Hello Elder Archuleta!
It’s like Harry Potter coming to Hogwarts. Except his time, it is not a magical place (at least for a number of us). But it’s a magical moment for a special person whom a lot of people have come to love and admire.
David’s 1st public performance as Elder Archuleta – PRAISE THE MAN (how fitting!). DA comes at mark 4:39
Some missionaries have started sharing their encounters with David @ MTC
David Archuleta enters the MTC
Dear Family,
How is it going?!?! Everything is going awesome here!! Despite the Visas not being here we
are doing awesome!!! LOL so David Archuleta is coming in today! HAHA
every week there has been rumors that he is coming in, but it isn’t a
rumor this time, I figured out for sure. Haha he is staying in our
residence hall too!! HAHAHA…
.We have been practicing for General Conference every day. It’s been insane but it will be worth it cause it is going to be awesome! We sing in the afternoon session so if there is anybody that doesn’t know make sure you tell them!! …So the MTC turned into Hogwarts this week. David Archuletta got here and he was pretty much like Harry Potter and everyone was being dumb and looking at him weird! I felt bad and when I went to set up an appointment to get my haircut this morning he was in there getting his haircut. I can be proud to say I just treated him like every other missionary and human being for that matter…..I have never been so excited for Conference then for this one. I’m rather sad because we don’t really get to watch the first one but I’ll try and get the ensign when it comes out so I can read them. I will probably be close to the front because I’m rather short (I know suprising right) and the director said that they try and make sure every missionary gets some camera time so mom when you see me don’t cry! Or you Alec I know you will be broken hearted. ….Oh ya so something else that’s cool is next week we are hosting the new Mish’s! I’m excited. I’ve wanted to do it for a while and now i get to so if you hear of anybody coming in thell them to look for me!
…
Dearest darlingest momsy and popsicle
and clan and all you wonderful friends and fam that i LOVE!
as stated very firmly above, life is insane. and bc you are all living it, i’m sure you’ll agree. i love hearing what is going on in your lives! i’m so sorry i’ve been not the best at responding, but please know i’m thinking of you and trying to get letters out–especiall mom’s really super huge and top-secret one
![]()
it’s official. david archuleta is here. same day as petah. so crazy. can’t believe it. and i’ve been very very close to him like 3 or 4 times and remained very calm and collected. he is tiny. he is beautiful. and he’s in the mtc choir, which is making many ppl pretty uptight, since lots and lotsa ppl wanted to be in it and didn’t make it for one reason or another. all we did was fill out papers that listed our experience. not too fancy. but those poor ppl will have to deal bc i highly doubt elder archuleta got down on his knees on his first whirlwind of a day here and begged to be in the choir. let’s be logical. “oh, i’m not famous enough and i’d like my mission to be an extension of my career, so may i PLEEEEASE be on tv!?!?!” yeah. not happening. but for whatever reason, he was there dark and early the very next morning at rehearsal. wowsa. and sis. w was telling me how ridiculous it is that ppl can’t seem to let it go. she said at breakfast yesterday, ” there are worse things than having a really good singer in the mtc choir for general conference.” and i said, “amen.” and that was even coming from a not-on-the-david-archuleta-bandwagon sister wight. so there. they can all suck a toe, right? well, i’ll be nicer. but it’s still in the “i don’t have control over it” category, so i guess it is, like many circumstances i will face on my mission, not worth complaining about. and HECK! i wouldn’t complain anyway! i get to see someone whom i’ve been dreaming of singing with for about a couple years now almost every day! SWEET! even though we do no more than possibly smile at each other in passing… if that’s happened, yet. he’s very private, i believe. and doesn’t seem to want any attention.
well, enough of that. now my time’s almost up …

Jammed fingers and Elder Archuleta
Dear Family,
…
Oh if you could let Aubrie know that Elder Archuleta actually came to the MTC yesterday and is living in the residence floor beneath me. I’ve seen him a couple times, but I haven’t talked with him yet. I plan on giving him a high 5 before I leave…
MTC BUZZZ>>> WELCOME ELDER ARCHULETA
Posted by The Draper Family at 3/29/2012 08:22:00 AM“It’s the Day After Tomorrow” as sung by David himself. 3/28/12 is a great day to all of us who have enjoyed listening to a voice from someone whom we could relate to, a Brother of our own and now and Elder amongst us, so with that said we welcome Elder David Archuleta to the MTC this day. What a great time to be here at MTC
…
Love,
Elder DraperPS(Mom can you post Elder Archuleta’s uTube Mission announcement on the blog! I, as did the world, rejoice in that moment). Love Ya

Werr Herro!Konichiwa!
…
Well I don’t know if I included some things in last week’s email, so I’ll make sure to cover them. I said there is a choir of 364 people going to Gen Conf. I am not, however, included in them. I haven’t had enough singing experience. The choir now includes 365 people. Can you guess who the last one is? Yep, Elder David Archuleta. My comp is super pissed! But my comp put nineteen years of car rides and showers as his listed experience, so he needs to get over it. Speaking of Elder Archuleta, he was getting his haircut while my comp was yesterday. My comp talked to him for a couple minutes and was complemented on his good beard genes. When Elder Archuleta walked out of the barber shop, we made eye contact. Sparks flew and I said “Konichiwa,” he said “Hola,” and chuckled and left. It was pretty hilarious. He’s super short and super shy though.

hi! well this week was normal. everything has far extended its welcome at the MTC! i love the mtc but at times it can really just make you want to get into the field! i love being in the classroom studying spanish. i do not like the food. my companion does whatever he wants whenever he can and he tells everyone their problems. he sleeps all day in class and is hardley learning any spanish. o well! the only thing i can do is just love him and do what is right. anyway i love this gospel and i would do anything i am asked to make the work progress. i sang in the saturday afternoon seccion of conference! it was pretty cool! so i was sitting in the waiting area just waiting to go into the statium and some kid started to talk to me, i talked to him for about a half hour before i realized who he was. its strange to be talking to a celebrity and not even know it. ya david archuleta was talking to me, it was pretty cool. so we talked for a few more minutes. i am so excited to serve a mission and so ready to go into the field as soon as possible!!!! adios!!!

One Last, Idol, Conference Thought
While I was sitting in the darkened chapel watching the conference, I hit me hard:
A change of heart.…
But…is praise judgment? Can I pass positive judgment on another? I hope so, because here it goes…
I am so impressed that this young man would be willing to humbly walk away from fame and fortune to do as the Lord has asked. He is willing to sacrifice to serve. The more I think about it, the more I love him for his example to my sons, and all the young men I have worked with in the church. The power of his example should not be under-estimated.
Yes, the directors of the broadcast did manage to smoothly squeeze him into the frame at the end of the song – and I DO have a problem with that. Why?
Because I wish they had had him sing in General Conference.
I wish they had publicized it in advance. With TV commercials.
I wish they had asked him to speak in the priesthood session.
I wish he could have given a talk, explaining to my boys, and the boys of the church, why he chose to serve a mission.
This dad wants his sons to see what humble sacrifice can look like.Color me impressed.
Thank you, Elder Archuleta, and Godspeed.
MMM has a 2nd blog – MMM Meets the Archies – about his blog above – and I LOOOOOVE what he has to say about Archiess’ reactions to LDS members posting their sightings and sharing their own reactions to seeing Elder Archuleta.
4-5-12 Letter
… So funny story of the week. Elder Andersen sang next to Elder Archuleta in conference, Google the picture-you’ll see his face. We were teaching our investigator and we asked if he watched conference, he pulled up his laptop and showed me a clip of me singing, we asked if he saw andersen, he slid a leather folder frame to him-a pic of him singing with archuleta hahaha, we have since gotten at least 6 pics of that with more on the way. but we are actually good friends with Elder Archuleta, we go jogging with him everyday and help him with his Spanish and how to approach teaching people. he is a great Elder and im so excited for him. No i cant tell you where he is going or get anything signed, but after the mission we’ll hangout again, we’re like some of his only friends.
my friend met david archuleta in the MTC haha.
it’s a funny story, actually, here:
“David Archuleta is here! haha he came on Wednesday and I actually have an experience thats pretty funny. So last Wednesday when he came everyone was sorta nutso! haha well anyways, he is going to ———— (sorry, dunno if I should share or not? I will if you guys think I should tho). Well, the other night, me and my companions went to a meeting. Well Elder D. went to our room, and we are on the third floor of 5m and my other companion and I went up one flight of stairs on accident and started knocking on the door right below us cause we thought it was our room. Well no one answered so we started to knock so hard and so annoying, and guess who opened the door!! David Archuleta opened the door and we were both like UHHHH. Hi um, this isn’t our room haha, and he looked at us like we were crazy like, yeah right, you just wanted to see me, haha. so we both felt so stupid so i don’t think I will ever talk to him again LOL. He just wants to be left alone but we talked to him a little but he just seemed like he didn’t want us there so we left. So David Archuleta sleeps one floor below me right now, so that’s pretty cool, I guess. haha.”
Ahh what fun. haha. neither of us are big fans, but a pretty cool experience nonetheless. Just thought I’d share.

