A Growing Force

Composition in Black and White
For the true artist, the journey is never easy. It is as complicated as the one who travels it. He must labor for years perfecting his craft, which to his own impossible standards, is never fully realized. The execution of his art is always outdistanced by his vision. This paradox causes any artist worthy of the name to be plagued at times with self-doubt and angst. He must, moreover, engage in constant battle with forces that would diminish his art, and so diminish him. He must find the courage to be supremely indifferent to the opinions of others. If the existing state of affairs in his chosen field is anathema to who he is as a person, he must reject it and risk being considered uncool. Rather than conform to the status quo, he must, like David Archuleta, be a renegade.
Those of us who have followed his career for the past year, have been astounded by the exponential growth we have witnessed. Gone is the shy, awkward immobile singer of mostly ballads. He now takes the stage with a cat-like graceful stride and can bust a move and plug his megawatt energy into a crowd till the whole house is bouncing and rocking. He can still belt out a ballad, but is now moving with rapid precision to master pop, soul, funk, alternative rock, and blues. He has recently drawn on his Honduran roots to sing in his first language, caressing those soft consonants with a perfect accent and plaintive delivery that will lay you to waste. He moans, he growls, he falsettos, he acappellas, he riffs in exultant abandon. Midway through his set he is drenched in sweat and the crowd is hoarse from screaming.
He leaves us breathless and we do not know how he does what he does to us. We only know that he does it better than anyone else. Aside from his unsurpassed vocal prowess, he has the power to transmit on a cellular level by his facial expressions, indeed, with his whole body, raw, undiluted, take no prisoner emotions that are nothing short of physical in their intensity.
He is at once the laughing young boy and the man with the firmly set jaw and piercing gaze. He is the rebel with a cause, the reluctant renegade, the good man who is hard to find. He fascinates, intoxicates, bewitches, bothers and bewilders. For all his goodness, David Archuleta possesses a positively wicked charisma.
What lies beneath is a gifted, serious artist with something to say, and the ability, supplied by all of the above, to make himself completely understood.

Angelica -- I was logging off and I see this… I’ve read it three times…this is so powerful! Did you once say you weren’t good at writing? I vaguely remember this…not sure. I couldn’t find who wrote this initially…but found it on the side links.
I was trying pick one point, one thought, one observation, but I can’t. Everything you’ve stated is necessary to begin to understand who…what….why he is.
It’s like you got into my brain and sorted all my scattered thoughts of David and outlined them so beautifully and eloquently that maybe now I may begin to understand my ODD… WOW!!!!
Again Angelica…an amazing piece!
BRAH-AHH-AHHHH-VO! Standing O!
Aha! It’s Angelica!
What can I SAY??!!… PHEW! Absolutely beautifully put!
I will have to frame this one! A fabulous post!
I would only add that (imo, of course) he has already (long ago) mastered bluesy soulful r’n'b. (We KNEW I was gonna say THAT! :p) Choice performances from Star Search days, “Don’t Tell Me” and WOTWTC are documented proof enough for me on that score and it never fails to buh-LOW me away! (thud!)
But that’s just a tiny picked nit. Because the way he’s growing, as witnessed during his solo tour, in his performance comfort zones and willingness to let loose with wild abandon and improvise — not just in the soulful dept. but with the full spectrum of tints and shades in his musical palette — is indescribably stunning to behold! It’s almost as if he’s only just begun (after all these years of work) to really, really grow into his own magnificent gift and take his shoes off and make himself at home. On stage. For us!
And boyhowdy, can he make me understand!
A great way to end the night, Angelica! Again, bravo!
Angelica, bravo indeed!
I love this, “For all his goodness, David Archuleta possesses a positively wicked charisma”.
It’s just something about David that’s been hard to figure out. After the Reno show, my daughter, Ash (a young male fan we met there), and myself went to the bus to get autographs. Afterwards, when we were walking back to the hotel, Ash said, “It’s not really about getting an autograph, but just being close to him”. I knew exactly what he meant. He draws us to him like moths to a light.
Angelica, I think you’ve covered every facet needed to get to the heart of the matter of our beautiful boy, David. You said it all, girl. I’ll bet when David was just 6 or 7 years old and just beginning to sing, his voice had all those one of a kind nuances he posseses today. Maybe that is why he is slightly puzzled because he’s just doing what he has always done. As usual, that just endears him even more to us. Your piece was just perfect! Bravo!! Wicked indeed!!
This is just a fly by: I have added a couple of Pocatello vids and you may be glad to know that the links are now working — not anymore private
Enjoy!
Gotta go. CYL!
Angelica! Oh My! You’ve described David perfectly, ON THE MONEY! Especially….
“For all his goodness, David Archuleta possesses a positively wicked charisma.
What lies beneath is a gifted, serious artist with something to say, and the ability, supplied by all of the above, to make himself completely understood”.
Amen! Amen! Amen! Absolutely beautiful post and I hope beyond all hope that David or someone close to David reads and shows it to David so he no longer has to wonder why we love him beyond all reason.
Have a great day!
Angelica..
This is AMAZING. I have to print this out..and frame it.. you did it… you found the core of David.
This piece.. just can’t stay here. We have to do something just as AMAZING with it.
Someone come up with ideas… this piece has to be published somewhere.
I BOW to you… absolutely amazing.
Have I used amazing enough ?
Wow.
Angelica, a very BEAUTIFUL post. You have put into words EXACTLY what I feel and LOVE about David. He is like no other artist out there and his CHARISMA is infectious. I also love his bluesy, funk, soul, DAWN.
He had that in STAR SEARCH. Your post, Angelica, is exactly what we all see and LOVE in David. Thank you and yes, it is frameable.
Hey all .. check it out !!!
http://bringdabeatback.blogspot.com/
Zero Gravity is in the top spot !!!
Jive better be watching now !!!
It’s making web appearances all over now.. and NOT just YOUTUBE.
GO DAVID !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great post! I look forward to his continued growth as an artist and as an individual. It’s unbelievable how much of his career growth has actually been documented. Via youtube, we’ve watched him go from Star Search and Amer Idol to hearing his first song on Z100 and performing in his first solo tour.
Dawn is spamming like Abrra now …LOL
djxox and djafan… you’re right from the previous thread.
He IS going to cry in SLC… and he won’t be alone. I don’t know if there will be a dry eye in the house… I know not in mine.
The intensity within me is building up already… and I’m NOT David.
Perhaps we’ll all have to have a phone a jder support line that night
Carryover from previous post:
Zero Gravity is getting some buzz! A station David visited in Feb. 97.9 KISS Jacksonville) has put ZG up on their website.
http://www.979kissfm.com/cc-common/news/sections/newsarticle.html?feed=254787&article=5205024
Love that image!
Beautiful post, Angelica. Good morning everyone!
This is good news, Ebonyangel! I sure hope this is the beginning of the viral spread of ZG!
Angelica,
Thank you for your incredibly well written post. It is clear that a lot of thought went into it.
Angelica… just beautifilly written, thank you.
No time to spend here today, so much to do to get ready to leave tomorrow for SLC!!! Real life needs to be set in order, and then I can let it sink in that I am actually going all the way from TO (with TOfan) to UTAH! I’m in archustupor today…
Great news on the viral ZG, I’m trying to get my sons’s band to cover it, they are pop punk and a little too not into David but when I played it for them they were impressed , yeah. We will see what happens.
Angelica, You verbalized so beautifully the essence of David Archuleta. I will be at the private meet and greet in Cleveland and I think I should have a chance to hand him something. If it’s OK with you, I will print your post out --should I frame it Dawn65? — and give it to him. You are a true David Archuleta connoisseur, like so many of the jDers here.
Angelica: You go, girl!!! I was waiting for a post from you!
“He must find the courage to be supremely indifferent to the opinions of others” <<< that’s David
“He moans, he growls, he falsettos, he acappellas, he riffs in exultant abandon.” <<< that’s David
“For all his goodness, David Archuleta possesses a positively wicked charisma.” <<< that’s most definitely David
Notice how many people cited that last line?
It’s one of the missing pieces of the puzzle of our ODD.
David Archuleta satisfies our senses on all levels. Someone who is this satisfying is hard to put down. How privileged we are to have this multi-talented artist in our lives!
Thanks, Angelica for an excellent post.
ITA with Dawn. This one should be out there for everyone to read, including Mr. Wicked Charisma, himself.
yjf.. framing it would be nice. Try to get shatterproof glass for the flight home? Not sure I’d put a picture of him.. he’s not a big fan of self portraits.. LOL.
I think it’s a great idea..also try to bring him a McFly CD. If you need help getting one, let me know and I’ll see if I can help.
I’m still so excited about you going. And this piece.. is such perfection. If he reads NOTHING we’ve ever written.. he must read this, but we’ve been told repeatedly..that he reads EVERYTHING.. so go for it !!!!
bebereader “Someone who is this satisfying is hard to put down” .. and if we try..we still can’t !!
After a night of strep throat chaos at my house, I had next to NO time to feed the animal that is ODD.
I retire to bed.. flipping through the channels… the Daily 10 is on doing a top stories of the day piece. Turned out to be about Cook and his message to his stalker fans.
However.. every video they put up… had our David strolling around in the background.. he must have been there 10 times.. LOL.
There’s no escaping him 8)
..and I must say.. that in comparison.. I’m so proud to be a part of David’s fanbase.. his fans are the best. The RisingStar Outreach donations have already surpassed 13K.
That kind of power.. is a force to be reckoned with.. I’m glad God knew who to trust it with 8)
Dawn: Did you see how fast the thermometer shot up? I couldn’t believe my eyes when I checked it last night. Talk about lightning speed! Kudos to all of us who contributed to such a worthwhile cause. We are going to make David so proud!
ZG FTW!!!!
Slowly, but surely!!
Dawn, Shatter proof glass will be unnecessary as I only live 20 minutes from the venue. If Angelica approves, I think I will print the post out, sans self-portrait, in nice paper (without framing) and give it to him to keep. I will also include a McFly CD (which one should I get?). Perhaps you guys can write a few words to send him off to McFly, which I will print out to accompany the CD– this meet and greet is just a few days before his trip across the pond. (Still don’t know why his is coming this way for this appearance which is smack in the middle of Asia and UK – doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.)
Angelica,
You encapsulated it. Bravo. Well done!
It’s that moaning thing that really gets me. It’s so very real.
It lays me to waste every time.
Angelica,
With love comes understanding. And you have them in spades on the matter of David Archuleta.
Bravo!
No time, but just had to say, Angelica, YOU are wicked good! That is an
amazing piece. Thank you for this.
yjfanofdavid .. shatterproof glass would be for David’s flight.. LOL.
Having second thoughts on the McFly CD.. David has probably researched them thoroughly. I’m starting to worry less about that.. I think he’s brilliant and know exactly what to pull out of the Archuleta arsenal to wow them.
Get him Craisins instead.. LOL.
We can maybe put together some notes for him for his UK sendoff.. maybe we can put all our creative heads together and come up with a nice gift. We’ll need SF’s input on this.. since she has the radar on this .. LOL.
It’s a nice idea.
bebereader.. I AM surprised how fast that thing shot up. I also sent a suggestion to FOD yesterday to have a donation box at the SLC event, bearing in mind, some of David’s fanbase isn’t old enough to have a credit card, but can certainly participate in an event like this. They thought it was a great idea. Nice way of showing David his impact..and OUR support at his last solo tour freshman show.
Angelica, stunning post, absolute perfection… but get your byline up there, girl!
And that image is almost as powerful as your post. Gotta go read again!
Oh, and ebonyangel ~ Thanks for the link to that radio station. Maybe this is how it starts. The virul video. Am very curious about how it got there, who did it, the poll they included, etc.!
They should have included djbell’s video! Just to get the whole package out there!
Angelica, I have come out of lurkdom for the very first time to say thank you for that eloquent post. It touched me at a visceral level and brought me to tears. “We don’t know how he does it, we only know he does it better than anybody else.”
“Didn’t know that I could feel the way that I do now. I’m not asking for an explanation. All I know is that you take me away and you show me how to fly.”
Your post. Now that’s what I’m talking ’bout!
Angelica..this post is your creation..you must take credit for your beautiful & insightful description of David. I agree with TOfan! And not only that…it should be shared with the other fan sites, ie..FOD, Snarky’s and David’s official site, if it hasn’t already been copied & posted..which is another reason Angelica should sign it. It’s too good and is a must read by all David’s fans.
Dawn, I am laughing at my own cluelessness.
I like what you said: “I think he’s brilliant and know exactly what to pull out of the Archuleta arsenal to wow them.” So scrap the CD idea. Whatever you guys want me to deliver from jD — nothing too complicated though, not sure I will have the presence of mind to do anything more invovled than jsut handing him some stuff. lol.
Angelica!!!! Loving the post! My favorite:
“He leaves us breathless and we do not know how he does what he does to us. We only know that he does it better than anyone else”
And it all starts with that awesome “Composition”…
My absolute favorite pictures of David are the black and white ones. I believe they capture his “aura” the most and they heighten my senses more so than the color ones. I have always preferred B&W photography.
Thank you Angelica for the power of your post.
I agree.. this post needs to be scattered through the fansites.
(maybe we can shed the preconceived notion about us too ..LOL)
Seriously… so in Awe of our Angelica right now.
She reached into our souls.. plopped our disorientation down on paper.. and now.. it makes sense to all of us 8)
Just revisited the Composition in Black and White…he looks so handsome, pensive and mature in that photo. I am loving it and I sheepishly admit I printed it for my “David album”. !!!
There! I outed myself! (actually, I have a collection of albums pertaining to one subject and one subject only)
not saying what it is though.
Angelica -- Yes, you need to add your name.
dawn65..I agree.. this post needs to be scattered through the fansites.
Maybe sent to those review writers that get David and have wrote positive things, what the heck even the not so nice ones.
To everyone here now and everyone who will join in later:
Have a wonderful spring day!!!
Talk ‘atcha all later!
I love this post! Thanks, Angelica.
I will FINALLY get to see and hear David this Friday in SLC. I have still not seen the online vids for the past month, so I have yet to hear his soft consonants!!
Lurker here…..Angelica, your post is fantastic….just had to stop by and say
“What lies beneath is a gifted, serious artist with something to say, and the ability, supplied by all of the above, to make himself completely understood”
..and we DO understand him…and we DO “get him”.and we GET what he is telling us…completely!!!
Woahhh!! Angelica, you’ve created a beautiful post. It sends me off to work with a beautiful feeling. Thanks!
Nice review folks.. this guy has ODD:
http://blog.seattletimes.nwsource.com/american-idol/2009/03/25/david_archuletas_all_about_sha.html
Caseydog gettin’ the word out there!
Goodness, I love journalists.
(some journalists!)
Maybe send him Angelica’s post?
Angelica, you definitely “get” it, which is that we still don’t fully “get” David. David is impossible to define in traditional terms, as a person or an artist. That is the essence of greatness. Greatness is essentially, the state of having unlimited potential. Once someone has said or done all that they can do, and rests of their “accomplishments” they cease being great. Excellence has no ceiling, and to think it does is a mundane notion. Jonas Salk did not stop his research just because he discovered the cure for polio.
Back to David. David is a profoundedly effective person. He changes the molecular energy of any room he’s in. He can be performing, talking, laughing, or just walking around with a plate of food. All eyes and attention instinctively go to him. On American Idol, when they performed their group numbers on results night, all eyes went to David. Where’s David?
I believe that what we have seen on this wildly successful tour is a small taste of what is to come. David’s complete control over his concerts is well documented on the numerous vidoes we see day in and day out. In just one month, his progress looks like time lapse photography. From Viginia Beach until now looks like it took place over 2 years, not 4 weeks. His audience literally surrenders to him, but unlike other charismatic figures, David is someone you can trust. I have been changed just watching a video on You Tube.I can only imagine what a full live concert can do.
Stay tuned.
Oh My Gosh! Angelica! This is MARVELOUS!
You described what we witnessed and experienced vividly; “He moans, he growls, he falsettos, he acappellas, he riffs in exultant abandon. Midway through his set he is drenched in sweat and the crowd is hoarse from screaming.”
And you explained it all: “What lies beneath is a gifted, serious artist with something to say, and the ability, supplied by all of the above, to make himself completely understood.” This really wet my eyes. Finally, from being misunderstood (at AI 7), he prevails, and becomes understood.
Thanks thanks thanks Angelica, for this awesome piece of work!
LOOK… MORE ZERO GRAVITY.. ON MTV NO LESS
http://topratedmtv.com/pop/david-archuleta-zero-gravity-lyrics-and-video#comments
I’ll just throw this out there -- with the recent attention to Zero Gravity, do you think this has been planned along??
I think it’s safe to say that ZG is going to be a bigger hit than “Crush”. The song is flying! If anyone other than David records it, Jive is absolutely nuts! Spread the word, folks. I’ve already sent the song to anyone and everyone on my mailing list.
Bliss..are you saying you have yet to see David in concert? Well..YouTube videos of his performances are good, some are great. But you don’t get the full impact until you see him live. It’s unreal. But now I understand why you haven’t gone through the “OH NO, now what?”, the “when is his next concert?”, the “I want more, gimme MORE!” The high from seeing David live is
pure bliss…then you go through a kind of withdrawal that’s kind of difficult to describe or comprehend unless you’ve gone through it.
So You must make it a point to see David in concert during his next tour, hopefully later this year. If you love David now…..
Zero Gravity is BIG and getting bigger only because of David’s interpretation and performance. No one else can do the song justice. It belongs to David. His lyrics, his music, together with Mike, done the way it’s supposed to be done. And they were “just experimenting”? What other gems do they have yet to unleash on us poor unsuspecting fools in love with David??
Dawn: Thanks for the great review of David’s show from The Seattle Times. I’m copying and pasting it here for anyone who missed it or didn’t click on the link. It bears repeating.
“March 25, 2009
David Archuleta’s all about sharing the love for pop music
Posted by Bob Payne
We interrupt our regular Season 8 programming with an update on Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta, who is currently wrapping up a very successful solo U.S. tour.
I attended his show in Reno, Nev., last Wednesday at the Grand Sierra Theatre (formerly the Reno Hilton). The 2,000-capacity venue was sold out and the line to get in (it was general admission) wound through the casino and down one side of the building outside.
I must refute the constant claim that Archuleta’s fans are all teen-age girls. While, yes, there were quite a few matching that description in the crowd, there were also plenty of men and women of all ages. In the pit in front of the stage, easily 40 percent of the people singing along and bopping up and down were male.
As for the show, well, it was fantastic. If you liked David during “Idol,” you would probably like him even more now. His stage presence has obviously benefited from months of live performances. And as the reviewer for the local newspaper noted, nary an off note was heard all night.
There are three things about David Archuleta that strike me as refreshing:
• His technical singing skills are rare among pop singers. His powerful voice completely fills the venue — and yet he always resists the temptation to go over the top.
• You can’t help but notice how much he simply loves music and singing. He’s been called a human jukebox because of the way he breaks into song every time he hears a phrase that reminds him of a song lyric.
• He’s forging a “new cool” for pop stars without even trying. He doesn’t need — nor is he capable of — the crotch-grabbing and msyoginist insults of other male artists his age. Instead, he’s constantly touting other singers — including David Cook — without expecting any such support in return.
If you saw David on this tour, share your thoughts in the comments!”
Freo,
I think the planning started directly following the Sayerville concert. TPTB were probably blown away and started scrambling. Now they are putting it out there without really putting it out there!
I think they are starting to see.
Did anyone else catch the article in the “New York Post popwrap”.
What led me to it was yahoo buzz’s zero gravity info.
A not so nice article about Cook. About him reprimanding his fans. For booing David. And for stalking him.
Freo, you said, ” -- with the recent attention to Zero Gravity, do you think this has been planned along??”
If it has been planned all along, I have to say, “Brilliant!”
That Seattle Times reviewer used the phrase “new cool.”
Is that an nD phrase, or has it caught on, or both?
anjelica -- EXQUISITE post! Just like David, just exquisite.
desertrat/EBA -- re: ZG on 979kissfm -- Good catch! Voting so far = 99.6% like it! (what the heck is wrong with that .4% ?!? lol)
dawn -- love the review! Caseydawwwwwwwwg!!! Traveling from SEA to Reno to see him!
freo -- yes, I think it was planned exactly like this!
Gotta run, my iPod is broken. Can you IMAGINE, a day without David? Noooooooooo…
Wish me luck!
…run to the iPod store to get it fixed, that is. Wish I could spend more time here.
Angelica, again, justWow!

