Archuperfect88--So ya know, I’ve been a member of the LDS Church for almost 39 years. During that time, I’ve regularly attended church in both Utah and Washington state and have never known or heard of a Mormon disowning their child coz they’re gay. Ever. I’ve also honestly never heard a Church member speak disparagingly about gay people. Not once.

You’re making assumptions that my extensive experience simply does not reflect. The emphasis in the LDS Church is on loving others and perfecting ourselves. I don’t see the judgmentalism you assign to Mormons in actual fact.

Whether you’ll consider it or not, I’m offering a little food for thought…

conditioner7: I believe he didn’t know that he was going to a gay bar. I believe he was uncomfortable. I believe he didn’t have a clue that there was a shitstorm brewing until he started getting twitters from fans (all kinds), and that he posted quickly and perhaps without a lot of thought. I don’t think he’s homophobic, but I think he knows some of his fans are and he responded to that, not thinking that he also was addressing his gay fans.

I also believe if he had taken the time (or been given the time) he would have thought through what he really wanted to say, as Rascal says, “what we (think we) know is in his heart” -- I wish he had waited and posted a blog.

So basically nobody believes him?? He said he had no idea what kind of a place it was and that he’s not into the partying scene. He even said “note to self-always ask before you go” implying that if he had been aware of what type of place it was he wouldn’t have gone. So all you people that are saying that he went there because he’s maturing, broadening his horizons, growing up, branching out…..are basically calling him a liar?