David Archuleta putting music on hold for Mormon mission
Posted On Tuesday, December 20, 2011
American Idol’ runner-up David Archuleta is following his faith into a 2-year hiatus from his musical pursuits.
Archuleta will spend the next 24 months on the mission field as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He announced the decision last night during a concert in his hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah.
“I would like to make a special announcement: that I’ve chosen to serve a full-time mission. It’s not because somebody told me that I was supposed to do it, not because that I no longer want to do music anymore, but it’s because it’s the feeling that I felt that I need to do next in my life.”
“It’s just the same feeling that I’ve always followed, tried to follow in my life. It’s the feeling that has allowed me to have the opportunities that I’ve had, the challenges that I’ve overcome and the blessings, too. And I’ve learned to trust that feeling, and I’ve learned that I need to answer when it calls. And that is the reason why I know I need to do this in my life.”
He’s 20.
Lord Knows! Musicians Who Went Rogue For Religion (DETAILS)
Posted December 21, 2011 by Dimas Sanfiorenzo for Global Grind StaffHere’s a story about a sacrifice so great, it belongs in The Good Book.
Emerging pop star and ex-American Idol season seven runner-up, David Archuleta, will put his career on hold as he goes on a two year Mormon mission.
MUSIC: David Archuleta – Something About Love
The singer will be sent abroad, or somewhere in the States, to fully embrace his faith. This includes doing things like studying and teaching others about Mormonism. He will have very little contact with family and friends.
VIDEO: Loon Goes From Bad Boy To Mecca
It’s a lot different from the pop star lifestyle, we’ll tell you that!
We’ll also tell you that we’ve seen this before, artists who give up the women, money, jewels and basically all the awesomeness that comes with being famous for a higher religious calling.
We’ve seen it all from gangster rappers turning Jewish, to junkie rockers getting clean because of Christianity.
And it’s all in our list of musicians who went rogue for religion. Check it out!

Who Do Mormons Say Represents Their Faith Positively?
The article reports:
There is substantial variation. When you consider that Mormons overwhelmingly identify as Republicans, it is unsurprising that Mitt Romney is viewed by a large majority of Mormons as positively representing their faith. Romney is viewed on par with personalities such as football player Steve Young and singer David Archuleta (literally a rock star but currently a full-time Mormon missionary).

From idol to missionary
David Archuleta started his two-year mission in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Wednesday 28 March, this year, when he entered the Missionary Training Center (MTC for its acronym in English) in Provo, Utah.
Three months after announcing his decision to serve a full-time mission in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the pop singer has entered the MTC.
Archuleta made the announcement before a performance on December 19, 2011 in the Concert Hall Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Although the exact details of his mission are unknown, Archuleta released his supporters in a video on Youtube, on Wednesday, which was to serve somewhere in South America. A family friend said Archuleta family served a mission in Chile, but the family intends to keep the exact location of his mission as a private matter.
Article continues below
“It’s a decision everyone knows, but it is a very personal thing. I wanted to keep it that way, so I hope you can respect that decision,” said the Queen of pop cansión 21 years of age. “I have been able to share with you on this trip so far, but I hope you can understand and that this is a personal matter, I’m trying to concentrate on anything now, not in my career, nor will I make music.”
The last few weeks before his departure, he worked for his latest recording which will be released while he served as a missionary.
In a message he left on a seven-minute video and posted on Youtube, Archuleta says it’s not a goodbye but a see you later.
Also asked his followers to support his decision and promised that within two years will continue with his musical projects.
Family
Archuleta was a young man who has stood by the love for your family and everyone who has the opportunity, your free time is dedicated to family fraternity.
That’s why the last week before his departure, his relatives in Florida, California and Georgia gathered in Utah, to share with him, special moments that will lead to great memories.
“More than sad, I’m proud of this step that David has. The last days were days filled with happiness, joy and great spiritual experiences. I am very excited to see who will be his first baptism,” says Martha Mayorga, aunt of the young .
Meanwhile her grandfather, Alfredo Mayorga said they have always respected the decisions of his grandson and who will accompany him in your prayers and thoughts.
“He has made a very noble and spiritual growth will help in your approach and the Savior Jesus Christ.”
In video
Archuleta thanked her many fans for their support over the years, numerous times in the video, saying he appreciates everything he has done throughout his career as a singer.
In his video on Youtube, he reiterated his return, “Just a vlog more from my home at this time before I left for my mission. It was a week with many emotions and I just wanted to thank you all for the support I have occurred in the past four years. see you all when I return in two years. ”
Article continues below
“I will be doing the best to concentrate on the people there,” he said. “It will be a great sacrifice, but I’m doing this to have more time one-on-one with my Father in Heaven”
David does look really happy in the pictures. Even though I’m not happy over his decision, I am happy for him. I understand how important this is for David. I wish him a safe and fulfilling journey and look forward to hearing new music from him when he gets back.

What is David Archuleta up to at Mormon Missionary Training Center? His elders & sisters tell all
Murray native and “American Idol” finalist David Archuleta began his journey to become a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by entering Missionary Training Center in late March.
It was thought that once he went inside the doors of the secretive Provo institution, the 21-year-old would be out of the public eye for about two years, spending about 10 weeks at MTC and then the rest of his time in his assigned mission, reportedly in Chile.
But this is an age where social media breaks down ramparts and bulwarks, no matter how much Elder Archuleta desires his pious privacy. As a consequence, the public and his fans have been able to read about his experiences through blog posts written by fellow elders and sisters at MTC.
“I’ve been officially star struck,” wrote Sister Emily Lewis. “I just drooled over him when he was on “‘American Idol.’”
“David Archuleta entered the MTC yesterday, and I’ll try to get a picture with him,” wrote Elder Abel Hemenway, assigned to Paraguay. “But it won’t be an easy task since all the sister missionaries are always around him and everywhere he goes … I can tell he doesn’t like the attention because he wanted to have a normal mission, but hey, what did he expect, I mean, he is famous.”
“Last week as Wednesday approached, the rumors started flying that the great DA would be entering the MTC,” wrote Sister Elise Marquitta Leavitt. “When Wednesday came, I was literally sick to my stomach thinking that the ONLY ‘celebrity’ I have ever loved or cared about would be here!”
Although the websites where these letters are posted seem to be a personal website — with sites usually associated with Blogspot and Missionsite.net — in reality the websites are usually set up by families to let others know about how their missionary sons and daughters are faring.
“Missionaries are encouraged to write weekly to family often through e-mail,” said Scott Trotter, spokesman for the Church. “Generally, blogs documenting the experiences of missionaries are maintained by family members or friends from home. Often these blogs draw upon letters or photos sent by the missionary. The Church has no policy related to these blogs beyond general guidelines provided in the Church Handbook.”
The Church Handbook states: “Members are encouraged to be examples of their faith at all times and in all places, including on the Internet. If they use blogs, social networks, and other Internet technologies, they are encouraged to strengthen others and help them become aware of that which is useful, good, and praiseworthy. When appropriate, members are encouraged to mention the Church and to link to and share approved Church materials. When members use the Internet for purposes other than Church callings, they should understand that the message they give is personal. They should not give the impression that they represent or are sponsored by the Church.”
Trotter had no comment on Archuleta or his experiences as a missionary, except to say that The Church would not confirm that Archuleta would be serving his mission in Chile, and Trotter spoke only of general guidelines given to all missionaries.
As expected, the weekly letters posted do focus primarily on the Church, since Archuleta is not more popular than Jesus. Elder Dayne Joyner, assigned to Mexico, wrote on April 2 that he “recently become very interest[ed] in the history of some of the hymns.” Elder Anthony Kai Buckwalter, assigned to Taiwan, writes about “going to the temple so early in the morning” is something he loves. And Sister Natalie Sargeant, assigned to Chile, writes about General Conference in that the “Spirit was strong, our songs turned out great, we were only like 50 yds from President Monson and the apostles … really, amazing.”
But when arguably the biggest celebrity to ever enter the MTC takes classes and meals with 19-year-olds and 20-year-olds, it is hard not to write home about Archuleta.
Elder Tanner Browning, assigned to Moscow, on April 4, wrote: “For all of my girl cousins back home I can say yeah, that I have briefly talked to him haha.”
“I feel bad for him sometimes because people come up and talk to him alot and one guy asked for his autograph,” Joyner wrote.
Most of those who encountered him said that he was shy and humble, as well as being much shorter than they expected him to be. Some take Advanced Spanish with him, and others jog with him. Sister Hermana Goimarac wrote that Archuleta “wears the tightest missionary pants, haha.”
However, no matter how hard the Church might try, it appears as if the presence of Archuleta has affected the MTC in small ways. Sister Skyler Elizabeth Dunford wrote that the missionaries “started getting all of those talks — “Please leave famous missionaries alone.” “It is not appropriate to ask other missionaries for autographs.”
And one persistent scuttlebutt is that Archuleta got special treatment for being allowed to in the MTC choir early for General Conference. “I said there is a choir of 364 people to Gen Conf,” wrote Elder Ian Derik Sanderson on March 31. “I am not, however, included in them. I haven’t had enough singing experience. The choir now includes 365 people, Can you guess who the last one is? Yep, Elder David Archuleta. My [companion] is super pissed!”
Elder Jordan Olsen, assigned to Nagoya, Japan, also addressed the rumors of special treatment, and seemed unimpressed: “To be honest, I was sorta hoping he wouldn’t be here while I was here … Also, HE got into the MTC choir on thursday. WHAT the what. … Oh, and rumor has it that his [companion] doubles as his bodyguard. What? haha.”
Sister Kelsey Whitaker, assigned to Nauvoo, even seemed a bit irritated. “I was so caught up with the spirit, I didn’t even notice Elder Archuleta,” she wrote. “He’s a pretty big deal amongst the mormons. No one wants to hear what WE’RE doing, they just want to tell us what the latest is with David. Its a little out of control how many people are talking about him.”
But once elders and sisters move past rumors, they seem to all agree that Elder Archuleta is genuine and goes out of his way to be normal. “Just yesterday, he was in the salad line with me and so I talked with him for about 5 minutes,” wrote Elder Ryan Moffet. “He’s pretty awesome, but he said he hates having everyone know who he is. I wasn’t like AWE-stricken when I saw him, but he is way cool. Usually he sits by us at lunch so it’s an interesting experience … He’s a great guy.”
Sister Leavitt calls him her “love, the great Elder Archuleta,” and adds that “he is THEE most humble, shy, wonderful thing ever and so delightful, and it was basically the most blissful minutes of my life [talking to him]. Heavenly Father truly does smile down on His missionaries.
”
Elder Joseph Gibbons, assigned to Bangkok, wrote that Archuleta is “very nice, respectful, and humble. Also very short.”
Oh! Dear JR. David remains humble and genuine in the midst of chaos. Imagine things have settle down since the Conference and first two weeks. Hoping David gets to move on to the next training center soon!!! I’m sure the next MTC will be calmer and specific to where he’ll be assigned. No wonder we are getting any messages of how he is doing. Kari keeps in touch by encouraging us to vote etc. but very little about David. (I can see why-it probably would have ended up in Burger’s article)
Bless his heart. It’s all grist for the mill for all of them to learn by.
Welcome to Dorm Life David!!
I meant No wonder we aren’t getting much info about how David is doing. (Privacy)
HEIDI -- well now that the blog entries are mainstream content, fans who, in my opinion, unnecessarily felt guilty about reading them, can now heave a sigh of relief.
I wonder whether the Archies who previously called the MTC on account of the missionaries’ blogs. will now call on The Tribune?
Pls, pls don’t! Pleeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssse
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease NOoooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
this whole thing has gotten blown way out of proportion. I think the initial buzz was normal and the Conference talks probably helped settle them all down. It would have been smoothly worked out, since David is so humble and admired by all who get to know him. The calls and letters just escalated normal adjustment. All Grist for the Mill. Hopefully all can pray and get guidance on overcoming resentment etc.
Would love to see the reaction to Burger’s article. ha! ha!
Yes he’ll probably get calls and comments.
Don’t think too highly of him or that paper, but at least David was presented well. Can’t control all these other people. Hope the next stop is more peaceful for David. Bless His heart!!
Not a Burger fan, but this article was kinda fun. I agree with this comment here -
“Sorry but if I have a choir, David Archuleta is on it. I don’t care if he arrives one hour before show time.”
I’m sure everything is mellowing out and David is settling in. I feel he has a talent at putting people at ease.
I know some of the fansites had a moratorium on posting Elder blogs, but I didn’t think it was a big deal. As the article states, as long as they are behaving appropriately for being Elders, then whatever.
People (Church leaders) can’t be that surprised that there a bit of buzz when David is around, can they? As though Mormon teens/twenties aren’t just like other kids -- listening to music, paying attention to the world of celebrity?
David will likely get a bit more peace when he moves out of the country…. but he may not get as much as wants, depending on where he is sent. He’ll deal with it. He deals with everything else in his life quite well.
And,yeah….“Sorry but if I have a choir, David Archuleta is on it. I don’t care if he arrives one hour before show time.”

