Kudos to David for a great acting job -- he doesn’t just do the anguished eyes-closed look. Lots of intensity with JUST HIS STARE.
I think David is showing real potential as an actor. I could actually feel his anguish. The only other time I can think of seeing him visibly upset was on the finale night of AI. I remember thinking that his face is so expressive. This video really works for him!!!

Reminds me of Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River” video for a number of reasons. About a breakup, the empty house, the rain, the intense stares, 2nd single, big hit…
It is like looking into his mind when he sings this song--all the emotions flit across his face, raw, vulnerable.

The choice of actress for this video makes me think the directors are looking through fan sites for ideas. She looks a bit like Mietra to me, and also a bit like the famous girl-who-David-stared-at-in-the-meet-and-greet line on the AI tour.

It’s official and I don’t care who the hell doesn’t want me to say it, the manchild is smexy, with a capital SM, lol.
First of all the girl is a much better fit for him. It seems the chemistry was real. She’s approachable, touchy-feely, and he welcomes it. I liked that I got a sensual vibe from the video yet it was clean, the chemistry was implied not thrust into your face, sorta like real chemistry, not video chemistry if you will.
David looked amazing, dashing, flirty, fun. He’s a leading man. Who’da thunk it? Swoon? Heck yeah!

Despite all the music-video clichés (shots through the rain, cavorting on the beach), I can’t help but love it.
Although (and please don’t hate me for this, guys), I actually laughed out loud at that half-pout/scowl of David’s as he gives a sideways glance at the camera at 1:01. He’s totally sincere, it’s just … I don’t know why that made me laugh. [And I still don't know why.] Better watch again …..

When I was thinking of the concept for the video, my thought was that the video should be a cross between the videos of Rob Thomas’ Lonely No More and Toni Braxton’s Unbreak My Heart but more youthful and clean. And Voila! The Altnoy video is fantastic!

I mentioned this gift about David with regard to music but now the same can be said for his acting. The Crush vid suited David because it matched the end of AI and the beginning of his single path. Now a couple months removed from August -- the acting in this vid is a cut above what was previously done in Crush. His singing and performing live has grown as exponentially as his acting. Wasn’t it last week we were oohing and ahhing over the Pepsi Smash Crush Video? Just when you think you know David -- he keeps changing the rules of the game.
If this “singing thing” doesn’t work out…….God Help Us All
Vlabraz, the hataz are running scared cause David will not be denied. I liked Crush and the Crush video was adorable. This freaking video is hot, and David is downright sexy. You see, you don’t have to have a video with a bunch of semi-clad vixens gyrating, or humping cars to be sexy. This manchild showed that with a look, a very soft touch, or a smile that sexiness isn’t about obsenity, anything but. I love when they worry. Shows David’s doing it right.
Altnoy and the accompanying video portray such a leap in content and artistry in such a short time frame that I am almost afraid of what the next video will be like, and there will be another video. This medium is perfect for David.
HG, you got rid of everything? ‘Sigh’ I have one picture. We’re standing in front of our high school, my afro (yep wore my natural waaay into the ’80′s, lol) almost overshadowed our features……I treasure that photo…

