The Orange Voice
On the Correlation Between Spirit and Art
Recently David tweeted about a dream in which he was riding in an orange car that kept breaking down. (And that it was irritating!) This cryptic sketch of his innermost thoughts reminded me of the poem I wrote some months back, which you see above. I found it so intriguing that his subconscious chose the color orange for his vehicle, it’s such a powerful color. It’s the color of success, creativity, passion, freedom and independence. It’s about action and achieving one’s goals. Metaphysically, it is the color of the second chakra. Having his last three shows canceled was not something within his control, and this dream sounds like a visual representation of having his freedom (self-determination) compromised.
This color-dream correlation gave me pause, asking once again–”Why this ODD? Why me? What is it about David and that dang Voice of his–and his journey–that I connect with so deeply?” But then I was reminded of this bit of wisdom:

Now I’m wondering–if we are all connected, why do we here at TDC seem to be more connected to David than to many of those others? It’s an enigma. Apparently, an orange one.

I saw a Georgia O’Keeffe show a few days ago and one thing that struck me anew was her brilliant use of color. Deep purples, bright pinks and oranges. Her work is full of life and vitality. Each color has its own emotional reaction.

Hello dear ones, I’m sure that the vibrancy of David’s spirit will permeate the site, servers and WP administrators, and restore them all to health! Here’s to orange power! It is an enigma, but the connection he makes is very real and intense. The me I was before him is strange for me to contemplate. I was, but not all of me. And then I connected through him to all of you, and to so much more of me. I can’t explain it, but I know it’s real and one of the most singularly strange and wonderful things to ever happen in my life. And I have not lived a dull life.
I really loved your poem… I didn’t know orange to be such a strong color… fall colors are my favorite, orange being one of them which I wear often. Interesting….

This seems to be the question with no answer… I for one hope for one, sometimes this connection seems to make such logical sense and then I question my sanity but then I read here and wonder if the answer is in all these wonderful posts by all who post here and I’m just not meant to see it yet….
Haven’t posted the Archangels Prayer for David..for reasons I won’t go into and which don’t really matter anyway. David is traveling by car and I think it’s a good time & important to post the prayer. Good for my peace of mind anyway even if only one other Archangel recites it with me.

Dear Lord,
Please take care of David. Watch over him, protect him from all harm. Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path. Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give. Surround David with loving and supportive people who love him unconditionally as we, his devoted Archangels do. Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being. Give him rest when he’s weary. Give him the stamina to sustain his hectic pace. Give him assurance when he feels doubt. Give him joy when he feels sad. Cloak him always in your protective arms during this time on his journey. Keep David and and his VOICE HEALTHY AND STRONG as he fulfills his Destiny which was written in his Book of Life before he was born. And please Lord, give us, David’s forever fans, the wisdom to know when and how to do right by David. Open our eyes and help us in the way we support David so that it’s always in his best interests. Keep David, his mom & sisters safe on their road trip. Though we may be unworthy Lord, we humbly pray. Amen

Beautiful poem. Seems we all can relate to at least one of those colors. Personally I love the color orange, always have. I guess it is the sunsets here. They are amazing bright orange and the color reflects on the Sandia mountains. It was mentioned some where that we must have been “chosen” to follow or witness this journey David is on. Maybe that is why so many people don’t “get him” but do love him. I think it is so much deeper than “oh I love David …..he is so cute….” It is a deep down feeling in the core of our hearts and souls. Like a child, or a spouse, a parent -- he is always on our minds but mostly in our hearts. Yes we have been chosen for some reason.

Happy Labor Day Weekend!! Sounds like David is making his way to Cali (as he calls it) and I can’t wait! I just got my confirmation letter to attend the ALMA Awards! Taping is the night before on the 17th at UCLA… This will help take away some of the pain of not getting to the Providence and Manchester concerts and if I see Demi Lovato I’ll…I’ll…I’ll… well you get my point! Anyway no cameras allowed so I will have to take in every moment in my Davidized brain…

Congrats Mike! How very wonderful you get to see David at the ALMAs. Question..do you need an interpreter? I’ll be happy to oblige. You can say I’m your older sister (I can pass…we have the same hair!) and I threatened you with bodily harm if you didn’t take me along.
Anyway, like they say..having the right “contacts” are really a blessing in certain circumstances. Good for you! You deserve this as one of David’s most devoted fans. To be able to see David accept an award at a “meaningful” awards show is truly a blessing.

