He Restoreth My Soul
Had someone told me a year ago that I would be offering holiday wishes to many hundreds of warm-hearted, hilarious, glorious people who have become members of an online community run by me, I would have laughed and asked, “for what possible reason?” The clairvoyant might have replied, “all because of one remarkable young man.”
I won’t demur. I have been captivated by one or two remarkable young men in my time. But none have warranted (or deserved) the level of attention and consideration I have allocated here. And as I have said before: It almost doesn’t seem like a choice. It feels more like a calling. It is also undeniable that the perpetuation of this effort would have been impossible without the incredible support and participation of the notingDavid membership. I have such great respect and affection for the people who congregate here that I hardly know what I might do to continue to deserve your company.
Gratitude must also be conveyed even, and perhaps especially, to those members who have on occasion challenged me, sometimes with great fervor, in my beliefs and practices. Having to figure out how to be inclusive without sacrificing my principles has been an education. I have a great deal more respect for the difficulties involved in the politics of inclusion, and take this moment to wish our new president much wisdom and patience in his intentions to put into practice this lofty and demanding ideal.
David may never fully realize the degree to which his existence has and will continue to affect people in profound and remarkable ways. Such is the nature–the curse and the blessing–of the artist. Despite his immense love and passion for music, for his audience and for his fans, we need always to be aware that his ability to sing for us is built on a foundation of diligence, dedication, hard work, and sometimes great difficulty and sacrifice. Things are always pretty onstage because the sweat and blood has been spilled offstage. I have alluded before to the irony that his fans are in many ways much luckier than he is, for David is the only one in the world incapable of knowing what it is to be moved by the artistry of David Archuleta.
As I was watching what has become perhaps my favorite Christmas movie, one particular scene jumped out at me like an Archugaze. It refers to an association that has been made before, but which I think is particularly resonant here. I probably won’t be posting again until January, so please accept this little presentation as my holiday gift and New Year’s wish to all of you, fellow travelers in pursuit of a guiding star.

Why does this make me weep even more? We do forget the sacrifice sometimes, don’t we? The separation from his lovely mother, and beloved siblings. Possibly feeling the strain of being the focus of the family, when he is so much more cognizant of their needs than an almost 18 year old should be. Worrying about keeping his parents apart for long periods of time. I remember at the end of the ALTNOY video, how tired he was. He is giving an all out effort, and I for one appreciate the sacrifice, work, and determination involved for him to give us the kind of access to his life that he has. I wish him all good things. I wish all of his fans, especially those here at ND the same. It’s been a wonderful experience. I hope is has been and will continue to be for our David as well.

I’m so excited for you and Happy having the chance to see and hear David again, and at such a small venue!! (No way a repeat of Albany!) Hoping your daughters are just as thrilled!
No one else in my family shares my ODD… In fact during AI, they were all fans of the other guy. I really wish they would change their minds and appreciate all that we know and love about our David.
Come this Thursday they all will be receiving David’s CD as gifts. I can’t wait for their reactions.
As a prelude, and since it is the time to send e-greetings, today, I sent my sister a YouTube Christmas card — the video (from jwipe) of David singing “O Holy Night” in Sacramento which I think is just perfect!! My sister replied back: “OK, your “Idol” is good, looks like a really young kid yet.”
That was it!! Nothing more about his voice and the soaring sound. I’m disappointed. I was hoping, at least, she would be moved by David’s gorgeous smile at the end, despite he is singing one of the most beautiful songs ever. Also, since she is a florist, I was hoping the bouquet given to David would spur a comment.
But, for now, getting her to say he “is good” is a start.
Will she be playing his CD for Christmas? I hope!!