It is understandable that the “love team” in ALTNOY would have more chemistry than the “love team” in CRUSH cos the circumstances are different. Has to be that way. Besides, it is really no fun being in-crush with your best friend. That’s major awkwardness as can only be invented by The Archuleta. With ALTNOY, they have an on-going relationship already. I love their pairing and their goofiness. Cute couple.
I adore David’s GF in ALTNOY. Very charming & warm w/o being self-conscious -- you know what I mean? SF- This video is the stuff of pure female fantasy…albeit toned down fantasy, but fantasy none-the-less. It hits all the right spots, or as Simon says, “it checks all the boxes.”
Create a fantasy-man……. during the day he will be sweet, smily, funny, playful, he will share his food, he will dress in stripes and cashmere sweaters, he’ll give his girl piggy back rides and play games with her….. Then at night……. he will wear black leather and baby blue, he will play his guitar madly as he pines for her…all alone….. in his cool, hip, uberchic-bachelor-mansion, ….he will regret every wrong he’s ever done her, wonder what went wrong, he will feel pain and confusion…all at the thought of her….. he will brood and he will ache….. all the while lookin’ smolderin’ and smokin’……
I honestly believe that one of the reasons we enjoy David so much is that we take pride and JOY in every little step he takes forward as an artist. When he moves forward we share the journey with him.
What sets him apart for us is that other artists even as young as Miley and the JBros seem to come oven-baked and ready to go in minutes. There is no room left for them to grow because they seem like pros already. Whenever I see Miley on TV she talks and expresses herself as a 20yr+
Just to put David in context -- a 17 yr old in my class today brought me ultra-sound pic of his baby girl in utero. David admits repeatedly that he has not even kissed a girl a yet. I think that’s what makes him refreshing -- he is growing up at his own pace and in his own way and we are along for the ride.

I always knew David was gonna be huge, just never expected him to climb so fast, at lightening speed! he needs to take a breather after the tour, go home, take a trip with the family. Take the time to contemplate what all this means to him and his family, not to mention his close friends. No matter haw much David wants to have a normal life, from now on, that is a thing of the past..He needs to take the time to talk with his brother & sisters, his mom & dad about how his Superstardom is going to change all their lives forever. David, I think, really has no idea how huge he is right now..He kinda refuses to believe it and he better start believing it and dealing with it..he should see that he deserves all the accolades and praises that are coming his way..
I worry about him still, for his safety and his health..silly me! One more concert up north in the cold, cold air, then down to warmer air and ME!! Yay!

ronaldsf..Yes, david is living his dream! He’s worked and studied hard for more than half his life for this! Many people think he’s just a kid from Utah who has a good voice & got lucky on AI. We know that’s not true. He is not some overnight sensation..it’s taken years of work, dedication, perseverance, and sacrifice. His family had a big hand in it as well. I hope he goes home, chills with the family and rests, but that probably won’t happen..David will be asked to perform in church, or school or other functions, and he will cuz he still can’t say no..He thinks he “owes” us..He dooesn’t! We owe HIM!

The first time I watched the video I was alternating between “Oh poor baby! The wounded eyes! The wounded eyes!!!!!” and just howling with laughter thinking, “Go David, way to work the camera!!!” I don’t know why I was surprised, he was working the camera already back on Idol but he has raised his game now and the Archugaze really has turned into a deadly weapon:-) And David Archuleta definitely has acting chops. I always suspected it but now I am sure!
Rascal…the lid just exploded with the looks he gives in this video…kinda like waiting for a pressure cooker while it is jiggling, waiting for it to blow. Ummm…yeah..it did! LOL!!

With this video, David has officially ended any and all identity with American Idol. The mark of a great actor is that you feel what he/she is feeling and you believe it to be true. That is exactly what I experienced watching this video. How does a soon-to be 18 year old guy, who admits to having had no sexual experiences, not even a kiss, project such raw sexuality? People Magazine should stop the presses right now. The Sexiest Man alive is not even a man yet. Seriously, I was blown away by this video, and the song itself never sounded so good. The pathos in his voice and etched on his handsome face feels so authentic, it’s difficult to watch. David will continue to surprise and amaze us for years to come, because we have been privy to only a glimpse of his full potential. He’s doling it out in doses that he thinks we can handle, but this time it’s a little too much Love ya, David.

