connect with the most, perhaps because of my continuing battle with depression. I can totally relate to being desperate – all the emotions described in the verses... and THE CHORUS, well. “You want somebody, just anybody To lay their hands on your soul tonight You want a reason to keep believin’ That someday you’re gonna see the light.”

David is the one who “layed his hands on MY soul”. He has inspired me to find a way to find my way, back, day by day and to start to come alive.

If I feel this way listening to these album tracks, what will I do when I hear him in concert? I won’t stop me though.

Anyone have info in when ELLE December issue comes out? I did not see anything on their web site. I looked for People today in Shaws and Jenifer Hudson was on the cover. I read that David is in the one with Pres. Obama. Anyone find either at a book seller?

When I heard the Falling snippet, it became my favorite song. I can hardly wait! Oh and how silly, when I tried to per-order mp3 download
on Amazon........I clicked to much and ordered 4 copies of Crush!
I guess I was determined to get my order in, only to realize it's not possible til 11/11. I wonder how many sales they have from people like me?

Welcome, carollann! I love the Elle photos, too, and went to B&N yesterday to get my copy of the mag. Wasn't out yet, dang it.

I've heard the argument that a musician needs to play an instrument and write in order to be considered an artist. I think David is capable and will grow in this regard, but I also think about the tons of songwriters out there who don't have good singing voices. What's to become of them? (If I were one, I'd want David Archuleta to be singing my song. Just sayin'.)

I wonder if the argument is made to artists beginning a career - it must be so hard to break in. I believe that Taylor Swift was told the same thing, and since her strength is in her songwriting, she must be glad she got that advice!

VipMedia Music Blog Recommends Archuleta:

Beautiful lyrics, melody and the powerful chorus just screams to became a hit. Hopefully this will be his single release at some point. The best piece from the solid first album from David. "Desperate" became our favourite after the first listening of the album.
