Archie Art: Poster Division
I know from seeing some recent photos of Silverfox that David’s fans are gorgeous; now comes another example of how talented we are. This find reminds me a little of the “Moonstruck” poster — very cinematic. Not sure who “Steven” is, but thanks for the awesome work.

I have to write my reflections piece-meal… I can’t process all of it at once into one or two long posts.
Specifics to last night:
First off- as I posted last night the component that struck me most about his performance was his intensity. I thought of moving out of the crowd but decided I would endure it in exchange for being able to watch him sing so close to me. I reasoned I will see him perform many more times in my life, but probably never singing so close to me, really no more than 10-20 feet, sometimes closer. When he came out he was pumped. As reported, Gavin was delightful and soulful and sexy and smooth and set up a great vibe and rapport with the audience. He teased David and the crowd about all the Archuleta-love-in-the-house. He kept randomly saying “oh David Archuleta” in a soft teasing way and the crowd would go nuts. It was very obvious that the majority of crowd was there to see David, and David must have been aware of that component of this jingle jam as opposed to others. He really was the headliner and he must have known it. So he brought it when he came on stage. The smile is killer……thud…dead…no hope of resistance….just killer….dead. Just as killer, for me, was the intensity of his emotion….tiny stage, small dumpy bar and David is giving it all away. The Archubop needs to be renamed, because for me that was the highlight of his stage presence. In the split second that he looks down and away and grooves with the song…. that’s the David-the-artist-performer that must be cultivated….

I think that problem was the height of the stage. When I have been in other dumpy-bars-with-stages (most notably the The Stone Pony) the stage is slightly higher. That cuts down on the need for the audience to push forward to approach the performer (a natural tendancy). Not ne

I am one who has never been bothered by the singing-with-eyes-closed complaint, but that is now only true of taped performances. In a David Archuleta live performance the audience is sucked, pulled, transformed, and controlled by his other-worldly eye contact. It sounds really melodramatic and over the top, but it is true. His eyes laser in on you, and 1000 only-yous at once. I don’t know how it can be done, but when he looks in your direction you swear he made eye contact and the intensity of that contact grabs you and pulls you and etches itself in your mind. Somehow he does it to everyone… not once, but over and over. Perhaps that explains some of the pushing- it was really a pulling….

the eyes…. a person possessing such a powerful communication tool must use it properly and to his performance advantage, and he is well on his way to perfecting this skill … another element of David-the-artist-performer that must continue to be cultivated….

Your making me cry -- beautiful. When you meet David he gives the gift of his full attention and it is the best gift one can receive from another person. When he sings, that magnifies exponentially -- yes, yes, yes

highlighting the voice-
I loved the experience and I am aware that is was a dumpy bar and there are limitations. But, I am commenting on the performance elements and to cover The Voice with the instrumentation of the band is akin to putting a veil in front of the canvas of the Mona Lisa while leaving the frame exposed. No other way to say it.
We came, and will continue to come, to hear the voice. Please get that. We do not want to hear the band. David wants to hear the band and we want him to hear it because he grooves to it and that in turn reveals the hunkerdowns and the look-aways, but in truth we would be perfectly happy if he sang every song a cappella. We want to hear the nuances and the subtletites… they are essential components of his voice.
element number three … sound balance is very important
LOL, I’m lovin’ the happy list of requirements — I have a feeling that before too long, notingDaviders are going to become known as the Connoisseurs of the Voice, the ones who will demand the temperature-controlled room, the superior acoustics, the audience well-instructed on proper Archuetiquette (quiet during the music, then louder than an avalanche), four-star service to David meeting his every whim, and professional media capture of every moment.
I mean, come on, that’s just the basics for proper appreciation of the Voice.
I am just loving all the sharing … and loving…and sharing. EEP!
Reading everyone’s comments these past few days, it really warms my heart to know the heart and life connections David has created. Knowing how many of you/us have met and forged real, lasting friendships because of one 17 year old young man just gets me all twitterpated.

