Finally, a clear hig-def version of David’s 1st ever Spanish music video, Nunca Pense which premiered during RootsTech 2015. Enjoy!

Giran en mi mente historias que de tí aprendí.
En un mar de dudas
una voz algo me quiere decir.
Aunque me resista, no lo niego
no puedo mentir.
No había notado el vacío que había en mi.

Nunca pensé
que ahora…
encontrara esa parte de mí.
entiendo por qué estoy aquí.

Donde hayas ido
tu influencia se puede sentir
veo en tus ojos mi reflejo
no me quieres decir.
Solo no me has dejado
aunque un tiempo me perdí.

Algo tan inesperado
que me llevó a tí.

Nunca pensé
que ahora…
encontrara esa parte de mí.
entiendo por qué estoy aquí.

Nunca pensé
que ahora…
encontrara esa parte de mí.
entiendo por qué estoy aquí.

Center Stage Sun, 15 Feb 2015 10:52:52 +0000 David Archuleta screencap-rootstech
Last night David took center stage at RootsTech 2015, a Family History conference held in Salt Lake City each year. Fans have been waiting a long time to see a performance by David that didn’t include Christmas songs! (Although, we love those, too!)

First, David released the long-awaited Spanish Video that was shot in Costa Rica last fall. The song was written by David, in collaboration with Alex Menesio, and filmed by the Family History group to encourage young Latinos to get involved in their own family history. Love hearing David sing in Spanish!

Next David sang a song by Justin Timberlake, called Mirror.

Want to hear David talk for a while (I always do!), then watch this next video. This is an older, wiser David. There is much that is consistent with who we remember, the David that likes to ramble a bit, but also a more confident and more interesting David. I’m loving who he is.

We got to hear David sing “Glorious” and many fans are saying it is the best version yet. What do you think?

There were some nice surprises, too!

When David released Don’t Run Away while he was gone, we all said, “Ooh, I hope we get to hear that live someday!”  And now we can…

The same was said when we heard about the Spanish video, and saw those tiny snippets of the song on Instagram.  We learned that David co-wrote this song. And again, our wishes have been granted!

David Archuleta and Studio C lip-sync contest RootsTech

And lastly, we saw David lip-syncing to Van Halen’s “Jump.” Ninja David seemed to be having a lot of fun as he acted out the words, lip-syncing and “jumping” on stage. I love to see that part of him – playful, happy, almost mischievous.

We’ve waited a long time for what i think this performance represents. David is back – new, refreshed, but with that amazing voice even stronger and more beautiful. Can’t wait for more!

First Blog from @DavidArchie Tue, 13 Jan 2015 03:53:40 +0000 1st-blog-2015-300x300

Isn’t it nice to hear from him? Plenty of nuggets from his 1st blog

I understand I have not been very open about what I have been up to with updates, blogs, pictures, and all of that, but I have been trying my best to share as much as what feels right. You are getting to know who I really am: someone who hates being the center of attention, likes quiet and away time, and doesn’t mind being alone, unless with a couple of people at a time to really get one-on-one time with close friends and family.

I am David. I love life; I love learning; I love sharing; and music is a way I express my passions and what is important to me. Obviously I want to get that out to as many people as possible, but it’s worthless to me if I only do it for the secondary goal of getting music out to as many people as possible and giving up the prime reason of sharing who I am, my art, my passion, and what matters most to me.

I know I may disappoint people for not being as interactive as before or who I showed myself as before, but man is it refreshing to not have to apologize for who I am and care about upsetting people anymore just because I am not what they want or expect me to be.

To understand where the music is coming from, you have to understand where I am coming from personally as well… I hope the music that comes will be something that you can feel is real.

So now I wonder: When he was in Manila for months, was the comfort and “blossoming” we saw more of pleasing more people than being himself? And he said he can’t act?! (weak smile)

In any case, am sure that fans will always wish the best of him and will always be thrilled that he is at last comfortable in his own skin enough to declare it.

Be sure to comment on David’s blog on his site as another way of welcoming him :)

The long wait is over.

Although we’ve seen a few snippets of David singing from the Afghanistan tour, it hasn’t been quite enough (who can ever get enough of David singing?) Waiting for a live concert, fans have been (mostly) patient after the long two years while David was on his mission and the six months since his return.