“That Seattle Times reviewer used the phrase “new cool.”
Is that an nD phrase, or has it caught on, or both?”
Ronald: Yes, I noticed that, too. Probably both.
Have a great time at the SLC show on Friday! So happy you’re going to the last show of the tour. Can’t wait to read your review, that is, if you’re able to post one after being “lost in the clouds”.
Has anyone heard from Rascal?
Angelica, this was such a lovely post to wake up to. Thank you.
Bliss, does your stay tuned at the end of your post mean you are planning to rectify the not seeing David live yet in the near future????
I am madly thinking about how to pack a modest amount of stuff in a very small carryon bag.
For anyone planning to attend the SLC concert who wants to meet other jDers, please read my post over at the tour section: http://justdavida.wordpress.com/performance-reviews/tour-news/justdavid-tour-plans/
FREO … “with the recent attention to Zero Gravity, do you think this has been planned along??”
I’d read your post earlier, and just continued to work throughout my day, letting my Zune take me where ever it wants to take me.. “Let Me Go” just happened to shuffle through… and light bulb moment.
planned along?
I think yes.
I also think we’re looking in the wrong direction. I don’t know why this hasn’t occured me earlier.
ZG presented to Jive.. turned down.
ZG presented to CB through Jive .. turned down.
DAVID.. being the freaking genius that he is.. knew the songs potential.
He created his OWN marketing plan.
Don’t know why I never saw it before.. but he knows how Mraz got some his stuff mainstreamed.
Go back and watch the Sayerville ZG.. VERY early on in the song..19 seconds.. he turns and gives Mike a look, that I’ve always found curious.. until just now.. it made sense to me..
who knows.. I have ODD.. and sometimes I ramble nonsense.
disclaimer.. this is only IMVHO .. just a theory.
Dawn:
I just watched Sayreville ZG again, not that it was a hardship at all! haha David seemed surprised at how the fans reacted to his mention of “ZG”. He said “Some of you HAVE heard it before.” I saw the way he looked at Mike at :19 too.
Here’s the link if anyone wants to watch it again:
http://www.youtube.com/user/djbell13
bebe.. I don’t know.. it just seems like something David would do.. after he got little interest.. just throw it out there…see if it’s got more bite than bark.
David isn’t a conformer. <-- in my opinion.
Wouldn’t it be a hoot if in the end we find out it WAS in fact David that was determined to get ZG out there ?
it would go hand in hand in shedding the AI image of balladboy 8)

BTW, IM YOURS from St. George already at the Tour page.
BOISE & POCATELLO -- works in progress tee-hee
Quick! check out his SOT from St. George at the Tour Page!
thud
jackryan.. I’m at work.. I CAN’T !!!
Well technically I CAN.. .but is it that risky ?
I’ve already reached my limit of unexplainable outbursts…David related 8)
I would like to give away 2 tickets to the SLC show. They are not the best seats, (not the worst neither,) but they were the best I could get in the morning that the tickets went on sale. I literally spent more than an hour online to get them. They are separate seats. If you are interested, please let me know. claw622@gmail.com
I got these extra tickets because I thought I was too late in ordering the tickets from the FOD.
jackryan.. the audio quality on the Burns Arena.. is awesome. These are burnable quality. Impressive.. ZG yet???
that would be VERY cool. Especially if thats the quality of audio we’re getting.
My Hands is next… no trace of ZG yet
And yes the audio is fantastic!
JR -- your “quick -- get thee to the tour page” worked! What a clear and beautiful version of SOT.
Also -- the KCSG interview -- he sounds so tired.
New voicemail coming through from David. I haven’t gotten mine yet.. but can’t WAIT to get it.
I love when David whispers sweet nothings into my voicemail.
Good morning everyone from the land of platypus…
First of all, Ms Angelica…..Ms Angelica what have you written…..those were my thoughts….just cannot express them. Thank you thank you…..
Please sign.
“He leaves us breathless and we do not know how he does what he does to us. We only know that he does it better than anyone else. Aside from his unsurpassed vocal prowess, he has the power to transmit on a cellular level by his facial expressions, indeed, with his whole body, raw, undiluted, take no prisoner emotions that are nothing short of physical in their intensity.”
My experience is from watching youtubes, so for you guys who have seen David up close and personal………..no wonder some of you are wondering “WHAT HAPPEN????”
Now as Bliss said,” In just one month, his progress looks like time lapse photography. From Viginia Beach until now looks like it took place over 2 years, not 4 weeks. His audience literally surrenders to him, but unlike other charismatic figures, David is someone you can trust” .
I have done the complete MP3 of reno concert (see reno’s section for the complete download) so as a comparison, I have done a complete mp3 of his first concert Virginia beach. the difference is the excitement on his voice especially the beginning of Barriers when he said,” my very first tour, my very first show, my first crowd”. Then before ALTNOY, he asked the crowd about taking a photo. Then YEDL… I can go on and on. The VOICE….the voice….what can I say… a bonus is running.. Also changes in the arrangement of songs. But you know what, really the first show has something…… indescribable….First time to hear his interpretation os song we have heard through his cd, studio version. I do have the videos of these so I can also a megaupload of the videos but first MP3 for you listening pleasure. I suggest listen to this et and then reno and you would be surprise that similar songs, but different interpretation…. genius …
I will do it 3 to 4 comments. JR and Marlie will copy in the Virginia beach section
Similar to Reno MP3s, download them in your PC (just wait for 40 seconds, then download). save them in any directory and then copy these songs directly to your itunes/ipod. No need to play each one. Just copy directly. each song has its number from 1 for touch my hands , up to 18 for running. Numbering was based on the setlist. Thanks to JR.. Enjoy listening, as if you were there, specially Monica taped all the rambling.

Well, Angelica, what a stupendous post. Could it be you took a tour through my mind and noted our similar thoughts, passions and observations? A powerful post. I too went back just yesterday to rewatch VA Beach because I could not believe what I was seeing in the Idaho videos. The emergence of such a complete stage performer in seemingly a few weeks is staggering. Then I looked back on my first Idol concerts and realized how quickly he changed in those 53 performances. It’s always been there..it just needed the right avenues. I’m so priviledged to have been watching and I cannot wait for the future.
I have been so crazy busy today at work, I am just now getting online at home. Just want to thank you guys so much to everyone who commented on my post.
yjfanofdavid, you are welcome to print out my post for whatever reason you like.
Tofan & SF, I would be happy to get a byline. What is it?
Dawn65, you have my permission to do share away.
Thanks again. You guys are the best!

I am not a bit surprised if David is behind bringing ZG on tour. Isn’t he the one who decided to sing “All you beautiful girls” on AI, after he was told that they didn’t have permission? Rebel with a cause, indeed.
I sent a link of the AOL ZG video to my local station 92ProFM. The get David and play both Crush and ALTNOY 4x a day at least. I baited the afternoon host to get on the bandwagon and play it. i told him about the internet BUZZ that was happening.
Let’s all send something to promote it to our local radio station!!
Dawn you have become ALL time winner of Spammer-mania! You have out spammed me! ( omg I want those 2 tickets for you and me to go to SLC) araghhhh!! I can dream……….
Abrra
Abrra
Haha I spammed my name.
Abrra
LOL @ Abrra !!!
Angelica.. I found some newspapers in SLC that I’m going to fax your piece to… it’s just too good honey.
Abrra.. I can NOT go to SLC.. #1.. I don’t fly (gave it up for Lent many years ago.. and won’t do it again.. deathly afraid.. but remind me to tell you something about that later)
I’m still struggling on going to Cleveland. If it wasn’t an 8 hour drive that I’d have to take time off work for… I’d SO be there.
It’s killing me not to go..
Someday.. David and I will have a chitchat.. and I’ll tell him all the things about himself he doesn’t know.. HAHAHAHAHAHA.
No seriously… I have an AWESOME autograph.. it’s JUST the best.. and I’m trying to figure out a way to preserve it. My collection is a growing.. and I have to start my album. I have to pick up some ink tomorrow on the way home. (This sounds easy, but my ink was exclusive to Circuit City..so now it’s hit or miss trying to find it)
And I need an album.
I’ve been a basket case all day. Knowing the tour is coming to an end, and seeing all the new links to ZG all over the internet…and the new interview with David with the TV station in southern Utah has me so emotional. Is anyone else feeling the same way? I feel kinda silly if I’m the only one.

Abrra: You had a great idea when you said “Let’s all send something to promote it (ZG) to our local radio station!!” From jD alone, we have posters representing most parts of the country so we can reach a good number of radio stations across the U.S. and Canada too. I’m going to send the ZG link to a few NY radio stations now.
Thanks Dawn. It feels like he’s our child and we’re sending him out into the big bad world to make it better. I want him to be happy and healthy and fulfill his dreams. I intend to support him with everything I have. Don’t misunderstand; I’m actually crying tears of happiness. {{{Dawn}}} Right back at ya, my friend.
Vee60: You are the best! I’ll open up comments on the Virginia Beach page and if you don’t mind copying those links I’d appreciate it.
I’ve been a little tied up -- some of us are working on something new and kinda cool! Keep your eyes and ears open for news over the weekend!
Watch this at about 2:03. (Hope it works.)

Archuleta brings out fans’ youthful side
By Amanda Pierce
For the Deseret News
Published: Wednesday, March 25, 2009 4:04 p.m. MDT
To say the crowds at the David Archuleta concerts in Idaho last week were, well, a bit unusual would be an understatement.
Half the fun was just watching concertgoers interact with each other.
The teenager from Utah — runner-up in Season 7 of “American Idol” — brought out a most eclectic crowd.
I’ve attended my fair share of concerts, from N*Sync to My Chemical Romance, but I’ve never seen a crowd quite like this.
Perhaps the group of young women from a local LDS Church ward was to be expected at the Boise concert, but the group of college students dancing and drinking was a surprise.
I never thought I would see two women in their 40s have a catfight in front of hundreds of people, but that happened when one wanted to take the other’s spot in the crowd.
There was yelling, screaming, pushing, shoving and threats of further violence.
I also never thought two women in their 70s would cut in front of me while waiting in line for a concert.
For the most part, the teenagers were better behaved than the adults. Archuleta made grown women act like teenagers.
People ages 4 to 70-plus were in attendance at both Archuleta concerts (Idaho Falls on Friday and Boise on Saturday). Many fans were jumping and dancing, but some could barely walk on their own and had to be helped to their seats as they hobbled along with canes.
Story continues below
There were fans proudly displaying their membership in online fan communities, but also fans who had only seen Archuleta on “American Idol.”
There were high school students on dates and married couples escaping from the children for a night. But the biggest group in the two crowds was made up of mothers who brought their daughters — and both were equally excited to see Archuleta perform.
And it wasn’t just women and girls, there were also men and boys in the crowds, too.
The Murray teen seems to have found a way to appeal to all ages.
For many, Archuleta’s concerts were a family activity. Mothers, fathers, sons, daughters and even grandparents were all in attendance.
There were multiple families where the daughter, mother and grandmother came together.
And people traveled from all over to see Archuleta perform — including a contingent that travels from city to city so they can attend multiple concerts. Last weekend, some drove from Seattle. Many came from Utah. One group of fans flew to Boise from New York City for the show.
When Archuleta noticed their sign displaying how far they had traveled, he was stunned and became flustered while introducing the next song.
Maybe the crowd is a reflection of how unique Archuleta is. He put on interesting and amusing shows, complete with funky dancing and unashamed silliness — courtesy of the adults.
Abraa.
Thanks for that link to Jennifer Barry’s photos. In all my Arhie daze, I have never seen anything like these!
Here is just one, don’t know if it will work here. Let’s see.

you
ok?
Angelica- beautiful.
jackryan.. you gotta love David’s fans. They provide us with such a treasure trove of pure joy.
I have images of David receiving standing ovations.. from family rooms, home offices, bedrooms, laptops.. all across the globe at the end of Friday’s show.
Anyone and EVERYONE..that plans on attending.. and plans on taking ANY video at all.. my only wish.. is you NOT take the camera OFF of him when the show is finished….not until your absolutely 100% sure he’s not coming back out.. AT ALL.
I have a gut feeling.. this is going to be a monumental moment in our journey.
juliebug,
OMGOSH, I just noticed your post. I am dying here LMBO!

Anyone know a simple sound editing program ?
Abrra the spammer
Abrra.. I definately need a class. I need sound editing, aspect ratio, the whole nine yards. This tour has been touch on David.. although in his interview, he emphasized many times how much fun he’s had.
Documenting this tour.. will be a labor of love to get it done right..and I think it will take us several months.
Jackryan4da,… it’s me again. I would like to ask about DA and DC concert in MOA, how can I purchase the ticket and if you have any idea how much it will cost? Can I ask again your email ad so I can personally send you email? Or if it’s ok with you, you can email me at ozc_1968@yahoo.com
Ma’am, I already purchase plane tickets for Manila on April 1 with the return date April 6 but unfortunately DA’s concert is pospone so I have to rebooked it. I will be traveling with my son and husband and have to consider how much it will cost us to go to the concert. I will appreciate it very much if you can give me some information about the concert.
Thank you very much, ma’am. Hope we can meet and attend the concert together.
GODBLESS
bebereader 2:21 -- I’m pretty sure that Rascal is cooking up something nice for us. He’ll be back with us soon….