that is what struck me most about last night performance,
the INTENSITY and the connection with the crowd…it was undeniable…David simply ROCKED THE HOUSE !! He owned that stage and he knew it! you could just feel his emotion and it made my heart swell…I feel that DAVID himself had a BLAST last night…you could just tell. .and that makes me happier for him than my own joy in seeing him again.This was David’s night and it was an honor to be part of it…I picture him going to sleep last night with a huge grin on his face thinking ~~now THAT was AWESOME!…..aahh to be David Archuleta right now..how truly sweet it is….Good for you David!! ..Good for you!!
Just to be clear, I don’t think this type of rocker bar is the type of venue for David..CLEARLY NOT..but it was the closeness to the crowd the seem to make it special and that connection showed in his performance…the ArchuBounce -n-Stomp..the hunkering down,the Mariah hand,the megawatt smile all were on FIRE in Albany last night!!..JMHO..

Loving these lists of requirements for a David performance, Happy and Rascal.
My main issue with Northern Lights was the sound. Apart from that, this is actually great experience for David, actually. These kinds of grungy venues are the kinds of places struggling bands and singers have had to climb their way up from. If David’s beginning stage is the manufactured environment of the TV competition (Star Search or American Idol), then there’s nothing wrong with this “new artist” getting a taste of what it means to play to a jam-packed bar lounge (and headline it no less) and cater to such an audience.
Just think: two days from his Northern Lights performance, he’s going to be performing in the humungous Madison Square Garden. Imagine what a learning experience this is for David to play for a small-town suburban crowd and then adjust to a big city crowd. Imagine how he’s learning how to adapt to his musical environments. I’m sure he’s cherishing every moment. I can imagine him saying, “Toto (or is it Conditioner?), I don’t think I’m in Utah anymore.”
He’s having a blast, we’re all having a blast, and David will be the richer for it.

I just wanted to comment a bit on WFM. I have loved this song from the get-go , but thanks to recent views and particularly stellar audio from HG’s vid -- this song as a live performance piece sure is A THING OF BEAUTY!
Every time David performs it, it becomes more soulful and funkier. As hard as he may try with the others, they just don’t lend themselves to as much vocal freedom. David lets loose vocal runs on the fly in WFM. By the time you can say aahh for one he has moved on to another. There are too many new ones in HG’s vid from the last performance to count. I can’t wait to see how it goes tonight.
Maybe this has been posted already -- but does everybody know about the live feed from the Boston Jingle? David’s on in a few minutes, I do believe.
Since everyone has commented on the audio in my vids, just so you know: I was only a few feet away from the speakers. Perhaps that made all the difference.

Looks like David is traveling with similar artists at different events (Katy Perry, Gavin McGraw).
Has anyone kept up with all the line-ups? David’s schedule, while providing him with great opportunities and experience, seems pretty insane.
Youthful energy and strong work ethic aside, I hope David knows when to just say no. If he’s booked for more events than other artists, I’d be concerned. (And no, this isn’t a simple case of building up your fanbase as a new artist.) However, if his schedule is on par with everyone else’s, then I guess this is just part of show biz (and he’s adjusting pretty quickly).
But take these past few days. As much as I will cherish last night in my memory as my very first David Archueta concert, honestly, it so wasn’t necessary. Buffalo is only four hours away from Albany, and Boston takes less time. New York City is 2 1/2 hours away. That’s four cities in one week, where the audience can easily get from one town to the next. I’m sure there’s mega bucks to be made per event, but really, since we know David isn’t in it for the $$, why couldn’t he reduce his participation to just two events (says me, now that I’ve gotten my fill)?
I’m just wondering if he’s overbooked is all. There’s wanting to be accessible and then making sure you don’t overextend yourself. (Not to mention I still worry about that one beautiful vocal chord of his.)