Discovering notingDavid earlier this year was a veritable blessing and became for me a daily touchstone to discover, to share, to observe the unfolding artistry of David Archuleta. I realized this year when I hear David sing from his heart that my spirit soars and brings to me, in overabundance, the music of life. I thank you and everyone in this community.
“The Bishop’s Wife” is one of my favorite Christmas classics. There is a line that Dudley says in the clip above: “Angels come down and put ideas in people’s heads. And then people feel very proud of themselves because they think it was their own idea.” I can’t tell you how many times I have seen what you have written repeated as an original idea in other places in cyberspace space this past year. To influence opinion in the positive is such a powerful gift. And, so perhaps there is another irony--that rascal will not know the full extent of what it is to be moved by rascal’s writing.
To everyone I wish to share my Irish Grandmother’s Gaelic blessing:

It warms my heart to know that David is back in the loving arms of his family and friends after so many months on the road. #38 silverfoxe, I’ve asked myself that question many, many times over the last year. Why do I care so much about a 17 year old American Idol contestant? In my search to figure this all out, I found many others in the same boat as I, and thank God I did! Of course, we know our love of All Things Archuleta is much more than a passing fancy. I also consider myself one of the lucky ones who “get” David, and have from the beginning. My family still hasn’t figured out why I’m so enthralled with David’s voice, but maybe someday…in the meantime I will continue to support David in anyway I can, and thank God for sites like this one, SnarkyArchies and Fans of David, where I am a frequent commenter. I am sooo looking forward to more of that thrilling Archuleta ride in ’09 that David has had us on for all of ’08! Merry Christmas to you all!

Yesterday, Dec 21, the Pinoy Archangels represented David well! No other fanbase got any invite from a radio station here in the Philippines. The Pinoy Archangels are the FIRST! David is making waves here in the Phils

A SG-based friend of mine called to say that he saw this being played on a huge outdoor tv screen on Orchard Rd which is the main shopping boulevard in Singapore.
He says “it is not enuff that you have to talk and talk about David to me every opportunity you could see fit but to see a giant sized Archuleta -- that cutie pie artist of yours (his actual words, promise! LOL) singing to everyone here is just too much!

Hey! I just searched for news of David, and discovered that he’s #1 among celebrities AND musicians over at X-rank. Not sure exactly what that means — just that people who use MSN are looking for news of him, I guess — but #1 is GOOD.
kait..being #1 on xRank means David is the most sought after celeb and/or musician for news, video, music, etc. on the net. Not surprised! We are going cra-zeh surfing the for anything & everything, old & new, about our Golden Boy, David!!

I can remember when I was just posting on the Idol Forums. Searching for something more, Jeff told us about this wonderful site where the guy on there “gets” David. That’s how I discovered NotingDavid. We appreciate your words, your humor and of course, your love for David. It’s just amazing when you think about all of this, we were all different people. Look how David has affected our lives and how he’s changed our lives, and changed us as people. I know that I am a better person since the beginning of David’s journey. He opens our hearts, our souls and lets the love come out and be shared with others. I too feel like I am called and am on a mission to spread David’s music and spread his love. David touches all of us in many ways and it’s nice to hear how he has touched all of the ND’s here. Remember Rascal, this site started with you and for that I’m so grateful. I’m also so grateful for the friendships that I’ve developed here. God Bless everyone and Merry Christmas!
Rascal, you have built an amazing community and legacy here, one of which I admire greatly. NotingDavid has always been the place where I feel my ideals and opinions on David are shared as strongly by you and the people that post here. It has never been about the fandom or the worship (well most of the time hehe), it is about the art, the passion and the impact that David has on us. He has made such a positive impact on so many lives, and so while the rest of the world goes on with business as usual, we have let him into our hearts and souls so we can find the peace that allows us to respond to life in a new way. I have found David to be a solution to the deep traumas of the heart, and with new purpose of the heart we are encouraged to be better people, to feel more, to love more. He brings new purity and is undefiled in his mission through his everyday life. He has no idea what grace, strength, and stedfastness he shows in all his endevors. I think we all need this breath of fresh air. He has helped us adjust our perspective on life with his remarkable humility and generosity of spirit. We will follow with devotion this precious gem throughout his life and career, being thankful for every minute of it.

