Music Reborn

Spring is upon us.
Life. Death. Rebirth.
From the smallest cell to the largest star, the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth is repeated. The rising of the sun at dawn, the blazing heat of midday, the setting sun … everything must die to rise again.
This cycle is part of the continuous process of change; the ebb and flow of both the material and the spiritual world. Rebirth is recurrent in the teachings of the major religions, and in science, philosophy, mythology, nature … and music.
Many of us have experienced rebirth in our own lives, both with and without music. But many of us here are united in a large part due to a musical rebirth. The instrument? The voice of David Archuleta.
Through David’s music, some have been reborn to the joys and power of music. A power that soothes babies, satisfies passions, inspires armies; offers catharsis, triggers memories; rekindles loves, offers peace and joy; and improves the quality of our lives. Music has the power to draw us into the present or to relive the past; it makes us feel connected. Music provides the harmonies of the senses that lead to the harmonies of the soul.
For some, the connections and harmonies found in David’s music spark a reawakening to old favorites … music of times past and the memories that live there. This is a voice that reminds us of what we have forgotten; it breathes new life into our hearts. To revisit our youth we call to mind our old 45s and LPs. We find that our rebirth leads us to reacquire these dusty gems via iTunes or by downloading mp3s and mp4s. We have been revived by the treasure trove that is YouTube.
Still others have experienced renewal through a reintroduction to pop music. A music they were either never fond of or had long since given up on. Some haven’t listened to pop music in decades, or were always more Bob Dylan groupies or the Bach and Beethoven crowd. But extraordinary music cuts through genres, and David’s voice is extraordinary. This is a voice that makes us hear music as if for the first time; it awakens our hearts. We float on the river of melody, and hear the words as if they are sung only to us.
The recording industry will hopefully find itself refreshed by the rebirth in music that David Archuleta’s artistry represents; a return to musicianship, to technique; a return to restraint; a return to beauty in mainstream music.
As a community we are fortunate to be standing not toward the end of the continuum but at the beginning. The music of David Archuleta has been an instrument of our rebirth and for this, we listen with grateful hearts.

Heard that David left around noon from Malaysia
David 2.0…….UK here he comes !!!!
Good article Happy.
Yes, Junnie…he’s on his way home, then to Ohio, then to the UK.
TWITTER UPDATE
The Rage just sent out a tweet that David left at noon, Malaysian time. That means he left at 12AM EST.!!
Happy ~ I love you.
Thanks for the beautiful words. I could eat them every day and that might just be enough. That, and the song you threw in at the end.
I just spent 5 days with my beautiful, happy Adam.
Just this morning I was rocking him to sleep listening to a cappella Angels and How Great Thou Art.
This is what a good life is. Loving and soothing his little soul with a piece of heaven.
Happy, wonderful post, and it speaks to me and about me. I’m one of those people who had given up on ever hearing great music again. Like so many others, I grew up on the fantastic smorsgasbord of music that was the ’50s-’80s. It was if a bomb was dropped on the music scene in the late ’80s, and with some exceptions,it was all gone.
All that changed when David Archuleta showed up on American Idol, and it continues, better than ever, to this day. You are right, listening to David, it’s as if I am listening to music for the first time. I have never heard anyone sing with such conviction and intent to communicate. I never know how my physical body will react to one of David’s performances, but being engulfed in chills will be a part of the experience.
David occupies that place that is common in all people, regardless of where they live or how differenct they think they are from others. David is a uniter. When he sings, nothing else exists or matters, personal problems cease to torment. All negative, toxic feelings are rendered impotent. You are so right when you say that “he breathes new life into our hearts”.
Look at these videos from Malaysia and Singapore. He is not a “foreigner”, he’s a home town boy from the other side of the world. They relate to him as if the’ve known him for years. He’s one of them, and they are so comfortable with him.
We all can’t get enough of everything about him. I loved the way the men in Asia were not afraid to express their love for David and his music.
The more David sings his heart out, the more hearts he touches and the more souls he rejuvenates. I’m so happy to be one of them.
p.s.
Way to go Juliebug! I agree with your “other” post a thousand percent. I just don’t feel like going back to find the number of it. Too lazy.
Happy, Thank you for the wonderful post. Yep, you struck a cord in me. It is strange how easily I’ve allowed music to disappear from my life. When I was a child, I was always the one singing at the top of my lungs, or constantly playing my parents albums over & over again. As an adult, I don’t know what happened- getting caught up in family, job and the stress of daily life, not to mention the quality of the music put out by radio, it was easy to see “music” as a distraction or an annoyance. But when I heard David sing, it was like a door that I had long ago forgotten had been re-opened. Music, once again has become a joy. David’s voice has become a balm to my soul. He has helped me to re-discover the passionate, wondrous, colorful world that is music and, for that, I’m forever grateful.
Happy Easter to you all
happy,
You have made me so happy with this joyful, positive, meaningful post this Easter morning! I am up late, reading all the comments from the day on the last thread and find this gem before logging off. You have touched me so deeply by expressing what this experience is all about. It’s all about the music.
“This is a voice that reminds us of what we have forgotten; it breathes new life into our hearts…This is a voice that makes us hear music as if for the first time; it awakens our hearts.”
For an older adult, it is not always easy to be a fan of this remarkable young man. We are either dismissed or dissed. In the last thread, someone posted a comment from a poster on Snarkies, entitled “Angst of an Older Fan”. The writer likens this journey to a train ride. I’m bringing over this part, because I think it has been a source of pain for many of us.
“But I’m a little worried about all the new people boarding. They think it’s the definition of creepy that I’m on the David-train because, after-all, he’s only 18 and he’s sooooo cute and they are surely going to marry him and just ICK that I would be along for the ride because, well, I’m not a teenage girl. He’s hot! He’s single! That’s what this is all about! Why are YOU here they ask me? This is OUR train!”
That is not what this is all about. That is not what David would say this is all about. I truly believe he appreciates his mature, discerning fans, knowing that we have experienced life and our praise is not easily won. Compliments about his looks do not impress him. Offers to marry him do not flatter him. He just wants to sing and be respected for his music and we do. He has struggled hard to be where he is. He has worked so hard over the past year, harder than any of us will ever know. He has renewed my joy for life and brought Spring back to my tired heart and soul. How do you repay someone for that? Besides, David Archuleta is a blast! He is the most fun I have had in many years. I have learned so much about computers, music, myself and the power of goodness exemplified by one very wise young man. So I’m staying on this train wherever it is destined to go. I can not do otherwise. I believe in him; I trust him, and oh how I love him. I will do whatever it takes to help him get to his destination. So for anyone who thinks I don’t belong on this train because I’m too old to be a fan of an 18 year old, I say…bite me.
Happy -- Wow! That photo is beautiful and so speaks to me of rebirth. It is also a great intro to your post which is beautifully writtten. Love how you connect music to words. “Music provides the harmonies of the senses that lead to the harmonies of the soul.” Have spent the evening listening and observing concert videos to soothe my unsettled soul.
“This is a voice that makes us hear music as if for the first time; it awakens our hearts. We float on the river of melody, and hear the words as if they are sung only to us.” Love this -- it is a visual treat.
Though music has always been a part of my life (mostly sub consciously, like it was swimming in my mind) -- I never really listened to it. The VOICE did make me really hear it with the “message” he always talked about. Every song he sang became so much more meaningful than it had been in the past -”it awakens our hearts”.
“….hear the words as if they are sung only to us.” Wasn’t it after one of the songs (You Can, I believe) from the JB concerts, that SF & (?) -- myself included in lurk mode -- were debating that it was so. Boy it sure felt that way. What a trip!
What a joy it was to wake up to such a positive article! I will join in the chorus to sing about how I “lost” my desire for music listening, until David showed up to sing to my heart.
My favorite quote today from a Malaysian fan :
Omg, I screamed like a mad cow when I saw him. LOL LOL
We know hunny, we are all with you in spirit.

Thank you Happy. So on point for all of us. My very first post on Noting David said that he had brought me back to music. I’d been away quite a while after studying a lot of music, vocal and instrumental, in my youth. It just got lost. I’ll never fully understand why this young man renewed that spark that has turned into a raging fire. I listen to everything. I welcome all kinds of music into my life. The level of joy has leapt upward. But primarily, it’s the evolution of David that has fascinated and involved me. I am so grateful and the journey has only begun.
Perfect article for today, Happy! Good morning everyone, and Happy Easter!
Just taking the time to engage in my morning ritual before the day gets really full and very busy. What is a day, any day, without my daily dose of David?
Thanks for this spot-on message.
I should have added a cheery Good Morning and a Happy Easter to all! A perfect way to start the day… mixing up our traditional dinner rolls, checking in at all my David stops and listening to David’s Be Still My Soul. It’s going to be a great day.
Thank you hsppy, that is a wonderful Easter morning story…and I will read it again when I have the peaceful time to enjoy the writing…
I love the sunrise picture and the picture of David, who I hope is safe in bis travels..One can gaze at both and become quite peaceful..
Happy Easter…
Sorry…h.a.p.p.y…
Where did my new avi GO???

Thanks for the fanquote
Omg, I screamed like a mad cow when I saw him. LOL LOL
I am laughing like one. Every time I think of this.
happy -- What a wonderful post, beautiful…full of melodies, perfect for today….thank you.
This is a voice that makes us hear music as if for the first time; it awakens our hearts. We float on the river of melody, and hear the words as if they are sung only to us.
I’m also one of those who stopped listening to music for a long time, all I listened to was talk radio…then came David and my world changed. And strangely enough I do get the feeling as if the song is just for me…weird.
Have a Happy Easter all!
Happy -- what a beautiful post. There is much to celebrate today and your thoughts on renewal and rebirth are inspiring.
And, I look forward to “float(ing) on (the) river of melody” as you so eloquently described; we have much to look forward to at this auspicious beginning of David’s artistic journey.
Oh, and Happy, you teach me much; as much as David’s voice and artistry opened me to look at music closely again, you, my friend, are teaching me how to appreciate music with gusto! I thank you.
Beautiful post happy, and perfect for today.
I am one of those who stopped listening to pop music as a teenager, followed the Grateful Dead in college and later followed bluegrass, world music and classical music. How the heck did I end up here? haha!
David’s voice transcends genres of music, he cuts through to the heart of music and speaks directly to my soul. And hearing him sing the old hymns, “Be Still My Soul” or “How Great Thou Art” brings me great joy.
If you want to see the latest videos from the Sunny Lagoon performance, go to This Week in ArchuWorld, found on the right of this page. Juliebug and Jackryan4DA, our intrepid ArchieSleuths, have them up for your viewing pleasure.
Happy Easter to all!Happy, What a beautiful Spring photo to get “lost” in. Thank-you.
I look out my window as I type, it’s a gorgeous Spring day here in Michigan. Happy’s writings remind me of why music has been so good for me. David’s music. I was gone from the middle to late 80′s in the music world. I attributed it to life and the lack of really good stuff out there. Music became so processed. I listened to top 40, only because of my kids. We turned up a few and sang along. I rarely bought any albums.
Then came David. I was a Star Search junkie from Ed to Arsenio. I knew “Our David” from way back.
There is much to say for what he and his music have done for me. No sense in boring you all with the details as he has touched all of us.
What I do want to say, is I will support and follow him in any of his endeavors. I am too far in my life to even give a rat’s #&* what others perceive as “weird”, when I know where my head is at pertaining to my relationship with David.
Angelica, #7 I’m with ya on the “bite me”!
Wishing everyone a wonderful day.
Angelica #7, applause, applause.
Happy Easter, everyone!
The message of ‘rebirth’ is so appropriate for today. How thoughtful of you, Happy. I’ve been renewed in my faith in people because of David. I’d been rather cynical before David came along. Now I try to be more positive and expect for the best.
Last Thursday two young men tried to steal my car at a traffic lights at around 10 pm. They were not alone. The car in front of me was carrying a whole gang of thieves. Only they failed because all the drivers around me jumped out of their cars to help me, to the detriment of their own safety. This is uncommon in big, dangerous cities. One of them escaped but one was sent to jail. I was shaking but also happy that the forces for good are alive, they just need encouragement. I was surrounded by angels -- but of the human kind.
David is a great force for good and I want him to be such a superstar that he has the chance to, through his example, motivate a lot more people to seek spiritual balance. Maybe it’s a tall order and he just wants to sing, but it is what it is -- he is that influential! God chooses to bestow his blessings upon us through some of his children. I thank Him for David’s life.
Valbraz -- I am grateful to hear that you are safe after that scary encounter. What a blessing that those around you came to your rescue. Glad to hear that the forces for good are alive and well in your part of the world!