TIL WE MEET AGAIN ELDER ARCHULETA
For the next 8 weeks, professional singer David Archuleta becomes one of the guys going through his Mormon Rite of Passage in one of the South American Missionary Training Centers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
At one point, I thought his decision might produce bad consequences on his career trajectory and on his singing voice. Not necessarily. Remember — Elvis Presley at the height of his young-heart throb period got drafted into the US Army, did a tour of duty in Germany, and came back to a bigger more lucrative career in the 1960s.
I do hope the Church’s Public Relations / Missionary Department will stifle their unholy urges to
harness his fame and heart throb potential as an advertising medium. I can almost picture his face, complete with white shirt, tie, and badge looking out over Times Square with the label “and I’m a Mormon.” Mormon.org
This sort of elder will require a South American mission president out of the ordinary. Most elders are just guys with varying degree of potential and promises. Archuleta has proven himself in The Forcing House of Showbiznia and turned himself into one of the hotter musical commodities on The American Scene. No LDS Mission would want to be branded forever as The Mission that Ruined the Archuleta Brand.
David’s serving a mission anonymous of his fame will be problematic if even possible. I do wonder and worry about David’s fitting into LDS Mission Kulchur, though. Despite Raising the Bar and Preach My Gospel, a mission is still classic guy stuff, which accounts for one reason why elders outnumber sisters by some quantum factor. It is a guy atmosphere of junior companions, senior companions, trainers, district leaders, zone leaders, assistants to the president. Highly stratified, competitive, sometimes with a hazing atmosphere. Rituals. Traditions. In the mission where my friend served 15 years ago, the guys burned an article of clothing at the end of each quarter.
One of the reasons I did not serve a mission in the mid 1970s was the reputation that proceeded missions: Two Years of Gym Class. Just how the regular guys in David’s mission will react to A Real Artist is anyone’s guess. The chemistry might get compounded by jealousy at David’s stature as A Real Artist who has already made more money than 75 percent of the rest of them will ever make in their whole wasted lifetimes.
I wonder if David in his heart of hearts worries that The Companions / Elders / The Guys will hate him as a singing star, not whether he is or is not any good as a missionary? I wonder if David worries that the sister missionaries will want to associate with him as a highly valuable potential catch – not as a person? How will his mission president ever know if the people Archuleta baptizes truly converted to The Gospel and not to the cultivated charisma of Our Boy Wonder?
We wish David well on his mission, but we should hold few if any illusions about the difficulty of the whole enterprise.

David Archuleta is about to leave on his two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and on Wednesday posted the following statement along with a 7-minute video on his YouTube channel:
“Just one more vlog from home for a while before I leave on my mission. It has been an emotional week with family and friends. Just wanted to thank all of you for the support you have giving me for the last 4 years. Will see you all in 2 years.”

no he had his companion and several other missionaries were flying to..but they always have thier companion with them. Years ago the families could come and say goodbye, now the missionaries fly out with missionaries. I must admit I waved and he waved back, but you think he was happy before, you should see him now! He looked great!!!! and a huge smile from ear to ear… he is doing the right thing! so proud to be a fan!
SO happy for him!
JR It’s hitting me now too!! Happy for David!! Sad for us as David flies to his assignment. Nice to hear how happy he looked and hear he was eating @Cafe Rio which just opened at the SLC Airport!! It made me feel good that he got to eat at Cafe Rio one last time before leaving SLC.
Bless his heart. Praying for a safe flight and a safe environment. Imagine he’ll have more training there.
HEIDI -- it is really bittersweet. I can’t think of any celebrity that has this much impact on me on an emotional level…

FROM DESERET NEWS
The story you haven’t heard about David Archuleta’s LDS mission
Summary
A lifetime from now, David will be remembered by many of us for many more memorable things. But to some of us, he’ll be remembered for a divine reminder: you can impact the world for good, one person at a time.
When David Archuleta made his run to the finals of “American Idol” in 2008, he sang for millions of people every week.
He had a positive impact on legions of fans that supported and advanced him to his runner-up finish. They later purchased his albums and tracked his journey on Facebook, Twitter and through his YouTube channel. They attended concerts, firesides and rooted for his success.
It’s tough to quantify the positive impact this young man has had on millions of eyes, ears and hearts.
But you already know that story.
You also know that he recently put his career and professional dreams on hold to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in South America. It’s inspiring that during this crucial time in his career, at the ripe age for stardom, he’s hitting the pause button on his temporal life to serve the Lord.
It’s hard to gauge the enormous impact he will have on the people he serves, teaches and fellowships for the next two years.
But you already know that story, too.
What you don’t know is what David did in the final weeks before saying goodbye to serve and have an impact on his smallest audience of all: one.
On Jan. 17, 2012, I wrote a column about Ashley Evans of Berryville, Va. She’s a beautiful young woman who inspires many around her, and the piece about her journey from tragedy to triumph has been one of my most popular editions of Wright Words. Evidently she inspired many of you, too.
Among other personal tidbits about Ashley, I reported that she’s a big fan of David’s. After the article appeared in the Deseret News, Scott McGavin, a good man in his own right and David’s dentist and close family friend, sent it to him to ensure he would meet the Ashley that readers around the country were falling in love with.
David apparently loved the piece, but it had everything to do with the lovely subject, and nothing to do with the wordsmith.
In the height of preparing for his mission, with all that entails, David took the time to assemble a care package of goodies for one of his biggest fans. With Dr. McGavin’s help, he sent several signed pictures, a limited-edition drawing and a photo of a fundraising brick placed in Ashley’s honor at a dental clinic in India. He even wrote a personal note on one of the photos and quoted Ashley from my original column.
Perhaps to you it seems a small gesture, but to Ashley and her family it was a tremendous act of kindness. Ashley’s smile was so big and bright when she opened the envelope, David might have seen it from across the country if only he’d been looking out his window that morning.
It was a measure of kindness she’ll remember for many years.
As for David, he’ll spend the next two leading many people to the waters of baptism. In doing so, he’ll help them take a vital step toward returning to live with our Father in Heaven.
Down the road, David will resume singing, producing music and maybe even dabble in film and television.
But of all his many accomplishments already written in the newspapers of heaven and earth, plus those yet to come, none is more important than the one simple stroke of kindness performed when the world wasn’t looking. What a lesson that the world isn’t changed in the millions of albums sold, books published or deals closed.
A lifetime from now, David will be remembered by many of us for many more memorable things. But to some of us, he’ll be remembered for a divine reminder: you can impact the world for good, one person at a time.

