Compensations

The short-sighted narrow mindedness of Jive that has resulted in the over-saturation of Archie in almost exclusively teen and tween oriented events and publications diminishes the scope of his appeal and undermines his artistic credibility, but he will rise above it. In the meantime, there are compensations. Here’s one.
Random observation: I’m liking the self-deprecating humor that’s creeping into his (extremely well-written) blogs; there’s also a delightful intimacy about it that acknowledges how well his audience already knows him:
“I don’t think I can explain (not like me being unable to explain something is anything new) how intimidating and nerve wracking it was to be sandwiched between Kanye West and Chris Brown in the lineup…”

Rascal, now this is a gorgeous photo (and certainly not just appealing to teens and tweens, I’d like to think).
As you were constantly fond of telling us here:
TRUST THE ARCHULATOR!
He will outgrow his teen years (and the teen market) and he will survive and thrive. He’s too smart and too talented not to.
My favorite line from his blog?
“HIJOLE!”
G’nite all!
HG -- well put. As we already know, despite Jive’s astigmatic marketing of David, his universal appeal transcends all.
Goodnight, one and all
ROFL! One last Santa letter for the evening.
For Christmas I would like Sim City Creater, my sims, a sims movie. Alexis M.’s address and phone number. I would also like that car at Radioshop and by the way remote control >b>and for when I’m older for Alexis M. to marry me. And can I have a raindeer? Maybe you could get my dad twenty hundred dollars. And my mom a mechanical job and my little sis and bro some new toys. Don’t forget for lots of wrapping paper. I’ve always wanted to ask you did you realy meet my pappa and did he actully catch you?
Josiah L., age 7
haha!
Oooops! that other part was supposed to be bold also
and when I’m older for Alexis M. to marry me.
GOOD LORD RASCAL!!!! Have not logged in since before my scuba trip and have been overcome with elderly parents needs. But THIS PHOTO TOOK MY BREATH AWAY!!! Heavens above! Its too much.. its too much…. Who is this kid who is NOT a kid?
I cannot express my profound obssession with watching in between my life moments, this “child/boy/man” that I started watching almost a year ago morph into a stage phenomenon beyond compare! I am totally captivated and yes, mesmerized by David and his growth as a performer as well as watching him put to life his personality and true beliefs in his interviews.. I find myself watching his stage performances, interviews and blogs, funny moments, (dorkiness personified!) etc over and over. Its beyond obsesssive compulsive behavior. I am confused by my behavior…….help.
HG -- you said in the previous thread: JR, how is this for really opening up on the personal areas?
Woman, the world is your oyster! Nothing is more attractive than an open person. That may be one explanation of David’s magnetism.
FIRST PIX FROM PHILY:

http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk179/iheartarchie/jingleball/IMG_1678-1.jpg
oops! that should be PHILLY.
Now, just when I watch an interview with David at his most youthful, you post a picture like this one -- and I get confused about who he is. Those eyes, my god! LOL!
Precisely right, Rascal! I loved that blog. It was extremely well written indeed. And its nice to kinda play like we really ARE best friends with him, don’tcha think?
What a picture! God born David like this…He can’t help it…Teens, Silvers, Goldens, etc. we’re all a gonner!!! GAH!
smanda -- Yes, he writes with such casual intimacy of his feelings and fears, as though he’s writing to a close buddy. I agree, it IS fun to pretend to be that friend for a bit and be part of his world.
And that picture has something of a 1940s matinée idol, with the knowing eyes and just a hint of a smirk.
Yes RASCAL -- David has been transparent to us about many things such that his writings intimate a certain level of familiarity. A large part of that may be attributed to how he & his family are with fans.
Repeatedly we see how warmly he treats fans and how invested he is in interacting with him. He never acts the idol that he is — just his usual jolly self — which by Hollywood standard is what makes him remarkable.
My goodness, during the Z100 All Access M&G, he even remembered Nikki of NYC Angels and noticed her getting a new color for her hair!
Now, how amazing is that? Can you think of any artist who can be that into his fans?! This connection that he forges with his fans will be key in making his career last. Very soon David will outgrow his tween-cutie-pie years and his fans will grow with him.
And it is reassuring to hear of his long-term intentions from an interview with Z103.5 in Canada last week . He cannot imagine a life w/o music. He may do other stuff (e.g. acting) but still continue doing music, somehow. He doesn’t know how long it (fame) will last….but that the fame may end but he doesn’t see music -- singing, performing -- ending, ever. More gah years for us fans!
There is no way around it. ODD is here to stay. Even after David or most of us are gone, THE VOICE and the man-child behind it will move us continuously, foolishly and endlessly.
And we’ve only just begun…
Hi everyone! Long time lurker who is so grateful to get my daily fix of all things David here in Rascal’s loving house. I’ve been reluctant to post because between my job, kids, hubby, house and my ODD, the extra time to regularly compose thoughts on this site would probably cause me to flip off the tightrope on which I am teetering.
So I’ll get right to the point. I haven’t even read Rascal’s new comments tonight…because I just got home from the Jingle Ball in Camden! And I am OVER THE MOON to tell you how AWESOME our guy was!!! I splurged on center 5th row seats and boy was it ever worth it. My cover was my 17 yr. old daughter, who used to make fun of me but now is most assuredly a fan (along with my husband, who I hear from time to time whistling the tunes from the CD. Gotta love the converts!)
Anyway, David sang 7 songs tonight!! How did I get so lucky?! And he rocked out every one of them, struttin and stompin across the stage, every note spot on, reaching out to touch the fans (well, almost touching…he could go flying off the stage from the grasp of an over zealous one), making eye contact (HG, I was thinking about blowing a kiss like you did, but for one now in her fabulous 50′s, I just kinda felt weird), and looking very much in command, like he’s been playing these arenas for years. The VOICE is stellar! I just marvel at how accomplished he is at such a young age.
The songs were:
Touch My Hand
Works For Me
You Can
ALTNOY
A Thousand Miles
Crush
Have Yourself a Merry Little Xmas
All were terrific, although I was a bit overwhelmed with those dang monster speakers on the big numbers. Silverfox, if you see Jeff before your upcoming concert (I have faith in your hunting him down), would you please tell him to get the production crew to take it down a few decibels. Geez.
I really appreciated the ability to clearly hear his stellar vocals on the slower songs, and, of course, singing the Xmas song a cappella was just gorgeous (by the way, I’m Jewish but I think when David comes out with his holiday CD I just may have to convert).
DA looked so cool in his fitted jeans, untucked white shirt with rolled up sleeves, charcoal vest and that familiar scarf, which seems to have become his trademark winter fashion accessory.
Let me also say that the crowd went ABSOLUTELY NUTS over him!! I think he was the 5th act of 9 or 10, and the only one who may have gotten a bigger ovation at the end of his set was Jesse McCartney. By the way, I didn’t know much about him before, but I was VERY impressed with his set. Phenomenal dancer! I remember the recent discussions about who would be good to tour with, and I do like the idea of these too. Although David is not the stage performer that Jesse is, I don’t think he has to be. The crowd clearly is crazy for them both and embraces David’s style without question.
Of course, it goes without saying that I will eagerly await the time when David is ready to go solo!! Just hope we don’t have to wait too long. At my age, I have certainly learned the virtues of patience. However, I find all my good training goes kaput when it comes to any opportunity to see and hear and revel in this magnificent young man — his humility, his humanity, his beautiful face and soul, and, of course…his VOICE!
Yikes, just as I suspected. It’s almost 1 a.m. and I should have called it quits an hour ago. Hope I wasn’t too rambly -- so many of you knock my socks off with your brilliant, astute, thought-provoking and often hysterical musings.
It sure is a wonderful place to share our love of Mr. David James Archuleta. Can’t thank you enough, dear Rascal, and all you great posters!
I know this is lame, but I just need to say it as I am all ridiculously giddy inside — in that photo shoot, David and I have the same Chucks!
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahah, on my…. carry on….
I didn’t realize you all moved on…Posting again from previous thread:
Hi All -- I’m a little under the weather, (I think it’s the flu), haven’t had too much time to post -- just lurk. The dialogue here just keeps my mind aware and growing.
I have to say, Realmusiclover, your post is amazing and summed up so much of what I see in David, not the Messiah, but just a glimmer of hope and positive influence on our current generation. Please stay around and continue to comment, I love hearing what you have to say!
Dear ZOE -- thank you for de-lurking and sharing your experience. You guys are so lucky to witness his ascending star SIGH!
Am happy that you & your family had a blast. Am sooooo proud of him.

