I've been watching, listening and reading since David's auditions for AI. Yes, I have ODD, but I don't express it very often. That's my own hangup. Guys my age do ODD in silence. :)

David's accomplishment is thrilling to me, and I am so proud of him. But I have to say that I consider most of the material on the album rather weak. Most of these songs, in my opinion, will not stand the test of time. All these melodic fragments make me yearn for that Archuleta highway with its line, contour, shape...

I think David will ultimately leave this kind of stuff behind out of sheer boredom. I can enjoy this album because of what he adds to the music, but I wouldn't go out of my way to hear anybody else do these songs.

I haven't listened enough yet. Maybe I need more time with the songs. Time spent with David's singing is good for the soul--no matter what he's singing.

The music industry is so annoying...

I haven't seen a ton of comments about this so if someone else knows where there are threads about this please let me know .... is anyone else in pain watching David trying to perform Crush live? The first time I saw it on the Ford Day I thought that maybe it was just because it was the first time .... David is such a HUGE talent .... the song was a half decent first choice to pull in some new listeners. BBUUUUTTTT ... it isn't in his optimal register .... it isn't why we all love him. It isn't even a great "band" song given how overproduced it was in the studio. Put him in front of the cameras with a piano/keyboard or guitar and have him sing You Can/Somebody Out There/Falling/To Be With You and OMGosh!!! THOSE songs are why I will be buying a ticket to just about anywhere he goes on tour. (Not to mention Imagine/Angels/Crazy/etc. etc.) He even looks like he's in pain when he's singing Crush ... he has to hear how bad it sounds. I've even noticed him stamping his foot ... kind of to the beat but appears to be more frustration ... he knows it sounds bad but doesn't know how to fix it. He is a perfectionist and he can't be happy with getting dragged through these performances and feeling like that is his one shot to reach someone who is watching these shows that may not have heard him before. Truly ... if this was my only exposure to him I'd think the whole "hoopla" surrounding him was crazy. Does ANYONE have the ear of these record people that are dragging him down this path? Stop them ... please. Let David be David .... the beautiful amazing soulful spirit that he is.

Hi everyone, I know I don't post here very often, mostly due to a lack of time. I enjoy reading everyone's comments when I can. I'm one of those David fans that have been there from the beginning, as most of us here have, and I have tried very hard to be ojbective while having ODD - no easy task! I have agreed and disagreed with Rascal on various points, but I always find that a healthy discussion about a topic can be fun, educational, and fulfilling.

Rascal, I understand some of your points in this thread, and I believe that your heart is in the right place when it comes to David - you want him to be successful and you recognize his awesome talent. I just must tell you that seeing the picture at the top of this thread, on the day of his album release, really sickens me. Perhaps I have a poor sense of humor. I get what you are trying to say here, I really do, but I could do without that image of my sweet David being ground into money. It screams negativity to me, it just does. Even though I get it, I just don't like it. I suppose you'll tell me to not visit here if I don't like what I see, and that's fine if you feel that way. It's your website, so you get to decide what to post, and we all do not have to like it. I just wonder what David would think if he saw that picture. I think he is proud of his CD and happy about where he is right now. I know I am.

According to many articles all idol fans buy multiple copies of the debut cd's.

Here is an excerpt from Idol Live predicting Cook will sell more than our David:
So after considering all of the above and the history surrounding album releases by Idol alums in the holiday season, look for big numbers for both. IDOL LIVE predicts David Archuleta will pull in 221k copies in its first week, landing at #2 on the Billboard 200, while David Cook will net 236k copies for a #3 debut on the Billboard 200.

That's enough for me to go out and buy another copy. Holiday gifts.

TOfan#94: I thought this was the best he sounded with his band yet. Just heard people talking about the impact of "morning voice." Thanks for the information. Wish I could sing!

On "Regis and Kelly," David's smile and singing were great, as usual. What stood out to me though was that (during the song) his eyes seemed so tired.
