Sunday, I Went to the Symphony

Sunday, I went to the symphony — the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, to be precise. The program included works by Smetana, Beethoven, and Dvorak.
The symphony soothes my soul. The perfection of the music gets into my mind and rattles around, pushing out all thoughts but the thoughts of the music. It offers 80 minutes of priceless, uninterrupted, tranquilizing therapy. Well, that’s the way it used to be, before I knew David.
Now I live knowing David, and I am amused to report that as I sat there and allowed the music to enter my mind and start the therapeutic rattling and pushing, one thought did interrupt: “Boy, would I love to hear David Archuleta sing with them.”
Not the whole time, mind you. I still got my mind-calming money’s worth, but I did have the thought more than once. I even pondered it briefly during the intermission. I asked myself: “Is this really where I would like to see him end up? Those dumpy bar concerts sure were energizing and he has a lot to offer in that venue.”
But the fantasy remains. I would love to hear David Archuleta sing with a symphony. It wouldn’t really matter to me what he sang. We all know he can sing anything.
I read that, next Saturday, the program is “Swingin’ with Sinatra and Dorsey.” Hey, those songs have lyrics, someone could sing along. Not David I know, but it gives food for thought.
Maybe, someday in the future, David can accompany the NJSO in a program entitled, “The Essential Archuleta.” A girl can dream can’t she?
Now that we have gotten a glimpse of the potential of David Archuleta the performer, I thought it would be fun to share where each of us would like to see him in say 5, 10, or 20 years…. Be good.
~happy
P.S. On my way out, I made eye contact with a woman who had to be 90. OK maybe 79, but not a day younger. She was with three friends. She said to me, “Did you know he is only 29 years old?”
“Who?” I asked.
“But he is married,” she added, “he had a ring on, honey.”
“Who?”
“The conductor.”
“Really, only 29?” I said. “He was amazing.”
“He was more than amazing honey, and he was so cute!” she said to me with a bright smile.
“He was so little,” her friend added, “and so young … but he was powerful.”
“You know girls,” the third friend chimed in, “good things come in small packages.”
The four friends giggled and smiled and continued to swoon as I walked away.
Women of all ages, we love our musicians. Some things never change.

happy! ~ Thanks for making me smile before I go to sleep. I too have thoughts & make lists of songs I think David would sing so so effortlessly. I’ve got him “Under My Skin” & it’s “Night and Day” too. I think he would do real justice to “Comin Home” by Mel Torme. Yes? Well, anyway Happy, thank you!
Happy, thank you for the “happy” post! I’m about to drop off to bed but had to reply. I can see myself at 79 acting just like those women. When my daughter pokes fun at my ODD, I tell her that I’ve always loved music and that one’s personality doesn’t change just because they get older. You still have the same interests, likes and dislikes at 50, more or less, that you had at 19. I tell her to wait and see what I mean. At 19 I was going to Madison Square Garden to see Elton John, to Westbury Music Fair in Long Island to see George Carlin, and to Jones Beach Theater to see Chicago.
I dream of the day when I could see David at a huge arena, so proud that he could fill it with 20,000 fans, all his own. But eventually I expect that David will write the scores for movies and Broadway plays. I know he has it in him; it’s only a matter of time.
Back on a PC. Am I here?
Looks as if I am good to go..
Ha, another lovely post! Don’t you just love it that we can call out as it is, when we see young, cute, and talented, musicians? Thanks Happy. Thank goodness for jD.
I discovered what a wonderful invention the headphones were not long ago! I used to have to wait for everyone gone to bed before I could turn on the volume on my laptop, softly, and listen to David on youtube. Then one day my lovely daughter showed me that I could plug the earbuds for my ipod to the computer! Now I can watch youtube duing the day. It is still very late for me, usually, since I have to wait till my kids are done with their homework. Why do the schools give so much homework? Don’t they know the moms have to read blogs and watch youtubes about David Archuleta? JK. I am so happy to know that there is a “hubby in the room headphone time club” out there. LOL
I always felt a little bad for Cook. He is young, quite cute, and can sing. But when being next to David, suddenly he is not young, he is not cute enough, and just can’t sing. This can be really frustrating. I also felt that when at the Teen Choice Award show, David said that he wanted David to be his name, and Cook said he would choose another name (Bocephus?), Cook was ceding something important to David… maybe the invisible crown?
Now don’t tell me that David is going to go before Cook at Manila, effectively opening for Cook. I remembered that at the Tulsa Show, David already said that he was opening for Cook for one last time…
Sorry Mollie, didn’t get it. Not that one.
Good Morning All!
Happy -- great post!
Peruu -- I’m in agreement with you. Why does Cook always have to hitch his star to David’s? I’m sure more than likely -- David will be “opening” for Cook. Its almost as if they ARE joined at the hip and are co-winners -- after all, David won the competition fair and square, but Cook got the title.
In the history of Idol has any runner-up ever been asked to make appearance after appearamce with the winner? I don’t think so. As much as Rueben and Clay did, as far as I know they never did anything together like this. Kelly and Justin? Well the aftermath speaks for itself.
Despite my unhappiness at this pairing -- David always seem to relish doing things with Cook -- and his contentment is enough for me at this point.
I’ll concede it was unfortunate for Cook to be on Season 7, but here’s food for thought, would anyone have held a candle to David? Last year was filled with some very talented folk, but the comparision… well what needs to be said?
Onto happy.. where would I like to see David 5,10,15,20 years from now? To be perfectly honest happy, David has be so swept up in his NOW, it’s difficult for dream ahead (at least for me).
David is so mulitdimensional, I don’t know how to narrow it down to where I’d like to see him.
I’d love to hear him sing In This Moment will a full orchestra. I’d also love to just hear him and his piano. I’d also love to attend another mosh with David and the band lighting up the stage. I’d also like David Archuleta to be a household name everyone has at least heard of.
So really, I don’t know WHERE I’d like to see him.. but I can promise you I’ll SEE him.
Unchartered waters, “getting David” .. means we accept HE doesn’t know where he wants to be..or what he wants to do, but he can trust, we’ll be doing whatever we can to support him
Great post happy!
Update : My resistant fan is making progress. She asked for a CD of David’s songs. I made her on of his reg CD and added the bonus songs plus Crazy ( she said she loved the original). She like Altnoy a lot and is warming to a few more. Yesterday I gave her a cd with a clean ( no screaming) ZG. I told her to play it 5x before making a decision. LOL She called and said he liked that one a lot. I told her there is one more “Save the Day” so she handed me a blank cd and said “Can I get that one too?” haha I knew she was going to like David’s music once she opened her ears and heart a little. Once the tour is over I plan to make a TOUR CD with the best performances ( less screaming), then she will understand that the Jive CD pales compared to what David can really do on his own.

Good morning everyone! Happy, this post put a smile on my face. In 10 years (and maybe not even), I would love to see David performing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir during one of their really inspirational, jam-packed Christmas concerts. I watch them regularly on PBS during the Christmas season. I especially like the one they did with Audra McDonald.
As for the 79 year old woman noticing the 29 year old, she’s still living! And if you’re not dead, you’re going to notice your cute, hot, talented musicians. That’s why we’re alive, right?
I wish someone would tell that to some younger, judgmental folks over at a certain blog (*cough* MJ’s *cough*) this fundamental fact since some people still can’t wrap their minds around the idea that one can admire the beauty of David Archuleta when one is older than 18. *rolls eyes*
Anyway, I think genuine musicians transcend musical genres, especially a vocalist as gifted as David. Why would we expect music artists to only be gifted in one genre (like pop) and not another (like jazz)?
I remember once hanging out with some friends when I was in New York one weekend and was just stunned to discover Nora Jones, who sings adult contemporary jazz ballads, rocking it out with a grunge, punk band. Apparently, according to a musician friend of mine in Brooklyn, Nora’s all about the punk scene, but her Blue Note label thought she’d be more commercially viable doing the music she’s known for.
I think I’ve always liked knowing that, left on his own, David would soak up any and all kinds of music, eventually emerging with his own voice and style and winding up somewhere in some symphony hall as the great artist we know he’s capable of becoming.
Good morning happy and company…I have been trying to put the pieces together of the jigsaw puzzle about ourselves and our ongoing admiration of David and his music…I had a few more pieces to find and complete this beautiful puzzle…Your symphony story and “the comments by the ladies at the symphony” I believe finished the puzzle…well…maybe one more piece is missing and by midnight of the 27th I expect to have found it…
The latest piece to the puzzle: It doesn’t matter how old a lady can be, her heart and mind still enjoy the sight of a handsome man always remembering the features of someone inspirational. A handsome man performing beautiful music touches the heart and soul…There is hardly anything left to wonder about…
Thanks happy that was fun reading…
We can dream, Happy. I crave to hear David in a venue like the one in the pic, and with a symphony? That would be sublime. There is something wonderful about him in the gritty bars with the moshing fans, the energy and looove.I think that is what is also amazing about David… He could do both!
I’d like to see David in 5-10 years doing a combination of things he loves..
Producing his own music, having enough commercial success to do whatever he wants
bigger venue concerts, worldwide with a live CDs,
albums of his own, deeper reflective music,
more pop music, and pop success, raising the bar for other pop musicians
an album of him covering his faves
an album of spirital music, with some soulful gospel stuff
lol, doing a voice over and songs for a pixar movie
whatever else his musical brain comes up with (I’m sure he has better ideas than mine)
Happy, adore the story at the end, I can picture myself there in a few years (yikes)
David and Cook together, I think they respect each other. Cook could learn a few things from David, it may be good for him, haha
This might already be posted on the Tour page, but you can see the tears in David’s eyes at the end of this Angels from Idaho Falls:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jD7zy5zetws
Beautiful post Happy, as always.
In 5-10 years, I would like to see him fabulously wealthy and successful, of course. But I picture him sitting on his front porch working on his masterpiece. In the mountains somewhere. (I don’t know where that came from)! With the love of his life beside him. Laughing and intensly in love.
That voice with an orchestra backing him in his own music would probably do in thousands.
Marlie -- I saw that vid last night and dreamt about it already. Woke up to it. Can’t talk about it yet.
Off to work.
Happy, Enjoy reading your post!
Betsy 12:54 and Angelica 1:11: My family think I am addicted to Facebook too. haha. My family would sit two feet away in the same room on another computer and therefore I have become very adept at furtive clicking, though at times I have to quickly run out of room so that I can burst into laughers or tears… One of these days I will get busted!
Re David and Cook show in Manila- Can you imagine the 3-D fan war that would break out at the venue if it were in US?
Yes MARLIE -- all close-up vids of genevievewang are already in the Idaho page. There is NO WAY for us to miss them! A keeper for sure.
You know, whenever David sings Angels and SOT, he is somewhere else -- perhaps his special place that only geniuses of any form and type know? But the transportation is palpable. You can see it in his eyes. In his facial muscles..
I think he doesn’t even see the people around him nor hear the screams with these 2 songs.
With SOT it’s like he is serenading someone, inside. With Angels, he turns into one and sings their hymnal
And yes he will be loved, always!
Always a lift in the most unexpected places. From a long time friend (nearly 20 years) we keep in touch via email when something significant happens, and then we quick play catch up. In passing I told him I’d gone upstate to see David (we’re originally from upstate NY). This is his part of the email in response to my concert goings…
“I don’t watch American Idol, but I DID happen to have the TV on that channel the night that they were deciding the winner between him and Cook, while I was working on the computer… Based solely on seeing/hearing that one night, I thought that Archuleta should have won. He was BY FAR the better singer. ”
This was a nice acknowledgment .. since originally he’d emailed me to let me know he and his wife are expecting a baby girl in August.
Hey all! Why has “Save The Day” missed our thoughts? David is not singing it on tour, but it would be a star show wherever he might sing it.
A star show??? I was just excited.
I’m a little confused about the ASIA dates -
David is on tour from April 2 to April 12th.
Then, he goes to the U.K. So, he’s going to go BACK to ASIA on May 16th to be with David Cook?
Great post as usual Happy!!
When I first heard that there was going to be a Broadway revival of West Side Story, all I could think about was David performing in it as Tony…I know, that seems a little far-fetched, but David and Leonard Bernstein music! What a match!! Could it get any better than that??
Broadway music, the good ones, have always been my first love. I’m not talking about Andrew Lloyd Webber, his music was never my thing, but composers like Sondheim, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and of course, Leonard Bernstein, THAT was Broadway! (And no, I’m not old enough to remember the originals of any of those productions LOL), however, I grew up on this music and learned it all through my parents at a very young age.
Just the thought of David performing any type of music like this is almost too much to handle. I don’t think Broadway exclusively is the way to go for David’s future, but a short stint of it would be incredible!!
Happy, LOVE your post. There is something classical about David’s singing, whether it’s O Holy Night or Zero Gravity. I think it was SF who compared him to Mozart and I definitely see that combination of prodigious brilliance mixed with youthful playfulness.
And those ladies at the end, you go, girls! (I ain’t far behind, lol.)
JR4DA, “With SOT it’s like he is serenading someone, inside. With Angels, he turns into one and sings their hymnal.” How beautiful, yessss!
Ninaf, I don’t see David on Broadway either, but David singing a soulful version of “Tonight”? Oh yeah….
Radio interview with David -- Malaysia Radio station
Although it was posted today, not sure how recent it is, but he mentions the dance at his school ‘last week’. Hmmm.
He says that he usually waits to use the bathroom until fans disappear so they don’t talk to me while I’m using the bathroom.” LOL
Works for me!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EG17P9Ly0k
Hey anyone-- how come I can’t get into the mp3 & mp4 link on the Sayreville page?
Sorry. I left out an open quotation in that sentence.
Should be:
He says that he usually waits to use the bathroom until fans disappear “so they don’t talk to me while I’m using the bathroom.”
tawna21 at 1:06 I just tried and am having the same problem. I’m sure someone will come along shortly and help. “I just can’t figure it out.” Oh my, I can’t stop talking in Davidisms today.
happy..love your post. How many of us are salivating at the thought of seeing David singing with a full orchestra, with him sitting at a baby grand **sigh**. The wonderful thing is that David is young enough and has the talent to do that and anything else he wants in the future. Can we say that about any other young singer currently out there? I can’t think of any. David has proven without a doubt, he can sing just about any genre of music.
It’s hard to think of what David will be doing in 5 years. I just want to be here to experience whatever he’s doing. I want to see him in concert as many times as I possibly can, even if they’re in mosh pits along with the screams. (btw, I don’t think I screamed at all in Reno..I was so mesmerized by him). I just don’t care about the venues, small or large. I just want to see him as many times as I can for the rest of my life. He is so worth it! And someday it will be in a beautiful symphony hall like the one above if David wants it. I can wait patiently..
eeeee, just had to share this! Some of you may have noticed that on my good-deed blog (inspired by David, of course), I sneak in as many David videos, charities, random references as I can. I do so in the hope that some poor person whose life has been sadly devoid of David’s music (poor things) will discover him for the first time and, well, you know what happens next!
And eeee, it’s happened. A friend just told me, “I listened to your David guy.” My ears instantly perked up. She went on to explain that she usually reads my blog at work (where no sound or headphones are allowed) but last night at home, she finally got to watch one of those random videos (WFM with the soulful beginning, I think).
“Wow, he can really sing,” she said. Now this friend is an accomplished pianist and her husband is a professional musician, composer and arranger, so it meant a lot.
I kept my cool, even though I was doing internal backflips. “Ya,” I said. “His voice is incredible, you should hear him live.” It took every ounce of self-control to make only one, maybe two, more comments about his talent. But she definitely had “the look” of a fan-in-waiting… More random vids, here I come! (sorry this is so long, just had to share!)
