How did we go from awkward rapport and stumbling stage management to easy nonchalance and complete charm in less than six months? Dang it, this kid is a sponge. I also think he is realizing just what home means to him.

because I was so critical of the Albany crowd I would also like to say that the audience at this venue was terrific- respectful and involved and excited, screamed at times, but not overly so, quiet when they needed to be… real a pleasure

I wanted to say on other occasions, no matter where David is performing as as small as this or as large as MSG, he has developed a sense of intimacy with his voice esp. whenever he sings ATM. You get the feeling like when you surround a person playing the piano and everyone joins in for a sing-along.
I think his casual attire adds to this effect and you feel warm and cozy just listening to an old friend. It doesn’t matter if he has a flub here or there – the point is to just relax and enjoy the moment.
Nothing is gimmicky and you feel hardly any separation between him and the you – the audience.
did you see the vid of the little dances-are they up? very spontaneous and adorable- and quite capable I might add…point number one- add in more spontaneous dances…
Happy – Absolutely the best reporters. Listening at “accordion” walls for the song line up; talking to the promoters for concert details; courting the press for details and so much more. I think you and Ninaf and daughters should win an AWARD for best pre-concert information!!!!
To me – the BEST part – He seems so HAPPY. He loves singing for people . . plain and simple . . pure JOY!

At this rate – David can produce an entire album acapella. What a talent – perfect, PERFECT pitch!
He is incredible. Omg. Absofreakinlutely incredible. How does he transform in so short a time? He mutates like a virus. No wonder we’re all infected with ODD and there’s no cure.
we arrived at 3:45 to eat, the line had already formed to pick up wristbands/tix at 5 and then enter at 6:30. The HRC ran a very smooth ship and the venue should be commended if smooth and tight was what they sought– no one in the restaurant really seemed to have any idea about what was transpiring on the other side of the wall, nor around the corner near the side entrance…
it was cold and we were hungry so we were going to eat first. We waved to the line waiters and went inside, through the store and downstairs to the restaurant. At the bottom of the stairs you cold go right to the resturant or left to a room. in the middle was the backdrop thing where celebs get interviewed and stuff…we knew we were in the right place!

I’M HOME!! My daughter and I went to get something to eat after the show right in the HRC restaurant. Happy and her daughter had to go and I see she ended up getting home before me.
As everyone knows, the show was amazing!! David had so many adorable dorky moments. He’s gotten to be such a natural on stage that it’s hard to believe those awkward, uncomfortable times were not that long ago. I loved the stopping on ATM and the crazy dance he did when they put on the wrong music for Crush – it just made him more lovable. I know the vids are up, my daughter took a lot of pictures that came out really good, I just don’t know how to post them – she’s asleep so I guess we’ll figure it out tomorrow.
we went over to the restaurant and were greeted by a picture taker who took our picture in front of memorabilia to try to sell the picture to us (think cruise ship) … we chatted her up…. yes David is here blah blah.. he was just warming up… no one is allowed to go over by the room etc. …
we went in to the restaurant/bar and sat down. We immediatly told our waitress why we were there… “oh yes its all very hush hush.. we didn’t know until he arrived who was performing tonight.. can’t you hear him?…over there”… and she points…
HEAR HIM? ARE YOU CRAZY?? would we be sitting hear talking to you if we could HEAR HIM??….. we immediately send secret-agent-happy’s-11year-old-daughter to investigate… off she goes to the bar area and stands innocently by the wall…. we watch… no visible signs of excitement…. ninaf and I order….. she returns 2-3 minutes later…………
Well?….. well what?…… well, COULD YOU HEAR HIM???… oh yeh, clear as day… he sang Crush……… thud……..thud……..

happy listens to the end of ALTNOY and reports back to ninaf who sprints to the bar area…. update is filed with kizzi/SF… waitress erroneously reports that there is a live band inside (sorry for that misinformation) and we get even more excited….ninaf returns… happy heads off….. he is singing ALTNOY again……quickly shove down overpriced hamburger (sorry HRC-great venue, marginal food) and move to the little round table near the bar next to the movable wall….
WOW..how comfortable was he in front of people there just to see him! His solo (fingers crossed) concert, will be amazing…better start saving my money now.
he is singing 1000 miles….. now throughout all of this… the entire bar area and a fairly large part of the restaurant, in addition to all of the people coming and going to the bathroom, and or up and down the steps, can hear this music… and either no one noticed or recognized it- one or the other.. but it was surreal for us.. we’re getting a David Archuleta concert clear as a bell… no distortion, no screaming… just David’s voice through the wall… clear and beautiful.. and everyone else is eating and watching TV