David is energetic and his vocals are great..sorry to say the crowd around the stage is not as energetic as the crowds of the previous jingles, IMO. Looks like they came to see one of the other acts..dummies! haha! The screams are coming from farther away from the stage..Anyone else getting that same vibe, or am I wrong?

Happy, part of the reason my visuals were complete crap (so glad you all appreciate the audio at least) is precisely because I wanted to savor the live moments when David was a few feet away.
That part of WFM, where the cam is all kinds of shaky, I believe that was when I was enthralled when he made his way on our side (I also think that’s when I blew my kiss -- ha ha!). I couldn’t be bothered with how the camera caught him when I wanted my eyes to implant him in my memory.

Sang TMH, WFM (this is so his song, he really connected to it), ALTNOY, 1000 Miles (beautific smile at the end, lots of audience appreciation for this one) and Crush. At one point he said that there were a lot of great acts tonight and he felt honored to be there.
Too many acts..too many barriers! heehee! David did great..It just wasn’t HIS audience in front of the stage tonight..happens sometimes I guess..

joymus #41 -- Yes, I totally agree about WFM. I just got around to watching HG’s excellent video and he totally rocks on this song, especially that performance. For me too, it’s one of my two faves (plus SOT) and it just gets better and better in performance. I have to believe that since he co-wrote it, that he just feels more at home with this song, that it really fits his voice and he feels free to just go for it.

happy/59~ I could not agree with you more….the screaming and sea of cellphone/camera obstructions..this is one of the reasons I gave up my spot in the PIT..I only stepped back maybe 20 feet but it was well worth it…I have to admit it took A LOT to step BACK from David but I knew it was going to get cra-zeh! once he came out..That and “shorty was getting squished a bit too much and all he could see was the back of the girl in front of him..and this was during the scary head-flitting-lead -singer- girl first act…..he kept begging and I kept looking backwards and thinking WHAT? are you crazy kid?? Step BACK from David ?? Huh??…But what if we can’t see??..Step BACK from DAVID..Huh??…Oh my the dilema!!..but then my better sense won out and I took care of “shorty”..and guess what ??..he was right….the sound was better ,you could clearly see David better and you were a bit removed from the shrill of the screams and yes when David came out ..oh my.. those camera and cell phones .holy heck !!.It was a wise choice..for us anyways since he was crushed during a previous AI tour post show signing(not fun for him.)…during that incident by he way,David made eye contact with me and Shorty and you could see the concern on his face..so I was not surprised at all last night when he asked the crowd to be aware of the small kids.I even expected it…anyways….he is now going to help me post some videos……just a warning first….the shaking in the beginning of You Can is due to the fact that my heart was about to explode out of my chest…not kidding !!..it did settle down though…and I got my closeups ..gahh…

