D&G = Authenticity
David and Gavin Degraw in Atlanta. Photo thanks to SnarkyArchies.
I’m totally diggin’ that David got perform and hang out with Gavin Degraw. I predicted David would blog about him, and he did. These guys have a lot in common, even though their styles veer off in different directions. Gavin is more Memphis with a folk/indie-rock feel, while David inclines toward Detroit soul, but they are both firmly blues based. What I think they have most in common is an authenticity that audiences connect with in a more visceral way than some of the slicker, more manufactured pop performers. Who else on the Jingle thingy rosters could wow an audience with self accompaniment alone?
Randomality: The president of my agency mentions in a meeting yesterday that his wife and daughter attended the Jingle Ball at MSG. “Oh, what did they think?” I asked, with as much nonchalance as I could muster while perching on the edge of my seat. “They said the best ones were Katy Perry, Ne-Yo, and… who was that other one…?”
By now I’m holding my breath.
“Oh, yeah: David Archuleta.”
Yes, folks, the world is beginning to catch up.
Rascal – I love that you pointed out the *Detroit Soul* aspect of David. It’s one of the first things I noticed about him.
I was born and raised in Motown. As a child I grew up listening to Stevie Wonder, The Four Tops, The Temptations… I could go on.
I hear a bit of all of them when David sings.
Then David’s own thing sneaks in and it’s all his own. Like music is new to me.
Grinned my way through this post, Rascal, but laughed out loud that Mr. Eloquent used the term “Jingle thingy.”
I thoroughly enjoyed Gavin’s set in Albany and hoped David was taking notes (as we know he does!) about how effective his unplugged solo performance was. Very intimate and personal, which I can see David wanting to strive for in future gigs.
When crushed in that mosh pit, two girls in their twenties asked very politely if they could switch places with Refnaf and I “just for Gavin.”
We agreed, wriggled past them and they proceeded to give us the sweetest sales pitch on how wonderful Gavin is (sound familiar?).
We urged them to stay for one of David’s songs, telling them “you will change your mind when you hear him live.” They said others told them the same thing, but they left the pit after Gavin. I do hope they stuck around at the back to hear David sing a few notes (good luck tearing yourself away then!).
It was very cool discovering Gavin’s music and laid-back charm that night and I hope David had the same effect on G’s fans cause, as you say Rascal, there’s something so refreshingly real and soulful about them both.
And love your Jingle story, Rascal. Would love to know if you broke down and attended one….
I’ve been lurking forever, but of all posts.. this one draws me out to comment. Go figure.
Rascal, I cannot imagine how you were able to maintain any level of composure during that meeting as you nonchalantly fished for David feedback. Ha, ha, ha. Thank goodness you heard what you needed to hear. What would have happened if your president had not dropped David’s name at the end? I don’t think I would have been able to handle that situation w/o giving it all away in my eyes….
And I love Gavin. He is so real, as you state. I’d love to see just the 2 of them tour together. But Gavin would have to open for our David….
That is one of the commonalities between Gavin and David. Authenticity. Who would think that a 17 year old could actually be so authentic.
TOfan, I hope that he does learn from Gavin, and Jason Mraz, and others for whom music is more than just a way to make money, but a way of life. I hope that he learns to bring humor into his stage presense the way he does in interviews. When those parts of David merge, the humility and the humor will be an irresistible force. Oh hell, he’s irresistible now….
Rascal, there was no need to worry. We lalready know what the world is finding out. David is a force to be reckoned with, he’s on this trajectory right now that will leave us breathless, yet wanting more. Yeah.
These jingle thingees were actually a great test for David. He passed with flying colors. The critics took notice, so it’s only a matter of time before the entire world knows.
trahnc welcome to ND! In the Albany JingleBall, David was the headliner so Gavin did open for him. In fact during his set, Gavin kept on dropping our David’s name to the delight of the audience
I wonder how Rascal would hold it in if a negative comment was made on David’s JingleBall performance, perched on his seat and all!
BTW Rascal, is this the same guy who reminded you about the use of earphones?
Rascal, Holding your breath? Edge of your seat? GAH…I’m thinking you must’ve been clenching fists, crossing fingers, crossing toes, crossing your legs, hanging on baited breaths! I’m proud you acted so perfectly nonchalant. How cool you got the response you were anxiously awaiting!
This kind of reminds me in some ways of a recent incident in class not long ago. A few of my students follow David, but I play dumb in class and don’t even begin to let on what I know because I know it would really weird them out. We were going around the room and I asked them who they’d like to interview for a magazine article. One student said, “David Archuleta!” I responded, “Oh, wasn’t he that kid on that TV show?”
In reality, I wanted to jump out of my seat!
So cool to see the delurkization going on! Welcome, trahnc!
Rascal, it’s funny how people are impressed by David, but don’t quite get his name yet? That has happened to me a number of times – people knowing who I’m talking about but can only say that “guy from Idol.” They enjoy his music too, but don’t quite remember the name. Just goes to show that the impact of his art is out of proportion to his exposure and fame.
I ALSO love that you place David within “Detroit soul.” I go to Detroit twice a year to do civil rights work and have an intimate bond with that city, and before I did that I fell in love Motown (it was all about Motown and the Beatles for me when I was a teenager). I still get frustrated when people think of David as just that “ballad boy,” and now he’s emerging as that “pop singer.” But da man’s also got SOUL!
I would love for David to do a high-profile duet with Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, or another artist who BRINGS ON the vocals. Once David shows that he can kill it along with the best of them, a whole other group of people will open their eyes!
jackryan4DA – #8 – ha ha, no, that was one of the founders, the CEO I guess he would be called (it’s a small agency), — most of my co-workers know about my ODD, so I totally applauded after our president mentioned David. The CEO, who likes to bust chops, comes back with, “yeah, so, do all of your musical tastes run toward the eight year-old girl genre?”
“Go ahead and laugh,” I said, “but when someday you go to purchase a David Archuleta album–and you will–you’ll think of me.”
“I’m sure I won’t be able to help it,” he replied.
Good times.
Rascal #11, love that … you’ll “think of me” … we’re all talking in Archie song titles now, lol….
Ha! I didn’t even realize that. Nice.
Good morning everyone. Tis the season to de-lurk! I told myself I’m just going to do it today! Besides, it’s my birthday and I feel brave! TOfan, I was in Albany also and adored Gavin. I was only familiar with a couple of his songs, but I consider myself a fan now. He has that soulful rocker thing going and he was so very personable.
brooklyndawn, I was talking to another David fan before his set and we commented about how David could learn a lot about on-stage banter from Gavin. It was nothing fancy, but you can tell he’s really comfortable in his own skin and won the whole crowd over. I have no doubt David will get there, probably faster than we think!
Can I just say as David performed, I couldn’t help but think there will come a time when he won’t need a band. It will be him, a keyboard and guitar. How glorious that will be. Crush on the keyboard was heartbreaking and tender. I’m sure he is working on his guitar skills as we speak. Of course, he would say he’s not good enough to perform for an audience. Oh David. We’ve heard that before!
And Rascal, it is only a matter of time for our David. World domination is imminent! Am I getting too excited?
Astrid22 I wish you a very Happy Birthday!
SandyBeaches & Diana – you are in my prayers – hope you are feeling much better soon.
Kizzi – sending prayers for your granddaughter.
You’ll know what we look like now. If you check FOD today, you’ll see a piece about Joner and my little fan gathering in Chicago, right before we left for the traffic debacle on the way to the venue a few blocks away.
Rascal, last weekend when I was out with some friends who had come back from University (or college as you call it) I met some friends of my friend (who is a music student herself and her friends were all also music students too) and we somehow got talking bout music and then we moved to X Factor and then onto American Idol. I nervously asked ‘So who was your favorite this year?’, holding my breath like you only to be greeted by a Universal ‘David Archuleta!’ from all of them. I think they picked up on my delight at that haha
Musical people love David, im really seeing that now.
Diana, I was on FOD this afternoon, and saw this post, so this is for you. robin says:
December 19th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
Hi everyone! Can someone do me a favor? I was reading comments at noting David. I am a FOD person and have never posted there. There was someone named Diana there that posted about how she was in terrible pain because she has shingles. Well, I got shingles three weeks before my daughter was getting married a year ago and I had the worst pain. I took loritab and percocet (sp) and it didn’t even touch it. A friend who is a drug rep. told me to try Lyrica and it was a miracle! It affects the nerves and I was pain free! Anyway I wanted to tell this Diana to get someone to prescribe Lyrica but I can’t post there. I tried and for some reason I can’t get a password or make it work. If some one would post this over there for me I would appreciate it very much. It honestly saved my sanity, (and the wedding) and I know it would help Diana. Thanks.
I hope you’re feeling better Diana, I’ve heard shingles is just awful. My prayers are with you. “Chickee”
chenson — the only one in my “real” life that I can discuss David with who really gets it is someone who graduated Manhattan School of Music and was an opera singer. A couple of weeks ago when we went to see “Milk” (great movie — the performances are quite spectacular, I predict Sean Penn making a beeline for a statue), I gave her my earphones and played the vids of “O Holy Night” and “A Thousand Miles” on my iPhone and she just sat watching, grinning, and shaking her head in amazement.
Freofan (and Joner) Fun to see the photos of you lovely ladies!
SandyBeaches, it appears as though you are suffering also. My prayers are with you.
As more critics and new fans begin to realize David’s authenticity, I notice them trying to find the right word to describe just THE VOICE. Words I have seen or heard used: smoky, foggy, aerated, soul-singed, menthol-cool, bluesy, and a few others I can’t remember. It made me wonder how I would describe it, but I can’t seem to find the word I need for “straight-to-the-heart-send-me-over-the-edge-sing-it-again-please gorgeous.”
You’re the expert, rascal. Can David’s voice even be described in one word?
off-topic, but very cool: a high quality version of the ALTNOY video (from Snarkies).

I love this photo of David with Gavin. I’ve always really loved Gavin’s music – he’s been a favorite of mine for a long time. Gavin also owns or runs a club in NYC which he opens up exclusively for new talent to perform – it’s a wonderful gesture and is great exposure for the unknowns.
When I got tickets for David in Albany and additionally got to see Gavin there, what a great additional bonus! I also immediately believed that if David cannot do a solo tour, backing up for Gavin would be a perfect combination. Plus, I think that Gavin’s fans would be open to a lot of David’s music and become new fans.
Rascal – I played O Holy Night for my sister, who I always felt has great knowledge of real musical talent. She has always loved David’s music but was totally blown away by that particular performance. What she said was that the one thing that David has that sets him above all other performers is that he sings directly from the heart She said that his singing is so intimate that you know totally who he is when he performs.
Chenson, #17, that is so cool. (I love your sporadic Always Archuleta blog posts, btw, but have always had “issues” (as David would say) posting there).