So far I’ve seen David twice: When he came to Long Island for the Idol tour (even got to speak to him: an out-of-body-experience) and again when I won tickets to the Z100 Jingle Ball concert.
Somehow, I’m even more excited tonight if that’s possible! I just love it here and perhaps it’s due to the short starvation period – but as always, I’m loving that tingly feeling I get!

on the way past the backdrop thing a bunch of people are standing with clipboards… we chat up with 2 of the absolutely beautiful and well appointed 20-something girls… blah, blah..they are forthcoming with information and we report back to kizzi/SF..no fan interaction, 5 songs, plenty of room for everyone… many good vantage points… no worries….young unknown star of “Spectacular” opening- his first time singing live blah blah…these women confess that they think David is a doll…sweet and polite and talented…the blonde is in love the brunette is getting there…

we begin our time on line…. no need for all to freeze…. this calls for shift work…. happy waits in the cold…ninaf and girls head back in ……. happy chats with the mostly-caucasian-and-latina-older-teen-to-adult-fellow-line-waiters…. interesting line demographics considering this was a contest run by a pre-teen magazine publisher– J-14,Twist,M are all for under 13 year old girls… yes the magazine with the garrish pictures of David holding hearts and teddy bears…. but inexplicably the line is fairly devoid of any preteens…happy concludes it must be shift work… all the preteens are inside and the line-waiters are the older guardians…

happy’s shift ends…ninaf is on…happy has drawn the longer stick because as she heads back in to wait with the girls in the nice comfy lounge area by the bathrooms….. who should come out to the backdrop thing but the young “Spectacular” kid… retrieves the girls and heads back to the press area… we befriend the security guy…blah blah…sure you can stand here until my boss finds you.. he will shoo you out… just don’t bump the press people… we promise to stand quietly and be very still… we watch the “Spectacular kid” and ninaf’s-older-teen-daughter is smitten…. happy thinks he’s cute and has great teeth…and a darling smile…he’s standing 1 foot away…..will David come out? can we be so lucky?… our friend the security guy confirms it…. but my boss will surely find you before David comes out..they’ll do a more complete sweep…. LOL!
David appears from nowhere…… well not really nowhere, he comes out of the door….. but we are on the wrong side of the press line!!!! we will surely be found out before he makes his way all the way down here…. shoo, shoo “Spectacular” kid, you are standing so in front of me you are blocking my view of DAVID!!! and I am not long for this spot…I have no hanger hanging around my neck and my 10 year old daughter is a little bit young to be member of the press and ninafs daughter is smitten and is no longer still and quiet and we are going to be shooed away by the boss in his sweep!!!…..
This little tidbit even Happy doesn’t know about – After the concert was over, we realized no matter how sweet and persistent we could be, or how cute and flirty my 18 yr. old daughter was to the head sponsor there, we were not going to get meet and greet passes. I was a little disappointed because I had enlarged the picture I had with David from the AI meet and greet for him to sign and Happy had a letter she wanted to give to him. Anyway, my daughter had not eaten before so we decided to go back into the restaurant for a bite – Happy and her daughter had to get home.
When we finished eating and left the restaurant, we saw a bunch of people just standing around. I noticed that Lupe was there as well as Jeff – he was talking to some young ladies about the age of my daughter who I recognized from pictures I had seen month’s ago on Ricky’s Blog. I decided, since I had spoken briefly to Jeff before at the first AI meet and greet that I went to, I would try to talk to him again. After the usual introductions, I told him how amazing I thought David is, what an unbelievable career he will have and how excited I am to witness what the future holds for him. So this is some of the information I got from Jeff…..there will be a solo tour sometime in Feb. or March and YAY, they are releasing SOT as a single to be purchased on i-tunes fairly soon. He wasn’t aware of Rascal’s wonderful video so I told him to check it out on u-tube. He then thanked me for being so supportive of David and his career and that’s about it.
Sorry this is so long, I just tried to remember every detail and Happy is so much better at this than I am!

This fanvention is starting to sound as though it could happen. I’ve been watching my pennies, I have one daughter in college, and another on the way in the fall, but I believe in treating myself, and this would indeed be a treat. Especially if he’d bust a move again.

I should have stayed longer to see if David would finally come out, however, it was getting late and I couldn’t be a totally irresponsible mother. My daughter does have to get up early for school tomorrow, I’m sure she had homework that she hadn’t done yet, and besides that “Spectacular” guy was nowhere in sight. Oh well, I’m left wondering if I’ll ever get to actually meet David again.
Count me in for any private concert – I will find the money, even though I do have 2 kids starting college in the fall!!
well, the rest, as they say is history…. we wait the remaining time on line and enter the venue without incident…they are serving juices and pina coladas(no rum) in pretty cups with waiter service…everyone is happy and friendly and no one is panicked because there is plenty of room and the stage is high and their are 3 levels all with plenty of room to stand in front…we set up on the stairs that lead right to the bottom of the stage, so we are stage left but above heads and very close…right in front of the speakers again, but that’s the price you pay….
He’s gonna have to bust a move when he busts out “Your Eyes Don’t Lie.”

I did video the whole show because I was able to lean my elbow on the railing and hold it without looking…..I could see plenty of vids being taken but wasn’t sure if they’d keep rolling for the banter in between..it seems they all did…. yay for youtubers….. not nearly as annoying when the cameras are not directly in your face……and it was definatley not one camera for every other person, a more normal amount…. also, we are now proud owners of 3 preteen magazines and 4 e-pets called “rescue pets” compliments of the promoters…. interesting gift bag gifts considering the demographics of the people that actually showed up…
So funny – Kara DioGuardi is supposed to be a guest on Letterman tonight, but Dave is having way too much fun with Billy Crystal. Wonder if Kara will make it on – Dave doesn’t really go for pop culture stuff like Idol. Remember when the network forced him to have Survivor cast-offs on and he only agreed to interview them by remote from the Hello Deli? haha!

so rascal- i missed ALL of the demographic/marketing discussions, but I will tell you, we chatted with the guy that did the introductions on stage as we were leaving…he said the response to the contest was excellent -1 winner to every 100 or so entries = 20000 entries, so ninaf was really lucky (and I was even luckier) and the preteens were not present in large numbers… very few infact…mostly adults and older teens- a great demographic i think…it was interesting to watch the press work the pre concert room
That little dance! He said he couldn’t dance – not true! i’d love to see more of him letting go like that – gads, I’m a puddle.
I just had to share this comment by (I think Lori) at snarky archies: “Only David can stop in the middle of a song (A Thousand Miles) and everybody treats it as if it was the most brilliant move made in musical history”.

happy – thanks for your reports! Can you share more info on the demographics – what was your take overall? Interesting how you mentioned lots of Latinos along with older teens/adults – I think Latinos are another strong part of David’s fanbase being a bit neglected by TPTB…
By the way, just as I suspected….Dave is giving Kara about three minutes…I love Dave, he is who he is and doesn’t care what anyone thinks…just like our David

it seemed that David would have sung another song if it were up to him…. he was absolutely enjoying himself…. (oh I’m not complaining but I would so have loved him to sing lean on me)….. you can’t see it on the vid above but the front row was comprised of older teen/young woman who were tall enough to lean onto the stage floor reaching out for most of his performance..he enjoyed connecting with them… most definitely….you can see him talking directly to them about the songs…he really wanted to make them happy with the song that he picked..
Goodnite all, I’m so glad that Happy and I got to share this unbelievable experience with the ND community. As you all know, not everyone “gets David” and granted, we don’t always agree on everything, but the one thing that is unanimous here is, our love for David….and with that sweet dreams.

Kara was pretty good on Letterman. Dave kept the quick interview substantive for the most part … asked her how she got into songwriting. Best part though was when Dave said “and is that awful Simon guy still on?”

littleM- in the venue… mostly caucasian and latino, high school, young adult, and adult with a small number of preteens, many more females than males, but there WERE males there of all ages- many of the males were well dressed and I wonder if they were not affiliated in a more professional way….NOT a preteen crowd of screaming girls…much, much, much less screaming than in albany. I enjoyed the crowd.

Well-dressed males huh? Well I can say that my two friends here who are huge David fans are also well-dressed males…I think they are another important part of the fan base…good to hear they were represented as well

need to go to bed, just want to say David has come a long way in his comfort level, as rascal noted. he still needs to slow down- feels a bit rushed, but he is definitely a performer and he brought a lot of the strut tonight…his mannerisms were natural and not at all forced…….glad to see none of the choreography that I saw creeping in during some other videos I had seen..the glance away, the strut, the hunkerdown…all in attendance… smiling, seeking out the audience, tuning in to them… all evidence that he is paying attention to what works… singing more than 5 songs to an audience and developing a relationship with each audience over a couple of hours instead of minutes will help him to grow tremendously…he has great instincts…..he still has far to go…but I have no doubt that he will get there….in spades.

also- one last thing, cause I’ll forget it tomorrow…went to watch the crush vid on snarkies… you can’t appreciate it fully unless you see it up close, or at least it’s lost from the distance of that camera, but the transformation he makes when the music starts- the speed and the completeness of it is remarkable… he’s joking and laughing about the mistaken music, then the crush instrumental starts and a complete wave comes over his face and body in an instant… a true, complete, and instantaneous transformation…. he is something else live….
I noticed the transformation from jokester to professional without missing a beat. I thought it was mind-blowing!

It IS wonderful how he transforms instantaneously into the song he is singing. Just as remarkable tonight, was the way he used mishaps of wrong music and stopping in the middle of a song as opportunities to ad lib or do impromtu dance moves. All with amazing grace. He has become suddenly smooth and silky. What just happened?

MyGosh, David sounded so goooooood. I almost forgot that I was listening to a live performance (that is after viewing his performances for the NTH time!). What would jerk me back to reality were his stylizings here and there.. this kid is out f this world.
And about that spontaneous dancing – is it just me? 1st reaction of course was LMAO! Cos my heck, where did those moves come from?!
Then, esp when he shimmied? I got this weird, warm, nice feeling at the pit of my stomach –like I saw him older suddenly? I cannot explain it but that’s the best way I can describe the feeling… Am i making sense?
In any case, am so glad that David was having a blast – happy and contended. So natural and at ease up there on stage. The old adage “home is where the heart is” couldn’t be more apt in his case. His home and heart being whenever, wherever and however he can make music and share it with people he loves. And share it with a passion, you could almost taste it even if seen through a small, flickering, computer screen.
How can one not love someone who loves us back that much?

I’m so there for a private NYC concert. I was just chatting with a buddy who said he moved into a larger place in Park Slope – with lots of room for me to stay when I visit! Plus I’ve got two other college friends there I’d love to meet up with. Man – fares from Seattle are only $241 RT in Feb or March. MUST … MAKE … THIS … HAPPEN.
I don’t want this to come off as snobbish, but I would hope there would be some way to ensure that legit ND-ers got first crack at tickets — including lurkers, many of whom have quietly been reading here since April. Not sure how that could be done though.
Rascal, you’ve got contacts with “David’s People” right? The only person I’ve contacted and got a reply from is Dean, but I’m not sure he’d be an appropriate contact for this.
Now would really be the time to pursue this because I’m guessing the tour is pretty close to being booked full and there might not be an open date around the time he’s in the Northeast …

I’m absolutely blown away by his perfomances…and yes, he seemed so relaxed and happy – delighted in doing what he loves, for sure. And, the dancing before Crush!!! Unexpected, impromptu – making a moment the fans cherish. Just an extraordinary (New York) time!! Again. David at this point is full of fun…and surprises. How is it possible to love him more and more??

I agree with Caseydog–let’s find out ASAP if this type of event is even possible (will David’s contract allow him to make a private performance even if his booking fee is met? What exact costs will be involved–like Rascal said, band –if David plays with band — and equipment rental, catering available, cost for videographer). If we get a yes, then we should move ahead and secure venue, date, and then get busy raising the $ through ticket sales and contributions.
The person who handles the $ should definitely have great business sense and savvy to avoid a fanblast-type situation.
We can split up some tasks to make the work more manageable.
I think that Casey is right: it would be great to start with ND folks with first crack at tickets. I think news will spread like wildfire once other sites hear about it. I really don’t think it will be a problem to find people willing to spend even $200 for a ticket amongst the different sites alone.