i was in albany last night and am still recovering. it was my first time seeing David sing live. well, as you can imagine, the Christmas song nearly killed me! the david fans around me noticed and 2 even asked if i was alright while david was singing. umm, no actually, i’m not alright as i’m having an out of body experience, lol.
TCS was really the greatest performance i have ever seen. the soulful quality and tenderness were almost too much (just too much).
yes, the mosh pit was a nightmare and the recording devices were annoying, but only when the 1st 2 acts were on. once david was on, i forgot all of those outside factors and just saw & heard David. in fact, i have to admit…i may have done a lot of screaming myself!
i am so happy that i got to be a part of that experience -- David as the headliner, chanting his name until he came out for an encore. it was really just a wonderful night. HG thanks for your vids -- you came closest to capturing the sound of TCS as best as can be done without hearing him live. as i was in too much of a trance to even take a picture, your video has eased me thru this day of David-withdrawal.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to let everyone know about how the first radio show went! The first Jingle Ball was in Sacramento, and it was AMAAZZIINNGGG!!! I couldn’t believe how exciting it was! The other acts that were there were Jesse McCartney, Katy Perry, Boys Like Girls, and Shontelle. It was neat to have Shontelle there because I became friends with her at the Macy’s Parade haha. Go familiar faces! But I seriously had the time of my life. I was so nervous before the show, wondering what I was going to say on stage and how I was going to perform. It kind of just came out though, and the energy of the band and crowd was just such a great feeling. It was cool to see all the signs you guys made too! It made me feel more comfortable to see some of you guys out there cheering on, so thanks everyone for coming out! Hopefully you guys will get to go to a show if haven’t gone yet. If any of you are going to come to upcoming shows let me know.
Another really exciting thing that happened this week was filming the music video for A Little Too Not Over You. This video was so much fun! It took a lot longer, but I really had a great time. The director was really creative and fun to work with, and the people who were in the video were hilarious! They’re working on editing it and getting everything together now, but I can’t wait to see the finished product.
Other thing that happened this week: I lost my phone 2 days ago lol. That wasn’t nearly as fun and exciting as the other things, but oh well I guess. I’m pretty sure I left it on the plane, but they wouldn’t let me back on the airplane because the next destination it was going was an international flight to Vancouver. I guess you can’t go on the plane if it’s international because of security reasons or something. I couldn’t do anything about it either because we had to catch another flight going to Orlando, so I went to Orlando as my phone went to Vancouver. I’m actually kinda envious that my phone got to go to Vancouver before I did. I wish I went too lol. But I was really happy about going to Florida. I had a few things to do there like record a bunch of lines, and I got to go to Disneyworld! That totally cheered up my mood. We went to all of the parks and I was a happy camper. My aunt, uncle, and cousins who live in that area also came to visit, and I was really glad that I was able to hang out with them. Gotta love family. The sad thing is that I usually take pictures using my phone, so I didn’t have a camera until I went on the safari in Animal Kingdom. My camera died right after that anyway. I’ll try to put some pictures up though. We had the coolest tour guide helping us out too. He was really friendly and helpful. Oh David Cook was there too by the way. We ran into each other in front of Pirates of the Caribbean haha. It’s always fun bumping into him. Sorry I’m saying all of these events totally out of order but I can’t remember the exact… like… timeline haha. But anyway, I could go on forever about Disneyworld in a disorganized manner but then this would be 3 times longer and make even less sense than it already does.
I’ll just mention one more thing before I go, I performed at the Hollywood and Highland Christmas Tree Lighting in California the other night. After that I dropped by the KIIS FM Jingle Ball. So for those of you who went, I hope you had fun!

Silverfoxe, I visit MJs on occasion, and it tends to skew toward Cook because during the season MJ supported Cook. But since then, things are better overall. The particular poster who spewed the nonsense about David’s stage presence is incredibly negative about everyone, I believe, except Cook. They are probably looking to get people riled up I guess, so it’s best that we don’t take the bait.

hi … everyone… just coming down from archuheaven to say hi and share my joy in seeing David this week … It was so special to experience The voice in such a variety of venues.. The close intimacy ot the chum breakfast felt like watching a beloved child performing in a school event. He is so masterful and yet a little nervous and shy> . to be there to see him accompany himself for the first time on crush made me feel very proud..I was also so pleased with the interview and that he could feel the Canadian love.
Buffalo was breathtaking for me.. he truly has the crowd in the palm of his hand when he sings….. His rendition of OCAYF brought tears to my eyes and is not something I will forget. It amazes me that he can chose a song like this , and sing it acapella with such meaning that everyone reponds..you could hear the crowd softy singing along… so precious. I have such admiration for him in choosing to sing Christmas songs for us. What a gift.!.
Albany was such a blast .. it was for me the total crazy concert experience and once I chose to just go with it and experience it … it was wonderful.The “mosh pit” was partly a scary place for me but once David appeared I was hypnotized and mesmerized… The way this man connects with the song and then connects with individuals in the audience is absolutely astonishing. He looked right at me and I just could not believe the love… I kept thinking … no, he is not sharing that moment with me , but then I realized he is- he really understands that his music can be a blessing to so many , no matter our age or culture or experience,,,The screaming and excitement was all part of this wonderful experience and I feel so over joyed to have been a part of it. He is truly amazing…
The afterparty was just another highlight of an incredible week