Not sure how many of you are David Archuleta fans, but I asked my Dad (who is his mission president) if I could share something about his arrival in Chile and this is what he had to say about him, “He is a very humble, non-ego person..Not centered on himself. He is just GOOD. That is the word for him. And he is very excited to be here and loves his trainer and has already taught some lessons in his first sector”. Pretty cool. Out of respect for Elder Archuleta I wouldn’t want to get more specific than that on his experiences. Hi rubi_DA2014!
I think it’s interesting that the other missionaries think David is SHY and TIMID. I think they mistake his humility and desire to keep a low profile for timidity. Cause……this man is not shy or timid:
I agree Marlie!! David had to work to try and keep a low profile as he was wanting a more appropriate Mission atmosphere while others were seeking him out.
He is far from Shy!!..but quiet and humble at appropriate times.

I was watching General Conference, the bi-annual, two-day event in which worldwide church leaders address the church via television broadcast (which I have written about here and here), yesterday when, during the final hymn sung by a choir from the Missionary Training Center, my wife exclaimed, “Oh my gosh! There’s David Archuleta!”
I didn’t recognize him, but when I looked I could see the name tag: Elder Archuleta.
I was a little bothered about this sudden outburst from my wife, but I have since been assured that she was only excited because he grew up in her aunt’s ward in Utah, that’s all.
Putting that aside for the moment, I was happy to see that during this General Conference, the church didn’t go out of its way to highlight the presence of one of the most famous Mormons alive right now (I happen to believe that he was just standing where the camera happened to be pointing, although you could argue that the camera pointed there because he was there, but we can all agree that they could have spotlighted him much more than they did).
As a part of the choir, he hardly stood out at all among the rest of the missionaries-in-training. But, some marketing guru might ask, wouldn’t the church be wise to use his celebrity to spread its message? Couldn’t it leverage his influence for its own benefit?
As a part of the choir, he hardly stood out at all among the rest of the missionaries-in-training. But, some marketing guru might ask, wouldn’t the church be wise to use his celebrity to spread its message? Couldn’t it leverage his influence for its own benefit?
In order to answer that question you have to understand that what the church wants is different from what a company wants.
A company wants to sell its product. Whether or not that product will actually benefit the people who buy it, a company’s sole purpose is to maximize sales. What happens after that sale is of little interest to the company. The sale is the thing.
And in some ways, the church’s main focus might seem similar to a company’s. It isn’t selling anything, but missionaries are sent out into the world to maximize baptisms. While missionaries try not to focus on numbers, few church leaders would say that we wanted fewer baptisms.
So, why not use David Archuleta’s popularity to get as many baptisms as possible? He could go into city after city and there would be a surge of baptisms, probably of the young woman variety, wherever he went. Why wouldn’t the church want that?
Well, because the church doesn’t care only about baptisms. The church cares about what happens after. Is the newly baptised member keeping baptismal covenants? Is this person living righteously? Is this person coming closer to God? These questions concern the church just as much, if not more, than how many people are being baptised.
And Elder Archuleta will have no special advantage to help make that happen over Elder Anybody. They will all have to help people develop faith by teaching them the gospel and helping them keep God’s commandments. In order to do that, they won’t be able to rely on Star Power, but Spiritual Power. And that comes through diligence, dedication, faith, and love.
Elder Archuleta should be commended for sacrificing a very lucrative time in his life to serve a higher cause. I have no doubt that he will be a wonderful missionary. And I’m glad that the church, and he himself, knows that success depends on more than the beauty of his voice and the sparkle in his eyes.
“And I’m glad that the church, and he himself, knows that success depends on more than the beauty of his voice and the sparkle in his eyes.”

A Thought From David Archuleta Mormon Missionary
By Rebecca
David Archuleta is a famous Mormon singer who has decided to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Before he left to serve as a Mormon missionary, he filmed a short video message for those wondering about what he will be doing while he serves a Mormon mission. [1] Missionaries are called by a modern prophet of God (Thomas S. Monson) to “invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end” (Preach My Gospel: A Guide to Missionary Service, 1). In other words, David has temporarily put his career on hold to preach the gospel to people in South America. David, like all other Mormon missionaries, had no choice as to where he was sent to serve. The Lord decides and reveals that information to His prophet and apostles.
I’m going to be trying my best to focus on the people over there and more one-on-one experience,” he said. “It’s going to be a big sacrifice, but I’m doing this to be able to have more of that one-on-one time with my Heavenly Father — with God. I hope that you guys will respect that it’s time for me to work on my relationship with him and the time that I need to give him. [5]
In another video message prior to leaving on his mission, David ensured his fans that this was not goodbye:
David was an American Idol contestant during the time that I was serving a Mormon mission. As a missionary, there are rules that most of the world doesn’t comprehend, such as only two phone calls home a year, emails to family only once a week, and no entertainment such as television, newspapers, or online media. These rules are to help missionaries focus on their work and not get easily distracted from serving others and preaching the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. On my mission, I didn’t use Facebook and didn’t know who David Archuleta was until I returned home from my Mormon mission. During the fall of 2008, I was walking around in a corn maze (depicted as a portrait of David Archuleta) when I asked someone else who he was. Of course they stared at me and said, “You don’t know who David Archuleta is?” I had been out of the country for a couple of years. Fortunately, I was quickly brought up to speed and informed that David Archuleta is a Mormon entertainer who had almost won American Idol. Shortly afterwards, I was also able to hear him singing at a local Christmas concert celebrating the birth of Christ. I know that the Lord Jesus Christ is important to him, since he’ll be wearing a nametag for two years that says “Elder Archuleta” next to the full name of Christ’s true church.
In David’s short video message, he said, “It’ll be interesting—being gone for 2 years,” and wondered about the type of people he will meet. [1] On my mission, I spoke with people from different nations, cultures, and religions. I spoke with atheists, Catholics, Jehovah Witnesses, and Muslims. I lived in the city and in small towns filled with families, young single adults, college students, and immigrants. I volunteered teaching English classes, genealogy, and performing other types of community service for people of all ages. I also really enjoyed being invited into homes to teach entire families. The message of the gospel of Jesus Christ is for everyone, and it was a blessing to share my testimony with many of God’s children.
Mormon singer David Archuleta remarked that his family and friends “will grow on their own while I’m gone, away from them, not in touch with them”. [1]Even though he is able to email his parents every week, it is hard to reflect everything accurately through email, and he may come home to changes in his family and career. Fortunately, he is excited to have this experience independent of his family. He stated he would “never normally separate himself from what he’s comfortable with,” and being a missionary could put him out of his comfort zone. Some missionaries have a hard time learning a new language, adjusting to another culture, doing their own cooking/laundry, or even starting conversations with perfect strangers. Fortunately, David Archuleta, as a new Mormon missionary, has faith that he will grow from his challenges. He will have the opportunity to broaden his perspective and trust in God. As a young teenager, he overcame vocal cord paralysis and said:
Instead of acting like everything in life is so hard and confusing, look at it this way: the only way you can go from here is up… It’s our decisions and how we handle things, even when they get rough. If we keep holding on, looking at things positively and working hard, we can improve our lives, help ourselves, and even help the greater good. [3]
David Archuleta put a hold on live concerts, recording music, and more to serve his mission. He wondered about his fans, and I imagine was concerned to stop developing professionally for awhile. Fortunately, he prepared for his absence from the musical industry by pre-recording videos and a new CD for his fans. One of his fans remarked—
I am so happy that he carefully planned out his career while he was gone. It was a great gift and helps to keep him in the attention of the media while he is doing some serious good. I have no doubt that we can expect amazing music from it. It may even be even more passionate since he knew that he would be disconnected away from his fans for as long. I personally cannot wait to see what it will have and what his songs will be like off it. I think we can all agree that it will hold a lot of love that he has for his fan base. In a way, it was his going away gift to his fans and thus I am sure he treats it more special than his normal releases. [4]
At the end of his video, David said, “I can’t wait to bring back the person I’ve become while I have that time away”. [1] From my personal experience, I know that my mission changed my life and helped open my perspective to those around me. I became a happier person and more Christ-like because of my service. I learned more about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and witnessed the blessings it brought to those who were baptized members of the LDS Church. It brings me great peace and happiness to know that God loves and guides us today through living prophets and revelation.

Someone even posted this advisory on that FB events page -
My rough translation:
Kids I know that perhaps it is not for me to say it, but hopefully people will not forget the real meaning of the devotional; that they will not forget that Elder Archuleta is serving a mission and that deserves respect; They should realize that not everyone is called upon to serve so that is a special deal (?). For those who may not know, esp for women, if they have the possibility of greeting him, that they can only do so by a handshake. I understand that they are fans, but they should also understand our norms/rules. I really hope that things will turn out well and many will come with a willing heart to listen and to spend some pleasant time getting close with Heavenly Father. A hug
Aw! Thanks for the translation!! I imagine they are a little nervous as lots of fans have probably signed up. Love the ending. A hug
I hope too, that they are respectful, so that there will be many more of these during David’s time there.
Loving the new Snippet!!

Was in TheVoice earlier. Galdys, an Archie from Argentina was able to attend the Devotional nd hopped into The Voice’ live stream to chat about her 1st-time meeting experience w/ David.
I helped in the translation but will not post here cos I think it is best that we wait for TheVoice to put up the full blown story.
Afterall, it is their exclusive.
Will just post the link later when they have uploaded it

http://twitpic.com/a8ujmq
The guy that was recording and the girls wanted to say hi to David. Same guy was getting upset that some people were skipping the line but he was determined to say hi.The girl that spoke at the end was so happy that he told David that sings beautifully. David thanked her.
So niiice to hear his voice -- “Hola Hermana!” “Como estan!”
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!
Ooooohhhhhhh Myyyyyyyyyy GOD @jackryan, you’re so the best.

rubi -- pass me the tissues {sniff, sniff} He looks so beautiful! I’m so happy he’s happy, but I miss him. So nice to see a recent photo of him.
Aw! Yes Marlie, Rubi, Pass the tissues. Thanks JR! for the updates. So happy David is looking so good!! So glad they had the Devotional Concert. Hear David sang beautifully.
Tickled me to see that the President and his wife had David sandwiched between them. (Bodyguards?:))
Isn’t it funny how this person affect us?
How happy it makes us, just to see a recent picture? Just to hear a wisp of his voice? (“Hola hermana” -- I still die!).
To be moved because he looks so happy?
How could we miss someone this much? Someone we actually don’t even know personally???
It must be love
It is love, absolutely!

What Elder David Archuleta is up to on his LDS mission in Chile
On July 15, David Archuleta sang 5 songs in Spanish at a Devotional in Chile.
This was an event for LDS singles, although fans from as far as Argentina attended. See poster: http://twitpic.com/a3gb1s
Here is a translation by Bing of most of the FaceBook page set up by organizers:

Kids I know that perhaps I’m not one to say it, but I hope not to forget what is the real meaning of a devotional, don’t forget that Elder Archuleta is serving a mission and that deserves respect, you should know that it is not any man, has a special deal with every man and woman who were called upon to serve, for those who do not know, if you have the possibility to be welcomed for women is only the hand. I understand that they are fans, but they also understand our rules. Indeed I hope everything will go well and come many with heart ready to listen, to spend a pleasant moment, and to be in contact with our Heavenly Father, hugs”
So, attendees were given instructions to only shake Elder Archuleta’s hand. No hugging or kissing.
No videos of David’s performances were allowed, although apparently, some secret videos were made of him singing.
Afterwards, there was something of a “meet and greet”. See photos:

I can’t understand their Spanish but they seem pretty excited. You’d think this was an Archie concert rather than a religious event. I guess Archie is a pop star first regardless of where he goes.

Bruny informed me that she was unable to go to the devotional and she was heart sick about it. She told me though there will be two events coming up, the one in October and then David will be singing on the temple grounds in December. Most likely for Christmas. She is going to try hard to go to both.
Oh, I hope she can go to both upcoming devotional concerts, so she can share her experience too. I may not be there to see David performed, I’m glad there are some “Archies” who can able to go to that concerts and share their adventures to us. It’s enough for me to read their wonderful stories seeing David while he’s on his mission. I felt I was there too. A bit jealous (coz I wanted to go too), but grateful and blessed ‘coz they choose to share it with us.
I don’t know how many times I wrote this, but THANK YOU SO MUCH @jackryan for all the updates. This is the only fan sites of David’s I visited everyday. Keep those updates coming.
Rubi -- thanks a lot for always visiting TDC. I also look forward to seeing your entries.
And as for seeing David, don’t worry. You will someday.
Hi rubi! Isn’t it nice to read about gladys’ trip? I am so glad that we get just a tiny glimpse of David’s singing -- even if it is heard second-hand. I am just thrilled that he is singing on this mission -- it was something I worried about -- whether he would get to keep that voice in ship shape.
Thanks for posting the short video during the meet & greet on the Devocional Concert. The ladies couldn’t resist to take video of David. You can really feel their excitement. Meeting David in person. Gahhh.. Pictures, videos are the only tools we need to keep records of unforgettable experience specially meeting David. I guess the Devocional organizers understand that David will always be haunted by fans wherever he is. Thanks to Gladys too, for sharing her unforgettable experience meeting David. I’m happy for David that he sings on his mission. He looks happy and he is really glowing and still very cute. (Sigh)
Kudos to you all in TDC for all the updates you posted. BTW, the long version of “BEGIN” snippets is amazing. TY
Marlie -- Yes, it was so nice to read about Gladys’ trip. I felt her excitement. Though I’m curious what are the title of the songs did David sang. Hmmm..Love to know. I read one of the elder’s blogs before that David sang “I Know That My Redeemer Lives” in Spanish. Am sure He did an amazing version on that song. I can’t wait to hear him sing in Spanish, with his new Spanish accent.

Haha -- I think David only hates cameras now, when he is trying to fulfill his mission. Otherwise, I think he does photo shoots quite well.

A sample of Elder Coello’s talent
Have posted the event’s poster & a couple more pix above
David gained weight on the recent pic posted above. So that means he is so happy and so blessed on his mission in Chile. I’m so happy for him.
Elder Coello has an amazing talent playing the piano, perfect match to David’s powerful voice. I’m sure October 13 would be an incredible night in Rancagua. Lucky people there. Sigh.
Yes Rubi, I think all these people he visits want to feed him and he doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. He is never afraid to try new foods as we witnessed in the Phillipines and other countries. One of my favorite picture ever was when one of the fans insisted feeding him at the radio station. He is such a Joy!!
So happy he is singing and they are showcasing that voice and spirit!
Hello TDC. Just want to thank you again for your wonderful, easy to navigate archives! They have been my favorite pastime these days as I am catching up on the years I missed in Archieland. So fun!! Thank you, thank you!
I think it’s so funny how the missionaries always comment that David hates cameras. When I think about the gazillions of fabulous photos we have of him……I can’t believe David really hates cameras. I just think he is well aware that any photo he is in right now is going out there for all to see….and this just isn’t where his focus is right now,……… I wonder if he also doesn’t like to draw attention away from his fellow missionaries. He is just so conscientious. The photo shoots he’s done in the past look like he’s having a pretty good time……….and, of course we know the camera surely loves HIM!!!

He is humble and super super great! His ability to speak Spanish is still developing but he can still speak to the people here who apparently are not aware that he is here in Chile. So I took a picture with him and posted them in this site as a remembrance of his time here. He will be remembered as a young man with great courage and humility, admired by the youth of the Church cos he did not care that he had to leave everything so he can share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which really brings salvation and lasting happiness to people of all race and color. I admire him and express my humble testimony that he likewise knows that this Church and this Gospel are the ARE THE ONLY TRUTH RESTORED ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH (not sure of the last line).

Elder Archuleta
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
His shoes will be worn out and his feet aching from walking all day.
He’ll wear a backpack, ride a bike, and the scriptures will be his best friend. He’ll smile, talk to random people on the street corners, he’ll eat some amazing food. He will laugh at his companions and eat dinner with the church members. With all the graciousness that is in him, he will pray to find those who are searching to hear about the Lord. He’ll still sing, but it will be in church buildings… someone sitting in front of him during the meeting will get to hear that angelic voice. He will share his testimony with so many. He will offer service to anyone who needs it— no matter if it is raking leaves in a yard, cleaning up after a disaster, or simply baking some cookies to take to an elderly woman. He will come to realize just how amazing he is… finally the words we have been trying to tell him about himself will be realized. With help from God, he will understand his full potential. He will gain confidence in himself and the world around him. Someone will bring him a gift on his Birthday. Tears will stream down his face as he witnesses lives change. He will always remember his world back home and won’t take it for granted. He will remember all of the people who helped him get this far…. and he WILL remember us.
Don’t worry… things are gonna get better.

Sign up using the email address you used for this site
It will then take you to a page to add an image (if it doesn’t, it is one of the drop-down selections on “My Account” at the very top of the gravatar page.
It will ask where you want to get the image from, Your computer hard drive, an image on the internet, and others. You should probably have the image on your own computer.
Once you select that it will allow you to browse your computer and select a picture (don’t worry about the size yet)
It will upload the picture and you can play with the size and select how to cut the picture down so that the best part shows on your avitar
Select Crop and Finish
Then select G rated (hopefully!)
It will then show you which image is associated with your email address.
It may take a while to show up (15 minutes to 2 hours)

Gah -- I’m so glad to read these tweets -- makes me happy he hasn’t lost his sense of fun!
The chat was EPIC! Gladys was fantastic! So happy for her
Things I remember from chat --
* Sang hymns, Imagine, Eye of a Tiger, A Thousand Miles, Hero By Iglesias — IN SPANISH!, Wonderful World and La Vida Es Un Carnaval by Celia Cruz & one by Al Johnson
* Spoke Spanish through & through
* He wore a black suit, a turquoise tie, black shoes -- har still short!
* At one point he wore a white hat while kneeling & pointing to Elder Coello to continue playing piano
* He wasn’t just grooving -- he was dancing AND asking the audience to dance along!
* Oh! and he kept saying “Que caliente!” while wiping his perspiration, LOL
Gladys also emphasized, Elder Archuleta looked bigger
Celia Cruz’ La Vida Es Un Carnaval
What a Wonderful World
Iglesias’ Hero
Now Gladys says he sang Aguillera’s version of Hero but I cannot find s sample of it
I have copy of the chat but let’s wait for TheVOICE to post the whole enchilada. After all, they hosted the chat
Then Gladys will prepare her write up -- something to look forward to
Told ya -- order those defib before 2014. They get run out of stock by then!
Be prepared Archies. Be very very prepared!
One last note: Our guy sure misses performing
He may hit the ground running when he gets back, yay!
Waaahhh.
I can’t wait to read the full recap of his performance. I’m so excited. And I’m so happy to those who witnessed how awesome David performed on stage. Reading those short recaps, sounds like he had a great time.
I want to hear him sing HERO live in 2014. David is my hero.
I want this too --> “SALSA, BOXING, KICKING & KNEELING — all from David!” in his comeback concert in 2014.
Here is another song David sang last night
Sueña Con Un Mañana by Luis Miguel
It would probably be good to remove the Iglesias Hero video above since it’s not the correct “Hero” and could be quite misleading due to the content. Maria Carey’s version is the same one Christina Aguilera sings.

It’s interesting that we all have different musical tastes. For my part, there are 2 places in David’s music where it’s really hard for me not to cry -- make that 3. One: when he sings the bridge in Be Still My Soul, Two: when he sings word “oceans” in God Bless America, Three: when he sings “Sancta Maria” the 2nd time through on Ave Maria. I’m so glad he affects me so -- he has given me some type of inner emotional/spiritual “scaffolding” -- a place to hang all my feelings, aspirations and every part of who I am. Love David. Miss him.
Oh Patricia I love that phrase -- EMOTIONAL/SPIRITUAL SCAFFOLDING!
Yes indeed, he moves us in ways that are sometimes surprising. A guy that can make us smile, laugh, cry and dream. What more can we ask for?
Thank you for your comments and welcome to TDC!
Thanks for the welcome. It’s nice to respectfully be here and be able to catch just a super quick glimpse of his face once in a while. I became a (diehard) fan exactly 8 days before he made his mission announcement so I enjoy the occasional visual “reassurance”. Glad you guys are here.
8 days before…? Oh wow! If you need to catch up on things, just visit TDC’s archives, Just a warning though… beware of the vortex
Oh, Patricia, when he sings “Sancta Maria” the 2nd time through on Ave Maria
That does the same to me -- tears. Gah!
I love that phrase “emotional scaffolding” -- perfect!
I’m here for that second Sancta Maria.
It kills me.
Me, too, betsy! Instead of watching the polls, which makes me bite my nails, I’m going up to the archives and watch lovely David videos for a while. I need the solace!

However, it’s November, it’s getting cold and I’ve already started listening to his Christmas CD, sitting right there on my passenger seat, beside BEGIN. Lovely to see his 18 yr old face right next to his 21 yr old one. PLUS, if Christmas is coming can New Year’s be far behind? And you know what THAT means, after 2013 comes DA2014. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoa, 9 elders at the back of a mini van?! Wonder what David’s awkward position that night was. Lol. I’m sure he loves that experience too.
@glady’s recap:
“The Prayer” --> Haven’t heard him sing this song yet, but I’m in tears knowing he sang that song. Pretty sure it was awesome.
RUBI -- If he sings The Prayer when he gets back, I think that will definitely wipe out his arch angels, LOL
Just thinking about it makes me shiver!

Gosh teary-eyed watching those videos.
Definition of Christmas is David Archuleta.
oh, tears in my eyes, too. I miss him and his gorgeous voice! This is such a treat for Christmas -- hearing him do O Holy Night in Spanish is pure perfection.
Somehow this feels like a little gift, doesn’t it?
Can’t get enough of O Holy Night -- can’t stop listening to it. It is magnificent!
Listen to the little groan from the videographer when David hits that glory note at 2:27. I can so relate!
Thank you so much everyone who put these up -- I also, though not a member, really want to thank the LDS leadership for having a bit of compassion for us fans during this Archudrought and allowing Gladys to attend his devotionals and for allowing any media recording of these things because they can have NO IDEA what this means to us. Do you think David’s heart is sparkling a little as he must realize that there are going to be about a gazillion hits on these??? Certainly, he must miss us at moments as well… Oh thank you again everyone and The Divine Hand which loves us all so much that we get to have these!!!
Now there is talk that we are NOT supposed to post them. I’m sorry, but the LDS Church has him for 2 whole years. I’m keeping this little bit of him -- we miss him and have supported everything he has done, whether we are a part of his religion, a part of a totally different one, or not a part of any.
LSD Church -- please give us this little gift. Don’t take these videos down.

GLADYS re-cap of 2ND DEVOTIONAL
http://thevoicedavidarchuleta.com/2012/12/09/gladys-goes-to-2nd-christmas-devotional-david-archuleta/
I got me choked up when Gladys delivered the message we asked her t tell him --
Elder Archuleta, I know you have contact with a singer from Utah whose name starts with a D. Please tell him that he won’t need to start at zero. Just begin where he left off. I give thanks for the jewels he left us and for those that are to come. I speak for everyone from around the world. May God Bless you and continue protecting you.
Cos I distinctly remember the 1st time he talked about that… about starting from scratch…
He was just a few feet away from me with less than 20 people in the room. I am sure that meant a lot to him, reading Glady’s message.
Thanks again Gladys!
Here’s the specific video when he said
I like this comment from Kitwana’s on MJ’s blog
David’s duet of The Prayer is so beautiful. What I like about his voice is how pretty and powerful it sounds without sounding “broadway” like Lea Michele, Darren Criss or Nick Jonas.
If I were managing him, I would market him by presenting him as the anti-Emblem 3 or Justin Bieber. Someone who is young, humble, vocally talented and not the product of marketing. That is how Simon tried to market Emblem 3 in their first appearance on X-Factor -- presenting them in contrast to the stereotypical boybander. Problem is, they are just as manufactured (albeit as a different product line -- the poor street kids who refuse to conform hahahahahahahahahaha) and just as untalented. The marketing is not working. It would work with David because he is different -- materially different -- than his contemporaries in the pop world today. 2014 will be interesting.
FROM MJ’s blog posted by hellomusicgirl:
Cute little story that was posted about meeting David at the Christmas devotional yesterday:
“I was at the Christmas Devotional today, my best friends are in the chorus so i went early at the temple square, We were in the church singing and playing piano, then Seba said “oh Nina you’re a fan of Archuleta, you know all his songs” and I was like “hey … I only know one of his songs on piano”, so I started play the song on piano and guess what … yes, elder Archuleta came, laughed and said “hey … that’s my song.” We were amazed and I obviously got very shy, He talked to us for a while and then we could be in his essay before of the devotional. He’s very friendly and funny. I had seen him in another musical devotional, but this was amazing, I could not be more embarrassed, he hummed a little bit of the song and then told me to keep playing, and He also said that I played the piano well, the truth is that I can not touch in front of people, and with him there I was more nervous even.”
So much joy has been felt just from these few videos and from hearing about the devotionals. David brings joy even when he is far away.

The performance took place at the Santiago Chile Temple Christmas celebration. Dancers performed while Archuleta sang the Spanish Christams carol.

Christmas Concert in South America: David Archuleta
A Christmas pageant was held outside of the LDS temple in Santiago, Chile, on December 8, 2012. It was a great evening of music, dance, and reflection on the birth of Jesus Christ.
Special guest singers included Elder David Archuleta, Rebeca Lopez, and Lorena Reyes. Elder Jorge F. Zeballos, First Counselor in the South America South Area Presidency, provided a Christmas message.
I hope you enjoy the following video of highlights of that Christmas concert.
Elder David Archuleta is nearly nine months into his 2-year LDS mission. When Elder Archuleta sang in a choir at the LDS General Conference back in April, photos and video were spread widely on social media. I expect that this video will also get quite a few views. The video was just posted yesterday, and the views now stand at 1,123. Any guesses as to how many views it will get by the end of December?

Here’s her initial report
LOOSE TRANSLATION --
when I arrived there was 3 rows of seats reserved, Mr. McKinley took me to the second
and told me to wait there, then came to a head
and told me to wait there, then came to meet the Elder of another church and introduced me a researcher, gave me the whole plan of the event and gave me more material.
I suppose he wants me to publish it.
Meanwhile I mingled and passed out sweets to the argentinean elder and the guitarist that accompanies David
I talked to Mrs. Mack
LOOSE TRANSLATION
Mrs Mackgave me a kiss and went to sit next to david, when they welcomed all they said the members and investigators
the devotional began, I was a little closer than usual and david was behind a computer, there were so many girls looking at him
when he got up to sing Pastores a Belen, he seemed a little tired but happy, there was a lot of people
LOOSE TRANSLATION
they told me that the the last devotional the senior elders werent pleased with all the lines of those waiting to speak to david
although you can not believe it, his voice is much deeper, i don; know why, maybe because I was very close, but before it was too, but it sounded deeper and they wanted to applaud but
again he made the sign with his finger on his lips
then there was absolute silence, except for a crying child who had many families (??)
LOOSE TRANSLATION
there are no words to describe, I’ve said before there is nothing like listening to these songs in complete silence. it is priceless!
everything was finisehd so fast
as I was in the second row, I didn’t have to wait to greet David, Mrs. Mack I introduced him to a couple of people and then to me and I gave him my gift together
with the messages and everyone was spazzing because they wanted to say hello, I ended up stuck in I got caught in the middle of all the people hahahahahahah
LOOSE tRANSLATION
when I got out sister viviana asked me how was her singing, since the piano didn’t work I change up the melody hahaha
when I finished chatting with sister viviana, I went toward the back and saw elder coello
he took me by the arm and said i have something for you
LOOSE TRANSLATION
Well, Elder Coello gave me his cd and he said this for you sister, and I gave him some sweets of course, I asked if he was leaving next year
and he said no, he was ending in 2014, along with David, so coello will be around
I also asked if he would continue his career professionally and said a big IF
LOOSE tRANSLATION
I wanted to give him a kiss but told him I knew it wasnt allowed so I took his hand and told him thank you for caring for him and he understood
we all take care of each other
the elders told me that when they have another devotional they will email me
LOOSE TRANSLATION
they all seemed like kids with their boxes of chocolates, they had seen me give David and Coello before, I saw David’s companion who is always with him
said of course and I gave him one, since I still had some left I asked the argentinean elder who to give them too, he said
to my companion the one who played the guitar, he called him over and i gave him the box, he was pleased , he told the argentinean elder to guard it with his life hahaha
he went and sat next to david and they both laughed
LOOSE TRANSLATION
I have David’s smile, Coello’s cd and future emails, what more can I ask for?
and this is not the last time I will see David, my day has been great, I was able to deliver all messages sent to me
mission accomplsihed!
And I am now also researcher
LOL Gladys says in chat that since she keeps on coming back to Chile, she will open an account & look for a BF there!

Elder David Archuleta Sings Christmas Concert at Temple in Santiago, Chile
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OFrdNBibhd4/UMj2S1q14yI/AAAAAAAAOLk/xiAvseHVD7Q/s640/christmas-devotional-archuleta1.jpg
The Christmas performance was held in the gardens of the temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Santiago, Chile, on December 8, 2012. It was a great night of music, dance, and reflection on the birth of Jesus Christ. David Archuleta, then Elder Archuleta, who is serving as a full-time missionary in this part of South America since March this year, attended the concert singing carols.
Watch excerpts here:
Other singers also had their cameos as Rebeca Lopez and Lorena Reyes. Elder Jorge F. Zeballos, First Counselor in the Area Presidency South America, South left a Christmas message.
David James Archuleta was born on December 28, 1990, in Miami. He is a singer and American composer. In May 2008, won second place in the seventh season of the reality show American Idol, receiving 44% of more than 97 million votes in the final against David Cook. His first single “Crush” was released in August 2008, his debut album was released in America on November 11, 2008. In March this year he went to Chile, Santiago, serve as full-time missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Just thought this was interesting: there is an asteroid that passes by earth every year. In February, it is going to come within 14,000 miles, a safe margin. The name of it is 2012DA14. I just love that it has DA14 in it! I do think of David as a beautiful asteroid that has shaken up my life in the most wonderful ways possible. Here’s a link if anyone is interested. Take care, happy new year and thanks for all you do!

Hoff, you’re history.
Gladys, Been thinking about you this week. So excited for you.
Tell David we love No Matter How Far and Happy One year Anniversary. Safe travels……. Give David our best wishes!!
I will.
He knows each of our names, he knows we’re waiting and he knows that we love him.
Thank You Gladys
GLADYS -- what do you mean “he knows each of our names”?
he knows.
For 5 years I’ve met beautiful people and all have a place in my heart. Names do not see often and current names, in many places, of many ages, but all agree on something, we all love the same person.
David knows of our love and our names.
It is nice to know that he knows we love him no matter how far. I was just intrigued when you said he knows our names cos that meant he has mentioned something, hehe.
Anw, when do you leave for Chile? And would you know if they would stream it?
I do not think I can take photos or videos, it is forbidden, but I think there will be any surprises, this time I’ve been invited directly. I’m a little anxious. I’m hoping for a miracle. I think I have scared a wish.
My flight to Chile, is on Saturday 30th, in the afternoon. And the devotional is Sunday 31, 6 pm.
Take care then Gladys. And as always, please send our love to our dear Elder and great thank you for the gift of NMHF album.
Also, pls tell him from JR that he better be prepared for a deluge of affection from his Archies upon his return!
I will try to condense all our love in a message. I promise.
Hi Gladys!
I will be sending you an email in a bit. Let me know if you got it, ok?
GLADYS -- Please check you email and let me know if you got it. Thanks!
jackryan -- Had seen the last mish pic you posted but wasn’t sure it was David. I hope David is being treated well by fellow missionaries (re: Elder Hoff)in Chile. This is probably the minority; in any case, I’m sure he knows how to handle it.
Hard to believe its already been a year. Time does fly so March 2014 will be hear before we know it.
Its always good to see David as he is now; like a family member living far away. These pics show he is healthy and happy. Hopefully we will hear whatever he chooses to share of some of his adventures when he gets back.
Are you coming to the Sounds of David event in California?
hi Martha
Elder Hoff’s reaction is understandable. To be not told directly by the organizers… Am sure our David will know how to handle any eventualities.
Time flies indeed. Am also just happy to David happy, healthy and safe.
Re the Sounds of David, unfortunately I still cannot go. But am targeting to be in David’s 1st comeback concert
jackryan -- I answered your reply -- not sure where it went. haha
Martha -- I checked our pending and spam comments boxes -- none there. Just re-write it?
hola jackryan4da.
I am preparing my papers to attend the first concert of david, it does not matter how far, I will be there.
I have not received an e-mail.
jackryan -- Oh, ok. It was a little long lol. Just stated that I understood Elder Hoff’s feelings about being told by David he was replaced a few days before the event, but didn’t like him being referred to as “porkchop” or that he wouldn’t be moved because they wanted to keep him near his performances. Appears he’s a little jealous of David and possibly Elder Coello. Just hoping he is being treated nicely (the mother in me is coming out)lol
Hoping we can have a big fan get-together at David first concert 2014. That would be fun.
GLADYS -- I just re-sent it. It is probably in your spam box? Can you also pls check that. Your email is the one on hotmail.com, right?

I have an e-mail. Thanks for trusting me.
MARTHA -- Oh but Elder Hoff did call David “Archie” as well, didn’t he? Hehe Am sure he is just blowing off steam. And are we not all super protective of our David? That guy has the most # of moms & abuelitas worldwide!
A big fan get-together would be THE BOMB!
In fact, I already had a dream about it. When he 1st appeared, we clapped for a good 15 minutes. He was crying. We were crying. We were all a mess! LOL.
We are a cra-zeh lot!
I’d bet that Elder H. is correct about David staying in the Rancagua Mission because of his performances. If I remember correctly, the youth program in Rancagua is a newer, experimental thing, probably to address the problem of young people leaving their church. David is probably an important part of that effort.
cchalo -- I agree and you are right. The youth program is new initiatie
cchalo -- you make a good point. Hadn’t thought of that. He probably does have a special place and special calling to the work they are doing there.
Martha and JR -- love the conversation here about David and Hoff. I suspect there is a little jealousy, but it is not hard to imagine how Hoff might feel left out.
I’m pretty sure David has a thick skin and a strong will after having stood up to some pretty high-profile record execs at Jive. And he directed a band and crew -- he can handle himself.
Gladys -- so excited for your upcoming trip -- tell David his fans are thrilled with the CD and woo hoo we are half way through the two years!
A big BLOW OUT!!!! Yes, in 2014 -- 1st concert they better get a stadium as so many fans are saving up to go. Tears, applause….yup, I can see it, too, JR.
Could we please stop speculating as to Hoff’s feelings/motives? Doesn’t seem fair. May God bless Hoff hugely. Meantime, I sure enjoyed listening to NMHF twice in its entirety yesterday and I believe there will be a huge outpouring of tears when we see David again -- all of our hearts are so connected -- he really is a beautiful instrument of the Divine Love. Happy Friday, everyone. Thanks for being here and keeping us posted, DC.
Ah, Pat -- we are human. And so it goes.
FROM ELDER JACOB VESTER
He really didn;t explain why they are shouting David’s name. I suppose the forthcoming Easter Devotional is bringing out the fans in their area? LOL
Hmmmmmmm!! Think Elder Vester is in Brazil too!!
Thanks for the find JR
Happy Easter JR, Marlie and all!!!

I think this pic will prompt a good number of Archies to send some stuff to our Elder
Was just over TheVoice to check on Gladys. You may be glad to know that our Gladys is very happy I believe Elder A sang 2 songs
Looking forward to her write up which will be translated by Angelica & posted at TheVoice.
But if you cannot wait for that, you can also catch her stories over at her blog — http://salt-david-city-2250.blogspot.com/
Apparently also, some sad news was shared during the devotional. It appears Elder Coello is leaving his mission early possibly due to health reasons.
If that is the case, get well soon Elder Coello and thank you for being a great companion to Elder A!
Thanks for the picture JR !! David looks good.
Looking forward to hearing more from Gladys. Wishing Elder Coello well.
David looks skinny in that pic. And a little bit tired. (I’m being a mom lol)
Marlie
Yes he’s lost weight since Christmas Photos. I think he’s working pretty hard on his Mission.
Elder A will be deluged with “mom care kits” lol-lol-lol
According to the chat at TheVoice the other night, it was Elder Coello himself who announced he would be going back home early because of health problems.
Some notes from Giselle via Janel of FOD,
DA sang 2 songs, both in Spanish. One was “His Hands” but she doesn’t know the other one. Also she said David was emotional.
Here is HIS HANDS (female version)
Here’s another version
Beautiful song. I’m sure David told the story of the song with such heartfelt emotion and passion.
Sad about Elder Coello. Hope for a good outcome for him. The Mission will miss him, I’m sure.
Thanks for all the updates JR.
An updated poster of the Easter Devotional -- seems this confirms talks about Elder Coello’s going home
FROM ELDER JARED HOFF’S BLOG (FURTHER CONFIRMATION re ELDER COELLO)
I’m sorry, but Elder Hoff doesn’t seem like a good example of someone who is attempting to “be like Jesus.” Is it necessary to be so nasty? Does he think he’s funny?
I hope his mission teaches him some humility, kindness and maturity.

thanks for posting my blog. I have to confirm information, and soon I’ll publish my experience of 31 April.
David’s voice is much deeper and the music remains his passion. At the end of the song “his hands” His voice broke and he cried.
And I could not keep my tears from falling.
Ok, When my summary is finished, I will notify, thanks again jackryan4da.
Why am I getting teary-eyed with this -- “At the end of the song “his hands” His voice broke and he cried.
And I could not keep my tears from falling.
So looking forward to your sharing GLadys. Thanks a bunch!
Aw!! Gladys and JR David has such deep emotions and that song definitely touches the heart.
Looking forward to your write up Gladys. I did follow along on the Voice when you gave your report. It is so nice to have someone we know there to support and enjoy David’s devotional first hand that shares it with us.
Bless your heart!! You too JR.
A couple of new pics
Marley -- I tried to cut Mr. Hoff some slack earlier but now I see he is being quite mean-spirited and immature. David GAVE UP his fame to serve! He doesn’t seem to appreciate that -- oh well, we’ll pray for him….
Patricia -- I agree, and you were more patient than I was LOL
LDS LIVING also featured the BSMS video
Loving the pictures and all the Promo!!
David looks good, sounds good………is good
I have finished my summary of devotional March 31 and I have published, I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks for your patience.

Thanks Gladys!! Will it be on The Voice too ?
No, they did not publish my recaps. But there is an option to translate my blog in the top right.
thanks.
Dear Gladys,
Thank you for your recap. It is a joyful experience seeing him on this juncture of his mission and indeed a blessed experience to be there before him, seeing him, hearing him sing “The Christ” and His “Hands.
Additional thank you for marking the segment of His Hands that made David choke to tears.
…
His hands are in agony, begged God shift from the cup,
someone shortly after a brutal kiss sold to the lord,
Now your hands are shaking, to go carrying the cross of her torment,
He is seen stumbling nothing can be done, he will die, will die
Take your hands, strong hands, His tender hands,
and the nails, the nails, the leaves, it is your mission
He always gave Himself completely now with His hands outstretched to me …..
He asks me … I follow His example in my life …..
and that everything He made me do here.
What beautiful heart and soul!
Here is the lyrics of the English version of his hands, as sung in the Kenneth Cope version. I also marked the equivalent portion where David became emotional
Album: Greater Than Us All
his hands
tools of creation
stronger than nations
power without end
and yet through them we find our truest friend
his hands
sermons of kindness
healing men’s blindness
halting years of pain
children waiting to be held again
his hands would serve his whole life through
showing man what hands might do
giving, ever giving, endlessly
each day was filled with selflessness
and i’ll not rest until i make of my hands what they could be
’til these hands become like those from galilee
his hands
lifting a leper
warming a beggar
calling back the dead
breaking bread, five thousand fed
his hands
hushing contention
pointing to heaven
ever free of sin
then bidding man to follow him
his hands would serve his whole life through
showing man what hands might do
giving, ever giving, endlessly
each day was filled with selflessness
and i’ll not rest until i make of my hands what they could be
’til these hands become like those from galilee
his hands
clasped in agony
as he he lay pleading, bleeding in the garden
while just moments away
other hands betray him
out of greed, shameful greed
and then his hands
are trembling
straining to carry the beam that they’ve been nailed to
as he stumbles through the streets
heading for the hill on which he’d die
he would die
they take his hands, his mighty hands, those gentle hands
and then they pierce them, they pierce them
he lets them, because of love
from birth to death was selflessness
and clearly now i see him with his hands
calling to me
and though i’m not yet as i would be
he has shown me how i could be
i’ll make my hands like those from galilee
Oh My!! That must have been something to witness and to hear. I get emotional just reading the words and imagining David singing this song with all his heart and soul. Bless his heart.
Thanks for sharing Gladys and JR.
Still can’t get the translate button to work but can enjoy the songs. Still hoping the lds.org will post the songs from the Devotional.
HEIDI -- what browser are you using? Try another one and see if the translate button will appear. Sent you an email
I’m so sorry, the translator settings of my blog, it’s terrible, that I can not solve. But I just thank everyone who made the effort to read this recap.
thanks girls.
Gladys, It is ok HEIDI got the translation fine
The Problem is not on your end Gladys. It has something to do with my Computer settings.
JR helped me with it.
Your review and experience sounds so spiritual and wonderful and we appreciate you sharing it with us.
Bless you both!!
Thank you so much Gladys for your wonderful recap.
What a beautiful song HIS HANDS is. It brought tears to my eyes, how much more when you’re listening to the song with David singing it… And LIVE. I can’t imagine. Gah!!!
Gladys you are so blessed. Thank you for sharing your experience with David to us. God bless you as always.
JR, thanks for the English lyrics of HIS HANDS.

The Sounds of David sounds like a great success too and David will get the news from that first hand, since Kari was there
He will be so touched by the event, the charity and knowing us fans are all here.

When I started reading this paragraph of Jared Hoff’s Missionary Blog, I was scared because I thought he would say to that place was designed David.
I hope this Elder has a limit on the information that he writes.
So nice that he is now a zone leader. I know David deserves it and he will be a good leader for sure. So happy for him. God bless him as always especially on his mission.

David James Archuleta –
Prepares for Return from Mormon Mission
Posted by Keith L. Brown on May 7, 2013 in Singers
David James Archuleta, born 28 December 1990, is well known as a successful recording artist, and young singing sensation. Many people will recall that in 2007, at the age of sixteen, he became one the youngest contestants on season seven of the popular television show American Idol. In May 2008, he finished as runner-up, receiving 44 percent of over 97 million votes. Since the days of American Idol, his career has been on the fast track to success.
In addition to an extremely promising music career, Archuleta is also a budding actor. He was introduced to the theater of acting in 2012 when he was cast as part of a television series in the Philippines for TV5, the third largest Filipino network. The series was titled Nandito Ako (Here I Am), and was broadcasted from February to March 2012.
The network gave the following response concerning having Archuleta as the star of the series:
The signing of Archuleta is seen to further boost the attempts of TV5, currently the third biggest broadcasting network in the Philippines, to climb up the rankings.
The signing of an international star of Archuleta’s youth and talent, arguably in his prime, is bound to shake up the Philippine entertainment industry. [1]
In March 2012, while in the Philippines, Archuleta released his fourth album, a Filipino exclusive, and his first Original Pilipino Music album, titled Forevermore. The album consists of several covers of Filipino songs. To add to his treasures of success, the album sold more than 10,000 units in the Philippines and was certified gold.
The Decision to Serve an LDS Mission
Rock climber at sunset. Bo Jackson quote about goalsDuring the 2011 Christmas season, while performing his My Kind of Christmas Tour concert in Salt Lake City, Utah, Archuleta made an announcement that perhaps awed his audience at first. After hearing the entire announcement, however, the initial shock turned into excitement and cheer, and a young Archuleta burst into tears on stage.
What was the announcement? Archuleta had made the decision to wait to he had returned to his home state of Utah before announcing that he was placing his music career on hold for two years as he had made the decision to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (inadvertently referred to by the media and others as the Mormon Church.) He wanted to assure his audience that evening that his decision was not based on what someone had told him to do, or expected him to do, but he was doing what he believes to be the next important step in his life. He reassured everyone that he was not leaving the music business. He also asked that everyone please respect his decision. Elder David James Archuleta is currently serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ in South America, in the country of Chile.
No Matter How Far – The Music Continues
Even while Archuleta is away in the far country of Chile on the Lord’s errand, his management team and loyal fans have been keeping his music alive. Archuleta is appreciative of his fans and wanted to make sure that they would have fresh material to listen to while he is away. So, prior to departing on his mission, Archuleta and his team carefully coordinated everything to ensure that his social media avenues would remain active, and that current material would be released at the right intervals. His latest album titled No Matter How Far was released on 26 March 2013.
Although there are still several months before “Elder” Archuleta returns home from his mission, his management team has already alerted the fans via his Twitter account that gears are already turning, and plans are in motion for when he returns.
One of the questions that was asked was: “What is one of the first thing you want to see David do when David Archuleta Returns 2014?” The following is one response to that exciting question:
That is a pretty exciting question to ask for his team and fans. I personally would love to see his return with fresh music, but I do think he needs some fun time off before that can happen. After all, he has spent the last 2 years being a dedicated Mormon and doing what is expected of him by his faith. I love that and I think he does deserve a chance to live a normal, young adult life for a month or 2. That might even in fact help him plot his return to music even better! So that is my request for him, which I doubt will actually happen on his end. [2]
Another question that was asked was: “Are you excited to see “Elder” David return and if so, what do you want him to do first?” One response to that question was:
I am excited to see if his music changes thanks to his mission. I would figure taking a mission like the one he is on would change anybody. So that will be interesting to see. All I can say for a fact is that he will be welcomed back warmly by all and he knows that his fans will continue to support his next endeavors no matter what they may be. [2]
David Archuleta MormonPerhaps the titles of Archuleta’s last three albums – Forevermore, Begin, and No Matter How Far – are messages within themselves, a small glimpse as to what the future may hold for him.
Archuleta’s music career may be temporarily on hold as far as him performing his music at the moment, but that does not signify an end. One thing that Archuleta, his management team, and his fans are sure of is that his love for music and singing will never die, but will continue on “Forevermore.” After serving his mission and returning home, he may “Begin” to go in a whole new direction that will change his life and career focus. But, “No Matter How Far” away he may be, or may go in the near future to pursue his dreams, he will always remain true and faithful to those who have helped him to achieve his success. Of that we can be sure.

Gladys! Safe travels Hoping you get to go to President MacArthur’s farewell where David is singing!! Bless your heart. Wishing you well!! Say hello to Elder Archuleta for us!!
Gisselle has told me that the devotional farewell was emotional, she also told me that David was not present.
Perhaps the non-confirmation of my tickets was a sign, who knows.
Thanks for the report Gladys!! Had hoped to hear if David sang!! Know the farewells are quite emotional and they all had their separate good byes.
Hope this finds you well
David wasn’t present? I can understand him not singing but not to be there? Hmmm, he must have been attending to something really impt to miss the farewell devotional
The Message from President MacArthur on Mission Site states they will be at a Final Conference on Tuesday. SanFernando which is where David is located. Hopefully David will sing there. He will be at the Final Conference is my understanding.
That’s what I gathered too HEIDIJOY. Thanks for confirming.