BLISS -- someone once said, when you got, you got it… And our David truly “got it” and in spades.
I guess, he doesn’t have to experience (yet) to enable him to express. True artists, like David, are genuine witnesses of experiences. They don’t just let go of things. They, in extraordinary measure, participate in what is and drink in the energy that life brings.
Rascal spoke of a marriage to describe David’s relationship with music and/or his audience. How did such relationship develop?
I can imagine the young David evolving from a raw, unintegrated instinct from the time he picked up that Les Mis tape at age 6, into a perceptual resolution of his raw essentials when he heard Tamyra Gray of AI S1 at age 10. He himself said it in an interview: “What was that I felt in my stomach?!,” upon hearing Gray.
I honestly believe that at that point, David’s chakra was awakened. Am not sure if it was his Svadhisthana (Sacral Chakra) or his Manipura (Solar Plexus/Navel Chakra) that was awakened (have to review this). But whatever it was, it enabled him to act on that “fire on his belly” — forge an emotional connection to bring his raw essentials to where he is now wrt music.
It is a good thing that music is his mistress. That is one lover we, his muse, will never be jealous of.

The contrast of joy and angst in this video is actually heartbreaking to watch. David acts both parts wonderfully and is totally convincing. I “feel his pain” and there are expressions on his face that we have never seen before, i.e. pain, anger, regret, confusion, to name a few. When Elvis first became a superstar he starred in a few movies that demanded acting ability (Love Me Tender, and King Creole come to mind). Elvis would have been a great actor had Col. Parker, his manager ,allowed him to pursue that path. Instead , he made one rediculous, but successful movie ( Clam Bake, Viva Las Vegas) after another, and was never tested as a serious actor in his later career. David shows great emotional range and substance in this video. He already has the movie star looks. Let’s face it, the expression “he’s got it all” was coined for David.
David Archuleta is like a Christmas present that we get to open every day. We know that a precious gift from David awaits us inside and we’re surprised each and every time we open it.

Don´t worry- I was almost in the same situation, wondering. It seems I `m nowadays lurking allover internet checking up what is going on with David (since Hollywood AI).
My adult children are almost ready to reserve some space for me from the nearest mental hospital (it is not normal mom is acting so silly and listening that David Archuleta boy all day long and night too).
My friends have limited max. 15 min per day for me to poor out all new about David.
But then I realised: dang it. I have raised my children, always behaving as “per standarts”, never fangirling anyone. But now it is my time to let it loose and David was the factor, indeed he was. And I really can`t find a better one to fangirl in my age (or in any age). So now I am just enjoying everything that is happening.Good things happen for those who wait. and DAVID IS A GOOD THING.
Perhaps one day he even comes to Europe and I have the possibility to see him live.

Am also a mother of 2 teens who have calmly accepted that they now have a 3rd sibling who just happens to be in the US. They once curiously exclaimed that I am a fan and I confidently proclaimed I am. My son told me that it is nothing to be proud of and my daughter -- who is a drummer and a rock fan just shook her head in amazement.
Well I told them I don’t give a hoot to what they think and I, of all people, who have raised them for 20 years on my own, deserve to be happy. That one last bit did it! They never dared say anything against my ODD.

I’ve always enjoyed “A Little too not Over You” better than “Crush” and I feel this video outdistances the first by a mile. The feelings David portrays are quite raw & intense. I love the part where David looks so accusingly at the camera while singing “you’re with him now”. Wow, quite powerful. I also love how David seems younger, and the world is more colorful during the happy times. During the angry scenes you can sense the volcano seething just below the surface. I feel the video is also, just a little bit autobiographical. The girl is the extrovert, while David is the introverted one. The sneaker/ barefeet scene I feel relays this nicely. David is the one enclosed, while the girl is letting it all hang out. I’m speculating that this is the reason for the break-up. People at MJ’s are teasingly calling David a “manchild” in this video LOL… It seems like there was a CONSCIOUS decision on the part of the director to make David seem younger in the “before” scenes and older in the “after” scenes. It’s evident in the clothes, the settings, the colors, the lighting, David’s expressions, and of course when David sings he ages several years.
As if the director KNEW David had these 2 very different sides to him and wanted to take advantage of it as much as possible…

It’s early, and I’m supposed to be getting ready for my trip..but had to watch THE VIDEO again!
Is it my imagination, or does it, HE get better with each viewing?? He is sooo good! My eyes are glued on him, don’t even notice the others in the vid or the scenery, just David..David? No, the was a character created by David! He is so believable! A very good actor!
Funny thing, and the most telling of his performance, is he KNOWS how it must FEEL, but in reality HE will never feel that anguish & pain if he can help it! When he finds and has that first (& only) person of his dreams, it will be the forever kind of love.
I have one wish for myself, and that is to meet David in Atlanta (fat chance!) and ask him if he remembers the cra-zeh “GOTCHA” lady in Evansville who also TOLD him he would be a great ACTOR as well, and he looked at me like I really was cra-zeh, laughed at me and said in that modest and endearing way of his, “Aww, no, I don’t know about that” and laughed again!

Bliss, I was going to respond to your David bearing resemblance to Elvis in terms of acting. Now that Hollywood looks like it’s trying to revive the movie musical genre (and have been doing so unsuccessfully I might add), David is the perfect leading man.
I remember going to see Sweeney Todd because I adore Johnny Depp but left the movie screaming bloody murder because neither he nor Helena Bonham Carter could sing! Sorry, but you need to be able to sing well in a musical. And that was a problem for me with this so-called revival. In fact, I was already threatening to burn the movie house down (ha ha! I’m not that violent, but just don’t push me to the brink) if they made Les Miz into a movie musical and starred some non-singing actor to play Jean Valjean. It’s bad enough the movie version of Phantom of the Opera made me hate the actor forever who tried to but failed to deliver on “Music of the Night.” Any actor screws up “Bring Him Home,” I swear I’ll hunt him down!
Enter David Archuleta, a guy with the voice of an angel and smoldering looks who’s “ready for his close-up.” Now that David’s around, I say: Bring on the movie musical! You’ve got the perfect star for such a vehicle! He’s obviously too young to play Jean Valjean in Les Miz, but he’d be perfect to play Marius (although what I wouldn’t give to hear David sing “Bring Him Home”).
Considering David loves Broadway musicals (remember in young David’s journal he saw tons while he was in New York City?), he’d be ready for this!
I don’t think the movie musical is outdated, they just need a singing, acting star to pull it off. No more Johnny Depps who can’t sing in a decent baritone!

I just watched the video with Elvis Duran. David has been interviewed by numerous people who are pros in the field of interviewing, and a striking similarity takes place every time. At some point in the interview, the interviewer becomes undone, and falls hopelessly in love with David. It happened with Regis, Bonie Hunt, Ellen, the TV Guide gal, every DJ in the country, the MiTRL young guy Carlos (“I just had a moment with David Archuleta”), etc etc. No one is spared, and they all love it. David’s warmth, sincerity and complete lack of guile is an intoxicating cocktail of humanity that cannot be resisted, nor should it be attempted.
Our friend Elvis , a hip, NYC DJ, is reduced to mush here, and it is a joy to see. This is why I think that David is causing people to rethink their attitudes about relating, and what quailities in others they value. When Elvis invited David to debut ALTNOY at Z100, there is an almost pleading quality in his voice.
There is a new medical condition out there. It’s called Archuleta-itis, and there is no known or desired cure. It’s main symptom is that you suddenly have renewed faith in your fellow man, and the joy in your heart is rekindled.
It happened to me at the Virgin Records signing on 11/11. One look in my eyes from David was all it took. It’s the gift that keeps on giving, I can tell you that.

Ronald#218, not only am I surprised by the “wall of skepticism” over at IDF, but I’m equally surprised at how many people think David giving a solo tour is a bad idea. I’ve never interpreted concerts as opportunities to win non-fans over. Quite the opposite: concerts are for die-hard fans who’ll shell out $$ and travel anywhere to see their idol live. I think we all know the Arch Angels are ready and willing to support David all the way.