I want to be able to clip off the commenting by audience when he starts singing or when he pauses. How many times can we hear ” Can I have your water bottle? ” grrrrrrrrrrrr
Abrra
oh no honey.. if we’re clipping anything off.. it HAS to be during TBWY.. when there are always …I love you David…loud and clear across the venue. It’s crazy.
We’ll talk.. I don’t want to spam anymore.. I’ve been bad today 8(
Just an FYI from FOD for whoever may be interested…ahem!
Live video chat with Eli! ELI! Wed., March 25, 10 ET/8 MT
I’ll miss it though. Have to get ready for my trip to SLC! Hope to meet gazillions of people all with one thing in common..we are all cra-zeh about David!
Good night everyone! For David..
Dear Lord, Though we are unworthy to ask,
Please take care of David. Watch over him, Protect him from all harm. Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path. Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give. Surround David with loving and supportive people who love him UNCONDITIONALLY as we, his Archangels do. Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being. Give him rest when he’s weary. Give him stamina to sustain his hectic pace. Give him assurance when he feels doubt. Give him joy when he feels sad. Cloak him always in your protective arms during this time on his journey. Keep David and HIS VOICE healthy & strong as he fulfills his Destiny which was written in his Book of Life before he was born.
Though we may be unworthy, we humbly pray.
Amen.
David, sweet dreams. Be safe & secure in our love always! Contigo siempre con amor!
liz941- did you mention cooking?…. rascal part of the bake-off?… do you think he can beat out my brownies?
Angelica…thank you for the wonderful reading…I hope that it gets published and leave it to the jDers and it will…
I am taking a break from getting the house in order so that we can leave in the morning and when a person hasn’t checked in you find that there are so many comments to read…I am not complaining because they will give me the energy I need to finish up!
Everyone is working so hard here to prepare the videos from each concert venue and contributing such wonderful writings…I hope that I can contribute in some way very soon…
If there is anything that I can do for you in SLC please pass it along!! I am really scared at what dawn65 might ask me to do…such as a kidnapping or something along that line!!
My subconscious usually works overtime and right now it is pressing me to feel that something big is going to happen…don’t know what though but it makes me nervous~~~~
SB…”I am really scared at what dawn65 might ask me to do…such as a kidnapping or something along that line!!” …
No.. I’d never think of such a thing. Gosh.. now I’m paranoid.
Oh happy -- nothing beats your brownies! Yum!
Oh, if anyone here is going to SLC…I will be the one with the dark rather short hair (dark as of 3 pm )…probably wearing a black jacket with Canadian lapel pin…(gotta pick up something at the airport in the morning in case Mike notices me)…I will be looking like I am looking for people I am trying to meet…I will be the one who looks like the Canadian winter had me inside eating too many cookies and am not wonderfully petite like SF darn it…I may even look like I am wondering how I got to be there but I am sure I will know when the house lights go down…and then I will be the one with the permanent smile and the “don’t talk to me, don’t look at me, don’t wonder about me attitude because I am very busy and don’t want to be disturbed” because those moments are going to be treasured for a very long time…
Almost forgot…I can easily be recognized because I will have dark circles under my eyes because I am always on the pc late at night when everyone else in their right mind has been in bed hours ago…
…everyone else in my time zone…of course you are all in your right mind!! Geez…back to work…
Awww SB ~ So glad you are going this time. Enjoy yourself, you and your dark hair!
By the way, this morning I told my husband that i have an obsession. Before I could voice it, he said “I know honey, everyone knows. It’s David Archuleta”. Then he confessed to me. “You know that I’m obsessed with Allison Krauss, right?”!!
night shift.
Nice reading about Post idol success/ marketability after Idol tour
Analysis of the top 10 AI8 contestants
http://www.zimbio.com/American+Idol/articles/1441/American+Idol+Season+8+Commercially+Marketable
Mentioned DA ( as well as Cook)
“If you are record producer or record executive I bet you already know this. Not every American Idol singer or even winner has been successful or will be in future. There are only a few who will pass the test and even then it is not a guarantee. American Idol season 8 2009 could possibility turn out the same after the final confetti drop and the winner sings the cheesy final song.
Many times the general public will get behind a contestant who has been featured before the true competition starts off. They are shown in Hollywood week or during the auditions. Some contestants were fantastic like Clay Aiken, Daugherty, Carrie Underwood, and David Archuleta. Some proved themselves when the show started like David Cook. But these contestants seldom had a bad week or a really bad performance. Sure once or twice they forgot the words but they were also very consistent.”
http://www.zimbio.com/American+Idol/articles/1442/American+Idol+Season+8+Commercially+UnMarketable
Mentioned DA again ( also Cook)
“Gokey is also not youthful and is too plain looking for teens and pre-teens to get really into. The youth market is very important part of the equation. Younger music buyers look for the total package and Gokey just does not fit that. A successful singer contestant after Idol has to be able to span the different age groups. That is why David Cook and David Archuleta were extremely popular after the American Idol Tour. Posters of David Cook and David Archuleta fill the rooms of Teens, pre-teens and even adults. I don’t think the same could be said of Danny Gokey. There will be no pre-teen, braces wearing, money spending teens buying Gokey posters and merchandise in the near future.”
betsy…that is so cool…you know I think that he has chosen an excellent one to be obsessed over…I have always liked Allison Krauss…
I was working away in the kitchen and said that I had to check something out on the computer…of course my 29 year old daughter was here and said…checking up on David…she torments me endlessly…Our kids do think that we have lost it…but really they just don’t know us as good as they thought…
Wow, just checking in on the videos after not really watching for a few days and the Idaho Falls page is FULL of wonderful vids. JR -- great job! The videographers were working overtime that night and had the best cameras! LOL!
Darn it marlie7…I can’t go to bed…have to check out Idaho Falls…
SB: See what happens? David makes us into insomniacs!
So now I will go to bed with his voice singing in my head and I will wake up to it as well…not bad eh?
Actually, I’m in California, so it’s early here. I get to stay up late and it’s not even really late. Tomorrow night back in NY I’ll be exhausted.
SB and SF and ronaldsf--check out knotliser’s comments @2:43 she’s trying to see if some of us can meet up at some point in SLC. We would love to try it. I’m here in Utah, so it’s just an hour’s drive time for me.

Jennifer Barry. I could only look at a couple of those pictures. It’s too much.
Must be my Catholic upbringing! Always deny thyself.
Remember the one picture from last summer, idol tour? Standing outside, next to the line of people. You guys must know which one I’m talking about.
That kind of beauty is rare. He is glowing, almost.

On another note, sorry if this has been posted earlier. I thought I did but I cannot see in the comments. So just reposting it again. Good articles on assessment of the marketability/unmarketability of the AI8 top 10 contestants
http://www.zimbio.com/American+Idol/articles/1442/American+Idol+Season+8+Commercially+UnMarketable
DA (also Cook) was mentioned in the section of Gokey with problem of marketability.

DA was given as a good example ( plus Cook too and other AI alumni)

oh, goodie. Liz, I hope you’re right that rascal’s whipping something up. I MISS RASCAL!
I am trying not to get all shaky about the end of the US Tour. And about how awesome and amazing the SLC show will be. Really trying. I’m a MESS.
I need to go watch some vids.
but wait… first, Angelica, again, I MUST say, positively brilliant post. {{hug}}
SB Safe travels! I wish you fun. I wish you love. I wish you an amazing time! I wish you could report back to us as soon as you deem fit!
betsy…I had to laugh because my husband now has an obsession too, for The Spice Girls. LOL They are so not “now” but that’s okay. Their music really isn’t bad. I think having the obsession is more important to him than whom it is for. And it’s nowhere near my ODD but shhh I won’t let him know. haha
My offline non-David friends think I’ve lost it. But I can’t blame them; I sneak David into every conversation I have and I sound a little over the top when I talk about him.
My 17 year old daughter isn’t a fan because in her opinion, it’s not cool to like your Mom’s music. Duh. I say she’s missing out big time. But isn’t it funny how she knows all the words to David’s songs? She claims that she can hear the songs right through my headphones!
To SB, SF, ronaldsf, knotliser and tawna21 and anyone else going to SLC:
Safe journey!
Represent us well!
Have a great time and come back to us soon!

beebee: Are you going to SLC?
No, bebe. No First US Tour concerts for me. I have one Jingle Thingy under my belt. (lol. so to speak)
On another note, I have posted twice two articles about the assessment on marketability/unmarketability of the Top 10 AI8 contestants but was not accepted.
Good reading because DA was mentioned ( including Cook) as good examples of Post AI tour success.

It’s me again.
Forgot to mention I went to FOD’s live chat with Eli tonight and found out all sorts of goodies.
A summer tour is in the works but that’s all the info he had.
Getting ZG released is in the works but it has to be done quickly or another artist can scoop it up. He suggested writing to JIVE records and expressing our feelings about getting ZG out there by David, only. It can be released by itself, without being on a CD for now. FOD tried to find a good email address for JIVE but came up with their myspace page for now.
http://www.myspace.com/jiverecords
I think you have to have a myspace account to post a message, but not sure.
He talked about the bus and how it had two lounges with leather counches, etc.
His favorite song to play is WFY.
He said Alex is the class clown.
He said the SLC show is going to be awesome!
beebee -- teehee
Better have that jingle thingy checked out!!
lol, betsy. {{hug}}

Angelica: I failed to mention what a beautiful piece of writing this is. It really expresses so much about David that we all feel but can’t put into words the way you did. Thank you!
I have to get to sleep. One more song and I’m hittin’ the hay.
I believe it will be Angels again. Like a fine wine it just keeps getting better.
:::raising glass::: *cheers!* betsy!
beebee: About that Jingle thingy….lol
Angelica -- what a truly amazing post. If you are not in a field that utiliizes your unbelievable ability to capture what you see & feel in words, then perhaps you should be. Like so many have said, it is difficult to pick out just one quote from your beautiful writing but one did arise and call out to me. “Aside from his unsurpassed vocal prowess, he has the power to transmit on a cellular level by his facial expressions….” When I saw the video of the VOICE singing Imagine (Holiday of Hope in Dec), I broke down & cried. Could not understand why (besides the beautiful & inspirational lyrics) it touched me so. Now after viewing it again (since Jan 20), I understand why. It’s at 2:53-2:60 with subtle expression on his face. It’s like he reached down deep inside & pulled out all this emotion & just let it go…….. He’s amazing! For some reason, these experiences feel so therapeutic.
I’ve also printed this out to save (& frame). Totally moving, like our David.
bebereader -- March 26, 2009 at 1:19 am -- if that’s the case, let’s get the letters in the mail! I have this address from the snarky girls from 10/21/08:
Azoff Music Mgmt
1100 Glendon Ave. Suite 2000
Los Angeles, CA 90024
I’m guessing management would be more than happy to pass our ZG letters on to the label, don’t you think? (Correct me if I’m wrong.)
Help, techies! I’m on Firefox now… how do I flush my old gravatar out of the browser cache? (I knew how to do it on IE.) I changed the pic yesterday, but it still shows up the same here, from what I can see.
After rereading, I realized I should have included the whole paragraph. So here goes….”He leaves us breathless and we do not know how he does what he does to us. We only know that he does it better than anyone else. Aside from his unsurpassed vocal prowess, he has the power to transmit on a cellular level by his facial expressions, indeed, with his whole body, raw, undiluted, take no prisoner emotions that are nothing short of physical in their intensity.”
highervibe -- Thanks for Azoff’s address. It’s sure worth a try. I’ve already sent something to Jive on myspace but I will use the address you listed, too. I think the more fans who send letters the better. Even though we know now that CB turned the song down, I still think it’s important to let Jive know how we feel about the song and that we only want David to record it. How crushed would be be if ZG was released to another singer?!
Good night everyone! Sorry I’ve been so busy to check in here earlier, but after a long work day, I’ve been revisiting my favorite “funny” David videos. Remember these?
David’s interview with Justin Guarini on TVGuide channel:

David’s “dry wit”:

The Davids’ piggyback ride (one of the precious times I really liked David and Cookie together):

I’m just in that kind of mood tonight, what can I say. Thought I would share before I finally go to bed.
G’nite all!

BBR -- I’d be crushed, I couldn’t stand to hear anyone else sing it. I will say though, in a very soft unobtrusive voice, that I wish they would rerecord it, now that we see what David does with it. The existing track doesn’t do it justice. But I’d rather they release it as-is, pronto, if that’s what it takes for him to OWN it. (Crazy, we have to worry about him owning his own song!)
marlie -- BINGO! Thanks a bunch!!
HG: Thanks. Those videos brought back memories. It’s been that kind of day. Here’s one for you, same day as the piggyback ride you sent, the day the Davids appeared on The Today Show. David is doing a soundcheck for “Think of Me”. I love the banter with the crowd before the show, and of course the song!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TifpFwfos60
Highervibe: Unbelievable right? But time is the issue here, according to Eli.
SB1217 -- “So now I will go to bed with his voice singing in my head and I will wake up to it as well…not bad eh?” Sounds about right to me. I fall asleep with my earphones connected to my ipod (hubby snores)playing David’s CD. My husband says I sing David’s songs when I’m sleeping. Besides, who needs sleeping aids when you have DA.
fandaforeverti48 -- I always play David’s music before going to sleep. The sound of his voice is so therapeudic that it doesn’t matter which song I play. Tonight it’s going to be “Save The Day” only because I haven’t heard it in a long time. Wish he’d sing it at SLC.
Nite all!
Interesting info about Azoff Music Management:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irving_Azoff
bebe306 I love “Save The Day”. Before my husband went in for his surgery I played it for him. It was my song to him. After surgery it was “Don’t Let Go”, which I’ve been stuck on since Sayerville YouTubes. Never REALLY listened to the words until on my way home one night from the hospital. The words were expressing what I was going through, all along. It so helped me get through the tough days. David’s voice & gift of song are so healing. Would love to tell him so…..
HG240 -- about the Davids, remember he was under the influence. The DA influence.
This video is going wild on the net!

Ha! That soundcheck… sweet! aww, but he was freeezing
Hey, I just noticed, David has more than 30K YT vids now, and he’s been a recording artist for barely a year!!! By comparison, John Mayer has 43K, and he’s got HOW many records out--and Grammies to boot!?! David the PHENOM!
Sweet dreams, all.

Archuleta returns home
‘American Idol’ finalist and Murray native performs first headlining Utah show Friday.
from The Salt Lake Tribune
Since he finished second on last year’s “American Idol,” David Archuleta has headlined shows in Virginia, Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada and Idaho.
But never in Utah, his home state. Until this week.
Archuleta performed Tuesday in St. George, and Friday he performs in West Valley City at the E Center, his last U.S. stop before heading to the United Kingdom in April.
The Murray native was resting his voice from the demands of his first headlining tour, so Archuleta recently answered Tribune interview questions via e-mail.
On his emotions as he approaches his biggest-ever Utah gig:
It’s my first headlining tour, and it’s been such a blast so far. There’s nothing that compares to that feeling of being home, and I’m really looking forward to it.
On memories of seeing artists at the E Center:
I got to see Carrie Underwood’s concert at the E Center not too long ago, and she put on a great show. I also saw New Kids on the Block there, who have the same manager as me. They had Lady Gaga and Natasha Bedingfield as supporting acts for their show, and Natasha’s one of my favorite musicians, so I was really excited. The last concert I saw in Utah was actually at the Murray Theater. Adele, another one of my favorites, performed there in January with James Morrison as a supporting act. I loved that show. Adele and James Morrison both have such great voices.
On his voice:
I’m surprised at how well it’s been holding up, because I’ve never had to perform this many songs before in a set; also considering that it’s almost every night. I actually lost my voice from oversinging during rehearsals and for the first couple of tour shows. That was really scary. I was thinking: “I haven’t even started yet and it’s already gone!” But
my voice was able to hold for all those shows, and it’s now feeling great. I’ve learned a lot about making sure I take care of my voice and how to do that.
On this season of “American Idol”:
I haven’t really gotten to watch a whole lot of this season, but I’ve been watching as much as I could. There isn’t really anyone that I think reminds me of me — ha, ha — at least not from the episodes that I’ve seen. But there are some really good singers that I like so far. I haven’t really based a strong impression on them yet, since I’ve only seen them perform once, but I am really excited to see them perform each week.
On watching Tamyra Gray perform “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” during the first season of “Idol”:
It probably was the most pivotal musical moment of my young life. That first season of “American Idol” had such a big impact on me, and getting to see people perform in ways I’ve never seen really changed my perspective on music and performing. It really inspired me to want to do what those singers were doing.
On his religious faith and temptations:
Faith has been a major part of all of this. I honestly wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for my faith and beliefs, and they have helped me get through a lot of the challenges I’ve had to face. As long as I keep that and my family close to me, I think it will help me continue to make the right decisions and resist those temptations that people think I may have to face. The way I see it is that God gave me a gift, and he expects me to use it the right way.
On what fans respond to:
They respond really well to “Touch My Hand,” since that’s the opener. Some other ones they respond well to are “Crush” and a song I haven’t released anywhere, called “Zero Gravity,” that I helped write.
On the tour’s evolution:
We actually had to shorten the length of the set because most of the venues we’ve been performing at are standing venues. We didn’t want people getting too tired from standing when doors opened an hour before the show, during Lesley Roy’s set, and then through mine.
On plans for the future:
After the tour, I am going to Asia to do some promotions there. And after Asia, I’ll be going on tour in the U.K. as an opening act for a popular group called McFly there. I am planning on doing some more writing and recording in the future soon, though.
On his favorite things to do when in Utah:
I usually just like to go out with my friends and visit people. It’s a really fun thing to just catch up with people I haven’t seen for a while, and then maybe we’ll go grab a bite to eat somewhere. I love going out to eat, so that’s what we do the most, I guess.

Good morning everyone! Beebee, thanks for sharing that “Think of Me” rehearsal performance from last year’s Today. David with messed up hair and his first time off Idol -- so cute and fresh and new to all this! Awwwwww.
I agree, Highervibe, he’s definitely freezing! And in May?! Or was it early June?
Fandaforever, thanks for the reminder that Cookie was a different kind of animal around the DA influence. Maybe he’ll get it back when they perform together in the Philippines. I definitely like Cook much more when he’s under the DA influence!
Vee, thanks for sharing that latest interview. This quote made me chuckle:
“On watching Tamyra Gray perform “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” during the first season of “Idol”:
It probably was the most pivotal musical moment of my young life.”
How cute is he? I know he really means it, but when young people talk about the “most pivotal” anything in their “young life,” I can’t help but respond: “Wait for it!” As in “wait for the real most pivotal musical moment you have yet to experience but definitely will!”
I do love his sincerity and his openness though.
Also, I especially love this particular quote on faith:
“The way I see it is that God gave me a gift, and he expects me to use it the right way.”
Now that is a David quote worth remembering. How does he do it? How does he go from being such an obviously young dorky innocent to being so profoundly wise?
Thy mystery that is David Archuleta continues.
*And the mystery that is his label having us wringing our hands over whether or not David gets to release his own song also continues, it seems.*
Glad to see the ZG viral campaign is taking off. Thanks for the link, Marlie!
Oops! That should be “The mystery that is David Archuleta…” not “Thy mystery..”
Although, hmmm, it does give my sentence a rather sacred tone, don’tcha think?
Angelica -- What a potent post! Every sentence could generate a post of its own. Powerful!
If you want to see a rocked out TMH go to this video (TMH with ZG energy--Wowza!) -- its not yet on our Performance page for Boise because it was just uploaded on youTube:

Did anyone else catch idol last night? I know I said I wasn’t watching it this year but…. Motown! My hometown!
Matt Giraud did a pretty fine version of Let’s Get It On. And Happy, I have to say that Adam Lambert was really good last night.
I wish they had done this last year. David would’ve been amazing with that material.
Ooooh, baby, baby!

Conquering pop hero David Archuleta returns home for concert
Matt Reichman -- Daily Herald
Rumor has it there’s a fellow out of Murray by the name of David Archuleta performing in Salt Lake City this weekend. Apparently, he’s gained quite a following.
Oh, so you’ve heard of him?
The 18-year-old “American Idol” alumnus with the Mouseketeer charm and the set of crooner pipes that can have teen girls fainting in five notes or less will be singing for the home crowd at the E Center in West Valley City on Friday, with Amie Miriello and Benton Paul as openers. The show will be his final appearance on his first solo tour, which began late February in Virginia Beach, Va.
“There’s nothing like singing to a home crowd!” Archuleta wrote in an e-mail interview. “The energy is so different, and the feeling is so welcoming from them. The only thing is that I feel like the expectations are set a little higher at home for me, but I still can’t wait to perform for my friends, family and neighbors.”
Unless you’ve been hibernating in a cave for the last two years, you have no doubt heard about Archuleta’s run on the past season of “American Idol.”
After auditioning for the show at the age of 16 in the summer of 2007, singing John Mayer’s “Waiting on the World to Change,” Archuleta marched straight to the top, where Season 7 winner David Cook narrowly bested him in the season finale.
Despite the disappointment from the much-anticipated battle of the Davids, the popster is still chugging along full bore. He hopped aboard Jive Records in summer 2008, and in November of the same year released his first album, called “David Archuleta,” which featured three songs that debuted on the Billboard Hot 100, including his hit single, “Crush.” Archuleta will be drawing from the breakout CD at the E Center show.
“I hope the crowd will just be able to tell that I’m having such a great time, and how grateful I am for the support Utah has been giving,” Archuleta said.
One of the challenges of late has been identifying exactly who he is as an artist, said Archuleta, who still doesn’t feel “settled” as a musician. Presenting himself on stage while still experimenting with his music and persona can be difficult.
“I don’t know if I’ve really settled into the publicity of it all,” he said. “I’m getting more used to it, though. The music business can be pretty interesting, but you learn a lot from all the people you’re around.”
If the jovial “haha’s” speckled throughout his e-interview are any sort of measure, it would appear that Archuleta isn’t taking himself too seriously in the limelight, maintaining instead the youthful humility that endeared him to Simon, Randy, Paula and 30 million “Idol” viewers in the first place.
“I didn’t think it would ever head in the direction it has so quickly,” he said. “But I’m really happy with how things have worked out.”
“I didn’t think it would ever head in the direction it has so quickly,” he said.
Awww, David. We did. We most certainly did.
One of the many things that I love about David is that he is a throwback to a time when pop music ruled the airways and current songs were part of the public consciousness. I can vividly remember getting calls from my friends alerting me to some great song they just heard on the radio. I would then turn on my radio, and scan the dials in anticipation of hearing that song on one of the many AM station in NYC. After hearing it, I would immediately call my friend back, and we would have a long, “serious” conversation about the quality and potential of that song. Music mattered back then, and the artists were household names.
Well, it took forever, but I’m getting that vibe again with David and “Zero Gravity.” The internet has replaced the phone, school cafeteria and street corner, but the feeling is the same. Everyone is talking about “ZG”. It’s all the buzz. People who have heard it are telling people who haven’t. When will it be released? Will David be the artist? If not David, then who? How could it not be David? Will he sing it on AI?
David has brought anticipation and fun back to the music scene. Once the word gets out that he is no longer the “kid” from AI, and that his live shows are “smoking “, it’ll be time to line up at 4:00 A.M. at Madison Square Garden in the hopes of getting to see him.
David is both phenomenal and a phenomenon. His voice is both powerful and soothing. Watching him perform is like watching a movie in 3-D and Surround Sound at the same time. As for “Zero Gravity”, the #1 spot on the charts awaits its release. It’s the surest thing since “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” was the “pick hit of the week”.

Try watching with no sound. MAJOR smexy flirt action.
haha I have a habit of watching in silence(after I watch with sound). You see some amazing things.

Did you happen to catch the 2:03-2:05 mark in that vid?
Where did those arms come from?
I’m not imagining it, am I?
Hi everyone! I just came back from my daughter’s graduation and its celebration with the clan — she is the 1st grandchild to finish college with me being the eldest child. It was a simple & lovely celebration.
So — what did I miss? Has it started? finish already? Anyone survive that “wicked charisma” as Angelica so aptly put it?
Meanwhile, am back updating the Tour Pages. BOISE & Pocatello, finally complete!
haha! HG, that was bebe, not beebee who gave that Think of Me link… and I ADORE THAT VIDDDDD! Yay! Bebe, thanks for reminding me of it!
Congratulations jackryan4da for your daughter’s graduation,..
By the way, I send a message for you, I will repost it here, hope you can help me.
GODBLESS
Help please. I’ve lost the time and place of the Official After Party in Salt Lake. FOD says it posted the info earlier, but I’ve looked and looked and don’t see it. Anyone?
betsy -- I was thinking the same thing, OMG if David could have worked with Smokey and Berry, he would have been over the moon!!! Perhaps they were watching when he did “Shop Around”--that’s Motown isn’t it?
Liz, I just emailed the after party info to you.
I’m a little concerned about how the hundreds, even thousands of fans are going to get into the Comedy Club for the after party? It’s going to jam-packed and I want to be one of the sardines in that club!!
oh lordy, would ya get a load of that full-on Archuleta Hunkerdown in that smokin’ Boise TMH vid. (3:51-3:54) Phew! (I miss me my hunkerdowns)
highervibe and betsy… talkin’ about David and Motown makes me shaky! lol (in a GOOD way.)
Sf -- thanks for the email, but Richard doesn’t mention where or when. I remember something from FOD a while back -- is it at the Murray Theater where the band practiced? Why is this so hard to find??
Comedy Club?
Highervibe, check out this cool youtube link about Shop Around. (Yes, it’s Motown, and originally the “Tamara” label for the original regional Deee-troit version.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLY74jXJ_b0&NR=1
(I am DIGGIN’ the Detroit Version!)
SF! Archu_sardines ftw!
Liz, there actually is NO OFFICIAL after party location. The Murray Theater is where the Luncheon from 11 to 1 is being held. It’s being catered and you had to place your fod order by midnight Tuesday.
The Comedy Club is where Daniel & David Osborne are appearing after the concert, with NO guarantee David will be there.
Sorry..place your FOOD order…
SF -- thanks!!!!
I wish I was going to Utah. (insert sad face here)
….teardrops on my pillow….
the glass is half full…the glass is half full…..(just seeing if this positive thinking stuff really works….)
If any of you totally lucky people who are going to SLC get to speak to Alex, PLEASE give him a big enthusiastic hug from his Corgi friend in CT. He’ll know who you’re talking about. Dang it.. I wish I were going.
Angelica, I know I am really late to the party, but thank you for your beautiful blog. I have had to read it several times to absorb it all. If I were to try to post my favorite part I’m afraid I would have to copy the whole thing. Beautiful. I’ve not had a chance to see David live but the vids and recaps almost make me feel as though I have. For those of you going to SLC tomorrow, travel safely and have a great time. Just hurry back to post your musings for those of us not so lucky.
To those going to SLC, please JUMP heartily for me during ZG! And sing your lungs out!!!
Re: Tour Reflection section: you’ll be glad to know that I have updated BOISE, POCATELLO & even ST. GEORGE pages
He sounds soooooooooooo good in St. George GAH!
We who are Salt Lake bound will jump and squee and laugh and cry on behalf of all of you lovely jDers here. We’ll return with stories to tell. Look for a review from ronaldsf.
And keep a lookout for some cool new changes coming your way.
The Wiseguys Comedy Cafe is at the Northeast corner of the intersection of 3500 South and Decker. It’s approx. 3 blocks’ distance south of the parking lot of the E Center. The hotels are closeby. Too bad it’s not a larger venue!

My heart was somehow pinched when he talked about “meeting expectations” and how that is different, when all we wish is for him to be happy. Sigh….
That ZHT interview is the BEST interview David has EVER done. I just love it.
It’s the best 20 minutes I’ve ever seen him do. How comfortable.. how confident.
What I found funny was he can understand how he was totally speechless when he met Jason Mraz…but doesn’t understand how WE feel about him.
Oh David David David.. what am I gonna do with you.
OH and… the Shawn Johnson kidnapping story.. FREAKED him out.. and I has having a heart attack..because of SB’s post last night.
Dear David.. I do not want to kidnap you.
Dear Jeff… please don’t send the FBI to my house.
SB and her kidnapping line.. it scares me now.. makes me paranoid.
Someone take it down.. I don’t want to kidnap David..
jackryan.. how can I download the ZHT interview ?????
I loved these interviews.. he’s still that same dear, adorkable, totally way smarter than he lets on, consummate performer, Utah homeboy, completely genuine and truthful David that we all adore. He deflects what he needs to, lights up when he finally hears something of interest and generally makes everyone in the room feel good. what a gift he is.
fandaforeverti48 I understand what you mean about “Don’t Leg Go” and how so many of David’s songs are healing. I read somewhere that he will only sing songs that send positive messages which is one of the reasons that his songs are so therapeutic. How is your husband doing?
Abba 12:16 pm I took your advice and started watching David’s videos without audio. Boy am I in big trouble now! You’re right, you can see things you don’t notice with the audio. Now I have about 30.000 more to go through! Yikes, it’s gonna be a long night! LOL
jackryan: Congratulations on your daughter graduating from college!!! That’s quite an accomplishment!
river 822 ITA with you! That’s the same feeling I had after watching both interviews. This is David Archuleta with some solo tour experience behind him and I can barely notice any changes. If I had to come up with something, it’s more confidence when he speaks. People are now stopping to let him speak or to finish a sentence instead of talking over his voice like they used to. He’s way smarter than he lets on. I happen to love radio interviews and have noticed that if it’s the first time the DJs meet David, they are in awe by the end of the interview. And that’s without singing!
Thanks LIZ. You guys will have the grrrrrrrrrraaaaaandest time! We all know that David pours his all for the last blow and for the hometown.
Thrilled for you. PIX pls of jDer’s jumping & bomping
That will be a collector’s item someday!
You notice that when the question came up about who was selling more records, Cook or David, he knew the exact particulars of who’s doing what. When it comes to business, David’s on top of it… always has been.
river:
Yes, I noticed. He’s as smart as they come.
{{{{{{{LIZZZZZZZZZZZ}}}}}}} Oh have a BALL! Remember, you’re doing it for ALL of us, so HAVE A BLAST!
bebe…lmao. Oh, that’s a big job watching fifty bazillion vids of David with no sound. (…but SOMEBODY’s gotta do it.)
river, I just LOVED this, “He deflects what he needs to, lights up when he finally hears something of interest and generally makes everyone in the room feel good. what a gift he is.”
Ain’t it the cha-RUTH!
For all those naive folks who think the ha ha’s, chortles, no’s and giggles are accidental they don’t realize it’s David’s way of diffusing silly dj questions. And as they are radio folk who can’t stand silence or non answers, they just keep talking and move on. Mission accomplished.
I just love that interview. He was so comfortable.. and not rattled. Stayed with it.. was just himself.
So positive about everything..life on a bus…not a bad word about his fans… loves being on stage.. and he’s still justDavid.
I know it will happen, it’s clearly going to happen…but I just can’t imagine him getting better than he is now.
He just has NO clue how amazing he really is.
I have SO much work to do with downloading and organizing.
What programs are you all using to download from youtube ?
So much to do.. so little time
Dawn, are you using Firefox for browsing? (I do recommend it). If so I use the Firefox add-on “Download Helper”. Easy peasy.
Both Firefox and the add-on are free at mozilla.org (for both mac and pc)
(I’m pretty sure Download Helper is also avail. for pc. I know is its for mac.)
sloppy typos. oopsie. scuse me.
yes beebee…firefox
You know, Dawn, that’s exactly what I was thinking. I know David will only get better, but it’s almost too difficult to believe. I’m a little melancholy tonight and I’m sure it’s because a. I’m not on a plane and b. it’s the end of the first tour. I felt just like this after the Idol tour. I have GOT to get a grip.. maybe later.
We all can learn a lot about being grounded in who you are by watching David during these radio interviews. First of all, are all these jocks and jockettes the same person? It’s always one or 2 guys with a loudmouth gal who sound like they are competing in the “wiseguy” Olympics. The head guy always seems like the sleeziest person in the room, and the gal always sounds like she is trying to be “one of the guys.” They are always trying to get David to be like them, meaning classless and pseudo-hip.
David would appear classy and appealing in anyone’s company, but when he’s with these sleezebags, he makes Cary Grant seem like Sam Kinnison. Their pathetic attempt to get David to want to “get some” before he’s in a relationship was about the umpteenth time I’ve had to endure that. Don’t they get it? David is not like them or their moronic listeners. David sees no value in exploiting women. He has better things to do, like being the best singer on earth.
One day, hopefully very soon, David will have achieved a level of success that allows him to pass on appearing on these “morning shows” in Anywhere, USA. I love seeing and hearing David being interviewed. Where is David Frost when you need him?
(((beebee)))
oh river.. you must be on the same page as I am .. 8(
I was just watching this..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVW5gU1ZH1A
Our beautiful boy has come so far.. so fast.
Melancholy.. yes
tomorrow is going to be interesting.
the end of that concert.. is going to be the most emotional we’ve been yet.
and we’ve been pretty darn emotional.
{{{River}}} I was feeling that way yesterday, knowing the end of the tour was approaching and that we hit a milestone. I thought I was sad but I was actually crying tears of joy at all that David has accomplished right before our eyes. It’s startling to see how much growth has occurred in only two months on tour. I picked myself up (brushed myself off) and am now filled with so much pride in David, who is so humble, yet deserves our appreciation for all the joy he brings us each day, our faith in his future and our deepest congratulations on this milestone in his career.
“..We’re finally breaking
Into the daylight
Feel the warmth of the sun
I will stand by your side
Till your fear passes on
So just look in my eyes
Baby, try to hold on
And you’ll find
It won’t be long
So keep breathing
I said that I’ll always be there
Now I mean it more than ever before
there’s a future worth fighting for
So don’t be scared
I know how you must be feeling
No one to help you carry the pain
I’m coming to save the day, yeah”
--David Archuleta singing “Save The Day”

Bliss: That’s another press release for David! You’re so right about those radio stations. Why are most of them so sleazy and have they always been that way?
Before David starts his overseas tour I hope he’ll have time to appear on a few TV interview shows based in L.A? Enough with these radio stations; he needs to be interviewed by people who get him and appreciate his talents.

Related: News, WW Features, Chris Brown, Paris Hilton, Taylor Swift, David Archuleta
Archuleta is back on top! The teen idol has young fans flocking to sold-out shows across the country. “I just broke my arm and I wouldn’t let anyone sign my cast. I was saving it for David,” says a fan. Who else are we madly searching for this week?
Hey everyone! I’ve been a bit buried lately with tax returns and school stuff -- barely even time to “hover”!
I allowed myself a short break just to peek into “David-world” and look what I found at Snarky’s:

Archuleta brings out fans’ youthful side
From the Deseret News:
Archuleta brings out fans’ youthful side
By Amanda Pierce
“And people traveled from all over to see Archuleta perform — including a contingent that travels from city to city so they can attend multiple concerts. Last weekend, some drove from Seattle. Many came from Utah. One group of fans flew to Boise from New York City for the show.
When Archuleta noticed their sign displaying how far they had traveled, he was stunned and became flustered while introducing the next song.”

THAT WAS ME! (Guess they thought the girls with me were WITH ME -- Who travels from NY to Boise alone?!) Anyway, I don’t know if I would describe David as “flustered”, but he definitely noticed my sign. I was hoping there was some filming of the banter between Barriers and ALTNOY so I could see it on film. I’ll be on the look out for that. Please let me know if you see it!
Testing…
I don’t know what happened to my last post but here it is again:
I’ve barely had time to hover here lately since I’m buried in tax returns and school stuff. I took a break to come to “David-World” and look what I found at Snarky’s!

I don’t know if I’d describe David as “flustered” but he definitely noticed my sign! I was actually hoping to see some footage of the banter between Barriers and ALTNOY just so I could see it on film!
But the mention in the Deseret News is very cool and “makes it as real” -- as real as the Skin Horse in the Velveteen Rabbit!
If anyone has seen video of that segment of the Boise show, could you let me know?

THE ‘AMERICAN IDOL’ SUCCESS SPECTRUM
“American Idol” has a knack for cranking out pop sensations, but whether they have the talent to stand the test of time is another question. So here’s a look, from least to most successful, at the celebrity success spectrum of past “Idol” finalists.
16 contestants , from least to successful (Justin Guarini to Kelly Clarkson)
Photo 2 After Season 1, Justin Guarini was THE guy to watch. Oprah declared “Justin, you have IT.” A year later, RCA dropped him and his movie “From Justin to Kelly” tanked (though the title somewhat eerily foreshadowed our “Idol” success spectrum).
Photo 9
Clay Aiken became a tween sensation and surprising sex icon, though lately his record sales have been dwindling and he came out of the closet (much to the chagrin of his many young female fans). Next stop: Tyra.
Photo 10
Season 7 winner David Cook went on to break a number of Billboard chart records, even taking out one of Miley Cyrus’ albums (watch it, Cook). He’s still on the rise, but at only a year out, it’s tough to tell whether he’ll end up a Kelly or a Ruben.
Photo 11
Jordin Sparks has a platinum record under her belt. No Grammys, but she got a ‘Worst Slipup’ MTV VMA when she made a remark about the Jonas Brothers and “sl*ts.” Now she’s going on tour with the Jonas boys. Nicely played, Jordin.
Photo 14
Last year’s runner-up, David Archuleta, has caused a tween-girl hysteria that even Zac Efron couldn’t handle. Since last season, the unexpected heartthrob has become the kind of pop sensation Clay Aiken was circa 2004. David, you’ve been warned.

THAT WAS ME!!!! (guess they thought the girls with me were WITH ME – Who would fly from NY to Boise alone?) I don’t know if I would say that David was “flustered” but he definitely noticed my sign! Now I’m wondering…Where was Amanda Pierce (writer of the Deseret News article) standing at that Boise show? I was in the very front (center) leaning on the rail. The only way she could have read my sign when David did (and notice his reaction) would be if she was “right there” by the stage. How do I become a journalist??
Anyway, to be clear, I did technically fly from NY to Boise by myself, but I was never really alone. I would never have considered making that trip if I didn’t know I would hook up with some beautiful people from here at justDavid.
And for that, I am very grateful.

LOL! Love how he subtly chastises the reporter for not doing his homework before interviewing him. haha!
DN: Can you tell me five things about yourself that we may not know: i.e. favorite artist, musician, TV show, movie and vacation spot?
DA: Hmm — I’ve said pretty much everything when I’ve been asked these questions.
I love Thai food. Some of my favorite artists are Jason Mraz, Sara Bareilles, Adele, Natasha Bedingfield, Eva Cassidy and John Mayer.
My favorite movie is ‘Finding Nemo,’ and I love cartoons.
I have fallen in love with Hawaii! I was there to sing the national anthem at the Pro Bowl this year, and it was awesome!
He’ll also be on Good Morning Utah tomorrow…

Wow! I didn’t have to look to far for the footage! It’s this one:
“ALTNOY -- incl the Leslie hug & pix taking (thanks to VWilliams1231)”
right here on our own Boise page in the Performance Reviews tab! It wasn’t there last time -- it HAS been a while!
I’m so thrilled to see it on film! At 1:39, David sees my sign that says “NY SENDS ♥” and says “Oh, Thanks, thanks NY” Then I flipped my sign around and it said “FLEW IN FROM NY” and that’s when David said, “….oh wow!” It happens pretty fast, but it’s so cool for me to see so I thought I’d share.
bebereader – thank for your kind words about my concert experience. But these last couple of days I’ve been feeling melancholy…reading all the posts…Utah….I wish I were going! Save The Day is my daily fix…I love this song!!!
Dawn65 -- Perhaps we’ll all have to have a phone a jder support line that night.
Sounds like a good idea.
Abrra and dawn65 – I don’t fly either!!!! Wonder what other things we might have in common.
dawn -- She reached into our souls.. plopped our disorientation down on paper.. and now.. it makes sense to all of us
Well said!
Vee60 – thank you for all the MP3’s
hellOgOrgeOus – Thanks for the links…I guess it’s reminiscing time.
Betsy -- Did anyone else catch idol last night? I know I said I wasn’t watching it this year but…. Motown! My hometown!
I’ve tried to watch but I just can’t….but I will when David is there.
Bebereader -- I just had repost… I love these lyrics!
“..We’re finally breaking
Into the daylight
Feel the warmth of the sun
I will stand by your side
Till your fear passes on
So just look in my eyes
Baby, try to hold on
And you’ll find
It won’t be long
So keep breathing
I said that I’ll always be there
Now I mean it more than ever before
there’s a future worth fighting for
So don’t be scared
I know how you must be feeling
No one to help you carry the pain
I’m coming to save the day, yeah”
–David Archuleta singing “Save The Day”
Trying to catch up here….very busy these days…but tomorrow is the “day” and it’s my birthday too! My kids asked me what did I want … I yelled “I want to go to Utah!”, they rolled their eyes… they asked what kind of cake…any flavor as long as it has David’s picture, come to think of it, I want a David Archuleta party!…lol! If you guys don’t hear from for a while….they might have had me commited.
I convinced them to celebrate on Saturday because I’ll be too tired Friday…. I need to be home for the cellcast and my fellow jdr’s… our support group…didn’t tell them that.
Going to check out some more videos.
beebee -- 2:45 pm -- Interesting! (sorry for delayed response) Whoa--original Detroit version is waaaaay slowed down! Cool groove. Did AI ever release the video of David’s “Shop Around”? I bought a bunch of his performance vids from iTunes, but I only have audio on that one. OK dangit--had to watch it on YT, now--see what you made me do?! ***GAH*** all over again!!!!
I’m hopin’ that everyone who has come into Utah is here safe and sound. It’s COLD here!! I was really hoping we could offer some warmer weather, but since I’m not the one in charge of that, SORRY about the temps. I’d like to meet up with some of you tomorrow, but don’t know how to go about it. If you’re on here tonight, e-mail me at tjwitney21@yahoo.com.
Where is a link for Save The Day? I’d like to download it, but need to find it. Anyone--help.
This is crackin’ me up!

Glad to hear you get my point about “silent” movies. I watched that 18 min radio interview the same way. It free me to study that face
Btw. it’s tough finding tour songs that are not too filled with chatter and screams. I have been listening to you tubes and not watching the picture. Sometimes you have to separate your senses to get the desired effect. Not sure my plan to make a Tour Cd is going to be very successful. Way too much sound issues in the venues.
blisskasden March 26, 2009 at 10:09 pm
David never acknowledges the crude questions. He does have class. Those radio DJ’s realized by the end that they had insulted David and embarrassed themselves. Now go back and watch with no sound. David’s face is amazingly animated and smiley. I would never guess by his face that he was being asked such silly things. He is all class
Abrra
JR4DA, Congratulations on your daughter graduating cum laude! And thanks for updating the Tour Reflections page. Going to check out St. George in a minute.
Have to do it before the power goes out again. We lost power last night and also tonight with the storms passing through the Southern states this weekend. Tomorrow is supposed to be the worst of it. I agree with a lot of you that the 907.1 ZHT interview was his best ever. I noticed he used much fewer hand gestures and wore his serious face more than I’ve ever seen it. Nothing wrong with that, he still smiled and laughed plenty but, he is getting more mature and and thoughtful in his demeanor. He seemed so calm and the word that kept coming to my mind was__contained. Like all the energy that used to get thrown out randomly is being drawn in and controlled, in a good way. He is becoming more and more articulate and better able to give us a glimpse of his incredible intelligence. Dang, they grow up so fast!
Everyone going to the SLC concert, be joyful, joyful for all of us armchair concert goers. We will be with you in spirit on what will be, I predict, a very awesome, emotional night for David and his wonderful, adoring fans.
jackryan: Even more congratulations are in order for your daughter for graduating cum laude! That is quite an honor!!! I can only imagine how proud you are! My daughter will be starting college in September.
vee60 Great finds! Thank you!
juliebug So it’s GMA Utah tomorrow! I don’t live in Utah so won’t see it but will be waiting patiently at Youtube, USA for the clip. Thank you for the alert.
rapture: I saw your ‘moment’! I saw it!!! WTG!
djafan So many of us have been melancholy this week, myself included . My mood swings from happy to sad very quickly, and then jumps back to happy again. Phone a jder sounds like a good idea, for support. dja, those particular lyrics from Save The Day seem to give me strength when I read them. Hearing David sing them is, well, all the strength I need. That’s why I posted the lyrics earlier here for river.
Happy Birthday!!!
HIGHERVIBE, You MARCH YOURSELF to X-FACTOR’s secret stash of HI-DEF DEEEELUXE HDTV videos, right this red hot minute! lol ::::pointing sternly::::
(I need to keep this copy handy to copy/paste whenever needed.)
You need to download the free (and GREAT) “VLC Media Player” (google it, download it, it’s FREE.) It will play the amazing X-Factor vids… (it’s amazing and pretty much plays most anything I’ve ever thrown at it.)
among the x-factor files, a deee-LUXE HDTV SHOP AROUND
An incredible collection of goodies.
You want to go to this link: (and you want to bookmark this page, believe me!)
http://idolforums.com/index.php?showtopic=549397
To get to the HDTV ones scroll down til you see the red header that says DAVID ARCHULETA HDTV VIDEOS.
They are LARGE FILES, but worth every MINUTE it takes to download them. An amazing treasure trove.
(am I being pushy? naw.)
Shop Around video was available on iTunes, but not any more, I don’t believe.

Abrra, you’re right. David has more class in his big toe than these noodnicks will show in a lifetime. I guess it just pains me that he has to endure this stuff, although I’m sure he brushes it off and goes about his business seamlessly. David has his “eyes on the prize.” Nothing is more important to him than the opportunity to sing and perform. If he has to put up with a few jackasses along the way, so be it. I can be a little overprotective of David when he doesn’t really need it.
betsy… lol when he said “Sometimes it’s just the mom’s with no kids coming to see me” I just laughed (no CACKLED!) OUT LOUD it was just too adorable! I’m cackling again just thinking about it.
Abrra 1:12 am
Watching that video without sound is like studying a beautiful painting. David’s facial expressions are easier to focus on without being distracted by the dialogue. I wouldn’t be surprised if he became an actor one day, in addition to a recording artist. His face is very expressive and he knows how to convey every emotion as evidenced by the way he serenades us.

I’ve been on Jive’s myspace page and saw that fans have left comments about ZG, etc. You have to be a member of myspace to leave a comment on their page but you don’t have to be a member of myspace to send a private message. I think it’s important for us to let Jive know how we feel about Zero Gravity and that we only want David to record the song. So here’s Jive’s myspace page again:

Bebereader -- those particular lyrics from Save The Day seem to give me strength when I read them. Hearing David sing them is, well, all the strength I need.
The first time I heard it I sobbed uncontrollably, didn’t know why, but once I got a grip I realized how much I needed that, the lyrics are full of hope. I wish someone would ask him to sing it, imagine a live version of that with the visuals.
And Thank you!
thanks djafan
Gotta get to bed now--it’s 11:40 here and I’ve got a big day tomorrow in SLC! g’nite all.
bebe, speaking of vids I ADORE watching without sound, this one is puh-RICE-LESS sans sound! (Cookie drones on…lol)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvkQjdaaOZE
just one more thing--bebereader, I can’t make any sense of that my space page. How do I send Jive a message?
Sleep well all you Utah Luckies! Have a ball and tell us all about it. I know it will be beyond amazing.
I confess I’m fighting back the melancholy, too. It’s not like me, but… we stay-at-homers have got to shake the blues and CELEBRATE! OK? OK!
I have had the pleasure of speaking to many fellow jDers on the phone. Without exception, they have all been super nice and hopelessly afflicted with ODD. It’s great to hear others talk about David as if he were a close relative.
Thank you my friends who share here each day.
beebee March 27, 2009 at 1:20 am
The 2 links in my post above are from X-factor. I installed the VLC player. I kinda freaked out as it “took over” my video files by changing all the icons to a “traffic cone” looking thing. I like my files to read mp4 or mp3 or whatever in the icon. So, no more VLC for moi. I am happy with ITunes and Zune for viewing.
X-factor has mad skills in making the combo videos.
Abrra who needs to get to bed

“I wish someone would ask him to sing it, imagine a live version of that with the visuals.”
I don’t know why “Save The Day” isn’t getting the attention it deserves. I’ll be patient until everyone discovers it. After all, it’s on the Japanese version of the CD so it’s still relatively new. I’m a huge fan of the song. I think I’d be a mess if I ever heard him sing it, even on youtube. You’re absolutely right; it’s so full of hope. If I had to pick specific phrases they would have to be: “there’s a future worth fighting for” and “It won’t be long; I’m coming to save the day.”<<<<< yeah, that one.
beebee I’m about to watch the video you sent….
beebee -- yes M’AM, I am marching over there right NOW!! (right after I quit bustin’ up! lol)
beebee -- I had never seen that video… priceless it is…
(Cookie drones on…lol) -- at the end he falls under the Archuspell.
I confess I’m fighting back the melancholy, too. It’s not like me, but… we stay-at-homers have got to shake the blues and CELEBRATE! OK? OK!
Yes, All concert goers enjoy! We’ll be waiting here patiently for any news.
Will any stay-at-homers be listening to the cellcast?…I think the snarky’s are cellcasting.
tawna 21 When you’re on Jive’s myspace page, click ‘send message’ It’s on the left of the page towards the top. Please let me know if you need more help. I’d be very happy to help you.
Enjoy the show tomorrow!!!!!
xoxo
wow, abbra, didn’t know vlc does that. It does not do that to my files. (Maybe it’s a mac vs pc thing) … anyhoo, just GET those x-factors and watch them any which way you can! Yes, x-factor KNOWS what he/she’s DOINIG!
(Hihervibe, RUN, do not WALK…lol :::pointing:::fiercely:::)
lol… that was a funny typo. “DOINIG” <-- wha?
beebee, thanks for that link. Watching David with the sound muted was mesmerizing. His face is so expressive! Just got through watching the ZHT interview without sound. He does still smile and use hand gestures a lot, I don’t think he will ever lose that big part of his charm. The increased seriousness or thoughtfulness in between is subtle but definitely there. There is no subtlety he can display that is not noticed by us ODDers. lol. You know, this watching vids without sound could get to be habit forming. He expresses so much without sound and then you add the Voice and whooosh! you can not see the ca-louds.
bebereader-