Zoe -- your post cracked me up. I am also Jewish and have probably listened to O Holy Night about 20 times a day since he sang it at the Tree Lighting. I’ve always really liked Christmas music, however, David has brought it up to a whole new level for me!!

“Hang a shining star upon the highest bough”
Ohmigosh, chills!!!!
“Happy golden days…”
Ahh, simply beautiful. I would’ve preferred that last high note as a single note, but besides that it was exquisite. First a subtle touch here and there, and then an outpouring of soul.
Ah yes, I can sleep now…
ronald what did you think?
sorry, we posted at the same time.
Ahhhh……HVAMLC…unbelievable. Buy why oh why do we have to have the constant screaming through these classic songs! I just don’t understand it!! These are not rock and roll songs that are O.K. to yell through -- this is a beautifully written once-in-a-lifetime Christmas song that is being sung by, David Archuleta, the best male pop singer of the last and present generation. It should be against the law to scream through this song!! Ahhhhhh!!!
#24 davidfanliz -- I CONCUR!!
Bravo David.
ninaf -- I agree, there should be a law! I volunteer to hand out citations to those who are cluless!
Ninaf LOL, yeah I agree. Actually I was okay with (some of) the other Christmas songs being cheered through, but this one is an exception. COMPLETE SILENCE for HYAMLC, please.
YAHOO ANNOUNCES ALTNOY TO PREMIERE 12/16 (TUES)
http://new.music.yahoo.com/videos/premieres/
Regardless, of the clueless screamers, I need an MP3 of this song -- if anyone knows how to get a hold of this let me know. I’m technologically challenged..LOL
NINAF on #29 -- Cos David himself asked the fans to scream for the performers as the screams pump up their performance HAHA!
Besides, do you honetly believe they can help it?
I’m tearing up here. This has GOT to be on his Christmas album!
Also, I don’t know why but some versions have the line “Until then we’ll have to muddle through somehow…” If I hear David sing that line I’ll be bawling
Rascal -- there is no pretense with David. This is, to me, why he is so comfortable in his own skin. He doesn’t ever have to worry about anything he says or does because it is always the open, honest to God’s truth.
In regards to his “delightful intimacy” in his blogs, yes, it does speak to how well his audience knows him. It ALSO speaks to the fact that perhaps he considers that his fans are more like friends that just fans. How else might you explain that when he recognized a fan from a previous meet and great and proceeded to comment on the fact that they had dyed their hair. (Sorry, it is late and I can’t remember where I read this).
debra5354 #5 Read the comments on the previous post if you have time re garding your ODD and your comment “Its beyond obsesssive compulsive behavior. I am confused by my behavior…….help.”
I just heard Patsy Cline singing “Sweet Dreams”. It occurred to me that I haven’t youtubed many artists since David showed up.
I believe they have a similar cry in their voices.
You’re right, jackryan4DA, they can’t help it (I mean, we talk about dying here all the time and needing paddles… for youngins with stronger hearts screaming uncontrollably is just one step away hehe). Still, I’d rather that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t prefer them not to.
I keep listening to this!
Here’s the mp3. Thanks to sam1346 of IDF:

JR -- I know the screaming pumps up the enthusiasm. It’s sort of a catch-22 -- the audience screaming intensifies his performance, that’s why the studio performances can never top the live ones. However, it makes it more difficult to hear and enjoy. Too bad technology can’t come up with a way to weed out the background noise, while keeping the performance intact!
Boo incomprehensible sentence above!
Sorry guys!
Betsy, It’s so terrific to watch Adam grow. He is surely adorable. There’s something in David’s voice for this Christmas song. Way powerful. Maybe it’s confidence, I dunno…But, I LIKE IT!

ninaf -- Snarkies is putting the MP3s on their site. I’m slowly collecting my Christmas album. Okay guys, what will he sing next time to add to the collection?????
Thanks Ronald for the link to the mp3!
I have to say goodnite -- I am on the East Coast and it is 2:13AM. My husband is screaming for me to come to bed. Boy this ODD is really interfering with my personal relationships!!

jr -- how do you do it? Actually I remember now, you told us once! But you have all the newest, fastest David info.
I love that you live so far away and here I am just a short distance from these jingle balls, and yet…..you know everything first!
You are the best!
I have seen more clips, photos, vids on your recomendations than most.
Thanks
I hope you all don’t mind that I bring my comment from the end of the previous post to this one.
I am late late late to this party
Smanda #323 “I’m old. I guess don’t question things like this anymore. I know its a gift. I just rejoice that I have somehow been allowed to be one of the people on this ethereal ride.” Oh YES to this and the rest of your post. If I might add one thing to your list of things you are more of: I am calmer within myself, more at rest, at peace. David has renewed my love of music and enriched my life beyond belief. I am so thankful that I have this warm, inviting place where I can share my feelings re David with others who feel the same.
realmusiclover #370 your comment spoke to me
HG #373 I know when I open up I feel almost liberated. Keep that bar high, you are worth it!
Iamblisskasden #378 I think David threatens on more than one level -- from redefining masculinity? to adjusting today’s morality/spirituality code… Most people think seeing is believing, yet with David they are frightened because they are afraid to believe what they are seeing, that anyone can be ‘that good’, ‘that committed to thinking of others first’, that humble’ etc. Most people cannot accept that believing is seeing (which is how I have come to relate to David) -- it takes a leap of faith to accept the unexplainable.
“Let’s not make anything about him taboo. It’s not about his personal life. It’s about the effect he is having on everyone else’s personal life.” I will think on this. RASCAL what do you think?
Iamblisskasden #380 “He’s just 17, but he is the teacher and I am the student.” I feel the same way.
To all lurkers who have made themselves heard -- welcome. I have enjoyed your comments.
To all other “regulars” thanks. What a thought provoking group.
I would like David to sing Ave Maria (Schubert) but it’s probably too “classical” for these Jingle Thingies.
Maybe “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”??
Oh whoops -- my comment was in response to davidfanLIZ #46
On “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”, that is another one of my favorite Christmas songs. Also, it’s about family and coming home… am I wrong or doesn’t he go home soon? This would be a nice, fitting way to end his “Jingle Ball” tour!
ronaldsf -- I would love Mary Did You Know?, but that of course wouldn’t work for these venues. Maybe another traditional carol like Joy to the World.
IBHFC -- yes, there is a good one!
Oh BETSY -- just my way of paying forward. I can only imagine the sacrifice those shooting/recording the vids are committing to. They are unable to relish David’s live performance so the wider fan base can get a glimpse of the shows.
I am in awe of StarryNight’s patience and self-control to keep the lens on the our boy -- I cannot do that! W/o them, where would we international fans be?
But yeah, ny shortcut is to keep my search engine email me the latest on whichever I want alerted. Saves me a lot of time. HOWEVER -- even google or yahoo have qa hard time keeping up with David! LOL
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, OMG!

I want to hear him sing Joyful, Joyful or Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home) -- he will bring the house down with any of these 2 numbers!
Good evening fellow ODD’ers!
I want to tell all of you I really enjoy, agree with and applaud each of your eloquent entries. ND is my favorite site. The Snarkys are next. But this is the place for serious discussion of David.
My husband and daughter have both approached me and as gently as they could, tried to put the butterfly net over my head. But, I was just too quick for them. No, no. They just don’t understand. I’m hoping they will go to the next appearance or concert with me and will be converts. Thanks for listening. Keep up the excellent comments!

Yes please to silencing the screams while he is singing! But the positive side of it is that I hope he is proving to the powers that be that it doesn’t matter whether he is singing a pop song, a ballad or a classic Christmas song, we all, young and old, cannot get enough of that VOICE. Just let him make the choices! And by the way, I think it is very clever of him to be previewing his Christmas album this far in advance. The masses will be chomping at the bit to buy it by the time it becomes available.