Do you think that it would be more believable that David cared about her if he ever looked at her especially in a shot that contained both of them? Not to force anything on David ever, but he did have more actual facial connections with the girl in Crush…This girl for this video tried so hard to get his attention…but no looks of admiration…just straight on to the camera…Or, was that the reason for the break-up?
He did spend a lot of time looking at the camera when the shots could have been of them interacting…She was definately looking at him…If this is the case then would it be perhaps best if the video was with him singing alone? He only showed that she was a friend until he was hurting at her leaving…such a conflicting contrast of his emotions…I look forward to an explanation…

SandyBeaches — I was a director (theater, film, and television) for some time before I started doing digital work and wound up in advertising. I was not terribly impressed with this director’s previous work, and as it happens I am not terribly impressed with his work on this video (I am not, I confess, terribly impressed with the video overall--other than David’s work in it, which I think is excellent, even despite the fact that he did not, as you suggest, receive particularly insightful direction). This guy looks to me to be more of a cinematographer than a director; I wouldn’t be surprised if he started out behind a camera.
It’s interesting to remember David’s comments about this shoot, and to know how to “read between the lines” when it comes to David. He said, in effect, that the shoot was “difficult” (or challenging or tiring or something like that). In David-speak, that means he had serious problems with something. When David even suggests anything was not “awesome,” that usually means it was a disaster. On shoots like these, the only thing that can really cause any problems are conditions (e.g. weather or technical issues for things like special effects), creative differences, or personalities. I don’t suspect David would have had problems with the other actors or any of the crew, and it is almost always the case that if Talent (for those of you who are unfamiliar, the performer in productions such as these is referred to as, simply, “Talent”) has problems, it is invariably with the director.
I agree with your assessment of the lack of interaction. I suppose it could be retro-rationalized as a “reason” for why the relationship didn’t work, but that seems like a stretch.

For some reason the director missed that. Did they instruct him, telling him how to look at her or touch her or did they just shoot and then selected what takes to use later?
That’s why I joked yesterday that the video would still be good without the girl. Just David and the camera since he’s apparently infatuated with it, as Rascal has pointed out.

Yes HG #223, there should be concerts that are primarily for the fans.
But I guess since the age of heavy cross-promotion, where we see movie toys in McDonald’s Happy Meals and pop songs in our motion pictures, people have come to expect that every artist’s song choice, every TV appearance needs to be some calculated move, with some ulterior motive behind the music.
Of course, that’s not what moved us to become David’s fans in the first place. Still, broader success will mean he can bring his inspiration and music to more people.
Next year, it would be awesome to have both a solo tour AND a bigger arena tour opening for the people you mentioned over at IDF (awesome post by the way!).

Ooh, let me chime in and say that I’ve been hearing lots of reports of non-fans liking this song and finding David “HAWT,” and that the reason for that is not only the video, but the SONG.
Come on, the way he sings those verses, with that R&B beat, the Latin-tinged syncopations, his inflections… he looks and SOUNDS schmexy.
I sure would like to know why David was not thinking this was an “awesome” video experience.

rascal and sandybeaches, I too was struck by how the girl in the video was all over him, looking at him, wrapping her scarf around him, play-punching him, and how David was mostly looking not at her, but at the camera. Even in the beach shot I noticed that David’s arm is around her, but his hand hardly touches her. The result is that we focus on David -- perhaps this is what the director wanted.
I’m not wanting to take anything away from the video -- I love it. I’m just curious about this technique. I’m wondering if it was intentional, or maybe David is just so used to looking at the camera, that that is what he does. Another thought -- maybe all the physical contact was just a bit much for David.
i don’t remeber hearing that David thought the video shoot was anything less than awesome. in one of his phone messages he said it was so much fun and he blogged “Another really exciting thing that happened this week was filming the music video for A Little Too Not Over You. This video was so much fun! It took a lot longer, but I really had a great time. The director was really creative and fun to work with, and the people who were in the video were hilarious! ”

I believe that David is just shy with girls, and it came through even in the video. (I was like that with guys at his age — if I liked the guy, I had to know him a while to be able to really even look at him. And it was exponentially worse depending on how big my crush was.) And this could be a good reason for a girl to move on, even past the guy no one believes any girl would leave. But if that was the idea, rather than David just acting naturally and not being better directed, they could have supported it more.
Still, I love the video.

Regarding your comment # 226, I grew up in the Bronx, so your reference to Elvis Duran’s having a “har-er” for David was not lost on me. It is uncanny how many of these “guys” on radio and TV abandon their bravado and machismo when they are in David’s company. My favorite interview was Carlos on MiTRL. It’s on YouTube
and it’s classic. At one point, this young macho guy is so taken by David’s warmth that he says something like “You love your fans, and you’re willing to be nice to them”, or something to that effect. He then catches himself and says “Wow. I just had a ‘moment” with David Archuleta.” He had been swept away by David’s power of goodness, and had no control over where it took him.
American idol is not really a touchy-feely show. However, this year, everybody who came in contact with David could not keep their paws off of him. Check out the videos of the show and you will see that David was singled out for the affections of anyone who got close enough to touch him. Seacrest and Cook were at the top of that list. The famous Natasha Bettingfield incident seemed spontaneous to me. It’s as if she could not resist the opportunity to run back to get in a quick hug.
After this video, however, we are in new territory. David is no longer an adorable, innocent little boy. To quote Randy ,he is “ready to go” and people are going to start relating to him in that context. I am eager to see if the people (men and women) who interact and interview him treat him differently than they have in the past. I wonder if the world is ready to have David be wondeful and sexy. There are moments in this video where David is the equal of Elvis in raw appeal. I think Elvis’ 52 year reign is about to come to an end, although I thought it had after David sang “Love Me Tender” on AI.
I think I remember seeing it in a video interview. The reference was oblique (as he usually is), something about being tiring, or tough, or something like that. I just remember thinking when I saw it, hmm, that’s David-speak for ‘I didn’t love it.’

I remember feeling like someone had kicked me right in the gut! I had to work overtime to not burst into tears. (Rumors of Cook’s win, as foreshadowed on Dial Idol the night before, had prepared me, but I certainly was not prepared for the way David scurried to the sidelines … to make room for his inferior, I might add!
N.E. Waaaay, I got started on my Xmas shopping today, and guess what I found when I went to B&N? Remember how I said there were limits to “the things I do for David”? *rolls eyes at myself.*

In response to all the comments about David looking at the camera…..It seems to me that this is perfectly natural. After all, this is not a skit. It is a series of photos/vids from his gadget. When photos are taken, to preserve memories of good times, most people look at the camera, others do goofy things, like kiss someone, make rabbit ears, whatever…The girl is more of a ham and David is more of a smile for the camera. The girl was perfect for this! I certainly do not think he seems stilted or in any uncomfortable around her.
Like everyone else, I love it. Rascal, I’m glad I don’t know about direction and production. “It pays to be ignorant!”

I really love their chemistry! Those adorable goofy, silly faces, uninhibited and carefree. Remember David’s piggyback ride on Cook during some publicity thing? With his reknowned modesty, who would’ve imagined him doing the same thing with a girl and with such unbridled delight! And I love how she wraps her arms around him in several shots. For having just met in real life, they seem to have been able to establish an immediate and effortless chemistry. Very appealing and believable….way to go, David!!