TRANSFORMATION
For years
I remained
Hidden from view
Afraid to show myself
or my true colors.
Cloaked
Concealed
I endured.
Waiting for the spring
with the sunlight
the signal to emerge.
Slowly
Cautiously
I begin to unfold my wings,
finding the courage
discovering my strength.
In awe
I marvel at the array
Deepest sapphire blue
Renewing amethyst violet
Tranquil aquamarine
Iridescent blushing rose
Sparkling
Radiant
I take flight.

This rare butterfly is my symbol for David…
Happy, LOVE your post. Especially, “Music has the power to draw us into the present or to relive the past; it makes us feel connected. Music provides the harmonies of the senses that lead to the harmonies of the soul.” Beautifully put. I keep reading that part over!
Music has always been a huge part of my life, as a listener and (once upon a time) as a singer, but I had pretty much given up on pop music in recent years, mostly listening to jazz … until David. And what you say about “connecting us” is so true. I feel it palpably at his concerts… the connection with him and the music and also with everyone there … we’re all the song. So cool.
And Angelica, “He is the most fun I have had in many years.” For sure. The only mood enhancer I need, lol! Happy Easter, everyone!
happy -- lovely post! David’s voice *is* extraordinary, in ways that I don’t fathom but continue to ponder.
I’m reading a book about our lives between lives (Dr. Michael Newton’s research, using hypnosis with clients who recall their experiences) and this paragraph made me wonder… perhaps David is able to transmit sound vibrations that we aren’t able to hear with our ears, but only feel with our souls? He certainly seems to go “somewhere else” when he sings. And so do we!
“From my research, I have come to believe that more than any other medium, music uplifts the soul with ranges of notes far beyond what we know on Earth. There seems to be no limit to the sounds used in the creation of music in the spirit world. People in deep hypnosis explain that musical thought is the language of souls. The composition and transmission of harmonic resonance appears to relate to the formation and Presentation of spiritual language. Far beyond musical communication, I’m told spiritual harmonics are the building blocks of energy creation and soul unification.”
OK, this is your friendly resident woo-woo is signing out with a big “Happy Easter” to David and all who celebrate it!
Perfect timing for this post! Per David’s Malaysian interviews, I believe he’s undergoing a reawakening of sorts (e.g., describing himself as a small business). I hope his past and future tours, promos, etc., continue to give him a better understanding of what it will take for him to get where he wants to be musically.
Off topic --
JayZ/Kelly Clarkson tickets sales are sluggish for an upcoming Arizona concert. It’s definitely the economy.

Video of Archuleta Avenue Malaysia group photo with David. They sing ZG to him!
This morning I found myself doing something that I’d never done before.
I sent a link to David’s “How great thou art” to my niece. I really don’t know her well (she is related by marriage). Anyway, her mother died the other day. I knew how sad she was and since she is a musician herself, I thought maybe she would be open to this. I got this back an hour later.
“Thank you soooo very much for that song. It’s one of my favorites to sing, and it brought me to tears. His beautiful voice moved through my soul, and you are right it is a very healing song.”
David ~ unknowingly healing the world, one at a time.
Happy, what a great post for this Happy Resurrection Sunday (for those who believe)or Happy Easter (for those who do not).
“The recording industry will hopefully find itself refreshed by the rebirth in music that David Archuleta’s artistry represents; a return to musicianship, to technique; a return to restraint; a return to beauty in mainstream music.”
I hope this will be the case as I have stopped listening to Top40/mainstream radio. I can’t believe the “stuff” they are playing and it really annoys me that David’s music is absent from the airwaves (at least in my area).
Mr. Wonderful…
#26 SandyBeaches . April 12, 2009 at 2:30 pm.
That Tranformation poem is so befitting David’s metamorphose from shy unknown small town boy to World Idol. Paula said he was a gem waiting to be discovered by the world (paraphasing), and now the “diamond-in-the-rough” is shining ever so brightly.
Your avi, also a beautiful symbol for David, complements the poem. I thought it interesting that some the Mayalasian fans had Tee-shirts with a symbol very similar to your butterfly (the beautiful blue), their’s might be a bird, not sure.

Happy #7 “Angst of an Older Fan” I truly fell out of my chair laughing at the last line. Took me 15 minutes to stop giggling. I am now going to print it out, frame it , and put on my wall. Then send each one of my kids a copy. This site and all you fun, thoughtful people just make my insides happy.
Happy Easter
*hope I’m in the right place, still haven’t got the hang of it.
didn’t work,
P.S. Meant to add -I’m not going to jump off the deep end concerning David, I’m going to stay with him on the shallow end ’til he gets his feet wet. GO DAVID!!!
Happy -- I love your post. I am one of those were brought to “a reawakening of old favorites” by David. I have, like so many here, always loved music, played an instrument and sang in high school and had at one time planned to major in music in college. Then a change in career direction and the years of babies and working, all the “life” things steered me away from participating and enjoying the musical arts. A few years ago I started listening to jazz (Tofan!) quite a bit but still didn’t explore much beyond that.
…Until David, who sweetly looked us in the eye from the stage of American Idol and said, “Listen with your heart, your soul.”
I had missed the music and I didn’t even know it until David inspired me to open an inner door that led me back to listening to music in a variety of forms, and especially going back to my roots in the 70′s, from Supertramp to Steely Dan, from Indigo Girls to Renaissance to The Alan Parsons Project. He published his songs of the day and I had to go and look up the song, the singer, and discovered Sara and Jason and rediscovered Michael. But with all of that, I get led right back to David again -- Somebody Out There, Falling, Barriers and now a new favorite, Zero Gravity.
Boy had I missed the music.
goboywonder: The link you posted is to a user page. In order for a video to play, you have to post the link to the video itself. Your format, though, will work just fine when the link points to a specific video.
marlie -- I’m going to guess your instrument -- clarinet. Let me know if I’m right or wrong.

If you read the TRANSFORMATION over a few times and it seems so easy to want to do, it is more befitting each time…
Thank you for noticing as it quite drew my attention and it actually spooked me a little . I found the butterfly a few days ago and then fell upon the poem…
David is a little mystical to me…I will check out the video you mentioned. The butterfly has many myths attached to it.
In the middle of family activities and just want to pop in to say bravo happy for your inspired post, and Happy Easter everyone.
Happy~ What beautiful words on this very special day….
“This is a voice that makes us hear music as if for the first time; it awakens our hearts. We float on the river of melody, and hear the words as if they are sung only to us.”
~You never fail to make me smile…Have I mentioned lately just how much I love you~
Happy Easter to All ~
happy! you have made reference in the past that you were a “lurker” at nD for a while before taking the plunge. Lucky for us you did! Seems some of the former lurkers have turned out to be the most gifted writers, case in point, go back and read all of happy’s posts from jD and now here. Brilliant is the only word that’s comes to my mind.
Today’s post is not only brilliant, but so appropriate for today. The rebirth of music for so many people because of The Voice. For me, it wasn’t just the rebirth of music…it was the rebirth of my heart & soul. I had been using music therapy for many years. Wasn’t working though as I still felt dead inside. But still, I had to have music all around me all the time. Then a miracle happened one night early last year when David said “I’m going to make sure they understand it” about the judges & “Heaven”. I had taped that segment and I kept rewinding it over & over. Something started between David & I after that…I fell in love with The Voice. I knew I had to see & hear this young boy again & again. By the time “Imagine” week came along, I was starting to change inside. I could write a book about the changes in me this past year..not talking about outward physical changes, but the changes inside. I wanted to live forever for my kids, grandkids, for me and for David. His voice awakens something in me every time I hear it, no matter what he sings, he renews my spirit, my soul. I know finding David was meant to be for me. Living while dead inside is no life at all. I’ve said before when he came into my life, now I’m lost inside of him. He has my devotion and support as a fan for the rest of my life. That’s the least I can do for him for sharing with me his Voice and his music and making me understand it as I never have before.
I’m hoping David is having a beautiful Easter with his family, even if it was just part of the day. David so modest, has no idea what a miracle he is to so many of us. May he live long and prosper…wait, that sound’s like..well, no matter, I still mean it!
I love David Archuleta.
Joner, good interview, although I wish these people would stop asking him what he doesn’t like about himself. We all have things about ourselves that we are too harsh with ourselves about. I was glad to hear David say that he feels better about his voice now. As for being “funny looking”, we should all be so funny looking.
David remains the most gracious, warm hearted person on the planet, and it just jumps off the screen during this interview. Fame and fortune will not tarnish David in any way. It will make him even more wonderful. These are definitely the “good old days” for David.
davidfanLIZ: I’m LMAO at clarinet. No, sweetie, French Horn, drums and piano. Also played Baritone Horn when I had my braces on because it has a larger mouth piece than the French Horn. LOL

