These Are a Few of My Favorite Things
I’ve had one of those evenings when I didn’t feel like working. And so I took a walk through my video library. I have no wisdom to impart, no analysis to provide. I just want to share these videos that are in my all-time favorites list.
I want to hear David sing. I want to watch David move around the stage and hunker down. I want the new CD and a tour so baaaaddddddddd.
Enjoy!
Touch My Hand and Waiting for Yesterday, Leicester, UK – McFly Tour
Stand By Me – Manila, May 16, 2009 Concert with David Cook
My Hands – Salt Lake City – March 27, 2009
Don’t Let Go - Greensboro, NC, July 29, 2009
Apologize – Las Vegas, NV, July 18, 2009
Zero Gravity – Sunrise, Florida, August 1, 2009. He uses every inch of that stage.
Contigo en la distancia at the 2009 ALMA awards

{{{Marlie}}}
Marlie -- I love the idea of favorites. A difficult but delightful dilemma to ponder.
In my personal experience of DavidFandom, it is equal parts DAVID (thankyoulordforgivingmethisbeautifulperson&voice) & DAVIDFRIENDS (thankyoulordforgivingmefabulous&interestingpeoplewho sharethisexperience).
Marlie (xoxox) I thoroughly enjoyed your video faves. It will take a bit of thought before I can post MY faves. (What a lovely assignment.)
What about the rest of you guys out there??? What are YOUR fave moments of David??????
One more thought.
Bottom line -- there is SOMETHING about That Voice that just sends me to another place… a place of peace and joy and comfort.
How the freaking heck does he do it???????
Thank you sweet David, from the bottom of my heart.
Liz: These videos are the best of these songs, where his voice is generally clear and/or the video itself shows off his stage style or is otherwise a WOW performance. They are ones I send to “newbies” who I’m trying to convert
David’s intensity is what I like in the video of the McFly tour. I get chills at the ending of Stand By Me. My Hands is just downright soulful. Need I say anything about Don’t Let Go?
That version of Apologize is his very best concert performance of that song -- no piano hesitation (except the one at the end where is was very measured), and his falsetto is spot on. Zero Gravity at Sunrise -- he’s all over the stage! And Contigo -- ahhhhhh.
Marlie- Belated condolences for your loss.
Why does it say “11 comments” under the article but I only see four?
Marlie~Thank you for these video’s. This is a great idea. I love knowing that there are other’s that see, feel, and hear what I do about David. For the longest time I wondered if I was alone in all of this. None of my family understands David or my O.D.D. about him. Especially since I’m a grandmother and have never been a fan of anyone’s before this.
When I listen to David sing (which I can never get enough of, I listen to him everyday), he takes me with him on his journey, wherever in the heck he’s going. Whether it’s, Feliz Navidad,Prayer of the Children,or Barriers I feel his music.
I thank God everyday for this incredible young man. And I’m grateful for this website that allows me the ability to share this with others who also suffer from O.D.D.
I know, now I’m just blabbering the way David does only I’m not cute doing it. Soooo, enough said!!
rae: Thank you!
embe: The extra “comments” are linkbacks where people have linked to the page from another site. Many of them are just junk pages, but a few are other sites where someone mentioned this page for real.
DoddFanA: You certainly are not alone in your ODD! I have finally become so immune to whether people think I’m crazy or not, that I tell people about this site, my David concert trips, etc. all the time. If they think I’m weird, so be it.
When David sings, I just am so enamored, so pulled in, I just feel such joy. And I listen to him everyday as well, whether it’s a little trip through my iTunes or through my videos, or checking out someone’s (usually JR’s) new videos on youtube. I just gotta hear him at least once a day or I feel deprived
So who is going to post a favorite video to share with me?
Marlie~It’s so good to hear that you share with everyone and that you’ve gone to his concert. I haven’t gone because I think at my age I wouldn’t fit in with the young crowd. Maybe I’ll try to get to one of his concerts next time if I can talk someone into going with me. You’ve given me courage.
I’ld post a video but I’ve never posted one so I’m not really sure how!!
It’s really hard to find a video of David singing Barriers that is clear. Even this one has a bit too much of the bass sound, but the visuals more than make up for it
DoddfanA: To post a video from youtube you copy the link (on the youtube page click the SHARE button just below the video and the link shows up) and then past it here. Then put a letter v between the http and the : in the link.
Try it!
DoddfanA: I’m 54, so believe me, I’m in the older group at those concerts….but, truly, there a LOT of us of this age there. Where are you located? I am in the Northeast and usually meet up with a few people (although, I suspect they won’t want to meet up with me anymore, but that’s another story
)
This one is an all time fave — don’t know how anyone can be unaffected by his soulful groove
David -- more of this, pleeeeeeeeeeease!
Marlie~Thank you for the information on how to post a video. I will give a try today when a get a few minutes.
I live in Southern Ohio.
Did anyone else give much thought to this tweet?
“I don’t really like using the word chill but that was the best word I could think of to describe the time you hang in the car during traffic”
I’m glad to see that David express an opinion about a word that has become a part of the current pop culture. Next thing we know, he will be quoting from the “good usage versus common usage” section of the Chicago Manual of Style (Section 5.202)!
A couple of my favorite songs. However I have several favorite David songs.
#16 Concerning good usage, I should have deleted “that” from “that David” (haha this David, that David, just David).
Regarding favorites, this video is still one of mine -- Northampton “Barriers”:
I have about two thousand favorite videos on Youtube, so I’m really going to have to ponder about which ones to post as my “favorites”.
But what I really came here for was to tell you a little random story, David-related of course
So, like some of you know, I currently work as a gym-instructor for elderly people. And I have said this before, but I always play “Christmas from the Heart” as we are stretching, which is always followed by a relaxation exercise accompanied by “Ave Maria”. The people have loved it, and they’ve asked me about David.
Anyway, for about a week I’ve used David’s debut album as warm-up music. Usually I play “Touch my hand” and “Don’t let go”, because the tempo is just right. After we’ve warmed up, the group moves on to the gym equipment, and I leave the cd playing in the background. Well, today a lady was on the cross-trainer and the stereo is right behind it, so the music is clearer there. She said to another lady beside her “this is exceptionally good music”. The song playing at that time was “Barriers”.
I then told her, that it’s the same guy that sings the stretching songs. She said “this boy can really sing!”, and I talked about David’s character to the group. They were really pleased to hear what David’s like. The one lady asked if his music was available in Jämsä, which is where we live. I told her I had no idea, but I promised to give her a copy of CFTH.
I cannot wait to come to the US and try to get a chance to tell David how much he has moved, inspired, amazed and helped me. Even my fiance totally accepts my ODD, because he sees that David really brings out the best in me. Well, he is yoga, isn’t he?
Oh no. There’s no hope for me now.
Look what I found.

