Down on the Boardwalk
It Was Worth the Wait
As a child I had vacationed with my family in the old Atlantic City for many years. So going back to see the built up casinos brought some sweet memories; salt water taffy, skiball, and the Steel Pier. But at times it was difficult to focus on those things with the anticipation of Sunday afternoon’s concert. Friday and Saturday were spent with my sister enjoying the sites and losing every penny we planned to spend on the slots. But Sunday morning we had big plans.
At 10:00 AM we checked out of our hotel and drove over to the Taj Mahal. After what seemed like miles of walking we reached the Sultan’s Feast Buffet and were greeted by Refnaf and TOfan who had arrived just minutes before us. A sweet reunion was followed by a search for the other members of our breakfast party. Happy, Nina, SilverFox, Lorna and KathyT had already arrived. Soon after we sat down, SandyBeaches and Bebereader joined us. What an amazing group of people. All suffering from ODD, and all there for the purpose of hearing and seeing an 18-year-old singer who has stolen our hearts.
Bebereader and her sweet husband, Steve, Silverfox and I had VIP tickets. Bebe and I were about to meet David for the first time. After waiting in line from 12:30 until close to 1:15, the door to the room finally opened and we entered a large conference room. We had a few snacks and waited. Dawn65 and her daughter joined us and it was such a pleasure meeting her as well. She’s famous in these parts. Finally Kristen announced that we would be going to the Arena to hear David do his sound check instead of having him do an acoustic session.
While filing into the arena, David was saying hello to people from the stage. He was warm and welcoming and completely at ease. The stage is his and he exudes confidence there, even when not singing. He sang Touch My Hand and A Little Too Not Over You. It was interesting watching him sing those songs without the stage moves we normally see. He was saving his energy for the performance. But there was nothing restrained about his VOICE. And pure pleasure hearing him sing without the screaming fans in the audience.
Then David sat on the edge of the stage and talked. He was funny, charming, rambling until Ray spoke through his earpiece and told him to hurry up. David didn’t seem fazed by it. He answered another question and then he said he’d see us in a little while. We went back to the large conference room and made a line leading to the screen where the pictures are taken. It was rushed, I’m sorry to say, but it didn’t diminish the experience for me.
Standing in line watching those before me approach David, I notice that he gave each person his full attention. Finally it was my turn, and I had no idea what to say to him. I walked up to him and held out my hand to shake and said, “Hi David, I’m Marlie.” He took my hand and said, “Hi, Marlie.” I looked into his eyes and he looked into mine. Pure and open connection. He didn’t look away until they said it was time to take the picture. I’m surprised I could move into place. I was so totally mesmerized by those emerald green eyes that I cannot get them out of my mind. Not that I’m trying very hard, of course.
We stood for the picture and I didn’t put my arm around him – I didn’t even think to, I was still trying to deal with the eye contact. But David put his hand on my back and leaned in for the picture. Then we turned and looked at one another again. I said, “Thank you, for everything.” And he smiled and said, “You’re welcome.” As I started to walk away he said, “Thank you for coming.”
How simple an exchange was that? But I was so moved by his eyes, that as I collected my bag of goodies, left the room and walked through the casino to find my sister, I was fighting tears. I stepped outside for a minute because I needed to collect myself before I met up with my sister and the other TDC’ers. I can’t explain what it felt like, but those of you who have met him know exactly what I mean – there is something calming about being with David, and then there is a rush of emotion. Some would say it was the aftermath of anticipation. No. That’s not it. It’s more, so much more. I hope each and every one of you can experience that.
I cannot end without saying that the concert itself was perfection. David was perfection. Every note was spot on, and even though he favored his leg a bit, he gave every bit of energy to his performance and ended each song with that signature smile. You know the one…

Update: Videos from the AC VIP thanks toMsLemonade08

Great article, Marlie7! I just wish I had been there with all of you, I’d love to meet all the posters on TDC but simply do not have the time nor the money to go anywhere. The only reason I’m going out to SLC is because my parents are letting me use their flier miles; if they didn’t have them to spare, I would not be able to go. The only opportunity I’ve had to leave NC was back in February when I drove to Richmond to see David in concert. So far I haven’t found any fans on this website or Snarkies or FOD who are attending the concert in SLC, let alone the VIP gathering beforehand. I don’t think David sold out the concert hall, probably because people in Utah are so used to him.
The last time I was in Atlantic City was on a Girl Scout outing in 1968. I’d love to see it again.
Thanks for telling me about the VIP experience, it’s giving me an idea of what to expect. I’ll probably be so overwhelmed that I’ll be speechless or say something stupid. How can an almost 19-year-old boy have almost total control over everyone who meets him? It’s almost as though there’s a hypnotic quality about him. Sounds good to me!
Have a nice day everyone!
today, november 4th, is ”david archuleta day” on the heartbeat cafe, broadcast on ireland radio..… tune in to hear david’s music – they will also be taking requests via twitter, and email.

Nice article Marlie.
“It’s almost as though there’s a hypnotic quality about him. ”
Being in David’s orbit truly is like Zero Gravity. His calm demeanor reminds me of a bearded dragon lizard at sunset. The heart rate drops and energy is reserved. It is so zen like. He never needs to raise his speaking voice. We hear every word. I stood and watched nearly 100 people walk up to him. David was the epitome of charm and grace. Always made extra effort to greet the children and ask how they were. He made them feel so special.