GranFan#22, wow, what a challenge. The only one-word description I can think of is “miracle”!
Jackryan4DA – Thanks. I saw the videos of the Albany show too and loved Gavin’s playful banter about David. Gavin has great charm and wit in addition to his amazing talent. I was wondering how they decide placement for shows. The Albany show was small compared to the other Jingle “thingys”, so is that why David got to have the pimp spot? At the Atlanta show, Gavin was the headliner. Yet from the descriptions of the Atlanta show, it sounded like David had the biggest cheers and was supposedly the main draw for that show. Of course, I only read about all this on DA fansites, so they may be biased.
And I agree w/some other folks that they are a good pairing for musical style and potential fan crossover.
Hey guys, delurking too.
Some of you might know me from IDF, Snarchies and/or FOD, haha (haven’t been on the chats there for a while though) or in Chenson’s case even in real life, haha.
Anyway, I was in Albany, and had the extreme pleasure of seeing both Gavin and David perform live right in front of my nose (literally). As some if not all of you surely know, Gavin had a blast randomly calling out David’s name and getting a reaction (aka loud screaming) out of the fans in response. So, during his set I quickly scribbled a sign (not easy, being squished against the barrier in front of me, with my legs in a 45° angle to my upper body, one arm trapped behind someone next to me, the other hanging over the barrier LOL Ouch!) that said “Gavin, sing a duet with David! Please? We love you!” – he saw it and grinned. After his performance (while stagehands quickly removed his ubercool travelling piano and set the stage up for David & The Dang-Its, haha) he came over to us fans and signed things and shook hands etc. (so nice!). My friend and I asked him if we’d get to see him sing with David and he smiled and replied, very sincerely: “Oh! I’d love to work with him! He’s awesome!” to which we replied: “Go ask him then! Ask him now!” haha and he said “I really should!” and laughed. It was great. He also said something very nice about Jeff Archuleta being an amazing guy.
I also saw that Gavin’s guitarist Casey Twist left a comment on David’s myspace: “Hey brother, thanks for the add. I guess I’ll see you tonight.” Haha! Some real bonding going on with the Degraw-Clan there, eh? lol.
Also, the band “Almost Kings” from Atlanta left a comment, calling David their “brother”, too. Seems to me he is really winning people over left and right, and his fellow musicians really like and respect him.
For some reason that makes me feel very proud of him!
Anyway, just thought I’d share, haha!
*goes back to lurkedom*
GranFan post 22
one word>resonant
#26 trahnc – as far as I know, Gavin was set to be the headliner for Albany, but the radio station switched it around so David would go last because they realized 95% of the people there were there to see David (and sadly might have left after his set, if he had been placed before Gavin). At least that’s what they told us at the venue.
chickee~hi….hopefully you are safe at home..the roads and drivers are getting a bit crazy…gotta love the snow…
GranFan #22 “straight-to-the-heart-send-me-over-the-edge-sing-it-again-please gorgeous.” That is great – love it!
I think David will become more comfortable with his on stage banter once he gets over his feelings of awe concerning all that has happened with him this year. Audiences are responding to him in ways that only the most popular, seasoned, performers of all time have experienced, leaving David feeling “unworthy” to enagage in any casual banter, lest he appear ungrateful or, it sounds silly to say, arrogant.
David is reaching the highest levels of popularity at a dizzying pace. He appears to be keeping up with that pace well, but to be too “schmoozy” with the audience who put him there at this early stage could be misinterpreted. One of David’s most appealing qualities
is his believable humility about all that is going on. Now is not the time for him to abandon that quality in the name of “stage presence.”
Of course, David has incredible stage presence, but it has nothing to do with ease of banter with the audience. His stage presence is in the unconditional love and acceptance of everything about him, including his awkwardness, that the audience developed during American idol and has moved seamlessly into the post AI -era. It’s as if the entire audience is made up of of “kvelling” (pardon my Yiddish) relatives who are “busting” at the very sight of him on stage. The fact that he delivers one great performance after another only reinforces that devotion, and recruits more devotees. This is what will propel David to mega stardom on a world wide level. . The one time he faltered on AI (we all know when), he came back immediately with an historic performance of “Long and Winding Road”. Those who doubted the extent and depth of his talent were reassured that the week before was an aberration. David flicked away the misstep, made in front of 30 million viewers, with a “that’s life” shrug. When Tiger Woods misses a putt, does that undermine his confidence for the next putt? I think not. That’s how David appeared the next week on American Idol, and he hasn’t stopped growing and expanding since.
Balancing humility and confidence can be tricky. David’s doing a good job of it so far. For a young guy who has never been about himself to be told how great he is by everyone he meets every day, and have websites like this, and fans like me, writing about everything about him, David has remained very true to his original values and view of himself. It will be quite interesting to see how that manifests in the coming months when he has his own tour, and is the absolute center of attention and adoration.
Kvelling relatives! Ohmygoshashley that’s so true. Nicely said — and great post, Iamblisskasden.
Hi dj, yeah, I’m safe, my daughter is still out there though, can u believe that, shopping at Walmart! they let people out early, and do ‘ya think she’d come home??? Nooooo, she goes shopping “on the way home.” ai yai yai, these kids, they’re too fearless for their own good. so how much of the white stuff do you think we’ll end up getting? wow, but it’s so pretty though! I’m sitting here at the kitchen table, taking a break from wrapping, just watchin’ the snow falling. My husband is watching his usual war movie, (God help us), or the History channel, or whatever it is, my son is driving me nuts, and who knows when my other child will be home, in a blizzard, no less. well, back to wrapping, ttyl…….
#24 ninaf, I think what your sister said after hearing David’s performance of “O Holy Night” rings so true – that “his singing is so intimate that you know totally who he is when he performs.” (That may be part of the reason some people seem to be so threatened by him.)
#32 blisskasden, I think your assessment is right on target: “One of David’s most appealing qualities is his believable humility about all that is going on. Now is not the time for him to abandon that quality in the name of ‘stage presence.’”
chickee~OK after THAT post~#34-I am starting to think you are me or is it I am you..you have no idea what you just said ..OMG..AND, Yes I know that was nowhere NEAR anything remotely ENGLISH..but OMG…except for the shopping daughter because that is something I would do..I do not mind driving in the snow and am used to throwing in a quick stop here and there just to get it done….I actually have stopped at ..guess where ..yes Walmart at 11:50PM to pick up something quickly..haha..no kidding..and mine closes at midnight!!
and that would explain driving to Albany on a school night just to see the almighty VOICE…would do it again in a heartbeat..!!
Lambblisskasden – #32 – Loved your post. Along the same lines of “kvelling ” another word that would sum up all that is David is “mensch.” I always wanted to use Yiddish words to describe David but I didn’t know if anyone would understand them because they do not translate well. Thanks for bringing the Yiddish here.
chickee~ I think we are going to get @ 5-6 inches of MESS..I would rather have a foot ot snow than the mix I am seeing right now, hopefully it will change over to all snow..it is rather slick right now…I am starting to sound like a weathergirl..yikes!…..David’s Christmas songs made the crazies out there on the road a bit easier to deal with though,I must say…His soothing spirit comes through with every note and diminishes all thoughts to start saying bad things about THOSE drivers……I just keep crankin’ the volume….thank you Mr.Archuleta..!!
djb and chickee . . where do you guys live where it is snowing so bad?
Mamasaun – I think it’s snowing all over the Northeast. I live in NYC and the snow is coming down pretty hard here.
ninaf – I live in Utah and it’s a blizzard here . . that’s why I asked. Guess it’s probably snowing on David too . . that is if he’s in Utah now . .
dj, you ARE fearless, I actually don’t mind driving in the snow that much, but NO plows here yet, sheesh!!
mamasaun, I’m in CT. DJ you must be south of me if you’re getting that slushy MESS. I”m with you, I’d rather have snow that that sleety slushy MESS. Yeah, keep on crankin’ that voice of a thousand adjectives, right GranFan? There is no justice in the american dictionary for The Voice…
chickee ~actually i am actually a bit north of you….It is actually all snow now but I like the fluffy stuff from the start…anyways..did you say ADJECTIVES!..yeah thats exactly what I was trying to avoid when addressing my fellow drivers..haha..actually I am not that bad at all..I just find myself saying ” Seriously People??” quite a bit..must be the NYer in me, but i did pack some snacks and umm..reading material just in case I got stuck!..that is the Girl Scout in me~be prepared~.too bad I am such a good snow driver !! Good music and good reading material Works For Me…
Random weather update: Refnaf has dubbed what we have up here in southern Ontario right now “snowmaggeddon” ….
Hi Anniefromthe EU #27! (I always enjoy your posts on Snarkies.) That’s interesting about Albany. It explains why a staffer came outside before the show, checked out the looooong line, called out each performer’s name and seemed to be gauging the reaction. (Of course there was no contest!)
mamasaun #41~ thanks for the visual~ David out and about at home with the snowflakes falling all around~Beautiful~
Rascal, it’s that exquisite authenticity (especially in his soulful r’n'b riffs that just flow “like buttah”, baby) that disintegrate all the bone and cartilage in my body. I mean, there’s the authenticity we refer to regarding his persona. 100% authentic. No pretense. We could write a encyclopedia on THAT (er, well actually I believe we’re doing that on an ongoing basis.) And there is also the musical authenticity. 1000% authentic. And the combo…as we all know… is lethal. LETHAL I tell ya.
David’s musical prowess is so multi-faceted, but I can’t think about his authentic dee-troit vibe without re-telling (apologies) a fave moment after I played David’s Fox SLC WOTWTC for my sister (a singer/musician herself) — it was her first time hearing him, and she just says “Man, it’s like he’s chanelling Marvin Gaye or something…” lol. That made me so happy. She SO hit the nail on the head! It’s the cha-RUTH. The boy can disintegrate my backbone *zap* just like that! History! I never tire of reveling in the fact that musicians DIG David Archuleta! (Because of course, they know the *Real Deal* when they encounter it. Sho nuff.)
This performance — simple as it is — was in the morning (not his fave), and I believe it’s accurate that he also overslept and was even late for this date, no less — and it was smack dab in the middle of the grueling AI concert tour … AND he had allergies…lol. AND YET he manages to pull THIS out of his hat! This performance destroys me bone by bone… EVERY SINGLE TIME… by the end… *thud*poof*. There’s so much musical authenticity in this simple, SIMPLE snippet… it just… gah… it just never fails to blow me away. There are simply no empty calories to be found in it. 100% nutritious. Understated yet brilliant. Naked innate soulfulness. Did I say *sho nuff*? :p :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kmj1S7pZYSc&feature=channel_page
(wish I could find a better quality vid of this — I’d dip it in bronze and put on the mantle.)
