We don’t tend to report on Idol doings in general, but knowing how much David loves Ellen (he has such good taste), we thought this was relevant.

Not to be a downer, but I sure wish Ellen loved David back. At least enough to invite him back on her show. Wouldn’t it be great if she made him “dance” with her? Maybe it was just me, but I didn’t “see” the love by Ellen for David when he was on her show. He was so excited, but she seemed lukewarm to me.

She really should get to know David…I think she would change her mind about which David is her “favorite”

Me too, sorry for the downer but I remember talking about this sometime ago. I feel the same way. It bothered me to see her reserved demeanor towards our most lovable guy who was so happy to see her.

I believe she will LOVE David once she sheds whatever preconceived ideas she has about what he is like and who he is. It really is just a matter of time.

Well I think Ellen will be great. She will bring tons of humour and I may just be watching again next year. I think the interactions between her and Simon will be hilarous.

She probably got caught up in the fanfare/wars on the insane David v David competition, which was always just silly.

However, I will say that I watched when Demi was on and annoucing her summer tour. Not sure why I happened to see that- but Ellen was pretty cute, making a big deal that David was going to be with her on tour. The audience screamed, and Demi looked none to happy. If Ellen as not already fallen under
David’s spell, she will as she is only human.

I’m not sure how much we can conclude from what we know -- sure, Ellen had that ep with Simon on the show and waxed poetic about David Cook, and she may not have been giddy-giddy when David A. was on, but David DID finally get to interact with Ellen and totally was in fanboy mode and I can’t imagine David in that situation NOT charming any person who has a soul. Nice to hear Ellen mentioning David when talking to Demi Lovato.

ronaldsf, you are right about anyone with a soul could not possibly not be touched by David so I can definitely imagine that post taping, off camera David did charm her with his guilelessness and his love for her and hence she mentioned his name when Demi failed to do so when promoting her tour. I saw that on YouTube too and was appreciative of it.

I like Ellen, she’s witty and funny. I was also so disappointed in her when David was on her show, she just didn’t seem excited about him. She redeemed herself a little when she brought him up to Demi’s chagrin about the tour.

So, the jury is still out for me…time will tell.

I love Ellen, but dunno if even she can lure me back to A.I.

When I think of all the backroom manipulation and conniving that goes on at that show at the expense of the singers, all in the name of ratings, it still makes my blood boil.

And I know Paula Abdul says she quit, but I bet they squeezed her out for a younger model.

I also wasn’t too impressed with Ellen’s demeanor with David on her show, she was quite reserved compared to many other guests. As for her as a judge on AI I find it surprising. I would think they would have someone with more musical background rather than someone who just enjoys it.

Not a fan of American Idol, not a fan of Ellen. If the show was about singing, our David would have won. I can’t handle such balatant manipulation and shenanagins and will only watch if David is on.

I’m not crazy about the idea of Ellen as fourth judge, because she does seem to have her biases, but my opinion matters not since I happily stopped watching Idol after season seven.

Ellen lost me as a loooonnnnngtime fan (loved her from her earliest standup days) because of those biases. I understand that she preferred Cook’s music and I don’t fault her for that, but her comments about David went too far. I just don’t see her the same way anymore.

This latest decision by AI to have Ellen as their 4th judge is the icing on the cake in my decision to continue to NOT watch the show! She has NO musical background, and has shown to be judgemental/biased in her observations. I honestly believe TPTB at AI are grasping-at-straws to get back the audience/fans they’ve “ran-away” after season 7. Ellens part is more for hype/ratings than for honesty in who is the American Idol. ( I’ve learnded to like Mr. Cook but, come-on is he what we consider an American Idol?
Also,I don’t like how they treat the contestants.

Agree with TOfan…total manipulation. For me, why bother.
There is only one person who could get me to tune in to that show again.
