A (Fan) Tale of Two Cities
Part I - Edinburgh
The Edinburgh Corn Exchange was rustic and agricultural. It was originally a building where farmers and merchants traded cereal grains. Such trade was common in towns and cities of Great Britain until the late 19th century. As trade became centralized in the 20th century many such buildings began to be used for other purposes such as meetings, banquets, and concerts.
We arrived by train at the Slateford stop on the Scots Rail line between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh Waverly stations. It was a two-minute walk to the venue and people were streaming in by foot from five different directions.
In line waiting to pick up our tickets, we talked to people around us. Most didn’t know who David was. One girl said she learned a little about David, that he was on AI, after she found out he was opening for McFly. Some concert goers had been waiting in line at the venue since 7:00 a.m. that day. The venue was standing-room only. We were moshed with mostly 15-20-year-old women, a sprinkling of males (probably 1:10 ratio male to female) and a few concert goers over 30.
Next to me were three girls (15-20 age range) who came together, who cheered at every song, who jumped enthusiastically to Zero Gravity and who sang Crush. During My Hands, the audience was clapping overhead and cheering unreservedly at David’s a cappella vocals. Some of his best a cappella work.
After the show, I asked the girls next to me how they knew Crush. They said from YouTube surfing and they loved his Crush video. I asked them if they had seen the ALTNOY video and they said yes, it was “brilliant.”
Also, I saw McFly fans that were, obviously, waiting through David’s set for McFly. Several groups of girls near us who came together, at first were talking a little to each other but eventually became engaged in listening and watching David through Touch My Hand. By My Hands, they were clapping overhead and cheering. Zero Gravity had them jumping up and down and cheering even louder.
Of interest, next to us was a couple in their late 20s. The guy was behind the girl with his arms around her waist and his head above her head and he occasionally rested his cheek against her temple. They were obviously “in love” and their affection was quite lovely. I glanced occasionally at them. During Touch My Hand, they seemed more engrossed with each other. As David’s songs progressed, their eyes were on the stage and they swayed with his arms around her in rhythm to the music. By Zero Gravity, they were bopping up and down with the laddie’s hands on the lassie’s waist. At the end, they had separated and were applauding.
David’s reception at Edinburgh exceeded our wildest wishes. As always, it is difficult to visualize David’s final show in the U.K. He builds energy and ups his performance at every venue. And, the best is yet to come.
The Edinburgh Audience:
Oh Kizzi, your Tale of Two Cities has me smiling the biggest smile. I loved the fan reactions, especially the couple in love. This is the group I hope David can capture. Those twenty-somethings are a tough bunch.
Aww! The couple jumping during ZG! I love it! The love birds bonded even more during THM! It is amazing what this young man can do….he is bring people closer. Thanks for your story! I have a smile too brooklyndawn!
whoops..i mean “he is bringing” above, sorry…..(note to self, must proofread).
Great story, kizzi. I am excited for the next installment. So sweet that you included the couple in love!
Just wondered if anyone here has read any of the Diana Gabaldon books?
Sidenote: Did anyone see the new photo of David over at Snarky’s? It is another photo of him in the lotus position. I wonder if he has been meditating all along. He is a natural. I remember the one from last year but this is definately new.
I’m loving these concert recaps, Kizzi! It’s so good to hear the positive outpouring of love and appreciation for our David.
Didn’t realize this is the end! So he’s coming back stateside?
We miss you, David!
*Ugh! Hope that didn’t make me sound like that Twitter Stalker.*
HG, You could never sound like that TS!
I have a hard time even writing that word anymore. Especially after seeing the photo of him with David, arm around his shoulder, wearing David’s scarf.
I believe he has four more concerts in the UK. Not that I am counting or anything.
Then, on to Manila and JR!!
Kizzi…this is what I wanted so badly, to have the story on all of the surroundings of his venues, the first reactions to his music and the reactions as he sang his songs! Wonderful, for so many reasons, but these are the moments with the UK people seeing him for the first time and feeling his presence as he sings that is so exciting.
Kizzi….you nailed it! This is history and you are the historian because there will never be another introduction to Scotland and England and I love both those places so very much myself. I don’t believe that anyone else even UK journalists will have anything for us that begins with the description of the venue, to the interactions with the soon to be David fans (definitely mcFly fans as well).
Once again, thank you, David conquering the UK is a challenge well fought and won. My best sought after moments are when you see the people who are barely paying attention slowly realizing that something wonderful is going on and it crescendos from there.
Kizzi…did I thank you yet? haha…All the videos in the world can not replace actual writings of the adventures.
For example, the movie Twilight versus the book. My daughter saw the movie and is now reading the book and the book is well known to be even better.
KIZZI – you had me smiling non-stop with your tale. Cannot wait for the end installment.
BETSY – “…and on to Manila & JR!” LOL Now that had me giggling like a school girl! As if David is coming to Manila to see me LMAO.
Oooops, hope that does not that read like TwitterStalker?
David searching for a bargain priced breakfast today has me cracking up. He is so *frugal*!
Love that he is so into plaid lately. He looks good in it.
SB – this bodes well for your gift!
Betsy: I have all the DG books and have read the first two! “Outlander” and “Dragonfly in Amber”. I have re-read Outlander more than once-it is my favorite. It was difficult for me to give up Claire and Jamie….I wanted their story to go on forever. The stone henge intrigues me very much. I would love to visit one day.
I also have “The Outlandish Companion” by DG. I am a total fan!
I believe book titles are supposed to be underlined…but I have not mastered that “complex” technology yet!
Kizzi – thanks for your great stories! One question I have is: Where did all the craziness from McFly go? We heard so much about the neekidness and the harassing of opening acts (run-by kisses, etc.) Did any of that materialize?
jello #11 – Yay! I have all of her books and have read them all numerous time. Outlander is still my favorite.
Love all the Scottish history.
And Jamie………
Yup…Outlander totally took me away to another time and place….I did not want to come back!
Great reading….
Hi everyone just wanted to tell you that I just got back from the UK. Met Chenson, Nes, Anny, Annalisa, Ratna, Marisa Ann and her mother Ann Marie, LC and her husband Joe. Saw and talked to David in Portsmouth and in London. He told us he is headed to Manila before coming home. Both concerts were Heavenly he is just so much fun to watch and his voice is the best I have heard in a long time. He told us he was sorry for being pitchy at both concerts. We told him he sounded just fine. As to the crowd reaction WOW is all I can say they looovvveeeddd him!! It was interesting to note that in Portsmouth there were only about 20 guys there but in London it seemed as though about a fourth of the crowd was guys.
When we met David after Portsmouth it was just me and my friend out there. It was right after his set and he stayed and talked to us for about 40-45 minutes it was incredible. In London there were about 15-20 of us and he as usual took his time with all of his fans. There was this cute British girl there with her mother and when David stood in front of her she was shaking so much and was crying it was so cute to see how sweet David was with her. I think she cried for about 20 minutes. I thought it was darling. You just have to love David!!!
Great post Kizzi! If you open yourself up for one second and are honest about it, he has you! Done deal! So happy for the him and how he is being received (but how could it possibly be any other way.) I think some of his best performances have been on this tour. Just wish we had you and Mr Kizzi at all the concert’s for better video!!
Lyrics to I’m Going In For The Kill from snarky’s
(I like it!)
We can fight our desires
But when we start making fires
We get ever so hot
Whether we like it or not
They say we can love who we trust
But what is love without lust?
Two hearts with accurate devotions
And what are feelings without emotions?
I’m going in for the kill
I’m doing it for a thrill
Oh I’m hoping you’ll understand
And not let go of my hand
(x2)
I hang my hopes out on the line
Will they be ready for you in time
If you leave them out too long
They’ll be withered by the sun
Full stops and exclamation marks
My words stumble before I start
How far can you send emotions?
Can this bridge cross the ocean?
I’m going in for the kill
I’m doing it for a thrill
Oh I’m hoping you’ll understand
And not let go of my hand
(x2)
Let’s go to war
To make peace
Let’s be cold
To create heat
I hope in darkness
We can see
And you’re not blinded by the light from me
I’m going in for the kill
I’m doing it for a thrill
Oh I’m hoping you’ll understand
And not let go of my hand
emmiegirl – I like it too!
In other news:
They closed down 2 school districts within a thirty mile radius of me.
Due to H1N1.
Or the fear of it. They are awaiting test results.
kizzi, nice review. i esp. enjoyed the video of the crowd.
gemzone01 #15, meeting david twice … how lucky!! from your report it sounds like he’s going to travel directly from the UK to Manila. did i read that correct?