I agree, when Fod interviewed Alex he hadn’t heard of it. He needs to hear it. I’ve sent it to everyone I know. I’m hoping for a reworked CD to include this song, ZG, Fighting For You and all of the bonus songs.
And I will be crying the day he performs it.
beebee That video was adorable! David would have had a lot more to say if “Cookies” had let him get a word in. Sheesh! I enjoyed it better without the sound, you’re right!
I’ll be at the cellcast tomorrow. Where else would I be? See you all there, for those who are going.
lol Angelica.
It’s a whole new world… the sans sound archu_vortex. (seems so WRONG, given the VOICE… but dangit… there’s just so much THERE.)
Ok that vid just clobbers me with adorableness overload. (every time.)
It’s sort of like an oxymoron to watch videos of David w/o sound. There’s probably a better word for it than oxymoron but hey, it’s almost by bedtime and I refuse to ask Cook, who claims to be a wordsmith.
I love Save The Day too. My favorite line is,
“And you think
that you know
how the end of the story goes.
That’s a page
I rewrote,
and I’m taking away the ropes.”
That just hits me where I live.
djafan1253 -- happy birthday & do treat yourself to something special. I like the DA cake idea. Sounds yummy! Funny thing is, this is a support group here and you are not alone. Looks like there are alot of us (bebe, river, dawn, HG….??) sharing this melancholy -- “a pensive (dreamingly thoughtful) mood.” And why not. Look what we have witnessed so far. A truly amazing metamorphosis in his performance skills. His concerts feel like one big party. So much joy and enthusiasm seems to flow from him, as well as love & caring for others. Love the SF hand holding moment. One can only dream…….
bebe -- thanks for asking, my husband’s surgery for colon cancer went as good as could be expected. His prognosis for full recovery is positive though he will have to endure chemo in a few weeks. I am grateful for all jdr’s who sent their prayers & thoughts. Thank you.
{{{{fandaforever}}}} Ya’ll hang in there.
djafan and bebe, I love Save The Day, too (and ZG!!) but if it lends any perspective at all, even David himself has referred to the “slow and steady” approach to singles releases.
Now, there’s been nothing slow (but he is steady!) about David’s progression, but I actually believe both Crush and ALTNOY (and even Angels) all have more wing-flappin’ to do in the singles/airplay/chart game, so I can see some sense to giving those all the room they need before crowding the singles stage with two more releases. And it already looks like ZG may be just around the bend. (yay!). Just sayin’ don’t be discouraged or too terribly impatient. Jive and Team David may actually know what they are doing.
(Watch, Save the Day will come out two weeks after ZG. lol) Anyhoo, I guess my point is I’m not too *fretty* about it.
fandaforeveri48 -- Please add me to the list of jDers who send thoughts and prayers to your husband.
Angelica -- Leave it to you to find that line and make me read it and think about it. Amazing lyrics! Thank you for adding more joy to that song for me.
AI8 top 10 marketability.
http://www.zimbio.com/American+Idol/articles/1442/American+Idol+Season+8+Commercially+UnMarketable
Anoop and Gokey noted as unmarketable.
Mentioned DA ( with Cook) Excerpt
Gokey is also not youthful and is too plain looking for teens and pre-teens to get really into. There will be no pre-teen, braces wearing, money spending teens buying Gokey posters and merchandise in the near future.
angelica220 -- love Save the Day. It has been so therapeutic for my husband & I. Do we know who wrote the lyrics, David or Mike? My husband wondered how he (an 18yo) could write such moving words without having experienced such emotions.
Whose marketable with AI8 top 10
http://www.zimbio.com/American+Idol/articles/1441/American+Idol+Season+8+Commercially+Marketable
Lambert and Kris
Once again DA and Cook mentioned
Excerpt
These are my favorite lines….
And you pray for relief
As you lie on the bathroom floor
So keep breathing
I said that I’ll always be there
Now I mean it more than ever before
there’s a future worth fighting for
So don’t be scared
I know how you must be feeling
No one to help you carry the pain
This just does me in.
beebee: Hope people didn’t get too confused tonight with both of us posting at the same time! Personally I think it’s a hoot to find someone with a similar s/n, finally! And for the record, I think you’re a hoot, too!
Thanks for your insight about “Save The Day” and other singles. It makes so much sense. I totally agree that Crush, ALTNOY and even Angels are not finished as singles yet. And I want to trust Jive. I want to!
By the way, I think it’s so funny that even camp David refers to “ALTNOY” as “ALTNOY”. When I was at Eli’s cell chat the other night over at FOD, he actually said the acronym “ALTNOY” instead of the whole song title. I don’t know it tickled me the way it did.
fandaforever, more prayers and thoughts coming your way.
I really hate to see this tour end. It has been a wild ride, but it won’t stop here. You can’t stop this runaway train.
I was just thinking, a year from now, what will his performances be like? I think he will be better than we can even imagine.
My last sentence at my 2:41 post) should have been “I don’t know why it tickled me the way it did.”
Fandaforeverti48- thank you!
Funny thing is, this is a support group here and you are not alone. Looks like there are alot of us (bebe, river, dawn, HG….??) sharing this melancholy -- “a pensive (dreamingly thoughtful) mood.”
It is a support group and I’m glad to be here…cause I need it. And what a celebration it is! He just never ceases to amaze me. The radio interviews from today are so telling of his growth and comfort, yet still comes through as just David.
Praying for your husband’s full recovery and ((((for you))))
Beebee -- Anyhoo, I guess my point is I’m not too *fretty* about it.
Voice of reason….I will follow suit.
fandaforeverti48 -- David didn’t write the song. These are the songwriters listed on the lyrics page:
SAVE THE DAY
(M. Seminari/C. Nielsen/D. Baker)
vee60 Thank you for those excerpts. I will have to click on the links tomorrow when I have more time.
Angelica: The speed with which he is moving makes it almost inconceivable to visualize what he will be like one year from now. Yes, David, if you are reading this, we are talking about you. LOL
lol… we’re both a little hootie, doncha think? I love playing with you bebe. {{hug}}
Well, I really do understand people’s frustrations and questions about “the management” (by which I mean everybody… Jive/Azoff/Team D) but I have always been ultra aware that I am not privy to pretty much ANYTHING about their strategies and full game plans. Nor do I have a grasp of the big picture. (I know nothing about the biz.) I do not naively “trust” them in a pollyanna way, but I do think they probably know just a tad more about it than I do. So… I just can’t git mah knickers in a twist about it all. lol I mean, I think things are going prit-tee dang well.
(My, but I’m chatty tonite. I’m A Little Too Not Shutting Up. Somebody bonk me on the head. I should get to bed and get a decent night’s sleep.)
Angelica -- I was just thinking, a year from now, what will his performances be like? I think he will be better than we can even imagine.
I have no doubt. I think even now he is better than what we’ve witnessed. We’ve seen little glimpses like the WFM from Reno. I think as he gets more comfortable in his own skin well be in for some treats.
I’ve started my tour savings… hoping for a LA stop this summer, if not, since I don’t fly I will be planning a road trip.
Angelica, thinking about David a year from now almost makes me pass out! lol. Pass the smelling salts!
Oh Beebee you make me laugh! (especially when you said “I’m A Little Too Not Shutting Up.”) LMAO!
I had a blast with you and everyone else here tonight. Thank you for your friendship. I think it’s time to say “Nite all” aka I’m A Little Too Not Awake. LOL See what you made me do, Beebee? LOL
not well…we’ll be in for some treats.
beebee -- I should get to bed and get a decent night’s sleep.)
The voice of reason again… good night!!! Get ready for tomorrow!!!
lol… we just get nincompoopier and nincompoopier the longer we stay up!
To BED! :::P.O.I.N.T.I.N.G … with … A.U.T.H.O.R.I.T.Y:::
(izzit working? will somebody point for me?) (puh-leeese?)
beebee — pointing!!!!! lol
Beebee: I pointed!
lol
*poof!*
Hi Angelica,
I never got the opportunity to compliment nor congratulate you on your wonderful post. After reading it -- I felt similiar to the way I felt after David sang “Imagine” for the first time -- BLOWN AWAY! I’ve always enjoyed your artistic commentary in the past and now your posts are also “off the hook” good.
If you’re reading this SF and LIZ -- HUGS to you both! Wish I were there with you to experience a concert which may be one for the ages in Archuhistory. Like someone mentioned earlier -- I just have to start saving my pennies from now for whatever Summer brings. I’ve only experienced David twice -- AI and NM and it DEFINITELY wasn’t enough. He IS something to behold in concert.
Have a wonderful day all -- until later tonignt!
fandaforeverti48 , your husband, you and your family are in my prayers. Hoping that the chemo would be successful, and have a good recovery. My niece, 15yrs old at the moment is having chemo too for her leukemia , not good prognosis. She started her chemo, last March 2008, had a relapse last August and had to restart with a much stronger chemo meds. We are told to pray and to enjoy her last few months.

“My husband wondered how he (an 18yo) could write such moving words without having experienced such emotions.”
I have the belief that David pulls from his own personal experience with vocal paralysis at age 13. A profession Armageddon to a young man just discovering his way in music. Add to that David’s empathetic nature and you come up with one very sensitive individual.
I hear it again in Falling:
Feels like my life’s been passing by
With happiness just bein’ a lie
How did I get here, where am I going?
One more day without knowing
Struggling for one more breath
As I’m drowning in a painful death
Can someone reach out for me?
In this dark and dreary sea

lurker here-- Did you see the comment from a reader of the story in the Deseret News? Here’s what she said:
I happened to be taking friends from out of town to see the Tabernacle Choir practise tonight. We got there late. We took our sweet time taking pictures in the loby of the conference center. When we walked in I noticed people huddled around in a group. I thought maybe an aposle was there but I could not see any old people in the group. We unintentionally walked close by and found out that David Archuleta was taking pictures. We were within 25 feet of him. It was a small crowd, maybe 10 people. To my disappointment, as soon as I noticed him, he started leaving. We found out later that he sung to the choir before we got there. I wish the staff would have told us we were missing out on David A when were taking pictures outside.
Just want to say how EXCITE I am for David tonight doing his last show on the Tour! It will be AMAZING, EXCITING and VERY EMOTIONAL all at the same time. I wish him the best. David is the best thing to hit the musical industry in a lifetime! I am certainly thankful and happen to have been able to witness this amazing person. I’ve noticed in interviews he talks about TEENS and MOMS…and MOMS coming to the shows (even without their daughters) and I just want people to know that there are a lot of FEMALE FANS who have NEVER BEEN MOMS -- like me -- WHO LOVE DAVID. So, there are OLDER FEMALE FANS (NOT MOMS) who love you David….as well as lots of MALE FANS -- young and old who love you too. Never in my lifetime have I been so touched by an artist in all my lifetime. Thank you for coming into my life David.
welcome daffyfordavid @ 9:01.
after reading that deseret news comment, i wonder if david was there to practice for an upcoming performance with the choir.
Good morning!
Just on my way out, would be at SLC at around 1pm. Thanks for all the good wishes! Would soak it all in and report back! Am excited, could not sleep last night.
Tawna, your email address did not work. Hope to see you there though.
Morning all! Are we reeeaaadddaaay! This is a momentous day for our David. He is making the victory lap and approaching the finish line of a wildly successful first solo tour. I can only imagine how excited he must be right now. I am so proud of him, I could bust a gut!
vee60- so sorry about your 15 year old niece. How very sad. That brought tears.
daffyfordavid- thanks for the David sighting report. Delurk more.
Abrra- Observe how I finally spelled your name right. I also have long believed that David’s experience with vocal paralysis was an extremely devastating ordeal for him. I read an interview years ago, with a professor of Art who was asked whether it was possible to make great art without experiencing some real angst in your life. I never forgot his answer, because it was so short and unequivocal. It was simply one word: No.
As David says, everything happens for a reason.
Dang it… I should have stayed up !!!
My fav part of Save The Day .. (was going to initial it…just realized..NO..that won’t work on jD… LOL) anyways…I particularly choke up a little when he hits this part …
Hands of the clock

But your heart is racing

Pulled down by the weight of it
Happy Birthday djafan !!! Good luck with the cake….I couldn’t cut it… the idea even kills me.. LOL. I’m a dork… don’t listen to me… that’s why I “get” David …..LOL.
fandaforeveri48 .. you have the support and love of everyone here.
Tonight’s the night, we all must plan something unique and significant.
I know tonight will just be amazing for David. I’m so happy for him.. he deserves “Amazing”.
Think I’m on for a nap early tonight so I have the stamina to last through the concert and the flood of emotions that will come along with it.
Angelica March 27, 2009 at 10:55 am

Angelica, GG-archudoors, a devouted fan over at FOD just posted your beautiful post in FOD. And she has something to say about justDavid too:
Hi Team! I am taking the extreme liberty of posting a blog entry posted on the JustDavid blog site… this is the site formed after Noting David went inactive… I love reading the posts there -- the posters are some of the most dedicated fans of David around, and some of the most insightful and brilliant writers about David, their feelings about David, and their hopes and dreams for him… this post was written by Angelica, and sums up for many the feelings we have, but are at a loss sometimes to express….. I hope she doesn’t mind me posting it, but it’s just amazing!
I meant “devoted” and/or “devout”, not “devouted”
dawn65 -- Thank you!…..we got pretty “nincompoopie” last night. Glad to hear so many of us are so in tuned to Save The Day.
Angelica -- I also have long believed that David’s experience with vocal paralysis was an extremely devastating ordeal for him.
I read somewhere that he also had appendicitis during the vocal paralysis.
Abrra -- I have the belief that David pulls from his own personal experience with vocal paralysis at age 13. A profession Armageddon to a young man just discovering his way in music. Add to that David’s empathetic nature and you come up with one very sensitive individual.
I hear it again in Falling:
With the vocal paralysis…barely being able to talk, appendicitis, and the suicide of a family member…it must have been really rough for him, writing Falling at such a young age I think is a window to the depth of his emotions.
vee60 -- sorry about your niece….prayers to your family.
Preparing for tonight….

ATTENTION:
beebee has created a beautiful poster-size suitable-for-framing copy of this post, A Growing Force.
I put a link to the PDF at the end of the article above. Just click it, the PDF will open, and you can save it from there.
It’s gorgeous!
And here is more from GG about justDavid
Those folks at JustDavid are awesome! Some of the folks on their are just flat out brilliant writers, and they are unafraid to probe deep beyond the surface of all things David… their passion and love for David is at the core of everything they post and discuss, and I enjoy their fearlessness in being equally supportive and offering constructive criticisms when needed…
Wow.. Angelica put us on the map.
I’ve come to realize more and more that justDavid brought together the writers out there. He stirs my passion for writing and when something he does inspires me.. I just have to let it rip…sometimes that’s at 3:00 AM in the morning (dangit David).
I think it’s our way of expressing our creativity ..sometimes it lies dormant, until something, or in this case someONE, awakens the sleeping beast.
Just a ball of weepiness today. Forgive my lack of eloquence.
My only wish is someday he knows how much he inspires people.. all over the world. If he takes a look at RisingStar Outreach..he may get an inclination.
Oh David David David.
Dear FOD lurkers.. please know we may write well, but we’re only human…and sometimes…I just have to be screaming fangirl. We never mean any ill with our ramblings..and have the utmost respect for everything justDavid 8)
Angelica and Djafan thanks for the prayers. At this moment, that is all we can do now, but miracles can still happen. She was diagnosed to have leukemia last February 2008, immediately started chemo in March. We were told that we are still lucky, she lasted this long. April 2008 was the last time we saw her when we visited the Philippines. You won’t think she was sick except for the turban, other than that she looked alright.
That is why, I always think and now be saying that everyday should always be special because you never know what is going to happen tomorrow.
Happy Birthday djafan !!!
Congratulation JR, to you daughter and to your family !!!!

Behind the scenes video interview with David from where he was conducting the online chat in Habbo
Some pictures in Snarkies too
http://www.habbo.com/articles/919-david-archuleta-was-here
visit habbo for mote pictures
Luv this interview
Thank you, Dawn for explaining our human-ness and fangirly behavior from time to time.
With that in mind, regarding the Habbo video, I tried to be dignified, I tried to be mature, I tried to be an adult but I lost it at the look on David’s face when he walked through the door at the very beginning of the video. And the rest of the video was no better!
**goes off to be a fangirl**
Habbo
Unfiltered David again
“Hey person I don’t know.”
“Imagine has become a reality”
And of course “silent” movie version is just like frosting on the cake. Lots of hand action! And when he looks at his laptop screen. /faint
Abrra
(Sending fangirl to the corner… enter level headed observer..)
Cake or Pie ?
Abrra’s technique of no sound was especially useful for me here. Seriously, I didn’t want to hear anymore American Idol questions.
Idol was so yesterday.. David has moved on SO far from idol.
This was in the middle of his tour.. nobody wanted to know about his tour? Nobody wanted to know about Asia, the UK ? Nobody wanted to know about any new music he’s working on ? Nobody wants to know what inspired him to write Zero Gravity ?
..Cake or pie.
(enter fangirl)
Dear David, yes peach cobbler is great. Can I conduct your next interview ?
(enter level headed observer) Ooohhh.. that’s an idea.. we should create our own list of questions we’d love to have David answer. With no expectation of getting them answered…just a ..for fun thought provoking exercise.
And those questions can’t involve what he eats, drinks, if he snores, why he started singing, his American Idol experience ..or his favorite colors.
ok ok ok.. I’m whining. I know.
(enter fangirl)…The interview was GREAT !!! ..of course the interview was GREAT.. it doesn’t matter because it’s David and he’s just so dreamy.
(enter therapist)..David has me speaking about myself in the third person…AND having a dialogue with fictitious personalities… this can’t be good.
dawn65: LOL! That is so typical of my own silly inner fangirl rantings -- I love it!
AND….I love the idea of us creating interview questions for David. Hmmm, with the potential of actually submitting it and posting the answers on the new…uh, oh…at a later date.
Okay, as a gift to David at his SLC concert, let’s make ALTNOY #1 on XM 20/20. Vote like a banshee:

vee60: My son’s girlfriend also has leukemia. She’s been through a lot, but is heading out the positive side of the journey. I have your email…I’ll write to you later this evening. Hugs!
marlie, I’m voting like a banshee (a banshee who is also working and attempting to walk and chew gum at the same time) lol
My heart goes out to all of you and yours who are battling illness. {{hug}} and prayers. I feel for you.
:::runs back in::::
and happy birfday djafan!
::::runs back out::::
marlie7 – I hope somehow Angelica’s piece gets to David….
marlie7… ok, what’s brewing?
dawn65 -- I think it’s our way of expressing our creativity ..sometimes it lies dormant, until something, or in this case someONE, awakens the sleeping beast.
He sure has woken something up in me….beast is a good word for it but also this introspective side of me that surprises me at times. What’s freaky is that others are noticing something different about me. And I will fangirl with the best of them…lol.
Vee60-Thank you!
That is why, I always think and now be saying that everyday should always be special because you never know what is going to happen tomorrow.
I made a decision yesterday that I am going to do things that make me happy, like if I would have given going to Utah more thought and not think that’s crazy and unreasonable, I’d be there now. Not going to let that happen again.
dawn65 and marlie7– I say let’s get that list of questions prepared … who knows maybe someday they can be answered.
I’ve been voting like crazy… and I also voted on the PopStar thing….prayers for son’s girlfriend!
Jackryan4da – Thank you!
I love watching David…. I couldn’t believe he stuck that whole empanada in his mouthhhhhh.. .
beebee -- Thank you!!!!!!
djafan: “I love watching David…. I couldn’t believe he stuck that whole empanada in his mouthhhhhh.. .”
He’s a boy! My sons can just wolf down food and I swear there’s no room for them to chew sometimes when they take a GIANT bite from a sub or piece of pizza.
Son’s girlfriend -- I took her to David’s concert with me -- it was so cool cause she has ODD, too.
Adding together everyone’s favorite lines from “Save The Day”, I think it’s safe to assume that the song is a fan favorite.
vee60 My heart goes out to your niece; she is in my prayers.
Marlie7/beebee Great job on the poster-size edition of Angelica’s post. Ummm….what do you have cooking, hmmm?
bebereader- cooking?…we have special brownies cooking.
new avi test
happy,
gimme some happy brownies.
I’m gettin’ shaky.
beebee- you’re gonna be happy when you get a taste of them…
not as good as a David Archuleta concert, but still pretty sweet.
i will lovvvvve them. gimme.
Hi, this is Timbot from Rickey’s and Noting David. I have been lurking for months, but wanted to delurk for a moment to say that all of us here are on a wonderful ride to bliss and contentment. I wanted to share with all of you my trip to Reno to see David in concert.
I decided at the last minute to see David, so I bought my ticket online and reserved a room at the Grand Sierra resort. I made it to the venue after having a vehicle break down on the way up. Dang it! I waited in line for 3 hours and sat down in the theatre in a booth by myself. A wonderful family of five joined me and off we went. I must tell you, David was awesome and lit the place up. Everyone I overheard seemed surprised that he could sing so well live, but we all know better right? I noticed many tweens, teens, young and older adults in the audience that night. What I was surprised to observe was that no matter the age, gender, race, creed, or orientation, everyone was happy and had a contented look on their face; blissful and satisfied.
I felt honored to be part of a growing community of grateful and satisfied human beings.
Wow, how often can you feel that way at a concert!
Blessings,
Timbot
I spoke with GMALil (Lily) who was hanging with Silver Fox and sandybeaches and awaiting Kizzi. It’s been a really full day and they’re all so stoked for tonite. I can’t wait for the reports.
awww, Timbot! I love your story. You were joined by a fan family. (David does have the bestest fans.) Reno was a great show from the vids I’ve seen. (I know, they all are.) Seems funny that anybody was surprised, but also must have been very satisfying to witness the light bulbs go off over a few people’s heads when they “got it”.
I’m trying to not pass out from excitement about tonite’s show. And I’m not even there… I’m just sitting at home at the computer… lol
Watching the vid of David in SLC on the Idol tour singing Angels is not helping me in the calming-down dept.
Ok .. I put fangirl down for a nap… she’s feeling much more in control for now.
Of course now she’s well rested… and preparing for underwater David in SLC 8)
Woohoo !!!
We must vow not to whine about not being there… we’re there in spirit 8)
happyyyyyyyyy … ltns !!!
I’m trying to figure out if I’m doing SLC in the family room, or on the laptop at a place of my choosing. Hmm…it’s pretty nice out tonight.. maybe the patio..
Ok Dawn- I promise to quit whining. I have to believe that there will be a super new opportunity to hear David live, who knows, maybe even this summer. Have to keep the Archu-faith.
oh river.. definately this summer. I’m already preparing for road trips.. I don’t even care if he’s an opening act for someone I don’t like.. LOL.
Eli made it seem like there was lots going on by way of his summer plans.
Although I love this idea.. poor David.. I hope they don’t wear him out.
But in that one interview…do you hear how he said that no matter how tired he felt sometimes, the minute he hit that stage.. he just got into it…and the energy was amazing.
I’m so glad he had fun on this tour… we did too 8)
I like the maturity that he showed in the interview in talking about preserving his voice and learning how to take better care of himself. He is so motivated and clearly seems to see the big picture. I can’t think of another young artist that exhibits these traits.
That’s because he an old soul trapped in a body of an 18 year old.. 8)
He’s really just growing into his skin. I love to go back and watch the With You from American Idol. I mean this with nothing but love..but David was so awkward with his moves on that performance.. of course I loved it.. who wouldn’t.
But now…when I watch the ZG stacks.. and wow.. talk about transformation.
He’s amazing.
His interviews are going so well.. he’s more comfortable, and I just love that he’s embracing who he is.. and he may even start liking himself.
Sometimes it’s hard to remember on the inside he’s going through all the normal growing pains of being 18.
He’s given up so much.. he’s gained a lot, but he’s given up so much. We’re one VERY lucky fanbase.
DAWN -- you put fangirl down for a nap? So I won’t be disturbing it when I share what the little FOD birdie twitted SLC
“Upcoming Spanish love ballad that will hopefully be recorded by David is called She Waits!”
Moz def he will have a summer tour. Must start stashing the cash now. I’m so excited for everyone who is in SLC tonight! happy, I baked brownies tonight for the occasion too. Triple chocolate. Must keep up my strength, planning to make it a long night cause it will be the only last night of his first solo tour ever. Not gonna come again. I have a thing for his last concerts. I drove 9 hours during a hurricane to go to Tulsa and it was worth every mile. I wish I could have gone to Utah too but, Oh well. We have plenty of people who will be their by proxy for us and tell us all about it and many vids and pics to come. And underwater cellcast!! Now where did I put that snorkel. Anyway, David sounds better through a crappy cellcast than most people sound live or recorded.
Welcome Timbot- great story. You got to hear the Reno WFM live. *Jealous*
jr4da- She waits! Is it on youtube by someone? (off to check.) brb!
Hi everyone,
I don’t post often, but ND and now JD has been my “home” this past year so I hope you don’t mind if I join you tonight -- I am sooooo excited and a little sad that I did not go to Utah
I would love to spend this memorable night with all of you while listening to the cell cast.
“Upcoming Spanish love ballad that will hopefully be recorded by David is called She Waits!”
The gift that keeps on giving right ?
He’s on fire.. spreading like wildfire.
Spanish ballad.. that’s going to be heart stopping.
Trying to keep fangirl at bay here.
Reading all over the place isn’t helping.
The fanbase is on the edge of their seats, even more so than opening night I think.
Big night… big night.
We so need a clear cellcast.. please please… my only wish for tonight.
omg, dawn… *runs to watch x-factor With You*
btw, the show has begun… but David should be “on” in about an hour and 15 mins from now.
Archiesfan4life, please pull up a chair and make yourself at home.
I went to youtube but only found She Waits for Me by a European group that was not at all a ballad, so this must be new?? Why? Why does he do this to us when he knows what it does to us? I guess I answered my own question.
I’m sort of sitting here remembering the ember that was struck with the first audition, and watching the flames grow and spread each week. What I witnessed at the two concerts last month was a bust out forest fire, and it’s still just beginning. Holy smoke.
Where did you here about She Waits?
I’m here, too, for the night, glad to share it with my jD compatriots.
Maarlie, it was a message from twitter — Becky FOD, I believe. She was at the FOD lunch in SLC today, and Richard supplied the info, if I remember correctly.
Happy: Am I too late? Any brownies left?
What an exciting night! Glad so many of you are here to share our emotions together. I’ve been watching the AI SLC WYSYLM and it’s unbelievable to see the size of the crowd David will be performing for tonight.
archiesfan3life…..Grab a recliner and welcome aboard. Glad to have you join us tonight.
river….I like your comparison of tonight’s show to a bust out forest fire but I much prefer David’s words singing:
“We’re finally breaking into the daylight,
In the warmth of the sun,
I will stand by your side till your fear passes on,
So just look in my eyes,
Baby try to hold on and you find it won’t be long…”
BTW Are we going to the cellcast at FOD or Snarkies?
About the Spanish love song, it was JennyFOD on twitter:
JennyFOD Upcoming spanish love ballad that will hopefully be recorded by david is called she waits!
River, me, too re: forest fire… and moz def HOLY SMOKE!
bebe, now are we sure snarkies are doing a cellcast? I see a crowd gathering at the FOD blogtv
ohhh… they say the crowd is already CA-RAZY… can you imagine how high the roof is gonna blow off when David takes the stage? (They have the two Jumbo Monitors for great close-ups just like at the idol tour)
JUMP………JUMP………JUMP………..JUMP…………JUMP
Oh, don’t mind me. I’m just jumping off the walls, waiting for tonight’s underwater show.
Second act about to start
LOL… training for ZG
beebee Okay so it’s FOD.
You mean they have the jumbotons??? OMGosh!
THUD!
uh….I meant jumbotrons.
Did you see this video?
http://www.fox13now.com/news/kstu-david-archuleta-performs-for-hometown-crowd,0,3748777.story
oh YES, bebe… i’ve seen that little jewel several (or a dozen) times.
hehe why did I even ask? LOL
lol
ok, ya’ll… trying to decide. Will consuming a glass of wine calm my pitterpattering heart? OR MAKE ME CRAZIER?
wine is good, as long as you share
“David Archuleta, only 18 years old and at the top of the music world.” said the journalist who interviewed David at the E-Center today.
JUMP……..JUMP………JUMP………JUMP……….JUMP……..
thanks bebereader.. somehow I missed that one. Believe me I don’t miss much. Boy was he relaxed, even in the face of a fawning reporter. What’s different is that everything said about our David is true. I don’t think he’s all that nervous. A long time ago someone asked him if it was tough to sing for his family and friends and he said “oh no. after all, they’ve been listening to me longer than anyone…” I thought it was remarkable then and I still do.
lol… bebe, how will a glass of shiraz affect your jumping style?
Yes, thanks bebereader. I hadn’t seen that one either. He is getting so smooooooth at these interviews.
Jenny just twittered that Mike dyed his hair black.
River, I remember that, too.
Y’know, (stating the obvious, and to the choir, no less, but…) David is just unfreakin’ believable. There’s a youtube at Snarkies that is a better recording of David singing You Can on TV today, and the audio is excellent on it, and it just made my kneecaps fall off. Guh. He is just such an amazing talent.
I wonder if he has at least a few surprises tonight. (Stand By Me?)
really? that surprises me. but he’s the only band guy with tatoos also, but it sure doesn’t seem like him. he’s kind of serious.
I think that was a GenGen video and her sound is always great. I thought he was fantastic doing You Can today and he was cookin’ too.
Thanks for the welcome -- I am thrilled to be spending this night with all of you. Zoe just called me -- she saw my post -- she is a sometime poster at JD and we met one another when we went to the Allentown concert. I wonder if David knows all the friendships that have been formed because of him!
snarkies and FOD are both doing cellcast.
beebee,
You think he might do SBM too? That sound check was very interesting. hmmmmm. I sure hope so and we get good video.
river, it wasn’t gengen’s… lemme see if I can fetch the one I’m talkin’ about.
WELCOME archiesfan4life! Zoe should join the par-tay tonite.
We should have done a chat 2nite
I’m jumping out of my skin.
no no…lol… wait, wait, maybe it was gengen’s. It was. I’m a nincompoop. (big news)
ok, so now it looks like snarkies are revving up for a cellcast. Guess it’ll all depend on which has the best sound.
Interesting that you mention the friendships formed. Today I was on the phone with 3 people that I had nothing in common with except a love of David’s music. I met one through another interest entirely and we discovered we were David nuts. Another I met through a Jingle Ball ticket purchase and went to the show with. she’s now someone I love to check in with. The 3rd is dear djxoxo that I met through Noting David and we travelled to Sayerville and the epic Northampton concerts. All 3 of tehm can chatter for hours about every David detail and none of us finds it odd. It’s sort of like a security blanket and I have faith that these 3 will be with me for the long career haul.
dawn, chat is too fast for my lil pea brain. I’d hafta sit here in the slow room all by myself.
They’re changing DAVID DAVID NOW
Every interview David particpates in seems to make the interviewer go all ga ga and “poof” they turn into a better human being.
David, you are that we are all seeking to be!
Thanks for being true to truth!
Auntie Abrra is present and accounted for. What an historic night!
Here is one of my favorite fan videos. Hugging David! Watch the young girls eyes as he hugs her. She gets a bit stunned! then she looks right at the camera as if to say “Pinch me! Is this really happening?”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LSq4sb12AY&feature=related
Abrra
If I chant in a silent room, will anyone hear me?
beebee -- I would be in the slow room with you -- those chats go so fast!!!! I was hoping I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t keep up.
Hope the sound is halfway decent tonight.
We might have to wear snorkel gear to hear it better.
lol, timbot.
river. I’ll hear ya.
Auntie Abrra! That is one of my all time fave vids! I ADORE it!
I was running a Youtube search today just on David Archuleta and there were over 30 thousand videos. Hardly seems enough.
Are any of you in the cellcast yet?
archiesfan… chat rooms for me usually feel like getting trampled by a herd of buffalo. lol
The chat part is too distracting to me. I resize the window to hide it. Its spam o rama. LOL
Abrra
bebe:
1) How’s the wiiiiine going down? Hm?
2) I’m currently tuned into snarkycast. Nothing live at the moment. Am pestering twitter peeps for update *getting shaky*
Yes, I’m in the FOD cellcast. Nothing at Snarky’s that I can get
haha… here’s answer to my pester:
No daaaavid yet. Waiting and watching tweens faint of gleeeeee
My hubby is playing the FOD cell cast through our stereo speakers for me -- he loves David too!
beebee -- that is exactly what it feels like!
FOD keeps freezing up on me
beebee….doing pretty well but it won’t last long lol
I just signed into the FOD cellcast and heard David’s voice, then ZG and I’m like huh???? The sound is so clear!
Duh me…they are playing the song. LOL
awww… your hubby. That’s so sweet. (but can an underwater cellcast on the *big stereo* be a good thing?? lol)
FOd is working ok so far for me. /waves to Dawn
Abrra
20 minutes to the MEGASTAR!
FOD is doing well, so far
well, I’ll jump cellcasts *snap!*just like that if the sound is best on one over the other. (Does that make me evil?)
cellcast isn’t working for me at all.
dawn, refresh your page?
ok… i.e. works a little better
Dawn Are you on FOD?
dang, the drag on posting tonight is wicked.
my twitter peeps say “any minute now”
beebee -- hubby said it may not be a good thing, but it can be a loud thing!!!
Does Snarky’s have a cellcast?
good grief
sometimes sound isn’t good to have … LOL
at the concert --> “The energy in here is palpable.” =:O
AF4L… it’s allll goooood.
I haven’t seen it come to life yet marlie…I’m on FOD.. not thrilled with it…but it is what it is.
i have a curiously strong affection for crappy cellcasts. lol
Cellcast started on FOD!
started on snarkies. (sounds like squealing puppies. not a good sign.)
What time is it in Utah? When is he coming out? How long O Lord?
Hi everyone!
Trying to take part in this great event in our big boy’s career by listening to the cellcast.
Oh, well, what’s a regular Brazilian fan to do? I’m happy and excited for those in Utah tonight. I’m sure it’ll be unforgettable. Love David!
ahhh screaming..underwater David..
“reach out as far as you can…”
He’s the only person who can sound good underwater!
Hold on….Barriers is next! Fasten your seatbelts!
OMG, he’s wearing CHURCH SLACKS!!! =:O
I’m listening on FOD but can’t get anything on Snarkies. Anyone else getting them?
beebee *wink wink*
omg the snarky cast is GREAT
BARRIERS!!!!
What else is he wearing?
white t-shirt and grey hoodie vest with those church slacks
snarkies is better ?
Where is the snarky cellcast? Their page says no live show
sounds great to me (but I’m not comparing. I’m happy where I am.)
He sounds so happy!!!!!!!!!!
marlie7 -- that is what I get too
FOD cellcast is surprisingly good
FOD cellcast is good, marlie and archiesfan4life
I got into Snarkies by clicking on live shows and scrolling down to the snarky window
OMG, HE SOUNDS AMAZING. Underwater, no less! HE IS SMOKIN!!!!
can someone provide the link to the snarky cast? their website says “currently no live broadcast”.
thx in advance!
here you go, ebonyangel
http://www.blogtv.com/People/snarkyarchies&ref=alert
SOT sounds fantastic!
He sounds strong and, so far, in control of his emotions. YAY! ALTNOY chorus is so hard to sing -- always has me tense! Never worried about a singer before. This ODD is so out of control.
(valbraz, that tension? I’m finding wine helps. lol)
On Snarkies, click on the crappy cell cast, then live shows at the top of the page. You will see a lot of windows. one says snarkies. That gets you in.
pass the bottle lol
thx angelica and beebee. i’m not getting sound from either cell cast. do i need to login???
bebereader -- thanks -- I am on FOD
No need to login, but you might need to refresh your screen
ignore my message @ 11:42-- i just figured it out. thx!
ebony, try refreshing the page.
LOL… bebe… here:

I am jumping…..jumping…….
imagining the spinning
vee: can you hear it now?
SASSY jumpin’ SASSY spinnin’… =:O
That glory note was glorious. He is fine form tonight!
I think the hoodie is like the one he wore for iCarly only in white. It’s a sleeveless hoodie over a white tee.
WAIT… we can’t be at CRUSH already. NO.
twitter peeps:
“He is dripping wet”
NO…NO No…. But you know, it is cool, I am just reading all the comments….
It is fun just reading And imagining it…..imagination ( with all previous experience, youtube)
SO PLEASE YOUTUBE>>>>>>>
How can it be almost over? He just started singing!
vee: Yes, we need videos, sooner than asap.
Wow! Finally success! I’ve been trying to log on for days and just couldn’t figure out how to do it. But I’m in -- yea! And just as David started singing YEDL -- one of my favs!! He’s always working his magic on me.
Formerly Zoe, and I’m was just an occasional poster of ND, but I so love this site and all you amazing fans. The posts have been phenomenal!
How crazy is the crowd tonight!!! And how lucky are we to be able to listen to it all, even if we have to hear it under water! David somewhat garbled is still David GLORIOUS!
Archiesfan4life -- great to talk to you tonight and thanks for your help! OMG -- here comes You Can! Hope you get that call and are listening to this one over the phone!
Noooooo it can’t be over already!!!!
Encore! Encore!! David David David David!!!

He is amazingly strong tonight. Very rich in sound
Hi calliexoda -- yeah -- you made it! Welcome back!
It was so nice to talk to you too!
lol… djafan… pesky birthday parties. Hurry back.
calliexoda -- I did get the call when David sang TBWY -- it was incredible!
Angels already. sniff.
Hi Calliexoda formerly Zoe,
angels
he is definitely on fire, dawn.
oh lordy this Angels
Okay, I’m crying now…ANGELS!! I’ll bet SF and all the gang are bawling their eyes out too! Holy crap, he’s singing the guts out of this one.
Hey all you unbelievably lucky concertgoers out there…GET THOSE VIDEOS UP PRONTO!! Don’t eat, don’t drink, don’t pee. We need them NOW!!
I’m here!!!!!!!!! We need videos tonight!!!! My granddaughter made me a David b-day card. She wrote,
Grandma,
We know your suffering from something very, very, very serious
ODD
Hey, it spells odd, what a coincidence. Anyway we still love, love, love you!!!
http://www.fox13now.com/news/kstu-archuleta-performs-home-town-fans,0,7323292.story
FOD ended
Callie -- we should at least let them pee. haha!
djafan -- I love that! Isn’t it just perfect coming from the granddaughter? Mine lives on opposite coast but am still very close to her. She’s like my lil soulmate who understands my ODD.
Again HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
no surprises….
no surprises
he must be exhausted….
So he IS going to Los Angeles tomorrow.. wow.. he can’t catch a break can he.
We got YEDL at least. I guess that “could” be a surprise. haha!
Julie ~ You are too kind. I say, start the uploading, then a bathroom break!
I’m kind of dying here. And not in the least tired. Oh, how am I going to get up in 5 hours?!
I’mnot tired, either. I’m a little teary-eyed. Not sure why, I guess. Seems like the end of an era -- a short, wonderful first-tour era for David.
Still hanging out at FOD. They might cellcast from the afterparty.
he might do something special on the after party
beebee -- Noooooooooo!
Dripping wet?
(just now read that)
Betsy -- Maybe they can hookup the computer in the bathroom. haha!
fandaforeverti48 -- Thank you….she’s my first of eight and she gets me! She went to the concert with me and loved it. She helps me with my voting and requesting for David as long as I help her with the same for Demi Lovato.
What do you mean no surprises?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kF8EHV7kf6g&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fidolforums%2Ecom%2Findex%2Ephp%3Fshowtopic%3D590056%26st%3D7760&feature=player_embedded
Wish we had a webcam and could see the after party.
I caught about 10 seconds of the crappy cellcast. Did he sing Como La Flor?
Hey all -- Stay with FOD!! David’s singing Zero Gravity and the audio is coming in great!
That ZG is from the Virginia Beach show on FOD now.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kF8EHV7kf6g
A tiny bit of TMH tonight from Fox13 UTAH
Oops!
Sorry Juliebug, you have already posted it
Julie -- WOW!! You are quick.
Becky is on at FOD…
AND ~ They mention the new album!
Juliebug and vee60 -- you guys are awesome! Thanks for your quick work!!
I am patiently waiting for more, More, MORE!! No pressure, but hurry! I’m getting older by the minute.
Is anybody here?
Me. I’m here…but jumping back and forth between sites. haha!
Why am I still listening to Annie at Snarkys? I just can’t let go. Somebody hold me.
Becky from FOD said he cried a little bit but mostly had a huge smile on his face throughout the whole night.
dja: I’m here but on FOD’s cellcast too and reading my mail.
I’m here, too. Just floating around.
FOD is going to try to cellcast from the after party.
calliexoda -- maybe they’re peeing? lol
The news guy sure was excited! He knew David’s schedule…that’s a first.
Yep…good question…Why am I still listening to Annie also? Angelica{{{{{hugs}}}}} I’m with ya…miss him already…
Someone just uploaded some Chicago videos -- you’d think these were by one of the pro videographers -- take a look. Some are only partials, but wow!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZnK1fTTKA8
I’m sick, I have a fever, but I feel like if I shut down FOD.. something will slip away.
I’m delirious .. LOL
So sad right now.
Happy for him..proud of him.. but don’t know.. this sense of loss is a bit overwhelming.. don’t know what that is.
Sense of loss…that about says it, dawn.
Oh good…. your here.
I have like 6 windows open …. trying to catch something…listening to the music on FOD.
Angelica -- I don’t want to let go either!
angelofdja- I know. {{{{hugging}}}} you back.
FOD is going to cellcast after party?
dawn65 -- I’m sorry you’re feeling ill
Angelica -- That’s what Becky said when she called into FOD.
wow marlie..that chicago video is amazing.
Love the way he bounces on his toes during One.
What are we gonna do between now and the UK ?
Dear David.. your tour has exhausted me, I’ve missed many a nights sleep waiting patiently for youtube videos.
Oh.. and not a big fan of tonight’s attire… sleeveless hoodies make David look 12.
Anyone that thinks he listens to anyone.. may be sadly mistaken. Do you honestly think 10 people didn’t ask him if THAT was what he was wearing ?
LOL…
again.. this is just my opinion.. I’m of the shirt and tie/jeans look.. thud.
I’m flat out DAID, DONE, GONE. Exhausted and exhilarated… and I have to be up at the crack of dawn.
Sure was fun hanging with you all tonight!
What an awesome blast these last few weeks have been. So happy and grateful that I got to see David in Allentown and also that I got to meet my new best friend, Archiesfan4life!
Thank the Lord above for Youtube!!
Years from now we’ll reminisce about how we were witness to the first solo tour of the now world renown master!
But for now I’m already starting to feel the effects of withdrawal. Whimper…
Wait! Tomorrow David’s on that awards show! Whew…the withdrawal can wait another day.
Night all!
sbrraspamming again..
and another thing.. I love the HOB show…but I’d have been pretty pissed if I’d been there…waited in line for hours to be in front..and then couldn’t see anything.
How many photographers and videographers WERE there ?
And does anyone know what that was about yet ?
Are they going to sell a live DVD?
geez I’m rambling.
MY HANDS -- 30 secs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_AWM5Vo-oE
dawn65,
I bet you are so right. He has a his own style and I bet nobody can tell him anything about what to wear. I think Jeff mentioned that at a meet and greet during the AI tour.
Put me down for jeans, dark shirt, tie. Chicago attire was…um…THUD! You can see his shoulder and little body moves better when he wears this style. (Hopefully that sounded OK, I don’t want to get sent on a time-out for misbehavin’!)
I’m intrigued by the idea of David making a CD this summer. Do you think it’s the Christmas one? Or do you think they are going to let David write all his own songs. That would be the best second album we could get!
Okay, what are we going to do between now and the UK? Clean up our videos, make scrapbooks, write lovelorn letters to our favorite young singer/songwriter/hottie, scan youtube for videos we missed, mutter to ourselves as we go about our day, sit at the PC hoping someone comes along with some news.
Actually, I think David will be busy, we’ll get videos and reports from Asia, and we will be wildly anticipating the UK videos.
just watched the Chicago video….a good one.
dawn65 -- Oh.. and not a big fan of tonight’s attire… sleeveless hoodies make David look 12.
It’s ok… but yeah, the jeans and shirt is my favorite…double thud.
First partial of Salt Lake City!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_AWM5Vo-oE
Angelica ..”He has a his own style… yes honey he does.. it’s called hit or miss. (I love you David…don’t be mad)
Marlie.. scrapbooking.. and turning these videos into DVDs. Organizing thousands of photos from the tour. LOTS to do.
Don’t know what CD he’ll be working on. I’ve given up guessing. Maybe he laid down a lot more track then we know of…so Jive can slap something together quickly.
Which would be an injustice..because alot of that stuff was recorded on the tour of AI.. and his voice has changed considerably since then.
It’s come down a few tones..and has become MUCH richer…stronger…the falsetto about knocks me out.
I didn’t see black church pants -- those were dark jeans!
angleofdja -- that sounded perfectly fine.
marlie7 and jackryan4da —- you two are good!
LOL! JR and I are really one person (kidding -- but we ALWAYS seems to find links at the same time).
I remember being so concerned about missing him after the AI Tour ended, that I just didn’t think I would be able to take it. Then David started popping up everywhere! I hope it’s like that this time. I’m more invested now…certainly my ODD has at least trippled since February!
Ok.. I hope this doesn’t sound bad… but I wanted to see David….continue to wait patiently.
Yeah, you only got a short view of him…but wow, his voice was ON tonight -- just from that little clip.
oh GOOD djafan.. I was gonna say..David was in that video for 4 seconds.
http://deseretnews.com/article/705293658/Archuleta-wows-hometown-fans.html
yup peas in a pod , Marlie & I hehe
dawn65,
Yes it is hit or miss. He’s trying out stuff and finding his style I should have said. When he misses, he misses, but when he hits…Oh Mama.
angelofdja -- I have the DVR set to record the Kids award show he’s going to be on tomorrow.
marlie7 -- He did sound good.
dawn65 -- glad it wasn’t only me
continue to wait……
That outfit wasn’t the best for me but I give him credit for sticking to he wants and not to what someone else wants him to wear. Also, remember he’s eighteen years old and that’s the way they dress.
Thanks for that 20 second clip of “My Hands”. Sounded amazing!!!
Dawn -- “yes honey he does.. it’s called hit or miss. (I love you David…don’t be mad”
Sorry, Dawn. We must remind ourselves AGAIN that we are not his target demographic. The young ones his age and a little older at IDF, etc. absolutely LOVE the stuff he’s been wearing. (sigh)
ooh… nice pictures in the deseret.
what will he do if the hawkie goes out of style?
I think that’s the only way he knows how to wear his hair.. LOL
Photos here on IdF -- Gah!
http://idolforums.com/index.php?act=ST&f=549&t=590056&st=7800#entry19276393
He was in for 4 secs cos that vid was actually on ALEX -- haha. But David’s voice was strong & crisp.
SIGH. am so proud of him.
juliebug,
Thanks for the news article. Boy they are fast!
I especially liked:
They screamed when David bounced. They screamed when he flexed his bicep. They screamed when he played the keyboard. They screamed when he tried to express his feelings, partially drowning him out.
The girls and the women in the audience — who ranged from toddlers to senior citizens — were delighted. Some of the men, on the other hand, sort of looked stunned at what was happening around them.
bebereader “Also, remember he’s eighteen years old and that’s the way they dress.”
I have to analyze this now. Thinking if I know any 18 year olds anymore.
My youngest is 20.. so I have to think on this.. and both my boys are urban.. as is my son in law.
They have a very distinct style here, very different than I imagine in a lot of other places.
I don’t think I have any good comparisons …darn.
juliebug -- that was a good article, posted fast.
And his voice was nothing short of amazing. There aren’t many performers a lot more seasoned than Archuleta who could pull off an a cappella song — “Como la Flor,” entirely in Spanish — and a two-song encore that was just David and the keyboard on “Thousand Miles” and “Angels.”
My favorite part…. and nice pictures.
dawn65 -- what will he do if the hawkie goes out of style?
I don’t think he’ll care…lol
Dawn -- He dresses exactly like two of my nephews, ages 18 and 19. Actually…he dresses a little better. haha!
My oldest son (26) is very urban, and even he wears hoodies, albeit Ralph Lauren, but hoodies nonetheless. With t-shirts underneath that have something graphic on them. My youngest son (21) also wears hoodies, but more like David’s -- sweatshirt material.
While we are waiting….. Zero Gravity from Chicago -- excellent video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uq1eT6figCI
I have nephews ages 13 to 21 and they all love their hoodies, t-shirts and jeans.
Yeah Marlie…that sounds like mine.. our sons are about the same age actually Justin just turned 25 and Evan will be 21 in July… lol.. that’s weird.
Graphic hoodies here.. white tees..graphic tees.. sometimes striped polos. I don’t think they’ve worn jeans that are actually their size since they turned 12.
And fitted hats..
here it’s mostly Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica.. Enyce..PhatFarm..SeanJohn.
and none of them wear Converse.. all Nike..mostly Jordan’s.
WOW. those are some nice pictures. I felt like I could almost reach out and touch him. His face is perfect. I’ve seriously never wanted to pinch his cheeks or anything like that, but I love his face, can’t help it.
angelofdja..those ARE nice pictures. Clear, crisp..vivid colors.
His face is beautiful. It’s the inner joy.. he just radiates it.
dawn65 -- yup, same kind of stuff here.
Those <b< are nice pictures. He looks good in white. And gray, black, red, green, brown, blue, pink, etc.
Still watching Annie do absolutely nothing. She is my umbilical cord. Pathetic.
Okay, I’m getting tired now. I guess I’ll get up early and see what videos JR has found
Good night all!
marlie.. maybe that’s why I find some of his choices so odd. Interesting… maybe it’s not him afterall. It’s me..being stuck in metro urbanites for so long.
I remember seeing an interview and David was seeing many of the older fans often told him they reminded him of their sons, or grandsons, or nephews. I remember watching that interview and saying out loud.. oh not at all.
David’s style works for him. He’s all encompassing.. so you gotta take whatever comes with the package.
I don’t know if he’d have the same impact on me if he was “like everyone else”
David Osmond singing at the after party now.
I hear it on FOD.
My son is about to be 26. Jeans t-shirts, hoodies. Sometimes the button down shirt with t-shirt underneath, and jeans. He’ll stop by and ask me to iron his button down, as he throws his clothes in a laundry basket instead of hanging them up. (Go figure)!
Dawn Remember David is full of surprises. Just when we think we have him pinned down, he pulls something new on us.
It’s 2:20 here, I’m starting to get chills to accompany my fever. It’s after midnight in Utah. Don’t know if David will be doing the fan afterparty, but I can absolutely see where they’d all go somewhere.. him, his family, the band..all their family. It seems ilke something they should do.
Off to take something for my fever..and get some sleep. Hopefully some videos will go up overnight after all the FODers stop partying.. LOL.
I hope they’re having a great time.. ME…I’m taking my old butt to bed..
Nite all !!!
Don’t forget to post David’s prayer and shut off the lights !!
Muah
angelofdja -- His face is perfect. I’ve seriously never wanted to pinch his cheeks or anything like that, but I love his face, can’t help it.
I’ve never wanted to pinch his cheeks either…his face is perrrfect.
Nite Dawn! Feel better and get some rest.

Ending of My Hands
Goodnight Dawn. I didn’t know you were sick. Hope you feel better in the morning.
You Can
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RGF7X9CS5Y
Sorry…That’s SOT and incorrectly labeled.
And can I say…Holy Crap!
Posting Sf’s prayer.
Just adding David’s beautiful comment too.
The way I see it is that God gave me a gift, and he expects me to use it the right way.
yeah juliebug -- now that’s what I’ve bee waiting for.
Oh… You can is actually SOT… the best he’s done…. tearing…
dawn65 feel better!
She’s fixed the labeling on that SOT. haha!
I hope you feel better Dawn. My whole household had the “funk” last week. You need rest and drink fluids, and I suggest an endless supply of David’s tour videos to soothe your soul as you recover.
juliebug -- And can I say…Holy Crap!
Was that the best or what! The subtle changes, the ending…he’s just to much!
Angelica -- Thank you for the prayer!
well, dang! My dsl connection went kablooey. So I was m.i.a. there for a bit. But now the vids are rolling in. Yay.
If that SOT video is any indication of what is to come, we are in for something good! Dang, he outdid himself on that, and that is saying something.
end of MY HANDS

Angelica, Thank you so much for posting the prayer for David!
It’s almost 1 AM here in Utah and we just got back to the hotel. David was so totally awesome I can’t even talk about it right now!
Good night everyone. And yes, it’s going to take a while to come down to earth..then I’m going to crash hard..Lord help me!
How did she get different angles on that SOT? Need to rewatch, I just realized that.
I would love to stay up a little longer and wait for more videos, but I have family to entertain tomorrow,(today!) Good thing I have done a lot of prework already. Thanks for the SOT video, Juliebug. It is a beauty. GAH… THAT VOICE!
P.S. I hope Silverfox had an “encounter of the David kind”?!
angelica -- she was taping the giant screens…. amazing.
SF -- Glad to hear from you…when you’re ready
Oh he was SO ON tonite. Guh!

SLC!! SLC!!! What can I say?! OMGosh--it was out there! I have had the most awesome 12 hours of my life. I met lots of jD friends and witnessed the most talented performer to ever happen on this planet and spoke briefly with Mike--gave him a gift for David. I cannot even begin to describe the concert. I am still wondering if it’s for real that I was there. David was-->just David-->on pitch, in tune, friendly, humble, beautiful, THE VOICE, and did I say GORGEOUS(?) He loves his crowds and really appreciates his hometown. It doesn’t matter where we are from, he loves us and we feel the love. I really surprised my self. I just planned on crying thru the whole thing, but not a tear until I got in the car and we were on the way home, then some tears happened. When I was listening to part of the sound check, my pulse was out in the ozone, and I got choked up, so I figured that’s how the evening would go. I must have been too into the moment to get involved in crying. I’m so tired now, I must get to bed--hopefully to get some sleep.
btw--I have a stupid camera, so I really just took a couple of shots--nothing worth posting, but with the amount of super, duper cameras that FOD’rs were packing around, there should be some pretty dang good pix come up.
Thanks again to SandyBeaches for working on getting some of us together. You did a good job. Love ya.

Dear jD friends…I did a write-up and accidentally clicked a wrong button…lost it all but will make another go of it…
Notice how late it is…the night owl has returned to roost and then fall off out of the tree I expect…ZZZZzzzz…
We flew for 12 hours on Thursday with one connection…we watched David for 1 1/2 hours…we flew home the next day for again another 12 hours…My husband said to me on the plane..”Would you like to read? Would you like to talk or something?”I said…”no thanks I think that I will sleep for the 12 hour trip!!!” Not quite right…I reviewed in my mind the visit with jD friends and the rest of the time I closed my eyes and listened to the concert in my mind…it was so wonderful…
I said to my husband…”We flew all of one day…watched an eighteen year old sing for awhile and then flew home again the next day, are we crazy??? ” His answer…”No, because in time you will be flying yet again for another day and watching a 19 year old sing and then fly home the next day”…he knows doesn’t he?
I can’t verbalize yet the enormous enjoyment of being there with friends and seeing David…but the consensus is that a light shone on him on the stage last night unlike a light that could shine on anyone else…his smile was constant, his eyes simply sparkled…he was handsome beyond any words that I can find…he simply took your breath away…I watched my husband to see his reaction to David singing and he had a permanent smile…everyone stood…everyone rocked the night away…
To use awestruck’s stage name…I was awestruck…