Abrra ~ I just read what you are doing for your friend (making cd of Save the Day, Crazy etc. Can you help me download a whole ZG, Crazy, Waiting on Yesterday, Save the Day? I feel pretty foolish but I don’t know how to download the concert songs or it seems, anything else. I find I want to hear all of them live because the Jive cd is just too sterile. If you have the time & want to email me: mac318@hotmail.com
Thanks a bunch Abrra!
annmargaret -- hi… What was the fragrance you shared with me in Pomona? That was a life saver with so many people around me.
I knew something like this would happen as soon as David’s name was used to promote other performers (see article below). In 5 yrs, I’d like to see David situated such that decisions re. his career have positioned him where he wants to be.
‘Idol’ star David Archuleta a no-show

Hi all,
I regret that I have very little time to comment today, but I did want to thank you all for the kind words and for sharing your thoughts on the subject. It was fun to read them. I look forward to reading more when I get back. Thanks.
That’s what is so exciting with TheVOICE. It is such multi-faceted instrument. It can go Broadway, classical, pop, R&B, country, standards, gospel, even rap or free style! And for each style, acquires the suitable nuances and inflections.
That is something that you cannot say about another inspiring artist -- Josh Groban. When Josh sings in a different genre, his classical “accent” always comes out. Which is not a bad thing by itself. Just limiting and somewhat predictable. David, not!
David can bend, stretch, soften, intensify or power up his voice to serve the melodic requirement of a piece, yet retain that silky smooth quality that is uniquely his and his alone.
WHY SAYING “SALAMAT PO” IS SUCH A COUP!
I am really impressed with David’s communication skills in that 15-second pitch on his Manila visit. In mere seconds, he managed to inform and enjoin listeners. But what is remarkable was successfully addinglocal color to the pitch by saying “Salamat po! -- two Filipino words with such emotional and cultural import.
Expressing gratitude (SALAMAT or Thank you in English) is universally appealing & sufficient by itself. But adding “PO” to this basic gesture deepens the message. “PO” denotes respect esp useful when talking to someone older, senior or authority figures. Very DAVID.
That he even bothered to learn those words in a 15-seconder underscores his specialty in connecting with his audience. Oh! did I mention “salamat po” never sounded so schmexy till he said it here? LOL
David Archuleta, SALAMAT PO!
desertrat at 3:53 -- thanks but that’s why I checked some other sites and found the schedule from 4/8 -- 4/12 because I thought it was weird that FOD had only one date on their site. I just thought it was weird that he was flying back to ASIA on May 16th after the U.K. tour.
desertrat, I commented and asked them to remove the article.
David was NOT a no show, he never committed to being there, and it was made perfectly clear that he MAY not make an appearance.
who in their right mind would expect to pay $15 for an aftershow party with the expectation to party with David..after he just got down being on stage ?
man oh man this stuff gets my dander up.
how dare they make it look like a negative spin on David..who does nothing but go OUT of his way for his fans.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I can’t email from work, can someone send this article to snarkies and FOD.
I hope no one is confused about what I said since I am one of David’s biggest fans. I simply thought it seemed odd that he’d go BACK to Asia in May after being there in April. THAT’S all. I am truly connected to David, love him, and will be his fan for life.
JR4DA, “When Josh sings in a different genre, his classical ‘accent’ always comes out.” You’re right, David, can switch so effortlessly between soul to pop to Latin … anything… and instantly get into the groove of each genre completely, and still retain “his” sound. Amazing. How does he do that?
And thanks for the SALAMAT PO info. Cool!
BTW, some POCATELLO vids are already available at the Tour Page
DAVID after singing Como La Flor at Pocatello:
“Any latinos here tonight?!”
Mot much cheering so then he said
“well, my Mom’s Latino and she’s out there, Mom that was for you.”</i?

PABUCKIE, the original sked for David Asian Tour was Apr2-4 Manila; Apr6-8 Singapore; Apr 9-10 Malaysia. They were intended to be promotional tour only so the band wasn’t going with him. It is much like Meet&Greets, radio station guestings and a couple of private performances.
The Singapore & Malaysia dates were confirmed by Sony BMG SG & MY. Only the Manila sked was not confirmed by Sony BMG Phils. because a concert producer here was still negotiating with the 2 Davids for a back-to-back concert.
As confirmed by Mike from RAPTURE’s recap of the Idaho concert, David goes solo to Asia for the SG & MY promo tour, then w/ the band for UK Tour from Apr to May; then with the band again for Manila right after his UK Tour. My conclusion was that the negotiation with the 2 Davids were finalized just recently.
We now have the vids of the 2 Davids confirming a May 16 concert in Manila Philippes.
Get this: heard that the VIP seats (which am sure will be occupied by celebrities) would cost anywhere from 10K to 20K pesos. That’s about 200-400US$. OUCH but I may have to bite the bullet!
Fans from Sydney, Singapore, Malaysia, HK & Japan will be flying in. Which should be a blast except that I don;t relish the thought of sharing the place with some cookies…. there is animosity here among the fans… aaahhhhhh! the grass is green, the ocean blue; the grass is green, the ocean blue….inhale, exhale…
Gotta go to work now!
Thanks JackRyan4da. I knew about the promo stuff just confused about him going back in May. Thanks for clearing that up. As I’ve said before I am a huge fan of David’s since BEFORE american idol -- I loved him on STAR SEARCH so I never want to feel like I’m somehow lumped in to any NEGATIVE comment about him. I’ve been “ON BOARD” with David from the beginning and will be a fan forever. He is simply amazing and the most talented performer I have ever seen in my entire LIFETIME. The love and respect I have for him and the connection I have with him is….well, there are no words really except he is the most touching and beautiful human being I’ve ever known.
By the way, all the videos on the Pocatello page say Private and can’t view them.
Well…it is quiet here tonight..people are tired out from touring with David and all else that there is to do I would imagine…We are preparing here to be able to leave on Thursday…I wish that all jDers could go and we would have our own get together…I really don’t like leaving people at home who want to go but hopefully everyone will have a chance to see him during his next tour…and the next time around we will plan on a jD party…New York would be nice…
Happy,
Great post. We all have great expectations for David and with good reason. He exceeds. He has gone from success to success and is only getting started. I loved it on AI when he came walking out to sing Apologize with One Republic to the orchestra. Also, seeing that video of Robbie Williams with that huge orchestra made me think, that should be David there and will be one day. So I guess, what I want for him in 5, 10, or 20 years is that he will be singing the kind of music he wants to sing, and that will be the kind that we will all enjoy most. When David totally surrenders to the music, there is just nothing like it, especially when he is singing one of his “babies” that he wrote himself. And yes, with an entire orchestra to back him up. What an other worldly experience that would be! Can one perish of sheer ecstasy? What a way to go. With an orchestra backing him he could sing my soul right out of my body and it would just float away. When the lights came up, I would have blissfully passed on with a contented smile on my face. But I hope it won’t happen for a long, long, time because I want to enjoy the voice for many more years. Maybe when I’m 90. BTW, about those lovely, seasoned ladies you met, I hope I never grow too old and priggish to fail to appreciate a beautiful man when I see him. A woman is a woman all her life.
tawna21: I don’t know what happened to the link for those mediafire files, but I went and retrieved it and fixed the Sayreville page. Probably sometime I was in a hurry and messed it up
You’ll see the link at the top of that page now and it takes you to the pages where all the Sayreville downloads are located.
desertrat @ 3:53-- OMGosh! that article had my blood boiling (along with several others it appears)and I actually responded back. I never do things like that! What has happened to me?! Go Defense! Fight!Fight!Fight!
Thanks marlie7 for fixing the Sayreville link-- muchly apprecitated. When I clicked into the option on the right to rip audio from YouTube I got th message that Internet Explorer wouldn’t support this. Do I need to be in Firefox?
After listening to the mp3 of the Reno WFM for the umpteenth time, can NOT get enough, did anyone else notice after he introduces the song talking about how spacy and confused he is, but that “it’s worked out for me”, he turns around kindof toward the band and it sounds like he says “that was horrible.” He is too much!
tawna21 March 24, 2009 at 8:58 pm
You may need to check your IE and see if you have the latest version. I updated mine 2 weeks ago to IE7 , I use Firefox 3.0 and like it better. It pays to have both available when things like that happen.

How dare they say bad things about our David.

there’s too many of us to get through before we’d let them tear David down.
to be honest, I haven’t heard Reno WFM yet.. I’m saving it for a special occasion.
That may be later tonight before I go to bed.. just to keep my blood pressure down.

tawna21 @ 8:32,
The article upset me too. I found the link via twitter which led to Vote for the Worst (ugh!). When I first read the advertisement on FOD, I knew that some people would be confused. I can’t imagine the Archuletas or the Osmonds intentionally deceiving people. There must have been a misunderstanding btwn the sponsor and the Osmond’s mgt.

About that article of David being a no show. I read about those after parties days ago on another site from people who had bought tickets and were planning to attend. None of them thought it was a given that David would be there, only a very faint, remote hope. Where does it say here that David would be appearing???
http://www.davidosmond.com/blog/2009/03/16/david-osmond-to-appear-in-david-archuleta-after-the-show-events/
That article about David being a “no show” was wrong on so many levels, it’s pathetic! Expecting David to take the spotlight off his brother at the AP’s is plain ridiculous. Not that David wouldn’t love to see his brother perform, but come on..David is very sensitive when it comes to his family. He just would not upstage his brother. In fact, David may not show up at the SLC after party either, even though FOD says he probably will. I won’t hold my breath..but if he does, it may be a quick in & out kinda thing. We fans just shouldn’t go to David’s concerts expecting to meet him..then if you do, it’s un-buh-lee-va-bul!!
Good night everyone! For David..
Dear Lord, Though we are unworthy to ask,
Please take care of David. Watch over him, Protect him from all harm. Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path. Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give. Surround David with loving and supportive people who love him UNCONDITIONALLY as we, his Archangels do. Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being. Give him rest when he’s weary. Give him stamina to sustain his hectic pace. Give him assurance when he feels doubt. Give him joy when he feels sad. Cloak him always in your protective arms during this time on his journey. Keep David and HIS VOICE healthy & strong as he fulfills his Destiny which was written in his Book of Life before he was born.
Though we may be unworthy, we humbly pray.
Amen.
David, sweet dreams. Be safe & secure in our love always! Contigo siempre con amor!
Abrra.. give me a few minutes… crisis here
Dangerously groovelicious (not sideways) WFM Reno:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geKSooqGzQU
(watch sideways version if you can’t keep standing after first 25 seconds.)
(does come in handy. heh)
That article was so mean toward David. It sounds like some miscommunication happened. I was under the impression that there were no promises that David would appear, and wouldn’t expect him to given how they have clamped down access. I would not be surprise if he did not attend the SLC party either. Also, I think they got the tour manager’s name wrong. Isn’t it Ray?
beebee,
Thank you for that upright Reno WFM. Seems like he gets into that soulful groove as easily as he breathes. This is where he needs to take his music IMO. Just making it up as he goes along, feeling it deep down and not even thinking about it. Don’t think about it, don’t think about it. Now I’m doing it too. lol.
