Our Fan Relationships – Part One
Oscar or Pulitzer?

Note: Mikesd’s feature below is part of a two-part series on our relationships with each other as David fans. Mikesd’s and Freofan’s posts each have a different take on fan relationships, but both features invite us to think about how and why these relationships are meaningful to us.
I have never participated in a blog…until now. I have never followed a performer around the country…until now. I have never played a CD a monumental number of times…until now. This whole fan experience has been an amazing one and, in my eyes, has produced a phenomenon that is becoming more fascinating as it plays out. I’m talking about the fans themselves, those characters who visit the blog and write on a regular basis. I’m talking about the screen name vs. the real person. As I have participated in the multi-level drama, comedy and mystery of blogging, I have found myself forming opinions about people based on their screen name and their avatar as well as their comments. Admit it. You are doing the same thing. We become characters in the play, actors on the stage. You can’t help but think as you log on: What is this scene about? Who is starring in it…at least for this moment?
This drama continues day after day…and then you meet some of the players in real life. I will be the first to admit that after having met several of the “cast,” my opinions have changed in a subtle yet noticeable way. Being able to put a real person to the screen name and really learn more about them enhances your experience on the blog. It doesn’t matter that maybe we are not seeing this best seller of a fan experience in the same light, or that we have different plot twists or even are reading different chapters. What matters is that we are all doing it together, and that there are common threads amongst us. Meeting up with fans from the sites after the concerts is an opportunity to analyze every last move and note of our beloved main character. This is a conversation that can open up your perception of your fellow fans. Sometimes just hearing a voice and how something is said can change the tone of the comment. On a blog you just don’t get the intonation! Not to mention that a glass of wine or three can change the whole direction of the conversation! As my partner of nearly thirty years said to me after hearing about my after-show debriefs, “How can you possibly talk about David for hours on end?” My answer? “I have no idea. It just happens.”
David has given us another gift: the ability to meet others from around the country, no the WORLD, who have a common cause. I am forming friendships that I expect will last a long time. And maybe, just maybe, we may discuss something that we disagree upon, and come to some common understanding. Even better, we may come to an AWARENESS of each other and why they feel the way they do. My next venture will be to the East Coast where I know I will meet some new characters in our ongoing “play.” I can’t wait because it will broaden my knowledge of them and what they are really like, and I know it will influence how I read their comments from now on. When you go to your next concert, and I know you will, make sure you seek out those screen names you see every day. Then you can decide: “Which did I like better – the book or the movie?”
~mikesd
Mikesd, Thank you for the timely article on … fanship ( friendship developed purely on the admiration of someone?) Is that why when I met complete strangers in Cleveland and Pittsburgh, it felt like reuniting with long-lost friends and we barely need to introduce ourselves?
Wow Mikesd , I love this post, and I agree it’s very timely. Now I feel nervous, but that’s okay. I check over on the update thread daily to see who will be in attendance.
I’ve often wondered if there is a common character trait among us that binds us here. I mean, I’ve wondered this about the structure of an ArchAngel to begin with, but specifically to TDC members, is a whole different question.
I’ve met lots of TDCer, and am looking forward to meeting more in the upcoming weeks. I’m also glad you brought up your partners question about talking about David for hours .. because I’ve already told Abrra (who will be with me for the last two shows) that I am in a zone on David days. I’ve warned her that the reason I’m not good at picture taking or video capturing is because I live in that moment, I sing, I dance .. and I don’t see or hear anyone in that venue except David. I guess I’m trying to forewarn her that I’m not so chatty .. so she doesn’t think I don’t love her.
I’m also trying to put together if my perception of a member changes once I meet them in person. Trying to figure out which is better the book or the movie may be tricky.
Very interesting to think about it.
This is my first participation in a blog, as well as being a fan.. as is evident with my creative originality of my screen name .. hahahahahahaha .. that simple thought process .. screen name .. means something way different now. But I don’t know that I’ll ever change it. Your screen name becomes a part of your identity I imagine. Perhaps I can change my real life name?
I am loving all the comments on this and SF’s post. I have been laughing and crying. Hopefully, I will see David in GR although am a little nervous about the Intersection being GA but since it is my first opportunity to see David live I can’t pass it up.
Here is Don Ashley speaking about the fireside David did recently.
mikesd…Oh oh…how do you read me? Surely, I am one of the loving characters who chats perhaps a little too much!…
I love your article…After seeing the stage empty while waiting for David to appear, I have felt like characters in a play and that is why I jokingly have said that we have stage names instead of the cold username…You read my mind better than I did!
Many of your first happenings are the same for us and perhaps that is why it appears as a mystery that we have been trying to figure out.
Several of us will meet again in Manchester, for the finale, for this part of the world. Oh, the temptation has been there for Alaska and I imagine that someone will be there to tape videos for us. If it is anyone, perhaps it might be kizzi?…There will be some great recaps coming from Manchester for everyone. Then there is Christmas…
SB
Mikesd--Terrific article! Oddly enough, I was thinking about the relationship among David’s fans the other night when several of you were making plans to meet up at various concerts. I was actually thinking what a great bunch of people you all are--offering rides, extra tickets, etc. And it’s not just here that this happens. I’ve noticed similar offers of support/sharing among the younger posters at IDF.

“I’ve often wondered if there is a common character trait among us that binds us here. I mean, I’ve wondered this about the structure of an ArchAngel to begin with, but specifically to TDC members, is a whole different question.”
I have wondered that as well. Are the people who get David from the beginning predisposed already to thoughtful, considerate (dare I say “nice”) behavior? We need to package his lovely persona in aerosal containers. I know several people who need to be sprayed with something to make them more considerate of others.
I am so happy for and jealous of all you who will be getting together for upcoming shows. I debated asking if anyone from here would be attending the show in Dallas. Then I realized I would have my son with me. You know, the son I’ve lectured since he was four about stranger danger and internet safety. “Oh, son. While at the concert, we will be hooking up with some complete strangers I met online.” My husband would have me committed.
Cheers to all!
xaris…over the coming months, it is my hope that many more people from TDC and from FOD and Snarkies, will have the opportunity to meet up with each other. Those of us at Pittsburgh were from different sites who seemed to be under the same umbrella…
We work for interesting recaps not for ourselves, but for the many people on our sites who may not have the same opportunities at the moment…
I am like the background singer in a fabulous choir who very much enjoys the solo singers around me…
SB
Mikesd, thanks for the article! (I’ve been a little absent around here lately because my policy of not seeing or hearing stuff about this Thursday’s concert necessarily involves not reading Silverfox’s post yet!)
Well, this article certainly makes me anxious. Because I have this nagging fear that people like “ronaldsf,” and may or may not like “Ronald” lol! But I’ll be standing there with my arms out saying “Hey, it’s just me! Ronaldsf.”
Hm. Is it that I am trying to live up to the “ronaldsf” role? Or is ronaldsf is trying to adjust with seeing all you online people? Pretty trippy!
It’s interesting (and reassuring!) that I’m not the only one who has done things they’ve never done before to be a fan of David’s, and overcome obstacles of technology, money, and distance. Just as David’s music is uniquely fulfilling for body, mind, and soul, being one of his fans is as much a social experience as it is one of singular adoration.
By the way, I like YJfanofdavid’s word “fanship” up above.
Also, it’s the beginning of a new week, so I’ve put up a new post on my blog!
Once upon a time, there was a little bear who got very angry…
Thanks mikesd for a great article.
The interplay of screenname personality and real life personality is a fascinating one. The anonymity of a screenname is a blank slate that can give us the opportunity to re-invent ourselves. Like moving to a new high school or starting a new job, when we first jump in with a comment, no one knows us and we can be whoever we want. In this new place we might decide to be bolder or kinder or more rebellious. Maybe it gives some of us an opportunity to be more fully ourselves. It’s all possible haha!
It’s interesting to think about. When I think of my regular name, what is my image of myself? When I think of my screenname, what is my image of myself?
Yeah Ronald/ronaldsf – it IS pretty trippy!
ronaldsf: I like this:
“Just as David’s music is uniquely fulfilling for body, mind, and soul, being one of his fans is as much a social experience as it is one of singular adoration.”
Hello!
I read here all the time, but don’t comment. I was talking to ABRRA on blogtv and she told me to come by and comment. I know a lot of names from Rickey.org days, and some just from reading here.
So ABRRA told me some of you are coming to the Providence show? I’m going to that one too, VIP with my daughter. I’d love to meet new fans I haven’t met before! There is a pretty large group from different fan sites going to that show, I’m excited. There are some FOD’ers, some from ArchuletaAvenue, and some from IDF and other places. I go to a lot of sites daily so I am very excited to meet everyone!
mikesd: What a great article and one that is quite thought-provoking. As I think about the people I’ve “met” here and how they seem like old friends, it is pretty amazing to know that I have not met most of them in person. I’m hoping to meet quite a few in Hershey and Atlantic City, and even have set myself up to be a roommate with a total stranger (LOL, Liz).
And it’s very intriguing to try to figure out who people really are from a screen name and avi. When I did meet a couple of people from here in Williamsville, it wasn’t very surprising, I have to say. They were about what I expected -- showing their humor and intelligence in person as they do here.
I’ve grown to feel very close to the regulars on this site and especially to a group of lovable chatters and the admins who I’ve spent time on the phone with and in endless email and chat conversations about all manner of blog business and not-so-blog-business discussions about our favorite topic
I can’t wait to meet as many as possible over the next few weeks, and probably into the next few years as we all stand together and cheer and watch and sigh and THUD as David continues to amaze us.
I’d love to get to know some of the fans from the other sites as well, mainly so we all can remember that we have this one thing in common, we are completely smitten by an 18-year-old singer with a VOICE to die for.
fa3rygirl: I’ll put your name on the list for Providence!
“I’d love to get to know some of the fans from the other sites as well, mainly so we all can remember that we have this one thing in common, we are completely smitten by an 18-year-old singer with a VOICE to die for.”
Marlie, that is exactly why I’m so excited to meet people from all different sites!
Who ARE all you people, and why do I like you all so much?
From the Orlando Sentinel…
The crowd was already pretty amped after Archuleta sizzled in a 45-minute set, proving that his sheepish style during his run on American Idol might have been an act. The teenager commanded the stage and was constantly interacting with the fans, something that he was criticized for not doing on Idol. No one has ever questioned Archuleta’s pipes, and he was in stellar form on Sunday, especially during his popular single, “Crush.”
Thanks for the comments so far… I have been away from my computer for the last 48 hours, in Santa Barbara for a beautiful weekend. Stayed in Solvang, a Danish community just north of the city and when I say Danish I mean DANISH… buildings and all. Well let me tell you there were ebelskivers everywhere! Couldn’t help but smile every time I saw an ebelskiver pan.
Marlie, watch out for Liz…she loves to party and will keep you up all night if you let her!
(Just joshin’… she is wonderful company…We’re going to be Thelma and Louise from Providence to Manchester and back to Boston to catch our respective flights home to California. Liz, I want to be Thelma this time!
Oh dear! My reputation here is getting quite tarnished lol! Okay mikesd, I’ll be Louise.
Mike! What a great article. You speak of all the things that entered my mind about the “fanship” (great word indeed YJfanofdavid!) after my first experience meeting some of the “characters” from blogs. I probably have more to say but I have to wait as I am in the middle of working on some big ol’ promo for a big ol’ national beer brand (ugh) which is the big ol’ reason that’s stopping me in the end from attending any more concerts this summer besides the cost factor. GGRRRRRRR!!!!
I also wanted to let Marlie know I can vouch for Liz being a great, no, make that fantastic roomie and traveling companion. I am thoroughly bummed she is going everywhere without me.
SF, how do you make the crying emoticon?
vermeer,
To
try this: type “:” and then the word cry and then “:” again — for those of us who are not going to be able to witness Louisville in person. Now, how do you group-hug in cyberspace?
Hi Mike!
David has given us another gift: the ability to meet others from around the country, no the WORLD, who have a common cause.
Good article…many things to ponder… A “cause” hadn’t thought about it like that. But maybe that’s another piece of this puzzle. Sometimes I still question the why to all this…like most I’d never been a fan of anything or anyone. To now blog? no way not me… meet online strangers? that’s dangerous! And that’s what I’m doing. I feel like I know so many of you. I confess I’m a little envious of all you getting to meet on the east coast.
If any of you have an opportunity to chat with Mikesd ask him about the radio station story…sorry Mike but I loved that story. Thank you Liz for asking him to share!
From previous thread…
Hi Theresa! So glad you decided to post your recap! To have the courage to sing to David I’m very impressed. I loved meeting you and chatting while SF was being surrounded in Del Mar…lol
Hooked… Nice to see you post again…don’t be a stranger!
Mike, it is quite the pageant, this Archu_parade (zoo?). Move over Faery Queen.
Ronald, as I recall, you are even better in real life.
So is everybody I met waaaay back at the Sacramento Jingle Thingy including Vermeeer and Liz! *waves!*
I don’t even try to explain the phenomenon that is this fan of David thing to myself or anybody else any more. I am still amazed by it, though. All the dang time.
OH, and SPEAKING OF AMAZED … from the previous thread, the teaser about the Lonestar song “Amazed”… a little birdie (ok, it was Janey…lol) just told me that song was not that song David hinted at but was ::::drum rolll:::: “Maybe I’m Amazed”
WHOA NELLY! Prepare to die, folks! (I wish I could get off of this death an killing metaphor, folks. Sorry. But as long as David keeps this up, there’s really not much hope of that. David’s fault.)
Oh, what he could do with that song. I cannot speak of it. (Which is nice.)
*waves to Janey who I know is lurking* :p
Mikesd, a very interesting article. Sharing the “fanship” is a lovely part of the experience, something I have enjoyed immensely at concerts and the VIP session I attended. It also brings up a bit of a dilemma for me that I have been pondering for weeks.
Like you, I have never participated in any kind of a blog before David (He has necessitated many firsts for me.) I commented at Snarkies, and some of you may know me as archugeezer over there, a name I probably chose as an explanation—to others and to myself—that I was old but still completely taken in by this young singer. The spontaneous, snarky patter fit me, but I visited other sites too; and I loved Rascal’s thoughtful articles at notingDavid. The emergence of TDC kept me reading, and I do read and enjoy everything here; but once in a great while, I felt like chiming in. Archugeezer’s personality seemed out of place here, although it is more me. It was like I needed to say something more cerebral for this crowd. I registered as GranFan, still old, still a fan, but maybe trying to play the respect-your-elders card.
I am obviously conflicted, in an amusing sort of way. My ODD is chronic and incurable; the symptoms have worsened and my resistance is shot. I am a forever David Archuleta fan. I want to participate occasionally in the discussions, but I’m not diggin’ the multiple personality thing so much. I wish I had known enough about blogging to take a name and stick with it. Maybe something like “Sybil.” LOL.
beebee….Would that be this one?
Maybe I’m Amazed by Paul McCartney
Maybe I’m amazed at the way you love me all the time
Maybe I’m afraid of the way I love you
Maybe I’m amazed at the way you pulled me out of time
And hung me on a line
Maybe I’m amazed at the way I really need you
Baby I’m a man maybe I’m a lonely man
Who’s in the middle of something
That he doesn’t really understand
Baby I’m a man and maybe you’re the only woman
Who could ever help me
Baby won’t you help me understand,
Baby I’m a man, maybe I’m a lonely man
Who’s in the middle of something
That he doesn’t really understand
Baby I’m a man and maybe you’re the only woman
Who could ever help me
Baby won’t you help me understand, oohhh
Maybe I’m amazed at the way you’re with me all the time
Maybe I’m afraid of the way I leave you
Maybe I’m amazed at the way you help me sing my song
Right me when I’m wrong
Maybe I’m amazed at the way I really need you
Oh maybe I’m amazed.
Maybe I’m amazed.
Yeah, yeah yeah.
Yeah, Maybe I’m amazed.
I’m amazed, with you.
Oo-oo. Oo-oo.
djafans… I was trying to avoid listening to that. lol. I am barely alive as it is.
Guh.
This is really more than I can take.
Seriously.
Mikesd: Oh, I have been to Solvang and bought some needlework supplies and things there. What a cool little town. Thanks for your caution about Liz-the-partier. At least I know we will get along just fine in that regard.
Vermeer: Thanks for making me feel better about LIZ -- I was sooooo worried LOL.
djafan: “David has given us another gift: the ability to meet others from around the country, no the WORLD, who have a common cause.”
Yes, the WORLD! Just looked at some stats and we have had visits from 81 countries….David sure does draw the crowds!
GranFan: Ummmm, I think you are in good company here as far as age goes….just sayin’.
beebee… I just read those lyrics again….shouldn’t have.
Marlie…by the way gotta love those chatters!
GranFan….I’m a grandmother of 8….welcome.
testing….
sorry…testing one more time
Mike..Great, great article! Got me thinking..about something else other than David at the HRC..(so nervous!)
I don’t know the answer to this (which why I’m asking)… I would like to know if what we are, this huge “fanship” we have with each other and David -- if it really is a phenomenon? A group of people connected by an invisible thread, a bond we share, feeling pride & love at David’s accomplishments as if he was our child. People from all walks of life, all ages, all races, gender, where religions & political views differ but don’t matter. Where we are all one in our “Fanship”. Are there any other celebrities out there now or ever, especially a teenage celebrity who has garnered such a following? Is this really a phenomenon? I know there was Elvis and I was a big fan, but this is different, more personal but without a personal relationship with David, more intense, yet with a calm serenity when we hear him sing. And the Beatles, but there were four of them..just not the same, and Michael Jackson was admired for his artistry, but David is LOVED & admired for his artistry and so much more. I just want to know if this is an unheard of phenomenon that we are a part of?
MAYBE I’M AMAZED!!
I have no idea why I picked “silverfox” It just came to me as I was registering at nD long, long, ago.
Can you all imagine when the movie “David Archuleta: The Beginning” is made years from now when David is a living legend? Who will play us when they tell about “all this”
Thanks, friends. 15 grandchildren for me, but it doesn’t mean I am age appropriate.
BTW, Mikesd, Solvang is the best place west of the Mississippi to buy a real deal, cast iron aebleskiver pan. Husband is Danish and I am an aebleskiver pro. (I want to give David lessons.)
Sybil…lol {{granfan}}
Silverfox: The David Archlueta phenomenon…hmmm. You may be onto something. It’s inexplicable. Like everyone else, I am trying to figure out exactly what we have in common? When I went to the Cleveland and Pittsburgh concerts back to back, my husband was incredulous, because I am normally a sensible person and didn’t even like music! I told him at the Cleveland concert there was an native American fan that came all the way from Alaska and in Pittsburgh there was a couple from Nova Scotia (our own lovely Mrs. and Mr. SandyBeach), he shook his head and muttered: “that’s sick!” Ouch! I felt like bursting into the song: “But Do you see what I see …Do you hear what I hear…Do you know what I know…”
Mikesd, terrific post and a lot to think about!
“When you go to your next concert, and I know you will, make sure you seek out those screen names you see every day.”
I’m probably one of the more introverted David fans. I typically don’t introduce myself and I’m known for leaping out of the way when fans start taking group photos at concerts, dinners, etc.:D
The funniest avi? I give the award to Silverfox for the gorilla avatar she used during some radio station’s “going ape” for David promotion. And Theresa, I laughed throughout your recap in the previous thread. For all your travel troubles, I’m glad you got to sing to David.
SF….but David is LOVED & admired for his artistry and so much more. I just want to know if this is an unheard of phenomenon that we are a part of?
WOW! I sure would like to know the answer to that!
GranFan…Age appropriate? What is that?
You should speak to my kids…lol
SF I have just read your comment on MLive.com. You really should be hired as David’s PR person. Now I’m afraid the venue will sell out before I am able to get my tickets…you do such a good job.
Whoa!
Some serious food for thought in your article mikesd.
How will we all know each other in Providence and Manchester? Will we have Hello: I am Abrra tags? I am a gregarious person by nature. Put me in a room of David fans and I will talk to every one of them and ask what screen name they use. I have a habit of asking real names, too. You see, I prefer to call my friends by their given name once I meet them. I have spoken to many of the posters here for one reason or another by phone. I like to think they count me as a friend as I do them. When I did the Tour Cd project a few months ago, many people sent a nice card or hand written note along to me and the team. All these things have bonded me to this site for life.
Dawn and I became fast friends by virtue of our similar personalities. Not sure what else you can call it but we have bonded like sisters. She will be coming to stay with me at my “cave” and I am giving her my very own bed and taking the futon! Now that is friendship! Road trippin’. FTW
I don’t pay a whole lot of attention to a name online or an avi (they change here like the weather) in relation to who is writing behind the name. It’s all about the words. What we write says more about us than any 1″ square picture beside a made up name.
fa3ryg1rl #10
Welcome to TDC , my new friend. We live rather close and I am sure we will bond this winter and go to David’s solo Christmas show if he comes to these parts.
Abrra
Now where do I start… Guys it’s Vee (the little momma) I am still alive. Group hugs from Sydney Australia.XXoooXXooo. JR I am still here. Goboywonder I am still alive after watching LA Nokia concert.
I know I have been slack in not joining but I am still here reading all your comments. In my real world there is so much to do, back to work and sorting out family issues.
In my David’s world, reading everything that is happening, I do think everything is rosy, a bit bumping (read all those “negative vibes”)and hearing BUBBLY and possibly new song/s in his next concert. REMEMBER TRUST ARCHULETOR…He knows what he is doing..SIT BACK AND ENJOY….
Loves all the recap of concerts especially the VIP sessions (dang, missed one when I was there but probably next time).
I am back but sometimes I will be away but you got to believe I am always here with you guys, my cyber family.
To those who have read my previous comments, you know me I like to write long winding comments so I will try not to bore so I will write in stages.
Since coming back home 20th July, it is back to reality as if that three weeks was just a blip in my life but it was real. Back again to my usual routine My US trip was my first and then met some of you guys (in person, Mikesd,Davidfanliz and Djafan;by phone,Abrra and bebereader;then blogging in real time to all of you guys, won’t mention names or I might miss names, not delay, not morning here in Sydney and night there in the States) and was also able to meet new David’s fans from other sites.
Cybername…putting names to faces….internet blogging not one hour but hours..cyber surfing(forget about household chores) ….talking to strangers….giving personal details to people you only knew their cyber names ( ABRAA the spammer!!!, who is this mikesd, sending him money, ).. BECAUSE OF THIS DAVID ARCHULETA.. an 18 year old man/boy from Murray Utah (where is that place anyway?).
But you know what …I don’t care ….I am loving what is happening in my life now. He told me through his songs that LIFE IS TOO SHORT …LIFE IS GOOD…MAKE THE MOST OF EVERYTHING…SAVOUR THE MOMENT
As Djafan said,’David has given us another gift: the ability to meet others from around the country, no the WORLD, who have a common cause. ‘
Jr when I sorted my life here, I will write a short recap of my very first up close and personal concert, 17th July Nokia Concert. Lots of drama but to sum it all “SPEECHLESS. OUT OF THIS WORLD”
Before I forget, Mike tell to them about that radio station story as Djafan wrote.
Okay that’s it for me for today, better wake up, time for breakfast. See you guys in cyberspace…24 hours….
Luv you all my efamily…
bebereader, abrra , I haven’t forgotten my promises. Will be posting soon.
Sorry too long lots of grammar mistakes but anyway submitting it now
Love this thread MikesD and look forward to meeting you at Providence. I was thinking about this today (guess there are never any “accidents” in how things occur), and reaffirmed for me that as I get older I feel a greater need to branch out socially and set goals that excite me. David’s concerts and David’s fans have done this for me. Without my David buddies I wouldn’t have ventured out around the country, alone, to meet strangers and bond with them over his music. It has brought exhiliaration, anticipation, joy and moments to treasure. It’s been such a trip to meet so many of you and it always seems like it’s so easy, so communal. Lily and I often laugh about situations where we look at each other and say “WWDD” and that gives us the answer. Follow the light and I do.
Here’s the Grand Rapids article…
http://www.mlive.com/entertainment/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2009/08/american_idol_runnerup_david_a.html
Vee!!! Glad to see your cyber face again! I have missed talking to you. See you post is reminding me of a promise I made to you. I will take this opportunity to bring up an idea I have about SHARING those EXTRA pesky M&G Goodie Bags.
Last month Vee told me she had her LA tickets but was not able to get into VIP. I knew I was going to 2 shows in August so I offered to mail her my EXTRA bag of goodies. She will sorta get the experience of those wonderful moments we all rave about. She can gaze upon her “David Stuff” with pride and know she went to a show and has the paraphernalia to prove it!
So what do you think of a buddy swap for those who didn’t get the chance to go or do VIP? Anyone want to unload those extra bags?
Marlie (/duck) would that work ok through the contact page?
Abrra
Abrra … how will we know who everyone is?
Seriously.. I’ve had people approach me .. and know who I am .. it’s very weird.
But I think those that have met me.. can pretty much attest to the fact that I am exactly the same person HERE .. as I am in real life.
I have met folks from other sites… I bonded with Luke from LovingArchie and had a grand time with Mary from FOD. She was the first person within the fan base to reach out to me.. I was a teary mess from my total failure meeting.. haha .. and believe me.. I ran right over there and thanked her.. even though I as a rule don’t really post much other than here. She was love .. just love.
mikesd! brilliant post -- thank you! Will I be meeting you in Manchester??? Actually, I’m wondering who I will be meeting in Manchester when I come with my mom, Noni! And to think I almost had a conflict, but I nipped that in the bud pretty darn quick.
*waves and sends hugs to everyone* There’s so many wonderful friends because of David To be quite honest, they are very real friends whom although I’ve never met them, I feel closer to them than some of my own family members. So yes, SF, I truly believe this is a phenomenon.
I’m really looking forward to Manchester, not only for David, but for you guys, whom I can’t wait to hug in person.
♥♥♥
Abbra, I think you just answered your own question on how will we know each other in Providence and Manchester. you said put me in a room of David fans and I will talk to each one of them. Well, the “room” is the Dunkin Donuts Center and the Verizon Wireless Ampitheater in Manchester. Just give yourself enough time before the VIP…
OK before you send a knife through the screen…I’m just kidding! But I’m sure many will have their TDC or FOD or SA or whatever else fan club pin on them. Me, I’ll be easy to spot…probably the only grey haired male amongst many women acting just as crazy as them! Kind of reminds me of the radio station saga…
Early last year when David was doing his radio tour, he started in San Diego. The station was a few miles from my office so I thought I would head up there and see if a crowd had formed. Well, I got there and saw about 15-20 women hanging out behind a couple of SUV’s with signs, etc. As I sat in my car I wondered to myself…”Should I go out there or not??” After about 15 seconds I decided that I wanted to meet David and if this is what I would have to do, then I’m doing it! I strolled by and saw a sign that said “I’m a 15 year old trapped in a 55 year old body!” I asked who brought that sign a a woman close by said “That’s mine.” I said “well what do you know I’m 55 too!” I think they thought I worked in one of the offices nearby. Someone finally asked very inquisitively…”So… what are you doing here?” I said “Well I’m here to meet David Archuleta, just like you!” It only took about 60 seconds and we were all exchanging stories about which Jingle Ball we were going to, etc. etc. They took me in like a wet puppy on a freeway! David was gracious enough to come out to talk to us for about 45 minutes even though we weren’t part of the radio gig. (I actually called the station that morning and offered to make a nice donation to the Proposition about animal welfare that the dj’s were endorsing for an admission to the meet and greet…they said they would get fired if they did that! …Just thought I would ask…)
After that I have seen almost all of them at every event from San Diego to Salt Lake. To hear “Hi Mike!” when you least expect it is great fun!
Nice to see familiar faces in the Grand Rapids Press article online (this is a paper in my region)!
Great article, Mike! It’s nice to see fan friendships made across sites, too.

It was my poor attempt at WARNING anyone going of how I operate.
Abrra
Mike -- I love this topic.
Before delurking at ND, I had never blogged before. But I am so glad I did.
You know, it’s not like the weird neighbor that you get stuck with and befriend just because of the close proximity and there is no alternative.
We have a real commonality. If that makes sense. We all love David. His voice, his personality -- we feel the same. People from all over the world. We just “get” him. Yes Abrra. I used quotation marks again and cannot stop!
New friends are a bonus on top of David’s music.
Right twin?!
“betsy” “I wanted to tell you that your ” ” are cute.”What kind of issues are you having to cause this?” “Ha” “Ha”
“Abrra”
“Issues”
I cannot go there! Besides, you are familiar with my “issues!”
Vee -- So good to see you back here again!!
Freo -- Are you going to GR?
Abrra #39 -- of course! You work out the details and I’ll accept and forward the contact page info to YOU! LOL
By the way, I’ve been hemming and hawing about trying to jump on the Providence/Manchester bandwagon after Hershey and AC, and I’m glad I didn’t sign up for those. Today in the mail I got a notice for JURY DUTY starting August 24th. Sheesh!
Marlie
OK
If anyone HAS or thinks they may have EXTRA Goodie Bag loot to share when the tour is done, send me a note through the contact page link at the top right of the main page. I will match folks up on a first come basis. If you didn’t get to a VIP send me a request. We will see what happens. No guarantees, but its worth a shot to help these folks unload the EXTRAS.
Even if its just a poster or a picture , sharing it would be so
“David”.

Abrra
Abrra,
You are good.
love,
betsy
(((Mikesd)))
I have only seen David perform once -- in SLC, March 27-09. Having met you and others there was wonderful. I cry because I want to meet you all again and also more of you all. My VBH (very brave hubby) came with me to make sure I was OK -- not an ODD fan and I am sure thought I was doing something crazy wanting to meet up with people I didn’t know. Bless him for thinking he was looking out for me. Never once RONALDSF did I worry about “living up” to people’s online expectations of me. I was only there to hear THE VOICE and meet fellow fans. An what an extraordinary experience it was. I was a little aprehensive, though that very quickly dissipated upon the first hello’s.
This “fanship” makes the ride that much more intense for me. I pray that I win the lottery! so I can continue to be able to wonder at the “play vs. book” analogy. Neither is better for me, though meeting a fan certainly gives the online comments a more personal feel.
Also (((refnaf, TOfan, vermeer, davidfanliz, silverfox and her sister -- theresa?, a montreal fan whose name I can not remember over cinner and after show get together…, Gmax? and others at the restaurant -- wish I spent longer talking with you, sandybeaches and hubby in the hotel lobby, and oh if I have forgotten anyone please forgive me)))
Sigh… till we meet again!
#41 Hey Josie my friend!!! How is Noni?
Abrra, thanks for the welcome. I’m hoping you can spot me and my daughter because I don’t know what you look like and you can introduce me to any other TDC’ers that are there. I’m very shy.
Can’t wait for Providence, the days are flying by!
fa3ryg1rl . August 3, 2009 at 7:49 pm .
I will know you by your lovely hair:)
Abrra
Hi awestruck!!
Josie -- looking forward to meeting you and your mom. If you want to see a list of who is going to what shows, you can go to Performances in the black navigation bar at the top of the page, click on 09 Summer Tour, go to 09 Summer Tour Dates, and read the comments toward the bottom. Marlie has compiled (and is continually updating) a list.
**deep breath… cracks knuckles nervously… carefully places “Hello, My Name is Jen A nametag on my shirt** I am all aflutter… So you see, I have put off posting here and before at ND. Which is silly because I am in your demographic. I am in my 40′s, I have a young son and a husband who barely tolerates my obsession. Let me rephrase, My son tolerates it. He has no choice as I control the radio. He knows Crush as #10 on the cd we play in the car. He’s brainwashed, I mean, cool. But my husband, well… he’s running out of patience and the year isn’t over if there’s a Christmas tour. So I consider myself one of you. I am college educated. I wanted a career in vocal performance but bagged it at 19 and walked away from it forevah… I am silly, I have posted on DA sites since just after the AI finale in 2008 starting with Rickey.org./”summer of 1000 post threads”. I am even a bit nervy and bright. But compared to YOU ALL… well… you all are miles ahead of my best “A” game. I’d be so pleased if you’d let me play. Mostly I’ll just lurk in the background. Once in a while if you’d let me contribute would be great. There are some terrifically bright minds on this lovely site. I appreciate you all daily. And if any of you are going to the Greenville, SC concert tomorrow night, I’ll be there. I’ll be the spaz simultaneously flailing to ZG like a maniac and trying to hold my stomach in at the same time. <3 **hugs to Josie, Beebs, fa3ryg1rl and the honorable SF**
Jen A: Welcome!
Please come back and play with us often. And tell us how the show goes tomorrow in Greenville. We love to hear all the details.
Josie -- Do you and your Mom have VIP for Manchester?
OhMyHECK, it’s JEN! *GLLLLOMMMMMMP!*
So VERY happy for you that you are going to the Greenville show!! (and that you stepped into the TDC Complex. lol) Thought you’d fallen off the archu_planet. I hope you’ll be inspired to report back after the show. <3
Josie et all, DJXOX and I will be at Prov. and Manchester. You will know her right off from her infectious enthusiasm. I suppose I should go into my vast collection of Corgiwear and select something identifiable. Then again, maybe not.SF knows me and EVERYONE knows her. Who’s coming from the NYC area?
Kizz girlfriend surely you’ll be winging in.
Jen A .. please come and pull up some space. I didn’t realize we had a demographic.. I’ve never thought about it before. LOL
Now I’ll have to think about that.
Everyone is welcome at TDC .. there are no barrierssssssssssssss.
Please … jump in … and know .. the door is always open.
The word fanship immediately brought this to mind… **please let it work…**
Thanks for the warm welcome! I’m still a little stunned from Beebee’s stealthy frickin’ frackin’ glomp attack!!!
Jen A . August 3, 2009 at 8:57 pm .
Seems like the video isn’t ready. Repost in a bit?
Abrra
Hello Abrra- first video posting fail. I don’t know, it seemed easy enough.
Fa3ryg1rl-hiii! Noni cannot wait for Manchester. I am so excited to see familiar faces & new ones!
Liz-YES I got VIP upgrades because I can’t imagine NOT being there. Did I mention how excited I am?
River-after missing you when we were in Northampton, trust me THAT will not happen again! I may just holla out, “hey peeps, it’s me Josie”
kidding.
JenA! I second beebee’s glomp and add a tackle in there too.
And of course to beebeecava {hug}.
Mike, I love this post and the opportunity to share a heartfelt “Thank You” to everyone.
I came out of a long lurkdom during one of SilverMrs.RobinsonFox’s more colorful chapters and there was no going back. I had never actively participated in a blog before and I remember being very nervous, but….she responded to me! I immediately became addicted to the fun. I had already developed my favorite characters….
Ninaf and I live in the same area . After having met on nD we decided to meet “for real” on a blind date for dinner and a Dylan concert. At dinner she invited me to join her in Albany for an upcoming JingleThingy. I thought, “No way am I driving 3 hours with a total stranger that I met on the internet, in the middle of winter, to a strange place and sharing a room with her. This dinner date is nuts enough, but that would be crazy!! No, not to hear 5 songs. My family would have me committed. Thanks for the invite though, lol.” And so it remained until kizzi organized a post concert get together in Albany. kizzi, TOfan, refnaf, ninaf, HG, djxox and bluebarsa were attending… several of my favorite characters were getting together! I decided I had to venture out of my sanity and give it a go. As all of us who have met our favorite characters can attest, it was beyond fun, perfectly sane, and we discovered that kizzi, blubarsa and I all share the same birthday. As TOfan said, “Like characters in a novel coming to life.” (oh and the show was terrific too, lol.)
I have been able to meet dozens of named and unnamed characters in the TDC book and look forward to the opportunities to meet more. I consider myself to be the luckiest TDCer alive as I have been invited to 3 contest prize events including Sayreville’s meet and greet by songbird, NYC’s HRC by ninaf, and Tribeca by Dawn65. I have had the great pleasure of developing real life relationships with many of my favorite characters, enriching my life as we share emails, AIM chats, meals, concerts, lodging, and friendship with one another. It has in fact been the relationships that have maintained my continued interest in this blog. Thanks again.
Mikesd— Thank you for the lovely article. Put me in the thinking mode. You reminded me of this--when two people are having a conversation-there are actually six people involved.
1. The person you think I am.
2. The person that I convey to you.
3. The person I really am.
and visa-versa
Wow! makes my brain hurt.
There is one person that can pull all six people together-- David.
He is amazing in a thousand ways.
Love this family and would love to meet everyone of you.
Marlie, “Thanks for making me feel better about LIZ -- I was sooooo worried LOL” Hahaha! I just don’t have that quick sense of humor that Mike does.
And speaking of sense of humor, Theresa, you are a hoot just like your sis! Thank you so much for posting your story!
And continuing with sense of humor, {{{ beebee }}} from the last thread you kill me!! You had me ROTFL! I understand all the dying and killing metaphor. I am afraid too to think too much about “Maybe I’m Amazed” and The Voice.
Hi Awestruck!
*waves a welcome* to Jen A.
Jen A! Hello! It’s been a long time since Rickey days. You are one of the Chicago-area fans, if I remember correctly?
If anyone hears if Grand Rapids does a VIP, please share. I am traveling tomorrow and will be out of touch for some of the day.
Betsy #47, I will be going to GR. If Joner and another fan aren’t able to join me, I will drag my husband there.
lol, jen, gotta love lucy and ethel.
Josie, I am so excited for you and Noni (and everybody) getting to go to the finale show in Manchester. And I know the stories will be wonderful. {{hug}} (The videos, however, could kill me.)
{{Vermeer}} Let’s not think of it (much) ok?
Six people… how cool. now multiply that by the millions that David has touched and I think we are approaching universe. I wish.
I do know that a common thread .. is the real life family we all live with.. thinks we are crazy. They’ve had David intrude upon their lives.. they first thought it would pass.
We are WELL over a year into this now … not only did it not pass.. the intensity and devotion is stronger than ever. He is no longer a stranger .. he is part of the family.
We traverse the countryside .. and perhaps.. give David everything we have to give.
Perhaps.. he’s unearthed the plethora of love .. that didn’t exist within us before .. and I could see how that could cause some disdain.
It is what it is, real life family .. my TDC family gets me.. they get my love and dedication for him.. when I fall.. they pick me up .. they never get tired of watching my videos.. they have folders and folders on their computers with pictures .. they breathe the same air .. their hearts beat in the same manner as mine .. and they complete the circle.. they are the tie that binds me to David .. and I will never forsake them.
River, are you Deb’s friend that was at Northampton with her? If so I remember you a little, you were in back of me and my friends during the show. My friend Debbie knows you also. You’re going to Providence VIP with Deb/Djbell right? If so I will see you there! And if I have the wrong person, sorry! meep!
And Freo, you are the one from rickey.org right? I remember you. I’m seeing so many familiar names. Some that I have kept in touch with, some that I haven’t seen around a lot but hello! hello!
**Waves to Happy** Geez your brownies are oh so tempting!
Hello Freo! I actually live in Western North Carolina near Asheville. Perhaps Chicago comes to mind because I flew to Chicago for the HOB solo tour show in March? I tried in vain to contact you and Joner beforehand. Ah well!!
Perhaps other chances.
#55 *waves to JenA*
Jen, I came out of lurkdom too!
I KNOW there are more lurkers out there too….
I have gotten to meet quite a few fans in person this past year or so since the concerts began and my life changed. Some of the best friends I have, and all because of David. I think Providence is going to be epic! And I love all the fans I have met. They are all so caring and kindhearted just like David. I look forward to meeting Abrra and the rest of the gang going to Providence. Pretty soon we will all start recognizing everyone at David’s solo shows. Gotta love it.
Jen A, so sorry we did not make a connection in Chicago! So glad to see you on here. Hello, fa3ryg1rl, I do remember you from Rickey’s!
I hear David is having FUN today at Disney World and I couldn’t be happier! He deserves to have FUN on his day off. But…
I guess he doesn’t realize THAT I’M A NERVOUS WRECK about his appearance here. I did get all my affairs in order. Made sure my insurance is current and paid up. Left instructions that David is NOT TO BE BLAMED if I succumb to The Voice. You all are my witnesses. Thank you.
Good night to all, and for David…
Dear Lord,
Please take care of David. Watch over him, protect him from all harm. Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path. Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give. Surround David with loving and supportive people who love him unconditionally as we, his devoted Archangels do. Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being. Give him rest when he’s weary. Give him the stamina to sustain his hectic pace. Give him assurance when he feels doubt. Give him joy when he feels sad. Cloak him always in your protective arms during this time on his journey. Keep David and and his voice healthy & strong as he fulfills his Destiny which was written in his Book of Life before he was born. And please Lord, give us, David’s forever fans, the wisdom to know when and how to do right by David. Open our eyes and help us in the way we support David so that it’s always in his best interests. May his positive and good Karma continue to attract those with positive and good Karma! May he continue to encounter goodwill and happiness! May he continue to be healthy and strong during this time in the summer tour with Demi. Keep David and his companions safe as they journey across this land of ours, AS WELL AS ALL THE FANS WHO ARE TRAVELING NEAR & FAR TO SEE DAVID IN CONCERT. Though we may be unworthy, we humbly pray. Amen
David, hope you have a good night’s sleep & sweet dreams on the road. Keep with you all our love, prayers and warm thoughts! We will always love you madly! If you are ever in need of help, tweet us an SOS and your Archangels will be there in a flash!
Contigo siempre con amor!
Mikesd, Wonderful article, it seems to have started an efamily getting-to-know-you-better reunion.
Althought I have been to several of David’s shows I haven’t really met a lot of fans per se. I see people, I smile, say hi here and there and have even had some nice conversations. I guess the problem is that I have never participated in any of the pre/post get togethers. This is not because I don’t want to meet everyone, who wouldn’t want to be a part of this “fanship” comradery, but because I usually feel awkward. But I am loving the family get together atmosphere of this thread.
Theresa #146 (last thread), I enjoyed reading your side of the story. You are as entertaining as SF.
Fa3rygir #10, welcome.
Vee #36, It’s good to hear from you. (waves))to the little momma from downunder .
Jen A #55, I also remember you from Rickey’s and those 1000 posts threads.
Beebee (ANY POST), I always enjoy what you say and especially how you say it. I don’t think I have ever thanked you for all the MGRs you have done--thanks.
Hey fa3rygirl~ Welcome!! Looking forward to seeing you again in Providence! Yes,River will be with me again and we both shall seek out Abrra..I have a special greeting just for her.
Jen A~ Welcome and consider yourself warned when it comes to Happy’s brownies…they lead to interventions!! and they are not pretty !! Be strong my friend~
I wonder if David is doing the American Idol Experience at Disney?
dj .. it’s been a really LONG time since we’ve had an intervention.. me thinks it may indeed be Happy that may need one
dawn~ me thinks Happy is a bit nervous ..ya know the “locking HER in the closet” incident….of course I had nothing to do with THAT!!..
As the end of the tour drawers nearer .. we may need to get everything in order … the excitement around here is getting insane.. I’m gonna start passing out valium with the brownies.
I’m an idiot .. I didn’t even see his tweet until just now that he did in fact do the AI experience.
Gah … this work thing is really cramping my style.
djxox, can’t wait to see you again too!
djxox # 82
“we both shall seek out Abrra..I have a special greeting just for her. ”
EH? Does this involve water balloons or joy buzzers?
Abrra
Abrra`~LOL~ there is moisture involved….as for the joy buzzers??? I am NOT touching that..Happy may be lurking….
Jen A. Welcome out of lurkdom! And since you are now part of the family, I posted you on the Tour page as attending Greenville
And now, you must come back and give us a full report.
Hi Vee….long time no hear. Hoping all is well and if you ever have a need you know where to find me.
And as much as I would like to take the credit for this statement I can’t…it belongs to Mikesd.
As Djafan said,’David has given us another gift: the ability to meet others from around the country, no the WORLD, who have a common cause.
To the delurkers welcome and by all means come back.
dawn….Gah … this work thing is really cramping my style.
It’s time for me to start playing the lotto…someone has to win and if I don’t play it will never be me.
dakgal…. I really like this…interesting.
1. The person you think I am.
2. The person that I convey to you.
3. The person I really am.
and visa-versa
Abrra….you crack me up!
What a turn this thread has taken and it seems to coincide with Pittsburg’s solo concert. Something special happened and it has infected us. A thing of beauty all because of David.
Goboywonder, gosh, that’s very sweet of you to say, and no thanks necessary for M-G-R’s. I’m not really that good at making ‘em but, hey, wild horses couldn’t keep me from havin’ at it anyway. I mean, there are simply some archu_thangs to which attention must be paid.
(It’s such a selfish act on my part, I must fess up.)
Wondering where’s Angelica…..
Jen A I’m coming from Columbia tomorrow (it’s now today EEEEE!!!)to my first ever David concert and have VIP. Can’t sleep, Can’t eat, can’t breathe.
I may fit the general demographic as you describe it--but am older. Ronaldsf, I went through that Bar Exam many years ago, so I feel for you. Why do they make you wait so long to find out if you’ve passed. Did you know in some states the wait is only three days? In South Carolina three months.
I am way past retirement age--stuck in the family law practice. You can’t retire when you are responsible.
I rarely post but come here every day, several times in fact, to contemplate, grind my teeth, giggle, gasp in awe (that’s about David--the rest is ’bout the eloquent writers here)
My hubby is coming. He is looking forward to hearing David. Likes his voice but is utterly dumbfounded by the time spent listening to and talking about him. Today he said,”It’s almost like an obsession!” (duh!) When I told him it was, one called ODD, he stuck his lip out like a child and said “I wish you had an Obsessive Tom Disorder.” He totally doesn’t get that it doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive.
Hope to meet up with you Jen. Do you have VIP?
Thanks all for the great comments… I know it is late on the East coast but just a couple of thoughts. Here’s how this group works… It took an email from Liz in the Bay area to let me know that we had two earthquakes south of San Diego. I didn’t feel them at all and didn’t even know they happened. But Liz was concerned that all was ok here. (Oddly enough last time we had a tsunami warning from a Pacific quake I heard it from a friend in Atlanta before our news covered it!) Anyway… we do become an extended family in many ways.It is so reinforced when we meet in person and especially when we have those “chats”.
I know the Christmas tour is coming up and I can tell you if David Archuleta gets me to travel to a cold climate in winter, it will be the first time in 31 years! No kidding. Something is telling me I had better buy a pair of boots and maybe dig out a sweater or two… The things he makes me do…
OK I did go to Salt Lake earlier this year but it was late in the season and I thought it was safe. Not. I froze my…
Mikesd, “Then you can decide: “Which did I like better -- the book or the movie?”
Sometimes the movie turns out to be very similar to the book, and other times, it is startlingly different, but it’s never a disappointment!
I never blogged before either, and was not too savvy with knowing how to choose a screen name either. Mostly I thought this posting and commenting business would just be a temporary thing. Yeah right!! Fast forward by some 15-16 months and it’s still going strong!
This e-community is as real as anything else in my life at this point, especially the more fans -- TDCers, Snarkies and FODers -- I meet outside of the cyberspace and learn their real names behind the screen names and match their real faces with their avis.
It has been utterly fascinating to observe this phenomena of fandom and the internet from the inside. When I first heard David sing Shop Around, never did I ever imagine that was the beginning of a whole new journey that would include some new friends. But it happened and continues to happen, all because of David. Who knew? David is LOVE.
Mikesd, didn’t even know about the earthquakes. Glad to know things are ok. And yeah, you’d better order those long johns in time for the winter. Did you not only have a light jacket at Salt Lake?
daffyfordavid, your husband’s reaction/comment had me LOL, really out loud! He sounded like my husband!
Spamming. Forgot to say see you all tomorrow!
“‘It’s almost like an obsession!’ (duh!)”
lololololololololol
bless his soul
Vermeer, just a light jacket with a couple of shirts. But it sure was hot in that arena!!!!
I’m here, djafan. Still in Orlando, kicking myself for going to Epcot today instead of Disney World. I just knew he was at a park here but Epcot was the only one left for us to do. Had a great time though. Still..it would have been a lot better had we run into a certain someone. I had already decided that if I saw him there I would not bother him…just put my hand to my heart. sigh…
But I saw him in concert the night before and it was, of course, amazing, and ALTNOY and SOT were especially intense and beautiful. Did not do the VIP this time so was really hoping to run into him at the parks. Drat the luck! Oh well, Epcot was a blast; I had never been there before.
At the concert Sunday, met up with Joymus, raelovingangels, 4 fan friends from the Golden Archie site, including Sandra from Venezuela and Hanne who came all the way from Denmark to see David! Met several others but that night these and 2 other GA’s are the people I have gotten to know online and discussed David for over a year with now. Has it been that long? Joymus and rae are so sweet and we all stood out in the lobby (all 7 of us,) during the whole of Demi’s set and talked about the boy. What else? It seemed like I was getting together with old friends and I suppose I was. It really is a phenomenon. I can’t explain it any other way. How did he single-handedly manage to bring so many people together? I have formed so many friendships and each David fan I meet is one of THE NICEST people I have ever encountered. Something intriguing is going on and it can’t be explained because it’s never occurred.
All I know is, there is so much I owe him. OWE him. I won’t bore y’all with all of it, but it constantly manifests in little ways. Like how I would not be having so much fun blogging and discovering movie maker and an online family that I love and feel I can trust. How I was on vacation at Disney World because I love David Archuleta and nothing else would have made me crazy enough to make that spur of the moment trip that was so much fun. Life is just better because he’s in it. I love him more than I can say for being a catalyst for change in my life. Socially, creatively, spiritually, intellectually, he has opened my life up and enriched it beyond what I believed was possible a year ago.
Mike came out to talk to us while we all stood in the venue lobby talking during Demi’s set. He was really nice. I said as he was walking up to us, real sweet-like, in my thickest, southern accent, “Are. you. cunmmin. to. talk. to. us?” I told him he was much better looking and younger looking in person than in pictures. He is. Told him I loved stereo Mike and Dave sitting on stools to play guitar on the side ramps that night, with David on the middle ramp for SOT. heh. I was such a flirt. Why? I don’t know. David brings out the girl I used to be, I guess, the one I thought was deceased; the one he resurrected. The fun girl. haha. Just innocent fun, nothing more, but it was good to know I was still capable of that kind of playfulness. Anyway, Mike took several pics with us and had to keep doing retakes and repeatedly putting his arm around my waist. Yeah, I was two-timing David with Mike big time. Huh, huh, huh! I scoff at you with your own laugh, D. I can get along very well without you. Riiiighttt.
I have filled so much in the past few days with fellow fans, David in concert, Disney World, and met so many truly wonderful people everywhere and it would never have happened if a certain diminutive young man with the voice and persona of an angel had not come into my life.
We must have all done something very right along the way to receive such a blessing. Maybe some kind of life-time achievement award for being kind to animals or helping someone cross the street. Sorry this is so long and silly. I’m tired, but in a good way.
Thanks for the article mikesd. Look what you made me do?
I am a fool. And I love it.
Mike, I loved your article and you for addressing the issue of the fanbase and how it relates to the phenomenon that is David Archuleta. While reading through posts I’ve noticed that many are first time bloggers and/or first time fans of an artist. Well, this is not my first time. I’ve been a fan of other artists. I’ve blogged on other message boards for those artists, gone to their concerts and met fellow fans from all over the world. Since the advent of the Internet, it’s not really unusual anymore to make friends with other fans online and then make plans to meet them. I’ve formed friendships with people in other parts of the country who I have been communicating with by phone and/or email for the last two years.
But things are very different this time around. This is clearly not a typical fandom. Fans of most artists are in it strictly for the music. David’s fans love him completely, for his music, his character, for the way he makes them feel, for the way he teaches by example. We talk about how he motivates us to do better, to make good changes in our lives. There is nothing superficial or surreal about the way we feel for this angelic creature. I think it’s safe to say that most of us would give David the shirt off our backs if he needed it! We’re one loyal, fierce, and demonstratively passionate fanbase. Our feelings are very intense and it’s not only around concert time; it’s the real deal all of the time. I don’t know how this happened. I make myself crazy trying to analyze it every single day. We are the chosen ones and I feel very blessed to be part of this community.
Theresa, Welcome to TDC! I so enjoyed your post. As you can tell, your sister is so loved here and we’re happy and honored to meet any member of her family. Please stay and post often.
djafan #22 Regarding “Maybe I’m Amazed”. Before I saw the lyrics I was thinking I dunno about this song for David. It was never one of my favorite McCartney songs. But who was I kidding! The song was waiting for David to make it his own. He’s going to work his magic on it and it’s going to be another killer!
BTW djafan, What were you testing on posts #26 and @27? LOL
Before I go, has anyone else noticed that David’s onstage and offstage persona seemed to merge at the Pittsburgh show? There used to be a marked difference between the two personas but at Pittsburgh there was a fine line between them. Food for thought.
Betsy #45 Right, twinlette! haha
vee: Glad to see your post. Keep in touch! We miss you already!
Welcome to new posters/ex-lurkers! Glad to have you!
Angelica is back with another beautiful post!
And I must get some sleep!
Sweet Dreams, friends!
Good morning! Stayed up way too late (again!) reading everyone’s funny and always thoughtful comments about the genius who is David Archuleta.
Have not posted anything since the ND days, but I continue to lurk and laugh (and sometimes cry!) almost daily here. I seem to be always reading and catching up on the run…but I’m jumping in now to say how much I appreciated Mikesd thoughts on the unique and loving fanbase here. I don’t know many of you, but I had the pleasure of meeting happy and djxox in the moshpit at Sayreville and then again in Tribeca…also met for the first time, although very briefly, river and bliss in Tribca, too. Such a pleasure…David’s fans “glow” just like he does. Oh, also met djxox again in Uniondale this past May at the David/Demi show (David gets top billing here!), sitting three rows ahead of me, doing what she does best…capturing all the magic for You Tube!
BeeBee back at #20…Maybe I’m Amazed…several days ago I heard this on the radio and thought…David would totally kill this song…all the runs and rifts. And then to read your comments about the song…and then the lyrics…ok…time to get the paddles…again!
River #37…got a kick out of your comment “WWDD?…and that gives us the answer”. So true. I have come to realize that David has become somewhat of a muse to us here. Webster’s Dictionary defines it as:
muse (noun)--”a source of inspriration; esp: a guiding genius.” and “a spiritual or intellectual guide.” So there it is.
A Muse is also defined as…” any of the nine sister goddesses in Greek mythology presiding over song and poetry and the arts and sciences.” …keep listening to your muses, David. We know you have many who inspire you…
Anyway…my family (hubby and three kids) are flying out on Thursday to Chicago for a long weekend (we are in NY)--and my daughter and I (she’s 17) are taking a little …ah…side trip to Rockford with our VIP tix! Soooo looking forward to this solo show ..with a seat!…but honestly, who sits?? Not this crowd, I’m sure! The excitement of this event will be magic for us, but I almost don’t want it to come too fast…then you get that inevitable combination of euphoria and let down after a David show because the experience is over much too fast. Once again…thank goodness for You Tube!
Angelica #103 and BeBereader #104--beautiful thoughts. Reading my mind.
By the way…Angelica or anyone else who can do this…do you have the link to the three spectacular tributes to David recently posted? Meant to save them, then inevitably was interrupted and now I cannot find them. So, if it’s not too much trouble for the link…that would great!
My real life calls me now (MMMooommmm!!…HHHHoney!!!)
Angelica…#103 Good morning…
“We must have all done something very right along the way to receive such a blessing. Maybe some kind of life-time achievement award for being kind to animals or helping someone cross the street.”
This was mentioned at the after-concert gathering in Pittsburgh, actually the whys and why us… We often try to figure things out but seldom can find the answer.
It wasn’t something that we did perhaps (but it would be wonderful and I do rescue dogs when I can!)…
It is amazing that we have something like this to even talk about and I love it…
SB
I blame beebeecava. I have been lost in ryco62′s Pittsburgh videos for 2 hours now.
Calling to BETSY! Please post -- I haven’t seen Adam in a while and need a lil fix. He must be so big now…how old?
My cup runneth over…really -- reading everyone’s thoughts truly fills me up. We ARE the lucky ones.
Have a great day ♥
Good Morning Everyone,
Mike -- such a beautiful first post -- IDK where to start? All I know it is all so true.
Bebereader -- You’re so right about for us its more than the music. The songs are an extension of himself -- the talent to sing, the emotion for every song coupled with the desire to make us feel good inside when we hear them, and his beautiful personality -- talking to us between the songs and the heartfelt thanks for the support we give him. He reminds us at every opportunity, so the connection with David is multi-dimensional.
I had the pleasure to reunite with Rae and to meet for the first time Angelica and some other friends from GA. From the moment I met with them, conversation flowed effortlessly. If we had met elsewhere as strangers IDK if we would have warmed up to each other so easily. David is the tie that collectively binds us together.
Because we talk to each other all the time on this blog, there is already a bond. So by the time we put faces to names, half the work is already done. Conversation also flows because there are no barriers of lag time, constantly refreshing on the computer to see if someone has responded to a post. We can talk to each other seamlessly, regardless of site affiliation, and for hours on end. Additionally, it is wonderful to meet people from all across the U.S and countries around the world.
We are friends of David and fast becoming friends of each other. This is all bonus points on top of loving someone so remarkable.
Forgot to welcome to TDC -- Jen A.,Spellbound and Daffyfordavid.
Thanks for your great comments!
Good day to all (morning noon or night as the case may be!)
#95 Daffy4David- I am very excited for you to hear The Voice live for the first time! My husband took me to the AI show last August in Charlotte and truly was a magnificent sport about it. Although one year later he is still reminding me of that fact!
In light of already seeing one show this year I unfortunately was instructed not to buy a VIP ticket as the price of that ticket surely was, and I quote, “Not at all worth it for a t shirt and poster, have you completely lost your mind, Jennifer?” You get my drift! To be sure, I tried… (in a small, meek voice) “But the acoustic set that DA does makes the price well worth it, dearest. Not everyone gets to be in a small room and hear DA sing from a few feet away, my darling.” Pishaw, harrumph, wah wah wah wah…
I also caught the HOB show in Chicago in March which was beyond belief!
SO NO, Daffy, I am going to the concert only and I wish you an incredible VIP experience!!! I shall be driving to SC and meeting Wanda, proprietress of Archuleta Avenue and her lovely little girls for dinner and will be sitting with them at the concert. We are Section 103 Row BB if you wish to try to locate us! I will be doing my very best to be as dignified as possible with children present. HAVE AN AMAZING TIME!!!!
Daffy,
Please be a dear and tell us about your experience when you return. I am sooo happy for you. It IS a thrill to not only hear but to see David in person for the 1st time. You are in for a real treat. All I add is as soon as you’re done, you’ll be asking yourself when can I see him again?
yeah, Mikesd, this is a topic I have thought about alot! I am also a blog newbie, as well as all other aspects of fandom. I had no idea that this would develop into a “real” part of my life. Screen names and avi’s have become just one dimension of the people I have so far had the joy of meeting! I remember very clearly putting out my first tentative feelers to meet up with TOfan last July (we celebrated our one year anniversay, lol) and it has been a great year! Road trips FTW!!
I love the international connections being made! Prior to David I did not personally know any Americans or spent much time in the US. Now I have travelled to Utah, California, PA, NY, Michigan… and soon Vermont and RI….eeeeeeeeeeee and have friends everywhere!
Dakgal, interesting tidbit on the 6 way conversation, how true!
mikesd, I think a Christmas concert in Canada would be in order!!
Welcome delurkers!!!
Spellbound your idea of us as muses and and he as ours, absolutely!
(((Awestruck))) ditto!
Bebereaer, your question about David’s stage persona is forcing me to go and watch ALL the concert vids I have missed lately… poor me.
“My cup runneth over…really -- reading everyone’s thoughts truly fills me up. We ARE the lucky ones.” me too Josie
Louisville is UNDER WATER!!!
It has been raining NON-STOP for three hours..not just raining but more like a deluge!!
The cars in the parking lot of my office building are UNDERWATER..except for mine, since I always park on a slope far from the building…(the walk is good for me).
The HRC is DOWNTOWN! I have no idea how this is going to affect David’s show tomorrow night. I have no idea YET, if the venue is flooded. I will call them later. The interstate ramps to the downtown area are CLOSED!
Weather tomorrow calls for thunderstorms. WTH!!!
SF somehow I just got this image of you swimming to the venue…
Mikesf
I hate to admit this, but I don’t know how to swim..never learned cuz I’m chicken! Well, I can’t breathe underwater! I know..pathetic..
The rain has subsided…I did not have to build an ark! Yay!
updated forecast..there may be bursts of thunder & rain throughout the day today, and about a 30% chance of occassional showers with the sun peeking out too, for tomorrow. Sounds a lot better!
Good vibes..good vibes..good vibes..good vibes to David & all his fans who are flying or driving in tomorrow for David’s concert for a safe trip.
I know I sound cra-zeh! pay no attention…carry on..
See you all later!
SF….I don’t know how to swim either…lol
Prayers and good vibes going your way…
bebe…testing trying to change my avi….yay!
Thank you Marlie for your help!
Just so you all know I’m not spazzing over a little bit of agua…our mayor just came on TV to let us know what is happening. We had 6 1/2″ of rain in ONE HOUR. That is a record for Louisville…and we get a lot of rain throughout the year! So rain is not unusual, but that amount in so short a time is unusual. Clean up is starting now. I just called the HRC and it is FINE, it was not flooded!
I am just so thankful if we HAD to have a deluge, that it was today and NOT tomorrow while David & some of his fans would be on the road and closing in on Louisville. It would have been way too dangerous!
OK..I’m done..no more updates, I promise. Unless we get another storm later today which is a possibility. I’m grateful that I can use TDC to ease my stress. It’s really ALL ABOUT DAVID, even if it doesn’t seem like it!
refnaf #112
“Bebereader, your question about David’s stage persona is forcing me to go and watch ALL the concert vids I have missed lately… poor me.”
refnaf It’s most evident in the Pittsburgh videos. We sometimes comment on how David could miraculously morph into his mature stage persona of all man/where did the boy go/testosterone-filled oh my goodness powerful performance and then after the song was over, he’d return to his shy-er offstage persona when he spoke to the audience in between songs. I noticed at Pittsburgh, since the entire audience was there to see him, David’s comfortability level increased and with it came confidence. With this new confidence, I saw the two personas merging into one. Watch Pittsburgh refnaf, and then tell me what you think.
dja #117 Beautiful avi!
SF Will be praying for good weather for tomorrow for Louisville! See, it’s already working!
So, many of us mention that we are going back to “our real lives”.
I believe that this is more of a real life. This is more of what “our real life” should contain, which includes the wonderment and enjoyment of the music we love and meeting people who want to share it with us. Real life, as everyone calls call it, is the expected path that we should be taking. ‘This’ real life, is more of what we are now living, a combination of responsibilities, family and being empowered enough to follow something that we deeply enjoy and care about…The downside to this, are the days when you are looked at like you must be crazy or obsessed and you are not at all understood, or your love of the certain music is just not that important! But, I will quietly go along with what I have been given.
Just rambling I know!
SB
What a great post & thread to come “home” to after an Internetless long weekend! Thanks, mikesd!
Happy DAnniversary, Ref & Sunshine!!! “I think a Christmas concert in Canada would be in order!!” … be still my heart!
I’m sure others have said this already but it’s true — connecting with other David fans has been as life-changing for me as discovering David and his music … I would love to meet every single person, if I could, and hear your stories … I could go on and on about this, but I’ll just say {{{group hug!!!}}}.
I remember taking the airport shuttle from the SLC airport to the hotel with Refnaf for the final solo tour show and the driver said my name and asked if that was me. A little weirded out, I said “um, yes.”
“Great!” she said. “We’ve had a bunch of calls at the front desk asking if you’d checked in yet!”
We laughed hysterically … that had never, ever happened to me before and these were people I’d never even “met” yet …
But I told her, “thanks, I guess my friends are all checked in”…. (Gotta go find Theresa’s recap!)