Seasoned professionals are left stuttering and trying to explain, usually their dumb or silly inference…I remember when he first was doing well on AI, a reporter asked him about what class he struggled with and he said Chemistry- The reporter said ” Ha, guess you would not have to worry about that teacher giving you a bad grade now…: ha ha,,,,” and David just said ” What? I don’t follow…” And the reporter just sputtered and sort of laughed unconfortably. It was just classic!
ODD symptom,—this one’s for Silverfox and company:
When hearing David sing one must be armed with boxes of tissues, pillows or other cushioning, noise reducing earplugs and paddles at the ready. Brownies have been known to alleviate severe reactions.
Have a ball! Or will you be jamming? I can never keep them straight.
FREO -- I have been praying for him to sing Joyful Joyful, altho I realized that the whole song would best be suited with accompaniment or better an orchestra. That’s why it kills me that the only surviving vid is cut-off at the most unfortunate part. SIGH.
DJB -- so THAT’s why you have been MIA for sometime! You have been trying to tame your ODD… O MY. Honey, give it up, there is no escape. Look at me, miles away, have never heard him live, have never touched him or seen those infamous eyes of his, or be blinded by the wattage of that archusmile and yet am as gaga over this man-child (RONALDSF -- I have been calling him that way for the longest of time!) as anyone of you guys. I miss you and HAPPY during the nightshift!

HG -- Our David singing BRING HIM HOME? Slay me now, even if am just imagining it!

I am really working on channeling myself down a new path with my ODD. AI is now history, its redeeming factor that it introduced me to this wonderful singer and person. I want everyone to stop introducing him as an American Idol and instead refer to him as that “young, talented, singer with the fantastic future.”
I consume everything David not for validation of the past but for inspiration for the future. Every reviewer that is less than kind gets the old “just you wait, Buddy, you’ll eat your words”. David put out a good album, did very well on the summer tour, has grown and inspired with the Jingle thing, made two very pleasing videos that make us, his fans very excited.
Has David risen anywhere near his potential? Heaven forbid, he is just on the first rung of the ladder but he has secured the ladder very well and as he moves up it, it will be with more confidence and he, as well as us, will relish in the growth.
My love of David and all things David is because it is allowing me a prominant point from which to view the proceedings. That is why I am so excited…it makes me feel like that young girl going to her first prom, on her first date, winning that hard fought scholarship, watching babies being born, seeing the world for the first time. It is giving me an opportunity to embrace a life that had turned old and mundane. Thanks Mr. David Archuleta!

ODD symptom #6
Heard “O Holy Night” at my lunch cafe today (not David of course), felt my heart take a leap and I nearly burst into tears right there at the cashier.
I think I’ve cried more in the past few months listening to David sing than in the past few years -- crying for joy, for overflowing emotion, for I-don’t-know-why. I’m beginning to call this the “season of my weeping.”
Oh Bliss re this—> 4)The sight of David walking to the side of the stage after the final result was announced on AI makes you physically ill.
I am totally with HG. In fact, I feel physically ill right now. Even though I believe Rascal was right about being second and all. Even though everything turned out just fine. Even though…… its just….that moment……

WOW! just checked FOD & snarky’s..there’s about 3″ of snow in Chicago and David hadn’t arrived at the venue as of 7:00, 8 EST..But he’s there now! Jenny @ FOD who is there says he’s wearing fitted jeans ( only David can wear fitted jeans!) a green shirt, scarf & jacket. Looks amazing and is very relaxed!
Zoe: I sort of tried to confess my love of all things David to one of my staff at work. I even e-mailed her his recent rendition of Imagine that I thought was the best yet- at the Tree Lighting, to get her to “see the light”
She just said ” ok, I listened” and nothing~ How is that humanly possible? Another friend I e-mailed her the link to O Holy Night. I knew she was stressed out with the holidays etc… She did respond back “Just Beutiful” but not what has been my reaction to David- which is
to want to run out into the street screaming- Have you all heard this kid? He is the best thing since ice cream, sliced bread, electricity, the car, the light bulb- well you get the idea. So I have sort of concluded that each of us who are so taken by him, must share some common factor, not sure what it is…..but I suspect we are pretty special. I studied music for 21 years of my life. I lived in a house when my father was a concert and stage band director and he took part in world music festivals winning in Austria which was the highlight of his career… I met many musicians over the years and knew when I heard David sing “Imagine” that he was the most magnificent singer that I possibly had ever heard…That night I listened to David sing Imagine 17 times in a row (nearly) before I stopped listening to all the different aspects of his voice and musical abilities…it took that many times to appreciate him fully…others may take once haha…
Knowing his uneasiness with girls…perhaps the girl would have been better off opposite him so that he had to naturally look at her and we could use our imagination for his reasons why….can you tell me who the director is? Him on her back is not quite David as we see him on stage and experience his maturity,,,enough with the childplay and kid stuff please…I would like to see AI never mentioned again…that is the past and the present has too much to talk about…
Liz — It’s a cleansing. Stored emotions that true art has the ability to release. The emotions themselves may be painful but the act of releasing them is joyful. That’s what a David Archuleta performance is all about.

