Vermeer! Where have I been?! I just saw this! I adore these. I have always loved your pencil portrait of David, but had never seen the one of Lupe. WOW!

There is something just so indescribably sensual and arresting about a good pencil portrait. Add to that this parTICular subject matter and, WHOA! I’m so glad you did these, and REALLY GLAD thought to take pix of them before giving them to David.

Please be sure to show us anything else you do!

vermeer, love both portraits so much. You are exceptionally talented and I’m so happy you were able to give your labours of love to David and Lupe.

I especially love the eyes in both — where sometimes that’s what I find missing in portraits, no spark from the eyes — you’ve captured David’s and Lupe’s spirit and the eyes sparkle with life.

desertrat, it’s easy to be ultra picky with my own stuff. I felt I finally got it to where I captured something of Lupe’s persona but in the process of laboring, the drawing itself was on the verge of (or did a bit) getting stiff or stifled. But oh well…

Vermeer -- These are both exquisite! I love how you have captured their expressive eyes as well as the softness of their smiles. Too many portraits strike me as lifeless; yours are warm and beautiful. I am pea green with envy, by the way.

gee you guys thanks so very much! fandaforeverti48 #6, you could never offend me or anything. Though I have no musical talent whatsoever, I relate to David via the visual art. I am just tickled to death that the viewer might be seeing what I see in the subject, like David says it makes it all worth it when people feel what he feels when he sings.

And beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so we all must have very similar eyes, and heart.