happy david archuleta day!
Thanks for the lovely review Marlie…It was nice to meet you at breakfast in Atlantic City. I finally found the gorgeous ocean near the boardwalk, that was just outside the restaurant window. By the third city in four days, with five airplanes for the complete trip, I began to wonder how David ever knows where he is anymore.
I think that it was amazing just how many TDCers ended up at the nearly forgotten concerts (with the Christmas concerts on everyone’s mind). It was a conference for sure and the entertainment was fantastic!
I took a picture Saturday night that I won’t show but will tell you about. It was Hallowe’en night and there were some great costumes in the Taj Mahal. Several of us were walking together and stopped to talk in the very wide hallway with music and passing Hallowe’en characters making it difficult to hear each other. First I believe SF noticed that David had tweeted, then everyone pulled out their cellphones. I looked up and there was a ‘circle’ of people looking down and reading his message on their cellphones. We were in the middle of a huge party, which they had become oblivious to. The message from David said that he had been driving around and had been “lost” for awhile. The dismal look on their faces for those moments of concern was priceless, so I stepped back and took a few pictures…they never even noticed. It was a most memorable gathering from Manchester to Atlantic City and places in between.
SB
SB: It was so good to meet you, too. I only wish I had had more time to spend with each of the amazingly cool women at that breakfast table. My sister enjoyed the gathering and said, “What a fun, smart group of women.”
Marlie -
Ah yes…that Archugaze…sounds like such a powerful moment that I’m almost hesitant to sign up for the experience. It’s hard enough dealing with all the other aspects of my ODD. An eye lock with those gorgeous emerald greens may just send me into a permanent state of Archumania. :0
But I felt like I was right there with you at that magical moment – thanks for a wonderful recap!
And it was great to finally meet you!
And Cutter, wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed reading about your trip to Manchester and concert experience. Always a treat to get reports from a first-timer, and yours was especially well-written. Geesh, are you really just a college frosh??
What a simple greeting. Thanks for sharing, Marlie.
On second thought from my previous post…
Make that a permanent state of Archustupor, lol
Marlie, what a wonderful heartfelt article. Thank you for sharing your experience with us; I imagine it is not always easy to share ones feelings from these upclose and personal moments with David.
From someone who has not yet mustered the courage for a VIP, am grateful for all the recaps.
(so, did dawn fare any better this time?)
If it hasn’t been mentioned, take a gander over to FOD for more AC soundcheck pics…..my.
Zoe: Archustupor – perfect word for the state of being after an encounter with David. I know that people who don’t have ODD don’t get it at all, and I almost hesitated to share even as much as I did, but I knew you all would understand.
HG: I spent a lot of time thinking of something to say to David, with no good result. I went into the VIP with nothing in mind. For me, that simple exchange was so zen-like that nothing else was necessary in either direction.
Marlie – I am bursting with happiness for you. If you had managed to come up with something clever to say, it might have simply spoiled that quiet moment, that eye contact. It’s not about the words, it’s just the pleasure of being near him.
Marlie -- after reading your title, this song has been going through my head.
The original band is The Drifters. This is a tribute band.
Marlie….
It is such a decision to share as much as you have and I’m sooo glad you did. Reading and hearing others put into words what was my own experience and so many others allows us all to come together in this unexplainable “Archustupor”. Those emerald green eyes have such a quality, like brilliant crystals, but there is more, so much more there and it brings that welcoming calmness after all the nervous anticipation and leaves us craving for more, maybe here in lies the spell, we want more…just talk to those treking the country for multiple VIP’s…lol
I’m so happy for you and if you are feeling the aftermath of such an encounter…we’re here for you. See you real soon\wink.
Thank you for allowing us in this wonderful experience that is David.
Marlie – Thank you for sharing your VIP and fan meet and greet experiences with us. I know all about that Archugaze. It’s like Abrra said, “Being in David’s orbit truly is like Zero Gravity. His calm demeanor reminds me of a bearded dragon lizard at sunset. The heart rate drops and energy is reserved. It is so zen like.” When I first experienced that gaze, my heart was trying to beat its way out of my chest. Then suddenly it stopped pounding and just melted. I felt such a sweet, surreal peace come over me. So thanks again for sharing that moment. I’m so happy that so many of you got to meet up at last.
Marlie:
It was a pleasure to finally meet you on Sunday! You did a terrific job of organizing the fan gathering at Sultan’s Feast. Sharing brunch and pre-VIP jitters with you and your sister, Donna, Nina, TOfan, SandyBeaches, Silverfox, Lorna, happy, Kathy, refnaf was delightful! During the meal, I called djafan who lives on the opposite coast so she could “meet” everyone, as we passed the phone from one to another.
There is something unique about becoming friends online by chatting and blogging consistently for a long period of time. There is a tendency to let one’s guard down when a computer screen is blocking your view which sometimes leads to closer friendships than those made offline. Nothing can compare to the thrill of seeing the screennames come to life in the third dimension! I was one of the last to arrive at the buffet brunch to a table full of unknown faces. Everyone went around the table introducing themselves but it took a while to digest it all. Matching a screen name to a face to a real name was a real challenge but also very gratifying.
It was exhilarating to see David larger than life, owning the stage during Soundcheck. For those who haven’t yet had the pleasure, let me tell you that he’s even more captivating than you’d imagine. I’m so used to seeing him onstage performing to a crowd. At Soundcheck, we got to see a different side, as he answered questions, signed tshirts and casually chatted with HIS fans. The comfort level was there; he was so comfortable talking to us. I finally believe that he gets it; he knows we are there for him and he genuinely appreciates us. Cordial, funny and random at the same time, he pointed to the back wall of the stage at one point, and asked if something (fog?) was always there or if it was just there that day! haha Dawn, who doesn’t miss a trick answered “No, it’s always been there.” LOL
Another singer of David’s magnitude, with half his talent, life experiences and good fortune could be full of himself with arrogance. Instead, David is the antithesis of arrogance, he is all about humility. I get the impression that although he’s grateful to be able to do what he loves to do, his celebrity doesn’t faze him. His humility alone is an inspiration to us all!
I’m still welled up with emotion from the weekend and will get to ‘My long awaited meeting with David Archuleta’ a little later. BBS
Oops, I’ve been in chatrooms for too long. BBS translation: Be back soon. LOL

Marli – Thanks for the beautifully written article. Because it was more than a recap. When I got to this I wasn’t even fighting the tears:
“How simple an exchange was that? But I was so moved by his eyes, that as I collected my bag of goodies, left the room and walked through the casino to find my sister, I was fighting tears. Thanks for sharing your memories and feelings. I know the feeling, precisely.
Funny how a year ago we were all questioning why – how? Now it doesn’t matter anymore.

That is so nice GG! I left a tweet DM to a friend in Utah about lulu needing to meet fans. I am sure now that lulu will have an army to hang with!
Abrra
Lulu, I am going to SLC. There are a lot of us from here going and we love all David fans. It will be a blast. You can tweet me. I am claudiaNRR on twitter. Thanks Abraa for the heads up
Marlie, I loved your story of meeting David. It was perfect. And I think what you said was perfect for David. Meeting him is such an interesting experience. There is the look. There is the calm. (Remember when Tom McFly said he was like yoga? lol) I think when you meet him it is remarkable in that there is no pretense and no defense. Does that make sense? I can not tell you how much respect and admiration I have for this unique and beyond talented person.
Marlie,
Thank You for sharing. For those of us lucky enough in this lifetime to meet David, it an experience that packs an emotional whallop. As beautiful and unbelievable as his voice is, it is seeing his personality on display in the flesh and getting a gaze from his eyes which remains with you the longest. You will never be quite the same again.
Abrra,
I also meant to comment on your beautifully written reflection. I love these types of posts the most because you are at your most vulnerable, and everyone can experience even a snippet of the magic. I am always mindful of the many Archies both here in the US and around the world who yearn to meet David in the flesh at least to say Thank You!
YOU CAN do more than wave your spammer wand …LOL!
Hi All,
I’m a little under the weather – (I’m glad whatever I had brewing had the good sense to wait till after AC). I didn’t want to let anymore time pass without telling you all what a wonderful time I had, at both the concert as well as the brunch and after party. The joy that we all share from David created an instant bond that felt so comfortable right from the start. So for all the new people that I met, as well as the ones that I knew already, thank for the perfect day. You are all beautiful and intelligent women!
Now with that being said, I am going to rest again and try to get rid of whatever it is that is ailing me.
Let me echo what Joymus said and thank everyone for their concert and VIP stories. Next best thing to being there is to hear the sweet details from those who were.
joymus . November 4, 2009 at 5:55 pm .
Thank you for your kind words Joymus. Being in the same space in the universe as David is where I am the happiest!
“I am always mindful of the many Archies both here in the US and around the world who yearn to meet David in the flesh at least to say Thank You!”
I will add something more about my experience. A few of the ladies I was with in Manchester and Providence gave me their VIP goody bags. I am planning on sharing the items with fans who don’t have the opportunity to see him in person. Sharing the goodies is a way for us to share the experience. I love that poster so much I have had it framed.
Abrra
Marlie! A perfect description of what it’s like to meet David for the first time. Thing is, you can meet David many times, but it still feels like it’s the first time. It’s magical. It’s surreal to experience his aura first hand. There’s just something about him that’s so real, so special, so up-lifting.
What a great weekend it was! So many different people, from all walks of life, all ages & gender, with the one thing in common that brought us together…our admiration & love for David, The Voice.
I was so happy to finally meet you, djxox, happy, bebereader, dawn, abrra, Terry, and so many others. Yes, what a great weekend!
Oh yeah..David was wearing a t-shirt I gave him way back in Albuquerque, at the AC VIP.
And SB, TOfan, refnaf & I had an unexpected encounter with DAVID, Ray, Kendra & Mike at the security line in the Providence airport. Total shocker! But OH MY, how sweet it was!
The only downer was I got sick the night before I left AC. I never or hardly ever get sick, so with this flu thing going around, I was just a little worried..but I feel fine now. Thanks for the “feel better” wishes.
My sis, Theresa & I decided we HAVE to see HIM again together, so we got VIP’s for Kansas City. Just can’t help ourselves
See you all a little later!
BTW..has anyone noticed the “time” on the comments is still on Daylight Saving Time??
SF: I was so happy to meet you – we had a good time hanging out in line, didn’t we? Bebe and I were VIP virgins and you were on your umpty-umpth one. Dawn breezed in not nervous now (after so many VIPSs, David recognizes you both!) I am so glad you all were there with me – it made the day all that much sweeter.
Hope you are feeling better!
Testing this time change thingy. I guess you have to manually change the time on WordPress. Sheesh.
Ha – that ought to be interesting for the rest of the night. Time changed, and the posts will have time offsets from here BACK.
marlie, Dawn is cool as a cucumber with David. She says they are “buddies” now which has helped her act like an “adult” at the VIPs. Me? I still turn to mush at the sight of him and can never say what I really want to say. A grown woman old enough to be his Abuelita, and he makes me feel like a silly teenager inside. In Evansville last year, David & I actually “talked” & laughed as he went down the barricade and I had no problem speaking to him then. Things changed for me after my Atlanta encounter with David. Do Not Ask Me Why? I have no earthly idea why. I don’t understand it. I need lessons from Dawn.
How wonderful to read these recollections of the moments with David. DJxox told me it would be a blur afterwards and in NH she was right. I had met him once before but no exchange.. just a quick signature plus the Archugaze which I’ve never forgotten. In Manchester I was able to say a few words about Del Mar and he responded that it had been great fun for him too. In RI I wanted to thank him for introducing me to some specific music and musicians(Owl City in particular) and he lit up and we actually had an exchange. Some of it was about the cool line up for the Jingleball in NYC. He hoped I was going and that I’d have a lot of fun. He’s just so easy, so comfortable. You feel that you could sit and chat about anything at all. I stood and watched him greet everyone with the same sweet welcoming smile and genuine appreciation for all their comments and caring. There really is no one like him, and I haven’t even mentioned singing. I’m very excited about his writing efforts and his determination to tell his stories and make it personal. Just how much more personal can it get? I can’t wait til the Xmas concerts. He will have more surprises in store for all of us.
Just in case you all need another dose of David, I’ve posted In Praise of the Vulnerable Man by Angelica as a video in Short Takes.
We are starting a new series of Fan Videos, so if you have one I don’t know about and want to share it, let me know through the contact page or via email at marlie7@thedavidchronicles.com
Marlie,
I don’t post here much, but I just wanted you to know that your article moved me to tears, rivers of tears. I want to meet David so badly and the VIP tickets sold out so quickly for the concert I will be attending in December … it’s just so frustrating to miss it again. Your description is exactly what I’ve always thought it would be like to meet him. I am even more determined to score a VIP when he’s out touring with his 2nd CD. Thank you for sharing, it sure meant the world to me.
hugs to you!

Love Angelica’s Vulnerable Man video, but I love all her videos! “Fan Videos”…great idea! There are so many tribute videos and to be able to see them in one area sounds great.
BTW, Hope David is getting a flu shot, if he hasn’t already! He must take every precaution since he is in the high risk AGE group!
Good night all, and for David…
Dear lord,
Please take care of David.
Watch over him, protect him from all harm.
Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path.
Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give.
Surround David with loving and supportive people who love him unconditionally as we, his devoted Archangels do.
Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being.
Give him rest when he feels weary.
Give him stamina to sustain his hectic pace.
Give him assurance when he feels doubt.
Give him joy when he feels sad and never allow David to feel alone or lonely.
GIVE US THE WISDOM TO ALWAYS DO RIGHT BY DAVID.
OPEN OUR EYES AND HELP US IN THE WAY WE SUPPORT DAVID SO THAT IT’S ALWAYS IN HIS BEST INTERESTS.
Cloak him always in your protective arms during this time on his journey.
Keep David and and his voice healthy and strong as he fulfills his Destiny which was written in his Book of Life before he was born.
Though we may be unworthy Lord, we humbly pray. Amen
David, have a good restful night’s sleep with sweet & happy dreams. Thank you for all you do and for who you are. Keep with you all our love, support & prayers always.
Contigo siempre en la distancia!
How do I find Abraa’s concert review? I would like to read it. Thanks
Not David, but David related. The other David is coming to St. Pete! Concert just added. I just got my tickets. And as excited as I am to see Cook, WOW, the Script is an opener!! Remember BACK in the day, our David tweeted about this epic song?
Maybe this was not disabled… ( maybe David made it a song of
the day…at my age, the memory starts to go) And I won’t even go into the Kris Allen’s new song is actually the Script’s song.
I’ve been home sick the last 2 days, nothing serious, but of course, having nothing better to do, I squandered away my time in the studio. This video was inspired by a new dance move from My Hands, Providence. Our own djxox recorded and posted the performance on a previous thread and I described the move as the *Wide-leg stance with a side to side swivel/skating motion*
Liz said we needed a shorter description for that dance move so I posted these slightly altered lyrics, shortening the name to
The Archuleta
Everybody’s doin’ a brand-new dance, now
(Come on baby, do the Archuleta)
I know you’ll get to like it if you give it a chance now
(Come on baby, do the Archuleta)
My little baby sister can do it with me;
It’s easier than learning your A-B-C’s,
So come on, come on, do the Archuleta with me.
You gotta swing your hips, now. Come on, baby.
Jump up. Jump back. Well, now, I think you’ve got the knack.
Now that you can do it, let’s make a chain, now.
(Come on baby, do the Archuleta)
A chug-a chug-a motion like a railroad train, now.
(Come on baby, do the Archuleta)
Do it nice and easy, now, don’t lose control:
A little bit of rhythm and a lot of soul.
So come on, come on, do the Archuleta with me.
Move around the floor in a Archuleta.
(Come on baby, do the Archuleta)
Do it holding hands if you get the notion.
(Come on baby, do the Archuleta)
There’s never been a dance that’s so easy to do.
It even makes you happy when you’re feeling blue,
So come on, come on, do the Archuleta with me.
So here’s the video and to the actual remixed version of “The Locomotion.”
Angelica: Wow! LOVE it. Sorry your sick but thanks for the treat. Glad to see you were able to be productive.
Angelica: Good lord, woman, you are out to kill us all (you and David!) I’m not glad you are sick, but I’m really glad you were forced to recuperate this way
Fe: I so don’t feel good about making you cry. Where do you need the VIP tickets? By golly, we HAVE to be able to find you some.
marlie – good things DO come to those who wait! Loved your recap of Atlantic City with fellow TDC and your “first” time meeting David. Like so many others (myself included) your experience was caught up in his eyes. “I looked into his eyes and he looked into mine. Pure and open connection. He didn’t look away until they said it was time to take the picture. I’m surprised I could move into place. I was so totally mesmerized by those emerald green eyes that I cannot get them out of my mind.”
Four months later and I can still see his beautiful eyes……

Loved meeting up with everyone, and as you have seen, David was in FINE form..
SF, Nina and Angelica~ Hope your feeling better soon…
Dear Marlie – It was a pleasure reading your recollection of your recent AC adventures. Funny how one 18yo guy can cause people from all walks of life to come together and celebrate the simple yet deep joy that his music brings.
For sure, the TDC bonding moments heightened my wishful thinking – hehe, especially when it came to your own version of UFO. You know, that Unexplained Feelings of Overwhelm, after a close encounter with TheArchuleta
Yeah I also wish the UFO for all Archies.
YAY! for the series of Fan Videos

A quick hello!
Marlie, you made me cry this morning at work! Tears started to roll down my face, had to quickly grab a tissue and dab my eyes before someone saw me! What a lovely meeting with David.
Thank you to others too for sharing your stories. We love them!

Thanks guys, I had fun making the video. He is good medicine. Or is it “Bad Medicine.” Don’t get me started on a vid to that Bon Jove song. LOL! Thank you MsLemonade08 for taking such lovely videos!
LuLu I am going to both VIP’s in SLC. Are you going with Dorthy?
Hi Claudia!
Marlie I love the way you describe your meeting with David. The first time I was close to David was during his homecoming visit on American Idol. Didn’t get to meet him, but his car stopped right in front of me. He turned and looked at me and my friend. I just stood there in awe and then when his car drove away I walked onto the field and cried. So I can relate!
Angelica love, love, love your mgr!! Oh the moves that man makes
LOL Hi Geri.
Angelica, your vid has so many great elements I don’t even know where to begin. Awww, the moves, the head turn, the mic punishment, the stomp, the jump back, the touching hands, the smile, the eyes, the “swing your hips now” the lip lick, and the profile ending. You got it all and in perfect synchronization. Wow, just amazing. Or should I say David has it all. Thanks, you made my day
Abrra “Click David to zoom for inspection of beautifulness.”
Oh lordy, lordy, Miss Abrra, thanks for the tip.
Angelica, you’ve got some SERIOUS talent in these video productions. I’ll second what cb just said.
Those are some rockin’ moves you captured on the Locomotion MGR.
That boy is a sensual smokin’ soul machine!
Hey Liz and gang!!! Wonderful review/article marlie7…sounds familiar huh Liz
Hope to see some (tons) of you at the Christmas Concert in a few weeks! I think we’re in for a “real” treat!!!
I played a “prank” on a good friend last week and wanted to share it with you…I know I know…I need to grow up!!!
Happy Holidays!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXCFRgp-8fg
ps…I really really wanted to play this on someone I know around the corner and didn’t want to scare the kid to death…even though I did last Halloween
Go Big “D”…
OMGosh brettinmurray!! It is sooo great to see you pop up here at TDC! And what a prankster you are really!!
Liz and I (and a bunch of us!) are going to the San Francisco and Santa Rosa shows!!! I just can’t wait.
Go Big D!!
Better late than never:
Abrra and Marlie, Loved your re-caps. It seems, meeting that young man certainly makes our brain work overtime for some adjectives that fit. And even then, sometimes its just indescribable. Thank you.
Angelica–what are you trying to do to me? HUH! Glad I have my computer chair to dance with sitting down. Last time I tried to do a dance from my youth-The Twist- I had to go to the chiropractor. Haha Now you’re trying to put some new moves on me. It’s hard enough just trying to survive your calmer videos. Have some mercy!
Brett – You have some acting skills dude! I believed you and I was in on the gag. You seriously need to get David and tape it for us. We love seeing his reactions. Just nothing too scary, K?
LOLOLOL Brett. That is hilarious, you are really good. Lucky he didn’t put the karate moves on you and cause some injuries, you are a brave man.
Did you really do this to D last halloween? How did that go?
Thanks for sharing
MTV’s Jim Cantiello is at it again, promoting our David:
David Archuleta Writing ‘Fun Music’ For Next Album
“You can tell that it’s my story, and I like that,” ‘American Idol’ alum says of songs he’s writing for his second LP.
Landing in the “American Idol” finale gets you a lot of things: a new car, instant name recognition, the opportunity to work with the industry’s top producers and songwriters on your debut album. (If you’re Kris Allen, you also score a hideous, pointless trophy.)
What you don’t get, however, is time. Somehow in the midst of doing press for the show and going on a massive tour, you’re expected to put out a high-profile album in just a few exhausting months.
Season-seven runner-up David Archuleta survived the first year of post-”Idol” craziness, and while he’s pleased with how his debut self-titled 2008 album turned out, he’s making sure the music on his next pop album reflects more of who he is.
“I’m hoping that at least some of the songs I’ve written this time around will be able to make it on to the record,” Archuleta recently told MTV News. “I don’t think songs have to be like these super-#1-smash-hit-sounding songs…

Random personal news-
I believe I announced here earlier that I’m a new uncle?? Well, here’s a pic of my nephew, Benjamin Cruz-Cilibrasi, with my sister!
He almost didn’t make it, and had to be put in ICU for a couple days. This photo was taken when he was about 3 days old:

Unclehood here I come! lol
Oh my, Brett – that was hysterical! I’m so glad you stopped by and shared it. You are a man of infinite talents!

Go Big “B!”

{{{Ronald}}} You are going to make a fabulous uncle. Teach him well!
ronaldsf, how precious. Didn’t know your little new nephew was in danger of not making it. Thank you sharing your “random personal news”. Unclehood FTW!!
RONALDSF – Benjamin may be little but he is a fighter, just like his TITO
Congrats to you and your family.
… I can see it now, Tito Ronald teaching Benjie the archustrut, the archuleta locomotion, the archugaze… LOL plenty of episodes to video-tape!
In LA having a little din-din at Wolfgang Puck’s… One hour to showtime. Will David be here?? Singing? In the audience?? I hope something!! Will know shortly!!!
I wanted to share this enhanced remix of the song My Hands from David’s first CD. It was mixed by SonicEther.
Hear it on YouTube :
Mp3 download here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?joz0ujjgytf
I wish he had been there when they made the CD. He has a gift for blending David tracks.
Abrra
Too funny, JR!!
I remember that YouTube baby who stopped crying and was comforted listening to David sing “Imagine.”
I’m gonna do some Archuresearch and see if this works on little Benji!!
Angelica, WOW! You’ve given us much to enjoy! TY, keep ‘em comin’!
THANKS for sharing everyone!
Ronaldsf, Benjamin is a cutie! CONGRATS to you and your Family!
Milesd, Sending my best wishes that you will see David there…

Bye and Good Night
Ops!!
sorry for my bad english ,i don’t made any correction in my previous post…forgive me please!!! Bye!!!
Okay, my sweet ODD friends. Just needed to share this. I was working on a TDC article and was listening to music for company – some Elton John and others. Then I thought, I haven’t listened to Ave Maria in a while, so I put that on. I stopped working and I disappeared completely into that pure, clear voice, so full of light and love.
I should have known better lol! David’s voice is not background music.
My sis & I just completed our Kansas City flight & hotel reservations. We chose that venue because they still had VIP’s available and because we want to do our part to help David S/O all the venues & VIP’s…or so I told myself!
And besides, HE is so worth it!
Contigo siempre en la distancia!
gemzone01: Thank you – and the tears are just such a release aren’t they? How does that happen?
Brett: Thank you so much!
Ronaldsf: Awww, Uncle Ronald. How cool is that!
Tibi: Thank you – and I hope you get to see David soon, too! If you are in Canada, those Canadian women at SnowAngels are bound to get David up to Toronto – hang in there!
Liz: I think I remember you getting lost in Ave Maria just a couple of times before LOL
angelica#60 – what a fun video. Guess you can do it all. The serious with tender moments, as well as the upbeat dancy stuff. Thanks, love it!
abrra#80 – love SonicEther’s mixes, too. Agree on the “gift for blending” that could have been a valuable contribution in the studio. What he did with Think of Me, was amazing. Thanks for the download. Another for my collection…..
SF – have my second VIP in Baltimore. Didn’t think I’d do one again after the first but couldn’t pass on a possible accoustic performance or even soundcheck. Just know I won’t prepare a speech like last time. Will just follow Marlies lead. Keep it simple. Keep it simple. Keep it simple…..
Hey Ronald, congrats on the arrival of your adorable nephew!
Now it’s your job to SPOIL HIM ROTTEN!!
And of course to introduce him ASAP to the dulcet tones of one David Archuleta, which should help your sister get him back to sleep after those 3 a.m. feedings!
Angelica I just can’t get enough of your “Do the Archuleta” video!!! It’s the first thing I look at online in the morning to get my day going! Thank you so much!
Ronald, your nephew is beautiful! I’m so glad he is doing ok now. Congrats!
hi tdc … don’t know if you’re aware, but snowangel and david fan pastel’s husband passed away yesterday… there is a groupcard that has been created, for anyone wishing to leave her words of condolence or comfort…
E- card for Pastel:

Hi all: I will post the full review later but a local music critic that gave david a very bad review when he was here a few years ago for AI tour has has rated CFTH THIRD ON HIS TOP TEN OR NEW CHRISTMAS MUSIC. He gave the album a B+… The review is toungue in cheek starting out by saying Quick somebody punch me I must be going soft because….. At any rate he says “the kid absolutely nails such churchly standards as Joy to the World and Angels we have heard on high”
At any rate, even the hard core Sean Daly of the St. Pete Times has been thawed. ( sooner or later they all come around) ha ha!! ( have to run to work)
third on his top ten OF new christmas mucic that is, The review is kind of funny because he pokes fun at the picture. No I don’t like that but, the review is favorable in a snarkey way….
Rae, I can’t really argue with his poking fun at the album cover. It’s lame! And the only negative thing about this glorious album.
Zoe #91, I’ll do my best to spoil him!! I’m on a YouTube baby video fix right now (have any of you ever had one? babies are very addictive), and I found this gem of a video. It’s quite old, so I assume many of you have seen it before? Well anyway, even then it’s so precious it’s worth another look!
Talk about how David connects with something innate within us… now that is proof!! Now I need to burn my sister one of my DavidDVDs!!
Boo Hoo!! No David last night, singing or in the audience… But. What a show!! David Foster can put them together. Started out with the lead from Earth Wind and Fire, Michael Johns (looking a bit skinny but in great voice), Rueben Studdard (his voice literally filled the huge amphitheater …amazing), Debbie Cox from Canada, a surprise visit by Brian McKnight (yes!!) and Paul Anka, the Canadian Tenors (buying their CD today!) Debbie Cox (also from Canada), Peter Cetera (from the band Chicago), and a young man from Canada whose name escapes me (Tony? Koby? not sure) but his voice did not. Eighteen years old and a magnificent voice. Canadians help me out here…
And then Chariss… Can I say two words about her?? Cha riss!!! Girl can sang!!! She made Whitney look like a Star Search contestant. All I can say is if you have a chance to hear her live somewhere (and from the looks of it she will be HUGE) go and see her. She brought that amphitheater down!! Would love to hear David do a really big number with her. I may be missing someone else since the show was about two and one half hours long…
Well, no David but he did keep me company on way home from LA. There is always the American Music Awards on the 22nd. I know it’s right before his opening shows in Salt Lake but he does bounce around the country! Anyway my sure thing is right after Thanksgiving in the Bay area and then Anaheim… sigh…
Cobgratulations, Uncle Ronald, that is one cute nephew you got there. I love that video of the baby listening to David sing LMT. I included it in a tribute video I made a while back. Won’t post the mediafire link cause I don’t want to get into trouble with Marlie. She has created the tribute video thread and I don’t want to scoop her hard work.
BTW, did you guys send Pastel some love on that card ggdoorsfan #94 posted?
I meant Congratulations, Ronald.
Angelica: Haha – thank you! Yes, a new fan video coming tomorrow! So stay tuned. Do you know how many I have to post? These will keep us happy until the Christmas concerts start.
marlie–what a great article! I’ve been without a computer for an entire week, so I’ve got a lot of catching up to do. I’ve got 18 days to see David in SLC and 19 days to VIP!! I’m so nervous I find myself having to breathe deep quite often thru the day.
Abrra–I’ve got to get to your article next! I’m going ‘back in time’.
BTW–somebody should have told me that putting a new operating system on your PC means starting over with everything. I.am.so. confused. and. frustrated. I shall overcome this and it too shall pass and David will be back in my system (hey I had them add more ram–that should be worth the wait right?).
tawna21 . November 6, 2009 at 1:34 pm .
I am so tickled that you will get to concerts soon! Will you report back to us here? Everyone’s recap is treasured.
A fresh start is good, especially when you had such problems with your PC. Take the time to understand the what and why of each thing that you put on your hard drive. It’s a learning opportunity.
Abrra
David’s latest tweet….this should help us all….is he for real?
@DavidArchie:The happiest people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have.
Thanks Abrra. I just read your post about your experiences last week. Now I’m even more anxious for ‘my time’. I thought I was really under control (I kinda had to be with no computer available) but now that I’m back in David’s world I can’t be anymore. When I picked up my computer yesterday, my daughter, who is visiting for a few days, patted it and said “Mom, do you feel better now that you have David home?”. I laughed out loud, but inside I was thinking “honey, you have no idea what it means to ‘have David home.” She has me pegged, but she does love David’s CFTH.
tawna21 . November 6, 2009 at 2:05 pm .
How did reading that make it worse? He was so calm. It was just a great experience.
Abrra
djafan . November 6, 2009 at 1:52 pm .
Don’t be fooled dja, he must have been eating Chinese!
Abrra
Abrra…You’re to funneee! Busting my bubble….lol
Abrra #108 bwahahahhaha – it does sound like that now that you mention it.
It was so OBVIOUS!
David is deeper than any fortune cookie.
Abrra
tawna21… “I laughed out loud, but inside I was thinking “honey, you have no idea what it means to ‘have David home.”
LOL…That is so sweet and yeah you get him alright! Nice to see you here again and keep in touch.
SB
TAWNA21…See you in SLC! Are you going to both? I will be there on the 24th with VIP. A bit of a dream for me to be there when he steps on stage and sings his first song of the new tour. If the epidemic is going strong and it is gaining strenght here, I may cancel though.
SB
Master,
You wrong the Chosen One with your words. Long have I lived my life by the wisdom gleaned from fortune cookies. He is not as of us, nor does he understand the ways of the lowly grasshopper.
I for instance, always add the words, “in the bed” to every fortune cookie I read. (it greatly amuses me)
He would never do this. No.
mikesd…#99
It sounded wonderful and so Canadian, but something was missing perhaps? AH yes, David!
Have a warm cosy, in front of the fire Friday night…It so so miserable here with rain/snow!
SB (a Canuck) from CA NA(NAAAA) DA…as the Indians used to call it!
Congratulations Ronald on becoming an uncle – your little nephew is adorable!
gg #94 – thanks for posting that link
DavidArchie
Bah! Those stinkin’ little brain farts! No fun to have while writing a song haha.
about 1 hour ago from web
LMAO!! This kid kills me!
Grasshopper
Do you not see the value in my words?
“David is deeper than any fortune cookie.”
His wisdom is greater than the mundane cookie crumbs in your bed.
Master
mikesd: Dang it! But it sounds like a fabulous evening nonetheless!
That last tweet is a killer!! ROFL!
Kind of a relief…I was beginning to think David was of another realm. Lo and behold, he really is just a normal teenager!
)
Is anyone else a bit surprised at his use of the word: “f***?” This is a word that would make my students giggle uncontrollably.
Tawney21… hear you with the nerves. Amazing how like each time I have been able to see/hear David, it felt like the most important thing ever. For Allburq concert, I was CONVINCED I would oversleep, miss a connection, the plane would crash etc etc etc. In Tampa for the vip, the weather and traffic was horrible and I was practically hysterical that I would be late, have a wreck, be stuck in a snow storm ( oops wrong city,,, that was the snarkeys in Chicago). When I went to Orlando, hours before the show, I totally missed my turn to the hotel, due to nerves, driving 30 minutes into town looking at the mapquest directions to the venue instead of the hotel.
AHHHH!! I have no advice, except to remember to breathe, alot too much time, and say a prayer for nerves.
sorry…tanwa21- messed with your name.
Yes Liz, I was surprised. I laughed out loud that he used that phrase. He may be getting “loose/silly” like you do when you put in long hours on a project. (song writing)
Master
“His wisdom is greater than the mundane cookie crumbs in your bed.”
I do see the value of your words but do you not respect the wisdom of his cookie? I myself have partaken of the crumbs at his table and they are not to be farted at.
Bwahahahahahaha!!
Grasshopper
SB #113—I can’t wait to see you in SLC! My husband is going with me both nights, but our VIP is on Weds. We will definitely have to meet up on Tues. Is your husband coming w/you?
davidfanliz…brain fart? Surprised he uses it, heck no. In my part of the country everyone says it, including myself. Surprised he tweeted it, a little, just because he is so very, very cautious about anything that might even hint at what could be considered by someone an impropriety.
I love seeing him loosen up a bit and just be a regular person like everyone else. Some of the standards some fans attach to him are ridiculous and impossible to live up to.
Abrra and Angelica: Oh, my god you guys are hysterical!
There may be many along with myself, who are not familiar with the term “brain fart”…so here goes with the explanation.
A brain fart (jocularly derived from “brainstorm”) is slang for a special kind of abnormal brain activity which results in human error while performing a repetitive task, or more generally denoting a degree of mental laxity or any task-related forgetfulness, such as forgetting how to hold a fork. Tom Eichele, a neuroscientist at the University of Bergen in Norway, was part of an international team of researchers who identified evidence that the brain fart is detectable in brain scans up to 30 seconds before the mistake is actually made. The researchers suspect the abnormal behavior is the result of the brain attempting to save effort on a task by entering a more restful state. The scientists detailed their findings on 21 April 2008 online in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The scientific term they gave the phenomenon is “maladaptive brain activity change.”
The term is typically employed in the United States to indicate a regrettable and poorly thought out choice of action. According to vaunted Philadelphia Flyers defenceman and amateur linguist Denis Gauthier—whose seminal association with the phenomenon has earned him the honorific sobriquet “Mr. Brainfart”—a brainfart occurs when one “momentarily loses his sense of logic…and does something ‘dumb’.
A further clarification comes from investigative journalist Louie Pierson, who proffers that while accidents are preventable, “brain farts are unpredictable, unpreventable and universal”, and advances the theory that Mother Nature had “added the unfathomable minor irritant of the brain fart as a failsafe backup.
So there you go…some of us have learned something new today, no matter how insignificant it may be.
SB
SB: Too funny – and yes, we have learned something new today!
To all: I’m looking for the best video of David singing the Medley on his Solo Tour. Who can lead me to the ultimate version? (Abbra? Angelica? Vee? JR? Anyone?)
David didn’t give us a blog or Vlog yet this week. He may have been too busy or he may have had a…..”brain-fart” and just forgot!
But the week isn’t over yet.
SB, thanks for the explanation of a “Brain Fart”. I get ‘em all the time, but I always thought it was just “old age”.
Hope everyone is in good health.
Good night all, and for David…

I will put it up in the morning! I have to decide. What will you do with it?
Abrra
OK that was easy.
Abrra
Abrra: Perfect! Thank you! I’m working on a project
For all of you Canadians… Cody Karey is the young man who performed last night in LA. Amazing voice and presence!
I was THERE at Idaho Falls, leaning on the stage right in front of the keyboard when he sang that medley. I could have reached out and put my hand on his sneaks. (Somehow, I refrained.) Woh. It was unbelievable! And, a couple of days later, I was at the front of the mosh pit in Boise! I’ll probably never get that lucky again, but to say it was wonderful is an understatement.
Idaho Falls medley was pristine and lovely, yes. I agree. But Beaumont, my show, was umm…oh bother, those stinkin brain farts! I was gonna say something but, heh, never mind.
Angelica: Oooh, another nice one, but it’s missing I’m Yours! Hmmm, very hot, too. Was that what you were going to say? LOL
Ronald: Congratulations on becoming an uncle! Lots of good times ahead for you and your nephew. He’s a cutie-pie!
Abs: Please forgive my tardy reply to your delightful recap on the previous thread. Between the two of us, all three shows were covered, you at Manchester and Providence and I was at Atlantic City. Unfortunately our paths didn’t cross this time and we didn’t meet up.
It’s very clear from your recap that the tone was the same at all three shows. Meeting friends from David’s fansites was a lovefest. It was very gratifying to finally match the faces to the names after spending hours online together. Westbury is for us, Abrra! And I can’t wait!
Marlie, doh. Oh yeah, that was what I was gonna say. It was really hot in that Scout Bar that night. Could you tell? No I’m Yours? I never even noticed. LOL.
Hey…one more video to watch. I don’t know why I haven’t shown this to you before…my mother had Alzheimer’s for 18 years and my dad took care of her the entire time…he is my hero!!! I felt impressed to call the local news station to do their story…my mother passed away a few months later. My mother forgot who I was and eventually couldn’t speak, but never lost her alto singing…amazing what music can do…of course you all know that
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-0GV77PJQo
ps…thanx to you guys so much for your support of crush ms…you guys are absolutely amazing!!!
OMG Angelica #136 that was so lovely! Wow, he is so GORGEOUS!!
Brett,
I don’t comment very much any more, but I peaked in to see what was going on with David, and at TDC. I’m so glad I did. What a beautiful love story you shared with us. And evn with the heartbreak of your Mom not recognizing you, just seeing the love between your parents must have made it easier to bare. There is a special place in Heaven for all who take on the care of a loved one who is unable to care for themselves. A truly inspiring love story. I can see where you get your strength. Thank you for sharing.
Hope you are doing well. God bless.
Brett,
Thank you for sharing that touching video of your mom and dad dealing with a tragic disease. As a nurse, I used to worked for many years with Alzheimer patients, and though rewarding, it was very sad. It breaks your heart to watch them slowly decline and see the toll it takes on the families.
What a beautiful example of what life and true love are all about.
God bless you and your lovely family.
It’s been crazeh in these parts lately and I’ve hardly had time to check out TDC. I read Abrra’s and Marlie’s articles and just wanted to say thank you for sharing your experiences! It gets me emotionally prepared for my own close encounter with The Archuleta – and I want every moment not to be wasted!
Abrra, I really liked your observation that love is a two-way street with David. I think our own devotion is what he draws from all the time, and keeps him grounded and the way he is. His blogs and tweets are his attempt to keep us posted and to send the love back.
Marlie, I don’t know if I’ve had very memorable experiences with David lol. The first time was during the Detroit Meet & Greet, and all I could think to myself was how awful tired he was, but still extremely polite and gracious in accepting compliments. Then the 2nd time was my random bumping into him at the airport, which folks here have already read about lol.
Reading about the reunions, though, gets me excited about having a TDC meetup in San Francisco! And I’ll have a VIP ticket – yay! I’m very curious to see if he’ll recognize my screenname from TDC… Anyway, I’ll see you guys there!
Brett, I still haven’t had a chance to see your videos, but I definitely will. Thank you for visiting us!
And thank you everyone for the congratulations for my nephew. But I’m not the one who deserves it – tell that to my sister, who went into labor 30 hours and went natural! Oh em gee!
Okay now… if you thought the last pic I posted of little Benji was adorable, get ready for a Cuteness Overload Moment. I dare anyone to see this picture without saying “Awwww!”

ArchuBaby fan!!
Abrra
Brett: Thank you for sharing that story. It is a true testament to love and devotion.
Ronaldsf: That little baby is adorable! Yes, I did saw Awwww when I opened that picture. Now you just have to start playing some David music for him and make him into a fan
ronaldsf, what a little cutie, your little baby nephew.
David’s all done with his latest writing session, and may be on his way home or he may already be there. Also, Mike Krompass will NOT be with David on this tour. Now I’m wondering if Dave & Jerry will be with him as they were hired with Mike’s recommendation. But actually, I will be just as happy to see David with or w/o a full band. The Voice is all the instrument needed. His performances with just him & his keyboard have been some of his best. I pay to see & hear David The Voice, not David & Band.
Good night all, and for David…

Cloak him always in your protective arms during this time on his journey.
Keep David and and his voice healthy and strong as he fulfills his Destiny which was written in his Book of Life before he was born.
Though we may be unworthy Lord, we humbly pray. Amen
David, have a good restful night’s sleep with sweet & happy dreams. Thank you for all you do and for who you are. Keep with you all our love, support & prayers always.
Contigo siempre en la distancia!
Brett, thank you for sharing your parents’ story with us. Your father is a hero indeed and they were both blessed with “true love.”
I will continue to support Crush MS. Until recently no one in my family or circle of friends suffered from MS but last month my husband’s sister was diagnosed with it.
You’ve been in my thoughts lately for some reason so it’s really great to see you drop in at TDC and looking well! Thank you.
Ronald, the Awwwww is automatic!! What a cutie, just like his uncle!
SF, thanks for the Mike info. I was just wondering about that, whether the band members would be the same for David’s upcoming tour.

“But actually, I will be just as happy to see David with or w/o a full band. The Voice is all the instrument needed. His performances with just him & his keyboard have been some of his best. I pay to see & hear David The Voice, not David & Band.”
True dat.
Is it possible that the world has stopped? Is everyone gone to bed all day or maybe never returned home from work? Perhaps the power is out except for the Atlantic coast?
Can this really be the first post of November 9?
No one on Chat Channel!!? If anything this is a post for November 9, 2009…We just can’t go a day without one post!
Hey prayer lady, you must be out there!