Angelica, you KNOW I am not gonna argue with THAT sentiment! lol. For me, it’s not that I prefer the soul-man David over everything else (bcz I seriously love everything he does), but that I always fear the soul man will be downplayed and not fully recognized and LOOOOOOOOOOOVED like he deserves. He is just a soulful genius IMO. SO exquisitely talented in that area. And I just want him to regularly blow everybody to s.m.i.t.h.e.r.e.e.n.s with freestyle slow and bluesy, git down now, knee-buckling soulfulness. (Am I so wRong?) (Can we blame me?) (No we cannot.lol)
beebee, wow, can’t stop watching that one and rewinding to the beginning, LOL! I think that’s the vid my friend saw (see my novella post above) and when I mentioned David was 18, she was shocked.
Just watching it again now (
) I realize it’s because he doesn’t talk in the video, only sing, so she thought he was in his 20s. I almost wished I hadn’t told her his age, cause people seem to get so hung up on that.
And Happy, re your question about where we’d like to see David’s career in 5, 10, etc. years. I can’t even hazard a guess, because every time I try to make any predictions, David pulls another surprise out of his hat, and surpasses any and all expectations.
I just hope when I’m creaking along like those ladies in your post, someone overhears me saying those same things as I leave one of David’s concerts with a twinkle in my eye and a spring in my orthopaedic shoes, LOL.
TOfan — I do think hoodies make him look more child-like than he should/needs to look (I don’t know why they do, but they do. To me, anyway)(ruh-roh, wardrobe anaysis brewing…)
I am PUH-RAYing that he does the Groovelicious WFM rendition once more on tour (guess that would hafta be tonite or SLC)and in a different get up sans hoodie. (Vest and Tee? Yeah, that’s the ticket.)
(And that DJBELL is there FRONT ROW, slightly to the left. lol)
Not gonna lie, that WFM intro is literally a threat to my health. (in a GOOD way)
speaking of which, he’s performing wfm even as I type. (listening to cellcast)
Hi all.. haven’t been able to read or post today but cking inn before bedtime. Loved the post, Happy… always a pleasure to read anything you write. I’m really anxious to hear the feedback on St George..he’s in his homeland now.
I did have a long phone chat with DJXOXO tonite.. we miss traveling to concerts together but at least we can compare David notes to make sure we’re not missing anything. Both of us twisting in the wind because we won’t be in SLC. I guess in spirit will have to do this time.
beebee 10:56 “Not gonna lie, that WFM intro is literally a threat to my health. (in a GOOD way)” I’m with ‘ya. Between this vid and almost any of the “One” covers I’m toast thru them.
Hey! a good thing just happened! My hubby “caught” me watching WFM and stopped by--I restarted to the beginning and he watched it--commented on how he does have a good voice. I can understand how he doesn’t necessarily get into how good looking David is, but he is admitting to the VOICE.
Puh-leeze let it be a vest and a tee in SLC and no cell phone in the jeans pocket
Uhmmm yeah--the bold didn’t turn off when it should have--what can I say (shout?).
ONE is L..E..T..H..A..L
lol those tags are *picky*… one errant space or tag typo and *pfft!*
ooh Tawna.. I have one of those stories too !! I forgot until you just posted it.
Trying to put together a DVD to bring to my sister this weekend.. and one of the ZG stacked started rolling in the preview.. hubby stopped and actually said “that’s zero gravity right?”
and mind you… I’m of the earphone group.. unless I’m on the laptop in another room (the laptop I bought soley FOR this purpose) between charities and technical investments, David is going to have me bankrupt within a year.
tawna that’s very encouraging news re: the hubby.
I tbink what’s always in his pocket is related to that ear thingie he wears (i.e., I think he hasta have it on him, therefore in his pocket.) (Unless he’d like to wear it as a necklace…lol)
beebee 10:56 ~sigh..Sorry I won’t be in my “spot” in SLC..LOVE that SPOT..!! and nobody is sadder than I am about that…I will have to relive Sayreville and Northampton thru my vids..Not sure if that will help or just make it worse though..lol..not really laughing but I am trying..
awwww dj… {{{hug}}}}
now why was it we FAILED to hold a bake sale to send you to all the concerts with tickets for *the spot* and your trusty vid camera again?? Dang.
I vow to be back in my David *SPOT* again…start baking..lol..where is my “happy” baking friend when I need her..??
and beebee~~thanks for the {{hug}} I really needed that~~
Happy -- Now that we have gotten a glimpse of the potential of David Archuleta the performer, I thought it would be fun to share where each of us would like to see him in say 5, 10, or 20 years…. Be good….Good post.
I’m taking it a day at a time….I just want to be around to witness his growth for a very long time. That WFM is a killer, aside from that soulful start, his whole body movements are like musical notes… I hope to see him do more of this soon.
Angelica -- A woman is a woman all her life… I love this! We know when we see a gorgeous looking guy at any age.
bebreader -- So you discovered Duluth, eh? LOL….
Oh yeah…lol.
Wardrobe — tee with vest, preferable a fitted tee, green.
dj, y’know, it’s funny. That WFM IS wicked-soulful and the slower tempo all the way through and I can clearly feel that when I listen only (no visuals). I think I just want him to STAND THERE (and abuse the mic stand if he must…lol) and not run around the stage and just deliver that soulful groovitude sans the archu_run_around. lol (maybe a nice SPOT light. yeah, baby)
(And I remember telling Bliss that I am not distracted by the visuals when listening to the singing on vids — that I get them both full force. WELL..pfft. I was wrong on that one. I am such a nincompoop.)
Oh yes djafan-- the wardrobe room is thinkin’ hot tonight! I always thought it was the remote thingy for his earpiece that was in his pocket, but then one time I noticed it was in his back pocket and then SF commented on it being his cellphone. I’ll go with the earpiece thingy.
djxox or anyone--I can get the mp4 files to download onto my screen, but I CANNOT figure out how to save them to my documents video folder. If I click the file tab at the top and save or save as, it just gives be stuff about quicktime and buying it. I got a few to save awhile back, but can’t figure out how I did it--I know, I know, good job. HELP!
One more thing--which DLG is it that keeps us all topsy turvy--the one where David really seems to go into another zone? I want to download that one if someone can help me figure out what I did before.
tawna, I’m not sure I can help you because I’m on a mac and I use Firefox as my browser along with a free Firefox add-on called Download Helper which makes it ridiculously easy to download and save vids (and pretty much anything else). Both of those things are free at Mozilla.org. and are available for PC’s, too. And Firefox is an excellent browser. I’m afraid that’s all I can offer you. :/
tawna~ my DLG ~Sayreville is the HOTTIE !!
beebee,
I think the thing connected to his thingy is worn in his back pocket. I’ve seen him several times reaching for his hip to adjust it. I saw Lesley do that too in Beaumont. I do buh-leeve the thing in the front pocket of his jeans IS his cell phone which has always cracked me up. Like he can’t give it to his Dad or Ray or someone he trusts. Even on AI it was there on every performance. I mean like he has to have it when he performs before thousands cause heaven forbid someone should call him and he miss it. Like he may have to stop the performance and have the audience wait while he takes this call. lol.
*running to “chez djbell”…*
I meant connected to his EAR thingy.
tawna~ when you download the vid what file are you saving it to? You should have to choose before it downloads…If you have it downlowaded to your desktop try to copy and past to your video folder..
downlowaded??…downloaded
oh jeez..try to paste it..
Apologies for all the current and future typos….I am tired
Angelica 12:12 am
“…..Even on AI it was there on every performance. I mean like he has to have it when he performs before thousands cause heaven forbid someone should call him and he miss it. Like he may have to stop the performance and have the audience wait while he takes this call. lol”
Typical teenager for you!
My daughter sleeps with her cell phone in her bed. Heaven forbid she misses a call from a friend in the middle of the night! It’s so ridiculous but that’s how they are at this age. It takes the phrase “Never leave home without it” to new extremes.
well, after he lost his cell phone… I guess he’d have it surgically attached now if he could. (That had to be a bummer.)
FOD has posted a pic from St. George. Brown shirt with brown tie. Heard singing SBM in the warm up so maybe in the show? Hmmmm. I so love what he does with that song. And the way he walks in that performance! Who walks like that?
Angelica -- read over at snarkies that their cellcaster heard SBM in the warmup as well. But they used the same setlist during the concert as usual.
Maybe he’s practicing for SLC.
THAT WALK
Or that Apologize walk from AI.
tawna21 -- I really liked what his outfit in Pomona… but I’d take the vest and tee over that…cell phone and all…
dj -- tawna~ my DLG ~Sayreville is the HOTTIE !!
That is the best DLG to date IMO… keep something cool while watching…lol.
Abrra -- Once I make one all I care is postage reimbursement. I am not in the music business ! LOL
Well I’ll wait patiently…good things come to those wait…
blue plaid shirt, dark jeans and chucks.”
Tonight.
djxox--if I click save to files it saves it to a file tab up on the top of the page. That’s the only option for saving that it gives me other that facebook, and some others right there. If I click download on the left, it will download the vid and bring it up in a few minutes to my screen, then if I click file on that window (the video) it gives me a bunch of options but they all relate to having quicktime 7, which I have on my computer, but it’s not working with this whole deal. I can make the sendspace links work just fine, and I actually do have your Sayreville DLG that was done with mediafire--that was one of those that somehow happened. I remember I had to download it then go out of it and then it brought up a save window like download now, later, or with I think VLC, but I can’t get that to happen any more. I’ll just keep working at it, but not tonight. I’m about to hit my head on the keyboard so I better hit it on the pillow. Thanks
Must go check out SBM walk once again.
bebereader -- I’ll join you…
tawns~hmmm~~you are getting different popups and screens than I do..are you on a PC or Mac?..My download options(save to file) are on the bottom of my page so I am not sure what you get as options up top. I usually “X” out any quicktime pop ups since I have updates on automatic download…If you right click on the vid on your screen are there any options to: send to..or open with..You could try one of those options to move it from your desktop to a specific folder..I hope I am not confusing you. It is hard to figure out when you can’t see your screens. You could also try downloading it again..maybe??….Good luck…
I bet you guys are right. I bet he’s gonna do SBM in SLC! Yep!
oh there I go again I just renamed tawna..tawns..??
he is gonna CRYYYY…omg….
Just came back from SBM. Sigh.
Beebee 1:19 Ya think?
I’d rather he do WYSYLM! I’d die.
I never saw him sing that live before.
As if we have any say in this.
It’s nice to dream.
good night all ~Sweet Dreams~
dj- he is gonna CRYYYY…omg….
I just watched SBM and WYSYLM from SLC… he’s going to cryyyyy!!!!
Why didn’t I plan to gooooo????
Armchair and headphone peeps… are you ready for Friday?
nitey nite dj
bebe, I wouldn’t be surprised if he did. I mean, you know, because he wants to thank his homies for standing by him.
djafan~so did I…wow..there better be good videos of the entire concert…Stock up on the Kleenex!
djafan..I just checked and there are tix available ..lol
dj… to late to convince the people that pay my salary on such short notice.
My kleenox is ready…
Good evening everyone! Hi beebee!! I have sooo much to catch up on, so many vids to watch and save, but I just saw the Reno WFM. Oh my!!! the intro! It is so awesome. I hope he does more of that. And beebee, do I remember correctly that the other day you mentioned Archie Bell & The Drells?? I have so little time to read all the comments these days but thought I saw that. Do you know “Tighten Up” by any chance? I know you love R&B and sould music and so do I! Big time.
I really wanted to write a thoughtful review of the IF and Boise shows that I got to see (just for you beebee
) but I don’t know what it is, I’m no good at it plus the lack of time thing. Everyone else, rapture in particular, gave a great Boise review already. All I can say is I am having difficulty processing it all. It feels completely unreal that David was really singing in front of me and that it was not youTube. In IF, my elbows were resting on the edge of the stage and David’s keyboard was a mere foot or so away from me. When he sat down to play, I could have touched his feet without even stretching (I didn’t because that would be stalkerish!). It was just unreal. I gazed up at his angelic face. His voice was as beautiful as ever.
Then at Boise, I chikened out at moshing not knowing if I could get myself to the rail so I opted to watch from the balcony which was different but great too because it really felt like a private concert. No one to bump into me, sitting on my stool with a table and a drink. It was absolutely amazing to see the audience from up above during Zero Gravity. The place was packed from wall to wall, probably illegal because all aisles were filled with people. As David jumped, all the people were jumping up and down, with arms raised above their heads, it was wild. The crowd was loud and so pumped.
I’m ending this here so I can post. Gotta go tend to other things now, one of which is downloading a few more vids.
Off to dreamland….
Beebee 1:30 I like your logic! Besides that, you’re so smart!
djxox….nite nite
djafan 1:37…ready!
vermeer 1:52 Loved your reviews! Everyone’s review has something a little different in it, which helps to fill in all the details. Take all the time you need to process the shows and let us know more details as you remember them, please.
Nite all!
I see another new post. >>>>>>>
Can’t wait to read it tomorrow!
{{{vermeeeeeer}}}
I really DO understand about not being able to do a write-up. I am still unable to articulate just what *happened* (to ME!)at the Sacramento Jingle Thingy. Still in stunned bunny mode!
You’re gonna be in Archu_stupor for a LONG TIME!!
I think you should just process for as long as you want. And then one day you’ll want to sit down and just start writing what you feel about it. Worth waiting! (No matter how long!) Just the little bit you relayed is pretty dang wonderful. “I gazed up at his angelic face. His voice was as beautiful as ever.”
I just can’t believe you and Liz were so close!
And yes, I DID mention Archie Bell and the Drells! lol. That’s such a hoot that you remember them. {{hug}} It wasn’t “Tighten Up” I was referring to, though, it was that one line in “I Just Can’t Stop Dancin’” that goes (and I do love this…lol) “Sho nuff groovin’ now, ya’ll, look at me.”
Happy vid hunting!
Thanks bebereader. It’s funny I took pictures of David’s sneakers when he was at the keyboard. They were so very close! I’m sending the pic to TOfan, the shoe lover, haha!
Looks like I just missed the other beebee.
Well, good night lovely ladies, whoever who’s still up. I’ll write some more if I’m able to process it all. I am still in a daze.
beebee!!! Glad you saw my little recap. I have to go find “I Just Can’t Stop Dancin’” and listen to it. “Tighten Up” is the only one I happen to know of by Archie Bell & The Drells. I lurve that tune. Heard it in high school when I was just a little “fresh off the boat” immigrant. I just loved anything with a groove and a cool beat, still do, so love love love Zero Gravity. I love David Archuleta!!!
Ok, gotta calm down and go to bed. G’nite beebee.
jr4da 9:35 ~ With SOT it’s like he is serenading someone, inside. With Angels, he turns into one and sings their hymnal. Just beautiful!
refnaf 8:31 ~ I agree with you. I also think our world & the humans living in it will be in much better condition due to David’s good works. I realize the Mormon faith feels strongly about doing good works but I also think David seems to come by this naturally. His compassion is exceptional.
djafan 3:41 ~ hi! It was just great to meet you! The cologne I sprayed on you is called “Innocent Illusion” by Thierry Mugler. I feel it is my “seeing David live” scent. I wore it to the Idols on Tour & now to Pomona. I don’t wear it every day because I want it to keep reminding me of David! If you want to email me: mac318@hotmail.com & we can talk more.
{{{vermeer}}} nitey nite!
I have added a couple of Pocatello vids and you may be glad to know that the links are now working — not anymore private
Enjoy!
Zero Gravity is getting some buzz! A station David visited in Feb. (97.9 KISS Jacksonville) has put ZG up on their website.