Rascal, thank you for your beautiful tribute to David and for giving the ND family the benefit of your gift. It’s been a challenging year for me, and to have this place of respite to come to so often and be uplifted time and time again, is a blessing. One can visit this place and feel compassion, healing, friendship, inspiration, and hilarity any day of the week. Just as Erin mentioned above, I also first started posting on IdolForums and someone there had mentioned a more mature, adult forum called notingdavid.org. That was months ago, and I am thankful for the many friends I’ve made here. I am indeed blessed to have you all in my life.

Dear friends at ND: Amen to Silverfox……I am quickly learning on this site to agree with her! At any rate- welcome to the first time posters, I just came out a few weeks back myself and I felt warmly welcomed
Now what I wanted to share wasthat I just returned from my local Super Walmart to pick up 3 David CD’s for Chritmas presents.( and a few assorted groceries because, there will be hungary people at my house on Thursday)… THERE WAS ONLY 1 David CD in the display, and after seaching DESPARATELY around I could only find 1 more! I checked with the customer service lady, who nicely told me that all of them are out and I was “lucky” to even find 2. I said “Oh, so they are selling good”… She said ‘oh yes!”…. I said “have you heard him sing? He has the voice of an angel” She was an older lady ( well older than me but that population is getting smaller each year) and she said- Yes I love him.
Well there is a point here…. I was shopping at Target this week also ( next year on line only- cause I am over it)
and there were TONS of David’s CD’s, in stock….( even though they were on sale-)
So, clearly Jive made a blunder in not including WFM in all of the releases…. I personally will wait until Wallmart gets them back in, or I will try another store…because I don’t want the less complete version for any of my friends.
Oh my, Rascal, the tears are just flowing like a river down my face today. I so love that movie, and I myself just watched it a few days ago. It is incredible to me that the very scene you posted here jumped out at me and I thought of our David. He has awakened my spiritual soul and has led me to want to be a better, kinder, more loving person--both through his music and his example of joy and love for everyone. I really felt dead inside until the magical night I discovered David Archuleta on American Idol. I will never, ever be the same again. It is impossible for me to go back to the dark place I was in, because I have David’s beautiful persona and his glorious voice to pull me out of despair. How wonderful that we have technology to watch interviews, performances, meet and greets, etc. to feel a void when it is needed!
I adore David Archuleta! I will be his fan forever! He makes me smile and feel happy in my heart, and that it is a gift I shall always treasure. I know there are some who scoff at someone like me who feels a very strong spiritual connection to David. I don’t put David on a pedestal or think him to be perfect. But I cannot deny that twice when hearing him sing something profound happened to me that has changed me, hopefully for the better. It awakened something in me and led me on a journey that has been nothing short of miraculous. I have made some cherished and treasured friends that will be lifelong, and that only came about because of David.
Thank you, Rascal, for this place to come and be amongst wonderful people who don’t think I am crazy due to my ODD and who “get” David just like I do.

“Desperate” is a song that has grown on me. I wouldn’t mind seeing it released as a single at some point, and we all know that David will have some wonderful surprises for us when he performs it live.

I’ve so enjoyed reading through all of your posts and feeling your holiday cheer. I have a brief winter’s tale to share:
It is the season of Christmas and Hanukkah and it was also the winter solstice last Sunday. Some friends invited me to go with them on a night walk, a two mile hike to the beach, to celebrate the solstice. It was raining moderately and it was windy and cold as we parked our cars at the trailhead, far away from any houses and lights. We bundled up with multiple layers, and for Northern Californians, we really did look like the eskimos that David sings about.
We walked closely together through utter and complete darkness on a path that wound through rolling hills. You could barely see a few feet in front of you, even with a flashlight, and you had to watch carefully for your footing, trying to avoid rocky patches, deep puddles and mud. Finally we came to the ocean and I could see the white foam of the waves crashing on the beach.
We gathered and made a fire in a rocky alcove. There was a circle of golden, glowing faces around the fire and our wet clothing steamed. There were songs and stories and talk of hopes for the new year. In a way, this is the earth’s new year, the time of shifting towards the light.
As we gathered up to make the return trip, we noticed that the rain had stopped and the wind had died down completely. The air felt sweet. We turned off our flashlights and walked with only the help of the ambient light. Instead of chatting and staying close as we had on the way in, I chose to walk silently and alone for a bit. There was this delicious feeling of walking completely alone and at peace, and with the jovial sounds of voices ahead and behind me.
I was on my journey alone, but surrounded by friends.
ND feels like that to me. We are all alone in our journey, and alone we must find the courage to enter the darkness. But with the precious gift of our friends we can share music and stories and give support for our journey home.
I am grateful for David’s music, for our dear rascal and for our lovely community here. Happy Holidays to my ND friends, one and all!

I was watching some videos of David on YouTube and watched and listened to “O Holy Night” from the tree lighting ceremony in Hollywood. The entire peformance is beyond words in its majesty and beauty, but let me tell you, when he sings “Fall on your knees” I was glad I wasn’t standing, because my entire body went limp and I
experienced a jolt that I cannot describe. The combination of his voice, his unprecedented sincerity, and the respect he has for the music, all coming out of that beautiful, angelic face is what makes him the most magnetic, fantastic performer of our time. I have never heard or seen anything so beautiful in my life. I know I’m “preaching to the choir” here, but c’mon now. How am going to survive one of his concerts?

Highervibe, I read your post after I posted mine. I saw the video of David singing O Holy Night in close up. The sound was excellent and seeing the emotion etched on his face makes it , no pun intended, a religious experience. I used to think I had a pretty good “way with words”, but describing anything about David leaves me feeling that I haven’t done him justice. This performance cannot be described, it must be experienced.

I know he changed mine.

olemr…Funny you should talk about plagiarism…You must have noticed how it seems like WE here are all guilty of plagiarizing from each other, but in reality, our feelings about David and what he has done for us is so similar that we can’t help but use similar words & phrases to describe those feelings. So sometimes, when I read a post and it looks very familiar, I realize that many others have posted the same sentiments.
When I’m having a particularly ODD day..it’s easy for me to post how I feel, cuz I tend to be a cra-zeh at those times..but when I’m having a day where all is calm and David’s Voice brings me to tears and I wonder why I feel this way, why do I need this young man in my life and what would I be doing now without him in my life? I express those feelings the best way I know, which is just like everyone else here, using
almost the same words. Sometimes there are no words of praise that do David justice..except the words by rascal, who also has the power to bring us to our knees with his words as David does with his Voice.

Betsy #171, I told myself that I wouldn’t check back until after Christmas but I just couldn’t stay away! David already has a small group of fans who go between concerts. I know of a couple people who have been to more than 15 concerts all over the country.

I was having my umpteenth discussion with an unitiated friend about David, and the question that always comes up is “Sure, he’s a great singer, but there have been so many great singers over the years. What makes him so special to you ?” It’s a fair question, because David is very special to me, as both a singer and as a person. I think I’m in good company here on that.
Here’s what I’ve come up with. Through the years there have been singers with great voices and great songs. Some of my favorites are Elvis, Sam Cooke, Jerry Butler,
Dusty Springfield, Connie Francis, John Lennon (with or without the Beatles), Barbra Streisand, Dean Martin….. you get the point. When these great stars performed, you loved the song and the unique way it was sung by them. With David, there is an important added dimension. When David sings, not only do you love the song and his performance, but you feel better about YOURSELF throughout the song and for a period after. David’s performances not only sound great, they FEEL great; to David and to you. He is able to share his love of the song and his inner light with you. This happens on a very personal level. There is no gap between him and you. The song is being performed just for you because you are feeling what he’s feeling at the moment he’s singing it. To quote Carlos on MiTRL it’s a “Moment with David Archuleta” and we made a connection with someone we love, and feel loved by. Every time David makes that connection, he has made a fan for life. Everyone here is already a fan for life because we’ve been touched by David. As the list grows, so does his fan base. David never loses fans, he only gains them. We’re on the ground floor of a building that will soon be as hign as the sky, built one fan at a time, with no end in sight. Something special must be going on, because I’ve never felt like this about a public person, not have I seen such a mass reaction to one person who is just being himself and not “trying” to get people to react one way or the other to him.

You are right, of course, about the connection with David. He is so much more than just a wonderful singer. His relationship with his fans is almost like a ministry, except that he does not preach to us; and he does not judge us. He just IS, and that is what seems to give us the hope that we so desperately need.
Many blessings be upon you and yours Rascal for creating this site and the above video. OHN and Imagine are the two songs that first caught my attention, love and admiration for the kid. With every passing day he never fails to amaze me with the beauty of his voice, person and aura. The video made me cry openly here in the sports bar and I didn’t give a damn who saw me weep. olemr2001, Connie was the first female superstar of the rock era, and her record sales are astronomical. Her hits never stopped from 1958 until the British Invasion of 1964. I learned recently that the reason there were not more female stars in those days was because it considered unbecoming for a female to be on tour with the guys, so they could not effectively promote their records. Connie’s father was somewhat of a “stage dad” and kept her on a very short leash.In 1974, she was sexually assulted in her motel room in Westbury, NY after a performance. She has battled depression and substance abuse ever since, but has been performing sporadically over the years.
As a pop music enthousiast for over 50 years, I would like to thank all the pioneers of “our” music. The list of greats is too long to name here, but I assure you that it is an embarrassment of riches. One of them is certainly Connie Francis.
For me , pop music came to a sudden and shocking halt in the late ’80s and was replaced by mutations called rap, grunge, and just plain garbage. As I’ve said before, I contented myself with listening to the great music of my earlier days, and there was plenty of it.
When I saw David sing “Shop Around”, I turned to my friend and said “This kid is great.” That was the understatement of the year. David already belongs on a short list of the best singers of the past 50 years. When it comes to being the best person , there is no list. It’s just David. When I saw the video of David standing backstage waiting to perform at one of the Jingle Balls, and heard the “rap crap” that he had to follow, I thought to myself, “What is on the stage now is the disease, and David is the cure.” As you may have guessed by now, I love David Archuleta, and I know everyone here does too.
Bliss -- I guess we all have our list of special singers. For me, the only one from you list that would be on mine, is Barbra. She is up there with a few others on “my” very short list. However, in agreement with what you said, David does have that added dimension of “connection” and “heart.” That dimension is what I believe, puts him above any other current pop singer.
I agree on OHN -- it’s probably my favorite David performance so far. Not only do I love the “fall on your knees” part, I also love the transition to the next line, “oh hear the angels calling.” It’s perfection personified, and I can just listen to that part over and over continuously.
Well the kids are in bed, and I had to visit Rascal’s little present one, well maybe two, or three…. more times, to get my mind right. Good night all and Merry Christmas.
It’s sad really. I’ve been watching and listening to Christmas shows all evening.

Ninaf, Barbra is probably the best singer, on a technical
basis, ever. However, although I admire her wonderful talent, and we both are nice Jewish “kids” from New “Yawk,” I just don’t connect with her on an emotional level. On the other hand, David, who could be my grandson, and couldn’t tell a blintz from a knish, feels like my soulmate and my best friend. This is the difference. David is the universal donor. He connects with people in ways that transcend age, gender, ethnicity, and nationality. He is the most human of beings, and people, whether they understand him or not, instinctively want to be around him because of the way he makes them feel. When I write about him, it makes me feel good. I feel good right now writing this.
It’s 1:10 AM so I will wish all you good people a very Merry Christmas today.
2;33 or so…I have been up this late since our children were babies and even now when the are all grown up. I am here savouring the moments by the tree and presents and the glow of the lights…I have played Santa for yet another year…everyone still in my thoughts and wishing you a holiday of memories…when you are this old you have a lot of memories!!

Of all the performers on the show, David has the BEST voice, bar none..well maybe Sarah Brightman is as good as David! haha! And I won’t even mention the AI winner’s perfomance…

Actually, Sarah Brightman isn’t as good as David, if you consider how long she’s had to develop her beautiful voice, the training etc, as compared to the time David’s been singing…so David is THE VOICE bar none!
I am so disappointed that everyone who watched the parade and who have never heard David sing a Christmas song missed hearing the most beautiful sound of Christmas coming out of the most beautiful young man living today!

bliss #197, I would make a distinction between rap that reflects the disease of current pop (I despise this year’s “In the Ayer” with a passion as the most loathsome rap song of all time and a sign of how commercialized so much of it has become) and rap that has more meaning, and which tries to accomplish something very different musically and culturally than what some of us music aficionados are inclined toward.
Still though, 99% of what you write I not only agree with, but has me jumping up and down purr-aising “Hallelulah!” to the heavens and proclaiming gosh that is so right!
bliss #201, yes, there is something about David as a person that lets me connect to him. And what’s amazing is that it doesn’t matter what genre of music it is -- it could be a soul-stirring message song like “Imagine,” or a slinky attitudy song like “Works for Me,” or witty R&B classic like “Shop Around,” no matter what it is we feel his joy and love for the music. We feel the emotion of the song whatever it is. In a world that tries to make us shut down our feelings, we get to remember who we are inside when we listen to music. And with David’s music he cuts us deep.
Some people “get” David Archuleta and other’s don’t. That’s still something I don’t quite “get” LOL. My first song was “Shop Around,” and when I saw that I was like “he’s alright.” But when I saw “Imagine” I “got” him. I think it was being able to “see” his soul, and to have that connection, that of music and of ourselves. I think that’s difference between “getting” and “not getting” him. It took the right song to unlock my soul. Everything else after that changed.

So I bougt Elvis Presley CD, sure thing I thought.
It was re-mastered from orig. recordings from 1957.

If there were an offer : ten Elvis against one David I would put my money on David.

I really don’t think he was there today. Also up on the site is the interview he did with Cook. This is the same interview where they told Cook they had run into a friend of his who had a question for him. It was David and as soon as Cook heard David’s voice he started laughing. The one where David asked what song was the hardest to recored and Cook said “a rock version of Crush” or something like that. David had been in for an interview a few days prior and they got him to record that question for Cook.

This last week with nothing new about David and not knowing where he is or what he’s doing has been really hard for us die-hard spoiled Archangels..
At least for me, cuz all my kids are grown so there’s not alot goin’ on like when they were little. It’s pretty stress free. And I thought it would be “nice’ not having to be on the net 24/7 for a week or so, giving me time to do some other productive things like, read or clean out my closets..haha! Didn’t happen..I still logged on, hoping to find something, anything new about David! Desperate? yes! Pathetic, ok, yes! Cra-zeh? you bet! And I have to keep reminding myself that he’s 18..but it’s about the VOICE, dang it! And I’m not the only one from the posts today! haha!

betsy #248, well, it looks like we can expect AI to have an “ice-out” policy in regard to Mr. Archuleta. They are actually being very stupid. Apparently they are smarting from what was probably David and Co’s rejection of 19 Management, and they think they can keep him buried while he still has had moderate but not a-mazing success. They might not even have him perform on AI next spring. We’ll see. But nothing they do will keep David’s star from rising, because David’s talent IS formidable and will have the last word, in the end.
This was their policy during AI7, and it’s gonna bite them in the ****.
Ronaldsf, I agree that AI is pretty stupid. However, the one thing that seems to surpass their stupidity is their greed. As you said, David’s star will continue to rise exponentially and pretty soon TPTB over at AI will figure it out that having David back on their show will bring in viewers, which means more ratings and advertising dollars for them. I would love David to tell them to get lost, but we know he’ll be kind and gracious and give a killer performance on the show.
I’m with SF…I really dislike AI now, but do recognize that the show introduced us all to David and that it had a significant impact on David growing up. But it actually hurts to watch those old AI performances now. I only watch material up to the first Imagine performance these days so have avoided clicking on many of the FOD links. Now I’m just looking forward to all the great things that are in David’s future.
SF--I lovvvve your video. I’m w/you on the vertically challenged end of things at 4’11″. I physically look up to a lot of people, but spiritually I look up to David. His honesty and integrity is most amazing. His beautiful way of radiating love and joy and patience, even in a difficult situation (like the interview when he was so sick during AI) is a lesson for me to work at learning. I wonder if he smiles even in his sleep? If I had a smile like that (genuine and from the hear), I would.

Juliebug 250 I didn’t miss your post! Thank you…finally something new for us starving fanatics! I wonder how recent that interview was; looks brand spanking new. Notice that David is looking more mature lately? It’s so nice to witness the daily changes of him growing up. He was so relaxed, confident and had an answer to everything, without hesitating or missing a beat. Loved the tidbits of the spanish songs he sang, too. Nice find!
Since we’re talking about ‘getting’ David I wanted to add that I made a friend online about a year ago in another board (not related to AI). We rarely discussed AI when it was on because of obvious reasons; she was a Cook fan and I was a David fan. I didn’t want to get into any arguments about how silly she was so we rarely spoke about AI or the Davids.
Fast forward to the present and I can’t stop gushing about David, even to her. Slowly I started sending her youtubes of David’s recent performances. She agreed that he was amazing! When I bought a stash of David’s CD for Christmas gifts, I decided the time was right. I would send her one for Christmas. Too late! She bought herself David’s CD as an early Christmas gift to herself! (By the way, she didn’t buy Cook’s! haha) Yep, she’s a real live convert. Since she hasn’t had time to play it yet, I decided to send her the youtube of “O Holy Night” (fullface David) I told her that it would restore her soul (a la the title of this post) since she’s been missing her Mom. Here’s her reply:
“Bebe: That was absolutely incredible. Thanks so much for sharing that with me! I still haven’t listened to my CD but I just ‘got’ it today from Santa! LOL! How wonderful that this young man’s gift can touch so many people!”

Really have mixed emotions about David returning to AI for a guest appearance. Part of me wants him to come back to ear piercing screams and cheers with a
standing-O and bring the house down, and the other part wants him to tell them that they can kiss their sorry arse (okay, more my words than his.) David’s involvement with this show has exposed them for the complete fraud that it is. If they do invite him to perform, you know it will be because they have decided to would be of great benefit to themselves, not for any appreciation or genuineacknowlegdement of David whatsoever.

There will be some ugly stuff coming out. David will be one of the few really GOOD things to come out of AI. So he really doesn’t have to say anything negative about AI..it’s gonna come out..the truth. It always does.
Of course David will make a guest appearance on AI..He’s the biggest Star to come out of AI, not in terms of sales, YET, but in popularity. And the new judge wrote a song just for David..so of course he will be asked to appear. Maybe David’s people will say, “Sorry, but he has a previous engagement..Like a world tour!” hahaha!
But, no. David will be happy to oblige not for AI, but for his fans, and when he does, that night AI may have the biggest number of viewers ever. We’ll see.

olemr2001 #274 I noticed that too and had to do a write-in. I had been putting Crush as #1 and ALTNOY as #2 as a write-in. Seems you can only do one write-in per vote, too. Grr…

Thank You Silverfox for your very interesting story abt what`s happening. I have heard some rumor`s about Paula leaving the show.
So I guess I have to widen my googeling. But there is not enough time for all that huh huh . Have to work daily to provide food and stuff we need to survive.
Wouldn`t it be nice if David`s music would be enough to nourish us. (My weight would be at least like 200 kgs or more) But I `d be very happy ,LOL.
Hopefully David will be performing at some AI show, and yes it would be nice if he sang together with the new judge.
Meawhile I will watch season7 again -- it is replayed here in my country.
I always thought there was something happening behind the scenes during the last few weeks season 7. There was a shadow hanging over the whole thing.
Oh. I don`t start to think it any more. It took a while for me to recover after the final. It was fine with David so I leave it there. But still….

Stella -- I honestly believe it was better for David not to win, not to be saddled with AI winner title. That being said, the whole thing still bugs me. All the manipulation from very early on in the season, mostly with David, but you know it happens with every contestant. Guess I was naive enough to believe there was some measure of honor involved. Reality says it is just that -- a reality show and the reality lies in ratings and financial gain. Period.
Something to look forward to…a new picture and story by rascal…Probably an 18th birthday layout would be nice…pics and all…Is that what you are thinking about rascal???
Speaking of birthdays, it is a good friend of mine’s today, and I sent her the “…happy birthday to Jon’s mom….” vid and she wrote back:

I’m sure there will be many people there, not just family. Re the phone call: I was so bummed because 4:30 when the call came in on my cell phone I was dashing around the house trying to get dinner on the table for 11 people…. Timing on that to have the vegetables and rolls hot at the same time is….well a challange. I did not even hear the phone ring…So, it went to voice mail and the first half of the message was cut off. So LOVELY of David to call his fans. I thought about calling back but- I think those get posted on his my space page and lol, I would be embarrased to have my messge posted.
I hope he was really not at a NY radio station and really has had some off to spend with the family & veg out.

Oh that is good news. I probably should not even utter this thought, but ( and it is probalby none of my business) but….. not only did I hope David would get a break, but I have been worried about the stress on the family and Lupe with Jeff being gone so much this past year. Got to be tough, like when a family member is overseas in the military. I worried all through AI about the pressure on David… now I worry about the strain of the busy schedule, strain on his voice, the germs he is explosed to , and his parents marriage! Just certify me…It is not as if I have nothing in my own life to worry about.
rae #297 -- I understand all the worries you mentioned and I loved when you said -- “it is not as if I have nothing in my life to worry about” -- awwww -- I know what you mean, yet David has become such a part of our lives how can we not worry about him just like we do for all those we love and care about!
Another little *David’s music* story.
I had to work on Christmas Day. I mentioned awhile ago that I burned a cd of all of his best performances of his christmas songs. If I was going to work that day, I was going to have my music playing. So once again, I hid a cd player in the christmas aisle of my store.
About 3 hours later. I walked down the aisle and something weird was going on. Three people, not together, were just standing there, looking in the direction of the hidden cd player. No one said a word, just listened. O Holy Night (tree lighting version) was playing and they just stood there, listening. For the whole song. Mesmerized.
I had to walk away -- the feeling started to overwhelm me.
He got to them. And doesn’t even know it.
rae..I think all David’s fans pro-buh-blee have had the same concerns on & off since the end of AI. But this isn’t new for the family. David & his dad did a lot of traveling before his Star Search days when they were trying to get David into the “business”. Its all in David’s journal he kept from those days. So mama Lupe has held the fort before. There have been many sacrifices made by the whole family, but they, better than anyone, know that David is very special and they know they have to share his gift with the world..I think it’s part of their belief system. To them, I think it’s not about monetary or material rewards. Those rewards are what WE, David’s fans want for him and his family for their sacrifices and for sharing David with us.
David’s dad is one of his managers, but I don’t know if that means he will always travel with David, especially now that David will legally be an adult. I don’t blame David for wanting either his dad or mom with him not because he “needs” them to hold his hand, but just to have someone who’s got his back, as he has said numerous times. David, I’m sure is not shy when it comes to following his convictions and will not go against what he knows is right for him…what works for him, works for him..haha! He is very much in control, I think,
except for the spur of the moment interviews..and he’s willing to do those to promote his album & videos. Bottom line, everything he has done and will do is ultimately for the good of his family and their future and for us, his fans.
