I Want to See David Here

Reading of the reaction by musicians to the $159 million, 22-month upgrade of Alice Tully Hall, part of Lincoln Center’s $1.2 billion renovation, I couldn’t help but long for the day when David will be recognized and appreciated for his vocal genius (and when the music he selects and writes conforms more closely to this dimension of his talent), and be invited to perform in places that cater to those who will by that time crave the kind of Archuexperience such venues offer.
I quite realize that those days are years away. David must surely cultivate his peer audiences (I guess), and have some fun exploring “who he is as an artist.” When his artistic oats sowing reaches its denouement, a singular focus will remain: The Voice.
Love you rascal!
“Fat, rich and buttery”
Yep, David would do well there. What a compliment to his voice.
Good morning Rascal.
Wouldn’t the VOICE sound so awesome here? Just thinking of it makes me giddy as a school girl! Ha! Ha! P.S. Rascal, good morning! Nice to “see” you!
Rascal! Nice to hear from you! My response to your commentary: and I hope at that time that this cougar-age fan is healthy enough to be in audience at such a show.
Josie, wanted to comment on one of your last comments in the Inaugural thread: you are so cute that I want a poster of you WITH David for my wall. Glad you got your w/d and glad you get to take your mom to the show. All is well in my Archuletafanworld today.
Hi Rascal. so nice to see you. Indeed Tully Hall would be perfect for David. Can you just hear an acoustic performance.??? The prospect gives me shivers.
Yes. Yes. And yes Rascal
As grand as the Tully Hall and as arresting as TheVOICE — that’s how you make your entrance!
Smiling ear-to-ear, now that you are here
Hi Rascal
I want to see David there too. What a heavenly experience that would be for him and for us.
Good morning to all
Hey Rascal! Thanks for the new thread! You are one hard-working guy. You have been missed.
I too am looking forward to the day when David comes into his own. Not as a pop star or teen idol. This journey we are all privileged to take with him will not end there. Somewhere down the road is a stage worthy of the Voice, fully realized. I hope I am around to witness that event and the adoration and applause he is destined to recieve the world over. I know in my bones, I did not contract a full-blown case of ODD for less than what will one day be described as the unsurpassed singer of our time. So I will go to every concert I can and love them all, and deal with the screams and being shoved in moshpits. For at the end of this restless road lies a magnificent stage. A hall filled to capacity. An expectant hush. And then…
Ladies and Gentlemen____Mr. David Archuleta.
Angelica…you gave me chills
Good morning, Rascal. You’ve been missed. And I concur. Of course, before he gets to the Lincoln Center, there is this business of performing for us NDers at our very own Fanvention/Private Concert. (Yes, still want to keep this idea alive and running.)
HG, the private concert idea FTW! We’ll keep the idea alive.
Rascal, nice to “see” you again. Hope all is well!
Rascal: Welcome back! Although I’m relatively still a newbie to your awesome site, let me tell you that you have quite a fan club! You must be one heck of a guy to be missed to this degree!
David Archuleta at Lincoln Center: that’s music to my ears! I’ve thought about it many times! One day soon!!!
And about that poster…nothing wrong with hanging it in my laundry room, is there? I mean next to the two other posters I already have hung up of others that I have at one time gone fangirly over in the past few years. Okay, I’ll call it my Wall of Men and be done with it. haha Good reason to do laundry!
how I love it when he is happy and having fun like these moments:

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Uw_M6ZbloQw/SYHYWpyBqDI/AAAAAAAAFuQ/cFF5MHw1kEk/s800/zdavid9.jpg
Rascal, one day David will be there! I get chills just thinking about it. Remember finally night and how beautiful his voice sounded. He was soaring and nobody could touch him, it was all about David! The great thing about this solo tour is that we get to see him in a club scene performance. I used to go to the LA clubs and just loved seeing the LA bands play. There is nothing like it, the experience is just amazing and I can just imagine how THE VOICE will sound.
Hi! I am one of those lurkers that never dared to write anything, but enjoy reading all the wonderful posts here. I am so excited about David’s concert days that I had to post. Erin, are you still there? Are you from the Salt Lake City area? Are you going to any of the concerts?
As usual, I’m lurking here and at other sites. Bringing this over –
Masterclass Lady’s comment re SLC auditions.
“Definitely no David Archuleta clones. That’s because they don’t exist. His talent is singular and extraordinary – it stands alone. That’s what makes him so special – that, plus his beautiful soul and spirit.”
http://masterclasslady.com/2009/01/28/vocal-masterclass-discussion-thread-for-american-idol-season-8-salt-lake-city-utah-auditions/
Wonderful thoughts for the future rascal and I don’t believe that it will be long before he is there…look at his past…
I was watching carefully for notification for presale tickets for Virginia Beach and saw nothing…Fortunately there has been a code word given for some presales by people here who have our backs…so to speak…and I appreciate that very much!!! I tried it today and presto…there were the tickets…the higher priced ones gone but it is a great place and his first historical appearance…
I had a look at ebay and some tickets are already around $175.00 or so for two…I wonder how many will show up on ebay for the Sandler Center after Friday…I bought two tickets and received row R…then two minutes later the best were row…V…Nice to have pretty good seats when we will be flying and driving for a day to get there…
Hey! rascal..glad to see you, if only just so you can give us a glimpse of what you wish for David and what we know will happen..in a few years. My favorite part of your post are these words…
“David WILL be recognized and appreciated for his vocal genius and be invited to perform in places that cater to those who will by that time crave the kind of Archuexperience such venues offer”. **sigh**
I think David has already written music that conforms to the dimension of his talent. He just hasn’t acquired the confidence yet to share. Shades of this is his “Somebody Out There”. Yes, he had “help” but he brought the song to LIFE. He can and has written songs like SOT..I just feel it!
He will never see or hear in himself what we see & hear and he may never understand why so many older people are so “into him”. Maybe that’s one of the reasons we are so “into him”!
Angelica..Yes, I got {{{chills}}} too!
“Ladies & Gentleman….David Archuleta, THE VOICE!”
And YES, we have to keep the Private Concert dream alive..cuz dreams DO come true!
I guess Erin is gone. Anybody from that area? I am new at being a fangirl, my husband doesn’t know what has possessed me over the past year, I have NEVER follow anybody the way I follow David. All I can think of is as everyone here agrees, it is THE VOICE that inspires and can’t get enough.
{{{Rascal}}} you have been missed! I’ve only experienced Lincoln Center via PBS but it seems perfect for that ideal Archuexperience you speak of.
I have a feeling that, eventually, David won’t need to tour — we’ll just all flock to wherever he prefers to sing, whether it be NYC, La Scala in Milan or a custom-built acoustically exquisite venue in Murray…. hmm, maybe they’ll need a sound tech…
“An Evening With David James Archuleta at Lincoln Center”
I can see the ticket in my hand already!
jr4DA – thanks for the iCarly pix. Does anyone else think that everyone else on that show looks fake and plastic and only David looks real?
I remember my first strong response to seeing/hearing David when he sang Shop Around: this young man is REAL. Everything next to him seems false and contrived.
I guess nobody from this area. Has anyone notice in the David Archuleta merchandise that the t-shirts, hoodies, etc. say David Archuleta 08-09 tour. Does that mean August 2009? It couldn’t be 2008-2009, because he hasn’t started his tour yet. Anybody? Maybe there is hope that he will come here and OTHER CITIES TOO?!!!!!
For HQ versions of the iCarly pix, use this link

Just change the # of the link’s last string — e.g. “01″ instead of “11″ — to see all 11 photos.
David’s smile just makes my day. Seriously. He is joy.
Hi Jess, I’m in California, so I’m going to the Pomona show. I’m so excited to see David again! Can’t wait
I have family in California. Where is Pomona?
Not far from Ontario Airport if you know where that is.
You can buy tickets on ebay for the Pomona concert for…$175.00…!!!!
my sisters live in Rancho Cucamonga. I know where the Ontario airport is.
Are they ALL sold out?
Rascal, so good to hear from you! You were missed.
As I read all of the comments today, I can just say “ditto” because all the sentiments expressed apply to me too. My husband comments from time to time that in the 30 plus years he has known me, I have never been so crazy about a singer. He’s right. David’s imperfections make him even more perfect. The song My Funny Valentine has a line that says: don’t change a hair for me, not if you care for me. That line sums it up for me. I hope I will be able to watch David and his career blossom over the coming decades.
Joner, when I saw your message:
“An Evening With David James Archuleta at Lincoln Center”
My heart stopped. I almost immediately jumped on Ticketmaster!
Snarky’s has hinted who the tour guitarist is. I can’t seem to guess. Maybe it’s the same guy they had before?
davidfanLIZ #22, I thought the same thing!
Freofan, I hope it is the same guitarist. I thought they might have been hinting at Daniel….
This made me laugh for some reason:
Removehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NuxWSoHt6Y
Unbelievable!
My husband teaches music grades K-12. He happened to be in a second grade class today and called me so that one of his students could repeat to me what she just said to him. He gave the phone to seven year old Rebecca who said: “Mrs……? I’m going to marry David Archuleta when I get bigger!”
From 7 to 77….David’s appeal is far reaching!!!
My high school graduation (eons ago) was at Lincoln Center. What an awesome place! I have no doubt that David will make it there one day, preferably in our lifetimes!
Angelica:
“For at the end of this restless road lies a magnificent stage. A hall filled to capacity. An expectant hush. And then…
Ladies and Gentlemen____Mr. David Archuleta.”
wow…just wanted to post that again. It’s worth repeating.
Jess, no way! I live in Rancho Cucamonga!!!
Freofan #33 With the picture of David playing guitar, I thought it might be David himself. I wasn’t thinking of an electric guitar player, but an acoustic.
TOfan:
That Soldier Boy video was very cool!
Does anyone know where the footage came from in that video with David wearing a purple tie and standing in front of shelves of very colorful files/video/dvds?? where he’s demonstrating something with his hands?
I don’t think I’ve seen that before?
Very clever video, though!
Going to force myself to try and get some work done here…
back soon!
I have been fighting a pretty bad cold (that is what happens to parents when they take care of sick children and don’t sleep for a whole week and a half), anyway, so I have missed where you find codes to get pre-sales. I tried getting tickets in Pomona ( a good excuse to visit my sisters), and it kept saying that what I am looking for is not there. Are tickets still available, or if the presale tickets are gone it means that they are ALL gone?
Thanks for answering Erin, that would be fun if I could get my sisters to go and meet you too!
Jess – the presale code for all of the tickets on ticketmaster is “Crush”. There seem to be tickets available – I was just checking it out.
Maybe I am doing it wrong. I will try again. Thank you Marlie7.
Jess, when you select Find Tickets next to the venue, it takes you to another screen where you need to put the word Crush in the blank field next to how many tickets you want.
Hi Everyone I am still hoping that once management sees how fast these venues sell they will look at the Nokia Theatre in NYC as an add on to the tour. Same type of general admission venue– hint hint!
Bebereader– my college graduation eons ago was at Lincoln Center!
Ooh, Nokia Theatre – perfect!
You are right rascal…we have much to look forward to!! We can appreciate David and what is happening now, but it is the future David that is far more intriguing! He grows so much during tours, his final performances with this upcoming tour should be quite revealing!
Rapture #40: Here ya go:
Removehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JkC3YoFnF0&feature=related
(just remove “Remove”)
Jess, I had heard that the pre sale tickets are sold out, 400 tickets, but the other 400 tickets go on sale tomorrow. That would be great to meet up with your sisters, hope they get to go.
I have been working into converting my sisters into angels, they DO like David, but are not committed to follow him like I do. For christmas I bought them a cd, and gifted my nephews with the album on i-tunes. I think I can convince them. Now, the most important part of it all would be convincing my husband(who would have to take time off to take of our children). Any good tips?
Regarding the pre sale tickets, I am pretty sure they are gone. I tried again and said to keep checking. I will check again on the date they go on sale.
Rapture #40:
Sorry, this one has better sound quality:

I just came back from picking up my children from school and guess what I heard on the radio? A Little too Not Over You!!! I guess all the requesting finally paid off.
TOfan – David is the perfect foil for you. He seems to have an endless variety of new shoes haha!!!
davidfanLIZ, LOL, and hats, which I love too!
jess, me too, ChumFM just played ALTNOY as #5 in their Top 5 at 5… first time I’ve heard it on the radio….yayyyyyy.
Hey Rascal, Lincoln Center, perfect.
For this year the Nokia would make me happy. I am glad that the tickets are being sold at such a rapid pace. I would not expect anything less.
Wonder if David has been practicing on the guitar. Wouldn’t it be something if he is the “secret” guitarist for his tour!
Funny story:
After taking my husband to the doctor today, we decided to go eat. As I was sitting with him, I overheard the couple in the next booth talking to their server. The man was saying “She has the biggest crush on him, you wouldn’t believe. She constantly drops his name into every conversation. And every day she has some sort of cute story about him”
Of course I thought of you know who.
Then he says – “honey, I never thought you’d be so madly in love with our President”!!
Tofan:
Thanks so much! I just downloaded it and will watch it later.
Just heard the door….gotta gooooooooooo!
Boy… Rancho Cucamonga is a popular place..my brother lives there!
betsey #58: Cute story! I would have thought the same thing as you
Now that I have my tickets for Infinity, I’m in seventh heaven and am practically wishing February to speed by.
Just turned on the radio to hear the end of ALTNOY!! Finally got on “my” station here in Utah–the dj was very upbeat with his remarks about it.
Bebe (36) – Did you graduate from Stuyvesant H.S. in NYC? That’s where my son attends, and his graduation is at Lincoln Center as well – Avery Fischer Hall!! I always thought that was crazy – not only that, his senior prom is at The Waldorf Astoria – they really go all out at his schooll!!
They have said that it looks like a first week sell out for Sandler Center…Virginia beach…
I was thinking today of what a ride we’ve been on with David since last year.
American Idol – week after week…months of superb performances, and then the finale….rug pulled out from under us…
A week of post-idol PR…rug pulled out from under us….
AI Concert Tour…months of bliss, seeing David almost daily….then, rug pulled out from under us….
CRUSH single/video release euphoria….rug pulled out from under us….
CD drops and thrilling promotional media coverage…rug pulled out from under us…
Jingle “Thingy” Tours with frequent David videos…rug pulled out from under us…
Followed by Utah New Year’s Eve, Hard Rock Cafe and Sundance performances, then…rug pulled out from under us…
I think Disneyland should name a ride for us…I’m just at a loss for what to name it
…but man, what a ride…
Wow, Joner. “An Evening With David James Archuleta at Lincoln Center” seriously brought tears to my eyes. I know it will happen. I once told a friend that I would love to see David at Carnegie Hall one day. She said, “are you for real? That kid will be forgotten in a year”. The nerve!! Unfortunately, she’s caught up in the age thing. I love her dearly, but I realize you really can’t change people who won’t open their minds or hearts to David.
Rascal,I am glad you’re back and support your idea of the Alice Tully Hall and what about seeing David performing at the most famous concert hall in the U.S:The Carnegie Hall, which seat about 2,800 people. That is my future archuvision.
Got this link from over at IDF: an interview with David! And who knew Jennifer Lopez is an Archie?
David is her “other man”:
http://billboard.blogs.com/jadedinsider/2009/01/idol-worship-catching-up-with-david-archuleta.html
HG – thanks for the link. Great interview. “Other man” – I love it!
Isn’t it interesting how we fans knew of David and Cook doing their solo tours soon, but it took this kind of media spin to make it into a “competition”?
http://www.hot995.com/cc-common/news/sections/newsarticle.html?feed=104650&article=4922130
*SMH.*
Bebereader #35 – I have some 5th graders (both girls and boys) who totally LOVE our David. I’m trying to figure out how to work his music into some lesson plans haha!
This kid-love for David doesn’t diminish him in my eyes. I think it’s great that he can be appreciated and experienced on a lot of different levels.
HG – Media spin might be great for David, but I selfishly don’t want anyone else to know about the tour until I have my tickets haha! I am freaking out a bit!!!
Good luck with getting tix, Liz!
Liz – I hear ya. I was totally freaking out on Monday night and couldn’t even sleep thinking about the pre-sale tickets for Chicago. I was up looking at the clock every hour. Luckily, I got tickets. FREO and I are so excited. We are staying downtown and making a weekend out of it!
HG – thanks!!!
and thanks Joner! I know that it will all work out!
Thanks HG for the link. What a good interview.
*her other man*
She’s a fan!
RAscal… good to hear from you…
I’m going to enjoy this part of David’s career but do dream of the day he can perform in a beautiful venue…Angelica your post
“So I will go to every concert I can and love them all, and deal with the screams and being shoved in moshpits. For at the end of this restless road lies a magnificent stage. A hall filled to capacity. An expectant hush. And then…
Ladies and Gentlemen____Mr. David Archuleta.”
I had to copy it again too… chills, and we will all be there.
Bebereader, I loved your story about the future Mrs. Archuleta.
And, yes, I agree: Angelica’s post is one for posterity in the Archuleta world. So moving.
Freofan — I came up with Mike Krompass, who has been a session guitar player for years and who fits the description of someone whose music we love. (Somebody Out There, ALTNOY) I hope it’s him. I hope he tours with David and they write together and David sings SOT. But MK is just my guess, of course, so I’m trying not to get too excited at the thought.
I have a very good hunch that David will be singing SOT on tour.
AWWWHH! Freofan- Do you actually think he would do Somebody Out There for us on this tour? Wow! all of sudden my mind is switching from a 55 year old somewhat level headed respectable female thinking of David as a “masterpiece of artistic talent” to this fangirl who would stand there with her mouth agape staring like a fool needing to be led out of the venue to her car and having to have her daughter called to pick her up. Another otherwise mature sensible woman rendered speechless and unable to function. Yeah, I can see that actually happening. OMG!
Ram – You’ll have lots of company…trust me!
Yes, Joner. Suddenly, I’m wondering if it was smart for me to offer to drive. Wondering if I’ll be able to get us home even the next day, if I hear David Archuleta singing THAT song.
Man.
(Not getting excited. Not getting excited. Not.)
“us” meaning me and my Archuleta fan buddy. See? I’m already spazzing and senseless.
HG..Looks like you’re feeling a little better? Hope so!
When is the competition FINALLY going to be over? Or will it ever?
And did David say he hasn’t been approached to be a guest on AI? Not yet, anyway? And if he isn’t invited? Will David’s die-hard fans continue to support the show by watching it twice a week? Well, if he is FINALLY invited..that will be the second time I’ll have watched..the first was the Louisville auditions..which was a waste of time for me..no one even came close to being on David’s level..and no one ever will..Thank you very much!
I am happy the David’s tour seems to be geared to his ADULT fans..I know there will be plenty of tweens & young teens at some of the venues..but most of the venues are bars and will be selling alcohol, not all, but most. And they are not all “pretty” venues either..they are moshpit types, and look dumpy in the daytime. I know David will gain many new young adult fans after seeing David in concert. There’s gonna be some OMGoshes! or more likely HOLY Sh%T! at all the venues by those who haven’t seen David in person in concert expect the “little guy from AI”.. SURPRISE!!
As for a band..I know that some newcomers who don’t have a regular band, hire local top musicians from each city to back them in concert. The musicians hired get the sheet music to practice, then on the day of the concert, the artist & musicians do a rehearsal & sound check..and it works. The are so many excellent musicians in just about very city who make their living by backing performers in concert. So anyway, maybe this is what David will do if he doesn’t have a regular band assembled…I guess we’ll see come Feb 24th!
I just bought tickets for my sis & I for the Grand Sierra Theater in Reno! Can someone please explain to me what the heck I am doing?? But I’m flying to NM anyway,
to see David in a moshpit..may as well go a little further
and see him in a “pretty” venue..actually it looks beautiful! Hope David is staying at the resort as well…hmmm, They have elevators there too…
I dunno what I’m doing? He’s got me goin’ in circles..
ram, I am about 90% confident that he will do SOT.
Hi Rascal!
It’s good to have you back, even if for a brief post.
# 80 Freofan
Any hunches for Waiting For Yesterday? I can’t stop listening to this one. It’s just perfect! One of the posters on YouTube says ‘I will die for sure if he sings this song in concert next month!’ So whatever he sings, there’ll be casualties. We’re happy victims to David’s voice
Freofan- So what you are saying is that by the time he gets to the SCout Bar in San Antonio Texas he will have perfected slaying hundreds of us unsuspecting fans with SOT. Hummm, I might need a driver for that night or at least put my daughter on call for the evening.
My dream concert setting is still in the mountains, either Deer Valley or Park City, Utah. But, after feeling how vivid Angelica’s introduction was, I too have chills.
Jess – are you a fellow Utahn? I’m from the West Valley area. I’m hoping & praying (fingers crossed) that I can get tickets.
DavidfanLIZ #72 – I feel the same way. Everyone go away, until I get my tickets! lol
From reading all over the Archu-universe, it sounds like the Idaho Falls show may sell out in record time. Due to my night shift, I’m still asleep at 10Am. But trust me, for this I’m setting the alarm.
Ram, that’s right. He would have a little help on SOT, though. Sorry I am being so cryptic!
Miranda on David:
‘Hey! How are you guys?? I’m just on set right now and I wanted to write a quick blog
. Some really fun stuff has happened the last few days. First, on Sunday I got to spend the whole day with David Archuleta. He is in an episode of ‘iCarly’ thats going to be on February 7th so we filmed a Teen Nick special together. The special is called ‘Crush Night’ and all the episodes of shows on Nick that night are going to be crush themed! Not only did David host the night with me but he also performed his hit song ‘Crush’! He was seriously amazing! I couldn’t believe how great he was and I’m glad I voted for him so many times when he was on ‘American Idol’ haha. Also it’s just always fun to get to see him because he’s so nice and fun to hang out with.’
I guess it’s official: she’s in love with David.
And she wants to duet with David, too? How many will he be recording?
Freofan- So, he and ? would have had time to work out any kinks for the latter part of the tour. And you know this because you have esp? ???? Cryptic . . smishtic… I know you can do better than that. Now for sure I know I am gonna die out there on that dance floor and it will be because I was not- (SHOUTS OUT) !!!!PREPARED!!!!!
cutter12
I am a fellow Utahn too! I was very dissapointed when I found out that David’s tour doesn’t include Salt Lake City, Park City or any of the surrounding areas.
My husband would not commit into babysitting our children, YET. I am optimistic that I can convince him into letting me go to one of David’s concerts.
Is anybody going to the Idaho Falls concert? I just checked and one company was selling tickets for that show in the 200 dollar range. My goodness!! That can’t be the real price for those tickets! or is it?
valbraz..everyone who spends any time with David falls in love with him..there’s just somethin’ about him…
Dear rascal..in case you check in on us, I want to say..
So glad you came home for a while. I think you have so much you want to say about David’s concert tour, all the Florida promos, 5 now, ( which I’m stumped about..but what do I know.) And the Crush nite thingy and the iCarly TV appearance..I am so interested in your insights about what’s going on with David. I wonder if you’re agreeing with everything AZOFF has had David doing or not..methinks not..BUT I may be wrong, so why don’t you take a little more time off from the rigors of hard work & come give us more of your wondrous wisdom and insights on David’s professional life and if you feel he’s being guided in the right direction? Are you smiling or frowning?? Are you happy or sad for David at this time in his life. I imagine you’ve been on a hectic work schedule, working hard. But we really miss you! There are times when we don’t even know what to post but we post anyway, cuz we NEED this place, we need your warm house, our home away from real life. Where we are all of one mind..our love, hopes & dreams for David The Voice. And we need YOU, our WORD GURU! We need to share the excitement we feel about seeing David in concert again..not exactly THE LINCOLN CENTER yet..but it’s a start…What I’m trying to say with my rambling is..we MISS you
and hope we don’t have to go 2000 posts this time before you come home again!
Goodnight everyone! For David..
Dear Lord, Though we are unworthy to ask,
Please take Care Of David. Watch over him, Protect him from all harm. Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path. Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give. Surround David with loving and supportive people who love him UNCONDITIONALLY as we, his ARCHANGELS do. Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being. Give him rest when he’s weary. Give him stamina to sustain his hectic pace. Give him assurance when he feels doubt. Give him joy when he feels sad. Cloak him always in your protective arms. Keep David healthy & strong as he fulfills his Destiny which was written in his Book of Life before he was born.
Though we may be unworthy, we humbly pray.
Amen.
Sweet dreams! Be safe & secure in our love always! Take care. You will always be numero uno in our eyes! Thank you for all you do and for just being you!
CONTIGO SIEMPRE CON AMOR!
SF – sweet dreams!!
And I think rascal will return when his work load in the real world eases a bit. I bet he misses us too!!
Ninaf #63 I didn’t graduate from Stuyvesant High School but several of my friends did. The graduating class was huge the year I graduated high school and my school auditorium wasn’t large enough to accommodate a class of that size so we went to Lincoln Center instead. What a treat, I must say!
davidfanLIZ #71 I totally agree with you when you wrote:
“This kid-love for David doesn’t diminish him in my eyes. I think it’s great that he can be appreciated and experienced on a lot of different levels.”
But how many other artists can we say the same thing about? Funny but I can’t think of anyone else right now who has such universal appeal as our David.
Nite all..
Jess, the tickets to Idaho Falls concert I think are $20. I’m so bummed, my husband said he would go up there w/me, (he really does humor me in my ODD) but we will be on the road headed for south eastern Utah at 10:00 Sat. morning. This is when I wish I had a laptop. Maybe my daughter will get online for me. Dang it! Why can’t he do some Utah thingys?!! Even Neil Diamond did Utah. Let’s hope for a summer tour here. Okay?
All the excitement over David’s solo tour is absolutely palpable on all the sites now and it’s just gonna get more intense! So many fans from all over hooking up and making plans to meet for the first time after connecting online for months. Soon the tour will be underway and the videos will start to roll in. Not of 3 or 4 songs, but idk, 10..12? Whoa!!!! Fasten your seatbelts, peeps, we are in for a wild ride! I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it!!!
He will get there. For now the Solo tour will be enjoyable for all us fans who are having our Dave crave. ;-Þ
Hey everyone! Just checked out the iCarly interview link from above – and Miranda’s blog. Both very sweet!
I’m really getting more & more excited with every passing hour about seeing David in a small venue (Sayreville).
Just have to make sure we all get there before the doors open. Wonder if these shows will be flooded with (other)crazy fans.
YIKES! I just realized that this show is only the 2nd on the tour! And the FIRST without reserved seating…oooh nooo, we’ll have no reference to know what to expect and how early to show up. Double YIKES!
Anyone have an opinion about how early to show up? How about those of you who went to the Albany show? Wasn’t that a similar “open seating/standing” situation?
If it appears as though I’m freaking out a bit, it’s just because I am.
I have something fun to relate…
My 14 year old daughter is having a Superbowl party this Sunday (15-20 friends) and guess what they’ll be playing…yes! You guessed it~ Apples to Apples!
One more thing: When my kids have parties, we usually keep a marker by the cups and have the kids write their name, draw a picture or somehow personalize their cup, so we don’t end up with a sea of half empty cups around the house.
Anyway, my daughter decided that she would pre-mark stacks of cups with names of famous entertainers. Guess whose name is on one of those cups!
Wow, you guys are great guessers! It just warms my heart to see “David Archuleta” on a plastic cup in my daughter’s handwriting!
So
yes,
I
have

rascal, it’s great to see you pop in even for a few short minutes. I hope things are well with you. Are you also working on your Brooklyn book too? Just wondering out loud… Take care and come back soon.
I’ve been too busy too to post and have not gotten any tickets yet so don’t want to talk about where I’m going so I’m not jinxing anything!! But I’m excited and spazzing and wish I could go to a ton of shows so I don’t have to choose!
Anyway, see you guys later.

I e-mailed you with a crazy suggestion for our pre-show fanvention. Please let me know what you think.

Hi everybody. I haven’t forgotten about you, and my love and respect for our 18 year old friend is still alive and well. I too look forward to the day when David can perform at the top of his skill at a venue like this. Unfortunately, that day is probably a few years away. Had David been born 60 years ago, when music was sung by adults, for adults, and the “record” buying public was not dominated by teenagers, he would already be the respected singer he will eventually become.
Everything changed in the mid ’50s, when the baby boomers were becoming teenagers and could afford to buy a record by Elvis, the Platters, or Fats Domino. The target audience was no longer Mom and Dad, it became
their kids. The singing stars were no longer Eddie Fisher
and Jo Stafford. It was Elvis, Ricky Neslon, Annette, Fabian, and Danny and the Juniors.
No one loved those days more than I did. I saved up my 88 cents and ran down to the Melody Music Store on White Plains Rd. in the Bronx where I grew up and bought the latest .45.
Now, it’s 2009, and we have David Archuleta causing all this commotion and people not quite knowing what to do with him. He’s young, he’s cute, and he sings like there’s no tomorrow, but he’s not like the other singers of his generation. He looks like Bobby Vee, but he sings like Vic Damone, only better. He makes grown men like me weep, and grown women , well, you know….
The media is at a total loss because they can’t pigeon-hole him, which makes them nervous. I anxiously await the future for David. He has weathered the storm of 2008 with grace, humour, and a maturity that cannot be described. His talent and appeal is Elvis-esque already, and he appears to be immune to the seediness of the music industry.
This solo tour should propel him to the next level and get him closer to where he and all of his true fans want him to be. For me, it’s more songs like “Somebody Out There”, and more of his original compositions. I don’t care how young he is or how cute he is. Speaking for myself, it’s still all about his magnificent singing and his healing , joyous heart.
Jess & Tawna21- I’ll keep my fingers crossed that everything will work out for both of you.
(I’m also crossing fingers for a show or two here in Utah.)
I also heard the concert tickets are $20. Though on one fansite, there was a claim that someone was selling tickets to the New Jersey concert for $170 on Ebay.
Iamblisskasden ! Its great to hear from you again.
And Rapture, I can tell you’re in a great mood. Pink Floyd, huh?
Pax and goodnight.
Wow bliss:
“I don’t care how young he is or how cute he is. Speaking for myself, it’s still all about his magnificent singing and his healing, joyous heart.”
AMEN!
Yep, cutter, Pink Floyd fan! Really prefer Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here, but sometimes the Wall (which was the tour I saw) just fits the moment!
He is such a flirt!
http://i41.tinypic.com/34ya1c8.jpg
And i love him just the same, if not more. GAH.
HELLO everyone! SO, all warming up for the solo tour? Have you secured your tickets now? Have you? Have you? Have you? Remember what each of the promoters repeatedly announced – this one will be sold out!
JOSIE – yay, you are going, I see!!! Hubby & Mum FTW!
RASCAL – I wonder if you will be able to join any of the scheduled performances? Hope you could find some time to do so and hopefully, on one with most of the NDers in attendance. Right there, you would have your 1st mini-fanvention! Albeit with screaming, unfortunately.
This is really difficult for me trying to communicate to others in different time zones. Am always late to the Ball – usually after everyone has gone home (to bed). If possible, would love to hear others perspective on attending concerts – esp the mosh type. Do you show up early in the am for the pm show? Are souvenir type items (programs, posters, whatever) available to purchase or should one purchase in advance? If so, where? I’ve seen someone mention posters (to display on the ceiling). This is just so exciting; not sure what to expect, though. A little help for someone’s first time.
Does anyone know if tickets to Tempe, AZ are available on presale? If so, where? how? when? I think it would kill me if I missed this opportunity – HELP, please?
Hey fandaforever! I’m up early – woke up from a dream (don’t remember the details except that David wasn’t in it) and decided to go online.
When I went to the Albany show, I showed up an hour before the first act was to perform. Because David was the last act, I decided not to show up hours earlier than I needed to. But in a general admission type setting, I would make that decision based on whether or not you have to be close to the stage. If you want to be right by the stage, show up hours in advance, because, yes, the tweens and teens are definitely going to be camping out.
At the Albany venue, CDs and posters were sold, but mostly of the other acts – not David.
Things might be different since David is the main act? Depends on how organized each local venue is.
Bliss! So cool to hear from you again. You’re right. Music (at least pop music) hasn’t been the same since the baby boomers proved their marketing viability since the teen years.
But, does that mean David has to be a “teen star”?
I’m going to go back to Rascal’s point. Reading between the lines – you know how I am about subtext
– should I assume that you’re none too pleased with all this iCarly (‘cept they do make a really cute couple! Davinda FTW!!) and solo tour stuff?
David must surely cultivate his peer audiences (I guess)…
I hear what you’re saying. I mean, I completely get why this is the path Jive/Azoff are taking with regards to David’s career. But I do think this is failure of imagination on the part of his label since, as Bliss pointed out, “we have David Archuleta causing all this commotion and people not quite knowing what to do with him.”
I go back to what I once said, in which I hope David will eventually emerge as a male version of Alicia Keys with broader appeal. David is a wonderful mix of multiple identities – Latino, Mormon, teenager who appeals to tweens/teens, teenager who appeals to mature adults, a singer of pop tunes yet a singer of “soul.” A creative and imaginative label/manager should have a field day in plotting out his musical trajectory.
But all I see going on are “safe” choices. Which, understandably in an economy that’s going belly up, I get the rationale for safety, but that’s not going to work. Believe it or not, when things are looking pretty bad, now is the time for risk-taking, not safety. David is a very unique artist, and an imaginative person should be able to craft an exciting career for one such as he.
This is David, who’s got older women (and men) paying airfare and hotel (in a crashing economy no less!) to see him live – even when they’ve seen him live on numerous occasions. This is David, who inspired a popular artist like Natasha Bedingfield to kiss him on TV and who’s got pop icons like J-Lo calling him her “Other Man.” I’m sure we realize all this isn’t just because he’s a young cute guy. I mean, he is, but when he opens his mouth to sing … he kills it! And he kills us!
That kind of mad talent is definitely worthy of gracing a $2-billion-dollar venue like the Lincoln Center. We die-hard David Archuleta fans already know this. I guess we (at least Rascal?) just need confirmation from the folks who’re managing him that they too know this.
Good (early) morning everyone!
Thanks HG. Hope you’re feeling better – sounds like you’re back to your genuine & honest self. Recently went to your site – Diary of an Anxious Black Woman. Alot of interesting & intriguing articles/threads (?? not sure of the correct online verbage, yet). You are so articulate & able to simply get the point across.
Don’t think I need to be up front with the tweens/teens but did you position yourself off to ones side or just in the back. My vision isn’t the best though I’m sure just hearing the Voice live will be all I need. Just wouldn’t want the distraction of any background noise like at Sundance. Then I might have to start pushin my way up front – just kidding of course. Though not petite, I am only 5’2″. Wouldn’t want to get buried by the taller average height fans either.
Hi Morning All,
HG it IS too early in the morning and I am getting dresses for work but to some extent – the blame for this goes both ways – David and us
I say this because the trajectory we have for David is not necessarily the one he sees for himself. For one – Davod still doesn’t fully GET what we love about his talent. He still hears himself as a weasy, gaspy talent while our experience is of tears, chills and goosebumps. He hopes “to sing like Marc Anthony some day” while its the other way around. MA should only hope the one day he can sing and be as charismatic as David.
So for me – it begins with the man in the mirror. David needs to learn that talent-wise he is worth SO much more than a pop act. I mean he IS really the total package – looks to die for, a voice to make grown folks weep, and a personality…….OMG…..his charismatic personality is off the charts. ANYONE who meets him – simply wants more – Charise, Miranda, Shontelle, Lady Gaga………….And So It Goes
My question to all this is can they promote what he may not want for himself as yet? I am sure David has some say in all this promotion. I do not think he is a total puppet. Does he even believe that HE is worth a Carnegie, Lincoln or in a strip mall?
Good morning HG…I woke up early as well and as you…decided to go on line…still sleepy though but after a few tosses and turns got up and found my way to the livingroom to my pc…Crazy but good way to start the day…
Sorry for all the typos. I should be heading out the door but where am I? With David
.
Good Day All!
Good morning joymus…enjoyed your morning thoughts!!!
Thank You Sandy!
We can only hope that the news of high demand for tour tickets will go some ways in convincing David that people really do want to hear him sing and we cannot possibly EVER get enough.
OK – I really have to go. I am 10 mins behind schedule.
Fandaforever, my 11 year old concert buddy pushed her way through the crowds (it was amazing to watch how she negotiated her way closer to the stage), while I followed, then chose a position toward the side of the stage and close to the sound system (that’s why the audio on my vids are so clear) since it was near the exit door. It was all good.
Joymus, I agree with you that all this starts with “the Man in the Mirror” (how much do you wanna bet David loves this song too?). And if I ever got to meet David in person, I would give him a playlist featuring an “amazing vocal genius that he soooo has to listen to” (and if he plays my playlist, he’ll be stunned to discover it was a complete David Archuleta playlist). Seriously, if he actually listened to himself sing, he might get what all the fuss is about! ha ha!
I wanted to tell him, when he said of Jim Morrison on his blog, “I didn’t know white people could sing like that!” I guess you really don’t hear yourself, do ya’ hon?
So, yeah, I agree David also needs to get on board with the rest of us in recognizing his greatness. That wouldn’t make him an egotistical “diva,” but it would certainly allow him to know his true worth.
Since folks are asking, yes, I feel much better! Just in time for the weekend!
Before I forget – has anyone seen chickee lately? I know she lives somewhere near me and I’m hoping she’s going to the Northampton, MA concert on 3/2. Chickee????
I’m going to investigate lodging in Northampton since it’s a 2+ hour drive…my momma doesn’t want me driving home too late and besides, I think she wants to do a roadtrip!!! At 77 she’s such a fan!
Well, it’s my first day of unemployment….so far so good
I’m so glad we have, in the absence of the great Word Guru rascal, the likes of Bliss & HG to help us make sense of the craziness we are going through over this teenage sensation, David The Voice.
Bliss, I recall those days in the fifties..went to see my first idol, Elvis in Love Me Tender at the Sunshine Theater when I was 10 yrs old, now 50 yrs later (ouch!), I’ll be seeing David, the Idol I have been waiting for to emerge all these years after Elvis, at the SAME theater LIVE, in person..Un-Buh-Lee-Va-Bul!! What?? It’s Cra-zeh!
HG..In this trying economy..I feel guilty when I call Ticketmaster for tickets, call the travel agency for the best flights, etc..I think to myself..what the heck am I thinking? And I do it anyway! If I was 30-40 instead of 60..I may think twice..but at the end of the day, life’s too short and getting shorter for me..so I am going for it!
joymus..you may be gone already, but what you said is probably pretty much on the money..David doesn’t KNOW how very talented he is and he, more than anyone, needs to “GET” himself, know what I mean?
Have a great day!
SF, have fun! I wasn’t criticizing your choice, I was just reminding everyone that David is pretty special to have us behaving in this way, you know?
To me, it was further evidence that David isn’t just another “teen star.” He’s the real deal!
And, yes, both David and his peeps need to realize that his special something has longevity that goes beyond being simply a pop teen idol.
HG.. oh I know..my comment was more of a justification to MYSELF! ya know? Everything you said was right on!
Oh and I really let out a “ARE YOU KIDDING ME?” when he made that comment about James Morrison! I thought he really doesn’t listen to himself! hahaha!
Good morning, all.
It is back to the real world for me today. After having four days off and all access to David 24/7, I know I will miss this.
Have a great day everyone!

“the trajectory we have for David is not necessarily the one he sees for himself.”
I remember reading The Story section of David’s AOL sessions and he says “I don’t wanna get too into the world of entertainment and media”
hmm I think whatever he chooses to do, wherever he chooses to sing we will all be there…small venue, large, football field of a high school even. And years from now when his fan base is bigger and broader than ever and still following his every move, he just may think, maybe I am that good.
BTW Go back to listen to You Can on AOL sessions. Made me a blubbering mess
how does he do that
Good morning! My first post! I have enjoyed so much the love for David expressed at ND. There is a remarkable unity of expressions and experiences found here that helps me accept my ODDness for this extraordinary soul called David. I live in northeastern NC and will be going to the VA Beach performance and I am bringing two friends with me who have never seen THE VOICE. I was not able to go to the Charlotte, NC show last year and I didn’t know if I would ever have another chance to see David in concert. But, now, WOW! If there are NDers going to the Va Beach performance and would like to meet me and my friends, give me a shout. We will be in center orchestra, row H…Good things really do come to those who wait.
So nice to hear from you again, Blisskasden. I agree 100% with everything you said about David. That’s part of the problem the media has with him; they don’t know what to do with him, how to label him and I don’t think Jive knows, either. Because he’s a handsome, talented teenage boy a lot of people write him off as a passing teen idol whose fans (almost all female) will eventually outgrow him and that will be the end of him. But we all know that David is ANYTHING BUT. He’s here to stay. How many 18-year-old singers had many fans who were old enough to be their mothers? Not many! There is just something about David that we all love, it goes beyond his looks, his personality, is youth, his talent. Jeff said in an interview this summer that music has many levels beyond what we hear and that David connects on a spiritual level and when he sings a song he “connects” with (such as “Imagine”) what is happening is that his spirit is communicating with our spirits and making listeners “feel” what the song is about and that this gift of “connection” (and it is a gift) has been present in David since he was around six years old. He doesn’t strive for it; it just happens. That’s why Paula was in tears after “Imagine,” that’s why the country sat up and took notice of David and the publicity began. I’ve been listening to music for 50 years and have many favorite artists–Patsy Cline, John Denver, BeeGees, Frank Sinatra, Linda Ronstadt, Karen Carpenter, Barbra Streisand, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Celine Dion, Motown artists and the Beatles, to name a few. But NONE of them makes me feel the way David Archuleta does. Once David gets to you, you are hooked for life and I feel honored and priviledged to have come across him and been “singled out” for ODD. My sister-in-law likes him but doesn’t feel the same way I do. So us “David lovers” are a chosen bunch and eventually I think the rest of the world will catch on. For everyone that knows who David is, there’s millions more that don’t. I am saddened that Cook’s CD is still high on the charts while David’s dropped but I have to remember that 99% of the people that purchase his CD are females (whereas boys and girls buy Cook’s music) and that many fans aren’t even buying CDs anymore–they downloading all the music. I hope the Archuletas are making some money on the sales and the personal appearances because things aren’t easy in the music industry nowadays. David is slowly winning people over and hopefully this upcoming tour will help. I am thrilled to be able to go and see him in Richmond on 25 Feburary. I would have preferred Virginia Beach but I have a class that night, it’s 25 miles more to drive and the tickets weren’t going on sale until today at 11 a.m. and I won’t be home and I’m afraid they might sell out before I can get back to my computer at 9 p.m. tonight. Richmond had a pre-sale and for $35, I think it go the best deal. I just saw Celine Dion and it cost me almost $100 (like she needs the money!) and I couldn’t even sit through the whole concert because I had to be up at 4:45 a.m. the next morning! I have found no other DA fan on any website who is going to Richmond but I am so looking forward to the trip as I never leave the area at all and I’m going to be surrounded by people who feel as I do. We are truly one of a kind.
Rascal, sorry I stayed away so long. I really love your website, it’s one fo the best.
Time to start my day. . . .love you all!

You reminded me of one of my all time favorite songs: I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack…here’s a piece of the lyrics
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they’re worth taking
Lovin’ might be a mistake
But it’s worth making
Don’t let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)
I hope we all choose to dance
The talk of the concert reminds me that I need to head to a sporting goods store and get my good hunter’s earplugs to block out the other act just in case it sounds like a bunch of noise compared to David. Seriously, though, if the other act is very loud, I will need ear protection as I find the volume level uncomfortable at many concerts. But I’ll remove said earplugs for David!
Good stuff shared this morning! I love this site. Sigh.
But I gotta get to work, so until next time!

Hi Ralph, welcome!!! And Josie, your mom sounds so very cool!
Tough catching up, so many great posts (Joner, Disney ride, hahaha, how bout the ArchuRockNRoller Coaster) but gotta go too….
TOfan, GREAT guess on MK.
Just read on Fanblast that they are expecting the shows to be sold out in the first hour of sales…how many tickets could there be left anyway after presales? I don’t know how it works but found out after watching for presales that Virginia beach did have a presale…I could have had great seats…but should not complain…dang it no complaining…I say to myself!!!
And they think that why?
Because fans are hopping on planes and driving long distances in the snowy Northeast and elsewhere to see David?
Because every celebrity site has David’s Tour featured up front and other major stars further down on the site?
Because the venues are getting inundated with calls and emails from people with David Archuleta questions?
Sily assumption
Marlie
My husband really loves me. He agreed to a weekend in Chicago in the winter so I could go to the HOB concert…I just got my tickets…I live in NJ haha
OK…Here I go again, stirring the pot.
As always, let me begin by saying that I LOVE DAVID ARCHULETA, that I firmly believe he has a wonderful gift and that I understand the great devotion that the ND fans have for him. BUT…
I, for one, have a lot of trouble with the way many NDers view Archie’s (and his Peeps) choices about his career. Even though, I am sure, that David loves his mature fans we are not his prime target. If we were then his first album would have been full of ballads and Adult contemporary sounds. David wants to relate to KIDS his own age. He wants to be a POP STAR! He wants to grow up with his generation, not be a member of ours. He could have followed the Josh Grobin, or Michael Buble path but he chose not to. He tried, so many times on idol, to infuse his performances with young relevant Pop Sounds. My favorite performance is still “Shop Around” and that was the Archie that he really wanted to be…not the David that got saddled with the description of great balladeer.
In the music industry there is a long history of very successful entertainers that matured with their OWN GENERATIONS. Those who continual changed their songs and performances as they aged. Why is it that we are uncomfortable with allowing David to conduct his career the same way? Frank Sinatra, Elvis, the Beatles all started by singing for the bubble gummers. As they matured their songs became more “Adult”. As they matured their songs became more introspective. Their “core” audience grew up with them and they were still able to attract an ever expanding growing fan base.
Nothing David does, no choices he makes are “beneath” his abilities. He isn’t sabotaging his own career by starting as a Pop Singer. Each tour, each album, every future song will be different, more mature, more confidant. I’m happy to be along for the ride.
David’s picture on page with upcoming tours that include Elton John and Billy Joel.

Tess #139 I don’t don’t most of us want David to be a Josh Groban or to miss growing with his own generation. I think we just don’t want him to get labeled and boxed in as a “pop-cutie” when his talent is deeper than that. Young celebrities have a particularly hard time growing out of their initial image.
I love David’s pop sound, his whole album. I also want him to have the freedom to develop his own style. So, I’m not so much in a hurry for it, just want to know that as he grows and matures, he will be allowed to break out of the mold – because he is capable of it. We’ve already seen him rework a song and make it into something unique. I just want him to have all the freedom to continue to put his own spin on his music and to be taken seriously by the music world.
Tess – #139:
You are interpreting our desire for a more individual approach to David’s musical and career choices as something generational. We are not making that distinction, you are. No one here has ever said that David should start singing the American songbook standards, or that he should select music similar to Josh Groban or Michael Buble — indeed and in fact, those of us here who share these views rejected outright and early any such comparisons of either style or career direction to those artists. Furthermore, no one here is against the idea that David should cultivate his peer audience. Our issue is that he should do it on his own terms, as a unique and individual artist, and not–as it appears Jive wants—as this year’s standard, middle-of-the-road pop fare performer. Our position on his peer group is that they are on the whole more sophisticated than the conventional, bottom-line focused music industry gives them credit for. Our view is that David is being too limited by the frameworks set out by Jive, in particular, and that he ought to pursue what feels right for him, wherever that may lead–and regardless of whether it seems “commercial” or not. As for what David wants, your presumptions in this regard are misguided. David himself has admitted that he doesn’t yet know “who he is as an artist,” and is most decidedly in an exploratory phase. We only wish that those explorations were allowed to be broader and deeper than it seems his label is inclined to allow.
Woot! Glad to see a post from you, Rascal! Hope life lets up on you a little bit.
Hi Rascal : )
I had a feeling that Tess’ 139 post would get comments from you. You are very much missed. Glad to have you home and prepare for the avalanche of greetings to you. It would be nice to meet you in Sayreville. Just sayin
I have serious ODD for David. I am not some teeny bopper here but yet a 47 year-old woman who can’t stop checking every fansite at least once a day to see what’s new with David. I thought I would just write down the reasons why I absolutely LOVE and ADORE David. His voice, his amazing connection to the songs he sings. The compassion and emotion he evokes in every song he sings. His sultry and soulful sound. His connection to his audience. His looks – he’s adorable, cute, funny, kind. His humanity, tenderness, gentleness, patience and spirituality. I just think he is the best thing to happen to me in my entire lifetime. Every time I hear his voice or see him on TV or on a YouTube video it puts a smile on my face. No other artist can put a smile on my face like he does. He has made me feel happier and more positive and joyful about life. Anytime I have a conversation with someone, no matter what it is about, I somehow manage to turn it into something related to David (and I’m really good at this I’ve noticed). I guess I could go on and on and on. But, the main thing is David has changed my viewpoint on things and my life in general. I will never forget the electricity when he came down the escalator at the Virgin Megastore for his CD signing. Yes, I got to meet him and get his autograph but was so starstruck and nervous that when I got up to him I forgot everything I wanted to say or do (I could kick myself for not at least shaking his hand) and it was only for like 30 seconds but it was the best time of my life.
pabuckie – You’re in good company here at ND and if you really want a chance to meet him again, I just found out that tickets to his Chicago House of Blues concert can be had for $72, $96, or $300 each!!
It appears the tickets sold out in about 15 minutes and now ticket scalpers are taking advantage of his popularity and his fans.
I’m REALLY happy that David is this much in demand, but I don’t like it when ticket scalpers exploit the situation like this. It should be illegal.
Thanks, Joner – unfortunately, due to circumstances, I will have to wait for David’s next tour and just hope that he will one day come back here to NYC. I’m sure he will it’s just a matter of WHEN? Waiting is the hardest part. I’m looking forward to his acting debut – will have to tape it for sure.
I think I am being misunderstood here. I know what WE ALL want for David and how much his VOICE means to us all. But, again, I see these generalizations that Jive (who by the way are not his management, Azoff is, in concert with his Father) are marketing him in the wrong way. Rascals statement:
“Our issue is that he should do it on his own terms, as a unique and individual artist.”
How do we know what David’s own terms are? How do we know that he is being forced down a particular path? If we follow this path of logic then we are giving credance to the “stage Father” description that was brought up on AI. We are insinuating that David is merely a pawn in this game and that he isn’t given the opportunity to voice his opinions.
We continue to talk about what David should be doing not how well he is doing. That is where I am at. We should be reveling in the fact that David gets new fans everyday, that he is getting brave enough during his live performances to throw in A’capella songs, that he still likes to sing covers and that he is as good as the original artist if not better – much better.
I’m just saying that this is David’s career. We need to show support, to encourage others to listen him, to go the extra mile to make sure his concerts are well attended by a great mixture of individuals. We can express our dreams for him…but we have to be realistic at the same time.
Tess, can’t add much to Rascal’s wise words, but I think the trouble some have with letting David be David is that his talent’s almost too big for any contemporary genre to handle. It’s like watching Yo-Yo Ma join a zydeco band.
That said, I think most of us here are willing to let David take us on any musical path he so chooses … white flag… we surrender gladly ….
I agree TOfan #149.
Plus Tess #148 I have a feeling David could always sing a cappella, and a chanllenge for him now is to be accompanied by a band.
Correction to #150 above:
: “a cappella” and challenge.
Tess #148 How do we know that he is being forced down a particular path?
Hmm, I’m not sure this proves the point, but his every moment is definitely being determined as evidenced by his statement on his blog that he had to “call management” to see if he could go to his Senior Ball.
I don’t know about you, Tess, but I’ve had enough proximity to the music business, and rather close association with other aspects of show business, to know that artists in David’s position have very little to say about the vast majority of “career direction” decisions that are being made — especially in areas like marketing and promotion. Until one month ago, David was not even in a position to legally make or agree to those decisions himself. Call it “stage dad-ism” if you like, but the fact of the matter is that every contract that David is currently serving was signed not by him but by Jeff.
“I don’t think that this is working, reaching so hard my hands are hurting…..” – My Hands by David Archuleta
Oh, sorry. I got carried away singing “My Hands”.
What I meant to say was I don’t think this interview was posted here, and it’s a good one from jaredinsider.
Idol Worship: Catching Up With David Archuleta
David Archuleta within driving distance? We’re there! Since Archie was back in Hollywood last weekend to shoot a performance for the Nickeleodeon hit show iCarly, we decided to pop by the set and catch up with last season’s American Idol runner-up. We arrived to to find David and iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove knee-deep in taping promos for his guest-starring role (airing Feb. 7), which can only be described as moments of acute awkwardness. But he got the hang of it soon enough, and even hinted later that there could be more acting gigs in his future. After performing two songs for the network’s “Crush Night” (his first hit, “Crush,” and second single, “A Little Too Not Over You”), David sat down to talk to us about this new phase in his life, and what may come next (a duet with Miranda?!). Read on for our exclusive (and classic Archie) Q&A…
First off, how were your holidays?
David: It was so nice to be home because I haven’t hung out with my brothers and sisters for so long. They’ve changed a lot over the year, and I didn’t even notice. My 12-year-old sister has really matured. And my 9-year-old sister, well, she’s kind of the same, but my brother’s even taller. It was great to catch up with them and see what they’re into because I didn’t realize how out of the loop I was. It’s like, you don’t appreciate how busy you are until you come back and realize, “Woah, I missed a lot of my family life!” So I’ve been spending time with the family. My birthday is between Christmas and New Year’s, so we all went to Las Vegas together, saw “Blue Man Group,” you know…
And you were at the inauguration in D.C.?
David: I sang the National Anthem at the Latino gala, which was fun. Obama didn’t come by, but there were a lot of cool people there. I got to meet Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony and they were super nice. They’re some of the most well-known Latino people and were just so warm, welcoming and embracing to everyone. I was shocked that they knew who I was, but they watched the show! Marc was saying, “She calls you her other man and normally, if she did that, I would kick their… But you’re OK.” I was, like, “Awesome!”
So here we are on an entirely different kind of stage. How did you like your guest-starring experience on iCarly? Did Miranda give you pointers?
David: I didn’t really ask for any. It’s kind of like, the more you do it, the more you get the hang of it and find your own way of acting. I hope to do more acting — nothing too fancy or serious, more fun like this. But it’s amazing to see how Miranda is in person, because she plays pretty nasty characters sometimes, like on Drake and Josh and in School of Rock. But we had a great time and I love hanging out with her. It’s nice to work with someone who’s in a similar situation, because Miranda has a record deal, too.
She’s hoping to have an album out this summer, and told us she’d love to do a song with you.
David: Like a duet? That would be way cool.
Speaking of duets, you had your younger brother Daniel play with you at Sundance. Can we expect to see a repeat on your upcoming tour?
David: I don’t know. That was kind of an experiment to see how it would go, and my brother still has some work to do. But it would be cool to have him come out on tour and play with me. It’s more special that way, when you have someone who means a lot to you up there on that stage. And the thing about Sundance was, he got to experience a little bit of what I went through.
Any plans to pull a Jason/Michael Castro move on a future season of Idol?
David: Idol is not his thing, really. He just likes to play guitar and stuff, he doesn’t have that big American Idol voice. Plus, he already has his own fans. A video he put up on YouTube got over 100,000 views, which is crazy.
How are you liking the more positive Idol so far this season?
David: I like it a lot. I still feel bad for people who do bad, but I’m so happy about the new setup and that Kara Dioguardi is there, because she has a lot of knowledge, experience and spunk. And she knows what she’s looking for.
You’ve called her tough before. Was she like that working with you in the studio?
David: She just told it like it was. She’s that kind of person — really forward, but easy to talk to and work with.
She and Simon do seem to clash a lot. When it comes time to voting, who do you think viewers will listen to?
David: Simon. People still put their trust in Simon, where they’ve kind of built their foundation on what Simon says. Like even if they like something, they’ll change their mind if Simon says it’s terrible. Or vice versa. He has a strong influence on people. But I think will Kara will shake that up a little because she’s new and has really caught people’s interest. Plus, she has a lot more experience with writing. But we’ll have to see whether they agree with each other. I’m sure they’ll try to have some tension there to liven things up. No matter what, it’ll be good for the show.
This year, they’re also having the Top 12 live in one house. How do you think that would have played out on your season?
David: A house together with, like, guys and girls? That’s kind of risky. I think it would’ve been tough. We had roommates, but I like my privacy. Especially with performing; you’re out there in front of everyone and meeting so many people and smiling for so many pictures, it’s nice to have a moment where it’s no one but yourself. The we-all-live-here-it’s-all-fair-game kind of thing? I don’t know.
Any plans for you to perform on the show this season?
David: I haven’t been approached yet, but I’d like to, even though it will be kind of weird to be back on that stage.
http://billboard.blogs.com/jadedinsider/2009/01/idol-worship-catching-up-with-david-archuleta.html
He hasn’t been approached yet? Are they nuts??
Snarky’s reports that Chicago tickets sold out in 15 minutes. Way to go, David!
It somehow never occurred to me that the contracts that David is now fulfilling were all signed by Jeff. (rascal #153) Turning 18 then is huge – it will put David more firmly in charge of his own career. I hope that he is given, (and gives himself) the space and time to create his own best version of himself. I want him to never lose his joyful exuberance.
David will be singing the National Anthem at the PRO BOWL in HAWAII…..Wow!! (Feb. 8th)
hi everyone– To David’s management –don’t want to sound like a broken record but with all these sell out venues HOW ABOUT ADDING THE NOKIA IN NYC for all of us rabid NY fans!!! We will show you what a sellout is all about!
David Sells Out Madison, Wisconsin venue in 45 minutes! – FOD
HOW ABOUT ADDING THE NOKIA IN NYC for all of us rabid NY fans!!! We will show you what a sellout is all about!
Laura, THANK YOU!!!!
Let’s hope they add a few more venues (and preferably on a date when I can make it!).
HG- just a funny thought, do they realize they would have to schedule 2 dates for the NOKIA, one day would not be enough…Somebody is not paying attention.
I agree!
“HOW ABOUT ADDING THE NOKIA IN NYC for all of us rabid NY fans!!! We will show you what a sellout is all about!”
Laura and HG, add me to that list. I have a bit of money earmarked for that!
Nokia? Me, too!
I bought presale tickets for his opening concert in Virginia beach at the Sandler Center…row R..orchestra….then tried again today and found I could buy…row H…orchestra…then later found Box A just above the stage…seats 1 & 2…So I have six in total making sure that going the distance I can get the best possible…Some were released as the day went on…probably season ticket holders…I will have to check to see if they have that…anyway I will have four to sell before his first amazing concert…
This is what I know. One year ago this 17 year old kid was starting out on AI. He wondered if each week would be his last. H made it to the final two. He lost and the voting was not even close according to AI.
And now this barely 18 year old’s first album is now GOLD. His first first solo tour starts in less than a month from now.
How wonderful it is to see this happen.
I haven’t heard of too many trying to make it to his first solo tour appearance on stage at the Sandler Center to witness the excitement and just be there when it happens and in such a lovely place for him…Have I been missing people who are going to be there??
Out of curiosity I checked stubhub to see if tickets were listed for DA. This is what was there under the list of tickets for sale:

Out of longtime lurkdom just to let ya know…I just purchased tickets for Idaho Falls, and I understood they were not on sale till tomorrow!! I followed the link at Snarkies.
naturgirl – Ack! I need IF tickets, but the links at snarkies aren’t working for me. Could you please email me the link to Idaho Falls tickets??? LzKeefe@aol.com
So, from what I understand, when I went to IDF, Snarkies, Sayreville, Phoenix, Madison and Chicago are all sold out, with presales in Lancaster sold out?
Go David!
And to think he actually said, “I hope people show up” for his tour.
Sigh. Dear Sweet David, PLEASE GET A CLUE!
You…YOU!…Yes, YOU!! You’re Huge!
Sometimes I just want to send him to one of my friend’s self-esteem building workshops for youth…
naturgirl #170 ….or of course just put the link here.
Did you buy VIP tickets through the radio station? Or just the regular public tickets for Idaho Falls?
Good evening all!
mommuzboys: loving those stub hub “ads”. They should join David’s PR team!
If not for anything else, TESS, thank you for posting at #139 cos that prompted RASCAL to delurk! Am just so glad to hear from you big R
Now, this one is what I have been waiting for. RIAA CERTIFICATION OF DAVID’S ALBUM — GOLD!!!!

saweeeet!
JR, wherever you are? Oh THERE you are! ..David will be in Hawaii on 2/8..hmmm, just a hop, skip & a jump..well 10-11 hours to Manila..hmmm? I’m just thinking out loud, hmmm? Doesn’t that little singer Charice live in Manila? And didn’t she say she wanted to record a duet with David? Hmmm? Maybe a long shot? But David going to Hawaii was a big surprise too, so who knows what else is on the agenda before THE TOUR starts? Jus’ sayin’..don’t wanna get your hopes up, but I’m jus’ sayin’
HG #174 – I know what you mean. It would seem our young man doesn’t have a clue. But perhaps it is his defense mechanism so things won’t go to his head… to stay grounded. Just makes him more lovable, right?
Good morning everyone!
Sayreville concert goers:
I just got off the phone with the Starland Ballroom and I’m getting a little bummed out!
I would really like to be able to get reasonably close to the stage and was told to expect people to be lining up in the morning!
Have any of you ever encountered this situation? More important: Do any of you plan on arriving at the venue in the morning?
HI everyone. Great posts HG, all of them!!
Nice to hear from you Bliss,,,,I had been worried as I had not noticed you on you tube either. Since some of our loved ones don’t always get it, glad to know no one called in the “men in the white jackets” for you.
Amen to Rascal.
Rapture- I am worried about that too. I still have to make airline reservations and had hoped to fly in early the day of the concert to save $, but I am worried about how early they will line up…
Hope it is not like Black Friday where people get there the night before & camp out.
SF: any thought on the Sunshine Theatre?
News of the sell-out shows gets around *cough*gocaseydog*cough*!
Removehttp://blog.seattletimes.nwsource.com/american-idol/2009/01/30/american_idol_news_roundup_for_4.html
TOfan – apparently we are a “rabid bunch!!!”
Oh and Tess: I think the comparions to the greats are just that- not in musical styles….
What I want is David Arcuhuta unbridled,,,, which is?
Gosh, I don’t even know, but maybe a lotta soul, a dash of R & B, shake in pop, some jazz on the side , some cool runs, a strong melody and good lyrics equals great music. ( any and all combination above …….works for me)
Oops! I got interrupted by surprise and had to send that post (178) before I was ready…
Two more things:
~Arriving early at the venue would interfere with the 4:00 pre-show fanvention.
~The Starparking passes that allow a special entrance were sold out before I could buy one. There were only 90-100 sold, but each one is good for a carload (8 people)
Do any of you that have the starparking pass plan on going early and would you have room for “one more”?
90-100 passes (each good for 8 people) can still potentially mean hundreds of people waiting in the special entrance line.
I’m not sure what to do about this, but I’m not even sure of my options until I know if someone has a Starparking pass and extra room to car pool from a nearby location (shopping center?)
It’s difficult for me to post right now, but I’ll keep checking back as often as I can find a way to this evening.
**growing concerned**
PS: rae, if you can swing it, I would come in the night before.
rapture and rae – I’ve been thinking about the lining up early thing too. The shows I’m planning on going to are all GA. I think the trade-off is whether you want to spend the afternoon/evening in line or maybe spend that time gathering for dinner with some NDers and just take your chances. These are all medium-sized venues, and I’m thinking that I won’t get too crazy about needing to be in the very very front.
LIZ, lol … froth alert!
TOfan – images of crazy-eyed, manic rabbits with foaming mouths. Acckkkkk! Not a pretty sight!
Liz, I see your point and I am torn. I may not have another chance to see David in a small venue and I would like not to be in the way back. I’m torn!
Happy…Kizzi… are you here? What are your thoughts about this?
I’m so looking forward to this and making a lot of “arrangements” in order to be able to do this covertly.
rapture – you can ride w/me. I have a starparking pass. I think happy bought 6 so check with her to see if she has one for you. Also, happy is doing the pre-concert event at 4pm and the venue opens in Sayreville at 6:30 so ppl could still leave early if they wanted to meet everyone and then go stand in line. I am going to do a post-concert party and will send details to all going to Sayreville so if ppl go early and miss the 4pm they can catch those of us who are staying overnight or can stay late after the concert.
rapture – our posts crossed – haha. I think you should go early if you want to be in front. Some of the NDers are going early. Then after concert attend the party and meet whomever is staying overnight or going home a little later. My hotel is about 8 miles from the venue.
Rae..email me at…
deeimagines@aol.com
David Concerts seem to be selling out in the venues that are in or near the cities/states where he has already appeared, either in the AI tour or Jingles, or radio appearances, so David is well known in those areas and has large fan bases there already. In areas, like Albuquerque NM, where there has been virtually no promotion of David yet, and where he has never appeared, the venues will sell out, but not as quickly. IMO!
oh, and rapture (sorry to post so many in a row everyone) I was up close at Albany and then eased to the back and I enjoyed both spots’ so I think you have to decide if you want to listen for 45 mins or more squished like a sardine breathing as the group breathes with 18 elbows periodically pressing against your torso….. versus in the back where it is more spread out and you aren’t hemmed in by bodies and heads and can move around and get a wider stage view.
Yup, I called Archie fans a “rabid bunch,” but I didn’t admit I was one of them!
caseydog – Just so we know that we’re all in this “rabid” thing together haha!
SandyBeaches – I am going to the Sandler Center – email me at kizzix2008@gmail.com
caseydog..didn’t you say A WEEK ago, you were making your reservations for RENO?? Talk about “rabid!
BTW..since you are a journalist, don’t forget your press pass/badge…or if you’re not going to use it..can I borrow it?? You do have one, right?
SF *waves*
I like the word rabid; nothing wrong with accuracy
Kizzi..Hi!! You & happy are the ultimate party planners!
Your Mini-Fanvention looks like it’ll be a huge success and a blast! Wish I could be there..but I just HAVE to go to the Alb venue..hometown and all that!
The Hawaii appearance was a big surprise..I have a suspician he’s going to do something more than just sing the SSB at the game..seems like a LONG way to go for 3 minutes on TV..but what do I know??
hi everyone!!
rapture…you make me LOL!!!
SF – happy and I have been brainstorming how to get you to Sayreville – wish snarky’s contest was for Sayreville…you definitely know all those answers off the top of your head
I am so excited about the Hawaii SSB; I’ll be watching the game for sure. Hawaii is only 5 hour flight from LAX and the Pro Bowl is pretty cool.
Hi Happy!
Happy…..Every time I see those tickets I smile!
Off topic:
Adam has Baby Converse.
SF: You do read between the lines here pretty well, doncha? I may try to pull the ol’ journalist card to obtain a private little interview with David. OTOH, maybe I want to avoid work and just be a rabid fan for once.
Have you figured out if you can make the Reno show? I’m really looking forward to it.
it’s all good… and I think my thoughts apply to all of the SRO venues in a way, not just Sayreville.
there will either be enough room for all the tickets sold or there will not be….
if there is enough room for everyone (ie:not sold to the fire limit) then it won’t really matter when you get there unless you are absolutely willing to be one of the first 20 in line and willing to firmly stake your claim (and not visit the bathroom) and/or they let you in slowly. Albany and HRC had plenty of room…. mosh if you want, not if you don’t..its all good because there is plenty of room and consequently you can see from everywhere- the place is small…
if we are sold to the limit then it won’t really matter when you get there unless you are absolutely willing to be one of the first 20 in line and willing to firmly stake your claim and/or they let you in slowly…it will be unpleasant everywhere. The very front rows will be able to see and the back will probably be preferable to the center of the mosh…
point is ..you can’t control what you can’t control and feeding your own anxiety doesn’t make for a fun time, LOL!
btw- I was told this venue is selling below their capacity in deference to the “type of crowd”—(translation: not wild maniac heavy metal types that love to mosh like sardines) I would like to think that this remains true and they don’t release more tickets since it sold out so quickly…
at any case…everyone will endure and arrive whenever it makes them feel safe and secure…..me? I don’t plan on standing on line for hours. When we arrived at Albany we arrived well after the doors opened and literally walked right in.
I stand firmly by my moshing tip…. don’t plant yourself near someone with big hair…that is a major drag….someone else’s big hair in your mouth tickling your face….believe me…no fun….beware of big hair… bwaahhhaaa
Kizzi..unfortunately, the biggest problem I had with Sayerville was the date..on a weekday and taking off from work for that concert, then a whole week a couple of weeks later for Alb is just not a good idea at this particular time. So I had to choose..And believe it or not, It’s more expensive to fly from Louisville to NJ or NY than to NM, which is a lot farther..cuz I checked!
Anyway..I know I’m gonna be cryin’ & wishin’ I was there with you!
ok, hmmm…..I am thining then SF, I will call your cellphone, so we can share the concert & party with you up close and personal. I think I still have your cell…it will be the next best thing to having you there!!!
Lol – I wish I was “thining” *thinking
After seeing the announcement of sellout in Phoenix, am feeling real fortunate to have stumbled upon the site late last night/early am & bought my tickets (2). ebonyangel, sweetonda & highervibe – hope you have yours as well. Let me know if not. Haven’t asked my niece yet as she is all involved with the SB this weekend. She likes the VOICE but isn’t ODD.
mommuzboys#126 – Have you watched the JB Sacramento You Can performance. Being a first time concert goer, if he performs that song (or any of his songs) like that in concert, not sure what will become of me. Hopefully, I survive to see his entire set. Am sure I’ll be incapable of capturing it on vids as I can barely accomplish anything while/after viewing it.
Whle weaning myself off ODD – mostly due to lack of much on internet or tv – been watching all his performances from AI. Really watching & listening. Have gained an even greater appreciation of him (if that’s even possible). It’s all about the “message”. Wow, talk about rip my heart out: Another Day in Paradise (…about those who have nothing) – don’t think a vacation to Mexico will ever be the same; Smokey Mountain Memories – reminded him of his home & family; etc, etc. He really does sing with so much genuine emotion & I do get that gift of connecting with the spirit. Just never realized that music was soooo deep.
Was listening to You Can & realized that that could be my (our) anthem…….”this is where it all begins, so tell me it’ll never end…….if I could wish upon tomarrow, tonight (concert night) would never end…if you ask me I would follow but for now I’ll just pretend…….” Uh huh, that would be me. I think I’m his mirror…”and I know, yes I know……” Oh HELP………………
casey..Well, I got the tickets..and now just waiting for my sister to say YES! But I went alone to Atlanta and met up with some Archies from FOD, ended up in the same hotel David was staying in and well, the rest is history! I really want my sister to come with me, cuz we have a blast when we’re on the loose..uh..we’re not loose or anything..we just have a blast together! That’s what I mean! I love Vegas, but have never been to Reno. Would love to go to Reno!..Have never wanted to go to Reno..but now I really WANT to go to Reno on 3/18! So, yes, I will go to Reno! The things I do for David!
About tour promotion…I received 3 emails telling me about David’s local appearance and tour…one from ticketmaster, one from the venue, and one from AEG Live…not bad I’d say….. also…

there’s hope for the NOKIA (capacity. 2100) and/or Highline Ballroom (capacity 700)…..
I absolutely love David’s pop album. I can’t wait to hear him sing much of it live in Beaumont. I was not a pop fan before. Ultimately, the genius of David is that he can NOT sing anything without sounding awesome. Not just his voice, but it’s also about the intelligence he brings to any song with his choices.. when to hold back, when to let go. Rascal once described a song by David as something (paraphrasing) that hums and hovers near the ground and then at some point lifts up and then soars. When the fully realized David walks onto the stage at Carnigie or Lincoln Center, I don’t care what genre he sings, as long as it reveals HIS intention and passion and gift in whatever way he interprets those things to be. I love what he is now. But he is not what he will be. I think David knows that too. He has studied music from many time periods and from all over the world. I think he still considers himself a student. I love that about him, his devotion to his gift. He may at times compromise on style, but never substance. What I guess I am saying is, I don’t think anyone here is critisizing his choices, just wanting them to be more and more HIS as time goes on. Some of the choices at this stage I believe are his, but not all. Consider this though.
Crush was his first single ever. It went Platinum. The album was done in a rush between tour stops. It is now Gold. There are some of us who understandably, tremble a little at the thought of what a fully autonomous David is capable of producing.
Hi kizzi….we will miss SF THIS TIME AROUND, but at the official 1st Annual nD Fanvention, SF and juliebug will be singing backup for Sexual Healing….
SF/juliebug, have you been rehearsing?….
Happy & Kizzi
Thanks for your responses. I do feel a little better now.
Happy, glad I was making YOU laugh. I was freaking out there for a while!
Your comments made great sense!
In any case, I’ll have to be sure to SUPER-STARCH my clothes so I can remain in an upright position when my knees go weak!
I hear someone… gotta go for now
——-whooooooosh!
ooooh, I had another minute after all.
Go Angelica!
I love to read what you write…
“There are some of us who understandably, tremble a little at the thought of what a fully autonomous David is capable of producing.”
SILVER – yes Charice lives here but she will be going back to the US to record. That’s why she said that there may be a chance for her & David to do a duet. The girl has ODD too, you know
She was tickled pink when she met David during the Macy’s Parade. She found it funny that David was the one star struck with her!
And when she found out that David blogged about her on his myspace, she could not contain her happiness. Her admiration of him grew even more.
So the duet will happen there. Her wish is that it happens on valentines. Is there any gig scheduled around that time?
OH!! RASCAL!!!!! sooooooo happy you are back… hope all is well….. I am disappointed you won’t be joining us at our minifanvention…. don’t you want to be “almost famous?”… we’d treacha like you was famous… because to us… you are! if you don’t want to be “almost famous” maybe you could come as someone else… those who know what you look like would promise not to rat you out… you know like in the movies… pretend you are Rascal’s cousin or you could pretend to be this new guy “Ralph/128″… we don’t know Ralph, we wouldn’t know the difference!! hahaha
Good nite all- early day tomorrow.
HAPPY – you said: “SF and juliebug will be singing backup for Sexual Healing….”
A couple of questions:
1. If they are doing back-up, then the lead vocal is…. Rascal?
2. You think that would be enough reason for the consul to approve my visa so I could join you guys for the official Fanvention?
I mean… it is “Sexual Healing” after all.. and with SF and juliebug… just sayin…
Kizzi..If you call me either from the concert or the pre or after party..it would be AWESOME!!!
Kizzi, since your job requires so much travel..can’t you
schedule a stop in Reno on 3/18? Couldn’t you have a meeting there or somethin’? Come on..you can do it!
And bring “happy” with you!!
fandaforever..sounds like you’re in luv..Hurts doesn’t it?
caseydog..if I were you..I’d bring my press pass/badge. You never know when it’ll come in handy!
happy..have I been rehearshing “Sexual Healing”?..well…
OH, you meant THE SONG??? silly me!! I thought you meant..oh never mind!!
I won’t be going to any solo concerts this time around. I am so happy to read all your stories about making plans, buying tickets and such.
Today I was wandering around youtube. I came across this backstage video that includes David and Shontell. I think it shows David’s maturity in dealing with a full grown jerk. It’s amazing how far this guy had to go to finally send David fleeing the room. David appears at 1:42 thru about 4:00. It’s David being David. I think he blushes:)

Abrra
happy..Now see what you make me think & say..Now I have to repent again!
JR..David will be tossing beads to all his subjects from a float at Mardi Gras on 2/14..
Just thought I’d check in and report what I know about the Allentown concert.
This morning I spoke with someone at the venue and was told that Ticketmaster sold out of 600 pre-sale tickets within hours. She did not say how many pre-sale tickets they personally sold from the venue (that is where I bought mine). Tickets go on sale tomorrow and she is certain they will sell out quickly.
The stage at the Crocodile Rock Cafe is 5 1/2 ft. off the ground so you can see from wherever you are. The bar area (the over 21 section) seats 100. I was told the under 21 area is right up at the stage. Also was informed they expect the tweens to be lined up to get in the morning – doors open at 6 PM.
SF219-ROFL…it was worth it, you had to repent today anyway….
JR218- HG has a list of requirements for singers of that song… SF, juliebug, and I passed muster…..or is that “past the mustard”……haha …(see I can be funny and not naughty….)
Have any of you seen this? ALTNOY has broken the record at FlyFM, in Malaysia for beating out every song that challenged it on the Love it or Shove it contest by winning for 47 nights straight!!
http://archuletavenue.wordpress.com/2009/01/29/slc-audition-full-episode-archuduties/#comments
whoever above suggested mike kompass as the accompanist (keyboard, guitar, drums…actually played all of the instruments on SOT) if he’s not going to have a band then I love the idea of MK…an opportunity for David to play with an accomplished and experienced accompanist and with a musician that he has a personal musical connection with, a musician who knows the business and who can presumably mentor David.
it will be interesting if he has no backing track at all and goes totally acoustic …has this been confirmed?
*cough* *hack* *sneeze* *cough* *ouch!*
Flu AND a pulled groin muscle (don’t ask me how)…
Delurking from my sick bed. SF and Happy…
We should charge them extra to see us “sing.” This could be our big break. And we and David will be CO-WORKERS. And he will call us AWESOME to work with in his blog! And he’ll ask us to go on the road with him…and be his new back-up singers! This will make us PAID stalkers! Works for me….start practicing ladies….
Humph!
Oooh, Check out the Sandler Marquee on FOD. Fantastic!
http://fansofdavid.com/
juliebug..Awww, you sound so sick! drink plenty of liquids for the flu…but the groin thing..I told ya not to do THAT when rehearsing “SH”!!
Paid stalkers! is that legal?? I like, no I LOVE the sound of that! But heck..I’d do it for FREE!
juliebug226- yes! and next time take SF’s advice…she is after all a professional…… feel better and rest up …we want to be known as the (to borrow a phrase) “members in good standing of the house rockin’, pants droppin’, earth shockin’, hard rockin’, booty shakin’, love makin’, heart breakin’, soul cryin’, death defyin’ nD Band!”
I really hate to say good night, but I have a “date” with my son tomorrow..we are basketball nuts..and LOVE our U of L Cardinals! The Cards are playing WV at noon and I haven’t been to any of the games this season. So I have to get some rest..I get crazy when our Cards play..I luv ‘em..not as much as I luv David..but close, at least til the season ends..So good nite all!
So great to have rascal back, even for a couple of great posts! Good vibes going out to you, rascal!
And for David..even though he has us going cra-zeh!..
Happy (#225) or anyone – I have been trying to catch up on my reading here – been out of the loop – but is a backing track still considered a possibility? Yikes! (oops, sorry, I sooo want a band/live musician/s with him. This is a real concert – needs real musicians. Did I miss something?
good night SF. Amen.
good night all. thanks for the fun.
There is an additional behind-the-scenes posted at youtube but it is not available in my country… yeah! rub that in. Can’t see him perform live, now I can’t see stuff in his official youtube (pouting here)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qIL48M3BEU&feature=channel
Can anyone capture the vid and upload somewhere, please?
OH good night SF.
Re my post #233 – I meant new behind-the-scenes video of ALTNOY — that’s what happens when I pout. haha
Can you believe this? Finally some news on our David on AI?
http://www.americanidol.com/news/view/pid/1540
Heard that the SLC is the highest rated episode so far this year… I wonder why?
Feeling reeeeeeaaly stupid, cause in my David induced frenzy I bought tickets for BOISE instead of IF!!! So, while I am begging the ticketmaster people to refund my $, I am also planning to stay up late and try to buy REAL Idaho Falls tickets! Meanwhile, anybody in Boise want 4 tickets?
Sorry to have raised false hopes Davidfanliz!!
naturgirl – No problem. I was wondering if there was confusion with Boise and Idaho Falls. Maybe this is telling you that you need to go to the Boise show too!?!
In any case, I’m fairly sure you’ll have takers for the Boise show after it sells out.
Everyone here already knows that David is a great singer, and should not have to “pay his dues” by going through the charade of being a “heart throb teen idol” before he is allowed to perform at his real level of talent.
He’s a singing “Doogie Howser”. Doogie was not made to
endure the boredom of schooling that he had already mastered, and went directly to the level that belied his chronological age, but not his talent.
David was too “dang” good for American Idol, and he’s too “dang” good for this teeny bopper masquerade that his “shnurer” management team is subjecting him to. If a ballplayer is great, who cares if he’s 18 or 38. He belongs in the Major Leagues. David needs to be unleashed in all his glory. Does anyone think that a mere teen idol could sing a sophisticated song like “Imagine”, or “WYSYLM” the way David did? There was nothing “cute” about those performances. They were stunning performances sung at the highest level. How long are we going to have to endure this “phase” in David’s career before he is allowed to be what we all know he is NOW? I know he’ll get there, but they’re moving him along at a glacial pace, and I’m not that young, if you get my drift.
I don’t want to be in a mosh pit in New Jersey when I’m seeing him perform. He belongs at Alice Tully Hall where the great, respected artists perform. I want to have my tuchis in a chair when my body is ungulfed in chills from that Voice that nobody else on earth comes close to having.
“engulfed” not “ungulfed”.
Bliss, I totally agree with you about the tuchis in the chair thing. I would love to be comfortably seated in a small venue. (Our fantasy ND intimate annual private show comes to mind). But I don’t mind David gaining the experience of carrying a whole show in a less intimidating venue than Alice Tully Hall.
I think about someone like Sara Bareilles who played at the Fillmore in San Francisco. This is a 1000 person dancehall. I’ve seen the video of her singing Gravity and she had the quiet, rapt attention of every person there. Everyone is standing, but it’s not a crazy moshpit scene. The audience is hanging on her every note.
It is yet to be seen how these solo shows will play out. Will the crowds be young and screaming? Will the crowd quiet down to listen to every nuance in the Voice? I for one, don’t mind standing and dancing to the Voice. This experience may or may not have the intimate moments of chills that we all love, but it WILL have the delight of watching David strut and hunkerdown and interact with a live audience. Oh my, the thought of a full concert with David is making me giddy with happiness!!!
So Bliss, what will you do? Go to one of the solo tour shows or wait?
And rascal, what will you do?
I hate to admit it, but, when it comes to David, I’m a bit of a snob. In many ways, David is more evolved spiritually than I am. David is more patient than I am. He sings because he loves singing. He doesn’t think he’s “above” singing a pop song aimed at young girls, because he respects young girls and their feelings. He’s a remarkable young man in so many ways. My advice to everyone when it comes to David is simply “Watch and learn.” He dignifies everything and everyone just by showing up. He’ll be great on this tour, and it will bolster his career. Patience, patience, patience.
Bliss#238
I think we all want our tuchis in a chair for The Voice. For one thing, I get a little weak in the knees when I hear him. Maybe it will happen sooner rather than later. I don’t worry too much about his career path. Something tells me he’s on his own trajectory and things, as he says, “happen for a reason.” Everything he is going through is a needed step on the journey and is making him what he will become. Maybe some of what he needs to learn is to be more assertive and more aware of how great a gift he actually has. Maybe he needs to learn how to infuse the power of (pop)ular songs into his own work, creating a style of music unlike anything out there. Two things are for sure. He is gaining momentum and gathering an immense wealth of information about what works and what doesn’t. I believe in the end, that what he does with what he learns, will, in the world of music, be seminal.
For a bit of charm and chills, I suggest revisiting the “I’ll Be” video in rascal’s Jan. 12 article. Yes!
Bliss – I totally agree with you, however, I’m too ODD to miss any of these concerts – even with the moshing. Incidentally, I saw Dylan in a beautiful old theater in Harlem, (Palace theater), last November. Throughout the entire concert, everyone stood – so even if you have seats, people are still going to stand through a concert – and these were not young kids, they were exactly the age you would expect to see at a Dylan concert.
BTW – there are very few people here that will now what “schnurer” means – however it was a perfect description…LOL
Nice to have you back – we missed you at ND and I’m glad to hear you are feeling better!
Nina,. I was pretty much out of commission for a couple of weeks, but I’m feeling much better. Thanks.
I was at the CD signing at Virgin Records, and I have never felt such electricity in the air in anticipation of his arrival. I can imagine that it will be even more electric at his concerts. I’ve been revisiting someof the videos of his performances on AI, and on tour, etc. They are just so powerful. “Love Me Tender” is still my favorite.
The look of utter sincerity and vulnerability on his angelic face, combined with the beauty of his voice and his obvious respect for the song, is just too much.
208 fandaforever48, Great that you managed to buy tickets for Phoenix!
I’ve been calling the Marquee and they keep saying that tix don’t go on sale until 2/7.
Bliss/ninaf, please do tell us, what is meant by “shnurer management team?” Thx in advance.
ebonyangel – I went through FOD site that had the tour dates/sites listed. Not sure why it worked but it did.
Does this mean you are able to go? If you are unable to purchace a tkt, I may have an extra.
ebonyangel #246 – I bought my tkts from etix.com. Found it on the msn live search xrank under David Archuleta tickets. Hope it was legit.
Yeah, what the heck is shnurer?
BLISS – we have seen how much of a sponge is David. He takes away something from whatever he was involved in/with. So the tour won’t be any different.
I, for one will be staking my collection on AllThingsDavid (and since we are hypercharged with ODD here, you all know that that is nothing to sneeze at! haha), that from this tour, he will finally see and learn (a) how much he is loved & (b) how much of a power draw he is, all by his lonesomeHe!
And he wonders if people will show up? Sheesh David… has NO IDEA how much stress and gung-ho people are just to get into this show.. Now you will know.
omy…. that should be “whatever it IS involved in/with…” excuse my lapses
Good (early) morning everyone – once again.
Looks like I missed out on some fun last night – thanks to TWO long distance calls from relatives who got in a fight and want me to choose sides. Utter drama and utter nonsense!
I should have gotten off my phone earlier and just come to ND. At least when WE fight, it’s over something (or someone) important – like wishful managing of David’s inevitably successful career!
Bliss, you are so on fire! Great that you’re feeling better.
I totally agree with your point. Why should David – he of vocal prodigy talents – wait to “pay his dues” when he’s ready to play in the Major Leagues now? But, I also know, as much as I’d love for him to grace the halls of Carnegie and Lincoln Center, that I did not hesitate – when David came to town – to get to the nearest “mosh pit” (located by a dollar store no less!) just to see and hear David live.
No doubt, if I didn’t have other obligations and if David performed near where I could get to him, I’d be going to this tour too. And who knows? By the time some Archie uploads on YouTube a vid in which he’s belting out my favorite song, Waiting for Yesterday, and he does some mad crazy vocals on my favorite falsetto part – “Oh No, never let goooooooo!,” that just might send my head spinning, my heart racing, and my common sense out the window as I scramble for overpriced scalped tix and equally heavy priced airfare and hotel to get my “tuchis” to the nearest venue featuring his solo tour. Obviously, there’s something to be said about this particular path that David’s label/management has carved for him at the moment.
If there’s anything that I wish his label/management would do is to figure out a way to simultaneously market to his multifaceted audience. To pull in both the “music snobs” such as yourself, Bliss, and Rascal and others (I could include myself here except I listen to everything) and the younger crowd. I want an Elton-John/Billy-Joel/Alicia-Keys “piano man” teen sensation type vibe for David, in which there’s no question that the “heart throb teen idol” is also a gifted musician.
We shall see where this journey takes us. However, once all the pop-friendly tunes are released for public consumption and his label doesn’t settle down into something more serious for David – say, if by the time late summer/early fall rolls around, and they don’t release an awards-worthy track like “Somebody Out there” in time for awards nominations, then we will know that they really don’t see David in the same way we do.
Of course, ALTNOY is already awards-worthy (for Best Pop Male Vocalist), so there might be a method to their madness. Then again, I’m sure we all remember that ALTNOY was not intended as a second single – until it showed that it had more potential than Touch My Hand. Looking at what the label intended, and what his fans demanded, this just might be a long contentious battle in which the label only sees the “teen cutie” while his fans know and long for The Voice.
Bliss #241 – Loved your comment there . . I agree with you completely. David makes any event he attends “classy”. I completely trust him.
Naturgirl – I might be interested in those tickets . . e-mail me at theringlady@gmail.com I’ll be checking on things in the meantime.
Thanks!
Angelica: Well said. We are all on life long learning curves; opening our minds and hearts to every experience is embracing life at full speed. David has that down pat!
Hi bliss: glad to see your feeling better and back posting. I missed your intuitive understanding and gentle wisdom. You pulled together multiple perspectives and wove them into one cloth. Beautiful!
SF – I do have ticket to Reno venu & room reservations. Don’t know yet if I’ll make it as travel plans are still a little up in the air.
collegemom – Hi
jr4da: Good to see your posts and links!
good morning all …fun discussion last night after I went to bed…JR, HG, and bliss are back…all is right in the nD world…
JR249- a “shnurer” is a parasite/sponger….
nina- and the shiksa is doing the translating? haha….
Bliss, you are a word weaver! As someone who has experienced the the Voice from a mosh pit , I must say it was a very unique experience.
When I look back at vids of those Albany performances I think ,,, how loud and rude and crazy those fans are…
but being there… I was totally into it. David’s voice and energy and the electricity in the crowd was just amazing… It’s one of those things that can’t be explained ,but experienced.
That said, I long for the day when we can sit in a quiet hall, in seats, sans screaming and posters and just absorb the Voice. That day will come, but I’m here for the whole ride. woot woot
hi kizzi!!!
HG, hope you do make it to another “mosh pit of the Voice”
off to work … have a great day everyone.
hi refnaf – oh, yeah, the “energy” and “electricity” in Albany was worth the moshing. I am non-discriminating…I’ll take the opportunity to hear the THE VOICE in any size, shape or package..
Bliss — I love what you said about David and pop songs geared to young girls.
I also join in the chorus of, “I’m too old to miss the opportunity to see David, whether there’s a seat for my tookus or not.”
kizzi/refnaf/bliss–I had a GREAT time in Albany….. loved it…..but, I HATED the Albany crowd, LOL!!!!- didn’t mind the moshing AT ALL..it was actually fun and added to the energy/experience (minus the big hair in my face, haha) but the shrill, never ending, and indiscriminate screaming from the youngins required me to summon up every ounce of tolerance I could muster…oh youth, always a double edged sword
the thing is…the moshpit tour thing is, for me, something I think I will only be willing to take in small doses…it was fun in Albany because it was my first time seeing him other than at the AI tour…. and I’m excited about Sayreville and Allentown because its all still new ….go with the flow, embrace your silly self, engage in ODD parties …but the venue really does not suit him. Also in Albany he had the groovin’, hunkerin’ down, glance away inducing, (annoyingly loud) live band..this will perhaps be different, so the crowd energy is an unknown quantity…
Bliss, you said…
“How long are we going to have to endure this “phase” in David’s career before he is allowed to be what we all know he is NOW? I know he’ll get there, but they’re moving him along at a glacial pace, and I’m not that young, if you get my drift”
Exactly my point when I said that at age 60, I HAVE to go for it! See him when I can, wherever I can. I hope I live to 100 just to keep witnessing the power & glory, the gift he gives us every time he opens his mouth in song!
Kizzi..haha! Why am I not surprised you already have your tickets to Reno? Hope to see you there!
happy..I haven’t witnessed David in a mosh pit..but I will in The Sunshine Theater..and what you said about…
“the venue really does not suit him” regarding Sayerville, is exactly what my sis thought when I called & told her about The Sunshine..She said it wasn’t near good enough for someone like David. My heart sank..I thought OH NO! But it’s a venue like Albany, Sayerville, and some of the others..a mosh pit. Wherever I stand will be OK with me as long as I can hear THE VOICE. My sis said the acoustics are great in The Sunshine and it also has a RAISED glass enclosed bar in the center of the floor which is actually the best view of the stage so maybe that’s where I’ll be parking myself. I can’t see myself vying for space in front with a bunch of young girls! Don’t wanna have ta punch anyone out and be arrested in my hometown for child abuse at the David Archuleta Concert..I would NEVER live that down! Best I just go behind a glass enclosed cage!
I’m listening to THE ALBUM as I’m getting ready to go to the ball game with my son, and I have to stop, close my eyes and just listen..THE VOICE just takes me away, to a place I go every time I hear his voice in song..a place no one has ever taken me! You all know what I’m talkin’ about..every song affects me in a different way…
See ya’ll later..have a great day!
Hey, does anyone remember which interview it was where David talked about why he chose to sing the third verse of Imagine on Idol? There’s an Arizona tour article out where the writer pulls up an ancient Ann Powers piece as a source for his claim that David was too devoutly Mormon to sing all three verses. I’d love to link to the article where David put this claim to rest. Folks have already listed youtube vids for the guy, but he says he’s choosing to believe Ann Powers over actual video. LOL?
http://blogs.phoenixnewtimes.com/uponsun/2009/01/just_announced_david_archuleta.php
Happy259 – it was the metal walls and ceilings that were pinging to the music in Albany that was unique *rolls eyes*
….tween/teen…I feel basically ageless (except for mirror time) when it comes to enjoying art…let the nay sayers have their say, no explanations…why lend credence to their silliness. …hopefully they can remove their blinders and enjoy THE VOICE…and there is nothing wrong IMHO with the way tweens/teens girls express their appreciation of David (for most of them it is DAVID 1st, music 2nd –ahhaha)…ummm, I know firsthand with my granddaughters (10 & 13) and I get to be just as tweeny/teeny about David when I am with them and it is loads, I mean MEGA loads of fun…..he will have a lifelong fan base and as they develop discrimination for music styles and artistry, his music will be appreciated more and more as they grow with him.
…as far as going to concerts, does my age make me ineligible? It is about THE VOICE, a tenor above all tenors of a generation…so he chooses to sing pop…sprinkle in a few SOTs, LMT’s, an ATM here and there topped off with an occasional OHN and I am sublimely blissful….I fall in that camp of people who don’t need to meet celebrities…oh, I did meet David who is just a young man (enjoys his age)…who comes from a sheltered background (like moi and many others) who happens to have a VOICE that takes me to places I define as divine….(no he isn’t divine…he isn’t going to unlock the secret of life for me…he isn’t complicated on a personal level)….who was trying to figure out why he has fans and was unfailingly polite and indefatigable in that pursuit…who is kind, sensitive, and humble…but (no tomatoes please) I know lots of great people with great qualities who are not celebrities who teach me so much about being human…the combination of David’s talent with his core characteristics is what is so fascinating and well deserves the attention and admiration it garners….so the journey for me is to watch David grow as a human being and develop his artistry and define who he is as a musician and singer…and whatever he sings, I’ll enjoy because after all he gives us all that he is plus…THE VOICE!
Just watched ALTNOY video on my home theater system with my extended family eating breakfast this AM – 5 feet of David screen shots….and THE VOICE….and, ya know, every member of my family from 3yo – 95yo were caught up in the video….his artistry is ageless, I tell you, ageless!
Kait #261 But he did record the first verse on the Studio Version, didn’t he? (Now I have to go listen! – such a hardship)
Well, I guess there wasn’t one recorded for iTunes.
David sang the entire Imagine at Ford Day (I was there
Didn’t he say that he sang just the one verse on Idol because he liked that particular verse and they had limited time for the song?
I am getting very excited for the Chicago show. It’s feeling more and more real everyday. If anyone is going and wants to meet up, e-mail me privately through rascal’s contact page.
He didn’t sing the full song for the studio version, Marlie. (I’d have loved that — but I love the version I have, too.) I know he sang the whole song on numerous occasions, and people are telling that to the Phoenix writer but he isn’t listening. He said he’d listen to the source he listed (Ann Powers, LA Times) over David’s fans. So I wanted to find the source where David himself said why he sang the lyrics he did.
Oh well, though.
Kait261 – I don’t remember an interview where he explained his choice. He doesn’t sing the word “hell” though. I believe he did sing all three verses when he was 12 on a TV performance. Dean Kaelin in his journal also said he didn’t sing the verse with “no religion” because of his beliefs when on AI but I have found some discrepancies between the journal and other information sources. Yet, he sang Imagine with all three verses since AI….so someone has an agenda there or maybe just miscommunication at its zenith…interesting!
The only source I’ve seen is when David told Randy why on the show that night.
SF – I finally figured why you keep talking about repenting over and over….the fun of having to keep repenting about the same thing….some mistakes are just too much fun to make only once….Oh, Ah…. *blinding flash*…. I am learning from THE MASTER…you, absolutely RULE, my dear SF!!!
i have to go out..but about the imagine thing…i thought at the time and think now…”that was an odd question from randy…” people sing one verse on that show all of the time and it’s not necessarily the first, second, or third verse …so why did he call attention to it at all… has that question ever been asked of any other contestant ever on that show? (HG… more conspiracy theories for you
)
Kait, I don’t remember where, but I do remember David explaining why he chose the third verse.
I’m paraphrasing here from what’s left of my memory…
He said that Imagine is such a great song, but people are often put off by the first verse and don’t listen/hear the meaning of ths song. He sang the third verse not only because it was his favorite and had a great message, but also so that people who may have dismissed the song at the first verse would have an opportunity to appreciate the song.
I remember thinking how brilliant that was! (naturally) I can’t remember if the interview was written or live. I feel like I SAW him say that, but sometimes I picture David saying what I’m reading, so I may have supplied the visual myself.
Does my accoung jog anyone’s memory?
RASCAL??? Might you have this cross-referenced somewhere in your “David Library”?
Now I really do want to find that!
Just read Sabrina’ plea on Snarky’s this morning for David to sing Waiting for Yesterday on his solo tour.
Oh man, I sure hope he does. I absolutely love that song too and have stated here what it does to me. The way he makes his voice quiver. When I sing it along with him, I make mine quiver too. {{{{{{{daaaaaaayyyyy}}}}}}}
And ditto what she said.
Rapture, that is exactly the interview I remember. I can’t find it. And I did post a response in the comments for the Phoenix reporter, but he has to approve comments and hasn’t approved my very polite listing of YT videos and even another reference to a later Ann Powers article that was much more deferential to David’s talent.
I got my tx to the Oklahoma City show this a.m.! Bought three: one for myself, one for my fellow fan friend who will travel with me, and one ‘just in case.’ I’m so excited!!!
Rumor of two possible Utah shows from FOD.
Also saw on FOD that he will have a band that he loves. More info about that to come. Woooot!
bliss 238 & 241 – enjoyed both of these. Thanks.
Angelica, the band is very good news!!
There’s something weird with the Idaho Falls tickets. Both vermeer and I logged on at 9 AM and it says ALL the tickets have been sold. This is not technically possible! I’m going to keep trying.
Iamblisskasden, once again I see how much you really get David. David sings because he loves to sing and he is never focused on himself. It’s about others. He knows that when he sings ” he feels the Spirit and others feel it too” I know that some don’t know what they are feeling, and that’s okay too, but, I do know, he sure moves all of us.
i hope it’s a mistake! I just tried as well with the same response…SOLD OUT! DANG!
naturgirl – this just doesn’t make sense. I have to think there is some technical problem. Even the shows that DID sell out, didn’t do it in less than 3 minutes! I’m going to continue to check back.
Where is David?!! Possibly practicing somewhere? Doesn’t he realize we want to watch him practice? And comb his hair. And tie his shoes. And whatever. I don’t even know what shoes he wore all week. Deprived. And then I tried to buy tickets to I.F. and receive a “sold out” notice at the time they supposedly went on sale. Dang it!!
Boy, you guys have been busy! Hard to catch up…
Bliss, welcome back! I hear what you’re saying about the teen idol thing but I keep seeing it from David’s point of view. As humble as he is, how cool it must be for an 18 yr old to be greeted by mosh pits of screaming “beautiful girls” — his face lights up, you can tell he looooves it (though he’d never say). I’m thrilled for him that he gets such love.
And he also loved being so close to the crowd in Albany and (my observation only) feeling like a “real” musician, on the road, workin’ a small grungy club.
Again, so happy for him that he gets to live his dream this way … and for this small window of time where we get to be close enough to look into his eyes while he’s doing it….
I’m melancholy….
I got a call yesterday from the Program Director at WVYB in Daytona Beach, Florida telling me I had won Meet and Greet tickets to see David next Tuesday.
After pricing airfares from Chicago (ouch!), numerous e-mails, and spending hours on the phone with FREO, I called the radio station this morning and told them I couldn’t attend and to give my spot to another fan.
I sincerely hope the lucky person loves him as much as we do.
*sniff*….I need a hug…
fandaforever48 247/248, Thx a million for the link! I just bought my Tempe ticket and I look forward to hanging out w/you and others in the mosh pit.
I work near the Marquee. If you need a ride to/from the dinner & venue, I’m available to give you a lift.
Kait 261, The Phx New Times is a free tabloid disguised as a newspaper. Other than it’s restaurant reviews, most people I know don’t take regard it as a valid news source.
As for marketing The VOICE to teens, sometimes I wonder if I’m actually hurting him more by voting for him on all these popstar, musiqtone, teen choice award, tiger beat, vh1, etc. polls.
Also, not knowing how one gets to be booked at Carnegie Hall and the likes, I wonder if the more elite venues declined proposals from David’s management w/the belief that he couldn’t fill their seats. Given the state of the economy and the number or canceled tours/events due to poor ticket sales (e.g., Janet Jackson, Avril Lavigne, numerous inaugural balls, etc.) perhaps those venues don’t want to take risks w/a newcomer.
TOfan#283: Close enough “to look into his eyes” when he sings takes the live concert experience to a whole new level. He was highly energized and extremely up when he sang at Albany and I totally agree that he enjoys the teens/tweens. Great post!
It is my speculation that he wishes to sing Pop and others in his Circle of Influence wish him to sing more serious music, not the other way around. I also speculate that he wanted this on AI given the songs that were not approved but it was not to be. And, I speculate that no one “forces” David to do anything if he is firmly opposed even though he has a gentle, sensitive demeanor. He appears to me to be quietly strong and silently resilient. If he makes choices or commitments that we don’t agree with, it would be due to youth hood…I just can’t see him as a voiceless puppet or without power.
(((( joner ))))
Wow, so many of you were in Albany. I was “stuck” with the hubby instead of basking in the glory of The Archuleta with people who understand me! It was noisy, but so much fun at the same time. I wasn’t in the pit though. I decided to hang back, but the place was so small I could still see the expression on David’s face.. sans my glasses!
refnaf, I have not been able to make it through a video from Albany. I can’t hear a darn thing! Funny how David’s voice just cut through all that noise. Magical!
I just went to Ticketmaster to se how the Infinity sales were going. Selected 2 tickets and was told no tickets available and pointed to another site called Ticketsnow (owned by Ticketmaster) where 50 tickets were left priced at $61 – $311. Sounds like “legal” scalping to me.
Thanks for clarifying about the Phoenix Free Times, ebonyangel. Sometimes I worry about this sort of misinformation perpetuating, then remember that those without ODD probably aren’t googling David Archuleta.
marlie7#289 – Would appear the legal scalpers got the supply vs demand aspect of David’s concert sales at certain venues….wow!
daisy and naturgirl – I’m beginning to accept that the IF tickets are gone. Dang it! If either of you are interested in the Boise show and don’t have tickets yet I have two extras.
Kizzi #291 & marlie7 #289, does this mean Williamsville, too, is sold out already? wow is right!
{{{{Joner}}}} that must have really stung… does it help that you’ve made some Florida fan really happy? No, huh?
Kizzi:
That seems really unethical since they are owned by Ticketmaster. So, in effect, Ticketmaster holds back a certain percentage of tickets to sell on their wholly owned subsidiary for scalpers prices.
Yeah, Williamsville is sold out unless you want one of those big priced tickets. And they are ALL general admission.
Re: Phoenix tickets…
Please help! I have checked numerous times and places but cannot find any presale tickets to the Tempe Concert at the Marquee. Tickets will be going on sale the 7th of February and are listed at $25.
I do see that “resale” ticket sites are listing the tickets for sale…as much as $150 a wack. Don’t think I want to go there just to give someone that kind of mark-up.
If someone can provide the link I would appreciate it.
Thanks
marlie7#294 – I agree. I have read this happens with really hot artists…and some artists when they realize this is happening are able to stop it. On the other hand, I find it also a moment of glee that his ticket sales are garnering this type of attention, albeit greedy and unfair to David’s fans.
SF – I spoke with Grand Sierra in Reno about tickets and it is all GA even though there are seats. The agent said you have to line up and then take your seat….sounds inaccurate info to me. Anyone know anything about Reno seating to me.
Talked to Crocodile Rock Cafe in Allentown this am as I am taking a local group of colleagues and their families to the concert and the agent said the phone has been ringing off the hook and she is extremely busy!
Ummmmm….jr4da….remember out tipping point timeline…this is good stuff for it. WooHoo!
I feel like I have a first class ticket on the David Archuleta train…OTT FTW!
naturgirl – Oops! I forgot that you have plenty of Boise tickets!!
marlie7, is Ticketsnow for resellers? If so, Ticketmaster may own the site but the ticket sellers would either be legit holders who can’t go or “legal” scalpers (as opposed to Ticketmaster holding back tix).
There was some controversy here in Canada about Ticketmaster charging twice for “handling fees” — once to the first seller, then again for the resale, hmmm. I’m just glad I ordered for Williamsville in time!
Tofan #299 No, Ticketsnow looks like another ticket seller – resellers can sell right on Ticketmaster. Here’s the link:
http://ticketsnow.ticketmaster.com/InventoryBrowse/David-Archuleta-Tickets-at-Infinity-NY-in-Buffalo?pid=786981&jsonClientID=TM&intcmp=TM918209
Tess #298, have you tried calling the Marquee box office (480-829-0607)? It does seem odd that resellers have tickets before they officially go on sale.
Kizzi #297 “first class ticket on the David Archuleta train” — all aboaaaaard!!!
Tess #298, go to etix.com for Tempe/Phx tix.
I bought my tickets there per fandaforever48′s post #248. We hope it’s legit.
Just saw on FOD that some fans are talking/hoping for a private FOD concert, similar to another idea discussed.
Joner#284 that bites. So sorry. ((((hug))))
Kizzi#286 “quietly strong and silently resilient.” I think you got that just right.
TOfan#283 Yeah, I’m sure he is loving these concerts in close venues with all the interaction with the crowd. What 18 year old guy wouldn’t love being adored by screaming girls?
#251 HG and # 272 Angelica’
Let me join you in the ‘I LOVE Waiting For Yesterday’ chorus. I think this song is insanely brilliant and catchy. I so wish it was the next single as I feel it possesses the same irresistible power of Crush, only it sounds even more mature. We would sit back and relax as it climbed the charts and became a monster hit. Can you imagine the video? The chorus is so awesome I can’t explain. Yes, Sabrina did a good job trying to describe what it feels like. Ha ha! It’s impossible, tough.
I adore “Waiting For Yesterday” also. The lyrics just ring so true to me. “I’m not gonna treat you like he did, you know that I won’t be that way”. Yes, David. We know that you won’t be that way! Isn’t he just right guy to mend your broken heart after that awful relationship?!
Kizzi – I am going to Reno too (from the SF Bay Area) and I am going to stay at the venue. I wonder if that will help to get into the show.
collegemom307: I am staying at the Grand Sierra too (if I can make the date–still up in the air). Do you have tix? They are on sale. Guess we will have to line up early. Hope we get to meet. I think there is someone putting together a Reno NDer fan meeting.
Okay, so was someone trying to contact David’s “people” to ask about the ND private concert? Is that a no-go, or was there no response, or…..
vermeer and I (and others) are going to Boise. I’d be glad to help coordinate a dinner get-together beforehand. Email me if you want to meet up before the show. LzKeefe@aol.com
Idaho Falls tickets were released at 10 a.m. Mountain Time and sold out in record time. I was overjoyed when I learned that David was coming to Idaho, but then freaked out when it looked like tickets would go fast. My hand hovered over that mouse for many minutes while I watched the clock tick away. I must have hit it at exactly the right time because my purchase went through in the first few seconds. And then, a surprise! They are VIP tickets (first five rows)!
A few months ago, I lamented about the real possibility I would never see and hear David live. Now I will! Twice! My husband—not a full-fledged David fan yet but definitely MY biggest fan—is driving me four hours across the state and attending with me. The next day we return home in time for me to take my granddaughter to the Boise concert. She’s my cover and someone I can lean on—literally!
Sorry for the rambling (mine isn’t as cute as David’s), but I just had to share with fans who understand how exciting this is for me.
SF#260: I too am 60 and share your feelings about watching David’s career & life unfold. I am hoping to get to Reno for his show. If I do go, I really hope to meet you. You are such a witty writer & I always try to read what you have to say. Hope the ball game is fun!
Kizzi..the Grand Sierra concert is general admission..seating is first come, first served. Even if you’re a guest at the resort, you still have to get on line if you want a good seat close to the front..there is standing room in the “pit” area in front of the stage..all this info per the call I just made to the Grand Sierra. I asked why the tickets have sec & seat #’s..she said to disregard. AND she also said, it will be sold out. Reservations for rooms at the resort should be made ASAP cuz they are expecting the hotel to be fully booked!
Yes, Kizzi, I have my Reno tickets. So far in my blog reviewing, it appears that Silverfox is going and from FOD Island Archangel (Kalei from Hawaii who did a big lunch event before Sacramento jingleball);Seattle Archie;Caseydog;Marty;Becca;Jana;Shelly;Heather;Arthurflame; from Snarkeys – Janey. So, anyway, I think we will have to think of some way to meet up. Even if it is only meeting at the venue for drinks/snacks/dinner or whatever. I haven’t actually researched, I just started jotting down names as they came up in reading.
GranFan – I am so excited for you that you got the tickets. What a wonderful hubby. And I am taking granddaughters (a tween and a newly turned teen to a concert) and it will be such fun!
Collegemom: oh…great list…we have to meet and SF will be there so I know something momentous will happen!
SF – when are you going to wait in line at Grand Sierra? There will be a party going on around your segment of the line.
hi all~~ I guess you need the “remove” to post links so here ya go..this is too funny ..looks like David is having some fun ..from snarkies…
removehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrdH39FOdyk
maggie..Woo-hoo, the ball game was a BALL! We won! And I’m a little hoarse from all the cheering!
I hope to meet all the ArchAngels and Mangels in Reno!
I’m hoping my sis comes with me..but I’ll be going by myself if she doesn’t..
Making room reservations right now..already printed the tickets.
Kizzi..about my daily or almost daily repentance..I really try to “be good”, try to have “pristine” thoughts, then I see a gorgeous pic or video of David singing and I forget I’m old enough to be his Abuelita..and I have to repent! I’m just wondering if the MAN UPSTAIRS is still listening or if He’s given up on me as a lost cause!
WOW at all the excitement in the air.
I have decided not to attend Boise or Idaho Falls concert, due to health reasons. SAD, but it is great to read everyone’s building anitcipation!
Will be away for almost a week and am not sure I will be able to even lurk. I am so not sure how I will deal with not being able to visit ND on a very regular basis! Oh well, I will try to be strong and there will be LOTS to catch up on.
Just want to de-lurk to say that my husband and I are going to Reno concert too. He works in Geneva, Switzerland, but luckily he will be around to go to Reno with me. I am working on converting him to a David’s fan, and seeing David perform live is going to do it.
awestruck – Sorry that the tour shows won’t work out for you this time around. Good luck with your ND withdrawal!!! Be strong haha!
quiteblanc – so excited for you. Your husband is officially a goner once he agreed to go. It is futile trying to resist!
Logistics for me did not work out, but am hoping for another tour this summer or fall. Would have loved to have experienced David in these smaller venues though. May be the first and last time he does this size concerts.
Kizzi…I have sent you an email in case you are like me and sometimes don’t check for awhile…
awestruck…even though you can’t make a concert…there will be so many videos and pictures that you will have some fun as well…and there will be stories especially for those who can’t get there this time around…
I have 2 tickets for sale that can be emailed for…Virginia Beach…Sandler Center…row R…seats 101 &102…no one in front because there is a break in the seating…
This from FOD…
Good news from our Very Reliable Source! It is “very unlikely that David won’t play Utah.”
Translation: Utah will not be left out of the David Archuleta concert tour.
It is a near certainty that David will be performing at two different mid-size venues in Utah (think 4,000 each or so).
FOD will update you as soon as we find out the details!
***Band on Tour!
Yes, there will be a band! The band is awesome, and David loves them.
{{{awestruck}}} will be thinking of you… hang in there and load up your iPod or stereo with you know who (as if you haven’t done that already!
