Thanks for this Crush MS reminder! I think it is fabulous that David is so involved with helping others. MS is a debilitating dreadful disease. It saddens my heart to know Brett has to endure this. Brett is indeed a trooper and if anyone has seen his interviews then you know what I am talking about. I believe David Osmond suffers from MS also. I have also heard it is more common in Utah which is interesting. It is a genetic trait so that would make sense. Blessing to those who endure this disease, They are strong!

Interesting about the stats of MS in Utah. The Amish community also has similar trends, where certain types of genetic diseases tend to be common with higher rates of inter-marriage within a community.

I know this concept is nothing new, but I wonder if David has ever been approached to do a few concerts for charity? I’m talking about a full set like his solo concerts and the proceeds after necessary expenses going to say..MS or Invisible Children. I was just thinking, here we are willing to pay 195.00 for VIP tickets, some of us for more than one concert, why not a few concerts for his favorite charities. I know I would GLADLY donate $200.00 to see David in as many solo concerts as he is willing to do, especially for a good cause…it would really do ME good.

Think of the amount just his name alone raises…$2000.00 for a book bag? or $4500.00 to have dinner with him? The amount raised at a concert by David would be enormous I would think, considering what we are willing to pay for a VIP ticket.

I have no doubt David would easily agree to a concert for charity …it’s in his very loving and giving nature. Didn’t Jeff say David has always been that way? For example, when he would go around helping out the neighbors with no coaxing ever. Perhaps a charity concert is something David thinks about, too, and wishes it were sooner rather than later.

And then there are people like me who try to analyze every aspect of the situation to determine whether the glass is actually half empty or half full and in either case, is that satisfactory. If the glass is half full, maybe that’s all is needed or wanted. But if it is half empty, then what does it take to fill it up. I see no reason to settle for a half of glass of Merlot when I can have a full glass, but that’s me of course.

All of the first year that David has been on stage and in front of the tv cameras our expectations of more to come are running…oh I won’t say wild…but I will say are moving at a fast pace.

Are we rushing him with thoughts on what could be organized for charity? I see a time of rest and recovery, a time to be with family, a time to be with people who are not just watching him perform for one reason or the other. Can he just have a bit of a normal life conversation inter woven between all of this? I don’t know we are being a part of the rush and be busy way of life.

Could we put on some brakes here for a moment and I don’t know why I feel this way but for him to be grounded? People seem to want something from him constantly.

Maybe we can hope for “free time for him” to write more wonderful songs, as he has sung the ones he has all over the world just about now. David may want new songs derived from newly met people and new experiences…

I know that I would have a wonderful virtue if I had more patience but then is anyone being patient?

I’m not sure there is a way to slow David down. What perhaps seems exhausting to us, is definitely exhilarating to him. A very recent and good example was at the Portsmouth show, as reported on another fansite. David apparently eliminated the intros to TMH and ALTNOY so he could add a 7th song to the playlist and still keep within the allotted time. He just wants to sing and… and sing some more!

Just wanted to say thank you to Liz and to remind everyone that you don’t need to wait for a concert from David to donate that $200.00!! Yes, let’s give him a chance to breathe and just take that money or sell that extra VIP pass to someone who hasn’t had the chance to see David, and donate that money with no expectation of anything but a wristband in return. David has given us so much joy FOR FREE in all the YouTubes and interviews, etc., let’s pretend that donation is the cost to us of enjoying him. Just a thought! Then proudly show him the bracelet at the concerts this summer.

Goboywonder, yeah when you suggested the sheep defense, I told myself ….good idea. Especially with the swine flu virus…So being in the medical field it was a good valid reason for me…especially it was my innermost self doing the typing the comment and the thinking. Being infected with something you don’t have ANY CONTROL OF…protective equipment ( like mask..isolation) might protect you or lessen the risk, not me.