Thanks for all of the comments… I really am excited to attend. I am also still waiting to hear from the coordinator for the Emmys being held live on the 20th at the Nokia. I spoke to him while I was in New England and am now just waiting for a confirmation letter to attend that. I’m thinking if David is in town for the ALMA’s on Thurday night he might just hang around for the Prime Time Emmys on Sunday?? What are the odds??

For me, orange = sunshine; sunshine = light; and light = David. Re. the orange car tweet, I thought of a cab where David was a driver taking other people where they wanted to go. My interpretation was similar to yours, that perhaps David believes his freedom is being compromised.

Here’s my reading of the dream. There’s an element of travel, an element of frustration. What does the car signify? It’s the means to his destination--that is to say, his vocal equipment. What is the destination? Success as a singer. That’s the route he’s traveling.
I think the dream reveals both his impatience with the continual vocal impediments that crop up along his career path--and his unconscious ambition. It’s a pretty flashy orange-colored car he’s driving, though it’s sometimes not as reliable as he’d like it to be, given factors like vocal strain, fatique, illness, contractual demands, etc. Clearly he can’t wait to get to the top--which is where he’s headed.
This is the first Sunday in more than a month of Sunday’s that David has actually taken OFF. That is…no word at all from him or about him, ie..sightings, real or imagined. Good for him! But most likely we will get word about David taking part in a Fireside or some kind of church related event, even though he prefers those events be kept private, there’s always a leak by someone wanting to let the world know they saw HIM and how awesome he is!

There’s an article in a paper nearby me today that mentions David. The Grand Rapids Press has consistently given David strong reviews, and the local Fox 17 channel interviewed David again before his recent August 17 show:

Before David, my life was pretty much blue. My home was blue, my wardrobe mostly blue. It was a safe and comfortable time for me. Then along came David.
The color palette of my life exploded to include the rainbow and all shades in between. There have been road trips to David venues with my grandchildren (who are in their 20′s and 30′s) that have brought us memories we will always share. With little David notes running through our veins, our lives are intertwined in a way they never were.
highervibe…Green is my favorite color. Almost everything I have has green in it. The taping is Thursday evening and I will be driving back to San Diego the same night. I’ve wondered about what to do since I don’t want to be a spoiler for those who want to see it as it unfolds on TV on Friday. So, I’m sure I’ll be good and keep quiet until the show airs…unless something really juicy happens then I may have to drop some hints…
It makes sense that he would do a full song in Spanish. Only question I have for myself is “if that happens, how will I ever drive home that night??”

But that would be an unduly negative interpretation of what most people would think was a harmless adolescent fact of life. Hello--any grownups around here?
Speaking of grown up -- do you talk about your bathroom habits at the dinner table? Need someone to pull your finger so you can make rude noises?
There are just things that don’t need to be discussed in a public forum. You might want to, so go talk about them somewhere else. Everybody here gets it. We don’t need to articulate it in detail. We ARE grown-up and enough said is enough said. Sheesh.
The erotic sensibility on this site has often veered into places I have felt was over-the-line. Yet I’ve never called anyone on it. So it’s particularly offensive to me to have some here imply that the innocent remark I posted was somehow vulgar and off limits! I say again, it should bring smiles to our faces--not ugly comments about “bodily functions”! Let’s grow up.

Highervibe, your poem is very thought provoking. Autum is one of my times of the year when the leave on many trees turn a brilliant orange. I love juicey oranges slightly chilled and beautiful sunsets when the whole sky has a calming organge hue.
Other than that, I don’t have a lot of orange in my life. I guess I need to rectify that.

You know, this used to be a great site, one where mature fans of David could exchange thoughtful and insightful observations about him and his career. Que pasa? David voluntarily shares a dream with over 200.000 of his fans on Twitter and if someone (Praepos) wishes to share his interpretation of the dream on this “adult” site, it is squashed like a bug. Personally, I would like to see Praepos’ take on the dream, and see how it compares to mine. I have interpreted dreams professionally for many years. Praepos is a bright guy. Why are you censoring him? Frankly, it stinks.
I wold like a dime for every reference to David’s body made on this site. His thighs, his lips, his tuchis, his sweat, his muscles, his jeans (it ain’t about denim),his face etal. Every sexual inuendo under the sun has been made on this site, and sometimes it has made ME squirm, but not one of these posts has ever been censored. It’s called LIFE, and we are here to discuss David’s. David is almost 19 years old. He is no longer the David on American Idol, or on the AI tour. He is a first rate performer, and a sexy one at that. The posts here reflect that.
Liz, # 3 on the list of acceptable topics says that David’s private life is off limits, unless it is a topic that David has discussed publicly. Has David ever publicly discussed:
1) His father’s arrest
2) His management’s career decisions and handling of him
3) How he should dress or how tight his jeans should look.
4) who he should tour with
5) his education
6) etc, etc. etc
He HAS, however, discussed a dream he had and did not make any mention that he did not want it discussed on a mature web site.
The hypocrisy here is undeniably breathtaking.

For the simple reason that David’s family and associates come by here, is reason enough to let the “interpretation” of his tweet drop. If there is any doubt about that, David himself has made written reference to something (harmless) mentioned here at TDC on a blog.
If you want to revel in boyhood remembrances that’s a great idea! Email is a good place to take it.
I am going to let David have his privacy, even if it appears he has breached it. He is young. He tends to be unfiltered in some areas.

I understand that fan sites. as with all things in life, change, and become something other than it was. This is definitely the case with TDC. It is now obvious that TDC is now exclusively a “fangirl” site with giggly women winking at each other knowingly whenever David displays a provocative pose or “look”. TDC is now the AARP version of Snarky Archies.
Talking of David’s dream about hot springs and volcanoes, the first thing that came to mind is …. Is he coming back to the Philippines?!? We have lots of hot springs and landmark volcanoes south of Manila, in Laguna, Tagaytay and Bicol.

1.Abrra ‘For the simple reason that David’s family and associates come by here, is reason enough to let the “interpretation” of his tweet drop. If there is any doubt about that, David himself has made written reference to something (harmless) mentioned here at TDC on a blog.’
TBH this statement is actually more worrying than the all censure discussion, if we need to keep in mind that Davids people lurking the comments of fansites before post a opinion , i need to tell we are already conditined to a extern agent who gonna limit the free expresion and opinion of the posters…idk maybe i don’t get exactly what you want to said , but i don’t see why this is the justification to the censure thing?

David brings out the very best in me, including my defense of free speech, which was the theme of today’s debate. The issue today was not “bodily events” it was censorship. Nobody in their right mind would want a bunch of strangers waxing poetic or otherwise about one’s bodily events. I adore David, but his “bodily events” are his business, not mine.
David shared a dream he had with his minions. Who really knows what it meant? David is a great student, and probably got an A in biology. He knows about all this stuff, and my guess is he’s not the slightest bit freaked out about it. I was a young guy once, and, believe me, it’s all good.

I am saying that to allow the discussion that praepos was trying to initiate about interpreting a dream with erotic innuendo ( I don’t know for sure if that is where he was leading) but his post was deleted, so I will assume it was inappropriate.
Simply stated that David’s “people” do lurk. For them to read an erotic prose on David’s dream tweet might be over the line of good taste.

When I first heard about David’s dream with the orange car, my first thought of was David was concerned over school. Murray High’s school color is orange and David just had a visit with one of his old classmates. But, then I came onto TDC and I read other interpretations that made more sense. Now on this volcano dream, I’m not even going to try to figure out what it means but, I did locate another that made alot of sense. I found it on AF -- It’s too bad the OP did not list the author or where she found it.
“The first and most obvious association of volcanoes in dreams is an indication of “erupting” emotions, often of anger. And while in some cases this may be true, it is more than likely only a small part of the story, and in other cases, may not have these kind of associations with anger at all.

However, volcano dreams can also appear when we are anxious or stressed, and indicate the mounting tensions we feel in life. If we feel like the dream is full of fear and anxiety, this may be a reflection of feelings we are having in waking life. When this is the case, we can look to other areas of the dream for signs and hints to help us manage or resolve the causes of this anxiety.
Fire and lava can be cleansing, so volcano dreams can be signs of spiritual or psychological growth. Volcanoes as they erupt can help purge blockages, so volcano dreams may imply a release of tension, or a resolution of a problem. Volcanoes when they have calmed down also change the face of the earth, they can leave islands in the sea where there once were none, they can create mountains and craters and fertile valleys. So volcano dreams can also be symbols of creativity, sometimes in a frighteningly forceful way. But if we can be prepared for the awesome power that is potential within us, when it is unleashed we can be more aware and then be able to direct the power to our own goals, instead of wildly erupting and possibly damaging those around us.

What is amazing to me is that we “mature” and normally “sane” women (& men) are so intense in our feelings about David’s artistry and everything else about him. He’s 18 years old, for gosh sakes! I never, ever DREAMED I would be so invested, emotionally and every other way, in someone, anyone, other than my own kids the way I am about David Archuleta. I want David to be successful and loved by everyone all over the world! I want the whole world to HEAR him, see him the way we do. To see what David will become…a major force in the world of entertainment, in the world period! I want to feel justified I guess, for being one of David’s fans at my age, because I didn’t expect it to happen. To be a fan of an 18 year old pop singer. I want everyone who thinks we, his faithful followers are crazy to fall under his spell the way we have. I want everyone to feel the way we do. It’s a great feeling most of the time (except when some think it’s weird or yucky for David to have older fans, and let us know in no uncertain terms). But we just want to protect him. We want to celebrate him. We want the world for him. For what he has brought to our lives.
And most of us have been getting AARP literature for a while now. At least, I have. So what? David makes me feel young & alive. And maybe that is one of his purposes..to bring joy & life to some of us who needed it so badly. For that, I will follow David for the rest of my life.

Sometimes I can see my own relection staring back at me on my computer screen when I’m watching David perform or just appear somewhere. David puts a look of joy on MY face that I haven’t seen in years. I’ve had the pleasure of telling him twice that I loved and admired him. I hope to get more opportunities to say it to him in the future.

LotusB and Bliss: Moderation is an automatic feature and occurs for many reasons -- we do not sit around and read and release comments -- 99.9% go through without a hitch. But sometimes a word or combination of words that are considered SPAM by our WordPress SPAM filter, or that we have set up in a list, will cause a comment to be held. Also, too many links, will halt a comment in the queue. Sometimes JR’s posts go into moderation because she posted too many vids at once. I keep upping the number of links allowed, but she is too prolific at finding them.

I understand perfectly the bad taste part, but about the about some erotic comments , i need to tell (and i don’t want to offend anyone here) they were always presents here,with another kind and romantic lenguage but always here, since the old site, many times i just laught so hard.
I agree that if his family lurking on the fansites , this comments, expresed in all kind of lenguages maybe make them feel very incomfortable, so i hope they don’t do that, because that is their risk.

The glorious part about being older is that you cease to care what others think about your interests, activities, convictions or obsessions. After so many years of experience, you just know when it’s worth it.
My siblings still tease me about David, but with a grudging respect now. They are noticing him. My children—all four very musical—encourage the “new” me and give credit for my improved outlook to what they call “the David factor.” My husband, who finally figured out that there is no serious reason to be jealous of David, is planning our David Archuleta Christmas Concert Tour, starting here in Idaho—Fa-la-la-la-la.
I have introduced David’s voice to many people, but I no longer feel the same sense of urgency for their immediate conversion. David seems to be doing it for me, in time. He’s magic like that.

I’m not sure if it was the ‘R’ word that got me caught up in the moderation net but I will happily avoid it in the future.
While it’s hard not hearing from David other than a few tweets, I am so glad that he has time to himself. I actually don’t read anything into his dreams. I’m just happy that he’s getting some sleep. And now he’s taking in the landscape around him and singing Beatles tunes. Nice.
Listened to the chat with Ray. David is lucky to have someone like Ray, who obviously cares about David the person, not just David, the Star. And Ray is also very fortunate to be in the presence of such shining light. There is a deep respect for David that comes through when Ray talked about him. I hope their association lasts a good long time.

Please take care of David.
Watch over him, protect him from all harm.
Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path.
Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give.
Surround David with loving and supportive people who love him unconditionally as we, his devoted Archangels do.
Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being.
Give him rest when he feels weary.
Give him stamina to sustain his hectic pace.
Give him assurance when he feels doubt.
Give him joy when he feels sad and never allow David to feel alone or lonely.
Give us the wisdom to know when and how to do right by David.
Open our eyes and help us in the way we support David so that it’s always in his best interests.
Cloak him always in your protective arms during this time on his journey.
Keep David and and his voice healthy and strong as he fulfills his Destiny which was written in his Book of Life before he was born.
Keep David & his family safe while on their vacation, especially while on the road.