I agree, but how to do the logistics on this? Many of us post as screen names, and many others (not necessarily lurkers but casual readers) visit this site. What type of “first dibs” situation can be realistically created? This feels more like a “first come first served” type of sign-up, which may privilege NDers but it also may not. Considering the way news in the Archuworld travels like wildfire, I can see many non-NDers signing on for this if we make it happen.
HG, thank you for b-day wishes! I agree…I think with the ‘net the way it is, there’s no way to limit who comes first, unless someone else knows a way. ND may have the advantage of knowing about the event early on, but beyond that, first come first serve.

This will seem like convenient hindsight and don’t know if it’s true but when David said he had made New Years resolutions, my mind instantly came up with 1) stage presence and 2) dance moves. Don’t know why but that hit me right away.

Okay, folks, a few things:
1. Casey and Freo are right: Schedules and current contracts might prohibit them from being able to do this–at least under the auspices of a ticketed concert set-up… It may need to be characterized as a “private party” with a lump-sum payment, if there is even time in the New York schedule.
2. I have submitted an initial inquiry to David’s people. One of our members with means generously offered $5000 as an up-front guarantee. That will certainly get the ball rolling if the ball is to roll at all.
3. Attendance would have to be on a first-come first-serve basis. Because my strong suspicion is that it would need to be characterized as a private party, we could not authorize posted announcements–in other words, we could talk about it in comments, but no main article postings. Which means it starts right here, and would spread organically thereafter. Capacity is 350, I think 200 would need to be a minimum guarantee to cover costs and leave something for Team David (we’ll know more about costs if/when I hear back from them).
4. We would probably set up a PayPal account. Josie could manage it or even my mom, who is a bookkeeper and the most responsible, organized, and ethical person on the planet. We also have a generous offer from marlie7 to do the event coordination part (the venue itself is also very well versed in all of the type of planning and organizing that would be needed).
5. Don’t get excited until we learn if this is even possible contractually, scheduling-wise, or even interest-wise. But at the end of the day, it’s a fairly straightforward set up. If it’s possible for David, it should not be difficult to arrange.
Oh, for a scream-free evening. Ladies and Gentlemen… Mr. David Archuleta….
The Fanvention idea was thrown out here a couple months ago by ronaldsf..and we ran with it on & off. We thought a get-together for David’s fandom..would be a dream come true..just to meet everyone.
The CONCERT idea is even better, but if we pull this off, and David’s people agree to it..I wouldn’t want it to be a typical concert setting. I would hope we could make sure David will not feel ANY pressure as far as performance is concerned. I would want to make sure the the whole reason for it would be to spend quality time with him..the performance is secondary..only because that was the only way to GET him to party with us. I mean the whole purpose would be to spend time in the same room with him for a couple of hours, right?
The concert/performance would be something we would remember for the rest of our lives for sure, and maybe I’m not finding the right words..but for a typical concert, David would perform, then leave right afterwards..or maybe m&g with a few fans..I would want David to know this is a gala in HIS honor and would want him to feel comfortable and at ease enough with us to want to stay awhile.
Am I making sense? I dunno…
And don’t be too surprised if other sites are thinking about doing the same thing..clandestine, of course,,cuz they can.
silverfox — I understand your sentiments. It is part of the reason why I wanted to put a moratorium on cameras for the event. No “photo ops.” It is a private party where David is both the guest of honor and the entertainment (nothin’ for nothin,’ he’s not getting a possible five-figure fee for eating nutter butters and chatting up cougars). This whole idea is taking my breath away! I esp love the “no cameras” thing. When I first met David last summer I could not bring myself to ask one thing of him – no picture, no autograph, I just wanted to say I love you. I did go back the next day to get a pic with my son and an autograph for a friend but I liked the first day better. He has given us and continues to give us so much.
So Rascal, wow, wow, wow.
And his confidence when he is performing? If I could have formed a complete, coherant sentence after seeing him in Utah that is what I would have said. That and his determination to give the audience his focused attention, face by face, is remarkable. Stunning.

Just checking in over lunch: I could hardly sleep last night I was so excited about this possible event!
I like Rascal’s idea of no official postings. If the event is “a go,” news of it will spread like wildfire across the fan community. Perhaps we could make the tickets (with a limit of how many tickets per person) available to posters on ND (if Rascal is able to retrieve e-mail addresses of registrants to the site)? And then after a certain date, open the ticket sale up to others?
Also, it crossed my mind that David might not be able to perform for a non-official ticketed event (and NY may have state laws about that — I know that Michigan won’t allow people to have raffle events on their own without a license), but instead he may be allowed to perform for a “private” function. We may have to raise the money through donation.
I know we’ll cross these bridges when we come to it.
About how to allow David to stay for a few hours. Perhaps other musicians do this, but the band Air Supply has a yearly “fan day.” The band eats lunch (often at a head table) in the same room as the fans to the ticketed event. Then, the band does an informal Q&A session, and fans run fun prize giveaways, and then a short concert by Air Supply as a treat. Maybe this might even be too formal for us; just throwing out ideas.
I think the no-photo is an excellent idea. Maybe our videographer could take a class photo of us with David.
I volunteer myself to help do a fan casual get-together earlier in the day, for people arriving the night before or that morning.
Folks, please refer to #5 in comment #124. This is probably a long shot. Don’t get too excited just yet.

I have lurked here for a very long time. I love reading everyones comments. I have never posted becuz I am not very good with words. Today I decided to write because the HRC videos made me crazy. I wanted to be there. I have seen him live at the Idol concert and the Chicago Jingle Bash. I actually had balcony seats but managed to sneak down to 14th row main floor w/my daughter at the jingle bash. THe small venue would be amazing I think. And if you guys pull off a private concert, I will have to find a way there. I love this kid.

I only had four hours of sleep last night because I was at The Hard Rock Cafe …or so it seemed…Once the videos and news started to come in I had to stay up for the rest…Everyone here went to bed and by 1:30 am I followed but by then I couldn’t get to sleep…wide eyed and awake…So, I carefully left the bedroom, stepped over three sleeping labs, didn’t turn the lights on and went for a sleep aid…then to the computer…I found the “Crush” video and David with his moves…I didn’t dare to turn the sound on but it made me smile anyway…I had to find another bed because two of the labs stole my place in bed…pillow and all and I couldn’t move them without waking up the whole household!!! The guest room and bed were cold but finally I fell asleep only to be up at 7 to get ready for a morning meeting!!! What a night at the HRC!!!
I would like two tickets please if it happens…my husband is ready to accompany me to NY…any price anytime and if there needs to be fundraising to help someone else to be able to go…count me in…mlynnehc@yahoo.ca…

I’d be happy to help in any way I can… respond to emails so you don’t get overwhelmed, rascal? Keep an Excel spreadsheet of attendees? Help your MOM?! lol Make phone calls? You name it! Adorable stuffed animal David Archuleta performed at the Hard Rock Cafe in NYC yesterday on the eve of the eve of “American Idol’s” relaunch and I couldn’t be more excited for another go-round of potential Kelly Clarkson’s. Although there always ends up being more Sanjayas.
And now that the pressure of being the reigning runner-up will soon be taken off lil’ Davey’s shoulders, perhaps he’ll have time to focus on his love life and find someone to serenade late at night. Or, maybe not.
“I think so many people want to rush things, they want to rush hanging out, they want to rush making out, and then it’s like, they don’t even know the person they’re with,” he told a reporter, sounding wiser than his 18 years. And like he’s learned quite a few lessons from watching “Sex and the City.”
In related news, David Cook has finally broken up with Kimberly Caldwell, a chick he rushed into hanging out with, rushed into making out with and explained their break up. “It’s like I didn’t even know the person I was with,” he said. OK, Cookie didn’t say that, but I image that — and the realization he could do much better — is why they ended things.

I love this site and all the wonderful people who comment. You are all true fans of this remarkable young man. I have loved him from the very first time I saw him on AI singing HEAVEN. He is pure joy to this jaguar. At least I think that is what was decided for the 50ish group.

I am so jealous that I don’t live closer to all the happenings in NYC, but I know that when I am able to see David again, it will be all the more exciting. David Archuleta Isn’t Ready for Broadway
While some ‘American Idol’ contestants have used their fame to launch their careers on Broadway, David Archuleta says he’s not going to be one of them. Archuleta would rather focus on his music career than follow in the footsteps of Broadway bound Idols like Clay Aiken or Fantasia Barrino, he exclusively told PopEater.

“I never really thought about [performing on Broadway.] I am more about performing and doing music,” Archuleta said.”Maybe my tastes will change but not right now,” he added.
Instead Archuleta gushed about performing an intimate concert in New York’s Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square on January 12. “I’m so excited,” Archuleta said. Honored to be performing in the same venue as music’s greatest legends, he added, “It’s a cozy setting, so it will be a lot of fun.”
Drawing in hundreds of screaming fans for private concert, Archuleta was finally able to interact with his fans–something that was difficult to do during the nationwide ‘American Idol’ tour. Even though he has temporarily given up sold-out arenas, Archuleta is excited things are starting to calm down. “It’s really chill and laid back… I’m finally getting a chance to see my family and friends,” he said.
Despite his quick breather in New York, he is already planning for the next step in his career. “We are working on my own tour… I’m excited about it because we did the ‘American Idol’ tour but it was not my own thing. It will be really exciting to see how that all goes,” Archuleta said. While no dates have been released, he promises fans that they won’t be disappointed…”

Looks like the HRC gig created a stir and helped ALTNOY’s ranking in iTunes.
From #77 last Wednesday it went down to #88 towards the end of the week. ALTNOY is now back to #76.
Meanwhile, CRUSH has been on a steady cruise at #16 or #17 for weeks now.

There are a lot of rumors flying around regarding David’s solo tour! Decisions are still being made, but one likely scenario is a stripped-down version in comparison to the full-band crew of the Jingle Balls, which cost up to $100,000 per month. We may see David accompanying himself on the keyboard and possibly the guitar. David will likely be performing in a variety of different-sized venues.
As far as single releases go, FOD reported several weeks ago that the bonus songs Somebody Out There and Works For Me will indeed become available on iTunes soon.
David Archuleta Says Idol’s New Judge Is ‘More Picky Than Paula’

Just because Idol’s new judge, Kara DioGuardi, co-wrote Kylie Minogue’s “Spinning Around” with Paula Abdul, doesn’t mean she’s as easy-going as the veteran judge. According to American Idol runner-up David Archuleta, the newest judge on the show is “a tough person” and “a bit more picky than Paula.”
But that doesn’t necessarily make her a grouch like Simon. “She has a lot of spunk,” Archuleta said Monday before a performance at New York’s Hard Rock Cafe. “She’s not afraid to tell it like it is and be herself.”
“I may say things that are negative,” DioGuardi told PEOPLE recently. “But I always try to do it with some heart and some understanding of what it’s like to be on the other side of the table.”
According to Archuleta, who collaborated with DioGuardi on his self-titled debut album and his hit single “Crush,” the fourth judge will be an interesting element added to the panel. “I’m excited about the new judge because I think Kara’s grounded,” Archuleta said. “She’s an amazing singer, an amazing songwriter.”
DioGuardi has worked with other former Idol contestants including Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Katharine McPhee on their post-show endeavors. Now, America will see what she can do with the newest crop of Idol wannabes. The new season of American Idol airs Tuesday on FOX (8 p.m. ET)

Ok, I don’t know if anyone is bothering to watch the re-run of AI season 7 on the Fox Reality channel but I am. They’ve condensed the season into a few days and today they are showing the top three, thru the finale. I just finished watching David sing And So It Goes and I was a crying blubbering mess from the sheer beauty of his interpretation of the song along with his Voice and now I’m grinning ear to ear just as he is as he just finished Chris Brown’s With You. He’s my emotional rollercoaster. I will not, however, watch the last few minutes of the finale as it is too painful.

And what better place to sing SOT up close & personal! For his adult fans who are so hungry for David to sing FOR THEM..There will be plenty of time for larger, arena type venues for the screamers ( I know, I’m one of em’ )..but in a small venue, I think I would feel like I died & went to heaven listening to THE VOICE..

My daughters love David, but do not understand my obsession because I am too old. My husband and son think I am nuts..