The first time, it worked brilliantly, because poor George Huff actually made a choice, and chose the wrong group. The next year, Bo Bice showed the only proper way to deal with being the sucker: stay at center stage and refuse to play the game. Melinda and now Young David followed that example I can’t remember what Taylor did in season five, but anyone who’s on the show has been watching the show, and they know this is coming. And that’s the way it is, Taylor has shaken Chris’s hand but joined the top group of Kellie, Kathryn, and Elliott. This show is such a joke. Kellie, after that horrendous performance, is still here, while Mandisa was gone after 1 mediocre night.

Chris and Ace are the bottom 2, and Paris is safe. If Chris goes home, I’m done. It should absolutely be Ace.

Vee #113 ~ you really had me wondering if that really WAS Melinda I was thinking of ~ though I thought SURE it was Taylor! But I think you’re right! Now that you mention the contestants in each group, I DO remember Taylor shaking Chris’ hand, and then going over to the other group, and I DID wonder at the time how Taylor knew that was the right group (since Chris was the “favored one”). I know Taylor really admired Elliott (and I did too ~ until David came along). (I’ve heard David say that Elliott was his favorite Idol in Season 5.)

Anyway, you’re right ~ and I apologize. I do feel so sorry for Taylor because everyone is always trying to put him down ~ so forgive me for jumping to his defense. He’s a very sweet guy and really exhibited a lot of talent and showmanship on Season 5. Not only that, but his record label didn’t “drop” him; it was a mutual agreement, and there was a lot more to it than most people know. But Taylor is successful in his own right, and very happy, like David, that he gets to sing and tour the country. He’s doing well for himself.

David is definitely my favorite Idol, but I can’t help but jump to Taylor’s defense every chance I get. Idol has not been very nice to him, and especially Simon ~ until this year. I have no idea what happened, but TPTB seem to be trying to “make amends” ~ though much damage has already been done.

Please excuse the long essay. I didn’t mean to go on and on. I rest my case.

Kipper , I luv Taylor too. I am not an Idol fan. Saw a few shows of season 3 then forgot about it. Then just saw by accident AI7 being promoted in cable FOXtel Australia. This time it was not months before the actual show but a few hours of delayed telecast. Then it was history for me. Through fan sites, you can read that Taylor wasn’t treated like the winner. I searched youtube for his videos. I found him to be charismatic, I like him better than Clay (sorry Clay fans).

Speaking of Adam -- I was shocked with amazement at his antics and used to think -what a bold performer!….until last show.

When I tuned in -- i thought to myself -- his shreiking is getting out of ocntrol and he is acting his performances but the judges love him right?

Then lo and behold, I think America is beginning to wake up from the stupor as he found himself in the bottom two this week. One entertainment critic called him a “one-trick pony” and his decision to place himself with what he perceived to be the safe singers, is also drawing criticism. His self-confidence knows no limits because he was praised to the heavens each week, and people (me included) was buying into it.

Is the honeymoon over for Adam Lambert? IDK, as TPTB are certainly continuing pimping him with lighting effects and positioning on performance night. I’m glad that Kris Allen is now giving him some competition. America is just beginning to “get” him as a competitor/singer.

That’s funny because I have noticed this for such a long time but have kept it to myself. I have an interesting thought though. My niece has been to Spain and she said there is an area in the Basque area where a certain small percent of people have this unique lisp. I’ve noticed David having it at times when he speaks and a few times when he sang but it literally is just for a second. David DOES have GREAT taste in music (for the most part) there’s been a few suggestions that I had to shake my head at.. but 98% of the time.. he leads me to something new and exciting.

David and I are like in the right church .. wrong pew.. he goes one way.. I go another..but it’s in the same vincinity. (these are metaphors<-- I hate having to make disclaimers.. lol)

For example… Adele.. love her.. we have different favorites..VERY different.. but we’re in that same arena.

Same thing with James Morrison.. who I love love.. I love him. I could listen to him all day too, but David leaves little room for anyone else. AFTER David.. it’s James.. love Broken Strings .. but I love One Last Chance.. oh and This Boy too. …and The Pieces Don’t Fit Anymore .. Geez. Too many.

When David talks about wanting to work with groups like The Script or about loving Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Adelle, etc..I just don’t get the impression he wants to be a pop star. He has NEVER said “oh I love the Jonas Bros, or I love Miley’s music”. And I can’t recall off hand any current pop song he’s suggested we listen to. He does love Natasha, but she’s better than the typical pop singer..she’s what David calls “serious pop”. And he loves Jordin..but more for herself, not necessarily for her songs, but he’d never say that.

I got flamed on another site by someone who insinuated that David needed to be “protected” from the McFly boys’ antics (apparently one of them joked that he was going to do “naked hand-stands”). I usually don’t go off on people online, but that really rubs me the wrong way when fans assume that David needs to be “protected” from the “bad” things of this world. I just can’t stand that holier-than-thou stuff.

Freo: That bugs me, too. David is a big boy. The people who need to be protected are one’s who are easily influenced -- David is not. He has his own set of strong values and can view others behavior without getting scarred for life. And, he is one of the most non-judgmental people I’ve seen. Snarky’s. I was probably asking for it from my post response, but that really rubs me the wrong way when fans comment about David needing to be “warned” or “protected” from “bad” things, like he can’t make his own decisions. Also, I think that kind of sentiment pressures him not to do anything that some fans won’t agree with, which I think is equally sad. I am sure he’s seen more on the road from other musicians that he will ever let on (I have wondered if he ever saw Brown and Rihanna argue, for example).

Well folks, this was my first cellcast. All things considered, it went fairly well from a sound broadcast standpoint.

David sounded like he was is good form and the crowd seemed to be going crazy. What impresses me the most is David’s stamina to belt out, heart and soul, one song after another…hardly any banter to catch one’s breath…I’m in awe.

Another thing…alluded to above (marlie7 #199 “two headliner acts for the price of one)…opening acts are to warmup the crowd, at best -- David and the Band sets them on fire. No disrespect, but McFly does not dare extend David’s time on stage lest he steals their thunder. David may be small in stature, but he is bigger than life. I hope there are some good videos forthcoming of today’s performances.

Way to go David…he apparently calmed his pre-concert nerves.

I’m googling James Morrison to see who he collaborated with on some of his music. The hint FOD gave was whoever David was working with also worked with Morrison..who I love! One name that comes up a lot is Ryan Tedder of One Republic, but would he be in the UK now? Maybe? He’s supposedly a VERY SOUGHT AFTER song writer and has written for several big artists. I guess we’ll have to wait to find out.

I will see David in Manchester on the 24th of August…I will have a complete set of my Challenge line for him…keeps you warm when it is cold like no other and soft and light as silk. I will take him a Nova Scotia tartan scarf…after all I haven’t given him anything with thanks for his music…and this is for his health!!

When my son played highly competitive hockey I watched for broken bones and dislocations, exhaustion and empty water bottles because I could see it before anyone especially because they were wrapped up in the game…I saw my sons injuries before his coach, a doctor, knew. So I just see burnout sometimes and everyone I know will say “don’t worry about that!!”…so I won’t I will say…but then I will.

So I will have to search out where Alaska came from…TDC is really the DFBI…

LuvieD…I will have to check out the ATM walls here for the endless supply…The timing is perfect for scarf giving. I love our Nova Scotia tartan with dark blues and greens…kind of away though from his beautiful greys and blacks etc, but it may remind him of Scotland…If my history serves me correctly, Nova Scotia is taken from New Scotland…I will have to go to the big city here and find an exclusive men’s shop to find what I am looking for but that is OK…gotta go and check out our history…

Dear Lord,
Please take care of David. Watch over him, protect him from all harm. Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path. Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give. Surround David with loving and supportive people who love him UNCONDITIONALLY as we, his Archangels do. Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being. Give him rest when he’s weary. Give him stamina to sustain his hectic pace. Give him assurance when he feels doubt. Give him joy when he feels sad. Cloak him always in your protective arms during this time on his journey. Keep David and HIS VOICE healthy & strong as he fulfills his Destiny which was written in his Book of Life before he was born.
Though we may be unworthy, Please Lord, give some of us, David’s unconditional forever fans, the wisdom to know when to say no as well, especially when we want so much to do right by David.
