rethinking the best live performance, but since I wasn’t there I can only take it on verbal review & recollection that the acoustic Louisville was the pinnacle. anyone?
so much stuff hard to pick a favorite vlog. Was the one where he said mirror mirror on the wall this year? And the one when he knocked off Benton’s keyboard was good also. Love the hush cats tweet. David keeps us entertained, without even trying
Raelovingangels, yes the Mirror Mirror vlog is from this year
I believe it was around the time he did his UK Tour.

Never saw the “hush cats” tweet before! LOL
He’s had so many memorable tweets that it’s hard to pick one! Here’s one I’m thinking of simply because it’s recent:
“Oh man! Hello giant bowl of guacamole. I think I love you.”
!!
JR, I love your idea! I’m going to change the categories now…
Ronald: I think you were deep into studying during the Hush Cats hilarity.
Yeah I guess so :p
Have people seen this article? It’s really good, with some great quotes from David and it talks about the fans too:
http://www.parade.com/celebrity/2009/12/david-archuleta.html
RONALD -- glad you like it. I already have a particular nomination for the insightful type. But the spacey, adorakble, funny type? Too many to choose from, lol.
In another vein, DA IS NOW WITH VEVO!
Remember the complaint about David’s vids disappearing from his official YT channel, esp those with high traffic/views? Well, just saw an email alert about the good news: They are all now in VEVO with the views intact
What exactly is VEVO?
“VEVO is a premium music video and entertainment experience created by Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment in partnership with Google/YouTube. This collaboration amongst industry leaders will create a new experience around music videos, music programming, and video technologies. VEVO will be a global provider and distributor of professionally produced music videos, concerts, original web series, artist-generated videos, and curated user-generated videos.
VEVO was conceived and is being built by a dedicated team that loves music and technology and believes in the internet’s power to continually improve experiences for fans. Connecting artists with fans and delivering value to content owners and brand partners are integral parts of the VEVO mission.”
Check it here: http://www.vevo.com/
This development will be more interesting if Twitter becomes part of the equation. Two major industry players are rumored to be courting Twitter. As a marketer, am excited at the breath and depth of data and demographics that can be generated from Twitter. Am getting shaky just thinking about it!
Team Archie could use some help with gifting:
From their twitters:
In need of sponsors 4 gifting program, it would be greatly appreciated:) http://n2.nabble.com/Sponsorship-Program-tp3970422p3970422.html
I’m still working on the full list, but I submit Fields of Gold for Best Cover, and Ave Maria for Best Xmas Song.
Also, just wanted to share that it is dang cold here in Northern California. I scraped frost off my windshield yesterday. (I know this is routine for most of the country, but exceedingly rare here lol!)
Safe journeys to all who are traveling for shows in the next few days.
Best Vlog: Mirror, mirror on the wall.
Hi all
I was just watching the NBC nightly news and a segment on Christmas music. They showed David’s cd and gave him a sentence! The jist of the segment was how varied Christmas music can be,,, finished off with a clip of Bob Dylan’s album. OOO my,, you must be a big fan to buy that one! David was mentioned with Bocelli, Barry Manilo and Bing,, pretty good company!
David’s interview with CARA of 101.9fm Chicago -- WTMX for his Wauskegan concert -- http://www.wtmx.com/cara.php
Good interview, questions not boring and David was so talkative. Cara laughed when he talked about how fresh his UK experience was while describing himself as that dorky, nerdy kid from Utah.
Download its mp3 here:
http://media.libsyn.com/media/caracarriveau/David_Archuletta.mp3
Also, in case this has not been posted, Dean Kaelin’s latest interview with the Snarkies (talking about who else?)
There is an awwwwwww moment there somewhere, listen and catch it!

Liking the promo list too.
Wow JR…thanks for the roundup of events. I didn’t know the Regis & Kelly appearance…we do need updates at this rate!