Hi All,
The last few days have been quite the whirlwind for me. I’m exhausted and a bit incoherent right now after the Albany gig. There’s nothing more to say about the experience that hasn’t already been stated, (and I must say, much more eloquently than I am capable of), by HG, Happy, Kizzi, etc. Thanks again, Kizzi for hosting that party -- it was such an amazing gesture.
The one thing I do have to add is, the whole David is experience has the most wonderful additional advantage. I cannot say what a privilege it has been to meet the incredible people from the ND community. What a charming, funny, intelligent, warm and welcoming group. All I can say, is I feel very lucky to be a part of it all….and now off to sleep.

awestruck..I’m thinking the best Christmas AND birthday gift for David would be for him to spend the WHOLE time from Dec 20 to after New Year’s Day just chillin’, resting, and just being with his family & friends at home in Utah..cuz I buh-lieve that may be the last time he may have some “normalcy” in his life. ram..OMG..his Spanish CD will skyrocket to platinum in record time..( think Selena ). He may be able to fill the void left by the beautiful Selena, not take her place in the hearts of her devoted fans, but perhaps help ease the pain. THE VOICE is magic and very healing & miraculous.

If you search for his name on google trends, he actually has a nice following in the Phillippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. (And if you isolate your search to December, you’ll see people in Portugal and Mexico are now also searching for news of him.)
OMG..I’m just sooo nervous and excited for David! I hope he’s having a great day..and I hope he was able to sleep!! He must be so hyped! This is a BIG concert! I buh-lieve it’s s/o..some tickets going for up to $2000.00!! The line-up is pretty large..10 acts including David, Kanye West, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Leona Lewis, Katy Perry, Jesse McCartney, Brandy, Lady GaGa, Paramore, and special appearance by Rihanna. David’s the youngest & newest again.

I’m heading up to Salt Lake to spend time with family and friends over the New Year.
Just have this feeling I’ll be trolling the old neighborhood (yup, I used to live very close to the Archuletas) to see if I can catch a glimpse of our boy. Now, mind you, I won’t be doing this on purpose, afterall doesn’t everyone visit all the old neighborhood haunts when they head back to their old home town.
Seriously, I sincerely hope that David gets a chance to sit back and relax. He’s been on the move for the better part of a year and he needs to catch his breath. And if he is home and chillin’ then I won’t feel like I’m missing out when I don’t have a computer within reach 24/7.

Steven’s work is gorgeous, just like “Our David”. SF…I’m with you, on David being able to spend quality, down time with his family. You can tell he sincerely loves to spend time with them. I love how he is teaching all of us to appreciate family. Amazing the sound of his voice and the intensity of his performances. He truly LOVES US! A few people on other sites have asked if the LifeStory mag was legit. Looking at the scans, it looks like David sat down for the main interview for the magazine during or right after one of his recent brief stints home. It’s evident from the timeline of the events he mentions, such as his sister’s age and other recent events.
Sorry to be so behind, guys, but still recovering from a three-day Archuleta hangover that I wouldn’t trade for the world. I’m sure you’ve all seen the vids and read HG’s and Happy’s and others’ great recaps, but bear with me, just need to share my personal highlights (I’ll post separately):
Toronto Chum breakfast: A 17-year-old beside me stood up and boldly told David she was auditioning for Canadian Idol next year. He sweetly encouraged her and wished her luck and she sat back down and told me: “David is my INSPIRATION!… This is something I can tell my grandchildren.” (Wanted to laugh AND cry.) Someone yelled out “Canada loves you, David!” and he said “I love Canada!” and we all melted. His impromptu vocal warmup? Major melt. First time performing Crush at the piano – complete puddle.
I can’t tell you how much it meant to us that David took this inconvenient detour to perform on behalf of a Toronto charity for kids – and to sing at 7:30 a.m.! A Chum promotions manager told us afterwards how surprised they were that he agreed to come and that they changed the date to accommodate his schedule because they were so thrilled to have him.