DoddfanA: Oh, those are great! You got the posting thing down pat
embe: Shame on you! You dragged me all the way over to that site…and now I don’t want to leave! LOL They have some great pictures
Embe #20…Wow, you didn’t just make my day, you just filled the hole of the last month, or so, of the Archudrought. What a string of pictures. One of the best I’ve seen. Well, I guess I probably liked the theme(s). I got a sense that that site is not “conservative” chalk another one up for….
Again…THANKS!!!
olemr2001: I remember the night of the Northampton concert very well as those of us at home worried over our friends and David as they all traveled through a Northeast blizzard to get to the venue. But it was one of his best tour performances!
Embe#20~I can’t quite decide what to say about that site except the pictures are incredible!! LOL
#24..One word. Perspective.
And, there are many.
Embe #20, those pictures are incredible!
And it only gets kuh-razier as you turn the page…
AnotherDavid: yes, combat the Archudrought it does indeed -- only to drench us all in Archusweat! Somebody pass the towel!
ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF DAVID’s EPIC MANILA VISIT:
Archie Pinoys have been reminiscing/celebrating for a week now re the one year anniversary of the 2 Davids epic concert here in Manila.
Looking back -- ok, lower the volume of your PCs/Laptop before playing the ff vids:
The airport arrival -- pandemonium!
NOTE: Only Archie Pinoys were the only group who were at the airport to greet the 2 Davids despite strict security measures due to swine-flu alert
Media coverage of David’s arrival
NOTE: Our David could hardly walk with all the people wanting to get a glimpse of him
Here’s a translateion of the news: “DA arrived past 3pm this afternoon. Soon as he went out of the arrival area of NAIA T1, he was mobbed by the media, even by the airport personnel and immigration people. People just kept taking pictures of/with the singer; afterwhich, he proceeded to the VIP lounge to take care of the necessary documents. Cook arrived earlier this afternoon. Both are here for their back to back concert. Archuleta is also set to guest on SIS, this Thursday.”

Ah, the mem’ries!
EMBE & other international fans -- don’t lose hope. You never know when David may step in somewhere near your shores someday and give you the DEADLY ARCHUGAZE -- something like this:

Or squeal at hearing him say I LOVE YOU in your native language, like this:
Or just drop dead when he may pose like this in front of you:

I tell ya, May 12-16, 2009 was the best time I had — playing hookie at pockets of time I could get — and it was my 1st time at that, at 47yo! LOL
Thank you David for an epic week.
For a blow-by-blow account of David’s week in Manila, you can revisit my recap a year ago:

JR: Those videos are so cool. I remember well watching as videos popped up on youtube from the Pinoy fans. I think David felt so welcome and so loved!