The reason the fitted jeans rock is because they are an unambiguous assertion of David’s independent thinking. There are factions of David’s “support” network--some of whom have direct access to him--who do not like this sartorial inclination, no, they do not like it at all, and would undoubtedly seek to quash this horrendous display of bodily exhibition.
What these parochial hypocrites fail to realize is that David does not suffer from their own prurient guilt, and so he has no justifiable reason to sublimate the god-given beauty of the human form.

Thanks for all the well-wishes about my finals. It actually kind of sucks because I had to take 2 Incompletes because this has been a somewhat difficult semester. So I’ll be doing 2 twenty page research papers over winter break

I just played HYAMLC to this friend of mine and he said it was sort of “lame” and that he “wasn’t really into it.” I wanted to slap him! I huffed away in disgust. That’s one way I show my ODD: I simply cannot have a rational debate when it comes to David Archuleta! You either love him or leave him!!

NICE! What are you, blind, deaf and totally oblivious! It is utterly fantastic, perfect, enthralling! LOL!
One thing, though -- I’ve always had a stronger connection to music than she has. Introduced her to Sarah Brightmann (who she thought was only okay until I took her to a live concert), and generally give her “new music” to spark up her listening repertoire.
I definitely think the people who watched David progress through AI tend to “get him” more than those who hear him for the first time on Crush, too. It is something about getting to see that “spiritual” thing that emanates from him. The thing that brings tears to our eyes when he sings.

Many of us encounter people who just don’t get the extraordinary talents that we see in David…many of us see everything about him many don’t…Where are the minds of these people coming from…I am not being sarcastic but actually wondering…Is there something different going on in the person’s brain who does not see and hear what we see and hear? Is there a bit of the grey matter missing? Something is missing…have a good sleep and may you hear David’s Christmas carols in your head when you awaken…
To clarify, I was actually being creative when I said I wanted to commit violence and stalked away in disgust. I tend to be colorful with words some time when conveying my utter frustration.

Hi everyone. Just back from Sin City and feeling a heckuva light lighter in the wallet. The snow storm closing the interstate didn’t exactly help either. Want to thank the Achieletans who commented on my last post of the 14th. Thanks to Karenkid, Tofan, HG, Kurt1960, ninaf, highervib and awestruck for your kind words.
Ninaf, did want to comment on the Messiah thing you mentioned. Before the recent election I had a conversation with a post-grad acquaintance who happens to be a ‘brotha’ (please don’t take offense Sistah HG!) about Barry O. He asked me what I thought of the candidate, and I answered that while I didn’t believe he is a god, I sure hoped he is a saint. The brotha laughed, said he hadn’t heard that before, and promptly sent the comment out to all his friends on the net. Funny thing is, I kind of feel the same way about David. I know that is asking a lot of him, and that is unfair, but if he is a Bodhisattva as Rascal has said, than it may not be that unfair.
And Rascal, you shouldn’t be riling SF with comments like “he clearly has a big har–er, I mean an enormous amount of respect–for David”. You know how much trouble that may lead to. But then you stir the pot again with the remark about the fitted jeans. Tut-tut! Methinks you enjoy the dither you create………
