“Prayer of the Children”
Singing at Hope for Haiti
Here is the video of David singing after the Hope for Haiti telethon! Backstage, an MTV News correspondent noticed David humming, and asked him to sing something for the world. David gladly obliged and gave a beautiful impromptu rendition of “Prayer of the Children.” Here is the video:
Jim Cantiello of MTV thanks everyone for the donations fans gave to Haiti in his and David’s name through the Virtual Cupcake Drive:
So to @janey79, @karenkid, @momJulee, @BeckyFOD, all the David Archuleta fan sites and blogs who helped spread the word (as well as the dozens of fans who donated money), I’d like to thank you from the bottom of my “Idol”-addicted heart. Your dedication and ingenuity is an inspiration to us all. They don’t call you guys “Arch Angels” for nothing.
Please make sure to thank Jim Cantiello of MTV for sharing this video with us! (Click here to go to his original posting.)

This is just the most beautiful video. There is nothing more pure than David singing this song, acapella, with this message in his heart. He truly should have been on the Hope for Haiti show doing this.
Hi guys! For those unable to view the MTV link --

JR: Thanks for the links!
JR, I was watching POTC from MTV.com but on YT. Thank you for that! And then I ended up also watching again that long interview from ABC News, part 1 & part 2. Thank you for that too! That was a truly great interview.
So quiet around here… I miss Liz but I know life calls sometimes and everything else has to take a back seat. It’s great momjulee is back! Finding beebee was simply terrrrific! And I still laugh over at orly. Sooo funny. It’s a good time to roam around a bit LOL.
Retiring early tonight…
just stopping by to give you a quick update on Peace. Love. Cupcakes.
we’re currently at $4,850.
THANK YOU SUPER FANS ♥
Vermeer: Yeah, it’s a crazy time for all of us with work and projects going on, but we’re regrouping and will be back in the swing of it soon. Thanks!
Janey: Woo hoo! David’s fans always come through. What an ingenious idea you guys came up with. Loved the twitter cupcakes everyone wore.
In the meantime, I was floating through youtube, also, and came across this:

OT, but on Archuleta Avenue there’s a bunch of pics that I haven’t seen before. Maybe other people are familiar with them?

I actually wanted to point out this one. David with highlights in his hair? WhooNoo!!

RONALDSF -- LOL, those pix came from IDF — in their official picture thread. You could get loat there in that thread!
OT, It’s been a dreary day here in Mississippi, and I want to share a message song that has cheered me up many times over the years. It was a minor hit for Petula Clark, and I bet David would love the message and the tune! (“Some are lucky, some are not, just be thankful for what you’ve got.”)
olemr2001 #10, i enjoy listening to the artists that u recommend. i’ve heard all of their names but i’m not familiar w/their music (eg, petula clark, connie francis).
during this david drought, i just read the nytimes review of jason castro’s ep which is posted under the TDC newsfeeds (to the right). he red’d a pretty good review. here’s one of the quotes:
“Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz should be nervous (to say nothing of Wednesday night’s actual headliner, Matt Hires, who received a fraction of the adulation bestowed on Mr. Castro).”
Awww MArlie
That Crazy video has set me on my path for the weekend. You should know that I am now watching all Crazy & Heaven Vip vids. To be able to do this makes me incredibly happy.
betsey: I know just what you mean. During this relatively quiet time (no tour!), I am going back through old stuff, replaying funny videos and swooning over vids like that “Crazy” video.
Can’t wait until Wednesday for the event in Miami.
CRUSH @ 1.884M!
“BONUS SOUNDSCAN NUMBERS!
I found some extra download data from Nielsen SoundScan in my inbox today, so I thought I’d pass it along to you. It’s heavy on Carrie Underwood, since some of you recently asked for updates on some of her singles. Plus, I’ve got the latest on Danny Gokey’s and Allison Iraheta’s singles, as well as a few other odds and ends. Enjoy!….
…..David Archuleta, Crush (3,000 weekly/1.884 million total — this is a more specific figure than the rounded one gave a few weeks ago, which only took the total to one decimal place)…..”

I believe this is just US numbers?!
I was going down memory lane as one would do in times of drought lol and just watched this Ford commercial video, or rather the making of.

While Syesha and Cook are focused on materials things, David’s dreams and wishes have to do with music itself. So David through and through. LOVE HIM!!!
janey! Saw the new figure! $5,450!!! Wooooot!!!
I’m watching the Grammy’s. There are some fantastic acts on, and some really horrible ones. I’m never going to understand how anyone thinks that Taylor Swift can sing. She’s off key, and sounds like a singer in the local bar. How can she be in the same category as Beyonce?
Marlie,
Totally agree with you about Taylor Swift. She was way off key again tonight. Her performance tonight was even worse than the one on Hope For Haiti! I had to mute the sound near the end of her performance because I just can’t stand it. We are so spoiled by David.
Marlie7 & quiteblanc- I haven’t posted here in a while, but I am glad to know there are others who think the same thing I do about Taylor. She is extremely popular and everyone loves her, but to me she is not that great of a singer. It’s not that I don’t like her, because I do, it’s just that I don’t think she can sing as good as many other artists out there. I know she is known for her writing skills as well as her singing. She is limited on what type of songs she can sing because her vocal range holds her back. She sings sort of low and I never hear her get high at all. I just think there are better singers in the music business. I thought I was the only person in the world who didn’t think she was a great singer. LOL!
quiteblanc and dafa4ever: So glad you both posted -- haha -- I was beginning to think I was the only one who doesn’t appreciate her voice. And it’s not that I don’t like her, either, but I think she doesn’t hold a candle to Beyonce, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and others that were up for awards that went to someone who’s voice is just not there.
I’m sure she’s a talented songwriter (well, I don’t know that, really, I’m just trying to give her credit for writing her own songs).
Am reminded by Dean K’s interview Nov 2009 when the talk shifted to how singers sound live vs recording and he shared his frustrations as a voice teacher: “Taylor is a perfect example of this… I don’t mind her winning best new artist or best entertainer… but to win best vocal performer? Ok, I think I give up! Because she is a lot of things but she is not a good vocalist…”
I think Dean was ref to Taylor’s win in the CMA. At least the Grammys didn’t give that catgeory to her.

YAY!
Marlie et al -- thanks for being here, and for providing the forum for venting about Taylor Swift. We (friends and I) had to hold our ears for most of her performance, good grief that was sooooo awful, I was shrieking in pain during parts of it. They must apply auto-tuning to every note of her recordings!!—and her songs are so juvenile. ACK! What. Is. Up. With. That?
Ahh… I feel better now! lol
Otherwise, just popped in to check if any news about that Billboard Live DVD… in the meantime (looks like we’re still waiting!), thanks for the link, JR!
“They must apply auto-tuning to every note of her recordings!!—and her songs are so juvenile. ACK! What. Is. Up. With. That?”
HV — definitely auto-tuning plus several layering to make the Taylor’s voice thicker LOL
About her songs, yes they are juvenile, cos well, she was still juvenile when they wrote them. I think most of them were done when she was still 15 or 16 — one of the factors why she is given high regards by her fellow musicians.
The tale on how she was signed-on by her label is story book stuff. Imagine being barely 14 and going around Nashville peddling your compositions to any label worth approaching? Since she was still a minor, her label decided to get her services as a songwriter, until she was ready to hit the limelight. What a brilliant move!
I have a theory why the public is lapping up Taylor and her songs — they are so relatable and very “singable” -- if there is such a word LOL. I mean who has not undergone teenage heartbreaks, etc… And since her voice quality only allows her to sing in the lower pitch, her songs are not intimidating to sing!
Her music is a crossover between country & pop. Given the market’s demographics — teens + country + pop — plus Taylor’s winning persona, attracting all genders, you have the golden goose in your hands.
A lot may say she is overrated but you have to admit, she knows how to play the showbiz game.
And her Daddy owns Swift Trucking -- a little bit of money to put behind her.
marlie7, did you see this already?

It’s hilariousness (a word?) from the orlyy girls (salt & peppa) again; a continuation of their previous posts or rather, conclusion. So silly but I love it!
VERMEER -- bwahahahahahahahahaha! thanks for posting that link. If this keeps up, the arch angels will soon join David & Idol as iconic reps of this generation. O.M.G.
vermeer!!! OMG, that is hilarious! Thank you for posting that!
Vermeer!!! Too funny! And while I was there, I noticed this one too:
