Puri’s Recap – David Archuleta @ Pond’s Teens Concert 2011, Indonesia (16 July 2011)
PURI’s 1st CONCERT RECAP
I was coming about 7 pm (the event started about 4 pm), the field was wet and muddy after a short rain at 4:30ish. Managed standing in approximate 5 meter away from the stage and there’s 4 more local performances to go before David.
Still enjoyed the first, Afgan, he is a good singer, a year older than David, I think. But for the next three performance, many David fans were chatting … david … david … david …, before and after the performances. I felt sorry for the performers, but they should give outstanding (instead of average) performance to beat the waiting someone-else audiences, especially when the audiences are tired standing. Actually they were not bad at all, and the show must go on…
Then, David time came up. All the audiences’ feelings were out … You can see it here in my first video.
I don’t want to details each song performance because you have known already from the videos. I like them all. My favorites are LAH, MH, FS, EAM and WFM. I was expecting see live performance of Complain but it’s not on the songs list for that night. Hopefully in KL next week David will sing it.
In brief, the show is aaamazing, worth waiting and worth standing with all of our shoes full with mud. David looked more mature, own the stage (keeps running around), enjoy getting closer to the audience, looks comfortable all the way, and ready to show his talent to the World. What a proud fan I am.
It’s also interesting to share that, as you have seen that Indonesian fans were singing along with 80% out of tune (including me, … guilty) and too loud from where I was standing. The reason is (yes we do like singing David’s songs but we more like see and hear Davis singing) more because before David came up the host said please show your excitement to the guest star by siiiiing alooong, show that Indonesia loves the guest star to make the guest star want to come back to Indonesia. If we want David coming back to have his own concert in Indonesia so siiiiing alooong.
We did our job. So … David, we are ready for your next concert in Indonesia, at anytime.
(So sorry if the out of tune siiiiing alooong things annoying to hear in the videos but we have reason!).Enjoy …
Sorry if that too long.
PS:
I manage to record 17 of 18 songs. I missed the Black Bird. Hope still ok. 3 Videos are uploaded in YT, others to follow soon.

Good night!
JR and Marlie (above)…I’m with you on EAM!
Was my first chills moment yesterday,(though not my last), then couldn’t stop playing it…THEN…I literally woke this morning with it still playing in my head!! …not a bad way to wake, I might add..
I believe this song has quickly become my “this year’s My Hands”…the one that grabbed me and still hasn’t let me go…just love the melodies of both…and the “takes me away” aspect…and yesterday the passion David sang EAM with.
Loving it all.
Thanks for all the great videos!! Hope JR is somewhere on cloud 9 near David. Really great concert. I like EAM also, think WFM was sassy. Agree Marlie, best ending on “MH” yet
Singing part of “Stand by Me” in mall at Manila.
That mall was packed-pic up on FOD. Airport pic also, banners and lots of people to welcome David. Great SBM, I’m always most amazed at his ad lib performances.
olemr2001: Thanks for that! He’s just a wonder. Thanks Portia for the FOD reference -- lots of goodies there. JR was in that crowd!
marlie7, you are welcome! And thank you for all your work — especially while JR is occupied!
I found it interesting that this photo from yesterday of David wearing a blangkon already has more than 72,000 views.
http://lockerz.com/s/121037112
olemr2001, i noticed the high number of views too for the blangkon pic. after seeing that afgansyah reza, the guy standing beside david, has the same number of twitter followers, i discovered that he’s a popular singer too. maybe one of the indonesian fans can tell us more about him.
here you can hear his version of john legend’s “ordinary people”.
Here’s a MGR made by Abbra! That voice!
Man Oh Man -- David just belongs up on the stage! He always brings something new and also he brings so much of himself to the performances. It’s so great to see him back up there.
Soundcheck video from DArchSiteVids — David Archuleta and his band perform “Love Don’t Hate” during their soundcheck for the Ponds Teen Concert in Jakarta, Indonesia in July 2011. The soundcheck was held the evening before the concert.

Hi guys, it’s Puri here.
Sorry for out of computer for 5 days. I am so lame…., so slow. First, I was so dead tired after the concert, then I had technical problems with videos, then I also have many urgent office works to do and … whatever …
Ok here I am now. I will write my brief recap of the show but as many videos are been uploaded now, actually no more recap required as everybody know the show is amaaazing and David and all audiences (fans and no fans) were enjoy the night.
Anyway, this is my recap.

Puri -- Thanks so much for your recap -- sounds like the fans were very excited and had a great time. As for the singing of the fans -- you just can’t help it when you are in his presence! LOL
I look forward to more videos. Each one taken by fans is unique and offers a slightly different perspective from the audience. Can’t get too much of David, right?
Puri, thanks for the recap! I enjoying reading all of them. You can definitely hear the love for David in your video.
PURI, Thanks for the recap. You gave David a great reception and we were impressed to hear that fans knew most of David’s songs. It sounds like a great turnout and great concert.
You all are very welcome. Happy to do something for TDC.
All of the 17 videos are up now. Some are worth to see. Check out Love Don’t Hate, My Hands, Works for Me, Everything and More, Elevator, Zero Gravity and Crush (with blangkon and fireworks ending, … sweet and beautiful).
All concerts during this Asian Tour are amazing.

KOMPASIANA reports
David Archuleta Visited the Indonesian Archipelago in the Museum Gajah
David Archuleta, the runner up of the seventh season of American Idol, is performing in Senayan for the Pond’s Teens Concert this Saturday night (July 16, 2011). Surprisingly, he made time to visit the National Museum of Indonesia (Museum Nasional, which is also known as Museum Gajah because of the elephant statue in its front yard) to know more about Indonesia.

It’s rarely for the Indonesian Heritage Society, a non-profit organization supporting the Museum Nasional in conducting guided tour in English or in other foreign languages, to receive a tour request from a celebrity who’s also an idol to the Indonesian teens. Hellen, one of the Indonesian volunteer tour guides, took David Archuleta and his group to visit the Indonesian archipelago for about an hour in the famous Museum Gajah. The tour impressed David, especially for its variety of stone sculptures collection and also with the sets of gamelan in the museum.

Googling through the internet, it’s obvious that David Archuleta has his special interest in museums. He also mentioned his visit to the Museum Gajah in his tweetply and upadated his blog with this special visit, “Just went to the Museum Gajah and learned about some Indonesian culture and history. Really cool.”
Museum Gajah as the National Museum of Indonesia is actually a way to learn a bit about Indonesia for those who only have limited visiting time. The museum’s collection is a large collection gathered since the foundation of the Royal Batavian Society of Arts and Sciences in 1778. No wonder if the richness of culture and history of the Archipelago impressed David Archuleta.

It’s nice to learn that a star like him, who began winning talent competition since he was ten years old, still have time to develop a passion for museums, and do care to share it through his online activities. His visit to the Museum Nasional was actually awesome considering the tight schedule he has in Jakarta. Hopefully his visit to the National Museum of Indonesia, which brought him a bit closer to the Indonesian Archipelago, can bring him back to visit his fans across the archipelago.
(Thanks to Hellen for the information, and thanks to Febby for the pictures).