In my previous post 154 I got the impression that the interviewers wanted to know what kinds of material things David wanted.
Buffalo KissMass Bash:
David rocked that arena on every song, the atmosphere was electric. When they set up the keyboard for ATM and it wasn’t turned on, there was a moment that is burned in my brain — a moment in which the magnitude of his star power was undeniable.
The attention of every one of the thousands of people in that arena (many of whom weren’t even there to see him) was laser focused on David – on anything he said, did or sang. He joked about doing a tap dance while the keyboard was being set up and everyone laughed and cheered right with him, on the edge of their seats — no fidgeting or murmuring — absolute Master and Commander.
ATM was breathtaking and O Come All Ye Faithful a cappella? – what a risk to sing such a traditional carol in that venue and yet everyone SANG ALONG – it was truly magical. Our whole row was in tears – a remarkable experience.
[As a side note, the DJ asked how many Canadians were there and I swear half the place cheered!

Albany: Despite being pressed into an intense mosh pit (actually, not much different from the Toronto subway at rush hour … seriously), the opportunity to stand 8 feet away from David performing on a low stage in such an intimate venue was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Happy, you are so right about the “pull” of his eye contact. I was astounded how he really CONNECTS with you in those moments. I felt that pull. It’s as if there’s an unspoken understanding between you and David and the rest of the world fades away. Then he moves through the crowd forging that connection with as many people as he can and yet continuing to tell the story of the song with that beautiful voice. Again, remarkable.
Being so close, I really got to see how self-assured and masterful he is on stage. It’s his domain, his world, and when he takes that first step into the spotlight, he rules, make no mistake. It’s not that he’s older when he sings – he’s ageless, timeless, utterly unique and yet everyman.
Two more first at this show – first time headlining and first encore – can’t possibly keep up with him at this rate!

Wow! What an unbelievably hot mess it is over in my part of the Northeast (or should I say “cold mess”?).
Overnight, we experienced an ice storm, and my home is still without electricity. Finally, the roads cleared enough for me to brave driving to my office, so now I have an opportunity to go online.

Isn’t it cra-zeh that this time last year, we had no idea that a kid from Utah was going to change our lives in a few short months?!
And look at him now…on a fast-track, well on his way to superstardom (still don’t know how I really feel about that ) and will be the biggest star to emerge from the clutches of AI, especially in terms of popularity. Has a Platinum record, and close to a gold album, AND appearing in Madison Square Gardens not even a year after most of us first saw & heard him?? It boggles the mind..not that it happened, but that it’s happening at lightening speed!
Sometimes I think I need to get off the fast train he’s taken us on just to get a breath..but it’s impossible..he just pulls me back in. It’s cra-zeh! I shake my head in amazement!

Seems Paula had a stalker who committed suicide outside her house! This woman had been obsessed with Paula for a long time and even auditoned for AI in 2006. Paula told the producers NOT to let her audition cuz Paula has previously had to take out a R/O on the woman..But the producers thought it would make for good TV and let her audition..twice! Anyway, now Paula is blaming the AI people for the whole mess. You can find the whole story on-line.

Ok, so all these jingle balls have overwhelmed me with archu_riches and I cannot yet even articulate what seeing David (Sacramento) REALLY was for me. I may never be able to. The Albany performances currently have me in a stranglehold (could be terminal). But just now, in particular, I am utterly DEBILITATED by his Albany Works For Me. Oh my Heavens to Holy Mother of Helena Handbasket!! Lord that child is gonna KILL me. That Albany WFM is LETHAL! I’ve been collecting vids of it like little gemstones. I’m destined, ultimately, to make a remix. I must. I simply must. GUH.
(There are no words that can even begin to describe my adoration for “The Chestnut Song”. Not even gonna try. Nope.)
I think these recent riches are so overwhelming that it could take a year for me to emotionally process. I am just so blown to smithereens. So much David Gold… so little time.
Oh, and Rascal, gosh your gift basket fund is barrelling toward the prize Dean & DeLuca HAM! ($1500!!!) LOL! Whoa Nelly! Wow, that Idol audition is eerie to watch. I found it eerie how the editing kept cutting between the two women, especially as the woman was refuting her elimination after the audition.