His “Crazy” performances from the same day also slay me, and I get a heaping helping of “it” in “Works For Me” too… Some of those WFM performance vids are positively HAZMAT. Oh how happy they make me. (heh. O.D.D. is so… *odd*l)
Whoa! Bravo, lamblisskasen! (#32)
ninaf, your avi makes me happy.
it’s easy to slip up on those “adjectives” when driving in a snowstorm dj, i hear ‘ya. um, I wonder what that reading material was, hahaha. I am glad you were prepared. and a smart girl you are with such awesome reading material. lol……ok then, love these Kodak moments when snowbound with the family. My husband has now “progressed” from war movies, to the Golf Channel, and lamenting the loss of his clubs for the winter. Hmm, I think it’s going to be a lllong winter.
And I think my neighbor has had one too many merlots, or margueritas, or whatever, I can see him dancing like a wildman in his family room, hello……..pull your drapes closed……ok then, we are freakin’ out here in the Northeast. all cooped up all day, yikes……….
Beebee #46, I am so with you on that SLC WOTWTC, I still listen to it (and Crazy) all the time… it TAKES me places, don’t know how else to put it.
GranFran #22~
“straight-to-the-heart-send-me-over-the-edge-sing-it-again-please gorgeous.” … YUP. ..THAT about sums it up!…
OMG, now I just saw a wicked flash of lightening, what in the world?? it’s flippin’ cold out there, LIGHTENING? now thunder? during a blizzard? ok, that’s a first….scary stuff
Amen, TOfan! Wherever that is… I go there frequently myself. ArchuSoul Bliss Ninny HEAVEN? (See you there!)

chickee~ ROFL~thank you , I needed that!..maybe you neighbor just watched some David videos of Works For Me or maybe Guitar Hero!…..or maybe it is just some bad merlot…..go ahead chickee..go by the window and dance like a wildwomen..and give him a quick wink when he looks over at you ..hahahaha..ROFLMAO….
beebee, TOfan, All three of those Utah TV studio performances from July – WOTWTC, Crazy, and Heaven – are way too good!
LIGHTNING???….running to find children……
whoa, chickee… I swear I’ve seen that once or twice down south (VA), but kinda thought it was because of the relatively warm temp and high humidity, and proximity to Chesapeake bay..blahblah… like I know anything about meteorology…)
Anyhoo, I just queried it at answers(dot)com and the ONLY thing it said under “What is the meaning when there is thunder during a snow storm?” is this: –> “A: rare, shocky.” (I didn’t make that up…lol… gotta love it.) So there ya go! Mystery illuminated. (sheesh)
(hm… maybe higher forces were editorializing on your neighbor’s… er.. exuberance… shall we say?)
I suggest you pour yourSELF some merlot.
LIke in War of the Worlds dj? woah, yeah, really scary.
Uh, oh, the neighbor, he just closed his drapes. Why?? he was sooo entertaining.
hahahaha… chickee… you gotta get him to listen to “Let Me Go” … WITH DRAPES OPEN… how can you make that happen? (::::Lucy and Ethel flashbacks::::)
beebee, yeah, those scorching temps. down south combined with humidity would do me in more than the cold, I think, ahhhhhhhh these warm, cozy Kodak moments, if I see or hear another birdie putt, eagle shot, or “oh no” bunker comment, I’m gonna scream. It’s time for David and my headphones….
beebee, i am now ROTFL…omg
If anyone’s been reluctant to pay out for front-row seats at a David concert, this video might convert ‘em.
Warning: may need paddles!

::::scheming:::::
OK… FIRST…build a *cute* little snow man in front of neighbor’s living room window…THENNN…make nice xmas gift basket with DA CD… merlot… and nutterbutters, yeah…and a note that says “see your holiday greeting through your living room window”
Yeah, yeah, that’s the ticket…
THENNNN… tromp over to neighbor’s with basket… put on doorstep… ring bell and RUNNN… (it’s a plan that needs tweaking I can see this now…) lol
YEA! It’s 4pm on a Friday afternoon and time for our “Happy Hour”. The sun is shining, the temp is 60 degrees, the beer is cold, the tequila is flowing, and I made it through my day after being home 3 days with a cold. Today’s activity is to listen to old 33rpm records that people have dug up. OMG, John Travolta, Ricky Nelson, Bing Crosby, the Monkees, The Bay City Rollers, I’m dying here.
Everytime a become nostalgic for the past I just focus on my David and think how great it is that I have survived long enough to witness the birth of a real music legend. And the nice thing is, I know I won’t be dissapointed. Have a nice day and enjoy the SNOW!
Thank goodness for soothing David music. My daughter was hit by a snowplow today and Adam was with her. They are fine (he slept through it) but she is an emotional wreck. The what if’s are plaguing her. And her only car is totalled.
This snow is horrible. (a foot already)
Somebody make me laugh. They ARE okay.
whoa, ronald that pretty much finished me off!
beebee, ok I will do that, but I will also include a note that will reference the video ronaldSF just told us to watch.
Thanks Ron, that was awesome. I think I could make another convert out of my neighbor with that one!!! beebee you are too much.
chickee~ I’ll be over in 10 oh and I will be bringing the GOOD Merlot !!..SNOW??..WHAT SNOW??..
ohhh betsey, noooooo. Thank God they are ok.
betsy! oh that must have been terrifying for everyone! thank goodness everyone is ok!
actually, for me having a near-death experience was perhaps the best way to learn to be extra-extra careful. it’s traumatizing at the time, but it’s better than losing everything after never having had the chance to learn that lesson. i hope everything goes well!
beebee #46 – You are a HOOT!! Your postings totally crack me up!
Thanks for the site for SLC WOTWTC. As closely as I follow David’s every public appearance, I cannot believe this is the first time I’ve seen this performance.
Look what I might have missed forever if not for you!
Good Lord, he is so FREAKIN AWESOME!!
(goes back to watch for the umpteenth time…)
{{Betsey}} aww.
Thank God everybody’s ok. That’s the main thing.
ronaldsf #61, are you seriously trying to kill me?????
(I take it all back, I’d brave Northern Lights mosh pit madness again in a second!!)
Betsy #64, yikes, snowplows are deadly, thank goodness they’re okay.
OK RSF !!!…..that was NOT fair..MAY need paddles..??…oh and he would not have to reach quite so for as I will be leaping off of those shoulders of yours….excatly how tall are you? I need to practice!!..OK WHEN IS THAT SOLO TOUR??…seriously, that needed a much bigger warning………….THUD…………
Not to dwell on this but…the guy driving it was plowing out a parking lot and flew into the road. She said he saw her too late and tried to stop but couldn’t in time.
Sorry sorry sorry for my INADEQUATE warning, y’all!! LOL
djb, I’m 5’8″, but I’d have to practice you jumping off of me as well. It takes two to touch David’s hand.
betsey, Adam is just THE most adorable baby ever! I love being a part of his growing up, and look forward to the new pics.
DJ, now you’re going to have to fight me for Ronald’s shoulders. Ron, are u happy that finals are over?
Soooo glad to know that your daughter and beautiful grandson are okay. That plow guy should lose his license.
My beloved sister was killed on a highway in Denver almost 18 years ago by an out of control truck who was speeding in a snow storm. To this day, I seldom venture out until the roads are cleared.
Everyone stay safe.
Chickee, finals are not over yet, unfortunately. I have to do 2 twenty page papers over the break.
My goal is to get them out of the way by New Years, though.
Thanks for all your kind words. I know how truly lucky we are.
ronaldsf – good luck with your papers.
I may need several videos and numerous photos tonight!
Watching “It’s a wonderful life” later may be the ticket.
Ron, put David’s music on and you will get those papers done in half the time. I’ll be thinking of you.
Betsy, you never get tired of that movie, do you? a classic, all the way. Put Adam in your lap while watching, it doesn’t get much better.
Betsey, I’m so glad everybody’s ok… and “It’s a Wonderful Life” will be perfect. (Oh, and you hafta read, or re-read the David and Guillermo version of “It’s a Wonderful Life” over at snarkies, too. lol… it’ll make you laugh.)
Zoe, so sorry about your beloved sister. {{hug}} It never really heals. On a happier note, I am so happy to have led you to that sublime little performance. Yay. Spread it around.
ronald – thanks for the link. I just watched and was smiling the whole time.
Talk about up close and personal! And that smile!
I watched twicw already.
beebee- I know I’ve seen that video before but it needed another look. It was so great and sooooo soulful! There was even a *hunkerdown* at around the 2:04 mark!
This is helping!
BTW – my daughter lives 200 miles away. Can’t cuddle with her or the baby tonight. I can send positive vibes and I am. So hard.
ahhh, the healing power of the hunkerdown … lol
here’s the link to where the “Gosh, It’s a Wonderful Life” (starring David and Guillermo) story is … you hafta scroll down just a little bit.
http://www.snarkyarchies.com/2008/12/happy-christmas-contest-semi-finalists.html
Gotta scoot now! My spirits needed lifting, and you all (with David) did the trick. Thank you!
betsy .oh my!..how scary for all..so glad to hear everyone is OK…{{HUGS}} to you……
….now go back again for another “hunkerdown” and repeat ..repeat..repeat…OK …breath..breath..breath….. better??maybe just a little bit??…Just keep looking at that beautiful Adam’s picture…he is safe and sound…..
Ronaldsf~~5″8″ PURRfect…I won’t have far to jump and ..and hey..if there is any Merlot involved..well..OK I won’t go there….anyways yes, it takes two to reach his hand BUT..only one will touch it !!! and since I will be the one flying through the air towards the stage I guess that would be ..umm…ME !!…we must practice..finish those papers QUICKLY!!…
chickee~#77~~~ahh chickee.. I am not a fighter, you know that…..and Oh yeah we had some lightning as well and now at least a foot of the white stuff …yippie..pass the Merlot and some chocolate….what is your neighbor up to now??LOOK we made you a peeping`chickee..LOL
I just talked to my daughter and she is good now. Our box of gifts arrived tonight and she opened every one already! Was eating the candy as well and contemplating a bubble bath.
That reminds me, The Archuletas were getting their gift basket today!!! I bet they are chewing as we speak.
Yay!!
betsy~ that is great news!..so good to hear….
I am feeling the love tonight! No stopping it.
All I need are my online friends, David’s healing voice and spirit, my phone to call my baby, and my all too yummy bag of hershey kisses!
Yippee!
djb #86, now I’m starting to feel I need some hand touchage too…
Maybe we can both throw each other on the stage! Is that even possible?! Must finish these papers FAST!
rsf~ now theres a visual…just hang onto my feet as I sail towards the stage..I hope he has strong arms..LOL..TYPE..TYPE ..TYPE..
betsy – thank God your daughter and precious grandbaby, Adam, are okay. I love looking at his picture – he is adorable!
The weather here was horrible all day – sleet, snow and then back to sleet, ugh! I was relieved when I talked to my son and knew he was safely home from work. He lives 90 miles north of here and they had more snow.
Rascal, thanks for your comment. After all, this is your site (and the best one devoted to David, I might add), so, until I write something that makes you question my sanity and/ or my intelligence, I will enjoy the moment.
Ninaf, somebody had to bring Yiddish to this board, so i guess it’s me (LOL). It’s true that Yiddish is hard to translate into English, but a lot of what makes David so special is that he is also hard to define in mere words. We’ve all tried to “describe” David to people who did not watch him on AI. When people ask me “What’s so special about him?”, I find that it’s very hard to do, and I wind up referring them to You Tube to watch some videos. David truly is a force of nature. To use terms like
“great singer”, “nice person”,” or “handsome young guy” does not come close. David must be “felt” on a deep emotional level, and , frankly, a lot of people either can’t or won’t “go there”. That is why there is an incomprehensible backlash against him. David is not like other people, even though he looks like “one of us” and, on the surface, seems “typical”. In fact, David is a complete original. In my 50+ years, I’ve never seen anyone like him. I’ve worked in the mental health field for decades, and thought I had seen it all; the good , the bad, and the ugly. Never have I enountered a person who people from all walks of life are so drawn to for all the right reasons, and experience withdrawal when there isn’t anything new to report. The rest of the world seems mundane compared to whatever David is up to that day. We are all hooked on the good feeling we have when we are listening, watching or just thinking about this special guy. It’s quite a phenomenon, which may be studied and analyzed sometime in the future. In the meantime, it’s like Woodstock, without the LSD and lack of bathrooms.
We love him because David refills our hearts with the joy and hope that life sometimes drains out of us.
hey dj, how are things? We got a foot also. it’s slowing down now quite a bit, just flurries. That darn neighbor still has his drapes closed; eh, he couldn’t dance anyway.
that is quite a visual, would love to see that one, what we wouldn’t do for David. where is happy tonight?
bliss #94, this is one of my favorite comments of yours!!
… withdrawal when there isn’t anything new to report. The rest of the world seems mundane compared to whatever David is up to that day. LOL and so true! What a dead-on analogy! And David himself would avoid drugs and see to it that his fans are all taken care of (like not getting smashed in the front row, or making sure there are adequate sanitary facilities)! And David with his frequent peace signs and feel-good vibes give me a groovy feeling!
chickee~yeah he makes us get a bit silly at times…..It is still snowing here..but at this point what difference does it make as long as it stops tonight..and we keep our electricity..
Just checking in…. and I know your well written comments Bliss 94, about David were not meant to be funny- but I did laugh at this one-David is not like other people, even though he looks like “one of us”-made me think of an alien enounter….which reminded me of that article a few months back where they said David was not born but was beamed directly down from heaven,,,( paraphrasing here)….At any rate- when he was beamed down, alot of us in tune with “what ever” it is he has…. were zonked ( not very fancy but at this time of night- all I can think of to say)
Good evening all! It’s lovely to ‘see’ you again. I can truly hear the warm sounds of a lovely group gathered talking, laughing, sharing stories . . . that’s the way it always seems when I stop in here.
NOTICE:
I also came to mention that Amy at Snarkyarchies has invited all to write a Christmas greeting to any or all the Archuleta family. For those that still have something to say, here is your chance. She says they will definitely see it, but she only gives us 4 hours! So hurry on over and spread the love!
Oh, and Ronaldsf/#71 – I know I will be thinking of that video as I drift of to sleep tonight (with a goofy smile on my face.) What a great find! Thank you so much for sharing it!
David was just on VH! yeah …now!!!
#23 top video of 2008 !! YEAH !!
dj, i just tuned into VH1 just in time to see that!! Leona Lewis is #22. WOW!! awesome.
What a year he has had.So happy for him..Maybe he can relax a bit now with his family and friends…
Annie #27 Thanks for all those tidbits of information. It makes me proud too to hear that other musicians are liking and respecting David.
Please stay “unlurked” …
Did everyone else read about this?
Fox is replaying the entire seventh season of AI beginning 1-01-09 for about a week or so.
They are calling it the 12 days of idol. UGHH what a name. But, more David to look forward too!
#27 Annie! Great information…good investigative skills-yes makes me proud too when other artists respect our number one artist.
all this snow has made me sleepy~~
g’nite Chickee..I am glad you are back.. I have missed you
~sweet dreams all~
night dj, sweet dreams………lots of fun today. thanks
Bliss#32, you have a way of “getting” David and having such a strong clear vision on how and where he will go. Good stuff!
Rascal, apart from my fond memory of seeing David in Albany last week (was it just last week?) was the lovely set Gavin McGraw offered just before David came on. They are truly compatible performers.
(Recuperating from a terrible sickness since yesterday, folks, wish I could discuss further, but I will remain in lurker mode for a while. And here I thought I was just suffering from David Withdrawal Blues.)
Oh, I forgot to tell AnniefromtheEU #27: Herzlich Willkommen!
Come and post here more often. ND is über-cool!
And good night and sweet dreams to everyone!
HG..I’m not sick, I really am going through a blue spell. I knew I would, but this time, it’s a little worse! I should be happy, and I am, but at the same time wondering if & when I will ever again be fortunate enough to see and perhaps talk with David again!
I’ve been in lurker mode as well, but needed to log on to say good nite to all, and for David, wherever he may be,
Dear Lord, Though we are unworthy to ask,
Please take Care Of David. Watch over him, Protect him from all harm. Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path. Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give. Surround David with loving and supportive people who love him UNCONDITIONALLY as we, his ARCHANGELS do. Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his wellbeing. Give him rest when he’s weary. Give him the stamina to sustain his hectic pace. Give him assurance when he feels doubt. Give him joy when he feels sad. Cloak him always in your protective arms. Keep David healthy & strong as he fulfills his Destiny which was written in his Book of Life before he was born.
This, though we may be unworthy, humbly pray,
Amen.
Sweet dreams David, be safe & secure in our love always! Take care. You will always be numero uno in our eyes! Thank you for all you do and for just being you!
CONTIGO SIEMPRE CON AMOR!
((((SF)))) AMEN!! And g’nite!
Just stopped by before calling it a night and came across Bliss #94, “it’s like Woodstock, without the LSD and lack of bathrooms.” ROTFL, great post, thanks!
SF & HG, hang in there and feel better!! Betsy, good to hear all is well and thanks for the info about the AI repeats … it’ll be so strange to go back but, as with all things David-related, don’t think I can tear myself away!
Hah! I was posting a message and my browser kept on hanging on ND… i missed the party.
Anw, I just wanted to say BLISS – love your post! You get David big time! Glad your posting more often now.
CHIKEE – Glad to know you & your family are all fine. Weird how snow can be both alluring and deadly… that suddenly reminds me of someone Haha!
TESS – thanks for your post #52
RONALDSF – We should probably come up with some WARNING LEGENDS around here? LOL Like Level 1 to mean “will make you smile and giddy”; Level 3 = Thud or Level 5 – ovary shattering performance — I know you guys who have met him actually could come up with the more apt description
BTW, I am uploading HQ versions of the Beanie Interview (32MB) and ALTNOY (54.7MB) if anyone is interested?
Just to have a better appreciation of the beanie look (HAPPY, yes stop hyperventilating, i know!), I recommend downloading it. I’ll post the link as soon as it is done uploading.
Am just ambivalent about posting the ALTNOY vid cos it will be made available in iTunes sometime soon right? Whadyathink?
Has anyone heard from SF?
David’s latest blog!!
Looks like he’ll finally get some rest! And there’s an aww moment too
Jingle Ball wrap up
Hey All! I hope everyone’s having a fun time during the holiday season. I did the last few Jingle Ball shows this week, and it was such a blast! Sunday was Philly/South Jersey for Q102, and I was stoked because I got to run out and take a picture of a few things before I had to get ready and leave for the show. I got to see things like the first U.S. library and the Liberty Bell which was way cool. Then on Monday we went to Minnesota for KDWB, and it was the first time I got to see T.I. perform. It was soooo cold! I think it was like -27 with the windchill or something. It was fun though, because in downtown Minneapolis they have indoor walkways that go from building to building with shops all over. That way you don’t have to cross the street in the freezing cold haha. On Tuesday we went to Chicago for the B96 show, and it was really cold there too. It was my last show with my buddy Shontelle, who’s just a really cool girl haha. It was fun doing a lot of shows with her. After the soundcheck in Chicago, I had to go back to the hotel to get some stuff, and normally it takes like… 10 minutes to get there… But with how bad it was snowing and all of the traffic, it took us over an hour to get there. It was pretty painful lol. But luckily I made it in time to do the meet n greets and be prepared for the show. Wednesday in Atlanta for Star 94 was the last show for me, and it was sooooo much fun. I had a really great time, and during my set after I sang A Thousand Miles, the band and crew surprised me with a birthday cake since it was the last time I’d see them before my birthday. The crowd sang happy birthday and I tried to blow out the candles, but they kept lighting back up because they were trick candles haha. It was really cool of them to do that for me though, so thanks you guys! It was so awesome working with them on all of these shows. I felt really privileged to get to work with all of them who were really easy to get along with. My family in Atlanta got to come to the show too, and it was GREAT to see them again! I brought my cousin backstage to meet everyone, and she was really shy haha. Rehab, We the Kings, Colbie Caillat, and Gavin Degraw were all performers, and she got to meet all of them besides Rehab. It was a really cool laid back group of people, so it was a really enjoyable smooth show. Shawn Johnson, the olympic gold medal gymnast, was at the show too. So we got to meet her and she was really cool. During Gavin Degraw’s set while he was singing I Don’t Wanna Be (Which I love by the way) he called Colbie to go up and sing with him when she was standing on the side watching. So she went up and it was awesome! I loved it haha. Oh and another person who got to come to the show was Alexandrea Lushington from top 24! She left before I got to say hi, but I’m really glad she was able to come. So this week has been fun, and now it’s time to relax and spend time with the fam for the holidays. I’m not sure where we’re going to go quite yet, but we’re probably going to go somewhere that isn’t snowing haha. I love looking at the snow, but it’s no fun when you don’t have heat in your house. Oh and another thing. I have this drawer in my room where I keep a lot of memories in, like tickets, cd’s, papers, letters, etc.. and I open it up to put some more stuff… When I open it, all my papers are chewed up and there’s a nest mice made from all of my memories! I tried saving as much as I could, but there was a lot of damage done and I had to throw a lot away
. But it’s ok because it was an excuse to clean up haha. So now I’ve been decluttering my room, which is taking forever because more things keep coming into it. I still haven’t gotten a lot of the boxes that I sent home during the Jingle shows, and most of the stuff from tour is in boxes elsewhere. So my room is pretty much uninhabitable. But I’ll hurry and clear things up before we leave. But anyway.. I apologize for my disorganized rambling that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. But I’m going to a Christmas party now, so I hope everyone has a good week! If you have any fun stories let me know about ‘em! Adios.
Song for the day: Snow – Amie Miriello
This is one of my favorite songs of the year. I thought it’d be appropriate as I now wipe the windshield filled with snow haha.
I meant “you’re”, not “your” on my msg to BLISS above… tsk… tsk.. tsk…
WoW!!! Rascal, you and lamblisskasden are like the Jedi Masters of Words:) I love coming here to see what you and everyone else is going to say next. Sad to say I never post enough so I always manage to loose my password:( I believe this is my 5 password so far. They are going to get sick of me and just ban me all together.
♥PALM TO HEART♥
oppse sorry:) lose my password
Americanidol17 of IDF wrote this about David’s blog which was so true:
Awww…Dang it, I’ve got to meet him someday, if it’s the last thing I do. And I’ll tell him all about winters in the Midwest– he ain’t seen nothin’ yet…So he’s spending time with the “fam”. It’s about time he took a break. And the mouse nest?? LOL He’s just crazy. He presents at the AMAs, sings on Leno and with all these big names, guest stars on iCarly, interviews with Ellen….and what does he tell us about? A mouse nest in his bedroom. Oh, David.
I’m trying to picture his room with all his gifts from the tour, all the gifts from the radio shows and CD signings and from the Jingles. Yikes! Uninhabitable indeed!
It’s just sad that his one special drawer with his memories is the one that the mice chose! A nest made of David memories!
ronaldsf THANKS for posting David’s blog and the way too cute comment from Americanidol17 (IDF). David just shares with his fans doesn’t he!
Oh David – he still doesn’t get it eh? Even if you just read and not even sing the phonebook, you have our eyes and ears! SIGH.
I have a David story. YEAH! am on the other side of the globe and I have a David story!
Christmas Season is big time here in the Philippines so around this time, traffic is super mega horrendous. Yesterday it took me 3 HOURS to get to the office. To give you some perspective, w/ normal traffic flow, that should be just 1 to 1.5 hours, tops. If I drive late at night or at dawn, meaning the highway is clear, it takes me just 12-15 minutes. See, what I mean?
Anw, while approaching a bridge, found 3 trucks parked along the highway, practically hugging 1 lane. No wonder the traffic! Ill-tempered by now, I maneuvered the car, saw an opening to overtake the buses and trucks and whatdyaknow! Got thorugh!
Then BAM! a policeman was flagging me! So I pulled by the side and waited my Fate. I also noticed that 4 SUVs followed me and they were likewise caught.
So, while waiting for the officer to approach and preparing my “speech”, who should come out from the radio?
“Saw you from a distance…. ” I had I hard time composing myself before the officer reached me cos I was LMAO with the whole scene!
So I told myself, OK, OK, got the message, David. Control your temper JR… talk nicely to Mr. Policeman… which I did.
And it worked! I didn’t get a ticket. Whew!
I did get a sermon though but had to laugh when the officer said, “Look at what you made them do!” referring to the 4 SUVs parked behind me (a-hahahahahahah). Shaking his head while muttering something like I was too small to be the ring leader! Haha. Before I sped off, I greeted him Happy Holidays with the best smile I could muster
Thank you David for saving my day!
LIZ – am not surprised the mice chose his drawer… those mementos probably have enuff traces of nutter butter in them!
You don’t think the mouse was the same he saw in his hotel room? Remember he had another blog where he randomly segued into commenting ‘there’s a mouse in here’? NAAHHH!
FYI …Oprah is giving free downloads of holiday songs for 48 hrs on her website. Singers incl. Josh Groban, Aretha Franklin, Tony Bennett, etc. http://www.oprah.com
I’m adding them to my David Archuleta Holiday collection. It’s fun comparing his vocals to some of the legends.
jackryan4DA 122, after reading your story, i’ll never complain about traffic jams again. Lucky you – no ticket.
As a child of the ’60s, I was thinking how much David would have loved that time, especially the music. I can picture David listening to the Moody Blues, Buffalo Springfield, Cream, Procol Harem and all the other supergroups of the late ’60s. He would also have loved the great Motown sound. One of the earliest Motown hits, “Shop Around” by The Miracles, was , of course, David’s debut performance on AI, and boy did he nail that one. From that night on, AI7 was the David Archuleta Show, with the other contestants forming the supporting cast.
It was a dynamic time to grow up, and the music reflected the changes that were taking place, seemingly on a daily basis. The fact that David has embraced the music of that era, has so much respect for the songs and the original artists, and performs them with such integrity, makes me love and respect him more than I can say. He knew when these songs were popular and, like me, loves historic top 40 charts from the past.
I would love for David to do an “oldies” CD of some of the great ballads of the ’50s and ’60s. Here are just a few of the ones that I think David would revive as only he can:
1) “Since I Fell For You” by Lenny Welch
“You Send Me” by Sam Cooke
2) “Cryng” by Roy Orbison
3) “Moon River” by Andy Williams
4) “In the Still of the Night” by the Five Satins
5) “Tonight, Tonight by The Mello Kings
6) ” A Whiter Shade of Pale” by Procol Harem
7) “Here, There and Everywhere” by The Beatles
9) “Crying in the Chapel” by Elvis
10)” Go Away Little Girl” by Steve Lawrence
Just a few off the top of my head. What are some of yours?
How did that smiley face replace the # 8 on my list??
Iamblisskasden 127, if you typed in “8)” or “8-)” without the quotations, it will give you the smiley.
See http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Smilies just in case you ever want to intentionally use a smilie.
Interesting list … A Whiter Shade of Pale is one of my all time favorites.
jackryan4DA, what a great story! I remember how terrible the “trapik” was when I was in Manila 4 years ago. I assume people are still banned from driving on certain days of the week depending on their license plates?
bliss, as you perhaps guessed from my music preferences when I was a teen, I kind of was a “child of the 60s” without being alive at the time! I only know some of the songs you listed. “Moon River” is one of my favorites!!
I personally would love for David to take on a whole number of songs from Stevie Wonder!
Late to the party, but happy to be here! I think an Archuleta/DeGraw concert would work just fine! I hope David’s management reads Rascal’s blog and considers the obvious when they see the picture Rascal posted.
Ronald…Thanks for posting David’s myspace blog. I’m not surprised that he’s liking Gavin’s music. Another song by Gavin’s that’s good is “Follow Through”.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBfbnjjjdKw
Betsy Thanks for the info on Fox re-running Season 7 of AI. I was hoping for this! Does anyone know if they always run the previous season or if is this a new thing or a one time thing?
ebonyangel #124…One day David Archuleta will be part of that list, for sure.
Lamb I’m enjoying all of your posts and your Yiddish references. Keep em coming…please!
I’m sure most of you saw this interview by now because it’s been posted in other places but I don’t think it was officially posted here so for those of you who missed it, it’s worth the keystroke. It’s David being interviewed backstage at the Chicago Jingle thingy. Noteworthy is how David turned the tables once again (a la Kathy Griffin interview) on Showbiz Shelly. Very cute and flirty. Yes, our David does flirty rather well!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kIrvNsFAac&eurl=http://www.snarkyarchies.com/
Love this picture of our David with Gavin Degraw. They look so comfortable with each other. He is the real genuine “big brother” for David. David could do away with the “other one”.
Bliss, always enjoy your comments at YouTube and now here at ND.
Ronaldsf, good luck with your papers!
Chickee, so sweet of you and I thank Robin from the bottom of my heart for her concern. Robin, if you are reading, just to let you know I have since gone back to the Doc and asked for a stronger pain-killer and he gave me 2 weeks supply of Naproxen Sodium which works for me. I am still on nerves-repair drug Neuroforte.
Joe, sorry to hear about your beloved sister. I lost mine when she was 18 year old (appendicitis) and I was 15.
Heart, so you had it on your face too. The excruciating pain is no exaggeration. Only those who experienced it before will understand. {{{{hug}}}}.
Cutter12, thanks, WYSYLM live performance at SLC is my favourite. I view it regularly on Youtube.
And to all those who gave comforting words, I really appreciated it. Hope those of you in the US experiencing bad weather are out of harm’s way and are safe and happily/peacefully preparing for the coming festive seasons.
SandyBeaches, ooooohhhh {{{hug}}}, {{{hug}}}. Hope your back is not as bad as my face. I am comforted to hear that you are well taken care of. I hope you recover soon.
HG, so you are recovering from the flu {{{hug}}}
Kizzi, my very positive energy and best wishes to your grandchild for a speedy recovery.
SF, your recap of the two encounters with David James warms my heart. Your self-control is admirable, hahaha,
Last but not least, Rascal, thank you for your efforts in organising the GIFT BASKET, it is lovely!
BLISS – don’t forget that David’s 1st performance in Star Search was a Motown hit — Who’s Lovin’ You-ooh!
EBONYANGEL on #125 – that’s one of the great things about shared spaces/knowledge: it gives us a better perspective of things
On the HI-DEF ALTNOY MTV:
Guys you should see it ASAP. There are details that I only saw with the HD version. I understand now why someone from the previous thread – was it CHIKEE or TOFAN? – thought David opted to delete all pictures! Also that scene in the grocery store, I didn’t realize that David was inside the push cart! HAHA.
The flecks in his eyes also spark in HD. sigh.
Hi all you angels! After 7, very long days, my power returned! Rascal, I am sending you special hugs for helping me to keep my sanity.
So I lost all the food in two fridges and took the opportunity to deep clean them. The one in my basement is a small one and rather “basic”, but the one in my kitchen is a bit more “high-tech” and if you could have seen me trying to put all the pieces back together you’d all have had quite the laugh – I know I did!
All this David wonderfulness just warms my heart.
SF-it was SO meant to be that you had an elevator ride with David. (Thanks again ras for sending it. It really made my day). SF-i always knew you were a rockstar.
Kizzi-please know I’ve said prayers for your grandaughter. I hope she’s in the recovery mode.
Hugs to all who have shared painful stories of illness and loss. You are all in my thoughts and prayers as well. David is such a healer-i do hope you find some peace and comfort through his music and here at ND.
Psst…I still love beebee.
ND is such a wonderful place to hang out. You are all so intelligent, thoughtful and funny.
Peace and joy friends!
Oh and Betsy- that little face is just too much! Glad they are both ok. It must have been very harrowing ! Hug.
A good read about the state of CD sales. Puts in perspective that David is doing really great for someone new in the business.
Check out the comments section as well… some interesting suggestions by a guy named Adam.

jackryan4DA #122 Look What You Made Them Do!!!
LOL
lamblisskasden #126/127 I know some of the songs on the list, the others I will youtube. Interesting how those smileys show up, I actually thought that was your way of indicating your favorite!
ebonyangel #128 thanks for the smiley link
jackryan4DA #136 went to the link… dumb question, but what is indie music?
Josie so glad you have power! I have one of those fridges too, need to look at the instruction manual to re-assemble!
Some of you may already know this, but David’s brother Daniel did a cover of Gavin DeGraw’s “Chariot” that was posted on YouTube long before his more widely discovered cover of Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours.”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xD4ZqIXrGwM
Welcome back, Miss Josie, we missed you. A lot of “de-lurking” going on here recently, which I know you always enjoy and support. How is Miss Noni? (That’s Josie’s mom, who, it must be acknowledged, is one of the True Original Archies, as she has been following David since Day One of Junior Star Search — beat that, Original Archies!)
New York is a frozen tundra with a few inches of snow blanketing everything, first time I’ve turned on the heat all winter (my building tends to be warm enough without actually turning it on–not this morning).
I am still waiting for a report of the basket delivery. It was storming in the SLC area yesterday (as reported by David in his blog as well) and so our messenger decided to take it over to the house today instead. Stay tuned.
For all of you worried about withdrawal — we will be posting the selected nominations for the Archie Awards very shortly, so there will be ample opportunity to review the Best of David Archuleta 2008 and even vote on your choices for the winner in each category. I also have what I hope will be heartwarming holiday special post coming up soon.
I want to take this opportunity to thank those who have shared your personal troubles and pains here on these boards, for it makes me feel like the energy of attention generated by this community can be applied to more than just swooning and cheering and weeping and kvelling — not that there’s anything wrong with that. Many have said, and and it bears repeating, that David attracts a very open-hearted type of person as his devotee. This disposition is a courageous undertaking in this world, and I like to think that when such individuals come together, there is the potential for good. David’s extraordinary open-heartedness is a shining example, and his healing power is undeniable. That this power and energy could be extended by way of community to those in need is a blessing indeed.
Ain’t technology grand?
Good morning rascal! I missed ND terribly! Thank you for asking about Noni – she does adore you so
She tried to keep me up to date on as much as she could about David throughout my power outage – she’s a faithful Archie, that’s for sure.
Noni will be in her glory today as it’s our annual family Christmas – all 5 of her children and their children and THEIR children gather for the day. I’m so very blessed to have wonderful siblings and that we all get along so well. I attribute it all to Noni, who always made us feel special in our own way and never played favorites. She is without a doubt, my hero – bar none.
Hope everyone stays safe and warm today!
Hugs ♥
JOSIE – glad to see you’re back! Bummer about the ref. But at least you have power now
DIANA #131 – I see we share a similar loss…thanks for your kind words regarding my beloved sister, as I also send to you. Thank goodness for our memories and photographs (which threaten to take over my house) to keep loved ones close to our hearts.
And I also send best wishes for your quick and complete recovery. Hang in there and know that this too shall pass!
AWESTRUCK – indie (short for independent) in popular music, is like a DIY approach to recording and publishing. It’s a term used to describe independence from major commercial record labels
rascal #140 I love your thought of the healing power of David’s music being extended to the larger community. I remember someone long ago (Kizzi? kindredspirit?) talking about the healing quality that rides on David’s voice. This Voice has opened so many of us to a gentler, more joyful way of being in the world. This cannot help but influence those around us, both in our lovely community here, as well as those in our day-to-day lives.
I will be the first to testify that I am not the same person I was a few months ago. David has set me on a new path. My family, friends and students are the beneficiaries.
David is the stone in the pond that creates ripples that never end. As I contemplate his influence in the world, I have to say that I am in awe of this miracle, this blessing.
rascal, stay warm!!
(((((Josie)))))
JR4DA, no that wasn’t me, I haven’t had a chance to watch the ALTNOY vid in HD yet… grrrrr
Bliss #126 & RSF #129: Stevie’s Ribbon in the Sky would definitely be on my list!
Hope David’s mouse (he did bond with Minnie at the Disney thing, hmm) stays away from that gift basket!!!! A nest of his memories ….gahhhhh.
jackryan #133 – A while back I asked if I was delusional (!) because I was quite sure that the first time i watched the ALTNOY video I saw the “delete” button pushed down. Of course, later viewings don’t show this. Did anyone else see what I saw the first time?
David blogged about the traffic in Chicago: Yeah, tell me about it!!!
Is it typical for people not to have central heating in his city? We didn’t have it in Australia, but I did have a friend in Phoenix who had central heating.
TOfan #146, yes, “Ribbon in the Sky” would be awesome!!
Another artist I would love him to cover more is Smokey Robinson! The master of soulful lyrics!
RSF, #149, omigosh, I was thinking exactly the same thing! There might be a good chance we have the same taste in music, lol
Someday David will do an entire Stevie Wonder album. It’s inevitable.
{{{Rascal}}} {{{Josie}}} {{{Oh, just EVERYBODY!}}}
{{{RONALD!}}} <– Smokey Robinson, Yesssssss! *THUD!*
Freo #148 Oh my goodness it is freeeeeezing in Utah and people certainly do have central heat. I can’t imagine why David wouldn’t have the heat on in his house?!? I suspect this is one of his spacey Davidisms – and we may never know how it is that our beloved superstar is living in a cold room with mice. His parents are probably just shaking their heads and LAUGHING at what he writes to the world.
I love each blog more than the last!
Good glorious afternoon!
Josie! so happy you’re back!! Missed you!! rascal kept us informed though, letting us know you were OK.
bliss..there are too many songs I think David could cover and bring back bigger & better, to list!
Even though David wants to write his own music, I think he will do an album of the biggest hits of the 60′s for his older fans someday.
Stevie Wonder & Smokey..OMG! And we know Stevie has heard about David! And Smokey, too. THE VOICE is causing a bigger buzz in the music world I’m sure, that we aren’t even aware of.
AZOFF & Jive are thanking their lucky stars that they have THE VOICE!
David is so funny! Talking about no heat in the house, mice in his drawer!? I’m sure they have heat, just not enough for him! hahaha! I’m glad they are planning to go away as a family for the holidays.
I’m still coming down from the incredible high from being in David’s space for a little while.
My son just came over..said “hey mom, whatcha doin’? Oh, on the computer..how’s David? has he gotten a restraining order on you yet? hahaha! very funny, my son the comedian!
smanda, We didn’t have central heating in Australia, which is why I asked. It definitely didn’t get as cold as where I live now in the Upper Midwest, but it would get to 32 F on cold winter days and it was sooooo cold. I used heavy featherdown blankets, portable heaters, and hot water bottles (both store-bought ones and also makeshift ones by pouring boiling water into plastic bottles and covering with a towel). Most modern houses, though, had portable room-furnaces that hooked up to gas jets on the walls. Perhaps some readers of this blog who live outside the U.S. have a similar set-up during the winter.
After living in Australia and Britain for long periods of time (where people heat very frugally and do not generally use heat at night), I can no longer sleep well in a heated room. We turn our furnace almost to off, just to keep the pipes from freezing, at night. I recently bought a hot water bottle here and had a time finding one because they aren’t used as much anymore in America, I don’t think.
I had a friend come visit me in Australian winter. I could not stress to him enough that he needed to bring *warm* clothes to wear indoors and out. Of course, he arrived with swimwear for the beach. He spent most of the visit huddled under blankets with teeth chattering near the portable electric heater!
Hi Silverfox! It was soooo lovely to meet you in Atlanta. You are every bit as beautiful as I imagined you would be!! Thank you for trying to calm my nerves before David’s set started. And just so you know, I didn’t scream when he came on stage. I was utterly speechless, clasping my hands tightly in front of my face with tears in my eyes. It was also a pleasure to share the hotel lobby experience with you the next morning.
Whew.
BTW – About how long do these blues-after-the-close-encounter-with- David last? I’ve been a bundle of emotions for the past two days!!
Kizzi – So sorry I didn’t get to meet you. I’ve been praying for you & your family & hope all is well.
#124 ebonyangel, I went to the Oprah link and started listening to Il Divo’s “O Holy Night,” and I stopped it after about a minute. David has spoiled me. They were performing that song, while David lives it, breathes it. Or, as rascal said after the Hollywood Tree Lighting, it was as if the song sings him; in my opinion, that song wasn’t singing Il Divo!
#154 SF, your statement about THE VOICE causing a big buzz in the music world reminds me that I had been wondering for a while whether NotingDavid has some celebrity lurkers (beyond David’s circle). I’ll bet it does, and I’ll bet there are some real surprises.
#155 Freo – Interesting! Thanks for that. Australia is one of those places on my wish list.
And #157 – I hadn’t thought of celebrity lurkers! What I am hoping today is that Jive or Walmart execs are lurking and will read this:
I am getting reports from all over the country that there are NO DAVID ARCHULETA CD’s left in many Walmarts! How can he sell CD’s that are not available to buy!? This needs to be fixed! I bought all that I could find a few weeks ago and there haven’t been any restocked since that time. This is wrong and bad! And is seriously slowing down my Christmas shopping.
Deb..wasn’t Atlanta a BLAST?! I’m really happy you & Debbie got to go to the M&G after the concert! The lobby experience was surreal to me! It’s still kinda hard to buh-lieve Maia, Bing and I were lucky enough to see him in the lobby after the concert! But then to see him the next day again..well it was too much! And I acted like a “lady” didn’t I?? Please tell me I did? I think I did! And in the elevator too..I did..act like a lady, I mean! hahaha!
olemr..i wouldn’t be a bit surprised as awell about the
poss-a-bil-luh-dee that ND has some VIP lurking about.
Actually I worry about it..but then I think..uh, they don’t know me or where I live anyway! uh-oh, yes they do, cuz I have a big mouth! hahaha
smanda! Hi! Did you get my email??
Oh Silverfox … You behaved like a perfect lady!! As I’m sure you always do!
I got a response from a post I made on Youtube about a month ago, so I revisited the video. It was the studio version of “Smokey Mountain Memories”. I’ve always loved the song and David’s performance of it, but this time it just killed me. My body was overcome with chills, and my eyes involuntarily began tearing up. What’s going to happen when I see and hear him perform live? They better have a team of paramedics on site, because I can’t be the only one who reacts to him in this way. Check out the video when you get the chance. It will clean out the debris in your soul.
Bliss – is that the shortened version of your screen name? I LOVE that performance. Almost as much as his performance of “And So It Goes”. Your way with words is such a blessing … David’s singing DOES clean out the debris in my soul … but I never knew how to express it.
I had the pleasure of meeting Silverfox in Atlanta at my first live concert with David. She warned me that I would probably scream when he walked onto the stage, but I didn’t. I just stood there, clasping my hands tightly in front of my face with tears in my eyes. And I could not take my eyes off of him or stop smiling until he left the stage. He is joy personified.
Deb…OH GOOD! I was in a daze, so I couldn’t be sure, but I was hoping! However, I can’t say I ALWAYS act like a lady..sometimes I act like a “lady possessed”….by everything and anything attached to DAVID and his VOICE!
These are the emotional steps I experience before, during & after seeing David in concert:
Before: Nervous anticipation. Giddiness. Loss of coherant thought.
During: Euphoria, eyes fixated on David, everything disappears, only David exists in the universe in those moments. Unaware of one’s reactions, ie, screaming, crying. Wanting more. Loss of coherant thought.
After: WHAT JUST HAPPENED! Afterglow euphoria. Giddiness. Total bliss. Hyper nervous energy. Complete high. Wanting more! Loss of coherant thought!
Withdrawal: Reliving through video and thoughts every moment of David on the stage. Playing his music continually. Dread that I will never see David in concert again. Depressed. Sad. Feeling of “why do I feel this way?” Wanting to experience David again & again! A loss of coherant thought.
The withdrawal for me right now is worse cuz I actually “touched” David..something I could not bring myself to do before..
I must have done something good in my life to be blessed with time to experience the moments with David. He is special. The aura around him exudes goodness and joy. Even when he’s tired, he shines.
Delivery! The basket was reportedly given directly to Jeff! I’ve been told to await details…
rascal..Yoo-Hoo!! Great news! I know they will love it..If only we could have a video of the delivery!!
Bliss – I haven’t had a chance to read all the comments here, but had to stop and reply on your #94 statement. You are so absolutely correct!!..Thank you, thank you for summing up what I’ve been trying to say!!
“The rest of the world seems mundane compared to whatever David is up to that day. We are all hooked on the good feeling we have when we are listening, watching or just thinking about this special guy. It’s quite a phenomenon, which may be studied and analyzed sometime in the future. In the meantime, it’s like Woodstock, without the LSD and lack of bathrooms.”
I was a little too young to go to Woodstock, but I watched on the sidelines with longing as I saw my sister, older cousins, etc. be a part of that. I was envious… and now I have David. The most interesting thing about this is that David is about as different from me as you can get. I’m a NYC liberal, democratic, progressive Jewish female. I’ve never knew anyone who is Morman and didn’t know much about that type of lifestyle, except what was probably incorrectly portrayed in the media!
Now I’m running back to ready all other comments…
ninaf167-having begun a real life friendship since our Dylan concert-blind-date and having shared the Archhead Albany adventure with you I’d like to respectfully disagree with your assessment, “David is about as different from me as you can get,”…. you listed only labels…..you and David are very similar in your essence, you both have very big and open hearts…….. and remember to “never question what feeds one’s soul….. David Archuleta is a feast.”
lamblisskasden #162 – “It will clean out the debris in your soul.” Love this! Smokey Mountain Memories always pierces my soul when I listen to David sing it, and I do go back to the AI vid’s on occasion. Even though David has come so far since AI, I will probably watch the reruns come January. After all, those performances were what got me hooked, lined and sinkered in the first place.
rascal – good to know they received the basket.
happy – new avatar… THUD
Happy, nice avatar — those biceps! Is he lifting weights or something? Is it my imagination or has he filled out recently?
Thanks Happy, as usual very kind and lovely words… and may I say the feeling is mutual. Meeting you and all the other wonderful people of this ND community has been the best part of the David experience. David’s music is meant for sharing and everyone here expresses a warm and generous soul!! I’m very thankful for the opportunity to open up and communicate. It sure beats the thousands of dollars I spent on therapy..LOL
Oh, drat…David’s album has just been released in Australia and the Melbourne Age gave it a 2/5. Much of the review focuses on Simon.
FREOFAN – so the 2/5 should be about Simon then! Geez!
#160 SF! I didn’t get it! Where did you send it? I want it!Try this address – mras@juno.com.
smanda..I’m so sorry!! I’ll resend!
Hello to all my friends at notingdavid!
I had the privilege to take your absolutely amazing Gift Basket up to the Archuleta’s today. I told rascal you did good! My daughter and I were tempted to take it all apart to see all the goodies in it it looked so incredible. But we didn’t! And I could not lift it by myself it was so heavy!
We did give it directly to Jeff and he was very appreciative and a little stunned. So Thank You! Know that the mission was accomplished!
Julee
“mom”
archu_adorable
archu_adorable – Thanks for delivering!
archu-adorable – Yay! So nice to think of that fabulous basket in the hands of the Archuleta family. Thanks rascal for letting us share our love!! Thanks archu-adorable for the delivery!!
Julee…MY HERO!! You are wonderful!
Hey SF – so good to meet you in Houston!
You all should know that Dee is gorgeous and you would know her the minute you saw her!
And I forgot to say the David’s fans are among the most generous and loving people I have ever encountered. Knowing each other is one of the many gifts that David has given us all.
OK, brace yourself, HI-DEF version of the Beanie Interview
http://www.sendspace.com/file/yftrt2
How do we call this RONALD? Warning Level #5?
hi everyone…
been lurking and wanted to send ((((hugs)))) to everyone!!!!!!!!!
David is the BEST!!!! and so is the ND efamily.
Just lurking myself, in between baking and candy cooking! Just wanted to say thanks to archu_adorable for the “hand delivery”. How absolutely fantastic that “one of us” delivered Noting David’s Christmas present! (maybe rascal told us that, I could’ve forgot)! Too cool that Jeff answered the door and was pleasantly surprised! Back to the kitchen I go…….
hi all. Hi josie! glad all is well with you and hope you fully enjoyed your Christmas party. I check in to pass along two wonderful discoveries for me today (may be old hat to some of you)…. treat yourself to the Scotch pop-up tape dispenser that slips over your hand for wrapping presents- I’m in love with this gadget!! cut my wrapping time in half!! Which then left me enough time to go to the movies…treat yourself to a viewing of “Slumdog Millionaire”, you won’t be disappointed.
Hi everyone!
Quick story. I brought a cd I made incorporating all of Davids christmas songs into work today. I manage a large drugstore. I hid the cd player behind some christmas lights, turned it on, pressed repeat, and presto! David all day long, seeping into the psyche of our shoppers. Several people asked who it was.
Every time I heard “O holy Night……..happiness! Smiles! Bliss! What a great day in retail!
The only drawback were the screams at the beginning of most songs. (and I picked the less screamy of all of them!)
Here’s hoping that next year I’ll have the real thing in that player.
HAPPY – see my post at #181 – hurry! You won’t be disappointed!
JR186- you toy with me JR…… a proper warning level posted, so I thank you for that…….can’t comment for 8 more days….
ps- 3 discoveries in one day!!!!! ’tis the season…..
BETSY – I did it too at work last Friday! Of course they knew it was David but every time OHN pipes in, I could see our staff stopping for a while esp when it comes to the “Fall on your knees” part.
Me I always tear up… And when MDYK played – they totally stopped cos to them it is a new song and they really liked it! My corpcom mgr remarked that his voice is tailor-made for this Season, according to him. Then our AVP for corplan chimed in, “Really inspirational, like you cant to think of anything but good things.” Then they both shook their heads as if to come out of something. Haha.
YUP, they get it or should I say, David got to them?
SF#154- I have been gone for a few weeks and have been enjoying catching up with all the wonderful posts. When I read your post I just could not resist delurking. I found it very entertaining! It is so fun when you laugh out loud when you are alone in a room. The sound can be a little startling. You made me laugh out loud! It felt good! Thanks!
happy 186…I just did a double take at your avatar. And yep it is what I think it is!!! ROFL! OMGosh I don’t dare do something like that. Do I?
JR – The “Fall on your knees part is just ONE of the parts that kills me a bit each time. I have a list!
There is a part when the two loudmouth, er, two women are talking about halfway through and then his voice soars over them singing “O night divine” and I swear there is nothing else in the world but that voice.
“His love, his loooove” – I cry thinking about it.
“His gospel is peeaaaace”
Perfection every time.
Here I am crying over a song I’ve heard a million times. And downstairs my husband is glued to the t.v. watching a “Big Love” marathon.
Crazy
Tessie, yeah, my son gets that I “get” David Archuleta!
Both my sons tease me relentlessly! But they both want me to be happy and they see I am happy..They agree David has a great voice, but they aren’t “fans”..not yet anyway..ah, but maybe someday.
My son made the R/O remark cuz I told them about my
Close Encounter with The Voice! Now I’ll never hear the end of it! Like when will I be moving to Utah? And does David’s “grandmother” know she has competition (that’s to remind me how “old” I am..hahaha! Like I said, my son, actually both my sons think they’re comedians!
Some wonderful videos and video clips of David on FOD – clips I’ve never seen. They’re doing a month by month review of David’s 2008 over the next 12 days, too.
Oh BETSY – LOL when picturing you & your husband… esp in any minute, you would post that he would holler at you again for staying too long with David hahaha…
AND YES, his voice, THE VOICE just soars over the din and hum or anything! Glorious!
One of the favorite parts I treasure with OHN, from a technical standpoint is David finally nailed that chest tone/voice at by the 2nd “O night Divine” at 2:21. That is particularly tricky.
If you compare that with his “O night divine” in his OHN a year ago – the same point, this time at 1:50 mark in the 2007 video, you hear him still falter a bit.
Tells us how vastly he has improved. Which is incredible given how magnificent his voice already is! He really has come a long way in conquering his own voice.
Ninaf, I’ll make a deal with you. I’ll bring the Yiddish, you bring the chocolate babka (no cinnamon-it’s lesser babka) Sorry, I couldn’t resist the Seinfeld reference. It is, after all, the “David” of sitcoms.
Deb, of course you can call me Bliss. My real name is Mike, btw. Your kind words to me are greatly appreciated. Writing about David is truly a labor of love.I just turn off my head and let my heart do the writing. All credit belongs to David
Bliss195- can I bring the brownies? …. they are our preferred food….
Silver fox again you make me laugh. The interaction between you and your sons I can really appreciate. There is obviously alot of affection between you. It makes it even sweeter knowing that we share the same affection for David.
glad to see my avi is spreading holiday cheer…..
good night SF. Amen.
bebereader- go ahead, spread some cheer…..
Good night all. Thanks for the fun.
David Archuleta — Road to MSG Z100’s Jingle Ball — Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KqGRBkmYdo
His honesty just oozes from him
I’m hoping the Archuleta’s are enjoying and feasting on all the goodies in the gift basket! Thanks again rascal, for organizing and allowing the ND family to be a part of giving some Christmas cheer to an awesome family!
Good nite all! And for our beautiful David..
Take care, You will always be numero uno in our eyes! Thank you for all you do and for just being you!
CONTIGO SIEMPRE CON AMOR!
Happy, by all means bring the brownies. Along with listening to David sing, brownies are up there with the great joys of life. Now if we could get David to sing a song about brownies…. Good night all.
jackryan4DA #122 Look What You Made Them Do!!!
Remember when David started crying during the AI tour stop in Utah and said “Look what you made me do”. All because of the love he was receiving from the audience.
Rascal – I hope its ok to post this here.
I don’t know how many of you know about the gifting campaign that Team Archie has run since the debut of Crush. They went on to gift the Crush vid & now the album. The people they are targeting are the international Archies who can’t get the album legally and anyone that is tapped financially (the little ones). They are gifting the album via iTunes, Amazon, Walmart (physical CD), Target, and any other way a giftee might ask.
Long story short, they’ve sent out a distress call to all Archies for help. Please help if you can. Grace & her team will guide you through the process. Its very easy. I’ve donated via paypal and sponsored Archies in Vietnam, Philippines, Austria, and Spain. (all very greatful Archies)
Anyway, here’s a message from Virginia5 (Grace) at Team Archie:
Attention David Archuleta Fans!!!!
We need your help. As you may know, Teamarchie.com is running a gifting campaign for David’s music. We are experiencing waves of gifting requests from countries that are just getting wind of our gifting campaign. Many of these countries do not have his album at all: Brazil, Vietnam, Australia, and parts of China. We are experiencing an unexpected flood of requests from some of these countries’ David Archuleta fan sites, where the word is finally spreading to these parts of the world that we are gifting his album.
We would love to have help from David’s fans in either donating money to our campaign, participating in the auctions that benefit the campaign, or by sponsoring an archie (or several if you are inclined). We have more details on our gifting campaign at http://www.teamarchie.com/promo on how you can participate.
Sadly, if we don’t get help from archies, then we won’t be able to fulfill the majority of the requests that are coming in at this point. We really feel sad about this prospect, so we have decided to place a call out once again to help our fellow archies throughout the world.
Thanks so much for your ongoing support in Teamarchie’s Gifting Campaign!
Have a fantastic Sunday…Thank you all for supporting David and supporting us!
Pouncer, I think the album was just released in Australia; I saw a review in The Melbourne Age from Dec. 18.
DavidfanLIZ #147 Was just cruising through YouTube and watched this video – it has the part where the pictures are deleted – never saw it before, but here’s the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKKbzSnQJ_I
marlie7 #205 – I never saw that version either – thanks for finding it and posting the link!
Hi All:
Thanks so much everyone for your well wishes for my granddaughter. She is on the mend but won’t be home til next weekend.
Snarky’s posted this: Off to the Archuletas’ house we go.
THISISYOURMOTHERSPEAKING REPORTING FOR SNARKIES.
Hi Friends!
Just wanted to let you know that I delivered the lovely messages you all wrote right to the Archuleta doorstep, in fact right to Mr. Jeff. Rascal at notingdavid had contacted me recently about delivering a large and very awesome gift basket from the fans on their site which I was happy and privileged to do. And then we had the messages from you all and I added a few snarky gifts on your behalf including some large warm fuzzy blankies for the archu-sibs that I didn’t know would be REALLY appreciated until after I got them!
So
The huge and amazing gift basket from notingdavid weighs so much only my very strong 17 year old can lift it. Well my husband can but he just had his toenails ripped off blah blah and walking on snow with a big basket is tricky. Then we had a box with a few David gifts and a large garbage bag tied with a sparkly gold ribbon with the blankets in them. Talk about snarky.
So
We needed at least 3 people to take these gifts to the door and I sent my husband, Real Daughter and Real 17 year old and I just sat in the car. BTW, my 17 year old adorable’s name is JEFFREY DAVID no lie.
So
Jeff answered the door. I realized that thisisyourfatherspeaking was floundering at the door knowing what to say and he was gesturing to me so I went up and told Jeff who the gifts and messages were from.
I was so proud of us all for not making Jeff go wake up the rest of the family or bring them out from their safe hiding place they go to when strangers come to their door. Jeff even put down his shotgun after awhile so I think he trusted us ha ha
We had a nice conversation as Jeff is so prone to do because he is GLORIOUS and THEY ARE NOT FREEZING, David fanbase, so everyone can relax.
David having a mouse in his drawer reminds me of how woodland creatures in Disney movies are always drawn to the hero/ heroine and help them out. I am sure that was what that mouse was doing. It was probably Gus and he has most likely already fixed up David’s wardrobe for the upcoming tour. He heard David sing and since Cinderella didn’t need him anymore he made his way to the Archuleta house. Next D will find doves and rabbits and deer cleaning his room for him, maybe some dwarves and if Snow White is smart, she will show up as well.
Amy edit: Can I fangirl Mom for a second? We had wanted to get the Archuletas some snarky gifts, but then all the cellcasting and snowing and fangirling and newsing and junk GOT IN THE WAY, and time slipped AWAY AWAY AWAY, so Mom, the glorious human being that she is, took it upon herself to pick out some snarky gifts FOR US, because I guess she knew I was in LaLaLand and incapable of managing blogging and cellcasting and traveling AND REMEMBERING TO BRING JEFF HIS HAT, oh gosh, so Jeff doesn’t get a gift, sorry, Jeff, next time we see you, expect a glorious hat. ANYWAY. SO. OH MY GOSH. NOW THE ARCHULETA KIDS ARE WARM, AND MIGHT POSSIBLY BE THANKING SNARKIES FOR THAT.
So here, I thank MOM. <3333333333 Thank you for being an awesome Mom and looking out for us absentminded Snarkers. I’m such a kid, needing my mommy to remind me, “Oh, Christmas is almost here!”Off to the Archuletas’ house we go.

Also – this is my favorite video, a defining moment I believe for David (and his facial expressions are joyous and priceless), from the Jingle “Thing” tour:

Happy Holidays!
This video of David singing ATM at MSG reveals everything one needs to know about him. A lot of people have “great smiles”, but David’s smile does not come from his face alone. It comes from a deep, private place in his heart, which is pure, untainted, and sincere. There’s no “agenda” in his smile. It’s the unconditional acceptance and love that is usually seen only in very young children. It is astounding that a person can reach the age of 18 in this culture and still be in such a state. His singing is another aspect of that state. His ability to express his heart through his singing in such a personal and beautiful way is what “gets” to everyone. It sure as heck gets to me.
kizzi/207~ Thats Great news kizzi!~~{{HUGS}} to all~~
marly7 #205 – Aha! I am not delusional, just very observant. It was not this alternative, weird version that I saw, but this version definitely has the “delete” at the end. Thanks so much for that link.
Have those paddles and cushions ready – It’s the Behind the Scenes video for ALTNOY:

Hey Bliss – love your eloquent writing, you and Rascal make a great team in that department – and it’s true David’s smile is pure heart!
BTW – the Seinfeld “Babka” episode you referred to was always one of my favorites. Besides, if it is not chocolate, why bother..LOL. Do you really think everyone feels Seinfeld is the “David” of sitcoms – or is it just us “New Yorkers?”
Hey everyone!
Thanks caseydog for the link..can anybody say..
NATURAL BORN ACTOR!!
Kizzi! good to “see” you!! Missed you in Atlanta..but there will be a next and a next and a next time..David will give us many more concerts!
Hope David’s having a grand time with his family!!
(((((Kizzi)))), great news!
Caseydog #211, thanks for the link. It was nice to “meet” Fernanda and hear her talk. When she says “I’m … the girl,” it seemed sweetly goofy (hmm, like someone else we know).
BLISS — A child will lead. WRT David, I’d like to take that to mean childlike (to differentiate it with being childish) quality that is native to our true spiritual selves and which I suppose is the magnet that invariably draws us to David.
That sense of wonder & acceptance; of freshness, lightness that seem so natural to most children, are ones that can be easily lost sight of as we are burdened with layers of worldliness, materiality, and egotism. David at 18yo simply radiates with chlldlike qualities in the face of the same conditions.
Have we not read studies showing that highly creative people share one thing in common – possession of such childlike qualities? Moreover, it has been observed that one possible reason creative geniuses are able to be productive for so long is that they are able to maintain these qualities longer than their peers.
That’s one of the most important learning I had this year. To hold on to my childlike mind even as I advance in age. For we always have a choice in the matter of how we respond to life. We can choose lightness over stress, choose laughter over frustration, choose kindness over anger.
It’s funny that almost always, we look for happiness in extrinsic things, little realizing that happiness is very much an intrinsic quality.
2008, despite being a difficult year has proven to be a humdinger. And we can all agree why
A Blessed Christmas & a Bountiful New Year to all!

LIZ on #210 – if you view the hi-def version of the altnoy mtv, you can see his thumb move upward to the YES delete option. So yes my dear, you were not imagining things when you got the sense that he indeed deleted the pix in that last scene of the official video
Holiday greetings from David!

Thanks David!
A sincere “right back atcha, David”! JR4DA, thanks for the links! Happy Christmas and Merry New Year to all at Noting David! It’s been a heck-of-a-ride, hasn’t it? The “David Future” is looking really exciting and I am so thankful to be living and enjoying every bit of it!
Day Two of being snowed in here in the Pacific Northwest. It’s beautiful, and I’m not minding a bit–yet!–there’s so much to catch up on in the land of David. (Ha! As if one could every really catch up with HIM!!)
I just created my own radio station at Pandora.com based on my favorite artist (guess who). They started out the set list with one of his, and their pick was My Hands–interesting that it wasn’t Crush. Next up, Colbie Caillat–OK, this is sounding promising! Third song: Cook! ACK!!!! Oh nevermind. Oh wait, next up: One Republic “Apologize”. Hm. Fourth up: ALTNOY. (Interesting… still no “Crush”.) Well, the jury’s still out… maybe I’ll just burn a CD of David’s holiday music instead! Speaking of…
HAPPY HOLIDAYS, all of you wonderful, insightful, amazing, hilarious ND people! You have contributed so much to an extraordinary year. “Wow. Just Wow!” And a super warm holiday “thank you” to you Rascal, who keeps the home fires burning brightly here for us to gather round and enjoy the blessing of our Star, appropriately named David!
Cheers, hugs, tears and smiles to you all.
Ninaf, I remember seeing an interview with Jason Alexander regarding the succes of “Seifeld”. He said that when he read the pilot he thought, “This show is way too
New York Jewish to be popular in middle America.” Well, the rest is TV history.
I see a similarity with David’s success. I’ve read that he won’t last because he is too middle America and “whitebread” to make it in the innercity-centric music business. The fact is, whether it’s a TV show or an entertainer of any kind, people enjoy great talent and great “aura”. David is the most talented singer with the most magnetic aura of anyone out there. His qualities are universal, and will appeal to anyone open and receptive to them.
The coming year will see David’s success and popularity
defy all his critics. I expect many of these “geniuses” in the press who dismissed him to be tripping over each other to get on board the Archuleta Express. You’d have to be a “dang” fool not to.
Basically the critics have criticizing as their bread and butter…other then that any criticizing of David is pathetically ridiculous…and should be ignored…David and critics can never be on the same page…