New article
SF: I love to hear your story -- and your love for David is well…so deep and true and lovely.
happy, Beautifully written. Amazing how many have returned to current music or just music because of David. And now we cannot imagine our lives without his music.
Joner, great interview and I love your caption, Mr Wonderful.
Marlie -- dang it, brass, not woodwinds. Oh well! And drums and piano, wow1
Welcome, dakgal, #35, “This site and all you fun, thoughtful people just make my insides happy.” Me too.
I heard some very sad news tonight. About the death of two people I knew only distantly but the suddenness of both and the young age (25 in one case) hit me hard and really brought home the fragility of life. I don’t need to tell any of you that all I wanted to do when I got home was listen to David sing. And drop by here and read for a while. Warms my heart, thanks, guys.
I had to pop in for a quick hello!
I am away with my daughter for an “accepted students” day, (which is actually tomorrow), at the college she will most likely be attending. I decided to use the hotel’s internet in their lobby while my daughter is socializing, so I guess I can’t be here too long. (Happy -- does that remind you of anything??)
I LOVE this post -- it’s so perfect because I think it relates to so many people and their unconditional love for David. Music has always been such a passion of mine, but I do feel that until David came along I sort of closed the door on pop music. I still enjoyed all the old standards, jazz, classic rock and Broadway, but that was about it. I am one of the many here who were completely enthralled by “The Voice.” I’m so appreciative to have that back in my life!!
I better go now -- people are starting to give me dirty looks..LOL
TOfan, {{{hugs}}}
I just caught up with everyone’s post. David would be so proud if he could read how he & he alone has rekindled the love and passion for music for so many people. That is one of his goals after all, to communicate through music and so far, his communication skills through music has been superb.
Good night everyone! For David…
Dear Lord,
Please take care of David. Watch over him, protect him from all harm. Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path. Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give. Surround David with loving and supportive people who love him UNCONDITIONALLY as we, his Archangels do. Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being. Give him rest when he’s weary. Give him stamina to sustain his hectic pace. Give him assurance when he feels doubt. Give him joy when he feels sad. Cloak him always in your protective arms during this time on his journey. Keep David and HIS VOICE healthy & strong as he fulfills his Destiny which was written in his Book of Life before he was born.
Though we may be unworthy, we humbly pray.
Amen.
Sweet dreams, David! Be safe & secure in our love & support always. We missed you badly and love you madly, and so happy you are home even if just for a few days! Contigo siempre, con amor!
Tofan: My heart goes out to you. Especially when the loss is such a young person. SOT.
TOfan, oh no…(((hugs))) and prayers.
I’ve spent the weekend with family… tried to “explain” David to a few and need to have a good cry. I guess this is the best place to do that. Here I know that my devotion to this young man will be understood, and as happy’s article describes, my love for music re awakened and shood up.
The interview at #33, (thanks Joner) warmed my heart, he really is Mr Wonderful.
*shook up* can’t spell when I’m crying.
joner . April 12, 2009 at 4:55 pm .
Oh my my my my!
I can watch that video frame by frame. He is flawlessly beautiful.
Thank you !
Abrra
TOfan, so sorry for this sad news.
refnaf, what a shame you feel the need to cry after trying to explain something that brings you joy and hurts no one.
{{{{hugs}}}} to both of you.
Happy Easter everyone.
Happy, wonderful article… About music , David gave me the inspiration and courage to try something new, start learning an instrument…You probably read about this previously, At 48 years old, started having piano lessons…I think I heard him tell me (whispering in my ears)it is not yet too late….
On another front our David ( who doesn’t like his voice and his face) is everywhere

The game was over. Boston was pulling its goalie. A beat writer standing by the elevator was calling in his “Miami wins!” lede. I was sprinting over to the RedHawks crowd to enjoy the celebration of their first-ever national championship. Those fans were already hopping up and down in glee. This kid in his robe, though, still believed.
“I didn’t lose faith,” he told me, after it was over, after his beard had been stripped off during the dog-pile in the bleachers, after he had been squeezed and photographed more than David Archuleta at an AARP convention.
Happy Easter Monday from Sydney
TOfan and refnaf, I’m sending big hugs north to both of you!!!
After enjoying a beautiful and blessed Easter today, I am checking in to say hello to all of my dear TDC friends, all of you. I am warmed in knowing that this post resonated with those of you who commented so beautifully. Our collective connection to the music of David Archuleta is a gift to us all, as is our growing sense of community and friendship. I thank you all for this gift, and to rascal for sowing the seeds in the nD community. {{hugs to all of you}}
SF- you know you are the one who drew me out of lurkdom, so I thank you for all of the nights of fun that I have had commenting and then to kizzi, marlie, TOfan, freo, and davidfanLiz for making it possible to set to posting; Betsy, dj, nina, refnaf- ♥
David’s voice was the first that I could listen to after the death of my husband and not begin to cry. Gradually David’s voice reopened the joy of music to me and to him I will always listen with a grateful heart. TOfan I hope that the music will help soothe you in your sorrow.
My prayer for a blessed Easter to you all.
refnaf: I don’t even try anymore. It’s too difficult to explain, and most people look at me like I’m out of my mind. I still don’t understand why it is okay for men to be OTT about cars or sports with nary a sideways glance from anyone.
How about those Nascar fans -- does anyone say anything bad about all the people who wear their favorite driver’s t-shirt,have his number on their car, have his number on their beer holder, LOL? Or travel from race track to race track 8 months of the year, every single year? No, people don’t consider that obsessive.
Or Buffalo Bills fans who strip to the waist, paint themselves red, white and blue and go to the game 12 hours in advance to have tailgate parties, then jump around in the stands in 30 degree weather wearing mostly their paint? They get a pat on the back (or rump) and a “Heh, Heh, a diehard are ya?” Sheesh!
Antway…we get it {{{refnaf}}}
marlie7#62- that is a commentary on the role of sports in our society vs the role of art and music. Many people do not seem to understand the role that music plays in the lives of some. Totally normal (people complain, but it’s totally normal) to spend $400 on a Yankee game but people think you are nuts to spend that on a concert…oh well. To those that music is important… they understand.
Thanks and ehugs back… you peeps are the best. I just spent a few minutes watching the KL perfomances. DLG blew me away, just like in Sayreville…
I’m going to sleep now with my Dpod, night all.
Tofan {{{HUGS}}}
I felt so -- I don’t know -- scared I guess sending a David vid to someone that I have never spoken to about him. I almost didn’t hit the submit button. When I did, I worried that she would think me strange.
When she said “his beautiful voice moved through my soul”, I was elated. I shouldn’t have worried.
She is a R&B singer and has a cd of her own out.
Real musicians know real musicians.
The VA admitted my son into their hospital today. For two months. The healing is finally beginning.
(the drive home alone tonight just about fractured me)
I felt as if I needed a dose of David.
It really does work.
p.s. That is my son in my newest avi. Taken one week home from Iraq.
Betsy, Tofan, renaf and everyone big hugs from you. Prayers to everyone for you and you family and friends with health/family/personal problems.
Each of us have different ways of coping with problems, and David gave us another option. Music to some is just to pass the time like I am bored, what can I do, but for some of us, it is different. For me,David’s music saved my life, I told that to my 14 year old son, that David helped me cope this last 12 months. And he suddenly looked at me ……..
Just uploaded a few songs and people can download these if you haven’t made an MP3 yourself.
Just send this http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NQS60NG3
of How great thou art by David to my family in the Philippines. As I mentioned previously regarding my 15 year niece who had leukemia, she had already gone home….. doesn’t want anymore chemo. Just wanted to enjoy the last few days with her family (hopefully weeks…). She went home last Holy Wednesday and still coping….
Just timely to listen to this song, sooth the soul and contemplate. and another one is http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9ISWCAD9 Be still my soul.
My sweet friends TOfan, refnaf and betsy. My heart goes out to each of you. I’m glad we have David’s voice for comfort. Rascal said months ago: “I try never to question what feeds my soul…” And later he says, “a treacherous and cynical world can dissipate in an instant with the expression of love.”
We are the lucky ones here, don’t you think? We have David’s music to soothe our souls when we need it.
Thanks Vee and Liz. It is the music that soothes. But something else, as well.
The kind friends that I have met here help me every day. We have been brought together by our *goodwill ambassador*. I am more grateful for that alone than anyone can know.
(even though I still suffer from comment regret every time I talk about my son. I can’t help it, though)
Thanks for being my “somebody out there”

ANGELS
Written by Robbie Williams
I sit and wait
does an angel contemplate my fate
and do they know
the places where we go
when we´re grey and old
´cos I´ve been told
that salvation lets their wings unfold
so when Im lying in my bed
thoughts running through my head
and I feel that love is dead
Im loving angels instead
and through it all she offers me protection
a lot of love and affection
whether Im right or wrong
and down the waterfall
wherever it may take me
I know that life wont break me
when I come to call she wont forsake me
Im loving angels instead

David Archuleta -- Somebody Out There Lyrics:
Sittin all alone in your room
Thinkin that the worlds let you down
All you ever wanted to do is trust someone to always be around
Youve had a lot of lessons to learn from
Some of them hit you so hard
And I keep believing someday youll see, you dont have to be alone
Theres somebody out there, somebody somewhere to show you the tenderness you need
Somebody to hold you when worries control you
Id give anything if only you knew it was me
Ive been watchin you go through all of these things for a while
Theres gotta be a way to bring you back
Coz these words sing when you smile
It doesnt have to hurt you forever
It doesnt have to last too long
If you wonder where to turn to
I hope that you know
I wanna be there when youre in need
I would never be long if you were waiting
When youre gonna see, if you could only see
Id give anything, anything at all, i think it’s time that you knew it was me
Thanks vee,
I am still determined to make a cd of inspirational songs by David. I have these you posted tonight and am still working on getting the best versions of others. Do you know if it is possible to get a recording downloaded of the Be Still My Soul on FOD posted on Easter? It has David speaking about how much the song means to him at the start and I would like to have that version if possible?
So far the list is: *Indicate those I have downloaded good versions of.

that infamous defeat.
“A lot of people went ‘oh you must have been so sad’ and ‘weren’t you bummed?’. And I was like ‘no’,” he said, punctuating almost every sentence with a quirkly laugh. “I was fine. I know a lot of people were sad but I don’t think they should have been because I am totally happy.
“The main thing for me wasn’t winning. I don’t understand how I made it so far because I just wasn’t in that competitive mindset. I was looking forward to making more music, and what opportunities would come after the show,” he said, adding that he felt Cook is an “excellent winner”.
Shopping and clothes…trends,,
Nineteen-year-old Yvette Chan who won a DiGi contest which enabled her to be part of Archuleta’s entourage, got the chance to do some shopping with him! She shared that while Archuleta wasn’t nearly as obsessed with clothes before Idol, he finds that he has to keep up with trends now that he is in the public eye… “and he kinda likes it!” Chan revealed that Archuleta went from clothes store to clothes store, to clothes store. “He walks so fast … he walks as fast as some people run,” she said, adding that he kept his head down low so no one would recognise him but when three screaming teens eventually did, Chan and Archuleta had to run for cover to the hotel.
All he likes to do is sing
If you think Archuleta is just an “aww gosh” and “golly gee” type of person, think again. Blame American Idol. The top-rated reality programme has a tendency of doing a disservice to some of its participants by only featuring some parts of their lives. Viewers are quick to label and judge them after that.
Archuleta just happens to be level headed, easy to talk to and passionate about his trade.
You may also think that he comes from a competitive background simply because he was portrayed that way on the show – what with being fed with the footage of his Star Search participation, as well as the whole brouhaha over his father Jeff’s controlling behaviour during the American Idol.
“It’s funny that I’m known for competitions when I’m not a competitive person,” Archuleta emphasised. “I only did one talent show when I was 10 (the Utah Talent Competition). And then Star Search at 12.
“In the competitions that I’ve done, I’ve never had a competitive mindset. They were just opportunities for me to sing. I just love to sing,” he said, adding that his dad (along with the rest of his family) keeps him grounded most of the time.
Thanks vee!
Rascal’s version was the SOT I wanted besides a good tour performance version. Got it!

His album and his songs
Archuleta is happy that the album represents what he loves to do as a singer. “On American Idol, people really didn’t get a chance to see the kind of singer I wanted to be. I am young and I like soulful pop. I listen to the Top 40. I am not the kind of person who sings classic standards all the time. I want to be able to relate with people my age.”
Tracks like Crush, A Little Too Not Over You, Touch My Hand and Don’t Let Go – all of which he performed at his showcase in Malaysia – seemed to go down well with the hordes of screaming teens, who knew every lyric and were happy to sing at the top of their voices along with their current favourite star. Rapport with the audience was not something Archuleta had to work at. It came very naturally.
His height and his fans
It’s no wonder that last year, the 1.7m tall singer (yes, he’s not that short) received the Teen Choice Award for “Most Fanatic Fans”. Banners and posters spotted during the local show -- “I love Archie”, “Marry Me” and “You are my crush” – revealed the connection these kids felt with their heartthrob. Archuleta, in turn, paid the crowd kudos for their rousing reaction with a heartfelt shout-out of “Malaysia Boleh”.
Will he change with success??? his family, friend and faith
Because of his bashful, boyish ways, however, some quarters assume that too much success too soon will cause the teenager to stray. Archuleta feels differently.
“I don’t think that this will change me. I have a lot of support as I go through this busy entertainment world. I mean I will change as a person because I’m only 18 and I will keep maturing. But I think that I have a lot of things to help me along the way,” he offered plainly.
“My family is the biggest thing. And then there are my beliefs and values that I’ve always kept with me. They are part of the reason why I’ve gotten this far. And if I continue to keep these things with me, then I’ll go where I need to go,” he said, “even if that doesn’t mean super success like Beyonce and Michael Jackson and all those people.
“You know, I may not reach that point but as long as I feel like I’m doing what’s best and the right thing then I would have accomplished what I had to do.”
Angelica -- Still working on the list. Open to suggestions.
How about Smokey Mountain Memories?
I like his SOT from the SLC concert the best.
BTW -- I love your post, I’m always impressed with your writings and “bite me” was perfect…lol

His singing all the time
Music has always been a part of Archuleta’s life, whether it is performing, singing or just listening to it. “It has just helped me in a lot of different ways,” Archuleta said.
Apparently when he was little, he would sing all the time – “in my backyard, driving my neighbours and their dogs crazy.”
And he still does.
“I don’t shut up. You can ask my sister, she tells me to shut up all the time. I’ll be singing late at night and she’ll be banging on the door.”
After the vocal paralysis
Archuleta said that though he always felt it was great to be involved in music, he definitely gained a greater appreciation for it after the paralysis episode. “It is truly a blessing to be able to do this – to be able to do music and to perform – even after that happened.”
And now every day, especially since going through therapy, Archuleta spends time practicing his vocals.
“It keeps my voice strengthened and it keeps my endurance up. That’s the most important thing,” he said, proceeding to give an impromptu demonstration of ascending and descending vocal scales. “It just keeps my voice in shape. It’s like stretching before you go running.”
Being a role model
The principal is especially respectful of Archuleta’s clean, humble and wholesome image.
“He is a most suitable role model because he gives children the message that ‘clean’ is ‘cool.’”

Champion or not, David Archuleta is on top of his game.
Watch the video
ALMOST a year after American Idol Season Seven ended last May, the question still plaguing many David Archuleta fans everywhere is this: Shouldn’t he have won the competition and was he heartbroken when he came in second to reigning champ David Cook?
Believe it or not, the 18-year-old singer from Utah, United States, says he was unfazed.
David Archuleta Boleh!: The affable artist gamely wore an apple green Baju Melayu at the press conference last week.
“I actually felt totally fine,” said Archuleta on Friday, when he was in the Klang Valley for a four-day promotional stop. Archuleta’s trip to Malaysia which ended yesterday was a big success, and gave him the opportunity to connect with his fans here by making a surprise appearance on Thursday at SM Sri KDU in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya; and performing a half hour showcase to a loud and lively crowd of 6,000 at the Sunway Lagoon ampitheatre on Saturday afternoon.
Being his first-ever trip to Malaysia (he’d only ever been to Canada prior to this Asian visit), Archuleta spoke to the press while he was in town, and did a few private interviews too, like this one. After a quick photoshoot at the Pyramid Tower Hotel on Friday afternoon, he settled down to talk about himself … and that infamous defeat.
At a press conference on Thursday, Archuleta – who sportingly donned a baju melayu and sampin – was all smiles as he relayed to the media present how he had been enjoying his journey post Idol.
“This is something I never thought would actually happen to me. It is a true blessing,” he said when someone asked if he regretted not having a “normal” life these days. “I do get to do normal things whenever I can … I go to my friends’ houses and go to restaurants. People sometimes recognise me,” he admitted “but they are usually very considerate of my personal time.”
While he was in town, Archuleta even managed to cram in some shopping at the Sunway Pyramid mall and went unnoticed … for a while at least.
For Chan, this was the opportunity of a lifetime. The student from Penang got to have lunch with Archuleta and watch as he did photoshoots, and interviews as well as chat with him during his free time. “He was really great and he even gave me a hug at the end of the day,” she gushed.

“In the competitions that I’ve done, I’ve never had a competitive mindset. They were just opportunities for me to sing. I just love to sing,” he said, adding that his dad (along with the rest of his family) keeps him grounded most of the time.
But Archuleta admits that to come from those humble beginings to making an album, touring and travelling has been an amazing experience. David Archuleta the album, released in November 2008, made its debut at No.2 on the Billboard charts, and has sold over 665,000 copies in the United States alone. In Malaysia, the album is on its way to achieving gold status (10,000 copies).

“I don’t think that this will change me. I have a lot of support as I go through this busy entertainment world. I mean I will change as a person because I’m only 18 and I will keep maturing. But I think that I have a lot of things to help me along the way,” he offered plainly.

“You know, I may not reach that point but as long as I feel like I’m doing what’s best and the right thing then I would have accomplished what I had to do.”
Small miracles
Music has always been a part of Archuleta’s life, whether it is performing, singing or just listening to it. “It has just helped me in a lot of different ways,” Archuleta said.
Apparently when he was little, he would sing all the time – “in my backyard, driving my neighbours and their dogs crazy.”
And he still does.
“I don’t shut up. You can ask my sister, she tells me to shut up all the time. I’ll be singing late at night and she’ll be banging on the door.”
Born to a jazz musician dad and salsa singer/dancer mum, Archuleta is one of five siblings, and speaks about his family fondly always.
But things were not always rosy for him on the singing front. When he was 12, Archuleta had the distressing experience of being diagnosed with vocal paralysis.
“It was really scary. I still had a voice, but it just didn’t last very long. So I was always scared to do performances because I didn’t know if my voice would last all the way through. It also had an effect on my breathing and just the way I talked was kinda funny at the time.”
Things really slowed down for a couple of years. “I was going to school and doing other things. But you know, it was interesting to see my voice come back.”
Thankfully, voice therapy seemed to help.
“And on American Idol I had the same doctor who had previously diagnosed me with vocal paralysis and it was funny to see him again; he just couldn’t believe my improvement. He said it was a miracle.”
Squeaky clean
One of the nicest things Archuleta had agreed to do while he was in Malaysia, was to appear at a school. It’s not everyday a star like him makes a stopover just to talk about getting good grades and achieving one’s dreams. This extraordinary gesture went a long way for the students at SM Sri KDU, who won the Hitz.fm contest open to all Malaysian secondary schools. The school contest received an overwhelming response with a total of 104,480 entries received across the nation. And the winning school – SM Sri KDU – secured the most number of points by answering questions correctly.
A.K. Chan, who has been principal of the school since 2003, shared that SM Sri KDU had not had such a huge event before.
She said: “We have had smaller celebrities come to our school, but never a current international star. We are extremely lucky to have had David visit our school, give advice and perform exclusively for our students.”
With 1,200 students between the ages of 12 and 18 present, Chan said that the event was as close as one can get to mass hysteria … without the situation getting out of control. “There was pushing and shoving, but no one got injured so that was good.
“We had expected a huge, enthusiastic response but not of the scale that we had! It was amazing.”
The principal is especially respectful of Archuleta’s clean, humble and wholesome image.
“He is a most suitable role model because he gives children the message that ‘clean’ is ‘cool.’”
On American idol
Archuleta feels that Idol provided him with a great training ground for the entertainment business.
“It was like bootcamp. It was a test of sorts to see if I was ready, if I really wanted to and could do this. It was a lot of hard work and took a lot of time, but I realised along the way that it was something I wanted to do. I actually enjoyed the hard work that went into it and I was so happy to know that.”
Archuleta is a big believer that if you feel passionate about something, you should follow your dreams.
vee -- sorry about your niece -- my prayers for your family.
One of the best interview ever
This is one of the best… I hope these interviewers counterparts in the US take notice…. there is much, much more to David than meets the eye.
Marlie7 please help, didn’t mean it.
Sorry for this , something is wrong with my posting, could admin, edit my previous post.. I didn’t mean to post the whole article, just bit and pieces..
Better stop now…
vee: Don’t worry, everybody here likes to read about David
This opening sentence to a short article from AHN Media has an emphasis that i am liking. Not sure if it means what I think it means….we’ll have to wait and see:
“Disney sensation Demi Lovato will tour with American Idol runner-up David Archuleta on a tour this summer.”
djafan#76
Thanks! I was just thinking about adding SMM to the list. I will check out the SOT from SLC.
And I appreciate the kind words. I just get so tired of almost feeling like I have to skulk around about my admiration for a great singer just because he’s a *gasp* young man!! lol.
{{{hugs}}} back to all, love you guys.
And marlie7, #81, I’m also likin’ that emphasis! (Steely Dan’s one of my faves too, btw!)
Whatever kind of tour they’re doing, I just hope Demi has her passport up-to-date to come north of the border.
Vee,
You are so sweet.
Hugs and prayers for your niece,
Good morning all!
Note to Vee,
You are so good to all of us, sharing the downloads, keeping us UTD on all the most recent articles & interviews of David, so I am so sorry you are going through hard & sad times with your neice. It’s so true that bad things seem to happen to good people. I’m glad you have David and your ODD to get you through. And you have us here you can “talk to” whenever you need to. Thank you for all you do for us. You are very much appreciated.
Marlie, TOfan..I think David’s successful
UK tour will determine whether it will be a Demi with David opening, or “David and Demi” tour!
I hope they have equal billing which would mean equal number of songs. I admit she’s OK. Better than Miley..but her rendition of the NA was awful…and she’s a very pretty girl too.
See ya’ll later!
I wish the press would stop calling David “the American Idol runner-up” and call him “the new pop sensation”. Sheesh, how long will he have to wear that label?
marlie, Hopefully they’ll stop calling him that when there’s a new AI runner-up!
I didn’t plan on posting until a lot later, but the greatest thing just happened..anyway I think it’s great ( & funny ). A co-worker, who I had been gushing, showing my desktop & screensaver photos to, AND playing David’s songs for her and some other women just last week, came into my office just now to tell me she found out her daughter is nuts about David too. I asked her how old her daughter is, thinking she was a teen, cus my co worker is a very young looking beautiful middle-aged lady…her daughter is 26! OK< still a lot younger than me, but not a teen! She works at a local bank and ALL the women at this bank all have ODD! They are all excited, my co worker said, cuz David will be in concert close by (Indianapolis) this summer and all the women at the bank are making plans to go! She told me her daughter kept telling her, “Mom, He’s sooooo HOT!!” I told her with a straight, very flushed face, “Oh HE IS, but it’s all about The Voice!” She looked at me and said, “Yeah, Dee, I saw your screensaver! It’s ok, Dee!” bhahahahahahahahahaha!! I’m BUSTED!!
Angelica,
Delurking to make a suggestion for your inspirational CD. How about “Joyful, Joyful”? Beautiful, but it gets cut off, just when it goes uptemp. David is about 13.
I forgot to say that sometimes I think I’m the ONLY one in my city who suffers from ODD…now I find out I’m NOT and it just make me deliriously happy!
SF: What a great way to start the week! I loved this…All the women at the bank have ODD….makes me chuckle.
{{{hugs}}} to Tofan, Vee and Betsy and all who are experiencing losses and difficulties. Betsy, I hope your son comes home healed. My prayers are with you all.
Last week while shopping at Costco, I overheard one of the employees (a woman around 60+) talking to her coworkers about David and I so wanted to go over and gush with her but didn’t want them to think I was eavesdropping (although I guess I was) but I did finish shopping with the biggest smile on my face. It just made me happy.
Happy,
Love your post! It is so true for me. In the last 5 or 6 years, music has become very healing for me. Having to deal with lots of stress, loss, family problems, I turned to music. I really started listening to lyrics and seeking out music that spoke to me whether it was the lyric or a catchy melody. When I saw David sing “Waiting on the World”, he got my attention, but when he sang “Imagine” I was hooked. I am a huge Eva Cassidy fan (discovered her music in 2001). I thought to myself that David reminds me of a male contemporary version of Eva. Ever since, I have been visiting ND, JD and here, but as I am very shy, I have only posted once after seeing him in Richmond. I just couldn’t help myself. I feel like this is the only place I can really feel like I am not abnormal. Thank you all for being here. Love you guys!
Angelica,
Here is the most beautiful version of God Bless America, I have ever heard. David is about 10 or 11. It is very different from the one he sang in Tampa Bay.
When I saw this video I immediately thought of all my friends here at TDC and especially of David because I think he embodies everything this video has to say, and he does it, not by preaching it, but by living it.
I especially like who the music is by and the final image with it’s reference to Disney is humourous considering all of the stressing going on this past weekend.
Enjoy!

P.S…..Have I told you today that I ♥ you guys?
oh, and that other guy too….good old “whatshisname”.
HopeUDance2 -- Welcome. Hey, we’re the normal ones right? That is, if it’s normal to feel connected to something true and beautiful and joyful.
vee-Sorry things have not gone as well as you must have hoped for your neice.
betsy- hope your son has a good outcome from his hospitalization. Praying for both you and vee and your loved ones.
HopeUDance2- I considered putting in David’s Joyful, Joyful, but the experience of having him get cut off right when he’s getting cranked up, is almost painful. I might though. I will listen to the God Bless America from young David when I get home. Thanks so much for your help. I hope your lurking days are over and you will continue to talk to us. We love it when lurkers show themselves. I lurked for many months myself.
SF- LOL! Busted! sigh…I know, I know. It’s all about the voice. But then what’s all that other stuff over there? Bwahahahaha! yeah.
{{TOFan}} just now reading your sad news. Hope all is well.
HopeUDance2 -- previous lurker here…hope you stay on.
I’ve never heard this one…I’m in tears, that was beautiful! He’s amazing! I’m gushing, but this is the place to do it.
Prayers to all who are going through hardships.
Yesterday was such a emotional…busy day… I cried through most of the church service, the lead singer sang while playing the keyboard and hubby leans over and tells me “there’s your Archuleta” got me to laugh, but I told him “he doesn’t compare”.

Thank you all for being normal like me….lol.
I had posted this in previous post but thought I’d bring over…MTV interview…talk about gushing…the archueffect.

Thanks renaid & HG. So many people going through tough times here and yet such strong spirit and support bubbles up through the screen. wow.
SF, that is so cool. An ODD bank … I’d for sure be overdrawn!
Just read this re Demi Lovato and thought (what else?) of the possibilities for David and, more specifically, Zero Gravity: She “recently released a deluxe edition of the album with new songs.”
The Demi Lovato poll is interesting; looks like we’re sort of divided over that news.
HG -- divided is right. I’m still waiting to hear about who opens for who, or is it a co-bill.
Good Afternoon All~
{{HUGS}}to all who are going through some rough times right now..just know we are all here for you and you are in our
prayers~
This is not David related but it has “Feel Good” written all over it~~made me smile ~we need more of this…
Have a Great Day!
Co-bill or whatever, I was really hoping David would tour with a popular “veteran” this summer (Kelly Clarkson anyone?). Anyway, lest I sound like a broken record, I will hold my peace on the direction David’s label is taking him and just whisper to myself the mantra “Trust the Archulator… Trust the Archulator…”
djvox Thanks for that. Spontaneous, joyful music-making! I love these renegade public events.
…Still LOL!
Hilarious! I could so see that happening at Grand Central Terminal! Love it!
Thanks for sharing, djxox!
le pant….do not go near FOD today if you want to keep it all about the voice. Seriously. Save yourself.
Good morning everyone. it is just 3:55 am here
Thanks everyone for those kind words and prayers for my niece. My whole family appreciates all of your prayers…I know I found my real efamily. The titles/names may be different from nD, then jD and now tDC but the people are the same

*gasp..couph..wheeze* Tried to warn you…save as many as I could…it’s too late for me. le pant…le sigh…le thud…adieu mon chere’
I’m sorry! I know everyone is working today to get some beautiful inspirational music together and all and it’s wonderful. But those photos over at FOD are just to die for. I mean I almost choked on my green tea when I opened the FOD site and was hit with one of the most beautiful, sensual, sexy (yes!sexy!) sights I have EVAH seen in all my born days!! Good Gosh! Those eyes will be the death of me yet!
OMG! My heart just skipped a beatttt!!! Beautiful and Sexyyyyyyyyy!!!!!! yes…. breathe, breathe….
Why did I look? I was warned!….Got to look again…
OMG these are awesome! My heart is doing flip-flops and I can’t catch my breath.
SF113-I should not be encouraging you, I am not a good friend…I am enabling… so, which is your favorite? hmmmm.
Aye mamasita!
I’ve tried to be good, to watch what I say, how I say it and then he goes and looks like that and it’s captured on camera!
I give up! I’m going to hell! I’ve repented too many times…HE no longer buh-leeves me, that I’m sorry…but Dang, what does HE expect. HE’s the one who made David THAT way!
happy…YOU first! OK, I like the “wet” ones! OMG. I AM going to hell!
I meant to say..I’m going to the “evil below us” ( David doesn’t say “hell”, so I apologize).
Happy, I really think the one where he’s perspiring and the one of his very beautiful eyes. Don’t you think those are lovely?
There! Is that better? Do I still have to go to confession?
So? Well? Is anybody here or is everyone alive. Oh my gosh..they’re just pictures of David. No big deal. Just cuz he’s flawless & beautiful and the posters over at Snarky’s are hating David cuz of his flawless complexion! That’s what they see…just his flawless, glowy skin! Why can’t I JUST SEE THAT?
Now I really feel bad. I’m bad. Forgive me. I’ll go away for a while (like jello does when she’s hurt). bye.
I’m sorry David…Now I hate you too, like the Snarks.
dead
whimper
really dead
I’m here…I’m just speechless…
Just saw the FOD photos.
*THUD.*
Good afternoon! I have just a few minutes here. Taxes are wrapped up
and the house is empty
djxox Wow, thanks from posting that video. Is that Grand Central Station? Had me tearing up with joy! Yes, we do need more of that. I’ll be sharing that with my family.
I haven’t read much above, but I see that I’m going to have to check out those photos!
happy Thanks for a very timely post about rebirth. Thankfully, I have not been going through an rough times, but David has certainly awakened in me a new love for music. Of course his voice is unsurpassed, but I also run off, like most of us here, and research every artist/song he mentions. There are too many to list, but I’m running out of creative ways to explain to my husband/kids how I’ve become aware of all these “new” artists!
Not complaining, I do love it. It’s become a good thing we have teenage daughters or I would have a tough time explaining my newfound surge of interest in current pop music. I usually use “if you can’t beat’em, join’em” claimining that the girls coerce me into listening to their pop radio stations!
NO! rapture! Don’t do it..do not be tempted. Do not look! They are just pictures. Nothing special. Honest. Don’t look!
(I blame happy..she is MY enabler! She admits it! It’s your fault happy! Are you happy now, happy!?)
SF: Did you just use my name in vain?
Hey…it’s not all that bad…@ least I am famous for something
BTW: It was decided a very long time ago that I am going to H*** also. See ya there!
rapture~ I just LOVE it~not Grand Central….Central Station Antwerp (Belgium)..I love stuff like that, reminds so much of growing up in NY..NY crowds are the best..I really mean that.
If you double click to watch it on youtube you get a better effect..so cool…
Just saw the photos at FOD. Yikes! He is just beautiful.
Off topic, but I really like the venue too. I think about that every time I see photos/video from there. Just such a nice “living” environment to showcase our David!
There was a video of a “ninja meet and greet” from KL over at Snarky’s. I must say that I prefer David in t-shirts with ordinary neck lines. **No more v-necks please.**
The jib-jab at FOD is very funny! “I laugh out loud at this because it is so hilarious!”
back to finish that interview…
Shhhhh….I’ve printed exactly 4 copies already of the “eyes”. Experimented w/several different sizes for my “album”.
There…it’s out…and I am out. ha.
SF: You were only gone like, an hour. Sheesh…if you want to be all immature like me, I suggest you stay away for @ least 2! But it is so hard.
After all, I am only 18.
I think FOD is trying to get rid of all the other sites. They want David all to themselves! Why else would they post EVEN MORE photos of David?? They want to kill us all! They are evil..that’s what! Evil! And, anyway the photos aren’t all that great anyway! Right? Really. They aren’t, so don’t go to FOD! DON’T.
And now I have to go home. May as well since I didn’t really earn my pay today. I feel so guilty!
see ya’ll later!
Too late SF I’m scarred for life.
Hey Jello! Last we “spoke” I was changing planes in the Denver airport on my way back for Boise! Such fond memories! Everytime I see or hear the words Boise or Sayreville, my heart skips a beat!
djxox Thanks for the video info! NYers (at least me) can be so “self” centered sometimes! Often hard to imagine that not everything revolves around NY! (except, ofcourse when David is in town.) Although, surprisingly, I’m noticing mentions of Utah everywhere!
Rapture: I was just watching the Boise vids today for the gadzillionth time! Looks as though that concert ranks right up there as one of the best! It all seems like so long ago…sigh…
Seems like yesterday to me -- probably because it’s still imprinted on my brain and it’s hard to see around! What a weekend.
SF, Count me as one of those who didn’t earn their pay check today. Who can focus on work when the “sWEaTy” David photos are just a click away.lol
Rapture, I’m also running out of creative ways to explain to my family my new-found interest and knowledge in pop music. lol
Yes, SF. FOD are evil and must be destroyed. More pics up now, montages by Jennifer Barry. I saved them under protest.
Just coming back to earth from heaven and then these.
SF they (FOD) really want mass murder

Rapture 138, I also have a teenage daughter, but I still have a hard time explaining my new interest in pop music, since I wasn’t interested in music AT ALL before this! (I would cover my ears when my teenagers turn on the radio in the car). And how do you explain your being glued to the computer in your waking hours, no longer interested in anything else you were before, such as reading, working out, and … your own children? And how do you explain your silly grin while in front of the computer? How much longer can you pretend you are addicted to Facebook? Finally, how do you explain to your family you are going to a Demi Lovato concert?
Betsy #31 -- I was gone most of yesterday, visiting with family out of town and simply didn’t have time to check in here until at lunch time today (from work) and saw you post about “How Great Thou Art”. It was the first I’d heard of David singing this song. Now, I’ve said before that I’m an old rocker at heart. Aerosmith, Queen, Led Zeppelin -- yeah, that’s my kind of gig. David is that rare talent, that kind of once in a millennium soul that transcends musical, social, and generational barriers. I’m not big on listening to hymns, but I thought this might be something my mom would enjoy. But of course, I had to listen to it myself first, make sure it was ‘good enough’ for Mom. After listening through it 3 times, using an odd number of tissues, I finally remembered why I wanted to listen to it and sent it off to my mother. “The Voice” has moved my soul once more. So, thank you Betsy for posting your message about sending that to someone. My apologies to anyone who may have mentioned it before Betsy’s post, but hers is the one that lead me to it.
How Great ‘The Voice’…
YJ>/b> Too, too funny!
A few things are in my favor…I’m a high school math teacher, so I am exposed to lots of current stuff through my students and the younger teachers that I work with (so I can at least claim!)
Also, I am a CPA and have year round clients that I would have reason to tend to at my computer. Tax season was pretty tough last year and this year because I actually had to MAKE TIME TO ACTUALLY DO THE WORK!
I also have a friend who sends/fowards me TONS of those funny e-mails. I have them “channeled” into one folder that I always keep open while at my computer. That explains my sudden outbursts of uncontrollable laughter!
However, while these things “work in my favor” to feed my ODD, they do allow me to overindulge at times at the expense of work, cleaning, and yes, even my husband and children! Yikes!
YJfod LOL! Perhaps we need to have a self-help book to solve the intractable problems you pose. Indeed, how the heck do you explain this? How do you avoid the thought that maybe your loved ones are planning an intervention haha! Oh my!
“I try never to question what feeds my soul…” -- Rascal
Kurt1960 -- love your story. Yeah, the old hymns have new meaning for me these days too.
Afternoon/Evening to all the House Residents.
I’m sending well wishes and good vibes to all who are experiencing some of the more bumpy parts of life’s road.

I was laughing out loud at this… so true. My children are grown with kids of their own. I overheard my son telling my brother that I know more about pop music than he, I was explaining to him who Lady Gaga was, so it’s hard to hide.
I’m on spring break vacation right along with hubby so it’s been tough getting on line.
SF and Jello -- you had me cracking up… flawless skin and the absence of pimples… is that what they see? hmmmm…
vee -- I get an error trying to access those links. I’ll go to FOD… at me own peril.
Rapture, So the forwarded funny emails can explain your sudden outbursts of uncontrollable laughter. But how do you explain the sudden outbursts of uncontrollable sobbing when you listen to Save the Day? How do your explain to your husband why you keeping burning the vegetables you are making for dinner? Why are you no longer grocery-shopping? Why no more clean underwear for everyone? What about the urge to rearrange the CDs in the stores’ display case? When is the next intervention session in TDC, LIZ?
Hellooooo? Anybody home? Where is everyone? It’s really strange when a couple of hours go by without a comment…looks lonely. But I guess “real life” does happen to us now & then, when we can tear ourselves away from David.
Good night to everyone! For David…
Dear Lord,
Please take care of David.
We love you madly, and so happy you are home even if just for a few days! Contigo siempre, con amor!
YJfod -- my friend, you are out-of-control! I don’t want an intervention and I’m quite happy with my lovely obsession. But I will be without internet access this next long weekend. Four days without David! I may not live to tell the tale!
Sweet dreams SF!
David is at a Fallout Boys concerts as we type.
does this boy ever sleep ?
liz Yes, this has become my mantra…
“I try never to question what feeds my soul…” -- Rascal
YJ “How do your explain to your husband why you keeping burning the vegetables you are making for dinner? Why are you no longer grocery-shopping? Why no more clean underwear for everyone?”
Welllllll, I’m somehow managing to keep just enough plates spinning to avoid too much questioning. I’m sure the family senses something, they just can’t put their finger on it.
When I recently remarked to someone that I had no specific talent, they replied, “Yes you do! You’re so good at organizing events and things, you’re so responsible and so together…” My answer was that I’m really good at appearing to be all those things! That’s my talent: appearing organized, efficient and together! Even my closest friends and family never seem to notice things unraveling around me.
That talent of mine will be the ruin of me. It allows me to delve deeper into the satisfaction of my ODD!
But then again…
“I try never to question what feeds my soul…” -- Rascal
and SF yes, I was just wondering that too. 2 hrs with no comments? I went searching for another thread, was sure I missed something while I went out running errands! Looks like I may have missed you!
Happy, you did it again. Your writing inspires me over and over again! Just beautiful!
Off topic but something I was thinking about today. We’re always talking about how Cook’s CD has already gone platinum and how David has sold over just 600,000 copies. There are some people who each year buy the CD by the winner of AI, whether or not they ever heard them sing and even if they never watched the show. They feel that the CD is sure to be good since it’s by the winner of AI, the same way that people go to see the movie that won the Academy Award for best picture even if they had no prior interest in seeing it before it won. With this in mind, David’s CDs were purchased by his fans but Cook’s CD sold more because they were purchased by his fans as well as those who bought it only because he won AI. This doesn’t change the numbers; it just accounts for the higher sales on Cook’s part. How’s that logic?
TOfan, vee and betsy {{{My heart goes out to you}}}}
SF #87 Been loving your new avi! and your story about getting BUSTED! HAHAHA
HopeUDance2 #92 Welcome to TCD and out of lurkdom. Please come out to play with us more often. Thank you so much for the version of “God Bless America” by David sung at a very young age. I don’t know why it’s making me cry. I’m not sad. I’m not depressed. I thing it’s the depth of his emotions in his voice at such a young age. It’s unbelievable that David Archuleta even had it at 10 years old! I really need an mp3 of this! I can’t thank you enough.
Been listening to Don’t Tell Me over and over today. Wow, what he does with that song at that age is amaaaazing. He could not have been but 11 or 12.
Just saw the photos. I think it best to just offer a “no comment.” Can’t speak anyways. I may have just had a stroke.
bebereader -- We just posted almost identical comments only about different songs. Guess it really doesn’t matter what he sings.
YJ…your comments only mirror so many of us…how can that be? Maybe somehow I will have to blame sweet David…
Betsy…if you are around…it is so nice to see your son in your avi…all the best to him for his future recovery. He brings us down to earth…
The photos. I really wasn’t going to comment. But…between the Malaysia DLG and those photos, I’m going straight to hell -- I just know it. SF, I’ll be waving to you, and you sure as heck won’t be alone.
Hi… just watched this from Britains Got Talent and wanted to share…

emmiegirl -- Just saw the photos. I think it best to just offer a “no comment.” Can’t speak anyways. I may have just had a stroke.
Those pictures have done a number on us…lol.
bebereader -- I like your logic … I was one of those that bought the winners cd every year, except for season 7. I took it personal the way the messed with our David to set Cook to win…IMO.
djafan, thanks for the video, awesome. She was amazing.
dfafan #165 -- Oh my, I just watched that 3 times. The moment when she first sings is just jaw-dropping. Thanks for sharing.
marlie7 #164
You are definitely not alone between the Malaysia DLG and those photos. I’ve been watching that Malaysia DLG like it’s a guilty pleasure. Whew! What is that move at .28? And that head whip at 2.13 liked to gave me a whiplash! lol. The whole thing lacks mercy.
emmiegirl and davidfanliz -- that was so totally unexpected…blew me away… I want to see what happens with her.
Angelica -- The whole thing lacks mercy…lol
need to go watch that DLG again.
djafan,
Thanks for that video of Susan Boyles. She was magnificent! I hope she gets to perform in theater. What a gem!
djafan Wow! Thanks for the Susan Boyle video. Actually cried. I find I’m doing a lot more of that since David! I watched it a few times. Can’t wait to share it.
Also, very cool how you just validated bebe’s theory in just a matter of minutes. Gotta love this place! (for so many reasons.)
emmiegirl #162 “bebereader -- We just posted almost identical comments only about different songs. Guess it really doesn’t matter what he sings.”
No, it doesn’t matter. He could sing the phone book, as Randy always said. I’d be perfectly happy with that, actually.
djxox #103 That Do Re Mi video was fabulous and so inspirational! Would love to see Julie Andrews face when she watches this! Thank you for sharing! I will now go on to share it with some friends whose day will be made brighter thanks to you!
This is random but random is good sometimes. When my phone rang today, I looked at the Caller ID like I usually do. It said “Salt Lake City, UT”. My daughter, who apparently looked at it too, said “Mom, you’d better get it, it’s David Archuleta.” I grabbed the phone when I saw UT as I pulled myself together and said very calmly to my daughter “No. David lives in Murray.” (It was a bank, trying to sell me insurance.)
I tried to stay away from FOD today but y’all wouldn’t let me! Is he for real? Is that really sweat (THUD) or is it rain? I mean it was raining. Rain or sweat; it really doesn’t matter. It has the same affect in the pics. He has to realize what he he does to us, he has to!
goboywonder #160 LMAO! “I don’t fight it or try to analyse it.
I DON’T CARE IF IT MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL,
Cos, with you I can FLYYYYY.
How? I don’t. If Works For Me, it Works For Me.”
David is so generous. Not only is he the cause of our ODD but he also offers us the solution through his lyrics!
djafan#165 I just watched the clip you sent from “Britain’s Got Talent” I don’t think I ever saw Simon smile like that. She has a beautiful voice. That song was from the soundtrack of “Les Miserables” that David talks about. Hmm, nice song, too. I can see why David got hooked!
I’m off to watch KL DLG again.
Angelica: I know exactly which little move you are talking about. I saw that earlier and thought…well, I won’t even say. I’m trying to emulate SF and be really, really good. LOL
bebereader, just took your suggestion and went to watch a KL DLG. How did I miss this? Good night! And I’m suppose to get some sleep now? Yikes!
I just forced myself to rewatch, Angelica, ummm…
This was posted back in January, but I just re-discovered it and thought I’d re-share it! It’s that amazing pianist, Advait Sarkar, with his synthesis of Crush -- David Archuleta and Canon in D -- Johann Pachelbel. He has some other cool stuff on his page also.
http://www.youtube.com/user/AdvaitSarkar
Okay, off to find KL DLG!
rapture, here is the DLG link, hope it works. If not search youtube for David Archuleta Showcase -- Don’t Let Go. Enjoy!

Angelica -- which KL DLG are you watching?
bebereader -- That song was from the soundtrack of “Les Miserables” that David talks about. Hmm, nice song, too. I can see why David got hooked!
Because of David I came upon that video. I’ve discovered many things because of David.
emmiegiel Okay, this is too much! I was just coming back to ask for a link to DLG because I was having trouble finding a good quality one and PRESTO! My request was answered before I asked!
Thank you, Thank you!
I just came back from KL…I mean I just watched the KL DLG video. I can’t even think straight. What is he doing now, moving that song up another knotch with his dance moves? I’m not even sure if they are dance moves or body language. Did you read the comments? People are saying it’s the best DLG so far, even w/o the line from The Fray! Angelica I saw the places you pinpointed for us and will raise you one. Check out the walk at 1:30.
angelica/marlie7#173- I have been busy today…watched the aforementioned video only once and only briefly…. couldn’t stay to finish it and was distracted when I played it for the minute or so… know what is sad? I think I know what move you are talking about
going off to confirm….
rapture -- this one isn’t the best quality, but it is plenty good enough to enjoy. If someone knows of a better quality, please post.
Nevermind… I found it… where are juliebugs ice cubes when you need them, I mean icbergs….lol
djafan #178
“Because of David I came upon that video. I’ve discovered many things because of David.”
I’m not surprised at all. He’s done the same for me. He never steers us wrong.
“Check out the walk at 1:30.”
What the heck was that at 2:40 ?
Holy Moly.
That’s not even PG-13 now…
Where was the road paved to hell again ? I have a trip to take.
Okay, okay Bebe I’m at the poker table too. I see that walk and I’ll raise you 1:13-1:19 what was that move?
Well it moved me. All I can say is:
♪♫ So strong, so strong, is what I’m feeling
It’s tooooooo much, tooooooo much… ♫♪
Life. Is. Good.
bebereader -- or the jerk of the mic at 2:55, and the right leg movement at 3:04, oh, and the way he crawls up on to the mic from 3:26 on. And that’s just for starters.
Iceberg to the rescue.
I’m still dead.
But what a way to go….
whimper
emmiegirl Yes, that quality was just fine. I was thinking at first that the sound could be better, but then I don’t think I HEARD anything at all once my eyes focused.
now dawn I have to watch it again?! just to see 2:40! I’ll probably just fast-forward it. **hee hee**
Havene’t seen the KL DLG yet -- I have to pick myself up off the floor just now. Against the above mentioned advice, I peeked at the FOD photos. Ok, maybe I stared a little bit.
Those are fifty kinds of wrong.
Why? Why? Just why?
I will keep my innermost thoughts to myself. But I am quite sure I am not alone in my thinking.
Thanks to all for the kind words.
I am all about the positivity today.
juliebug, full of mercy.
fast forward ? I’ve stopped it and replayed it like 20 times… I can’t breath…
Have you guys seen this one? Not the best audio, but the visual….in HD….
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKt5g57UHIY&feature=related
Yayyyyyyyyyyy! Dawn is back!
Let’s just say that DLG is a very sexy song. Hmmm…funny how I never thought of DLG that way when I first listened to the CD back in November. Watching David perform all of the songs on his CD is like heaven! He breathes life into them, and they take on a life of their own, not that I didn’t love them before. He’s just amazing onstage…absotively amazing. And yes ladies, I caught 1:13-1:19 (oh my!), 2:40, 2:55 and 3:26.
holy crap.. thank’s a lot dja.. now it’s at 2:34 .. almost miss it if you don’t really WATCH. But yikes…
this takes my avi to whole new levels I didn’t know existed.
Could you just see the look on Simon’s face if he did THAT on AI in May? Bwahahahaha!
**fanning myself now**
Okay now what would be a real shame is if “somebody out there” figured out a way to put the sound from a better recording in with this video. Because then I would have to watch it on a constant loop and let’s just say there would be no meals and no clean laundry in this house ever again.
Wait, isn’t David singing to the pre-recorded track? So…hmmm…it should match exactly with his CD if not a “livelier” tour version. If someone doesn’t step up here, I may have to learn a new trick. hmmm…
sorry…but I got tired of switching windows.. it’s just too much.
seriously.
there has to be a law against moves like this.
Dear David.. what exactly did you mean when you said your fans were “friendly” ? Are you testing this theory ? If this is a test, is it a test of the emergency broadcast system ? If this is an actual emergency.. .what am I supposed to do ? Is there a survival kit or something ?
When I first started watching the KL DLG video, my first thought was that poor mic stand. By the end of the video, I thought the mic stand was pretty lucky.
Dawn65 #185, “That’s not even PG-13 now…” I actually didn’t think it was PG-13 before KL.
In Reno, my daughter (19), who did not follow David’s progression on the tour stopped dancing and singing during when he was performing this and asked me, “Did he just thrust?”.
When I heard that DLG was on his setlist, I was like are they sure? I don’t know if David is aware of what he’s doing during this song.
Bebereader- sexy and full of passion…that stance at the mic… is something else.
juliebug to the rescue!!! first the pictures and now DLG…
juliebug.. I’m not even sure David knew his body MOVED like that back in May on AI.
I’m QUITE sure I wasn’t aware of it. Because well he was only 17…and that’s just go to jail go directly jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200.
He seriously is totally oblivious to his … hmmm.. going with politically correct.. “body language”.
oh my gosh.. goboywonder.. “I don’t know if David is aware of what he’s doing during this song.” .. you just frolicked through my mind !!!
I need a drink and possibly a smoke after that. And I quit smoking.
That slow hip and thigh movement could and should be registered lethal weapons.
That’s about as clean as I can be right now.
dawn65 #200 -- lol,you are too much!
juliebug -- I was thinking the same thing. I want to change my vote to him singing THIS on AI.
Wasn’t it on the Ed Sullivan’s show that they only showed Elvis from the hip up?
LOL !!!
This is the happiest I’ve felt in about a week. I’m no longer worried about David and the Disney image. I believe our boy is burning out of THAT mold . a LOT faster than one might imagine.
no…
definately NOT… Disney
THUD
thrust… on the youtube comments they’re calling it hip action…
some body language… does he not know? What is he thinking? because his legs, hips, feet, hands seem to be responding to something.. .
Ok… I’m joining SF and others.
oh, and dja, forgot to thank you for the HD!
I’m going to bed now, dazed and confused.
No. wait. I meant from the waist up.
djafan #165--Thanks for the video of Susan Boyle, beautiful voice,
I especially enjoyed one of the remarks posted in the comments,
“God always reveals his hidden treasures when the world needs
them the most” Remind you of someone else we all know and
dearly love?
This is crazy. I feel like I’m in a time-warp. (I mean that in the best possible way.)
I’m quite sure David has no idea what he’s giving off here. He has that same innocent smile at the end. Very amusing. (the smile.)
goboywonder -- Then I guess I’d better not tell you what my 21 year old niece said when I emailed this to her at college. erm…..
betsy . April 14, 2009 at 1:32 am .
I need a drink and possibly a smoke after that. And I quit smoking.
I’ll join you…I also quit smoking….lol
djafan #209 “some body language… does he not know? What is he thinking? because his legs, hips, feet, hands seem to be responding to something…”
I really don’t think he knows. He’s not experienced and he doesn’t watch videos of himself and maybe hasn’t made the connection.
The transformation from AI, even as late as the finale to now is downright astonishing. I got on the ride mainly because I fell in love with his amazing voice and charming personality and had to have more of it, forever. His generosity of spirit, kindness to others and ummm ‘body language’ are the icing the cake. He keeps stepping it up a beat with each performance. I can’t even imagine watching him perform this song one year from now. Heaven help us!
dja or anyone. When I watch that link at #193 in HD, the screen sort of does this “freeze frame” thing. I even tried waiting till it was fully loaded. It runs smoothly in “ordinary mode” but not HD. Anyone have a fix for that?
juliebug, oh do tell!
no emmiegirl.. Dawn is only human..
DAVID… is too much.
I used to think he absolutely KNEW what he was doing.. and now.. I’m convinced he has NO clue.
I mean.. he just took mic abuse to a WHOLE new level.
I’d try watching ala Abrra with no sound..but I’m pretty sure they’d be scraping me off the floor.
I need a life vest..or a lobotomy.
My mind is spinning… there’s something so fundamentally wrong with this…but I can’t help it.
He’s totally paralyzed me with this latest discovery. I just can’t figure it out. I’m not even gonna try. I’m just going to enjoy the ride. Ptthh… who needs Disneyworld.. this ride has more thrills.
back from confirming… had to watch it more than once to be sure…. of this I am sure… if it is true that there is someone with authority over him that doesn’t want him to be provocative… he will never sing that song in public again… if he does… all bets are off.
goboywonder…”I really don’t think he knows. He’s not experienced and he doesn’t watch videos of himself and maybe hasn’t made the connection.” .. and let’s hope he never figures it out !!
There’s no WAY he’s made the connection. He’d be mortified.
Dear David.. please oh please don’t read this site tonight…
He has to know. He has to. He is allowing himself this. And he HAS to see the reactions he is getting from his fans.
And yet he keeps tipping them all over. He’ll be the death of us all.
Is it wrong that I rewatched 1:13-1:19 5 times before I got throught the whole thing the first time?
happy “had to watch it more than once to be sure” .. just as long as your frequent watching was for scientific purposes.. it’s all good
I was thinking the same thing.. do you think there’s someone in the backlight getting ready to bring that to his attention.. just like the fact he says “awesome” to much ?
Dawn65 #220,
“I mean.. he just took mic abuse to a WHOLE new level.” ROTFL
Dawn -- DO NOT WATCH IT WITH NO SOUND. Big mistake! Trust me…
goboywonder -- I can’t tell you what she said. It’s not fit for polite company.
betsy.. I don’t think he does. I dont think his mind works that way. He’s aware that he transforms on stage…and feels like a different side of him is revealed…but I don’t think he’s even aware that side of him exists yet. He doesn’t understand some things aren’t conscious…as much as instinctive. He just lets go. He doesn’t afford himself time to think…he just goes with it.
betsy223- of course he knows… we know he knows…. he knows he knows…. soon he will be on stage and he will admit that he knows and he will pour it on….. and then………
If happy #221 is right, we’d better download this version of DLG and kee it for posterity in case it gets taken off youtube.
I’m not entirely sure whether or not he knows what he’s doing. I’ll have to think about that. I mean he hears the audience’s reaction, doesn’t he? Does he think they are only responding to his voice?
Happy -- you are making me laugh out loud.
“back from confirming”
You WERE gone quite awhile! The FBI should be so thorough.
Oh -- I believe he will sing that song in public again.
And it will keep getting better. It always does.
Didn’t he tone it down a bit when his mother first joined him on the tour. But I think the pull was to great by the time he got to Reno and YOWZA!
rapture -- it’s not doing that when I watch in HD.
goboywonder . April 14, 2009 at 1:40 am .
He’s not experienced…
Well I hear that he’s unaware, but you don’t need actual experience… I’m a goner!
juliebug, oh do tell!
Yes julibug, we want to know!
dawn65 . April 14, 2009 at 1:40 am .
I’m just going to enjoy the ride. Ptthh… who needs Disneyworld.. this ride has more thrills.
Some ride….lol … dawn65 is back!
Well, all I can say is that if David’s “people” read this thread, we can say “good-bye” to performances like this of DLG. They’ll be a thing of the past. Perhaps we should have a secret passageway to threads with these discussions so we don’t shoot ourselves in the foot!
**here’s hoping there’s some distraction to keep his people from reading this thread tonight…**
juliebug, I’m fanning just at the thought of it not being mentionable.
Happy -- go on ~ finish that thought! I am on pins and needles!
I’m with dawn at 227:
…”I dont think his mind works that way. He’s aware that he transforms on stage…and feels like a different side of him is revealed…but I don’t think he’s even aware that side of him exists yet. He doesn’t understand some things aren’t conscious…as much as instinctive. He just lets go. He doesn’t afford himself time to think…he just goes with it.”
rapture233- they don’t need to read our thread to know how people will react… they just have to have eyes without blinders…. where are the blinder wearers now?
It is my fervent hope that he is allowed to express himself through his music freely and openly in all facets. If he is, he will rule it all.
betsy -- “You WERE gone quite awhile! The FBI should be so thorough.” I laughed so loud I woke my dog up!
Julie, just maybe a cleaned up version? Pretty please.
I bet I know! She wants to “take him out to dinner”.
Am I right?!
Bebe
“If happy #221 is right, we’d better download this version of DLG and keep it for posterity in case it gets taken off youtube.”
Done! (at first viewing!)
rapture/dawn- teenage boys?… they ALL know what they are doing… every last one of them…
betsy235- I can’t finish the thought… there aren’t enough puns to pull it off….
Dawn65 Freak Disney. David can do anything. He can do Disney one day, and then sing at the United Nations the next, then do DLG in KL, then the following day he can sing “Let’s Talk About Love” for the Care Bear bunch. On Day five he gives us ZG. He’s so versatile that nothing….Disney or anything else can define him.
Dawn65 #222,…”I really don’t think he knows. He’s not experienced and he doesn’t watch videos of himself and maybe hasn’t made the connection.” .. and let’s hope he never figures it out !!”
I won’t tell him if you don’t.
betsy.. has me snorting with the FBI line… I can’t stop laughing.. at ALL right now.
and happy “they just have to have eyes without blinders…. where are the blinder wearers now?”… in my head was the Friends episode with Pheobe .. “MY EYES…MY EYES… MY EYES”
OH LADIES.. I really need to go to bed. If I watch this one more time.. I won’t go to bed…I’ll call in sick tomorrow..and watch this video all day.
We do need a secret portal..we know we have lurkers. We’ll have to come up with a code ODD language.
you know.. like .. I just woke up the dog, and I need ice for my tea.. David’s performance has left me feeling a tad parched.
Been thinking…..
I don’t think knows EXACTLY what he’s doing.
I think it ‘feels so good’ to him to be out there letting go and that feeling is so empowering for him that he doesn’t think past it to realize EXACTLY what his ‘letting go’ is doing to anyone watching.
How about that?
bebereader -- yeah, he could do all that now, at 18! He is sumthin’!
happy . April 14, 2009 at 1:57 am .
rapture/dawn- teenage boys?… they ALL know what they are doing… every last one of them…
I’m with happy on this one…it’s physically out of their control, I have 3 brothers, a son, and 4 grandsons.
bebereader -- it’s saved!

You’re right…we fret for nothing.
happy
“rapture/dawn- teenage boys?… they ALL know what they are doing… every last one of them…”
I’m not so sure it’s conscious with David. Remember how when he’s asked about all the screaming girls in those interviews? He answers that he is happy to see their support and that they enjoy his music. I believe that he actually chooses to believe that it’s only about his music.
When he sees/feels the reaction from the crowd, I think he chooses to believe that it’s JUST about the music. I don’t think that at this point (level of sophistication??) David is able to see it any other way -- without self-combusting, anyway.
Happy,
We need to come up with a name for that newest move of his. You know the one. It involves the movement of the right thigh.
I believe he starts that one right out of the gate. Maybe at around the 27 second mark and he keeps incorporating it throughout.
Not that I am paying much attention to it or anything.
So ladies ~are we hoping for a performance like this DLG on AI??
“the way he crawls up on to the mic ” ….lololol.
this would be the end of Paula for sure !!
bebereader -- yeah, he could do all that now, at 18! He is sumthin’! (this was in reference to your post #242.)
oh .. goboywonder.. my lips are sealed !! When he calls me later.. I promise not to bring it up .. LOL !!!
happy… maybe all teenage boys know what they’re thinking… but pulling it off is a WHOLE other thing. I don’t know many grown men that can move like that.. on a stage.
now I’m making myself snort.. I’ve crossed into a bad place… and with that… I’m bidding goodnight.
Thanks SO much for the fun tonight ladies. it was great to be back.
And yes.. Disney won’t be able to keep me back anymore. I can always count on David to rope me back in somehow.

Laughing so hard here at 2am. If anyone wakes up, I’m busted! Actual tears here. “just too much, just too much!”
ladies- there is a new thread… McFly.. now that should be a fun discussion…
to those of you who are not convinced…. I have a bridge to sell you.
betsy- none of us are paying much attention… bwhahahahahaha……
happy birthday dj!!
good night all. thanks for the fun.
Hey DJ ~ I believe it would be the end of Ryan as well!
This just in:
“Ryan Seacrest quits all four jobs and follows the David Archuleta Tour”
News at eleven.
a tad parched? ROFL Okay, that’s a new way of looking at it! LOL
thanks again happy!!
betsy~ROFLMAO …
rapture 248, “I’m not so sure it’s conscious with David. Remember how when he’s asked about all the screaming girls in those interviews? He answers that he is happy to see their support and that they enjoy his music. I believe that he actually chooses to believe that it’s only about his music.”
I think when you also take into account of David’s self impression. He doesn’t thinks he’s cute or handsome, he doesn’t think he’s cool. He just begining to realize that people actually come to enjoy his MUSIC.
Another thing, he said he communicate/express himself better with music and all that THAT has to come out someway. After all he is an 18 year old male.
Give David a stage and a microphone and he enters another dimension. I think alot of what he does on stage is unconscious, reactionary. Just don’t know which parts. Don’t care, can’t stop watching or listening. He takes me to that dimension with him.
I have to be at work in approximately 6 hours. WTF?
betsy -- rofl, and on that note, I bid you all good night!
emmiegirl~would love a split screen the ENTIRE performance…
Betsy -- I don’t think dinner even entered her mind, rofl! erm… “wonderWALL of stars”.
Happy birthday DJ. Are you old enough for David yet?
Julie -- I am sure that it didn’t.
But about that wall thing….
Happy B-day DJ.
This has been fun. Let’s do it again! G’nite.

goodnight to all…. I needed the laughter

dj? djfan? It’s your birthday?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Look for something special in your mail box.
G’Nite all!
thanks for all your birthday wishes !!..and sooo many treats today !!
betsy~old enough !!
dj Happy Happy Birthday!
First I’d like to send my thoughts and prayers to my fellow TDCers who are going through difficult times. (((hugs)))
And Valbraz, I’m relieved to hear that you are safe after that very scary encounter. (shudder) I’m with you, I feel Angels do come in all shapes and sizes and I’m so glad that you were surrounded by them that fateful night. Betsy- your avatar is so sweet.
Part of me doesn’t want to speak up about a little bit of info I overheard about David today, because now everyone will know I’m an eavesdropper and a gossip. :p
But when it comes to David I can’t help it. Here goes- As I was working today, I overheard one of my co-workers mention that David Archuleta was on his plane today, which took me by surprise because I thought he was still in Utah. Well, he went on saying how David looked exhausted and some fans had spotted him and rushed over to him. After being very gracious, David went with airport security. My co-worker was very surprised that David had no entourage, and in fact, was traveling alone. Moments before the plane took off, David boarded and sat in the first row of first class and after the flight, David was allowed to disembark first.
Later in the evening, I tried to casually get some more information from him. Drat, I wasn’t pushy enough, because when I mentioned David too him, he pretty much repeated what I had overheard. (He doesn’t know I suffer from ODD)
Tomorrow, I’m going to sign up for his project, so I’ll have another opportunity and try to get more info from him.
Cutter -- Where was the plane going TO? Because David was spotted at a concert in SLC tonight.
Angelica -- this has David speaking at the beginning of
Be Still My Soul
http://www.mediafire.com/?gmf2zmefzot
Juliebug#277
The plane was headed to Salt Lake. And, David couldn’t have been too exhausted because he made it to the concert that night.
Now I am going to be a bit late for work this morning. There is a video that needs watching.
I had an incredible dream about David last night/this morning. So vivid.
DJ ,,, Happy birthday,