Congratulations to Ronaldsf & HG on your nominations. You both have my vote! Also on the Idol Forums, I’ve been voting on their music countdown and currently David has been #1 for 18 consecutive weeks. The closest any other artist has come is Rihanna- “Unfaithful”
for 10 weeks. Woo Hoo! David has 2 more weeks until “Crush” retires. I believe he may be the first artist to claim #1 for the entire run.
Also on the war front- the poll Musiqtone (that’s the one where the Cookies supposedly voted against David by voting for Carrie Underwood. David is easily handling this one with 49% of the votes and there about 100 videos in the list, so this number is impressive.

Just read on the CDC chat with Dean Kaelin that David was supposed to sing My Hands in Albany (aaaaaahhhhhh!) but was nervous cause he was headlining and it was sold out (“although he sounded great,” said Dean).
Refnaf and I could actually see the set list taped to the floor beside his mic stand and My Hands was first but then crossed out. As much as I loooove My Hands, this was ultimately a blessing.
If he had sung that first in Albany, I would surely have passed out, been consumed by the mosh pit and what’s worse, I would have missed the rest of the show….
hahaha… an afterthought about that Holiday Gift Basket — I was just thinking — recently some friends said they had house guests for about three days, among them two seventeen year old boys — WHO “ATE EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!” — lol. (I think about how David is always eating and has even said a coupla times just recently an enthusiastic “I LOVE FOOD!” LOL. Those seventeen year old boys are EATING MACHINES … lol… so the Gift Basket Fund may be merely “adequate” for the Archuleta family …. if David’s actually THERE for a few days.

If he opens for someone else, then it’s not a solo tour..I really think David can sell out small venues,,,1000-3000, maybe even 5000 seats, depending on the location. I mean, gosh, other BIG artists do smaller venues..does he have to share the bill with anyone else?

Ronaldsf #205- Thanks for the link. I was curious to see the woman. This is the main reason I will not be watchiing AI next year. The producers have no respect for the contestants nor audience. Since I am new to American Idol, I have watched a few Idol Rewind shows to catch up on things. I use to think everyone had the opportunity to sing before the judges, I have now found out otherwise. And it is very sad to see some hopefuls humiliated and held up to ridicule for entertainment purposes. Some of these people should have never made it past the producers round and to do so, is nothing short of cruel.

HG & RONALDSF -- awwwwww re IDF’s 1st AAAAA. Well, no brainer who will get my vote!
Re DAVID RECORDING IN SPANISH & WHY HE IS WELL LOVED in the PHILIPPINES -- You see, David in so many ways thinks and acts like a Filipino. To us, it matters a lot that you have character to back up whatever talent you have. His familial devotion, unassuming ways, peaceful aura and expression of Faith make him attractive to a lot here.
His Spanish recordings will also go well here. Spanish is like a 3rd language to most of us here — like I have Spanish as a required subject in my 4 years in college! WHY?
Our educational system for a long time integrated the study of Spanish, as part of a treaty with Spain. In case you don’t know, we were under the Spanish rule for 300 years, then the Americans, next Japan, then the Americans again. I suppose that’s why we can thrive anywhere in the world. On the other hand, that may also explain the on-going Filipino diaspora.
In any case, I can’t wait for his Spanish album. A Puro Dolor would sound delicious coming from him

UPDATE 30: FROM MYHUBBYROCKS FROM SNARKIES
Audio was very poor at MSG. Truly the music was overpowering – drums and base ruled every song and voices were drowned out for all the singers.
David was the only voice that was fairly clear and when he hit his glory note on TMH and people really started to pay attention. He rocked out ALTNOY and then the crowd sang along loudly with ATM to which he was all smiles. He did fantastic with TMH, ALTNOY and then ATM (with a new run that the audience ate up) and finished with Crush. Audience sang along with ATM and went crazy singing Crush. It was Crush that got the older crowd on their feet singing and waving their hands. He finished with a thunder of applause. And then, poof, he was gone. 4 songs, glorious voice, high energy, smiles, connection with audience and then gone. And, yes, he has loads of stage presence; he did his little run at the end of Crush. He did GOOD and belonged at MSG. When he changed up the songs, the audience really took note. It almost as if he transmits that something new is going to happen-very cool.
Ummmm….the contrast of Kanye and then David was so startling. Their vibes are so very different. It is like going from an exploding volcano to a tropical paradise.
Rhianna only came out to give the donation for Stand Up 2 Cancer. Katie Couric was there to do the presentation

Am enjoying all the great concert posts -- tofan 176, 177(loved how you described your concert experiences; made me almost feel like I was there,too); beebee (love your humor & positive energy; makes you jump right out of the computer screen) -- you must be a hoot; I know I’m constantly cracking up reading your posts; sf (such moving & caring comments -- I know David can feel all your love); HG (loved your Albany post; made me want to be 17 again). Amazing. Thanks to everyone for making it seem so real for all who are unable to partake in concert going.
HG, also, would like to discuss your positioning of songs on the album. I followed your ordering & it seemed to make more sense. Thus, I am loving EVERjY song -- esp. Barriers. Am addicted to that one. Does anyone know if that is one of the songs that David is not particulary fond of? He seems to put so much emotion into it.

You know, I have to hand it to Jive & Azoff for securing him a spot with the Jingle Ball series of concerts. Aside from being a good avenue to promote him & his music/album to a wider audience, it is also great to further hone his talent esp on stage. Progressively he is upping his stage presence and even at the MSG, he did look like he was… well, at home.
Am so happy for him that he is able to do what he always dreamed of doing and at barely 18, he is having the time of his life.
Congrats David for conquering MSG!
JR -- Also, don’t forget that with this Jingle Ball tour he’s building some amazing relationships with some major market radio stations. From what I can see and hear, they all seem to be loving him to pieces. Essential.

VH1′s Top Twenty Countdown took place today at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, so it seems only fitting that the #1 video is “Crush”, by one David James Archuleta.
Before playing the video, the host told the Priscella cougar attack story, complete with pictures. Two weeks from now, Vh1 will do the top videos for the full year. I wonder where David will end up on that list? Hope everybody has a fun & safe Saturday. I’m now off to bed. Pax.

That z100 interview is priceless! Especially when the DJ mocks him: “Don’t go! I’m the Crush guy!” LOL!
Oh David, methinks you have profound self-esteem issues! No way is Kanye “way up in the clouds” while you’re “somewhere on the ground.” Of course, to be fair, if I were in David’s shoes, I too would be more than intimidated to be placed smack in the middle between Kanye and Chris Brown.
This lineup definitely speaks to the belief that David has already arrived (and much more worthy than that Massachusetts lineup).
I also love how David gives so much praise to all his musical peers -- I’ve never heard him not talk about how wonderfully awesome he finds their music.
Fandaforever48, I’d love to talk about my David Archuleta Remix (which was putting me to sleep during my power outage last night).
After watching yesterday’s videos of David’s performances I’m so proud and happy. He was an amazing performer, looked beautiful and sounded great. Very good crowd reception, I think. I wonder what Chris Brown thought as he waited for his turn.
Anyway, just wanted to share my feelings. Rascal, I think MSG deserves a special post with photos.
valbraz -- I agree! I havn’t watched the videos yet (don’t want to wake my hubby up as I tend to turn the volume up), but I too am so happy and proud for David. Amazing to be second last at MSG! It would be so cool to know what all the other performers thinks of David.