Bebe (#104) Have we NOTICED “that David’s onstage and offstage persona seemed to merge at the Pittsburgh show?”???!!! UH, YEAH! I’ve only been *flailing* about it for over a week now! LOL. I SWEAR, to me, anyway, it seems glaringly obvious that something has *kerthunk* dropped into place for David. There is an undeniable “je ne sais quoi” about his presence and presentation. YES MA’AM. No doubt ABOUT IT.
*waves to Vee!*
Josie, (#107) now how can I be held repsonsibe? HM? *glares* It is ALL David’s fault and his co-conspirator ryco62. Don’t you try to pin it on me. *wags finger* I’m merely a victim. It’s funny, I got caught up in the Bubbly Vortex and knew I had some serious catching up to do. So I try to pull myself together and steel myself for taking in the vids from the rest of pittsburgh and the shows that followed… RIGHT? Then ryco62 happens. I’m way too frail and vulnerable for this stuff. I am not gonna survive.
Spellbound,(#105) I know! *hands over spare set of paddles*… I listen to “Maybe I’m Amazed” and just think, what a wickedly PERFECT vehicle for that THANG which is done by David. PHEW! It’s funny, another fellow fan, Beene (Beene, do you LURK here?? *looks up at the ceiling*) said that just day before yesterday she specifically thought of “Maybe I’m Amazed” for David, just out of the blue, and then *bam!* the next day talk about it was circulating based on a VIP and a reference to it straight from David’s mouth. (He’s always sending out psychic memos…lol…I swear he sent me a psychic memo about fireflies before he tweeted about it. Jez sayin’)
Anyway, as JackRyan mentioned in the last thread, it’s not JUST that it would be a divine vehicle for David’s divine genius that gets us all weak in the knees, but that HE EVEN SELECTED IT TO BEGIN WITH that blows us away, too! Holy Moly! (But why should this surprise me? He’s a genius. He does genius-ey things. Right? Right. Easy as falling off a log for him. No biggie. Sheesh.)
Just for clarification, I’ll recap what I know about the “Maybe I’m Amazed” buzz. I certainly can’t say with authority it’s a done deal. All I know is what was related on the last thread based on what Gengen reported on her Chinese site: that “According to the peeps who attended the VIP yesterday. David played a little of this song, mentioned that he has been practicing this” and then the Lonestar song “Amazing” (a pop country ballad/love song) was cited on the thread (and I assume on Gengen’s site). But then Janey (shameless lurker that she is *waves to Janey*) volunteerd to me that the song was, in fact, not the Lonestar song, but (McCartney’s, I assumed. I know no other) “Maybe I’m Amazed.” So, there you have it. We shall see if he actually covers it in the upcoming shows. *Braces Self*
Jen, (#110) have WONDERFUL time! Bask in that Archu_glow!
SF! (#113, 115)) YIKES! *good vibes* *good vibes* *good vibes* I bet by the time fans are in line it’s all post-storm sparkly-drops glistening in the sunshine with requisite rainbow. Wouldn’t be the first time. *fingers crossed* And you don’t sound cra-zeh to me. (For what THAT’s worth. heh.)
(Too bad I don’t have a parent in the house to limit my coffee consumption. Sorry y’all.)
My dear little sweet honey beebee!
You just make me LOL every time I see your posts! You bring the sunshine in with you! RAIN? What rain? I don’t see no stinkin’ rain!! Honey beebee brought in the sunshine & rainbows!
Muchas Gracias!
Theresa, ROTFLMAO at your recap on the prev. thread!! Hope you’ve now got the posting “bug”!
Angelica, am thrilled to hear SOT is back in the lineup! It’s my husband’s favourite (and one of mine) and he’ll be coming to the Manchester show, so I was trying to break it to him that David hasn’t been singing it on the Demi tour. So glad it’s back!
Maybe I’m Amazed????????? Is he for real?????????
Hi All. Even though I check in & read daily, this is my first post since the migration from ND. I had the pleasure of having lunch with Mr/Mrs SandyBeaches, SilverFox, Theresa, & YJFan in Pittsburgh & was blessed to partake in the EPIC show that David treated us all to that evening. I love your site but am no match for the eloquent writers who “live” here.
SilverFox, I’m one of the 3 VA ladies who are supposed to fly in to Louisville for tomorrow’s show … I’m freaking out a little bit this afternoon …
Update on the “One” Campaign letters:
SF is scheduled to bring them to David tomorrow at the solo show. According to my local UPS, the box made it to Louisville and is on a truck for delivery, later today. Please pray that flooding has subsided and that the trucks can hit the road to make their deliveries, one in particular! heh And the race is on! Will know more later, from UPS tracking and from SF.
We need some positive energy here friends!
beebee: Think you can work some more magic here?
DebVA..no worries! I’m so sorry for losing it earlier! There is flooding throughout the city, but tomorrow should be fine for travel.
We are expecting another round of strong storms within the next hour so I am going home now, BUT…
Tomorrow all this will just be a bad memory..David will be in town and with him comes beautiful skies and good vibrations even if in reality the skies are gray.
See you later! And I will see you tomorrow Deb!
Theresa…#146 from the previous thread…
I have to say that Theresa is so comical and always with a straight face sensing what you are concerned about and then teasing away.
I first met Theresa in SLC at David’s first solo finale. We were leaving the hotel and she came around a corner and passed by us. I said that if I didn’t know any better, I would think that she was silverfox…A moment later, I met silverfox for the first time. The unusual thing for me was that they really did not look that much alike…ah, I can’t explain it any better…
It was an exciting time in SLC and we all seemed to be leaving for the hotel at the same time except for Theresa. We, including refnaf, TOfan and SF, left with a quick hug for each other. From the doorway of the hotel came the sensible and caring Theresa, saying, “How about saying good-bye to your sister?”…Theresa, it has been great spending time with you at the concerts and having you keep us seemingly mature adults…ah ha!
I look forward to seeing you again in the near future and please stop by TDC more often to say hi…
SB
sorry…leaving “from” the hotel…gotta keep a story straight…
THANK YOU, SilverFox. Be careful, take care, & I’ll see you tomorrow!!
Hi DebVA (waves vigorously)! I wondered if I was the only one here from Virginia. I hope all of you traveling to Louisville have safe journeys and a whole lot of fun. How could you not?
SF-*phew, whoosh, phew, woosh*…. don’t panic, lie on your back and float. It seems I have completed my SCUBA certification just in time to “tired-diver-tow” you to the venue. I am sure that David will have a more sophisticated method of travel, but I might be your best option. Pack a change of clothes in a water tight plastic bag and wear a cap to protect your gorgeous silver tresses. As an added bonus, I’ll leave the tank for you to breathe from during the show.
SF- I’ll be thinking of you. It will happen.
BTW I just saw the photo of the Greenville venue tonite and I judged a dog show there last spring. SMALL World! It’s really quite nice. David’s presence will make it more so.
Mr Sunshine… Louisville needs you!
One other random thought. Someone mentioned the mike-changing-hands thing. I was re watching When You Believe from Idol last night and noticed that most of the time during the season he held the mike soley in his left hand, leaving the right hand sort of at a loss. By doing all these hand changes he doesn’t have to even think about awkward hands. I recall him talking about this issue right after Idol. Just saying…
Hi xaris!! Waving back!! Yippee for another fan in VA. I live in TJ country; how ’bout you?
Okay, trying to be calm (must listen to David sing) & getting ready to head out on the first leg of my trip. Flight is eaaaarrrrly in the morning, so I hope all will be well by then.
Looking forward to talking with you all more after this trip.
Happy #132, ROTFLMAO!
Marlie7, you’ve been called for jury duty? Can you be objective these days? I have a feeling you’ll find the accused either Crazy, Desperate, too late to Apologize or (if it’s bankruptcy court) … a little too not overdue
TOfan, ROFLOL. I should tell them that when I get there so they let me out!
Dakgal and desertrat. I’m trying to help you two get together, but you BOTH have errors in your email addresses. dakgal -- got yours from your profile here. desertrat, yours from what you typed into the contact page.
To make this easy, you can email me at marlie7@thedavidchronicles.com
Xaris and DebVA, Hi!
Where are all the VA ladies from? I always perk up at the mention of VA fans since I am originally from there.
Silverfox, nice to know you LOL when I post, because lord KNOWS I LOL when YOU do! {{{HUG}}} Ok, not ALL the time, because sometimes you wax pure eloquence and shiver our timbers. But you make me L. my A. O. with alarming regularity. :p
And OY VEY! I saw pix from the weather channel of flooded streets in Louisville! =:O So glad you have confirmation that it’ll all be ok by showtime tomorrow. This is one time when THE SHOW MOZ DEF MUST GO ON! I can’t remember what you told us…will Theresa AND two of your kids be at the show with you?? (Oh, Man. This is gonna be GOOD. LOL)
Happy! You think of EVVVVERYthing. Does that tank have a handy pocket-defib attached, too? (Gimme a brownie. *grabby hands*)
Bebe, *fingers crossed* for the special package.
Ok, I am gonna STIFLE myself, now. Enuf iz Enuf.
*sits on hands* *waits for Greenville tweets*
happy…WOW…congratulations on your scube diving certification…not an easy challenge for anyone…I hope that you enjoy scuba diving and have a story for those of us no where close to having that kind of bravery! Those tanks are heavy! Louisville weather with pictures of flooding look scary…A lot less rain I believe for tomorrow…
SB
The worst is OH-VAH!! Still can hear some rumbling thunder, but just sprinkles now. Lost of road closings though.

.
Secondly to my sweet beebeecava. I guess you aren’t REALLY to blame, but I can’t very well reprimand the true culprit now can I? Xo
What a great thread. This is only the beginning of a beautiful friendship my friends. (Ok so I’ve been saying this for a year now but hey just sayin’).
SF -- I’ve been watching the weather channel and thinking about you. Stay safe and dry!
As for GR -- I am waiting impatiently for the regular tickets to go on sale!
Jen A -- You make me laugh. Please press submit often.
Technical question: How do I link one saved picture to here?
right click, then which option?
betsy -- you can’t link a picture that is saved on your own desktop machine. And you can’t really upload it to the comments. But email it to me and I’ll put it…somewhere…LOL (there’s a pictures page somewhere in this mansion) and post a link to it.
Or if you know where it is on the web, you can go back and post the link here.
FREE TICKETS:
GranFan has 2 FREE tickets to Rockford and wants to give them to someone who has never seen David live before.
I have 2 FREE tickets to Hershey and have the same desire -- to give them to someone who has not seen David live before.
Send me a note through the contact page for either set of tickets.
Thanks Marlie
I’ll just make it my new avatar. Just me being a crazy Nana. All Josie had to do was ask about Adam. I took a new picture and just love it so much!!
p.s. Last time I checked, I had 39 avatar pictures saved. This is crazy.
Betsy!!!! Thank you and oh what a picture!! My Adam fix is satiated…for today
Josie (#142), you CAN and you SHOULD. He’s 18 now and it’s high time he took responsibility. :p AND Truth be told, I do believe he HAS taken responsibility. That Archu_Confidence Voodoo tells it all. Seeing it all unfold… just gets my *giddy anticipation* rolling like a runaway train. Everythingisdangerous. lol
Folks, he’s a big boy now. He can handle it. (And I’m prit-tee sure he’s the only one who can. lol)
It’s all his fault. Yep.
(remember that movie and song “You’re A Big Boy Now”. John Sebastian? “well, I don’t know howww… but you’re a big boy now…” *hums*)
DebVA and Beebee! I’m not far from you Deb. How funny! I live near W&L and VMI. And Beebee--I did not realize you were from VA as well. Yay!
Marlie--Try one of those handy excuses on the back of the jury duty card.
Medical exemption: I have ODD and cannot concentrate for
longer than 2 hours without viewing certain DLG videos on
Youtube.
Pre-arranged travel: I am a groupie for an 18-year-old
pop star and will be following him over the eastern
seaboard during August. Use Silverfox as a reference.
Cheers all!
Josie -- you are so sweet.
“What a turn this thread has taken and it seems to coincide with Pittsburg’s solo concert. Something special happened and it has infected us. A thing of beauty all because of David.”
Amen djafan, Amen!
David blogs!
Howdy all! Today I’m in South Carolina for my first time, and am looking forward to the new crowd! I have to head to soundcheck, meet and greets, and then to getting ready for the show pretty soon here, but just thought I’d let you know about the last week.
A week ago I had the PIttsburgh show, and I had such an amazing time! I really miss those solo shows, and I feel like I can relate to the audience so much more. Thanks to all of you who came out to that show and made it what it was. I’m looking forward to the other solo shows during this tour! The next 2 shows are actually solo ones! So I’m excited
. The one tomorrow is in Kentucky, and the one after that is in Rockford, Illinois. For the Kentucky show we’re going to be trying a more toned-down set of the same songs I’ve been doing, but where the audience can focus more on the music and vibe. It’ll be my first time trying something like this out, and it’s always something I’ve wanted to try. The rest of the shows will be the same as before where it’s about the energy and fun haha. I’m really looking forward to all of the shows though.
After the Pittsburgh show, we had the North Carolina show, and then went down to Florida! The state where I was born and lived my first 6 years of life haha. We had a day off there, and so I got to spend it with some friends who are amazing people! I also got to spend time with my Grandparents! I love them. My grandparents were actually able to come to all 3 of our shows in Florida, and it was so great. I honestly don’t remember the last time I was able to spend that much time with them, so I’m really grateful for it. My cousins, aunt, and uncle also came to the Orlando show. In addition to all of them, I tried to get a hold of other relatives I knew I had in Florida but had never met. My mom has a cousin in Florida who she hasn’t seen in 16 years, so I invited her and her kids haha. So my 2nd cousins came. It was a great big family reunion! The next day we had off in Orlando, so I got to spend time with friends and family in Disney World! It was so much fun! I’d tell you more about it but I am running out of time and am even writing this while I’m up on stage haha. So I’ll have to tell you guys more stuff later. But what a great week spend with family
. You gotta do more of it! I didn’t even know these 2nd cousins existed until I did some research and invited them myself to the show haha. So you guys should do some research and see if you have any family members you haven’t met yet, and then let me know your stories! I think it’s always fun to hear that kind of stuff. Well I better go now so ttyl!
Song for the day: First Train Home -- Imogen Heap

Song for the day: First Train Home -- Imogen Heap
xaris, I’m a displaced Virginian (in Napa, CA. Oh, hurt me.) But I grew up in the Tidewater region and lived in (Ye Olde) Williamsburg for MANY years before heading west.
(We MEANT to move BACK to Va… but, um, we forgot to. heh. oopsie.)
O MY HECK, David’s new blog. BUCKLE UP, LOUISVILLE!!!
http://davidarchuletanetwork.ning.com/profiles/blogs/todays-blog-9
Betsy #150 -- I wouldn’t even mind seeing his last few months I’ve apparently missed….do you still have my email?
Julee #151 -- I’ll second that Amen sweet friend!
Beebee--I love Napa. My husband went to Stanford, so we visit CA occasionally. I am very familiar with Williamsburg as I went to W&M. In fact, I was just there in June, taking our son on a campus tour; it is his first choice in colleges. And shame on you for forgetting your home!!
BEEBEE. WHAT? WHAT? You are in NAPA? Just one big ole flat desert between you and me? You are busted young lady!! Too bad my parents are not in Santa Rosa anymore.
Granfan is busted too! Just read through this whole thread. Archugeezer is a truly amazing and hilarious person. She enriches my life just knowing she exists.
Josie
Oh, gosh, David shared this about Louisville (below). Silverfoxe and others going, we want *details*!!
Thanks SF for the Grand Rapids info. Joner and I got VIP tickets this afternoon!!! We are so excited. Joner is going to Rockford (I was not able to due to work travel). But we’ll be doing VIP for both Milwaukee and Grapid Rapids. So much to look forward to!!
For those extremely lucky people going to the Louisville concert, best take balloon weights, seat belts, saftey harnesses and air bags. It’s going to be a “moooooving” experience. so jealous I just can’t stand it.
I know….the Louisville show will really be something to see. David has said that he wants to go in a more organic sound direction with his next album/career and I dare say that he is trying a few things out with the Louisville show. I am dying to hear how it goes.
MIKESD -- Great article! As I have yet to attend a David concert with any of you guys, my reply to the question “which do I like better, the book or the movie” will have to remain theoretical.
Either way, I can imagine that each form is only a slice representation of the whole. One thing am sure though: that there is at least one slice that I will relate with and that I will love in each and everyone of you
I remember reading somewhere that fandom [or fanship as YJfanofdavid calls it], is the best friends you’ve never had. Nice to know one is never alone in this cra-zeh trip.
SF my dear, I believe that if you could will the weather to calm down you’d do just that for David, tee-hee
It is also raining cats and dogs here as typhoon Kiko leaves our islands. It’s as if the heavens is also mourning with us Pinoys. The remarkable thing is, the rains would give way to sunshine when most needed. There are really just some things that defy logic.
just popping in before starting dinner…
good article…
but I had to laugh when thinking..funny things can happen when you only have a screen name to go on..only just last week did I realize BlissKasden…formerly thought of by me to be an articulate woman, who’s viewpoint I often related to, was a guy! (at least I’m pretty sure that’s what I read on one of the threads) ha. and I thought we were all coming across so clearly..;-)
OT: (teenlike lapse of O.D.D coming on) VOTE VOTE VOTE: http://tweeterwall.mallplace.com/tw/worldwide/best-male-solo-artist
David’s “2nd” only (by way too much) to Adam L. (what?!)
C’mon DA peeps…bring on the numbers…
To you lucky SOLO show attending peeps..words can’t describe my envy. Through my tears I say…Enjoy~~~~:)
whattya know, I have an avi! haha..came up as a surprise to me!
..was just playing around with the site briefly days ago and uploaded one pic to see if it worked..didn’t think I’d finalized it and was toying with other shots..but…this one “works for me”..for now..beats my invisible-poster-box!
FREOFAN on #158 -- OMGah, Louisville will be epic. I have always wondered when he will do a toned down version of Crush, for example or a bluesy sit-down number on WFM!
Am getting the chills just thinking about it. And if he sings Maybe I’m Amazed there, you guys better have a video of it!
Aaaahhh, lucky, lucky Louisville peeps. Probably, this gig will be the closest to what we were discussing before, you know pure David, just TheVOICE minus all the screaming — of course, that is if you can help it… LOL
MomJulee *hands in air* Guilty. …I am in Napa.
xaris, WOW! You’ve got it all covered. (Don’t worry, I’ll never forget my home) I didn’t go W&M (went to college at a small lib arts in MD). However, I AM plenty familiar with the Green Leaf and Paul’s Deli.:p (Dang, now I want a cheese steak! lol Or some bbq from Pierce’s) You probably know more about Napa than I do!
Freo, that part of the blog has me jumping clean outa mah SKIN! =:O
I just figured out that Janey is barrelling toward Louisville even as I type. Gooo Janey! Wooooot! <3
Louisville is gonna be…. guh…
momJulee #157
Oops! It was a cathartic confession. It is so much fun to be around you and other David fans. It’s a new thing for me (the ONLY thing new about me). My daughter decided after the Las Vegas VIP that archugeezer was at least a C List celebrity in the fanship. She pegged you as an A-Lister right off, and I knew she was right when you sneaked off to Pittsburgh.
I’m supposed to be in Rockford for Thursday night, but it isn’t happening. Long story, but apparently you can’t get out of Idaho at the last minute without either a private jet or a covered wagon. So, the next time you chat with David, please give him a message for me: “Go West, young man!”
Louisville…hmm…if I pack and leave in an hour and drive all night…
..from what I’ve just seen online tho’ at Snarkies..may need a boat..hope it gets better quick!
Hi everyone! Lots of catching up to do. Just getting back from Orlando. Had a mini vacation with my kids after the wonderful show Sunday night…. am exhausted from trapsing aorund Sea World! Hey guess we should have done Disney yesterday! But figured it would be crowded and hot.
At any rate I was so honored to meet the lovely Angelica and her equally lovely David fan from her neck of the woods. Also, ( forgive me if I get the name wrong) but the lovely Bama87 and two amazing Archies from DENMARK ( YEP) AND ( oh my was it Brazil or Argentina?) and of course my special Florida Archie, Joymus, my concert buddy. I wish I could have spent more time with everyone but my kids were back at the hotel and I hated to leave them too long, even though I could have spoken to those lovely ladies all night long. Joymus and I had excellent seats and we both NEEDED another concert. I am looking forward to reading Mike’s article. I guess at first blush/quick read, I feel all David’s followers share a common bond, and when we get to know each other on line, that is more of the “real” self, than in person. ( this may have already been stated) At any rate, good to be home. David brought down the house in Orlando and it was my honor to be there and meet everyone. Mike came out after Demi’s show to meet with some fans, yep that meant us. We got our picture with him and chit chatted a bit. I was still a bit archuhigh, so perhaps a more reliable repoter than me, such as Joymus or Angelica can share what he said.
oops, meant to say Mike came out during Demi’s show and of course we were all congregating in the “lobby” of the area, just getting to know each other a bit, learning about the VIP experiecne that day etc. Yes, I do believe we are all drawn to David for a reason. Or perhaps we are just superior beings with more developed souls( which I like that explanation also)
Louisville is unplugged? No hype? No nonsense? Be still my heart…..
Oops- reading backwards…not good in a blog I imagine.
Angelica, you are too funny! so that is what you were up too!
“Mike took several pics with us and had to keep doing retakes and repeatedly putting his arm around my waist. Yeah, I was two-timing David with Mike big time”
And you do have the most wonderful southern drawl. Between that and Joymus lovely accent, ( I do love accents) it was very musical~
rae “Or perhaps we are just superior beings with more developed souls( which I like that explanation also)”
oh my goodness… I’m all up into that statement.. that may cause me to cheat on happy with you.
Hey all, with everyone else from old DA sites coming out of lurkdom, I thought I’d pop in and say hi. I’m always here, just kind of keeping out of sight. I’ve been a little down lately -- I have my twins both going off to college in about 3 weeks, and for the first time I will be an empty nester. I know this should be the best time for them, and for me and my husband, but I can’t help feeling a little melancholy. They’re also going far away. I live in NYC and they are going to be in the midwest -- one in Bloomington, IN, and the other in Madison, WI. (I know, it’s a great excuse to both visit them and catch a David concert). Anyway, sorry for getting off topic -- like all of you, I come here for the joy of discussing David, with other people who “get him.”
To all the people at the Louisville concert -- WOW -- I’m really envious. My greatest joy would be to see David perform in a more organic, stripped down, acoustic way. If this is successful, and I believe it will be, I’m hoping for a future of these types of performances -- it’s what most of his fans want, and from what I have read, it’s what David wants.
Oh Marlie -- I will be at the Atlantic City concert too!
The package with all the “ONE” letters has arrived and ready to be presented to David tomorrow night!
I was thinking after reading this part of David’s blog…
“For the Kentucky show we’re going to be trying a more toned-down set of the same songs I’ve been doing, but where the audience can focus more on the music and vibe. It’ll be my first time trying something like this out, and it’s always something I’ve wanted to try.”
that it’s a very good thing I will be giving him the letters BEFORE the concert at the VIP, cuz otherwise you could
fu-get-a-bot-it! I will be daid after David does Louisville! He gonna kill us here in the ‘ville!
My sweet David, it’s always something I’ve always wanted to hear you try!
Only a slight chance of storms tomorrow!
I just have to say that this thread has warped into the best possible thing. Good vibes.
Reminds me of a song.
I’m picking up good vibrations.
Yo, JR, “I have always wondered when he will do a toned down version of Crush” …
After all the amazing vids you post for us, it’s nice to be able to send one out your way … recorded right in my hometown, no less! (and congrats on the avi amb4dja!!)
happy -- I keep getting error messages trying to email you.
ninaf -- nice to see you here. I’ve been through the “kids off to college” time. That transition can be a rough one. I send you all my best!
well I am blushing now dawn…173. ( or maybe it was two days of crazy Florida sun.) Oops and I also met “Sherylnotcrowe”
whom I think posts at FOD, who I have admired from afar. And just briefly Karin from Snarkeys who was “surprised” by David in Atlanta. I did not see her ( sorry Joymus, I know you kept pointing her out) but understanding Starrynights who does those awesome youtube videos was there. Amazing how these screen names take on a type of status through their accomplisments and experiences! I would be nervous to meet Rascal….( although I did survive the meeting with the famous Silverfox and Liz) Oh my back to work tomorrow. Wow, you folks in Louisville in for, well don’t even know what it will be, but David experiementing sounds like mannah from heaven.
Nina- nice to see you back. Kizz and I spoke at Del Mar and we think it’s time for another NYC dinner meeting. hmm?
Look at one of his latest tweets:
Caterer at the meet n greet: “that’s the first time I heard you sing. I think I might go buy your album!” haha 3 hours ago
Another one bites the dust!
SO… do we think rascal maybe *snuck* off to kentucky? hm?
JackRyan… Funny you should say that. I tweeted David back after that tweet.
This is dedicated to the Caterer who was just *GOBSMACKED* by @DavidArchie http://tinyurl.com/37wt5f
woot!
(I never tire of the amazing Snoball…lol)
————-
Contemplating this unplugged show… I mean…I am actually becoming ill with anticipation and happiness.
Unplugged WFM Reno-Intro-Style??? (Does he actually pay attention to what I BEG FOR?) I am seriously afraid, people.
Stopping in to wave from my house in Piedmont to Beebee in Napa. (I’m sure you know that Quiteblanc lives around here (about 2 miles from me)too.
Beebee -- you are simply cracking me up! I think this show tomorrow is the loaded gun you were talking about. How will we ever survive 10 -- 15 songs done “Bubbly style”? Scating and everything else included -- Ai Yai Yai! More voice, Less instrumentation -- What was David thinking that we could handle this?
I really have to try and get some sleep! This time tomorrow night, we will be witnessing another history making chapter of The Life & Times of David Archuleta The Voice: The Beginning. I hope he has as great a time as we will. I feel so lucky & actually honored that Louisville is where he will evolve yet again, getting closer to the Living Legend he will become.
OK, just one question to those going to this soul-delving-leave-the-rest-behind gig at Louisville — ARE YOU GUYS INSURED?
just sayin…
ps: TOFan -- hey you
thanks for Crush unplugged. Yeah something like that
ninaf!!!!!!
you are blue? do we have time for a dinner before AC?
davidfanLIZ- I cleared my inbox….maybe that will be better.
dawn- I see it only takes a few sweet words for you to leave me….
Louisville will be a longer Tribeca?…… might we all get more than a glimpse of David Archuleta performing as David Archuleta?…. SF et.al… enjoy!!!
TOfan- ♥
Joymus, with all that lethal unplugged achu_scatty imorov flyin’ all over the place? There will be no survivors. They’ll all be *Bubbyfied* and never know what hit ‘em.
I am ENTIRELY too excited about this. ENTIRELY. lol
*Waves to Collegemom*
*Waves to Quiteblanc*
SF, sleep like a baby!
WOW! So hard to keep up with all these wonderful posts……
I’m preparing for tomorrow, emotionally, mentally and spiritually for whatever he may lay on us …I don’t know if that is possible but I have and appointment with a certain cellcast… and tissue box is ready…David underwater for this epic event is a million times better than no David.
To all who will be attending tomorrows historical event please take everything and share with us!
I’m so jealous of all you east coasters! Anyone here from the west coast? Southern west coast?
Now I’ll go watch those Pittsburgh vids to research that merging of David’s bebereader was talking about…in the event that you don’t hear from me … please send Marlie (certified and all) to rescue me from certain drowning…lol.
Ok…nevermind Marlie sorry….bebereader just informed me it was happy with the certification… I probably would have drowned…lol
djafan…I’m feeling the same way you are. We need David to visit the west coast more often.
I’m in Arizona and I’ll be at that cellcast wishing I was in Louisville.
Wishing everyone going a safe journey.
JR #162, My condolences to the Pinoys. Corazon Aquino was a remarkable leader, a Phenomenal Woman. I am sure she will be sorely missed by not only her country, but by the world.
(((Waves))) to Collegemon, Quiteblanc, and Beebee from Vallejo.
I pray safe travel to all who are going to Louisville--enjoy!
Can I just say—Utah is feeling prrr-ee-ttyy left out of the concert circuit, also.
Oh my, here we are, so fickle in our thoughts. One minute we are concerned that David doesn’t get enough ‘me time’ and much needed rest, and the next minute we want him traveling a non-stop circuit. Will it ever be just right?!
Have a grrreat time tomorrow night all you HRC people!!
I just got back from Greenville. I will write it up when I have had time to reflect a bit, but wanted to tell you two things tonight.
David sang Be Still My Soul for us at VIP………
I talked to Mike during VIP, over to the side, and asked him if there were any surprises tomorrow night, anything new. He said everything would be like new. They’ve never done anything like it before. And we talked a little about what stripped down, acoustic, etc. meant. Then I asked him if there would be any new, new songs. And he said yeah, in the plural--he said songs, not song, but songs!! I was pretty spaced out, but I heard what I heard!! So you go Louisville for new songs!
More later. Not more news. Just reflections and impressions and fun stuff.
djafan, I am another West coaster. Just across the bay from Collegemom and Quiteblanc!
Is it wrong to want David to have a Tribeca-like show on the West Coast when he has had a few now on the East Coast?
It would be fun to have David at the Fillmore in SF (his buddy DCook is going to be there soon). Or anywhere in the Bay Area just so the SF dj’s (Star 101.3, Radio Alice 97.3, etc.) might actually take the time to listen to him. The big arenas in San Jose and Sacramento aren’t close or small enough to these dj’s -- they need their eyes opened. (grrrrrr……)
Hellooooooo west coasters!
nothing wrong for wanting more west coast small acousticy type shows…I think I’ll start tweeting him about this…tawna…I consider Utah west coasty.
Hi west coast TDCers, beebee, collegemom, vermeer, djafan…
Checking in really late tonight. Wish I were in Louisville tonight.
Hi quiteblanc! I hear you, all of ya lamenting West coasters, me included! We want some of them acousticy type shows here too. Collegemom, the Fillmore would be awesome, and then maybe, SF DJs will get a clue! dfafan, please tweet him!
I mean djafan, sorry! With that, I’m sayin’ G’nite!
Just got home from the airport and checking in here. I am so a little too not over the fact that tomorrow he is going to do a mellow, acoustic, toned-down concert! So happy for all those who are going! I actually thought while at the airport of just slapping that credit card down for the next thing going to Louisville. I told you I am a fool. But alas, I didn’t marry one and I would eventually have to come home and explain myself. I thought of saying how the flight was delayed and rerouted to Louisville and then weather grounded us and thus and so on. But I cannot tell a lie with any plausibility; my face betrays me every time. I can omit like nobody’s business but that would not suffice. Oh well. I took my ODD home and will enjoy the under the sea cellcast with the thousands of other fans in the same boat.
Ahh, but it will Ehhhhhhh-pic!! Why does he do this? Is he not aware of the risk to his devoted fans? Does he not care that some of us have not been medically cleared by our doctors to withstand this sort of thang? Killer. Premeditated too, by the sound of it. To those of you who will be there in person, it has been SO nice knowing y’all! Just kidding! You will be fine. Did you pack your O2 tank and portable defrillator? Weeeellll…it should be a cinch. Important safety tip I learned from all my flights the past few days…place the O2 mask on yourself first, before attempting to help someone else.
Now you listen to me, David James Archuleta. I can’t handle much more of this metamorphosis. I thought I could, but I’m not strong enough. Be that as it may, I’ve said before that I would take a bullet for you without hesitation, (it’s true, the world needs you more than it needs me,) so I guess I can face this. Maybe I’ll come back as a ghost and haunt you for being so merciless. Hmmmmmmmmm….that has interesting possibilities.
Just kidding sweetness. I would rest in peace, cause…what a lovely way to go!!
You do what you gotta do.
For those still here, GREENVILLE TOUR PAGE is up!

Angelica 203 hysterically funny! Now I really need to go to sleep because I have to work tomorrow. (today)
GOBOYWONDER @ #193 -- thank you very much. Pres Aquino is now enroute to the memorial park where she will be buried beside Ninoy. The size of the crowd on the street right now following or waiting for her funeral cortege is enormous. It is like EDSA all over again.
Leaving the Cathedral at 11am, the procession should have reached the memorial park at 1pm. It is now 4pm and they are only half-way through the journey because of the throng of people lined up in the streets, rain or shine. The crowd fronting the memorial park had been there since dawn to pay their respects.
Actually last Monday, my kids and I went to her wake at 1am thinking that there would be less mourners at that time. Well that was partially true cos it only took us 2 hours to line up to view her remains.
I suppose Shakespeare says it best: “Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.”
This is great! ArchuletaAvenue took vids at Greenville. We are assured of great quality and speedy upload
TMH HQ by ArchuletaAvenue
Daffy4David #195 -- new songS to sing? unplugged? stripped-down? acoustic? Waaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh. Me thinks Maybe I’m Amazed is one of them!!!!!
Sorry for the multiple exclamation points peeps. Can you blame me?!
OK, SF & other Louisville goers, better be ready with your ArchuKit:
1. tissue
2. brown bag
3. water
4. smelling salts
5. paddles
what else?
5.
JenA -- HI!!!
Mike -- love your article! This thread is supreme love wrapped in a butterfly kiss and sprinkled with archugoodness!
Beebee -- you are freakin’ hilarious!
Angelica -- you make me LOL all the time!
Jackryan -- thanks for getting the vids for us!
How will we EVER survive tonight’s show? I’m having my doubts.
I hit the archulottery yesterday! I have been gifted a VIP for Grand Rapids! I am so gobsmacked I dunno know what to do or say. I am so freaked out. Can he handle seeing my ugly crying? You know when you are so into crying that your face is all contorted and your nostrils are flaring (in a bad way…LOL) gah. I am….I don’t even know.
I can tell you this -- David fans are the most awesome giving people on the planet!
Pray for me.
Hey BEEBEE -- I was thinkin’ (Lord help us all..) is it legal for the FG to be at a VIP with the BBD? LOL and tee-hee hee! Um, yeah, anyway. That’s alot of David and from what you guys have said the VIP experience is other-worldly. What if I pass out? or vomit? David should not have to witness such atrocities! I need to pray, meditate, center, focus. SERENITY NOW!
I’m thinking the padded room after tonight will be the only appropriate form of living quarters for us all. Wonder if there’ll be a computer in there for Beebs to create MGR’s for us. Of course, it really won’t matter cuz we’re all gonna be daid.
We’ll never be the same. Oh Dear. Really.
Louisville-goers -- HAVE.A.BLAST.
FG -- that’s why you’ve got to have your ArchuKit!
Louisville peeps, may the force be with you
FunnyGirl, See you at the Grand Rapids VIP!
What better way to start the day but with Greenville’s MY HANDS
Good morning TDC esp the Louisville-goers -- don’t forget to breathe, yah hear?
ps: Pres Aquino’s cortege just entered the memorial park. That’s 8 hours after leaving the Cathedral. Amazing show of love & support.
How about a BW SOT brought to us by Dustinn09?
Good morning!
Weather forecast: Cloudy this morning, sun later this afternoon. High 86.
If I had one wish right now, it would be for the WHOLE TDC family to be here in Louisville at the HRC tonight! I will be so happy to see KT, Deb & Lorna and meet for the first time prd9601 & Janey. I WISH my sis Theresa was here. I NEED HER! She is my partner-in-crime but she also is a calming influence.
Have a great day everyone! Talk at you tomorrow, or maybe tonight if it’s not too late and I’m alive & COHERENT! In case I’m not, I just want to say I love you all and it’s been great being a part of this journey!
Peace!
JR, belated condolences on losing Pres Aquino — she was an inspiration in so many ways.
FG, so happy for you! Maybe sitting right up front will keep you in line!
SF, “If I had one wish right now, it would be for the WHOLE TDC family to be here in Louisville at the HRC tonight!” Awww, that is so sweet, SF, but I for one don’t think I could handle it. I’m gettin’ shaky just thinking about listening to the crappy cellcast tonight LOL.
Soak in every nanosecond!! {{hugs}}
Grand Rapids…also acousticy!
http://www.mlive.com/entertainment/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2009/08/tickets_on_sale_this_morning_f.html
West coasters, I’ve sent David my first tweet!
Djafan, That’s great! I haven’t gotten the twitter thing down yet, but I left a message on David’s YT channel on Tuesday about having a acoustic show on the West Cosat. Although it shows he signed in yesterday morning, my comment hasn’t been posted. I’m not sure if he responds to comments left on that site, but I hope he at least read it and will consider our request.
SF, so sweet of you to think of the rest of us who can’t be there with you <333
I am actually going to be there! In spirit hehe
I may be a tad green with envy but I am definitely also VERY excited for you and everyone else who will witness an amazing show tonight and it’s only for tonight!!! GAH!!!
All these posts about Rockford Aug. 6th are confusing me.
Can folks email me at ronaldsf@gmail.com ? Maybe we can do a meet-up a half hour before the concert? What time does the VIP end?
Just signed in for the cell cast @ FOD. BTW, who is this guy here? Anyone know? He looks familiar. I know this is crazy, but he kinda looks a little like that kid from American Idol, the runner up from season 7. Ya think it could…..?? Naaahhhhhh.
http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk88/netterbutter-928/michelle14-1.jpg
Ronaldsf: Meeting up half an hour before? I am afraid you underestimated the time it takes to properly gush and effuse before coming face to face with the Voice. You need at least several hours for that!
goboy… hope to see you soon on twitter…
Angelica….nah it couldn’t be….good idea I’m going to sign in for cellcast now.
You are so right, YJfanofdavid #223, gushing requires at least an hour … effusing, well, there you’re talking an extra 45 min., 90 if you start waxing poetic … better keep your day free, rsf!
FG… I am SO EXCITED for YOU! (But… also afraid. Verrrry afraid.)
Josie and JackRyan… rubber room. A must-have.
I shall be speechless the rest of the day.
I am OUT OF MAH MIND.
beebee….speechless? nahhhhhhh
We got good seats over at the cellcast….lol
My friends will be driving in from Detroit so we don’t know when we get there… probably not before VIP starts… so yeah whenever VIP ends I guess whatever time that is
ronaldsf….are you confused?
Angelica…this pic is one for another video of yours to happen really soon!?

Simply the best! Thank you…love it! You know that I am one of your biggest video fans!
People of TDC…prepare for a night of recaps and simple exclamations…unless they are too zonked out to find their pcs…He is really going to enjoy this performance, that is my guess.
SB
One more thing Angelica, you are most artistic (see pic above)…I notice that you like shapely lines…excellent.

I’ll second that…
djafan…If I had to guess who submitted that picture, it would be Angelica…sooo nice…can I say that?

Just dropping by to wish SF and all who are lucky enough to be attending tonight’s lovefest a rapturous time! Do hope the cellcast will be decently audible…David underwater is still David GLORIOUS… but would love to be able to hear The Voice just a little bit more clearly tonight!
Love your post Mikesd and like most of us, I had never read fansites before notingdavid, let alone posted comments. I’ve never followed an artist’s career, although I was crazy for Manilow back in the 70′s and recall being enthralled with Josh Groban’s first CD a few years ago (even entertained the idea of learning Italian cause I wanted to know what the heck he was singing about). Still, back then it was just about the music …
Then along comes this beeeaaauuutiful kid with that killer smile doing his soulful, passionate version of Shop Around and I was a goner -- hook, line and sinker. Soon after I thankfully found notingdavid and now TDC to always be on hand to satiate my ODD cravings and to learn along the way a heckuva lot more about this amazing young man and all that’s involved with building a career in the music biz. It’s a blast to read the brilliant articles and commentaries from this amazing group of fans, and I hope it continues for years to come.
And about those friendships…met Archiesfan4life at the Allentown solo show last March and we have become great buddies. We met up again for the Philly concert last month and will definitely be making plans to attend more shows in the future. Love you girlfriend!
Hey Nina! I remember commiserating with you a few months back about our youngest heading off to college and the angst we were feeling. Guess what! I think our kids are both going to IU??!! Wouldn’t that be a riot if they met up one day… oh, the stories they would share about their crazy, embarrassingly addicted moms!!
Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait long for the Louisville pics and videos -- as so many have already said, it promises to be an EPIC night!!
OK, our heads are all floating for Louisville, but we have GREENVILLE for now.
See his hawtness in the completed GREENVILLE TOUR PAGE:

I also updated FRESNO & TAMPA Tour Pages with gorgeous HD vids
Check ‘em out!
Nina and Zoe, I am an IU Grad, Class of 1987. Hope your kids have a wonderful college experience and enjoy Bloomington as much as I did. Go Hoosiers!
Oh nooooooooooo say it isn’t so:(
I just read this at FOD:
Louisville Cellcast Cancelled!
There will be NO cellcast due to a no phone policy at the show tonight!
AF4L -- I just read the news on FOD. I can’t tell you just how disappointed I feel about this situation. I cannot believe it!
IDK what to say:(
Geez, I thought I couldn’t be more bummed out than I was yesterday. Not fair.8((
How could only 300 people be so lucky? Maybe after tonight (working out the kinks) he may change his stance and allow us to hear it also. Doesn’t he know that underwater David is miles better than no David at all? Unless he’s really worried about his voice? Dang it, this really hurts.
Wow, if they don’t allow phones they probably won’t allow cameras either! BUMMER!
I’m heartsick….
What? no cellcast? I’m so distraught right now. I’m going to take a nap…and dream about what it will be like.
Now we will just have to wait for recaps.
Well I hope everyone respects David’s wishes …we don’t know the reasons…so in the meantime for those attending enjoy and show David our love. Will be waiting for recaps along with hundreds of others.
Time for some Bubbly….
No cellcast? No vids? What’s next? No Santa?
tweet from frogcooke
David did apologize 4 the no phone & camera policy. He said this was frm the venue & other people. We told him not to feel bad.
djafan HI! I haven’t been around for awhile. Just thought I would say I was so disappointed at first. I just wanted to sit down and cry….OK that sound pretty pathetic, but I was sad. Then I thought about David’s character and generosity and his love of his fans and I thought there just has to be a good reason for the restrictions tonight. So I decided to mellow out and trust David and look forward to all of the great reports on the show tonight! Hope everyone at the show respects David’s wishes. So ….that is all….
Djafan#242 and #244 I respect David’s wishes and we don’t know the reasons but I too am heartsick.
Sweetonda #243 think I’ll take a nap too!
hey little mac…
I hear you….I’m hoping for the same. I hope and pray that if all goes well he’ll consider doing a couple of these in the west coast.
I’m feeling better now…the Bubbly helped…lol
Now what do I do with myself tonite.?? (Palm to forehead, hangdog expression…)
djafan, yeah..I listen to Bubbly tons of times everyday! Hope David does lots of acoustic shows all over so all of his fans have an opportunity to hear him like tonight. Gonna go watch some vids….will help me feel better. See ya…..
djafan, Liked your suggestion of Bubbly…it was good to see before my nap
pabuckie, sweet dreams
Little Mac -- I felt like crying also, so disappointed I felt. I’m somewhat relieved to hear that it was not the wish of David. I’ll console myself with SYTYCD/Finale.
Off-topic -- Isn’t it ironic that David’s name is being publicly mentioned as one of PAbdul’s most memorable quotes from AI. In spite of the fact she was right on the money when it came to David, we know she favored DCook to win.
MAJOR BUMMER, RATS AND PHOOEY for the blackout of tonight’s show.
Perhaps David is feeling that this is kind of experimental and doesn’t want the extra pressure of having it recorded.
I can hear the collective sigh from my fellow TDCers
{{{{{{GROUP HUGS TO ALL}}}}}}
Hey Jen A -- Nice to know you had a great time at IU! It’s becoming quite popular with the northeasterners. My daughter is super excited!
Thank You Zoe! LOL!
Thanks for the hug Zoe. Back at ya ((((((HUGS)))))
My little Zoe (puppy) is giving me kisses on the nose as we speak…kind of hard to type during this attack. She has me LOL.
Feeling better now and looking forward to all the great recaps we will be hearing about.
joymus, I also feel tons better knowing that this was NOT David’s decision.
I read on FOD that Jenny tweeted she heard David doing a soundcheck of “Let It Be”. I hope David can work his magic again because I have never cared much for that song. Didn’t get the big deal about Brooke singing it on AI last year.
No cellcast, no photos, no videos — VENUE POLICY — not David’s wishes. In fact, David apologized about it.
Just curious, since I have no idea how these venues operate…am I naive to think that if David wanted to allow cellphones, TPTB would permit their use?
I understand about them not being allowed for the VIPs, but did any other venues prohibit them during David’s solo tour last winter?
Sweetonda -- haha! Zoe is my beloved kitty’s name. Which answers the question as to how I chose such an original screenname.
No cellcast, phones, cameras or videos!
More power to David!
He’s finally owning his talent!
Although it’s too bad that we won’t get to see this epic show on youtube, I respect David’s decision. He is so generous to his fans; he communicates with us on twitter and blogs and vlogs more than he has to. We might not like his decision but we have to respect it.
Zoe, There were restrictions, per venues’ requests, at some of the solo shows but fans were able to get videos from most if not all.
The word ‘canceled’ felt like a punch in the gut! OUCH!!! The green color of envy has turned a shade darker! Just kidding! I’m still very happy and excited for SF and gang. But I am going to go cry a little bit now…
Goboywonder, thanks for that info.
I mean no disrespect to the venue, but if it’s okay with our guy, I for one will hope that some ne’er do well will be able to sneak in some videos and send a few crumbs out to the hungry fans in cyberspace.
Bebereader, The was reported that this was not David’s decision, but if it is, how is it his owing his talent? This is not a challenge question, I ask this because I simply don’t understand. Upon reading comments on other sites, some said that taping/videoing shows take away profits from artists because fans views these vids on YT rather than go to shows. Some say it’s free promotion.
No cellcast?????? I just woke up to the sad news. I’m so disappointed. It would be tolerable though, if only we got great videos from tonight. I would be OK with that. Maybe ninjas will be present at the venue tonight. This has happened before where a venue says no video and they appear anyway. If not….I am GUTTED!!!
If David says it wasn’t his fault, I’m sure it wasn’t. He has no problem at VIPs openly saying he doesn’t want it taped.
I will be up late. Waiting.
“Hope” is the thing with feathers-- That perches in the soul-- And sings the tune without the words-- And never stops--at all-- Emily Dickenson
This is confusing. Is the no phone/video policy coming from David himself or the venue? Don’t many of the venues have the no video policy but we still got videos almost always? If the no video decision came from David, I guess we need to respect that. If it’s the venue, then it would be up to the venue to do its best to reinforce the policy, just like in every other venue. Can anyone shed light on this? I hope the gravity of the situation has been exaggerated.
goboywonder #265 My mistake. I just read and realized that it wasn’t David’s decision. I guess he had no choice but to go along with the venue’s policy.
Although I’m disappointed that tonight’s show won’t be on youtube, part of me feels good for David that the only people witnessing tonight’s show are the ones who paid. It kind of makes it more precious, which it is!
I’m sorry for not fully explaining before.
Dang it! I could miss the cellcast, but no videos? Ouch!
Zoe and Angelica,
I feel your optimism. RTOFL at the mention of a “ne’er do well” too fuuny. Its keeping the tears at bay….for now, till we get a recap of the set list.
Zoe, *waves* “I for one will hope that some ne’er do well will be able to sneak in some videos and send a few crumbs out to the hungry fans in cyberspace” … since we now know it wasn’t David’s request, but the venue’s I was thinking the same thing! LOL
Sweetonda *more waving*
Joymus, a set list recap? You’re killing me here!
Hi TOfan, *waves back*
How’s beautiful Canada today?
Would love to see David go your way to do one of his Christmas concerts. He has such loyal fans there.
I’m hoping that if he doesn’t get to Arizona, he will do one in Utah and I’ll be there. That concert, IMO, is going to be scrumptious and not to be missed.
Hello all ~
Speaking of recording David….I have a special request…
A few days ago, quiteblanc was nice enough to send a link to some mp3′s of David’s recordings. At the time I was working on a David mix of his best Dance / Pop songs (by the way, if any of you like dance music, I’d strongly recommend checking out the ALTNOY Tonal Remix available for sale on Masterbeat…not only is it an AWESOME dance remix -- especially the bridge -- but when you buy it from Masterbeat you get a swanky pic of David for your iPod along with it when it plays!
It’s here, the last ALTNOY remix listed:
https://www.masterbeat.com/#artist/davidarchu
Anyway, right now I’m making a mix CD for a very different friend who also loves David, but only knows his AI performances. His taste leans more toward David’s ballads and performances where his voice is showcased rather than pure pop. Does anyone have mp3′s of the AI recordings of these?
*The Long and Winding Road
*Think of Me
*When You Believe
Also, does anyone have any other suggestions for newer (live or recorded) performances that this friend would love? I’m so far planning to include:
*To Be With You
*Bubbly Live
*SOT
*Crush
*ALTNOY
*Save the Day
*Barriers
Was thinking maybe How Great Thou Art would be good too? Would love any ideas (and mp3′s, hehe) that you all can share…
Howdy TOfan!
Speaking of what a delight it is to meet up with other TDCers, I so enjoyed our impromptu getogether at the Mann with Archiesfan4life, Refnaf and Happy. Hope you guys enjoyed our fair city. Philly was showing David some major Brotherly Love that night! Wish I could join many of you at Hershey Park later this month, but I’ll be en route to Indiana to drop off the college coed.
So, any word on the concert??
LittleM, good idea!
I have mp3s of about anything you could want. When you decide for sure, email me with what you want and I will send them to you.
velcrogirl10@aol.com
If you want AI studio versions it will just take me until tomorrow because they are in ITunes format, and I would need to burn them to CD then import them again to get MP3.
What about Be Still My Soul?
My favorite.
Or Angels from PC Richards?
And I LOVE the ALTNOY Tonal Remix!!! I listen to it all the time, I even put it on a mix CD for the car.
Hi Sweetonda!
fa3ryg1rl -- thank you SO much for the offer!!! Yes I’ll decide for sure, then email you. Thanks for the suggestions too! Be Still My Soul is beautiful..and great idea about Angels from PC Richards…I wanted an Angels on there but don’t think any of the recorded versions do the Live version justice. Gah, decisions decisions!
I’ve been listening to the ALTNOY Tonal Remix so much ever since I stumbled across it…it helps me get ready for work in the morning!
Very interesting comments posted on FOD by Richard — seems like the decision was probably David’s after all?
“*Let me preface this by saying I am not speaking for David or anyone around him. I speak for myself.*
About tonight… I am pretty sure that having no video, audio, pictures etc. was a decision that David made himself. And I’ll tell you (you can be upset with me about this if you want to be) I’m proud of him for making that decision. I doubt it was an easy thing to request (especially if he knew the disappointment it might create), but I think it was the right decision. I don’t think even David understands at all levels why he would make a decision like that, and maybe he does. I think it has to do, in part, with integrity and treating those in attendance to a special experience. It is the same reason that he doesn’t want any video or audio taken of the VIP sessions. I hope that everyone is willing to respect that and accept it.
For the record, I for one, was very excited to hear what he was going to do tonight. Everyone that I was with today was in the same boat. And you would think that we would be given special privileges because of our relationships with him. That was not the case. No one, except those in attendance will hear it. And there is nothing wrong with that. The decision was made and I’m so much at peace with it.
David would be the first one to respect that decision if the tables were turned and we were in his position, and made such a request. I hope we can all relax, have a great night, and be grateful for the opportunities that we are given. When someone feels in their heart that something does or does not feel right, we have to allow those feelings, and we have to allow them to act on those feelings so that they can go to bed with a peaceful mind. I don’t think this means David loves anyone less, in fact, again, it really impresses me about him.
I can almost promise you that there will be other opportunities very similar to this. Be patient and ready and I hope that those opportunities come your way.”
LittleM #273
Maybe your friend would also enjoy “Prayer of the Children.”
GranFran -- I bet he would! Thank you!
Hmm…you guys are giving me an idea…maybe I should forego all the heavily produced pop tracks altogether and only include acousticy, live, or a cappella performances…an emotional, heartfelt mix….hmmm
LittleM -- your latest idea sounds veeeerrry intriguing. I say GO FOR IT!!
Apparently he sang I’ll be and One (!!!)
Thanks, Zoe -- I think I shall!
Acoustic set is done … gah…when will we hear reports back????
blog chat up….supposedly will be with Mike and Dave.
http://www.blogtv.com/People/FOD
Just home from the Louisville show! Wow it was AWESOME. Sort of like a concert in your living room! Encore inc I’ll Be, Bubbly, and Angels. Didn’t get to meet Silverfox. Boo. More later want to go to chat. Don’t think Mike will be on, his wife and baby were there, but Dave F. will be on.
he did NOT sing “One” (that has been confirmed)
Several things:
1. If the no-recording policy was David’s decision, then that should have been the message. Plain and simple. He had no problem requesting that during VIP sessions so I see no reason why he cannot do so for Louisville. And it is totally understandable.
2. Richard’s message contradicts what was allegedly announced by David at Louisville. This will be a sore source of confusion. Since it is no secret that most venues have a no-recording policy but ninja/stealth archies still manage to find ways to do so, what makes it different in Louisville? Unless it was indeed David who decided to ban the recording of the event which goes along with the policy of the venue, then again, that should have been the message.
3. David and his team should not underestimate the value of managing expectations.
4. Having said #3, I think that expectations could have been managed if the request for no recording (if it was David’s) or its strict implementation (if it was the venue’s) had been announced earlier — say in his blog or part of the gig’s promo or in the venue’s website. In this way, the exclusivity could even have served as a useful come-on (not that a come-on is still needed with David performing).
Sure some will still be disappointed but at least doing it this way will indicate that it underwent due consideration -- you know what I mean?
The reality is, David & his management have all the right to request all the performance videos uploaded online to be taken down. Because technically, they are the owners of those vids. But they don’t so far and for that I am most thankful. So to request or implement a no-recording policy is legitimate. However, I still say that expectations should have been better managed.
I don’t think Richard’s message was necessary.
I really liked Dave’s four words to describe David:
enigmatic
jukebox
talented
shy
Have really enjoyed the thread and the kind of “eight degrees of separation” weaved throughout.
Be it a singular decision or the final say in a consensus, I am thrilled that he made this particular one. It shows a huge step forward, a very positive step.
oh Boo! I’ll admit that I’m pretty darn disappointed by this. I agree with JR…it would have been good to know up front what the policy was for tonight.
If this was David’s decision, I’ll respect this, fill the empty pit in my stomach with something very caloric and likely bad for me, and be happy for everyone that was able to attend the concert. If this was a venue decision, then I’m selfishly hoping that some stealth video footage gets out and I manage to see it before it gets pulled from the tube. Just being honest.
Sorry I posted before I saw your post emmiegirl #290. It’s interesting that your comment was that not allowing video would be a huge, positive step forward for David. I’m curious…could you elaborate on that? Thanks
yeah emmiegirl..I was wondering what you meant by your comment as well…
What a shame about the “no video” policy. I am disappointed -- was looking forward to the “acoustic” vids of David. I’m still hoping someone was able to sneak a camera in.
Hey Zoe -- that’s so funny about both our kids going to IU -- it has become very popular here in the Northeast. I’m sure they both can have quite a laugh about their crazy ODD moms.
Jen A -- glad to see an IU grad on the TDC site -- it was love-at-first-sight for my son and the school.
Set list was…TMH,ALTNOY,MH,SOT,TBWY,YC,SBM,DLG,CRUSH,APOLOGIZE,WFY,WFM,BUBBLY,I’LL BE, AND ANGELS. David’s voice, acoustic guitar, acoustic bass, keys, drums. Fantastic! No one was more than 20 feet from David. Like a concert in your living room!
I am pretty sure that it was David’s decision about cameras and phones. Ray was watching very closely but I didn’t see any HRC staff paying any attention to that. Before the show started Ray took a lady and her daughter out of the venue pointing at the signs they had up about no cameras etc and looked to give them a stern talk but let them back in. He then went to the stage and made an announcement about the policy. He was very serious about it.
But it was AWESOME, as it is the only acoustic show on the tour. Very happy to have been a part of this special night!
lotus_b, sorry, I did’t make myself very clear.
I didn’t mean that not allowing the video was a big step.
Just that the “decision” to not allow cameras, phones or videos was a big step. David has a special relationship with his fans and a genuine desire to please them. This couldn’t have been easy for him. Regardless of the why, he made a tough decision that he knew would make for a number of unhappy fans, yet he had the courage to do it anyway. To me, that represents a positive step forward for him.
‘The reality is, David & his management has all the right to request all the performance videos uploaded online to be taken down. Because technically they are the owners of those vids. But they don’t and for that I am most thankful. So to request or implement a no-recording policy is legitimate. However, I still say that expectations should have been better managed.’
I gonna take the risk to post even with my bad english. But if this is the case what will be the news to feed the fans sites?, i mean we exist now because we have subjets and news from his tour, many fans joint the sites to see the videos and make an observation about, without them what we have? David don’t do now the spontaneous meetings with his fans like before(Thank to the VIP system), he don’t do interviews, not TV or radio time, his personal life is too calm to make the news, not too much either about his future recording work, not international promotion, tbh any kind of promotion, not even for his charity work, not sponsors. again what they think a fan site gonna do without information and videos, the web videos are the only way many internationals fans have promote him in theirs countries, i’m sure this don’t gonna affect his sales.
Phillip = Thanks for the recap. It was David’s decision and I respect that but I also agree that it should have been announced before plans were made for a cellcast.Even FOD was taken unaware by the announcement. Unliike the VIPs we already know that going in. For this show the expectation was hyped because of the newness of the type of performance. The decision unfortunately came a bit too late to prevent deep disappointment. Hopefully there will be other opportunities in the future.
David was very nervous about this show. He said it was the first time he had tried it and hoped it went well. He said he loved the fact that he could see everyone’s faces and hear all the singing. I believe this venue was chosen for the acoustic show so mgt. could restrict recordings, as you can’t really do it in a larger room. I do think it should have been announced earlier tho.
I forget to say i still very disappointed by this , i think too is David decision ad not the venue and i hope he has a valid reason for make it. and yeah I’m agree with emmiegirl if was David , i think too it was a big step , a new one in the relationship with his fans, if we liked ….ummm i don’t know now, i don’t have the privilege to know him in person or attended a concert, but a think the problem is i still missing the old times, even if they were just a year ago.:(
anyway he’s the boss now.
Hi everyone!
I’m home. I’m very tired. The VIP was great! David did do his usual acoustic session (on a baby grand, no less), and the concert itself was awesome as prd said.
The no photos/videos was David’s decision. Ray made several announcements about it. David wanted this show to be special for the 300 people there. Ray was very specific with the words he used..”This is coming directly from David”. and just to make it clear, Ray said anyone caught with a camera or phone out in the open, they would be escorted out of the venue. He was very adamant about it. I know everyone was waiting for the cellcast or videos. But I have to say that it was great knowing everyone actually concentrated on the show instead of trying to videotape him. There were no distractions.
That’s all for now. I have to get to sleep. I just wanted to clear up any confusion as to who’s decision it was. It WAS David’s. He is THE BOSS! Was there ever any doubt? Yes, he did apologize if anyone was upset or disappointed but he had his own reasons for that decision and he stuck by it. I admire him for it, even though I won’t ever be able to relive this concert.
Tibi -- I don’t think we should be shaking in our boots that they will withdraw the YT Vids anytime soon. Regardless of the number of vids already out there of David performing, many fans would much prefer to see a live show whenever possible. It also helps the artist’s exposure to fans who live outside of the USA.
Thanks for your response emmie.
lotus_b, you’re very welcome.
tibitibis -- I didn’t mean to imply that from now on David and/or his management will no longer allow videos to be posted online. I only meant that they have that right but, thankfully for our benefit (esp the international fans), they don’t exercise them. It shows not only their generosity to fans but a more business-grounded regard for those videos which as you have rightfully pointed out are good tools for promoting David.
Thanks prd and SF for the recaps. We’ll be ready for more details after you’ve have a chance to rest.
Hm. I think if David wanted to do an “experiment” with this acoustic set and was nervous about it getting out, good for him for making that decision. His management probably could have done a better job communicating that, but what else is new?
Yeah Emmie -- First Class observation on your part and a ton of courage on David’s. I guess he is beginning to put his perspective about the “rightness” of things on display for the world. I personally believe the insistence of no cameras for this show was because of the VIP feel he wished to recreate and also in light of the recent fan-recording incident at the Ft.Lauderdale VIP.
jackryan4da , oh don’t worry i know you don’t inply ‘the not videos anymore forever’
SF -- Glad to hear that you are still in one piece after such an epic event. Dream sweet dreams mi amiga.
How could I forget YEDL!! He needed help with the whistle!
prd and SF, thanks for your recaps of tonight’s performance. After getting a good nights sleep, if you can after what you witnessed, I will be waiting with bells on to hear more.
Sweet Dreams!
JR, I guess you get a break from waiting for vids tonight, enjoy.
I actually will be getting to bed at a decent hour and will be looking forward to what tomorrow has has in store for us.
Good night all…
sweetonda -- yeah I guess so (weak smile) but i’d rather lose sleep just to get a glimpse of his KY numbers…
Now am shuddering at the thought that when the acoustic gigs get an overwhelming response, and am sure they will, the chances of international fans enjoying such privilege is almost nil…
Before I go back to work, just a reminder to those NeverWDVV: re-visit our vid vault to see the new HD files I added to FRESNO and ALL FL Tour Pages.
And for those with recaps -- pls re-post in the related Tour Pages, all of which you can find here:

Last: GREENVILLE TOUR PAGE is now complete

Ta-ta!
Well after all is said and done I find a positive--I don’t have to sulk not knowing how he sang “Desperate” 8).
JR #288, Managing expectations FTW!
Prd9601 #295 & SF #301, thanks for sharing your insights about tonight’s show with us.
aw, JR..I totally know how you feel. As an international fan, I completely rely on the generosity of of those who share their videos and personal stories online in order to participate in the David experience. I’ve tried reshuffling my life a hundred different ways to see David on this tour, and I am resigned to the fact that I simply just can’t do it. I just hope that the videos keep coming.
I’ll smile behind my disappointment too and keep my fingers crossed that we’ll get to see something, anything, just a few moments please! from the upcoming acoustic concerts. In the meantime thanks to everyone for the updates and recaps. GBW, I’m slightly less sulky knowing he didn’t sing a stripped down version of ‘Desperate’ too! Also, if he had sang ‘Maybe I’m Amazed’ you would all still be hearing a strange thumping from across the Pacific, which would have been me banging my head against the wall!
And JR, a big thanks to you for all your great work putting together the concert pages here at TDC. I love your dedication, speed and thoroughness in finding (and updating) all the best material. Thank you, thank you!
There’s a calm surrender

When the heat of the rolling world
Can be turned away
An enchanted moment,
And it sees me through
It’s enough for this restless warrior
Just to be with you
And can you feel the love tonight
It is where we are
It’s enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we’ve got this far
And can you feel the love tonight
How it’s laid to rest?
It’s enough to make kings and vagabonds
believe the very best.
There’s a time for everyone
If they only learn
That the twisting kaleidoscope
Moves us all in turn
There’s a rhyme and reason
To the wild outdoors
When the heart of this starcrossed voyager
Beats in time with yours
And can you feel the love tonight
It is where we are
It’s enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we’ve got this far
And can you feel the love tonight
How it’s laid to rest?
It’s enough to make kings and vagabonds
believe the very best.
It’s enough to make kings and vagabonds
believe the very best.
Elton John Can You Feel The Love Tonight lyrics
I think he felt the love tonight from his fans. I read a recap that said he was so nervous, his lip was quivering at one point. Thank you, to all who brought the love tonight, on behalf of us all.