Now the wait is over – that glorious, fabulous voice is back on stage for two nights, performing with the One Voice Choir, Kevin Olusola and a number of other members of various denominations around the Salt Lake City area. Anticipation was high and it was well worth waiting.

David’s voice has become richer (is that possible?) and deeper – his control of the lower register is perfection. And his high notes – simply sublime, as always.

Enjoy these videos – I’m sure there will be many versions over the next 48 hours. We’ll post any and all we find.

Rising Star Outreach Event Mon, 27 Oct 2014 21:04:10 +0000 At the Rising Star Outreach Event, David sang with Leximae Walker – and what a treat for all of us to hear them both.

And to hear David sing pop songs again is … glorious!

Thanks so much to Patti Adams!

A Glorious Sunday Gift from @DavidArchie Mon, 29 Sep 2014 05:11:38 +0000 942723_1467201763568625_4365602954492936651_n
Nothing better could cap a week of teasers and samplings than a full-length access to a new song of David and an informative interview that more than tickled Archies worldwide.

Thanks to Steven Kapp Perry of FM100.3, we got to listen to GLORIOUS, a new song written by @stephaniemabey that David lent his equally glorious voice for one of the sound tracks of the movie, Meet the Mormons”. I can just imagine it, some people waiting for the ending credits just to hear David’s voice soar in glorious cinematic space!

We also learned from an interview some glorious nuggets, to wit:

      1. That Project Glorious was conceived while David was still on his mission.

2. That David needed a transition period to get back his English accent. Apparently, the 1st time he sang Glorious, he still had a thick Spanish accent. Now that would have been “muy caliente” to listen to, don’t you think so?!

3. That come 2015, we can look forward to a new release (hopefully an album!) That is what he has been working on these recent months. From the ArchieBoss himself – yipee!
Sunday was a busy day for my family as we were busy hunting down the perfect wedding dress for my soon-to-be daughter-in-lawried (yup son is getting married soon!) but was able to catch the 4:09pm replay of the Sunday Soft Special.

Let’s listen to the full interview and the song Glorious repeatedly :)

There are times when you might feel aimless
You can’t see the places where you belong
But you will find that there is a purpose
It’s been there within you all along
And when you’re near it
You can almost hear it

It’s like a symphony
Just keep listening
And pretty soon you’ll start
To figure out your part
Everyone plays a piece
And there are melodies
In each one of us
Oh, it’s glorious

You will know how
To let it ring out
As you discover who you are
Others around you will start to wake up
To the sounds that are in their hearts
It’s so amazing
What we’re all creating

(Repeat Chorus)

And as you feel the notes build
You will see

(Repeat Chorus)
On the same Sunday, @MeettheMormons tweetted that the Glorious track can be downloaded free from their FB page. Click this link or the image below to do so.

This film, with a theatrical release set on Oct 10, will donate all net proceeds to Red Cross.

Lastly, watch out for the MUSIC VIDEO of GLORIOUS.

Look for the @DavidArchie #Glorious music video this Wednesday at #MeetTheMormons #ShareGoodness #LDS #ldsconf

Let’s hope David, nor just his voice, is part of the music video (keeping fingers crossed).

So what do you think of GLORIOUS? Don’t forget to download, ok?

UPDATE!  Here is the video!

@DavidArchie Goes Gospel – A Snippet Wed, 24 Sep 2014 06:27:12 +0000 redeemer HL pic cropped

Is anyone really surprised? That David’s 1st offering since he came back from his Mission belongs to the Gospel genre?

Am sure some Archies are further wondering whether this will be the direction David will take from now on and forget about his pop roots and more commercial beginnings.

For me? Am just excited to hear his voice on record. And you know what am more thrilled of? The Nashville connection!

Granted that this Nashville Band is actually a Mormon music group founded by Jason Deere and Dan Truman, the pianist of the popular country group Diamond Rio (Source: Wikipedia), am still excited of the prospect of David leaning over Nashville artists. I have a good feeling he will come to his own in that creative space.

Now, I understand a lot of Archies are having trouble playing the snippet over at iTunes, so I put up the YT version for everyone’s convenience.

Tell us what you think of David’s new sound.

~ JR

ps: I know I have been away… Work and hopefully a new work in the near horizon is what has kept me at bay. Anw, I hope to be back now on a regular basis :)