Well am running solo here cos of course all of you are sleeping. Can’t wait to see the music video of ALTNOY
I know that Dean said he finds My Hands to be the most difficult for David to sing in the album. But for some strange reason, whenever I sing both, I find ALTNOY more challenging. I dunno why… hmmmmnn
AIFan7979 shares her/his experience at the concert:
I was at the Z100 Jingle Ball concert. I haven’t read through the thread because I’m too lazy, so I don’t know what’s been said, but here are my thoughts.
I am a pretty big fan of a lot of the people who were there (for various reasons), but David stole the show vocally -- even more than I was expecting. The sound wasn’t all that great, so by the time it got around to David, I wasn’t expecting him to sound much better than the others -- but I was wrong. There was a marked difference between his vocals and everyone else there. Sound system aside, I obviously expected that with some of the performers, but I was surprised that he sounded so much better than even Leona Lewis. She is a great singer, but her voice didn’t carry that well. But David’s voice filled the arena and he sounded amazing.
The part that I enjoyed seeing was how comfortable he was onstage. Huge difference between his Z100 Jingle Ball appearance and when I saw him on tour. I didn’t really sense any awkwardness at all. He was confident and looked super happy to be there. It was cool to see. He is getting a lot better onstage (vocals aside -- that’s always been there) as time goes on. I have noticed huge improvements every time I’ve seen him (beginning of Idol tour, end of tour, and Jingle Ball).
My friend who I went with saw him on the tour too and she thought he was a million times better (performance-wise) than during the Idol tour. She thought he looked and sounded like a star and actually likes him a lot more after seeing him at the JB concert. The crowd was very receptive. He got a ton of applause and screams, but definitely didn’t get the loudest or the most. There were obviously bigger stars there, but it also had a lot to do with the fact that the audience reacted most of all to the songs that they knew and could sing along to.
Obviously, the only one of David’s songs that people really knew was Crush. And people kind of sang along to ATM as well, but that’s slower and not the type of song that gets the crowd completely enthused (but it was hands down the vocal highlight of the night). Just give him a few more years and a few more hit songs that people know, and he will steal the crowd and the show.
It is honestly scary to think of how good he really is going to be in just another year or two.”
Can’t wait to hear what the other NDers have to say tomorrow!
Finally, YOU CAN

I dunno if this has bgeen posted -- a review of the BOSTON JB:
Jingle Ball is a packed party
LOWELL -- A concert sponsored by a radio station is the perfect snapshot of who’s hot right now. Sets usually last 20 minutes, giving performers the spotlight long enough to peddle the song that got them on the bill in the first place. For some of them, 20 minutes is just right.
Oddly enough, there’s little regard for who plays these shows; often the artists have absolutely nothing in common except a radio hit. Only at KISS 108′s Jingle Ball Thursday night at Tsongas Arena could you watch tween sensation David Archuleta flash his open-mouthed smile one minute and then witness emo rockers Hinder take the stage and announce, “This one’s called ‘Get Stoned.’ ”
If the performers shared anything, it was the power to get the sold-out audience to scream like the Jonas Brothers were in the house.
Early on, Lady GaGa, who’s fond of saying she makes “pop art” (yawn), did her best to work up the audience, but aside from her hit “Just Dance,” she went right over the heads of most of the squealing teen audience.
Archuleta, the baby-faced runner-up on the most recent season of “American Idol,” was his usual earnest self. He seemed genuinely surprised by the reception he got, at one point proclaiming, “You guys are one great crowd.” Along with songs from his new album, he played a charming cover of Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles,” with Archuleta manning the keyboard.
Even though they went mostly acoustic, rockers Hinder were still loud and brash, courtesy of lead singer Austin Winkler’s shredding vocals. Especially after Archuleta’s milk-and-cookies set, the band seemed totally out of synch on the roster, especially on the call-and-response portion of “Get Stoned,” which parents must have loved.
Katy Perry, who, you might have heard, kissed a girl (and she liked it!), was one of the evening’s pleasant surprises. Dressed in a Santa-inspired get-up, Perry exuded a refreshing charm that’s largely missing on her slick debut. And it was nice to see she had a good sense of humor. Prefacing her ubiquitous hit, “I Kissed a Girl,” she quipped, “It’s been overplayed, but let’s do it anyway.”
By contrast, Kevin Rudolf seemed woefully unready for prime time. On “Let It Rock,” his Top 40 anthem featuring Lil Wayne, he would’ve been lost without his fans, who were more excited about singing it than he was.
He looked even sillier once Jesse McCartney, decked out in his Saturday night finest of charcoal suit and tie, took the stage with his stylized R&B. “Leavin’ ” was his summer hit, but the fans’ screams suggested it has a longer shelf life.
British pop star Natasha Bedingfield also went unplugged, which highlighted the more tender aspects of her sweet music. Even though she was introduced by reality-TV pinup Brody Jenner, she sounded less syndicated and more heartfelt.
R&B star Ne-Yo headlined Jingle Ball and for good reason, and not just because of his many hits. At Monster Jam in October he was an opening act, but he proved he’s become a major star in is own right. With a full band and light show, Ne-Yo was the consummate showman, a role model for some of the evening’s earlier performers.
James Reed can be reached at jreed@globe.com.
My nxt vote for a Christmas song is -Ave Maria by Shubert. Even though it is classical, David with his training can pull it off. Maybe not for the Jingle Balls but definitely on his album which he has no choice but to release. As someone poster earlier -- WE ARE CHOMPING AT THE BIT!
Have a good day all ….till later!
rascal -- I have been wondering how Jive should market David if not the proven track of teen/tweens marketing. I am naive about marketing in the music industry. What other routes are there?
#39 betsy, I am delighted to see your Patsy Cline comment. She has always been one of my favorites.
#5 debra5354, “overcome with elderly parents needs.” At this stage of life, they need your love more than ever. May God bless you.
Well, I got up about 20 minutes ago (taking a vacation day here to catch up on Christmas shopping, wrapping, etc.) and I’ve spent most of my awake time this morning watching and listening to HYAMLC. Um, move over Judy Garland -- there’s a new kid in town. I didn’t make it through the first viewing before the tears started. Gosh, look what ya made me do. Again.
I’m a mess…
And Rascal -- that photo is absolutely stunning, not unlike the young man in it.
ninaf, besty and ronaldsf:
Like you I’d love HYAVMC sans screams. However, I am thinking now that David would probably think something is wrong if there isn’t screaming when he sings ahahaha.
Remember during AI that little video clip that the AI website had up of David looking stressed and asking “Why do they scream?” By now, that has to be his norm!
Good morning all! So many new posts to get through…
First, another blog line that I will cherish: “I love being so close to the audience” (his reaction to the Northern Lights concert, which I attended). Guess what, Sweetie Pooh, I love being close to you too! GAH!
Also, Zoe, no shame in blowing kisses! If Ms. Presley, at her age, can steal a kiss from him, then we’re keeping things clean.
Second, that HYAMLC is one for the books! So how many Christmas carols have we gotten?
-O Holy Night
-Silent Night
-O Come All Ye Faithful
-The Christmas Song/”Chestnutts”
-Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
That’s half an album already! Count me in as someone who wants him to do “Ave Maria.” Next Christmas, I want him to do a Christmas concert with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and do a rendition of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy with them.
I’d love, love, loooooove to also hear him sing the tenor’s opening riff in Handel’s Messiah -- “Comfort Ye, My People.” Squee!
Other Christmas carols he must cover: “White Christmas,” “The First Noel,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “Mary Did You Know,” “Once in Royal David’s City,” and “O Little Town of Bethlehem.”
That album would sell like hot cakes, don’t you think?
Bliss! I loved your comments in the previous thread. The reason why I took the time to respond to your question is because I knew your question went much deeper than a simple “invasion” of David’s privacy. I agree that we shouldn’t treat certain subjects as taboo.
Good morning all. And, a special hello to Kizzi and HG who are my “friends-in-ODD” from Northern Lights. What a great way to start the day!! Another beautiful photo of David at the top of a new Rascal post, David’s adorable, wordy blog and… videos from Philly! More than anything (like all of us here, I think) David’s performances just leave me wanting more and more. It’s bad enough (well, scratch that, it’s actually very GOOD!!), I go to sleep humming his songs… I now wake with them on my mind, and listen to them as much as possible during the day. And to think the CD has only been out a month. ALTNOY is definitely to next big hit… and I’m sure will out sell Crush because of the new fans he is acquiring daily. Although sales and $$$ many not be David’s focus, the numbers do mean something in the music business, and David did say he grew up scouring the charts even if it was just to see what songs worked. David has said he “just wants to sing and for us to enjoy his music.” And, we certainly are doing just that. The Thousand Miles song was a briliant addition to his show. I watched his face during this latest Philly video and to me it almost seemed like a tease…David pauses and smiles and by the look in his eyes I got the impression -- besides the enjoyment of it all, David is almost saying to us: “Just you guys wait for what I have in store for you!!” He WILL amaze us…(we know that!!). He already has us mesmerized and for me, since the Sacremento show, I have been stunned beyond words Except now, only to say, I agree that David singing a Christmas song is most definitely his gift to us, his fans!! What a merry and happy time this is!! Thank you, David.

Hello Gorgeous, thanks so much for understanding where I was coming from on that post. My intent was to show how David inspires passion on both sides, and he is causing people to rethink their attitudes on a number of issues. This is how society changes and moves away from antiquated notions. David is becoming the personification of those changes, which is causing reactions from those invested in the staus quo. That is what I was trying to say in that post. It had nothing to do with how David lives his personal life.
Ironocally, David is extremely open about his personal life and is more than willing to share things about himself that are, technically, none of the public’s business. What 17 year old boy in this society would share the fact that he has never been kissed? Most boys spend half their life trying to create an aura of being very experienced in that area. David’s ease with the truth is a threat to a lot of young, and not so young, men. Anyway, that’s what I was trying to do.
David ‘s much more than just a great singer. If that’s all he was, there would not be this or other websites that are adoring his every move and word. David is a complete original. That will cause him to be misunderstood by a lot of people. Elvis was seen as a great threat in the ’50s, and created a tremendous backlash. David is seen in some circles as “too good”, whatever that means. Meanwhile, he just goes about his daily life en route to becoming the superstar that he probably already is.
I just listened to him sing “Have Yourself a Very Merry Xmas”. My vocabulary does not include words to describe the experience adequately.
#80 blisskasden “David’s ease with the truth is a threat to a lot of young, and not so young, men.” Great observation.
Speaking of tweens, OMG, is anyone else ANNOYED? I am so glad I did not go to the Buffalo Jingle Ball. I knew being surrounded with teens would drive me insane. David is trying to sing Christmas Carols and the kids are singing along with him and screaming while he is singing? Excuse me, but don’t we want to hear just David sing? I mean, can’t you sing when you leave the concert. All of these videos are filled with screaming, singing annoying teens. I don’t get that. I think it’s more that I’m old. I mean yes you go to a concert to have fun, but I would think you would want to HEAR the singer sing? I so wish I could hear a clean version of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. I think it was amazing but I’m not sure since they were screaming and singing during it. Grrrrrr!!
Iamblisskasden, very well said. David is an original. I’ve never met a 17 year old boy who isn’t influenced by peer pressure. He goes against the grain in all that he does and doesn’t do. Admitting he’s never been kissed is unheard of from a 17 year old.
Even though I was complaining about the screaming, I think the screaming in general is much deeper. These girls are screaming because they cannot believe a boy like him exists. They scream because they can’t believe their good fortune to be witnessing this dream come true of a man who also just happens to have the greatest voice since Sinatra. Someone who openly admits that he respects girls? Someone proud that he is a virgin and of his religion? David is one of a kind and that’s why they scream. They are screaming for joy because they can’t believe this could be happening to them.
Girls like their bad boys but deep down, they long for a boy who is sensitive and real. Here is David, a gentleman, pure and innocent, selfless, giving. What’s not to scream about?
