Thanks to tamster1328 for this video!
I had to post this. Carol King was my absolutely favorite female singer when I was…well, young (very young). Her voice is a little scratchy here, but she still has that uniqueness I always loved about her.
Thx for posting — love this song! 10 yrs ago at a record album convention, I found a copy of Carole King’s Tapestry album for $2.
OMG – I still have my original album of Tapestry. I have nothing to play it on but I’ve got it! That and Abbey Road and a few others.
Carole King is pop music royalty. Her discography is among the most impressive in music history, and those of us who grew up in the ’60s can thank her for writing some of the best songs of that or any era. I’ve seen her in concert, and she and David give the same minimalist, satisfying, unpretentious performances of the songs they sing. “Tapestry” was required listening in the early ’70s, but Carole had a number of excellent albums after that. Check out “Wrap Around Joy”, “Rhymes and Reasons” and “Music”. Classics all.
The song of Carole’s that I would love David to sing is “Now and Forever”. It was the opening song in the movie “League of Their Own”. Another would be “Some Kind of Wonderful” made popular by the Drifters.
Next to David, Carole King is my favorite person of the rock era. Thanks for posting this thread, Marlie.
Great memories of Carole King songs. She is a wonderful song-smith.
Of topic:
I made some changes in my latest video. Betsy told me how much she liked the video. She reminded me about her son doing 2 tours in Iraq. I thought to myself, well here we have a true hero in our own TDC extended family. I asked her to send me a picture of him and a write a short sentence about him and photograph that as well. Here is my revised video.
Abrra
I forgot to say, I will be deleting the previous incarnation of that video. I appreciate all the kind comments. Unfortunately, they can’t be saved on YT. I shall carry them in my heart.
Abrra
Abrra: I love the new ending.
Betsy: You must be so proud and very glad to have him home. Tell him Thank you!
Very beautiful video Abrra. I enjoyed watching it along with listening to David sing one of his best songs.
Markie and bliss
Thank you! I seem to be in some kind of video making frenzy. Working on Falling right now. Another orphan song. No David in it, but he sings his heart out.
Abrra
LOL Marlie sorry! My fat fingers strike again, bad typo!
Abrra
I’m a Carole King fan, too, and am trying to learn some of her songs on the piano actually. I love the elements of soul and jazz that she brought to her songs. I agree with Bliss – very Davidesque.
I loved the vid of CK, Marlie7. Thanks! I had not heard this version and I so like it better than the one on her album. Hearing this performed this way, I agree with your observations about minimalism.
I can totally imagine DA singing this. Ho. Far Away? Contigo en la distancia?
Too fun.
Abrra, keep up the great work. Your videos ooze with your love for David. Can’t wait for “Falling”.
Could you imagine David’s version of Carole’s “You’ve Got a Friend”. or the ballad version of “Will You Love Me Tomorrow”? How about a box set of classic ballads from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s? The possibilities are as endless as they are intoxicating.
Bliss one of these days you will simply IMPLODE with love for David!
Abrra
I remember so clearly when my parents bought the Carole King Tapestry album. Our stereo was set up in our living room which was devoid of furniture. I would sit on the floor with the honking big stereo headphones on listening to those songs over and over again for hours on end. I had to be six or seven at the time. Hah. My son is seven today. <3 To this day I can sing every lyric of every song on that album. For me, David could cover any of the songs on Tapestry and I would implode with love.
Just have to share this post at Archuleta Philippines:

2. Two is Better Than One – Boys Like Girls feat Taylor Swift
3. I Want to Know What Love Is – Mariah Carey
4. Already Gone – Kelly Clarkson
5. Happy – Leona Lewis
Abrra, One of the reasons I love to write about David is that it allows me to release some of the built up love and respect I have for him. That keeps me from imploding, although when I see performances such as we saw on the ALMAs, my cup runneth over.
Oh Marlie. I just knew you were a Carole King fan, as am I! I remember listening to Tapestry on the front porch around 1970. My mother had taken in another of my sisters’ friends to live with us. (Eight kids were not enough for her. Anyone having trouble was welcome to live with us) She was an artist, and would paint on the front porch, while listening to Tapestry. I always thought it was the best thing I had ever heard.
Abrra – Thanks for the beautiful video. It’s a healing thing. For realz.:)
Abrra..Again, your “Save The Day” video is beautiful! Can’t wait to see what you do with “Falling”! And Betsy, you are obviously so proud of your son, and you should be! I’m so glad for you that he’s home.
David is going to Brooke, Michael Johns & Benton Paul’s concert tonight according to MJ. Actually, he’s probably already there.
Marlie, I love Carole King..She wrote so many great songs for so many artists. I also have the original Tapesty album on vinyl and remastered cd. This is Carole singing one of my very favorites, “It’s Too Late”..OMG..what sweet memories her songs bring back…
Thanks for the memories Marlie. Have heard Carol King in a long time. And thanks Abrra for the videos and for taking the time to twaek them and make them special. Really cool thing to do.
Hope David has fun tonight. Michael Johns let slip in a tweet where David will be and I hope that doesn’t cause a crowd problem.
That should be haven’t heard Carol King….
SF – Actually, he’s been home for a long time. We just didn’t want anyone to get the idea that it was some kind of “tribute” video, if you know what I mean. Wanted everyone to know that he made it home.
Betsy, Yes I know your son has been home for some time now. But I do think of Abrra’s vid as a “tribute” not only to your son, but to all the men & women who have gone through something some of us can only imagine. I hope your son is doing well!
Hope David has a wonderful time tonight!
Good night & for David…
Dear lord,
Please take care of David.
Watch over him, protect him from all harm.
Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path.
Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give.
Surround David with loving and supportive people who love him unconditionally as we, his devoted Archangels do.
Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being.
Give him rest when he feels weary.
Give him stamina to sustain his hectic pace.
Give him assurance when he feels doubt.
Give him joy when he feels sad and never allow David to feel alone or lonely.
GIVE US THE WISDOM TO ALWAYS DO RIGHT BY DAVID.
OPEN OUR EYES AND HELP US IN THE WAY WE SUPPORT DAVID SO THAT IT’S ALWAYS IN HIS BEST INTERESTS.
Cloak him always in your protective arms during this time on his journey.
Keep David and and his voice healthy and strong as he fulfills his Destiny which was written in his Book of Life before he was born.
Though we may be unworthy Lord, we humbly pray. Amen
David, hope you have a good night’s sleep with sweet & happy dreams. Thank you for all you do and for who you are. Keep with you all our love, prayers and warm thoughts!
Contigo siempre en la distancia, con amor!
My older sister has this album also. I can remember her and I as young girls singing,(tryin’ anyway!) to Carole soooo many times when things were a little “hectic” with the parents. Tapestry took us to better places…ahhh memories!
SF, I haven’t thanked you for posting your prayer for David in awhile…THANK-YOU!
Sleep is better imagining God has heard our(your) humble requests for David!
Betsy,
Please let your son know my family says THANKS A BUNCH for his service to our country!
MY NEW video is finished. It comes with a caution: The subject matter MAY be too intense for some viewers.
Here is WTC 911 — Falling sung by David Archuleta
Abrra
Abrra: Tears. Wow. The images are amazing. Thanks for sharing that with us.
Marlie
Angleica previewed the opening, she told me:
“Looks good so far. I don’t think it’s too much for the subject matter. Master is using her dark powers. If not expressed, they will turn inward on you. Release them.”
I took her advice.
Grasshopper is wise.
Abrra
Wow, Abrra what a powerful video that was. It left me in tears. I pray that we will never forget.
Abrra, this, in my opinion is your finest work yet. You have done a beautiful tribute to a tragedy of epic proportions.
Lest we forget..lest we forget.
Master is not only wise but possesses a great heart.
The grasshopper bows and is moved beyond what heart can express.
Abrra – agree with Angelica, “this, in my opinion is your finest work yet. You have done a beautiful tribute to a tragedy of epic proportions.”
With the content you provided set to David’s Falling left me temporarily incapacitated. Lest we forget……
marlie – loved Carole King’s Tapestry. Looks like alot of DA fans took the same music prepatory course in life’s journey.
What a trip down memory lane. Carol King, along with Joni Mitchell, are my all time favorite singer/songwriters from the 1970′s. I think I wore out my Tapestry album from playing it so much. I remember my autograph book from 6th grade had a front “favorites” part. Coincidentally, the answer to what was my favorite all time song ever?, “So Far Away.” Of course that was the 1970′s, but it is still up there amongst my favorites!!
Marlie, “Thanks for the delicious memories!”
Hey Marlie…
I couldn’t figure out why you posted this….duh…a David tweet.
I sometimes can’t believe the wealth of music he knows. He has introduced me to new music and to back in time to music I once enjoyed.
Thank you Marlie for this post!
djafan: Yes, most of the time if I post a Short Take – it is in response to one of David’s tweets. I probably didn’t make it clear in the explanation above. I just changed it.
Marlie:
Thanks for the great memories from Carole King’s “Tapestry”. It boggles the mind to think about all the songs that David knows, especially from our generation! What oldie will he tweet next? BTW, my favorite track on Tapestry is “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?”
Oh thank you Marlie!
You didn’t have to on my account…as you can see I’m the only one that didn’t put 2 and 2 together.