Oh David…where next?
SB
David get’s a little tongue-tied when asked about Lambert’s AMA performance. I like how he turns the question back on the interviewer. I guess when you come off of Idol, you’re expected to speak to all things AI.
http://blogs.mcall.com/lehighvalleymusic/2009/12/what-david-archuleta-thinks-of-adam-lamberts-performance.html
Hello TDC. I am aware that most of you prefer I not post here anymore, but I have a few things to say and no one to say them to. I was at the concert in Kansas City on Tuesday. I drove by myself from Tulsa Tues. morning after I got off work. I almost did not go due to the impending snow storm, but finally got on the road at 10am. I arrived at the Midland @ 3:30pm -- just in time for VIP. This was my first VIP and I am so very glad I went. I met some really nice people and was front row for VIP and the concert! David was like 4-5 feet from me! He has changed so much physically. He is very lean and muscular and his face has matured and now has a more chiseled appearance. He is quite handsome! A few things stood out for me during my experience:
1. Yes, David is still nerdy and awkward during VIP and small-talk situations -- but, there is now a confidence behind that awkwardness that I cannot quite explain. I definitely felt it though.
2. He may be small in stature, as we all are aware, but I am simply amazed at THE VOICE that emerges from that small body. He was absolutely flawless w/his vocals that night in my opinion.
3. Right before David’s set it began to snow big, beautiful flakes. It was just so effin’ perfect!! Downtown KC is beautiful, by the way. (my first time there).
4. While David was performing, I found myself thinking of his AI days and I just cannot believe this is the same person. He has grown so very, very much in these 2 yrs!
5. No matter how shy he acts….David loves the camera. This is my feeling. Gengen was front row w/her awesome camera and David was well aware of it. He now flirts in his own discreet way. He knows he is great. Finally!!!
6. I had no idea I could love him more.
7. I do.
Thanks for listening. Sorry so long.
jello, i enjoyed your review! while i didn’t attend a vip, i did see david perform in anaheim. i agree, he has really matured and he knows how to work the camera’s.
btw, i like your avatar. may i ask, who is it?
jello: You are always welcome to post here.
“David loves the camera” -- heh heh, and the camera loves David!
#6 and #7 -- me, too!
It sounds like you had a wonderful time at the VIP. What did you say to him when you met him?
Hey Jello, Always love to read yous post!! “I have a few things to say and no one to say them to.” That’s why I post too… Being a middle-aged David Archuleta fan can be lonely sometimes. Say more, please, I am all ears!
Thanks for the review jello…I did notice in a picture the other day that his chin has that chiseled look…so fine.
Hey, gengen has magic that gets her to the front row, or is it that we so need her pictures? The in-house photographer!
This is not meant for you jello at all, because I have said the same things as have many readers and journalists and this is the opportunity to respond to what many of us have written before you…
Let us not gauge that short needs to be even mentioned about David, as if taller has anything positive to add to the world. Maybe that is why David is shorter than the 6 ft so that we can learn another lesson in life…We often have topics about how much he has grown and changed which of course goes with the territory of his age and hardly needs mentioning, but we still do. We need to grow and change because we look for flaws even when he has near perfections, therefore we are too critical which is our big flaw…If David ever falls short of a perfect note, then we could think about the fact that he is giving so much of himself vocally and physically and perhaps too much has been asked of him.
David is not ackward as has been noted many times by us and journalists, but this is his given personality and we profit from it. David’s shyness is wonderful and in this “ME” generation, it is so refreshing. We are just assuming that he should possess certain characteristics and when he falls short we make note of it. There are other ways to be but we love his ways. Therefore, perhaps we have tunnel vision at times and that is a terrible flaw.
SB
SB: I don’t think most of us feel that David’s quirks and personal style are faults or fall short of an expectation. And you are right that they are often refreshing. But we also ought not hold him to a standard so high that a mere human cannot uphold them (yes, in spite of our thoughts to the contrary, he is human.)
It is an interesting phenomenon of this fan community that recognizing David’s human traits is often seen as criticism. If I said, “Geez, that shirt needs to be ironed”, I suspect 10 people would jump down my throat and tell me that is the style and that David is a trend-setter. He may be a trend-setter in a lot of respects, but the shirt still needs to be ironed.
David’s voice sometimes wobbles, and he doesn’t ALWAYS hit the note perfectly. He has nights when his delivery is better than others. Does this make him a poor performer? Oh, my gosh, no! But it makes him human. His voice is so overused some weeks I wonder how he can sing at all. But to mention it here on the fansite, well, I am waiting for the tomatoes
Let’s not make David HAVE to be perfect. I absolutely adore him even when his voice wobbles, his shirt is not ironed and he has a less than perfect performance. Perfection is not required, is it? We hold him to a certain standard and then won’t even mention it when he has a raspy night, or is awkward (even though still adorable) in an interview.
Why is that? Do we think that it is disrespectful? Or do we think that it somehow means we love him any less? I don’t know, but it is a phenomena in the fan community to make an icon out of David and not even allow that he does indeed make mistakes, have bad days, and have room to grow.
marlie #41…”I don’t know, but it is a phenomena in the fan community to make an icon out of David and not even allow that he does indeed make mistakes, have bad days, and have room to grow.”
So very true, but sometimes, the faults mentioned seem to overpower the good points in a writing to the degree that I wonder why they are being mentioned at all? It seems that we have greater expectations for our icons then we have for ourselves obviously but why? Icons give to us their talents, then we leave them little room to be less then perfect in every walk of their lives….Just an observation of our human follies.
SB
Sorry that is “follys”…when speaking about lack of understanding
SB
SB: “Icons give to us their talents, then we leave them little room to be less then perfect in every walk of their lives….”
Exactly! David is as near perfection as a human can get most of the time, but he does have his foibles. So what? And we should be able to acknowledge them without a big deal. I think when we don’t talk about them in the general conversation, THEN they become BIG when we do.
There’s not a thing I can think of that is more interesting than the quirks that people have…my friends, my associates, and my icons.
That is what makes David so dang interesting. He has THE VOICE, and that’s pretty close to perfect, but the things that are fun are his tweets, his awkward moments, the unique qualities he brings to the stage and to his everyday life (what we see of it).
To ignore them (not make them big and negative) is to deny those very qualities that make David “David”.

Vee: Most Archudorkable Moment-with Rick Springfield-”your Mum’s is hawt”
I forgot all about this moment -- priceless!
desertrat#37: My avatar is “Astroboy” -- a 1960′s japanese animation cartoon that I was obsessed with as a youngster. Yes, I am in the process of reverting back to my childhood. (I thought that happened later in life???!!!)
Marlie#38: I chose not to have my pic taken w/David; therefore I did not speak with him.
SB#40: WHOA…..yowza…..I am not and will never be THAT deep. (could of sworn you all knew that!). Maybe b/c I am a nurse I “assess” people since that is a BIG part of what we do??????
I could give a rat’s a** how tall David is actually. I love him and his persona unconditionally. However, I am sure his height is below average on the male scale. Just the facts. Nothing to get upset about. Can’t change it.
Maybe I should just sum up my experience in a much simpler fashion?
He was great.
Everything was great.
It was not perfect, nothing truly is.
It was perfect for ME.
I loved MY experience in KC and will treasure it forever in my heart.
No one can take that from me.
jello: “I could give a rat’s a** how tall David is actually. I love him and his persona unconditionally. However, I am sure his height is below average on the male scale. Just the facts. Nothing to get upset about. Can’t change it.”
Haha…yes, David is about an inch shorter than I am. But it had no impact on the fact that those intense green eyes looked right into mine and it is a moment I will never forget.
I think we all have very personal experiences at our VIP’s. Each seems to be unique and so very personal. Amazing how that works!
Actually 5′ 7″ (David’s height) is average for hispanic males.
http://www.halls.md/on/men-height-h.htm
barbs#49: Aaaaaahhhhhh! You guys are driving me crazy!!!
So sorry I commented about his height.
You are making me want to pull my hair out.
Better yet….you are driving me to drink.
Hmmmmm…not a bad idea on a Friday night!
Ok -- stop right now. Stop picking apart every one of my written word!!
lol.
What’s all this talk about David’s height? lol David is wunderbar by any measure!

Ronald: Ummm…a made an insignificant comment during my seemingly innocent flailing recap of my concert. Big (umm…tall?) mistake.
Carry on.
(I now think of singing, “Carry on my wayward son…..)
See what David does to a person???
jello: Not your fault! LOL That’s what happens -- people home in on one teeny tiny thing and BAM! Controversy!
Ronald, could I suggest David’s appearance with REO Speedwagon for “Live Performance-Rocking the House” His time on stage was short but…he was jamming that night.
It would take me forever with dial-up to review videos and come up with my own list so I amy just mention some thoughts as they come to me on this. Maybe I should keep a journal and write stuff down. Hhmm is that some Pearl of Archuwisdom?
skiffrower: REO! Good thought -- wow there are a lot of great moments this past year.
Had to put my thinking cap on for this fun exercise!

But I think that’s what makes us grow. That’s what makes us learn in our lives. So when we get to that end of the path we have all those bruises and cuts and you can see that we had a difficult time getting to where we were; but at the same time, you can say, you know what, this is proof that I went and I took that path, and this is proof that I did all I could and that I was willing to take that path even if it wasn’t the easiest path to take.”
Funniest Archuquote (non-Tweet) -- “I certainly don’t see myself as perfect,” he says. “I have my faults. There are plenty of them. I take longer to do things than most people. I forget things a lot. I’m clumsy. I spill my lunch….”
Tweet of the Year -- Hush cats!
JR’s post 30 is so wonderfully organized that I will follow her lead w/a few updates. Ronaldsf, would u consider extending the nominations thru the end of the year given the recent schedule updates?

jello#36 -- thanks for your concert recap -- it felt so personal & I truly appreciate your sharing the experience. At times you may feel like TDC is unwelcoming but speaking for myself (and I realize I am small potatoes, here). Please know that it was an enjoyable read.
Jello#36
To respond as another member of the “small potatoes” group,(thanks fda48!), I appreciate you sharing. I especially enjoyed #6 and #7 of your recap.
This tour has my heart swellin’ with love too. Our David is showing strength and comfortability on the stage. This has me diggin’ him even more.
What a ride…
Hey guys -- there are no “small potatoes” here. We love you all!
Awwww {{hugs}} LIZ, “small potatoes” in a most endearing way…it’s pretty comforable there, and totally OK.
aaawwwwhhh -- the “small potatoes group” -- a subset of TDC --
I kinda like that.
Thank you my fellow small spuds.
Oh JELLO -- you thoroughly amuse me. I have always wondered when you will pop out -- I have missed you! Thanks for the recap

Best Pearl of Archuwisdom (quotation)

Funniest Archuquote (non-Tweet)
TBD too -- he is so funny naturally!
Watching HYAMLC duet with his aunt Char, I was reduced to tears crying all the way to the end. It really made me feel the poignancy of what family means to him especially considering the personal family situation he is in right now. I had to search back the story of his paternal grandmother, Claudia Archuleta, posted on Archuletfanscene, to confirm that aunt Char (Charlyn) is one of his two aunts from his dad’s side. I didn’t want to assume though she doesn’t look like any of Lupe’s sisters!
I am so touched by his including both sides of his family and sharing so much with us fans. What a tour this continues to be! I do declare: I love David James Archuleta!!!
A HUGE thank you to JR #64 . I was always here, just sulking in my exoneration. I guess I got kinda lonely -- especially after my VIP KC experience and no one to share it with. So….I decided to take a chance and post…what’s the worst that could have happened…..that hasn’t already??
Haha.
I just realized yesterday that alot of the TDCers are over at THE VOICE….they are probably praying I don’t show up there…lol.
I saw SF at the KC VIP -- almost introduced myself, but quickly gained hold of my senses. Much better to be incognito…..however, if I would have then perhaps at least ONE TDCer could see that I actually am a nice, shy person who is an ardent David fan!
ronald, talk about a tough assignment, getting through that homework is killer!
He seems to be performing with more and more abandon…just love watching him and his un-cocooning, so to speak.
One more --
…can’t believe the change just from summer tour on these performances. Actually a little more subtle, but more mature.
He looks so comfortable in his own skin, no more tugging at clothes, etc.
Thanks for the videos JR!
good evening tdc!

jello, I like your avi. I too grew up with Astroboy but in Japan and he is called something else there lol!
I’m in NJ at my hotel waiting patiently for tomorrow’s concert in Montclair. But I found this excellent interview writeup and wanted to share it. David is getting so good at this…
http://www.californiachronicle.com/articles/yb/138811047
WFY up ALTNOY uploading! He was amazing!!!!!!!!!!
DJB and I are looking forward to seeing many of you at the Montclair show. She scored a better seat than I but what difference does it make if I’m there. Also bringing a friend who’s NEVER seen David and is probably sick to death of me interjecting his name into every conversation, but I predict a new fan by night’s end. See ya soon!!
emily_luvs_archie, you are the best!! Can’t wait for more!!!
I’m trying to upload in order tonight. Crush going now! Internet is being good tonight!
emmigirl- just saw Cleveland WFY and MH and can now see the subtle mature changes you were commenting on. Lordy, lordy, those shoulders and hands were talking tooonite. Everybody strap on those seatbelts, there is a surge to another level right about now.
emily- you deserve the ninja stealth speed award of the year. Thank you so much.
Sorry for posting late… had a reunion last night.

Just a quick post from Utah.
My husband and I went to the Kurt Bestor Christmas concert this afternoon (it’s still Sat. in Utah) and had a great time. Kurt is very, very talented and puts on a super show. I just can’t even explain how good he is. He talked about how he had performed here (it was at Abravanel Hall) a couple of weeks ago with a very talented, young artist from right here in Utah, David Archuleta (a few screams from the crowd). He said that David was great to work with. Anyway, just thought you all might like to know this little tidbit.
Off to bed now--it’s almost Sunday.
tawna21, thank you sharing the “little tidbit”! Love to hear any mention of David anywhere.
JR, do not apologize for being late. Thank you for your tireless work setting up all the pages for all the convert videos to make it so easy for us to revisit all our favorite shows and performances!
I mean “concert” videos!
If you watch the vids in order, I have all the banter between songs too
Ram…hahaha
Vermeer…thanks
Emily -- you are amazing. Thank you so much for taking the videos and sharing them with us so quickly!
Marlie, you’re welcome. Silent Night is almost done, that leaves Feliz Navidad and Oh Holy Night and there finished!
Oops *their*
Thank you to the amazing emily & waitingforyesterdayx, the CLEVELAND TOUR PAGE is now complete!

ENJOY guys!
River, Marlie, DJB, I am leaving for the airport at 6am to fly to Newark for Montclair tonight. The day is finally here! I am so thrilled. Have a good one, and maybe I’ll see you tonight! My sister in law, a non fan but very excited nonetheless will be joining me and we have VIP tickets!
vermeer#72!!!! …..Astroboy was created in Japan by Osamu Tezuka and was known as “Tetsuwan Atomu” or “Mighty Atom”. Does that ring a distant bell???
I use the term ‘distant’ very loosely…..lol.
I used to “pretend play” Astroboy as a child.
I was also very fond of Gigantor and Kimba the White Lion -- was and still am a fan of Japanese Anime.
Sorry everyone for continuing to go off topic.
JEN A -- good for you! Have a great time and hope to hear from you soon about your archuexperience. Savor every moment
I know this really doesn’t fit any category, but it is one of my fav moments in 2009
Happy Sunday to everyone! I am going to Montclair VIP. Hope to see everyone there!
awestruck: Perhaps we need to add a category for Best Guest Appearance at a Performance
marlie7 -- Homework overload people will cry out!
BTW you were bang on with your comment at #41
Hi Astrid -- I don’t know if we met before, (perhaps Sayreville, last March -- I was there with my daughter), I will be at the Montclair VIP -- I’ll be there alone, and I’d love to say hi!!
Astrid, Jen A and everyone: Have a fantastic time and bring back details please. Awstruck- that was an epic appearance. He really took that song to church (as HG would say). Also thanks Emily for your amazing videos. The sound is just fantastic. I think that Cleveland FOG may have been the best yet. Wow.
Nina- cute doggie! Have a wonderful time.
THX Rae -- that’s my Sami, the best dog ever, (I guess everyone feels that way about their animals).
I’m so excited for the VIP -- it’s my first, (VIP, that is). Looking forward to seeing all David bloggers and lurkers, both new and old.
I have been so busy with computer issues and working on the Christmas cd, but finally its done!
I have made a Christmas Tour Live Cd from YouTube audio. Anyone interested can send a request for details to me at :
alphawav@comcast.net
I will begin mailing them out as soon as I get back from Westbury.

Very interesting quote from the California Chronicle (an article mentioned earlier by marlie).
And it’s one reason Archuleta, who turns 19 this month, says he recorded “Christmas From the Heart.” The holiday disc, released in October, this week was No. 34 on Billboard’s albums chart.
“That was a goal with the Christmas album — to get music that did not have any boundaries and did not have any restrictions, like ‘Oh, this is only for my kids,’ ” says Archuleta, who performs a Christmas concert Friday at the Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg. “It’s for anyone who wants to listen … ’cause with Christmas music, there aren’t any boundaries.”
http://www.californiachronicle.com/articles/yb/138811047
awestruck, i’m glad you brought you Let It Be, def one we shouldn’t forget.
janey -- I laugh every time I see your avatar!
janey -- raelovingangels -- I also love his REO appearance. I thought I saw someone else mention it near the top of this comments section, but can’t seem to find it now.
HMMM
OK third time lucky -- different link
davidfanLIZ, my avi is one of Dana’s finest. she has mad “paint” skillz.
jello, so it’s off-topic no biggie
, but somehow when I see Astroboy (or Atomu as we used to call him in Japan), he does remind me a bit of David. I won’t even explain LOL! Gigantor ha! That’s funny, I had to look it up to know it’s Tetsujin 28-Go which I also used to watch and draw!
River and Jen A, please let us know how your friend (River) and sister-in-law (Jen A) liked the concert later. Always fun to hear the stories.
awestruck, janey! **waves**
Nina, is that a Westie? I looove Westies ever since hubby and I had to look after one for a friend.
janey, I think Dana is seriously talented! She got better and better as she went along I think. Not easy expressing so much in a simple drawing that also works as a avatar, beautifully I might add!! I love it too.
Hi all, hope you’re enjoying the holidays!! I’ve given some thought to this, but will have to resume later… so far, here are my picks:
Best Live Performance – Rockin the House
Clearly (OK, for me!) that was Zero Gravity in Tempe, AZ in March. There was more Archenergy output per nanosecond than I’ve seen before or since, and the crowd went absolutely bonkers during that particular performance. May I submit for evidence:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdwESmF5biw
Best Live Performance – Heart Connection
HYAMLC with his mom, SLC-1, not that this displayed totally best vocals, but how could anyone not CRY?! Soooo sweet. Awww… I heart David singing with Lupe!!
Song of the Year (single or album track with a 2009 release date in the U.S.)
Zero Gravity. Nothing puts a smile on my face faster.
Hawtest David Picture (2009 only)
The Christmas outtake in which he’s seated, green theater seats background, he in black top with burgundy scarf (I think this is the one ronaldsf refers to, too)
Best Archuquote (non-Tweet)
“You just take whatever (life) throws at you, and you just learn how to deal with it, even when you don’t think you can,” he said. “It’s about pushing yourself and pushing past what you think are your limits.” (In deseretnews article)
Best David Cover of Another Artist’s Song)
FOG. I was non-plussed by that song until David sang it… or should I say brang it!
Best Christmas Song)
Ave Maria. Hands down… or even if you’re sitting on them.
Best TV Appearance)
Contigo en la Distancia OMG, fall-over-daid fantastic!
OK, only a few more categories to go… gee, I have to go look at photos of David now, to come up with cutest David pic… darn!
desertrat -- thanks for the comprehensive David TV sched!!!
Wow -- I am REALLY enjoying all the effort that the devoted fans are putting into the 2009 Archie Awards. I am so impressed that you are doing the homework and coming up with fabulous ideas.
For those of you who are a bit frantic this week with holiday activities -- think about submitting an idea for just one or two categories. It’s all good lol!
I realized that I nominated something that was from 2008. Oops! I now nominate Zero Gravity as Song of the Year.
highervibe, love your Best Live Performance nomination. What’s really great about this Archie Awards is we get to see some videos we may have missed that should not have been missed. Thank you Ronald for this!
Now I got work to do
. Brought work home, not the fun “homework” kind like this. Later!
awestruck -- #91 Dang it, that video put a great big smile on my face. David is just magic!
“waves” vermeer, highervibe, LIZ
Awestruck, ’twas I brought up the REO Speedwagon performance earlier. I think the “Let It Be” appearance was similiar. He was “jammin” here too. In fact, it looked to me as if Michael Johns was trying to encourage David to let loose ‘specially during “Proud Mary”
Have to say, I love the top pic!
awestruck, skiffrower, those are 2 of my favs too!
Love the big wheels motion at .10, and how at 2:39 that voice just encompasses the entire room with that simple “rollin”, and from 2:50, man-o-man, does he know how to bring it home.
davidfanLiz #111 -- thanks for the suggestion -- frantic doesn’t begin to describe this past week -- as if I wasn’t already overwhelmed, I crashed my lap top -- yikes!
Here are just a few nominations:
Best Live Performance -- Heart Connection -- Contigo En La Distancia
Song of the Year -- Zero Gravity!!!
Best Christmas Song -- Ave Maria
Hawest David Picture -- I so agree with highervibe #109 David seated in theatre wearing black top with burgundy scarf
Tweet of the Year -- Hush Cats
Best David Cover of another artist’s song -- The Riddle
Anyone going to Stroudsburg on Friday???
skifflower, emmiegirl -- he makes me smile and my heart sing to watch him let loose. Proud Mary, took him a while to get going, but man o man loved that ending!
BIG oops -- skiffrower
love, love, love his 3 ‘guest performances’. Has anyone made mp4′s of these that can be downloaded?

I was so hoping we would do this again.
I’d like to nominate these items
Best live- heart connection: HYAMLC performance with Lupe, the first night, in Salt Lake.
Song of the year: A Little Too Not Over You
Archudorkable moment; David turning the computer around so that we could see the scenery from the bus in the video blog.
Top David moment of the year: (Just because it hasn’t been nominated yet)winning 3 teen choice awards.
best cover: a thousand miles
Xmas song: Ave Maria
TV appearance: I second the US open and ALMA awards
Archuquote:
1.(paraphrasing) I don’t remember what I got, but I remember what we did. (About being with family at Xmas)
2. I’m David. I like music. from his twitter bio (I don’t know which category this one should go, but I like its simple and direct message.)
Tweet of the year:
1. I like the 24 hour fitness one “but my name’s not Christopher” (I like David showing a snarky side.)
2. My favorite is the one where he can hear the creepy laugh of his next door neighbor. “Maybe he laughs at the smell of my fear.”
One question, are we nominating fan pictures, and, if so, can we post them here or just say where they are located?
Now off to find other stuff to nominate.
Oh Cleveland. I’ll never be right again. Take a peek at the salsa shoulder movements at 1:42-1:47 ish.
He did alot of the fist pump to the heart thing all night.
Which I have discovered that I love.
Oh betsy…I guarantee that you will never be the same again…It has been how long since SLC? No,no hope of turning back…
There will be many more dance moves in the future and by next tour one will see that, my New Year’s prediction…
Thanks for the 1:42 on…
SB
Oh, oh, oh, Montclair! I will write a review for later in the week, but suffice it to say that I made some lovely new friends who I will write more about (shout out to Jackie, Chris, Robert and Sayuri!) and connected with someone here, whom I’ve had a few words with in the past, in a way that I would never imagine. Such a great connection night.
And David, David, David. You made me cry during Ave Maria … and I will relate the rest in my article.
So good to see so many people from the sites!
Does anybody know if David was on the Early Show this morning?
David was listed to perform so I recorded the whole show. He was never on. I went through it over and over. So disappointed. He hasn’t tweeted about it either.
heads up tdc -- from ray, david’s tour manager… just posted on fod…
Message from Tour Manager Ray re: Westbury Gifts!
Let’s all put our hands together for Ray and the Team who are working all hours of the day and night to make this “Christmas from the Heart Tour” successful. They’re good people.
Ray wanted to get a message out to the fans about gifts for David at the FINAL show in WESTBURY, NY.
Please take a minute to read and pass along this message. Know that there are alternatives to bringing a gift to the show if you want to do something for David.
Ray offers suggestions below.
========================================================
“Hi to you all, this is Ray Amico. In anticipation of the final show of the tour, ending in Westbury, NY; knowing that it is so close to Xmas and to David’s birthday, we know that many fans would like to bring gifts to the ILAA VIP as well as to the show, for David..
David wants to thank everyone for all of their kindness and generosity but says it is definitely not necessary to bring him gifts – for xmas or his birthday. He would much rather that people make donations to his favorite causes & charities, or donate gifts to local children’s hospitals, etc. That would make him extremely happy.
As with the last show of all previous tours we will not be able to accept any gifts at this show since we don’t have anywhere to carry them after the show, and David will not have the time to go through any of them – remember that he is appearing the next morning extremely early on the Today Show and will need to leave immediately, just to get some rest before this early morning performance.
Thanks for understanding, cooperating and for your kind thoughts – and happy holidays to all of you.
Ray Amico”
ggdoorsfan -- thanks for that!
hooked #129 I thought that must be waht happened. Scoured youtube for a vid, but nothing. Thanks for the info.
WOWOWOW!
Free HD concert broadcast via BillboardLive.com featuring American Idol finalist and singer-songwriter, David Archuleta live from Mashantucket, CT Thursday, December 17.
Fans can easily access the series by simply logging onto: BillboardLive.com where they will be able to safely and securely download the Microsoft Silverlight and OWL HD player onto their computer free of charge with a one-time, simple download.
Re the Early Show gig -- word is, Ray wasn’t even aware of it. So it probably was never firmed up in the 1st place. Given the logistics, Montclair the night before, travel time from NJ to NY and sing very early for that show, am glad it didn’t push through.
This is only me, but am satisfied with the promo that David or CFTH is getting at this point, esp starting Mashantucket.
Which brings me to something I would like to emphasize re:
THE OWL/BILLBOARD broadcast
To join the ranks of R. Kelly, Alicia Keys & Usher with this new tie-up between OWL and BillboardLive says a lot about how David or his potentials is regarded in the music industry.
To lift a quote from one of the movers of the this landmark initiative:
“The focus is all about musicianship. Most shows give artists three minutes to do their latest hit; billboardlive.com gives artists an opportunity to show what they do best without any restrictions. There’s a lot more than their current hit that people want to see,” says highly respected music industry veteran Ron Weisner, who is executive producer of billboardcom.live, along with OWL CEO Michael Williams and noted television producer Tzvi Small.
Through OWL’s strategic alliances with Microsoft and the internationally divisions/distributors, billboardlive.com has a potential worldwide audience of millions of viewers per weekly episode.
“OWL has had a dream that some day technology would reunite live performances with their fans everywhere,” Williams says. …… our long awaited dream will now become reality.”
Additionally, billboardlive.com fills the giant void that currently exists in exposing new talent. While billboardlive.com will feature the biggest names, it will also highlight developing artists sometimes performing with the headliner or in their own sets. Billboardlive.com puts the act of musical discovery back into fans’ hands.
“Top-notch artists doing live concerts in this extraordinary innovative way is a fantastic opportunity for music fans,” says Billboard publisher Howard Appelbaum. “It feeds into what our larger strategy is: bringing great unique content and letting people behind the velvet rope of the music industry.”
In addition to the live concert, billboardlive.com will be including other exclusive elements, including rehearsal and behind-the-scenes footage, as well as interviews with the featured performer.
Fans can easily access the series by simply going to http://www.billboardlive.com and downloading Microsoft Silverlight and the OWL video player onto their computer at no charge.
Other alliances include Microsoft’s MSN Music and Windows Media.com, which will push the series worldwide.
For OWL, bringing the future of entertainment to the music fans of today provides a means to enjoy their favorite artists in a whole new way. “Every number of years, there’s a new technology that comes along and dictates how the content reaches people,” Weisner says. “Billboardlive.com is the next giant step up.”
If this will be made available worldwide instantaneously (am still waiting for confirmation that Asia won’t be blocked), then I think Archies around the world should make a HUGE IMPRINT with this opportunity by tuning in and promoting this one.
What I don’t get is how come Azzoff and Jive are not milking this event for all the good buzz that they could generate out of it.
And consider this: David is barely 19yo but look at the quality of CFTH! It is stellar in any which angle you review it: vocals, production value, arrangement, setlist/cuts… Even the flow of the cuts, how the songs segued -- everything about it conveys that considerable thought & planning was put into it. It is the perfect showcase of David’s remarkable gift. But the uninitiated public (or those who refuse to/can’t be moved) will say: “so what’s new? We all know he has the voice. AI showed that week after week. But that’s the thing -- voice yes, personality? booooring (again: to those who can’t be moved). Christmas music? Concert would be snooze-fest…”
But the ArchuWorld knows that the concert features both CFTH songs & his pop originals plus some wonderful covers. Which makes the billboard broadcast the perfect platform to highlight his versatility. It is a huge chance to blast the mold that AI kept on imprisoning his huge, huge talent.
So if there is any event that Archies around the world should unite one big time? I think this is it.
Social media is at our disposal. With 2-3 days to go, let’s get our acts together and spread this wonderful opportunity!
We want more people to get David? BillboardLive is our unprecedented chance. Let’s do it!
ps: Sorry for being carried away. This is novel literally! But did I mention that the MONTCLAIR TOUR PAGE is now complete? http://www.thedavidchronicles.com/2009/10/monclair-nj-december-13-2009/
Lurker, but faithful reader here. Have any of you tried to do this?
Fans can easily access the series by simply logging onto: BillboardLive.com where they will be able to safely and securely download the Microsoft Silverlight and OWL HD player onto their computer free of charge with a one-time, simple download.
I can’t find on the site where to do it. I am nervous that when the time comes on the 17th I won’t be able to watch because I haven’t downloaded these essentials. Can anyone help?
I am so excited to attend this live concert!! I have only ever been to one — a DemiLovato one in Greenville, SC and lots of underwater crappy cellcasts, so this will be unique.
daffyfordavid #135 — It seems to be a very simple procedure. You go to the website http://www.billboardlive.com and you are on the page where David is talking. On the right you are asked “are you in?” Underneath that, simply click on YES and it will take you to the rest. I did this a couple of weeks ago to test it and was able to watch the Imogen Heap concert. I don’t want to go back in and check what the rest of the procedure is because it is a one-time download and I don’t want to take any chances on losing my connection (which I hope I still have). As I remember it was very simple and very fast. Gosh, hope this helps. I did give these instructions to a poster in Argentina and she was registered in minutes. Fingers crossed.

“A lot of people wants me to do East Center… Just because I can do it [fill the venue] or you think I can do it, doesn’t mean it is the right thing to do.”
This was taken from part 2 of Snarkies’ exclusive interview. One of the topics was the issue of choosing the venue for his concert in Utah. Because of high demand, some thought it would be best to hold it in a bigger venue or an SRO type which David refused because according to him (1) that wasn’t the point of the tour -- he wants a more intimate & safe setting for his hometown peeps and (2) he was considering the age & type of Utah audience which would need a seated-venue.
His statement in this interview is speaks volume of David’s integrity, strength in perspective & where he puts his value. It also conveys that when he is an issue he is passionate about, he will put his foot down and won’t mince words.
OR
from a CFTH promo interview:
“That was a goal with the Christmas album — to get music that did not have any boundaries and did not have any restrictions, like ‘Oh, this is only for my kids,’ ” says Archuleta, who performs a Christmas concert Friday at the Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg. “It’s for anyone who wants to listen … ’cause with Christmas music, there aren’t any boundaries.”

I am loving all your ideas, all you lovely people!!! What a David year this has been.
Reading and watching your choices is the most fun I’ve had in weeks! David just is the most unique person, isn’t he? Lots of love, laughs, and adorkableness.
THANK YOU for all the research and work that went into these nominations… a lot of thought and fun going on here.
Nominations are now officially closed, and the illustrious Nominations Committee will now peruse. Feel free to submit some late nominations but I can’t guarantee we’ll see them before the voting begins!
See you all on Sunday!!

http://fansofdavid.com/?p=33149
that’s the best I could do; could not cut paste pic or trace to original twicpic source link…maybe eventually but no time to keep searching now. Not sure how long they’ll keep that page up…I had to Google search it…couldn’t find it scrolling on the site itself today.
in case anyone wants to see this sweet pic.
Jackryan…I so forgot about “It Is?” LOL!!
and I sit here and once again wonder…
how is it that those 2 words, delivered with dry, spontaneous and sincere nonchalance is funnier than any comedian’s
50 minute routine?
Priceless Archuleta.
Hey…what about fan tribute videos? Maybe too much work…understandable..and too late now but…………….
just in case there’s like an honorable mention…I nominate “In Defense of The Vulnerable Man”..I think it was Angelica’s? Awesome.
k, cya~
amb4dja -- actually we considered having a Fan Tribute Video Archie Award, but dang it, it would be too hard to choose from among all of them. Each fan video is appreciated and loved! (We are actually following Rascal’s lead in this from the Archie Awards 2008. He chose to have the fans NOT compete against each other for best fan video. Thank you Rascal!)
Just before the Christmas Tour I started posting Fan Tributes, but when the tour started, there was so much news I stopped for a while. You can see Fan Tribute videos in the third section down on the home page, and I will start up again after the first of the year. They are all so, good, though that we didn’t want them to be competing. In Abrra’s lovely fan video contests, she makes sure that there is a prize for everyone!
Tks for ‘splainin’ guys..no problem.
And good thinking re: no competition…because really, and I mean this…I’ve yet to see ONE fan video I didn’t think was great…I’m amazed at every one.
And I forgot you now have a section where you highlight a different one regularly…so you are already giving props to them all..one at a time.
Didn’t mean to just mention Angelica’s over anyone elses, btw…have not seen them all here…or lots in general this year…hers just stuck out for me, but not over anyone elses.
So…Kudos to all who put together all the beautiful tributes!