The latest version of the “duet” is a joke, much worse than the first leak. If this is the itunes version, I will not be purchasing. Did they see all the comments on line about David vs Miley singing and decide to phase him into the background?!
What, like they are doing him a favor? Sorry for the rant!
“If this is the itunes version, I will not be purchasing”
This is indeed the itunes version, David is pretty much cut out except for some overlapping backup vocals. Dubbed as a duet.
I didn’t purchase either.
Thanks everyone for the kind comments. I have to say I didn’t know what to expect. In my concert going days I don’t remember an opening act getting this type of response. All I can say is the Scots are such friendly, fun loving people.
dfLiz: There wasn’t any craziness from the McFly guys at the 2 shows I attended during David’s set (darn!) I think they mentioned David in passing during their set but nothing over the top at all.
gemzone01: Your shows sounded awesome and to spend time with other David fans and also all that face-to-face talking to David must have been glorious.
Just thinking…If there is one song that sums up how people feel when they meet David, it’s the 1958 classic by the Teddy Bears called “To Know Him is to Love Him”. The line that sticks out is “Just to see him smile, makes my life worthwhile”. That seems to be the case everywhere he goes, and why not? David’s smile is the messenger of his genuine warmth and good will. While most people have to use oratory to communicate, David just has to smile and look at you to tell you all you need to know. David instictively goes to that place where we are all the same, no matter where we are from.
Kizzi: Love your “tale”. Eagerly awaiting part 2! We were so lucky that you were there and that you’re such a good story teller and Mr. Kizzi with his “Youtube poster”!
gemzone01 #15 wow! So, we need to fly to far away places to get good quality time with David? Glad that you were able to do so. Hope to hear more from you.
emmiegirl #19. “The latest version of the “duet” is a joke”… “If this is the itunes version, I will not be purchasing.”
I feel the same way.
Call me shallow, call me narrow. The money I was waiting eagerly to spend on this “duet”, would be redirected to purchase extra ALTNOYs, for gifting or keeping, instead. Doing this, I feel better. This is my own scheme to protest quietly without compromising my commitment to supporting David.
So I watched ‘Promma Mia’ and listened to the duet.
Here are my thoughts:
David was himself. He was in a recording studio in both his scenes. He was treated as a recording artist who asked Miley to duet with him. This is good exposure to Miley’s audience if they want to find out more about him on YouTube, or MySpace or Facebook or iTunes. I don’t see how this Disneyfied him; it gave him exposure while still being David Archuleta, the singer.
He sang the harmony throughout most of the song. It is a catchy and cute song. I actually liked his voice in the harmony part–very husky and smoky. I thought it was a good contrast to Miley’s voice. The song has that processed sound similar to most pop songs.
It will be interesting to see how the song is marketed now and subsequent sales and if David has a bump in sales of his singles or the album.
don’t know if everyone has seen these – here goes:
http://david-hq.org/photos/displayimage.php?album=378&pos=35
I am liking the fence picture myself.
Kizzi .. “I thought it was a good contrast to Miley’s voice. The song has that processed sound similar to most pop songs.”
So how many copies did you purchase?
It isn’t on iTunes last I checked. I’ll buy 3 copies for my granddaughters.
Yes!! My cd just arrived! Am about to give a listen. Thanks so much Abrra, Dawn, and knotliser!
And how beautiful is the cover art?!
Perfect in every way.
Oh my.
Something bout’ your beautiful faaaaaace”
These kids shows today like Icarly and Hannaah Montana insult the intelligence of their audience. The dialogue is banal, cliched, and inane. Walt Disnly, one of the great geniuses of the 20th century, would turn over in his grave if he knew that his name was associaited with this drivel.
As for David, I thought he showed some very natural acting skills, and I think that with a the right part, could do very well as an actor. Miley is a good singer but a terrible actress. The song is cute, but Disney wants there to be no question that it is HER song, and not THEIR song.
It’s all about exposure and fanbase for David,so his appearance will help him. It will be fun to look back on these appearances. It’ll be like watching Brad Pitt on “Head of the Class” or Mary Tyler Moore’s legs on a cigarette commercial before she hit the big time. Dues, dues, dues. Add “trooper” to David’s laundry list of positive qualities.
I dunno Bliss. My 13, 11, 6 and 4 year old granddaughters watch these shows. So do my 30 something daughters with them. I watched shows with my own kids that I wouldn’t watch now. I think the shows reflect the times. Even stuff I watched, “Leave It to Beaver,” “The Lone Ranger” and shows of that ilk weren’t intellectual, they taught a moral and so did “Promma Mia” just 2009 style.
oh Bliss….”As for David, I thought he showed some very natural acting skills” .. compared to iCarly.. I really agree. And he really just runs in there a very short time before taping to learn his lines and shoot the scene.
I thought he was cute.. and funny… and even blushes when he had to say the Cook line.. (watch the right cheek) .. Davey is a blusher it appears.. LOL !!!
Walt had the original Mickey Mouse Club…which showcased many bright stars of the future. Fast forward 30 years, and the New Mickey Mouse Club turned out Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
Of course that was long before YouTube, and on-demand were all the rage.
Do I think MC has the makings of a JT? Not likely.. but the next few years will be interesting to see if they can get her through the transition. Her fanbase isn’t growing as quickly as she is.. so the dynamics will be interesting to watch. Right now.. her demographics hit that 10 – 14 year olds. VERY few.. make that transition successfully.. time will tell.
David.. well he’s sitting pretty…because he can juggle many different demographics. No transition needed… just on his own merits and hard work.. and boy.. he’s a hard working guy these days.
The duet with Miley is merely like an ‘After Dinner Mint’ that he will partake in once in a while but it is not a big thing in his life.. It bears no concern or slowdown to his career but can be only positive. The duet is simple, just like the outcome.
Do you all remember when many great stars (and maybe they still do this), made an appearance on Sesame Street? Conversation with the puppets and maybe a song if memory serves me correctly. This is what big stars do…and David is right up there with the big ones.
He is moving on people, don’t let him leave you behind bogged down in a mud puddle of worries…oh what craziness comes from my typing fingers. I could say the old fashioned expression…he is going to leave you in his dust…he doesn’t worry about these things but he does have a lot of fun doing them.
I actually am ok with Miley. I also enjoyed the ‘Promma Mia’. I watched the promo a few times, with a big grin on my face. David was great. Miley was funny. The duet sounded cute.
Bliss #32 “but Disney wants there to be no question that it is HER song, and not THEIR song.” I didn’t know why Disney had to do that, because they did so at the expense of making this a much much less interesting song. Remember how everyone was commenting that it was a duet that worked? That David and Miley sounded good in the duet? Everyone was pleasantly surprised.
I am happy that I can listen to the real “duet” on Youtube, many times.
I hope he does have fun. I hope at some point they do let him get down to what he really WANTS to do though. He’s at a prime spot right now that a lot of great writers are willing and eager to work with him.
He has what it takes to be a true artist..not just a great vocalist. And right NOW.. that’s what he is.. he can sing up a storm.. his stage presence is taking off like a rocket .. but his writing .. needs help.. and he’s said as much.
I know the first album went out without him even knowing what the finished product sounded like. With David’s desire for turning out only the best he has to offer, I can’t imagine that sat very well with him. He’s already started writing for the next album.. and it’s going to again, be done in between tour stops.
I hope quality isn’t jeopardized because of that.
Do I worry about it? Like I’ve said before, I’m perfectly confident David will make it on his own merits. No worries.
To my knowledge…only 1 summer tour has sold out to date… and it kicks off next month. I hope that changes.. seriously. It has to.
I’ve read interesting reasons why fans aren’t attending.. from not liking Demi.. to having their parents make them choose between the Double D or the JB.. and the JB won. That’s one of the reasons I read DA.com.. and it’s alarming how many can’t or won’t be going for ONE reason or another.
Kizzi and Mr Kizzi thanks a lot. Did I say I luv all the videos? Part 2 please!!!
From Mcfly myspace blog http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=28129529&blogId=486729516
lack of blog, tweeting too mucg!
Howdy, Sorry I haven’t blogged for a while! Tour is going awesome. Loved the hammersmith gig last night. David Archuleta is a lovely guy, seems to be enjoying himself on tour. Glad you’re all enjoying his set, wicked voice! We’re filming for t4 now, just having breakie and getting ready. Southend tonight, oooh yeah! Anyways, sorry again for the lack of blogs. We tweet all the time though so get on twitter people! Tom X
mcfly fans do really appreciate the VOICE even the Mcfly boys too… As we said one fan at a time.
One of the comments
“i was really suprised at david. thought he was gona be poop. but he was ammmazing.
P.S. The promma mia episode is now available on US itunes not in my country (pity)… The “duet” is better than the radio version.
oh Vee.. thanks for sharing that. I squee in delight when other musicians/artists recognize the “wickedness” of the voice.
David needs more of that… his peer recognition will boost him.. FAR more then we will
Feels like I’ve been gone for so long when it’s really only been a weekend. My poor kitty had to be hospitalized this weekend with stomach issues. Seems that she swallowed something she shouldn’t have, but what? The xray was cloudy and didn’t show much. But she couldn’t eat or drink and was getting increasingly dehydrated. A few weeks ago we came home to find the cell phone charger all chewed up. (Weird…Now I can’t find my coffee maker. LOL J/K) She’s been on IV fluids, antibiotics and stomach meds for two days and is on the mend now. The vet said that she’s eating now and is ready to come home. I’m about to leave to pick her up.
Wow, so much has happened in one weekend.
Was very saddened to hear the news of David Cook’s brother passing.
Betsy: HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! I’m a May baby too, born on May 15.
Marlie7 May 1, 2009 post #199 at the “Giving Back” thread where you quoted “As one poster there said, “They are getting two headliner acts for the price of one.”
That poster was moi!!!!!
Refnaf: I’ve been reading so much about David’s eyes but have yet to witness the Archugaze in person. I’m a little weirded out to look into those eyes for fear that I’ll get stuck there. His eyes really have an unusual quality, especially when the sun shines on them.
Duet? What duet? David is singing backup for Miley in the new pop song. I’m such a sucker to hear even a smidgeon of his voice so I’m enjoying it for his lower register. I’m sure David gets some royalties for the song. I see it as David ‘coming to save the day’ by providing some much-needed substance to the song. Exposure, exposure, exposure..is all good.
The problem with giving TMI in Twitter is that people begin to believe that they are entitled to more and more. And when does it end? I was all set to get a Twitter account when this happened. I guess they lost one customer.
May I whine? Wahhhhhhhh! I haven’t gotten my tour CD yet!
But I haven’t checked today’s mail yet either. haha
KIZZI on #28 – just to clarify, since you plan to purchase 3 iTunes copies of the “duet”, what you saw in the episode is not the same as the one premiered in Radio Disney and the one available from iTunes.
The one for sale edited out melody part of David, Miley sang even his parts — making David literally a back-up singer for MC. That’s why most Archies won’t be buying. If you want to have the very same one shown in the episode, make sure it has the label – extended version — but am not sure that will be available in iTunes.
If you are buying cos your kids/nieces/nephews like MC, then yeah, you will get what you will be paying for.
Have I thanked you and Mr Kizzi enough for the great coverage of the UK Tour?
MUWAH to both of you!
Well bebereader…..I too am a May baby.
I do not mean to be so ignorant!
HAPPY belated BIRTHDAY Betsy!!!
Happy belated Birthday to you, Betsy!
I just wanted to let the “CD making crew” know that they have caused this gal some tears of joy today! I’m lovin’ listening to all the screaming for David!
I had to take a quick break after “Works for Me”,thought I’d stop here to THANK YOU ALL BUNCHES and BUNCHES!
Back to The VOICE!!!
Hey guys-
Ya know what? I do not think this whole jello/TDC thing is really working out. I really, really like it here and wanted to get to know you all better, so I decided to de-lurk in March. I was so excited! However, the longer I am here I realize that I am beginning to feel as though I am a thorn in TDC’s side. I have noticed that noone responds to my posts…which is a def. neg. reflection on me.
I am finding out that I simply cannot write paragraph after paragraph about David. I am as big a fan as everyone else here…if only you knew!….but sadly, I live in the world of one, two, maybe even three liners. I laugh and cry along with the best of you, but have difficulty expressing my thoughts. I also share this computer with 2 others in the household and always feel as though I am always hogging it!
I feel as though everyone here lets out a huge UGH! whenever they see my name.
I truly believe some people are just meant to be lurkers….and I suppose that I fit that persona. Thanks to everyone for being soooo great! Perhaps we shall meet again one day!
Love ya!
Jello (aka Donna)
Thanks jr4da. They won’t know the difference. He isn’t singing the song as a solo artist; he is getting exposure to Miley’s fan base. All good stuff!
I haven’t had time to read yet but have to say “Thank you” to Abrra and Dawn for the wonderful cd which I received today. It is so great. Knotliser, thank you for the additional special gift. It is something I would normally use but it is too nice to use and I will be saving it. You have made this a very happy day. Thank you, merci, gracias, kiitos, grazzi etc.
Kizzi – Great post! I love all your little details of your surroundings, I felt like I was there.
Clarification on a post I made yesterday: I see that David did in fact perform Crush and Zero Gravity at Ipswich. A set list posted at another site didn’t list these two songs and I was thinking he may have skipped them because he was feeling down about Cook losing his brother.
Sorry for the mis-information. The Archie FBI is going to dock my pay.
GEMZONE01 @ #15 -- happy for you that you had quality time with David. 45 minutes -- wow! I would be happy if Archies in Manila would even have the chance to have 5 minutes with him… Am told that they expect David to arrive in Manila, just a day before the actual concert date. Cook arrives a day ahead of David. That is the 411 as of last week.
Perhaps he will stay in UK to collaborate with writers for his album or spend some much deserved R&R.
OK, am gonna share some issues that we have been grappling here in Manila: with 2 weeks to go till the Manila Concert --
1. There is NO definitive plan or indication of a M&G for DA.
2. Cook will clearly have at least one M&G, sponsored by Skechers. After all, he is its global endorser.
3. Unlike in Singapore and Malaysia where the local counterparts of Sony were active participants, SonyBMG Phils is at odds with the concert producers and is not even a media partner in this event. The originally scheduled Apr 2-4 Manila promo tour was the source of irritant between Sony Phils and the concert producers.
4. However, Sony is still hopeful that they could find some ways to have access to David and arrange for a M&G for the Archies.
I won’t be surprised if David performs his set 1st before Cook which others may interpret as him opening for the AI winner, despite the concert being dubbed as back-to-back. The design of the ticket I hold supports this set-up. If this is the arrangement, am thinking at least I get to go home early and avoid the monstrous traffic that would ensue when one gets out of the venue simultaneous with all the concert goers!
Had not some well meaning fan groups here complained, the official print ad would have followed the pattern of the ticket design. The final ad thankfully showed equal billing/lay-out between the 2 Davids.
httpv://i564.photobucket.com/albums/ss90/archuletaphilippines2/Slide1.jpg
But then again, we have two more weeks… who knows??? Things may change for the better (weak smile). Just dang happy will see our David in the flesh, finally!
Jello .. I often don’t reference anyone’s post when I post or reply to something.
Sometimes everything I say is just random.
I don’t come to TDC for validation .. I just swing by now and again to scribble letters into the internet universe…just because…the folks here.. understand my ODD.
Don’t take things so personally.
To everyone else who received their CDs.. you’re welcome. I’m not even supposed to be on here today.. David is on boycott.. so I’ve been lured away from my therapy.
Blog on peepz.
Hi Jello:
When we were explaining our screen names, I almost wrote,”My screen name is so boring. Why didn’t I come up with a cute one like Jello.” Shy me. I did not write that. Wasn’t sure if you would like it. I still remember your pretty avita, the bright red jello. And then I thought of my own boring peaceful ocean scene.
I started to delurk at nD and I had high expectations. I wanted to belong to a community that shared my appreciation and love for David. For the longest time I was so disappointed that after a few welcomes, nobody really cared to respond to my “brilliant” insights (cough). I would take a long time to write, and then hold my breath for responses. I remembered I wrote that Obama and David shared some rare qualities, I wrote that David had to be a good dancer, because he learned to dance when he was young, that his Mom is a dancer… etc, etc. Every time when there was no response, I said to myself: “I am not going to post again. I am not interesting. Why don’t I just be a lurker for good. I am no Bliss, no Ronaldsf, no Dawn, no sf, no sb, no Marlie, no kizzi, no……” Actually it is a long list….
And then some topics would hit me between my eyes, and I felt that I have to say something. And then, mostly getting no response. But once in a long while, I would see; “peruu,…. ” which made me smile. But I can almost name everyone who had responded to my post. I can count with my ten fingers. One time it was totally unexpected, though, from Abbra, who responded to a short thank you from me. I was like, “Abbra, you talked to me, you just talked to me ’cause I said thank you?” I did not post that, of course, ’cause I would be spamming (to the ultimate self-licensed spammer:)
Blogging is a strange thingy. Personalities come through. Just like in schools, for various reasons, some kids are more popular than others. So, lately I have just decided that it is ok to post, if I am just speaking to myself. At the end, this is a fun place. I love the personalities here. And I appreciate them.
Now, am I expecting responses to this post? Cereally, Jello….
Kizzi, I soooo love your stories of bonnie Scotland, oh, and David! Thank you and Grandpa Archie for your videos and news!
hey jello, that was 4 paras!
And short posts are fine, see….
Sorry, the link to the official print ad – if your have not seen it – shld be this:
http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/ss90/archuletaphilippines2/Slide1.jpg
peruu: You say what I think we all feel at times when we post. It is so personal to us and the insights we share seem unique and riveting.
jello: I’ve been commenting since April 2008 and I’d have to say most of my comments aren’t acknowledged.
I quickly came to realize that the value of commenting was primarily an outlet for my fan thoughts and emotions that I couldn’t share with others in my life as they weren’t David fans. And, to read what others thought and felt was equally cathartic and assuaged my need to share this experience.
But where else can we find those that get what we get and see what we see?
Kizzi and Dawn, with all due respect, “The Micky Mouse Club” and “Leave it to Beaver” were “Hamlet” compared to these shows today. They are also sexist. All the boys are depicted as “clueless” and /or “such a guy”, and the girls are “boy crazy” and manipulative. Although these characterizations of both genders may be rooted in some cultural truth, they would be better off in offering alternative ways of relating.
The exception here was DAVID. He is is shown to be sensitive, sincere, and an all around nice guy I guess that part of the show was a documentary. Hannah “sees the light” eventually and takes the high road, but it serves to make her appear to be heroic, rather than being like David, who would have never needed to overcome anything to begin with.
Also, the actors on the “kid shows” of the ’50 and ’60s, while not graduates of the Actor’s Studio, had a modicum of talent. End of rant.
peruu..”I am no Bliss, no Ronaldsf, no Dawn, no sf, no sb, no Marlie, no kizzi, no……” Actually it is a long list….”
“no sf”…Is you talkin’ ’bout lil ole me?
If so..thank you very much. I don’t know how many times I have said, if I had the nerve and was welcomed with my rambling, then anyone & everyone should post. My blog name should have been “ramblin rose”. There are times when I just go on & on and it seems no one pays attention to me. No big deal. I don’t need a response. I know they’re reading what I have to say whether it’s interesting or not, who cares? They are my thoughts and that’s what we do here. Share our thoughts. I’m not a writer, don’t pretend to be a writer. But we all love David so we are all connected because of him. I may not like or agree with everything I read here, but that’s the beauty of this site. We say what we feel…like about THE DUET..I don’t like the song, I don’t have to like the song. It’s wasn’t recorded for ME. It’s a kiddie song. It’s not even David’s cup o’ tea. He did it for exposure. If you have small kids or grandkids, of course you’ll like it. It was made for the kids by David! David was more interested in the acting part than THE DUET part, I think.
See? I can ramble with the best of ‘em…do I make sense? probably not, but this is what I’m thinking about right now.
Kizzi..I am enjoying your recaps so much! Now, YOU are what I would consider one of our brilliant writers here! Thank you for taking us with you and making us feel as if we were right there with you!
See you later!
After reading jello, peruu and Kizzi, it made me laugh, because I think I often post and no one responds.
I don’t mind, though, cause I know you all probably read it and then move on to the next one as I do. I read almost every post here unless I get REALLY busy, and respond to oh, a couple out of every 100. There are about 300 posts a day here, sometimes more.
Most of the time I find myself nodding in agreement, but don’t have anything to add to what the person said. So the next time you post and no one says anything, just remember there are probably 500 people reading it and nodding in agreement.
jello…stick with us…I didn’t know how badly I wrote until I came here and there are definitely seasoned writers on board. But, it doesn’t make a difference, we don’t need everyone to write lots and lots because some of the shorter replies make the recipe turn out quite flavorful. One can write for a very long time with no one replying but don’t take offence to that. When people come here they have things on their minds and take notice usually to something that sparks a thought of their own. I read a good number of interesting posts and say nothing, depends upon the day…
FOR EXAMPLE JELLO!!: I have asked probably four times in two days if anyone has read anything written by or about “David’s band members”!!! Surely there is some news about them and how the tour is going for them personally…no replies but I won’t give up, I will keep asking and be a nuisance. I just want to know that they are staying a happy band family.
Several of TDC people were here long before I was and have a longer standing friendship so I will take my place in the crowd.
There are many interesting and exciting days ahead.
Abrra, Dawn65, Knoliser, and Marlie7 -
I received the Tour CD this morning. Thank you so much for all the love and tenderness you put into preparing this for us. It is beautiful. Like some others I couldn’t open it immediately – just had to hold it and stare. Love the red “LOVE” ribbon and, yes, that beautiful face bookmark. What a treasure! The photos alone bring back so many memories of David’s wonderful first solo tour. Then after I unwrapped it and listened – the “Touch My Hand” clip with all the applause and screams is the perfect welcome (to the stage) for David. You selected some of his best performances and banter. The “Medley” is especially terrific. What am I saying? All the songs are lovely! I didn’t let the music stop for the whole one hour and 10 minutes and was breathless, happy and teary way before the last note in Angels. Thank you again.
bliss *ahem* I have to differ.
“Leave It to Beaver” was about as sexist as it gets.
The messages: Woman were suppose to be June–do housework in pearls, perfectly coiffed hair, dressed beautifully, great cook, wonderful housekeeper and always asked perfect & wise hubby Ward for advice.
The fat boys (Larry & Lumpy) were clowns and none too smart.
The handsome boy, Wally, was smart, athletic and he got the girls. I mean the girls stalked Wally using Beaver, ginger ale and donuts to get him to take them out.
peruu..We met in Utah…ahh Utah…I will always remember the banquet and finally meeting everyone there. Of course David was behind the meeting!
Kizzi: You mean I can take off my pearls while I vacuum? I don’t have to wear high heals while cooking dinner? I don’t have to look to my wonderful, wise, always perfect husband for answers to the simple questions I come up with during my day at home, baking, cooking, polishing furniture and arranging flowers for the perfect dinner table? Well, dang, woman, someone should have told me that long ago.
Hey everyone! Confession time. Y’all know that I hate Twitter with a passion, right?
So why is it that I’m getting a kick following David’s tweets? ha ha! I’m not subscribed or anything. I only have access to his words and have to place them in context with what he’s saying to his Twitter pals.
His latest to Jordin Sparks: “It was good to hear your cheerful voice! Hope to see your face sometime soon though lol.” Gah! What a flirt!
And he’s juggling between Jordin and Shontelle it seems. ha ha! David, you chick magnet you!
I do love that he keeps in contact with his friends. Has he said anything about Cook? I saw both Jordin and Shontelle did.
LOL Marlie – those high heels hurt too!
I had a friend go to a self-help seminar once titled: “June Cleaver Doesn’t Live Here Anymore”
No Joke!
kizzi…I am anxious for part 2. Is there a date when it will be published?
peruu .. “I am no Bliss, no Ronaldsf, no Dawn, no sf, no sb, no Marlie, no kizzi, no……” Actually it is a long list…”
now that’s funny .. Dawn isn’t Dawn most of the time .. her and her alter egos and everything
SB… “I have asked probably four times in two days if anyone has read anything written by or about “David’s band members”!!! ”
I sent him a twitter.. apparently he didn’t get it.. or ignored it.. is too busy to answer it.. or is delightfully self absorbed as every other 18 year old is .. but I tried
blue .. “I received the Tour CD this morning. Thank you so much for all the love and tenderness you put into preparing this for us.”
you’re very welcome
bliss.. “All the boys are depicted as “clueless” and /or “such a guy”, and the girls are “boy crazy” and manipulative. ”
is that not David? or at least how he’s depicted.. I’m painfully reminded of the Touch My Hand video… and Davey and all his gaffaws.. and made to look just sweetly naive and goofy
You guys keep pulling me out of lurkdom .. I’m boycotting remember ? LOL
I found this on FOD hope it is OK to bring it over.

Jello, If I had a $1 for every post I made with no response I could afford another David concert! Ha! Ha! Really dear, this is just a great place to hang out. Respond when you want…lurk when you want. I dig it!
Thanks, SB. What thoughtful, kind words. My heart goes out to Cook and his family.
And, forgive me for being so superficial with such a grave story, but that photo of David they used is killer!
Jello, keep on posting! Eventually you will get responses. There are so many personalities on here that it’s sometimes easy to overlook things.
I didn’t go through the 60+ posts here and just skimmed, which is why I didn’t see your post until others responded to it, then I went to look to see which comment peeps were responding to.
See, we’re listening!
Oh yeah, guys, thanks for driving up the traffic on my Soul David blog!
SB: Part 2 is going up tomorrow in the early am hours
Hey TDCers!! Just felt like saying HI!! Jello, for what it’s worth, what others say is the same for me: many of my posts get no response. It’s quite typical. On the flip side, so so so many times I wanted to tell someone how much I enjoyed her/his comments but for one reason or another ended up staying mute; too busy, lost opportunity, etc. While I’m at this, let me say there are/were also so many wonderful articles written by Kizzi, TOfan, dfLIZ… sorry my old brain can’t rattle off a lot of names, even by good ol’ rascal that I didn’t even comment on. But I’m sure they all know how much I appreciate everyone and their thoughts. So while it’s really nice and fun to get a response, I understand, it’s ok. I’m just happy to have a place where I can come to and say what I feel and think if I felt like doing so. Lately though, lurking has been fun too

HG – from PEOPLE.COM
David Archuleta:My Heart Goes Out to David Cook
David Archuleta was once David Cook’s main competitor on American Idol – but now has only kind words for his friend, who lost his brother, Adam, to brain cancer over the weekend.
“It really struck me when I heard about the news of Cook’s brother,” Archuleta says in a statement. “I know they had been struggling with it for a while, so my heart really goes out to them. It’s so admirable the way he’s handling it though, and it’s amazing to see him there as an example for millions of other people who have also been affected the same way he and his family have.”
Continues the statement: “I’ll be keeping him in my thoughts and prayers, and hope the Cook family stays strong.”
David Cook’s brother, Adam, died on Saturday after battling cancer for more than a decade. Cook, 26, revealed the sad news in front of a crowd Sunday during the Race for Hope, which benefited the National Brain Tumor Society and Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure.
Thanks, JR. Isn’t it interesting that David’s opinion is sought out when addressing Cook’s personal tragedy?
I have to post this comment from the McFly boards because it cracked me up:
“Hi tom!
What nostalgia ^ ^
I’m getting addicted on Twitter!
The David Archuleta is really an incredible voice, the first time I heard him was when he did a duet with Miley Cyrus, is incredible!
I saw some videos of the show again! Incredible! Poor can not wait to see you here in Brazil (*_*)”
So her experience of David’s ‘incredible voice’ comes from the infamous duet? Bwahahahah
You see, there’s no stopping him. His talent shines through even subpar material.
Love, love, love my new cd.
Just a quick drive by to see what’s going on.
Literally.
I snuck out of my son’s double-header ball game to come home and “allegedly” use our bathroom. My husband knows that there is no porta-potty in my future, ever!
Jello – come on. Lighten up! We share a love of Outlander! And David! Where else can you get that?!
SB – I think nobody responded to the band question because no one knows. They haven’t blogged that I have seen.
Has anyone checked out the photo’s that I linked in post #25? You really must!
Dang, I have to get back to the ballgame.
See ya’ll later.
Val.. “So her experience of David’s ‘incredible voice’ comes from the infamous duet? Bwahahahah” .. well then they’ll really be blown away when they actually get to hear him SING.
Should post a tulsa angels link.. that’s usually a BINGO !!!
Kizzi, I stand corrected. You’re 100% right about the LITB characters. The character of June Cleaver has become the “poster child” of 1950s stereotyping of housewives of that era. However, all the mothers I knew never wore pearls and high heals while they vacuumed, and “shlepped’ around the house in any “shmatah” they could find.
David has that classic “cute guy” look, which makes the fact that he doesn’t use his good looks to advance any aspect of his life even more impressive, especially for an 18 year old. Let’s face it, if David wanted to, he could be “making up for lost time” with his new found fame and the availability of thousands of Archu-craving girls of all ages tripping over themselves to “be with him”. Mick Jagger must think David is nuts. David is also redefining what a “Groupie” is and how they behave around him, which must be making a lot of the other pop star sleezeballs a little nervous. I mean, what if thw word gets out that a young handsome superstar actually respects girls and treats them warmly with no expectation of sexual favors. The Jonas Brothers may give up the business altogether.
jello- would you like to play tennis?
HG….People interview David regarding Cook.
http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20276455,00.html
Kizzi, I loved your videos but really love the description of the crowd at the David/McFly tour. So nice to see how he wins over new fans among those who didn’t expect to enjoy him. Go David!
Why am I still here.
Betsy
(bad mommy)
I’m posting one more and then I’ll stop.
“oooh, i was missing your blogs! i read your tweets, but they’re not the same! glad you guys are having so much fun on tour, and i’m sure david archuleta is loving it! (:
can’t wait for the concerts in brazil! i really wish david could come with you ):”
Aw! McFly have a show here on May 28th. Why isn’t David coming too? I feel just like the girl who posted, only I’m not a teen. But I’d go anyway.
Kizzi – Loved your post and thank you again for taping the Grady interview you made my day. Waiting for tomorrow…Part 2…yeah.
Bebe – getting stuck in David’s eyes…lol
I’m little nervous about looking in his eyes… with all the stories, but I have to do it….
peruu – I’m with you and all the other posters who get no recognition….haha. Joking aside, I’m not a writer and there are some pretty gifted writers on this site that put my thoughts and feelings into beautiful words. At first I was a little intimidated but since I jumped in I am so glad I did. I ramble short rambles sometimes a little longer rambles, like now…lol
Sometimes I’ll have a comment to my comment mostly not, but that’s fine…it’s the nature of the beast and no where else but here can I express myself about my ODD where I don’t feel I’ll be ridiculed.
So Jello lurk or delurk it’s up to you….but fyi I enjoy your posts even if I don’t always respond to them.
Abrra, Dawn, knotliser, marlie!! What can I say that hasn’t already been said, but Thank You so, so much for the CD. It is truly a labor of love…I felt it as soon as I opened the envelope and saw the way you packaged it. I’m listening to it right now. The quality is so good! David will one day be known as the greatest singer in the world, and we will have this memento of David’s first solo tour to keep and treasure forever. It will be a collectors item.
When David sees it and hears it..well maybe HE won’t cuz you know how he hates listening to himself, but his parents will and they will love it knowing it was created with so much love and caring. Dawn, you used the most beautiful photos, just beautiful! Just an awesome job, Dawn! The bookmark from Knotliser as an added gift was so very generous. Thank you so much! I love it! Thank all of you for doing this for us and for David.
hello everyone…. I’m still on a work trip with hubby, and no time to be here… but must say… Thank you, thank you, thank you kizzi (and Mr kizzi) for going to the UK for us! hearing it and seeing it from your view is a gift to us…
I can not wait to get home to see if my tour cd has arrived. I so do hope so, I have not seen or heard enough of David on this trip. (urggg)
My 2 cents, on the commenting, lol Ive been here aloooong time, since last May (wow a year) and you really need to just comment cause you want to, not cause you need a response, that’s the nature of blogging sometimes, just enjoy it!!!
djafan, if you get the chance, do it!
Jello,
You can’t be serious! Oh, please! That’s just silly.
Shake it off, let it go and come out to play with us later.
Bebereader,
Glad your kitty is doing better. How old is she?
{{{{Abrra, Dawn, knotliser, marlie}}}}
I had an extremely sh*tty day and then I came home to an extraordinary gift in my mailbox.
You guys are the bee’s knees.
Thank you.
joner 88- so you ended up with lemonade from your lemony day?
David, hope you’re sleeping & having sweet dreams..
Dear Lord,
Please take care of David. Watch over him, protect him from all harm. Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path. Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give. Surround David with loving and supportive people who love him UNCONDITIONALLY as we, his Archangels do. Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being. Give him rest when he’s weary. Give him stamina to sustain his hectic pace. Give him assurance when he feels doubt. Give him joy when he feels sad. Cloak him always in your protective arms during this time on his journey. Keep David and HIS VOICE healthy & strong as he fulfills his Destiny which was written in his Book of Life before he was born.
Though we may be unworthy, Please Lord, give some of us, David’s unconditional forever fans, the wisdom to know when to say no as well, especially when we want so much to do right by David. Open our eyes and help us in the way we support David so that it’s always in his best interests. Thank you Lord.
Amen.
And David..remember! Take that cell phone with you wherever you go! And if you get lost or in any kind of situation where you need help..just twitter an SOS!!
May your journey in the UK continue to be a happy & safe one and all you hope for and deserve! May your positive and good Karma continue to attract those with positive and good Karma! May you continue to encounter goodwill and happiness! May you continue to be healthy and strong throughout your journey in the UK. Keep with you all our love, prayers and warm thoughts! Take care of yourself! We miss you badly, and will always love you madly!
I KNOW he doesn’t see this..I’m not crazy! But what the heck! It makes me feel better.
Contigo siempre con amor!
People Magazine says that David was Cook’s main competitor and now has only kind words for him. What a crock. They are implying that David is only saying nice things about Cook now because he lost his brother. We all know that David has ALWAYS
had kind words for Cook, and, in fact, never saw him as a competitor, then or now.
People Magazine is a rag. Why hasn’t David been named its Sexiest Man Alive yet? Somebody needs to send them a few screencaps from Duluth to lock it up.
gag, gag, sniff sniff… I had a fantasy about David (well, a couple actually but never mind) that he would sing with the symphony some day soon. What did I just see with my delicate eyes? No! none of my fantasies did I see! Instead, who did I see singing her new single with a full orchestra backing her up?……. none other than that esteemed vocalist, Miley Cyrus…. the image reminds me of the lunch box (not really, nothing beats the lunchbox,) but still, the injustice………argh!
SB- Good question.where is the band? The blogs? They are behind. Alex? Eli? come on band guys. Tell us what is going on over there….come on ,,,,David tells us EVERYthing!!! GEEZ, what about you band guys? We luv you too!!…..Kendra, is Archie still eating Bell peppers and almonds? and do you have him working out during sound check? like those leg raises and stuff?…inquiring minds wanna know./…..come on band buddies!
HG, #69 “And, forgive me for being so superficial with such a grave story, but that photo of David they used is killer!” And forgive me for ROTFLMAO! Thanks, I needed that!
Valbraz #75, those McFly posts make me smile!
SB, I’ve just had a call from Eli (or was it Mike?) and the band has been far too busy scouting affordable breakfast spots for David to do much else.
(Betsy, I looked at those pics … are you sure that’s the right link? Goofy stuff.)
joner . May 4, 2009 at 8:48 pm .
Told ya I had your back, Sistah! Enjoy!
Random
I realize that with all the chatter about the CD, some may feel left out if they don’t have one. I will do my best to honor requests of the posters to TDC. I did my best to mention how to request a CD over a few weeks in April. Please know that there are no more cover art cases or bookmarks. Anything I can send at this point is a cd in a plain case. Its the same musical content.
Abrra
Happy, I hope the horn section was real loud….
abrra #95,
for those of us who didn’t order the cd, could you share an image of the cover art and bookmark art with us here at tdc? it has received so much praise i’d love to see it!
Tofan #94 – If it’s the photo of David sticking out his tongue, then yes, it’s right! But…..
You have to hit the back arrow to see the much better ones. There are several.
Like I said.
The fence picture.
I can’t say anymore than that or I will be in trouble!
blisskasdan . May 4, 2009 at 12:44 pm .
Chills Bliss. I just bought a book about Phil Spector. A true genious turned evil. The book has so much history and first hand account on how so many of the great songs and great musical acts came to be. many were not treated so well, but they just wanted to SING. Sound familiar?
Abrra the Monday night spammer
Tofan-So the band has been out looking for a Waffle House? That explains everything! They can’t pay $16.45 for cereal and milk….that is such a rip-off.
desertrat . May 4, 2009 at 9:16 pm .
I have a jpg image. I took a picture of the front and back as it lay on my bed LOL. I will send it to Marlie and see if she can post it. I am not that talented YET. No promises but i can ask.
Abrra who was forced to spam by a deserat
LuvieD & TOfan – I wonder why David’s breakfast isn’t included with room rate. Always has been in the hotels we stay at in the UK. hmmmm…
Hi everyone!
Kizzi- wonderful description and history TO boot. How cool to come to that venue to see David on the train- and to be immersed in all those lovely accents. Remids me of a Maeve Binchey novel- I just love her books-
Jello- I am the queen of just a few lines- but have not been kicked out yet and I do not have the beautiful writing skills of the folks here.
I just get a laugh and food for thought from what everyone shares-
It is odd that I don’t see David in People, or even promominately on the teen mags- ( he is there but others dominate) I guess mainstream media still is not getting it yet…. doubt David wants to get that kind of attention- he just wants to make great music for us fans.
Even though I don’t support all that tweeting all day long, boy he sure tries to stay connected (oh boy, never been a fan, but if I was going to become part of a fan base, I sure in in good company and ,,,,blushing….appreciated)
LuvieD, unless of course we’re talkin’ VIP upgrade cereal and milk.
Betsy, thanks for the tip. Some of those are the cheesiest shots I’ve ever seen, but the one with David playing the bongo drum on the purple velveteen bachelor pad set? HiLARious!
Happy – ROFLMAO
“Esteemed vocalist”
Tofan – I know. The photgrapher had him doing the worst possible poses. SMELLING FLOWERS? Are you kidding me? Holding “Nemo” was it? But there were a few that were shining through.
Enjoyed the bongo drums. I hope the set was meant to be a joke.
blisskasdan . May 4, 2009 at 7:22 pm .
We are some kind of wavelength today. I was watching some DLG videos from KL and Duluth and thought to myself “David has some Mick Jagger moves for sure” or maybe I am the last one to notice?
Abrra channeling Bliss
… betsy, and answering his cellphone??? “David, it’s Sears Catalogue calling, they want their poses back.” Gee Abrra, now I’m spamming! lol
TOfan 108- The Sears Catalogue is insulted.
Yeah….what was with the bongos? Are they trying to make him into the new Rickey Ricardo? BABALOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! LOL
I hope never to see another photo of him with his hand under his chin.
Or anywhere near his face.
Tofan and Happy are on fire tonight.
Joner,
Maybe the new Matthew McConnaghey.
Maybe they could use the “rejects” in new wallets. I’d buy a new wallet if it had David’s pic in it. He could even have his hands on his face, I don’t care. I’m easy.
Just sayin’…
betsy 111-on fire? how convenient. Bring the proofs near me so I can burn them.
“I hope never to see another photo of him with his hand under his chin.” lol
The hand under the chin! Too funny. (And Joner, lol)
Happy, here’s a vid just for you! (It’s the first time I’ve listened to the whole song and there’s one line that says something about “fighting to defend your sister’s reputation”… say what?
What is going on at TDC tonight? whatever you all are drinking, smoking, or eating (brownies?)…I want some! I am ROFLMAO! Comedy nite at TDC?
Joner! BABALOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! You are too much!
I see now..you all wait til I say good nite then you have a party! OK..party on!
Nite all!
SF, you started it: “And if you get lost or in any kind of situation where you need help..just twitter an SOS!!” ROTFL
Tofan-VIP cereal and Milk!! LOL!! But David would eat his dry though…no dairy ya know…..does that come with juice? He wanted juice this morning….surely you get juice with a VIP upgrade on breakfast!
“I got mah ceeeD, I got mah ceeeD, I, I, I, I got mah ceeeD”, she sings as she perfects her should shimmy. LOL
Thanks so very much Abrra, Dawn65, Knoliser, and Marlie7. Just WOW!
Betsy, I am remiss–HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!
JELLO #45, your absence did NOT go unnoticed.I missed you and am now sorry I didn’t express it. It’s funny because I thought you were very funny and well received on TDC whereas I wondered if anyone even bothered to read my posts. In fact, at one point I thought about signing off as the Invisible Poster.
Peruu #51, “Every time when there was no response, I said to myself: “I am not going to post again. I am not interesting. Why don’t I just be a lurker for good. I am no Bliss, no Ronaldsf, no Dawn, no sf, no sb, no Marlie, no kizzi, no……”
Ditto! Not only that, I felt I was always my views were in the minority on most controversial issues. But I love coming to TDC. I love the well written, in depth commentary on the various aspects of David and being fans of David that I have not found on any other site. So I have decided, whether I am acknowledged or agreed with, with my bad spelling, typos and ill informed information, I call TDC my home.
Jello, Don’t Let Go.
Lets talk about hugs, lets peace, talk about how we’re one big family, lets talk about love. (I need those musical notes)
Kizzi, I love how people who started out being indifferent to David were jumping and grooving like the rest of us. Have they not heard, RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!!!
SF #56, I like the song. My 20 yo daughter likes the song. We watched the whole episode. WE even L’dOL. She have no problem with David capturing the Disney fans, she thinks it only makes since. I bought us VIP tix for Fresno, she has offered to buy VIP tix/upgrades for San Jose, KWEL!
SB #58, I didn’t know anything so I didn’t respond, sorry.
I got mah ceeeD, I got mah ceeeD, I, I, I, I got mah ceeeD. YIPPEEEEEEEE!
(Please excuse all typos, rambling, and blabbering)
Tonight’s activities include a “lyrics competition.”
the entries:
I Want to Know You by Miley Cyrus and David Archuleta
there’s a mark above your eye
you got it in July
fighting for your sister’s reputation
you remember people’s names
and valentines so lame
so I bring you flowers for just no occasion
CHORUS:
ohhhhhh yeah
whoa whoa ohoh whoa ohoh
i wanna know you
whoa whoa ohoh whoa ohoh
VS.
I REALLY Want to Know You by The Partridge Family
I want to look behind the mirror of your eyes
and see the secret world, the world your words disguise
the birthplace of your sighs.
I want to know the pain of all your silent fears
and when you speak of them, the ones that no one hears
I want to taste your tears.
CHORUS:
I really want to know you
I really want to know you
Please cast only one vote. No stuffing the ballot box. Enough things are stuffed around here.
Wow, good find, Happy! And furthermore, Miley could never bring in radio signals with her braces….
Off to vote! Hmmmm
Abrra, I hesitated to mention that Phil Spector was a member of the Teddy Bears, but I didn’t get it past you. Spector is the classic tortured genius. His abuse of Ronnie, his wife and lead singer of the fantastic group, the Ronettes, in the mid ’60s is Hollywood legend. He “bought” her a son instaed of a pet, because she was being held in captivity in their mansion. He exploited the Ronettes, the Crystals, Darlene Love etal, who sang his classics and were paid bubkas in return. He’s where he belongs now.
David proves that you can be a musical genius and a totally decent, warmhearted and selfless person at the same time.
Geez, happy, I never thought I’d vote for the Partridge Family LOL
Jello:
Please don’t go. Your humor and ODD is killer. It is soooo nice to come home and unwind reading your and everyone else’s comments and posts.
Peruu:
I’ve been lurking since last May, but I can first recall being enthralled by reading your comments since last summer. I think you and I would log on at about the same time at night. I remember wondering, at first, if you were from an exotic foreign place—your thoughts were descriptive and worldly. Then when you mentioned meeting me at Reno and I mistook you for someone I met at the mosh pit, I couldn’t help but feel so embarrassed. Please forgive me.
TOfan:
I often visit your blog and must say how impressed I am. You have a way with words, humor, and a way with enabling heart felt connections. Hope your father-in-law is better.
LOL so much tonight. Thanks everyone!
AAAAAAAAAAAbbrra – I GOT MY CD WOOT!
Thank You SOO much and to the entire production team – Marlie, Dawn – who am I leaving out?. The entire packaging was first class.
Knotliser – this bookmark is the most beautiful one I have EVER owned – can’t wait to use it.
Did you guys have a look at the Pink Performances from London posted on FOD? David is just about dying to see her show. Well, he’ll certainly see a lot more than he bargained for – and that’s all I’m saying. LOL!
Abrra, Marlie, Dawn, Knotliser – Two-armed hugs to you and anyone else involved with the CD!! Received mine today and I am loving it!! It feels so special, coming from his fans – a true labor of love. And that bookmark, what a nice surprise. But how am I suppose to concentrate on what I am reading??? Guess I’ll start a new book tonight!
JELLO!
You are more than welcome here. So what if some of us are more long-winded than others? To each his own. There are no exceptional qualifications to be on this site – except to simply Love David. Your voice is important even if you contribute with a word, phrase, sentence or paragraph. It doesn’t matter – please reconsider?
Peruu,
Can I say to you also that a lot of your posts are like Angelica’s – too deep and too well said to even attempt to come up with an immediate reply. I am a quiet fan of your posts.
joymus – re Pink, I guess he understands that the visual part of the concert is a very important aspect, as well as the musicality. (And he does like spunky and funky!)
To all .. you’re welcome..
But you are all quite hilarious tonight.
Happy,
This – so i bring you flowers for just no occasion
Or This – I want to know the pain of all your silent fears
It pains me to ever utter the following:
Grammatically speaking, The Partridge Family has to be the winner in this lyric competition.
Danny Bonaduce would be so proud.
Okay, I have to correct this misconception:
Abrra made the CD, Dawn65 did the beautiful cover art, Knotliser did the book marks, Marlie sent emails to Abrra – that is all.
So HUGE cudos to Abrra, Daw65 and knotliser for the CD.
joymous! I recieved my cd today as well! It is divine. A had a moment of panic when it got stuck in my husbands car cd player. But no worries. I just took the whole cd player out of his dashboard. It came out easily after that. Never thought I could do that. But desperate times, etc.!

Here is the book title:
Tearing Down The Wall Of Sound
The Rise and fall of Phil Spector
by Mick Brown in paper back at amazon
Very good read on the infancy of rock and roll and beyond.

Have you all seen these photos of the London concert? Stunning!
http://davidarchuletanetwork.ning.com/photo
ooops, sorry djafan, I posted right after you. They really are worth a double post though!
You guys.
Those pictures are stunning. Saw them a few minutes ago at Snarkys. Interesting about the photographer.
Christie Goodwin is the leading rock photographer of this generation. Her striking and atmospheric images capture the true soul of the musician. Her iconic live photography and intuitive portraiture has gained critical acclaim in the music industry and is used by top recording artists.
They beat the Sears photos by a mile. Not a hand under the chin to be found.
emmiegirl….worth it for sure…. I hear the videos posted from the UK…but I miss seeing his face…
Am I the only one who hasn’t received the CD?
davidfanLIZ . May 4, 2009 at 11:11 pm .

desertrat #143 – I had to delete the comment with the CD cover pix because of some technical difficulties. I’ll try again tomorrow.
My David CD is being sent to Canada by horse and buggy through the great north woods, as I mentioned once before. It has to travel on a really old, rocky road, so I will be lucky if it arrives here in two weeks. I live on a peninsula and sometimes during the full moon the high tides cover the road so if that happens it will take three weeks to get here. I could take a row boat over if that happens or just wait it out. Anyway, I am looking forward to receiving the ‘David in concert’ CD whenever I get the call that it is here.
betsy & jello—-waaay back up there–I’ve read all of DG’s books in that series and loved them. It made me fall in love with Scotland and it’s history. I was so in love with Claire and Jamie by the end of the last one. I kind of made myself read really slow so the book wouldn’t come to an end.
tawna21…I was wondering today where you have been as I haven’t seen you here lately.
Abrra, thanks for the heads up on the Spector book. He had a great Christmas album featuring all those great groups back in ’63. The Ronettes version of “Frosty the Snowman” is a classic. It has always been the best Christmas album of the rock era. That streak will end this Christmas when David releases what I’m sure will be the best Christmas CD ever. The previews he gave at some of his appearances last Christmas were unbelievable. With his heightened confidence and vocal power, our boy will release a “must have” CD along the lines of Carole King’s “Tapestry”. Can’t wait for that.
I got mah CD too! Love it! Haven’t listened to it yet but I love it like already. The cover is so gorgeous, dawn. Thank you for the beautiful book mark, knotliser. And thank you Abrra, for the music, for giving it to me. (channeling Abba, haha,) Yes, I used to love Abba and still do. Fun stuff.
You guys are on a roll tonight, LMAO! VIP upgrade breakfast, Partridge family, “that esteemed vocalist, Miley Cyrus, babaloooooo! But the winner is_________*drum roll*
jello!!!!! Bwahahahahahaha!!!!! Stop! You’re killin me! If I had a dollar for every time you’ve posted your fare thee well, we shall never meet again letter to TDC, I could buy David breakie in England. Seriously, girl, how many times do we have to beg you to stay for you to get it through your head that you are loved here? But don’t ever change. You are so quirky, funny, and unique. Also, just because we don’t respond, doesn’t mean we don’t like your posts. I read every post here and love them all. Each one adds a unique thread to the diverse tapestry that makes up this wonderful, warm, diverse fansite. (Don’t make me jump through this screen and hurt you.)
When I brought the mail in today, there was the package with the CD. I opened it and then just sat there at the kitchen table in the middle of the bills and circulars and cried. As I sat there with a full heart and runny nose, desperately grabbing for a tissue, I had to turn my head when the Mr. walked by, lest he think I had either lost my mind (he thinks that a lot lately) or that we had gotten notice our bank account was overdrawn or some such.
This sounds so Daffy (thus my name), but my heart is full tonight–of happiness to be part of TDC family, even if a major lurker from way back in the days of Noting David. Such a testament to the generous nature of David fans to put together such a lovely package–the care with which the songs were chosen with input from everybody, the cover pictures, the exquisite surprise book mark.
And I haven’t even listened to it yet! I may not survive!!!
HAPPY @ #92 and BETSY @ #105 – re “esteemed vocalist”, well there is one fan who supports this.
Hope its ok to bring this over here cos I had a mighty laugh when I read this comment from Neon Limelight:
“Qwerty
May 3, 2009
Well, I’ll be the first to disagree with all of the comments. Miley’s voice is far more mature and vocally interesting than David’s totally uninspired voice. Let’s face it, if he looked like Susan Boyle, he wouldn’t have gotten to the top 2 of American Idol. Not to mention, hearing him live and in the studio, they put so many layers of engineering on his voice to make him sound mature, when he just comes off robotic. I thought his part was totally boring, and I am ecstatic they got rid of it, because he is definitely not even close to being as talented as Miley. “
Esteemed much? Oh my…. tee-hee
Bliss #151, “That streak will end this Christmas when David releases what I’m sure will be the best Christmas CD ever.”
I thought David’s Christmas cd has been put on hold.
My vote, hope I’m not too late. Lyrics wise the Partridges, voice wise David.
I’m just savoring my cd for now. I haven’t opened it yet, am just enjoying to look of it; the ribbon of love that is so delicately wrapped around the outside indicating not only the labor of love that went into making it, but also the love that David poured inside to create its inspiration. The cost seems so small and as someone said before, THANK YOU seems so inadequate.
Dear Qwerty.. please be glad I’m not a member of neonlimelight.. also be glad I don’t know who you are… also be aware… my condolences on your hearing loss.
GBW… open.. enjoy .. you’re welcome !
SB—been lurking. I was out of town for a few days–my son-in-law graduated with his asscociates degree in nursing so we went down to the other end of the state for that (he has one more year to graduate with his BS in Nursing then he’ll be an RN. He’s one of those who was meant to be in nursing.
djaf–I don’t have my cd yet either.
Again.. I am glad everyone is enjoying her parcels.
I’m still tempted to go find Qwerty.. it’s not like me not to rush to David’s defense.. but it’s not in me right now.. I am boycotting.
votes counted…results were delayed due to a demanded recount…. And the winner is……. the Partridge Family, drats…… I loved that line about “lame valentines.”
This is just hilarious… all the responses to Jello who is tired of getting “no responses” to her posts! And then all the others who have shared that they don’t always get responses either! Very strange that I’ve been thinking the same thing for as long as I’ve been with this group!
Abrra asked me the other day what my “former” name was, since my present name wasn’t on her CD list! Well, I was too embarrassed to answer, since long ago, when I came to this community with my former name, hardly anyone ever responded to my posts ~ so I decided recently to use another “alias” just to see if maybe my “name” was the problem!
So I changed my name ~ but guess what! Still no responses ~ well, hardly none, anyway!
But Jello ~ and all the others who shared their feelings about also being “overlooked” ~ you’ve really helped me ~ to realize that I’m not alone, for one thing ~ and I really should be posting just for the “therapy” of it, whether anyone responded or not! Ah ~ sweet release!
And I do know what a busy world we live in ~ because many times I’d like to respond to so many posts, and I don’t have time! So there you have it! My “true confession” in the middle of the night!
So Abrra, and all the others who had part in that wonderful CD, THANK YOU ~ I love it! Played it today on my way across town and back ~ and will play it again & again! Also LOVE the bookmark! I’ll be sending my response tomorrow ~ tho I didn’t intend to be writing this little novel tonight!
Thanks to Jello for tonight’s Revelation!
“Kipper” (a/k/a “Heart” a/k/a “Nancy”)
just checked in one last time before going to bed… heart- I do remember commenting with you and wondering where you went… nowhere…lol…btw- I love Kipper-the-dog, is your new screen name for kipper the dog?
goodnight all. thanks for the fun.
Happy, no ~ never heard of Kipper the dog, sorry! LOL! It’s the name of a former hairstylist ~ I was intrigued by the name, since I’d never heard it before! So I knew no one would probably use it here! Little did I know that there’s actually a dog running around with that name! Oh, me!
dawn65 157. May 5, 2009 at 12:45 am. “GBW… open.. enjoy …!” Oh I shall, I shall indeed.
Jello makes to world go round, my fair lady.\o/
dawn65- let querty have it….must be deaf.
What a loose funny night….goodnight all.
And while we’re talking about MIA’s where’s BEEBEE??? Beebee are you ok? Question: Is that song “Kristy Are You Ok” about Kristy Lee Cook? It talks about not trying to get back what you lost or something. Maybe not, lol.
Amen to SF’s prayer and G’nite to all.
tawna21 . May 5, 2009 at 12:49 am .
I have you checked off as mailed CD. So it will be coming. I mailed it 4/30. Djafan is all set now. So is everyone happy? LOL
Abrra
About to call it a day ~ but just had to share this little tidbit from the McFly boards ~
(after recent discussion about signing a petition to bring David back to the UK for a solo tour):
“It may seem pointless, but it’s doubtful that David will come over here again any time soon, even if album sales do well. You have to remember that he already has hardcore UK fans and has gained new ones after the McFly tour. If we do this petition, David and his people will realise that he is loved in the UK and will work on getting him over here more. That’s what it’s about.”
Bravo, David! You are loved by the masses!
Valbraz #87 “Glad your kitty is doing better. How old is she?” She’s 18 months, thanks for asking. She’s home now, safe and sound.
I would like to officialy thank Abrra and Dawn, knotliser and Marlie for their part in creating a masterpiece tour CD. Yes, it was in my mailbox today! The front and back covers are awesome, with crisp and clear pictures. Listening to it takes me back to Sayreville, my stop on David’s solo tour. I blasted it on my livingroom stereo while fixing dinner tonight. David’s voice filled my entire house and head. You guys are the greatest for doing this for us; you’ve made your fellow David fans extremely happy! {{{hugs}}}}
Kipper . May 5, 2009 at 1:03 am .
I had an ulterior motive by asking that question. It was a test of sorts to see if you were a poster here or a lurker. I didn’t recognize the name. You were both I see!
Posting is like a conversation. If you engage someone in conversation by replying to one of their posts, you just may get a response. Then dialog ensues. Notice how some bring a poem or an interesting link to share? That is a good place to start a dialog with other posters. Some of us have developed a connection of sorts here. We post often and learn what makes for lively discussion. Betsy always has brownies, I am the self titled Spammer and SF is the den mother who leaves the daily prayer for David. It’s all in good fun. We don’t take anything too serious here.
Abrra
betsey 25, 76 – Oh yeah!!!! I saved over half of them to my picture folder. Already have the one with the standup jacket collar. My 3+yo grandaughter liked that one and wanted a copy to carry around with her while she was shopping/visiting over the xmas holidays. She has such good tatse. Thanx for that.
SF – “I KNOW he doesn’t see this..I’m not crazy! But what the heck! It makes me feel better.” Me, too. Please keep posting it…………
Abbra, Dawn, Knotliser and Marlie – thanx so much for this “labor of love” CD. You can tell it definitely is that. My hubby noticed it, picked it up and checked it out. Something for him, as he is not a David fan.
bliss 91 – “People Magazine is a rag. Why hasn’t David been named its Sexiest Man Alive yet? Somebody needs to send them a few screencaps from Duluth to lock it up.” Or a DLG vid from Sayerville or Malaysia. If that doesn’t do them in, nothing will.
What?? I go to bed at a decent time so I wont wake up lookin like a ZOMBIE..(haha) and I totally miss a competition between Milevid (or should that be Daviley) and The Partridge Family?…Geez, I didnt get to vote
. Well, looks like the Partridge Family won anyhow…..whoo hoo!….Those lyrics are “The BomB”!! The “Ones to Beat”…..They also “proved Simons point”…..whatever that may be.:)
So does everyone sleep this time of the morning maybe?…Except me and David (who apparently THINKS he looks like a Zombie this morning and is skipping b’fast cause the VIP upgrade contains dairy?).
bliss 91- “People” needs DLG Sayerville….they would invent a new category just for that one!!
Abrra, don’t know if you’ll ever see this post since it looks like the “end” of this thread, but thanks for your response.
Yes, I’ve been on David’s bandwagon since Day 1, and around here almost since the beginning (starting with Noting David) and, believe it or not, I do know the art of posting ~ but sometimes this group can be a “challenge” to keep up with!
(I also tend to “retreat” during discussions of controversial topics, such as religion & politics. I think I’m not alone in that respect.)