This looks like everyone had sooo much fun!!
Hey guys!
Sorry about the beats your hearts may have skipped because of the link I posted. I really, sincerely just wanted you to suffer like I did.
Anyways, SUMMER HAS ARRIVED in Finland! The weather was almost as hot as David. Here are my latest photos, ’cause you know how I love to post photos

Please ignore it lol…. A bit embarrassing, I have to admit!

This will be some book!
JR: Thanks for posting that. I look forward to reading this so much. I’m sure there will be some surprising moments.
With Japan receiving COS this early, the more am convinced that the change in its official launch date has something to do with his single/album.
Perhaps we may have new music by the time the book officially comes out in the US.
Well, I can dream can’t I?
ps: Ecstatic over the weekend cos signed copies have been shipped to me, thanks to a very generous Archie
weeeeeeeeeeeeee! (too bad I have stopped doing cartwheels)
EMBE -- no need to panic. It’s a delicious mistake hehe
Here’s hoping your US trip pushes thru
I have thought perhaps his single will debut close to the release of his book. It seems as if they would help to increase the sale of each other. But, I’m hardly a marketing expert.
Yesterday, the Mall of Asia (MOA) also celebrated the Davids’ anniversary by playing their music all day long.
Heard that DA had more play time. That’s why this is Archuleta Country, you know. LOL
Am so giddy that 2 weeks from now, his book will be out and possibly, some new music soooooooooooooooon, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeassssse David!
I just love it that David takes every opportunity to reach out and touch souls.
His music -- to share the joy within, his time -- to share his love for his fellowmen, and now his words -- to share some of his life lessons and home grown values.
With my Dad’s failing health, am inclined to say that as far as men go, they don’t make them as they used to. I have to table that when it comes to David. Barring ethical considerations, if there is any justification for cloning, David could be it (weak smile).
Start of a new week. Here’s hoping that it will be hassle-free and productive for all of us
JR #36: Oh stop it you (blushes)! I usually check my links and posts like three times before posting, but of course with those pictures I was kind of in a hurry, and didn’t look through the links. Here’s hoping no perverts will ‘right-click and save’ that photo
I know people here say I’m open, but not THAT open
Ohhh, now this is a post after my heart!
I have this crazy on-going project to make YT playlists for each of David’s songs and include my favorite performances for each. It’s like the never-ending project. So far, I have 12 videos for Barriers alone… lol.
I won’t subject you guys to all twelve but I thought I might share a few…which you’ve probably all seen before.
I absolutely love the Apologize performance you have posted, Marlie! It’s in my top 3 of all time. I don’t separate them out as #1, #2 & #3 — they’re all #1, there’s just three of them lol. That would be Vegas, Seattle and Hartford. All from last summer’s tour.
Man, I could spend all day on Youtube…
Tina: Barriers is one of my very favorite songs to hear david sing. (Oh, along with about 10 others LOL).
embe: Do you want me to delete that one link for you off the comments?
The site is wonky tonight -- we are working on getting it fixed. The sys admin told me to trim some of our 60,000 comments.
WHAT? Um, no….
MasterClassLady is also a few of my fave things.

Marlie, how fun! I took a few minutes [um, OK, goin' on a couple hours now! haha] to look through my favorites--which was soooo entertaining. So many vids put a big smile on my face, but surprisingly, this one especially. He’s talking, not singing, but as I listen to him ramble about what he likes in his first pop album--and why--I wondered if I was hearing the essence of what may go into his next one? And the nervous “busted” giggle with response to ALTNOY question… gotta love that!! And of course, the pictures that pass by your eyeballs are fiiiiiiiiine!! lol
Oh what the heck is another fave:
I love those stripped-down renditions that really allow you to appreciate the fluidity of his soulful style.
He mentioned in several interviews that his favorite song was “You Can”… that it’s simple with not a lot to it. I’d love for his next album to be without the excessive instrumentation and formulaic pop production that entered the mix early on. I’m really looking forward to hearing what the more assertive David might achieve with the next album.
There… I answered two questions in one (sort of)… in an earlier thread, Ronald asked what we foresaw, stylistically, in the imminent release. I’m hoping for ramped up soul and pulled back production, to showcase the voice. I’m guessing a bit more spirituality will work its way in, too--perhaps he’s penned his own anthemic Angels?
highervibe -- Hi!!
Thanks for those two fab videos. I loved hearing him ramble on enthusiastically about his favorite songs. It obviously means a lot to him to have his own ideas and experiences in the songs. And the CD#2 is going to full of that.
I hadn’t listened to WOTWTC in a long while. Stripped down and soulful. Love it!
Hi dfLIZ! {{{waves}}}
Glad you enjoyed the vids, I found I had an odd--and old--assortment in my favorites. (And that’s nothing like an ODD assortment! heh heh) I guess I got into the habit of “ripping” them, instead… but then I don’t have the links to refer back to. Oh well, glad everyone else has so many great ones here!
Oh look what I found in my inbox:
