#ThrowBackTH: David, Jim & Christmas

Christmas and David – like coco and milk. Add JambaJim to the mix and you get marshmallow on top of that divine coco drink! Way back in 2009, October 23 to be exact, David visited the MTV office. He was to promote his 1st Christmas album – Christmas From The Heart. So trust JambaJim to make a quirky event out of the promo gig by asking David to go caroling through the MTV office. That afternoon produced one of the most sought after performance. David sang O Holy Night but it wasn’t shown! Que horror! Four years later and after much cajoling and courting from Archies (that included me, tee-hee), JamnaJim […]

#TBT: New Found Footage of @DavidArchie in the 2009 Kaleidoscope Rehearsal

FROM JR’s VAULT! I was trying to re-upload all my 2009 videos as my 2009 channel got a hit years ago (HAH! hazards of an Archie videoholic) The attempt was made in September but work got in the way, so.. Anyway, in the process of uploading my playlist of the 2009 Kaleidoscope, I found this un-posted footage. It is actually a news feature on Dorothy Hamilton. But around 0:44 mark, our David is shown rehearsing for the 2009 Kaleidoscope with the skating stars of the show – Dorothy Hamill, Scott Hamiltin & Rachel Flat. I wonder how many US fans saw this? 2009 Kaleidoscope was aired in time for Thanksgiving. The theme […]

Michelle Kwan, 2002 Olympics

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wazOhkRuySI” David Archuleta first heard Eva Cassidy sing “Fields of Gold” — and perhaps was first exposed to Eva — while watching Michelle Kwan give this breathtaking performance at the 2002 Olympics. YouCanCallMeTina, an awesome Arch Angel who has generously posted high-quality videos of David’s concerts, took on the task of matching David’s singing to Kwan’s performance. See the original performance set to Eva Cassidy – ronaldsf

David’s Guilty Pleasure?

There is nothing terribly salacious about a guilty pleasure, it can be chocolate or shopping or MTV’s Jersey Shore – just so long as it’s not exactly edifying but oh-so enjoyable. With the sudden appearance of David performing “Don’t Stop Believing” at the Brut Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas, I couldn’t help but wonder… Is David a Glee fan? I mean, it makes perfect sense — why wouldn’t he be? Everyone I know with even the slightest interest in great voices and performing is, to one degree or another, enchanted with the show. It just seems a little odd that David has never mentioned it, nor has he, to my […]

Happy Birthday David

Happy 19th Birthday, David. It’s hard to believe that this is the 2nd birthday we’ve celebrated with you. And the third one since your taped audition for American Idol. We’ve watched you grow and mature in so many ways, and yet, we’ve learned a lot from your innate wisdom over the last few years. Here’s to you on your birthday – with hope that your wishes and dreams all come true – and that we are here to celebrate with you for many years to come. Thanks to djbell13 for this video

Gabriel’s Message

Okay, this has nothing to do with David…. except that this is a captivating holiday song and one that many of us would be overjoyed to hear David sing.  Perhaps we could view this song as a “palette cleanser” – a bit of musical variety in between our journeys into the David vortex.  And please forgive me for getting all music teacherly on you here, but this song begs for analysis. Listen to this song and enjoy.  Then imagine David’s smooth and silky voice singing it.  Pure delight! Gabriel’s Message, by Sting. LYRICS The angel Gabriel from heaven came, His wings as drifted snow, His eyes as flame. “All hail,” said he. “thou lowly maiden […]

Billboardlive.com Live Concert Tonight

Tonight at 8:00 PM Eastern Billboardlive.com will broadcast David Archuleta singing live from the Foxwoods Resort. Some people have expressed concern about the technology being used, so I thought I’d give a little background on it and perhaps ease your mind when you get that download link from Billboardlive.com. The plug-in used to manage the broadcast on your browsers is called Silverlight.  What is Silverlight?  According to Microsoft, “Silverlight is a cross-browser, cross-platform and cross-device browser plug-in that helps companies design, develop and deliver applications and experiences on the Web. A free download that installs in seconds, Silverlight enables a new class of rich, secure and scalable cross-platform experiences.” There are many […]

Loving San Francisco

First, I must apologize that this report was written a bit hastily. Still, I wanted to make sure you heard about my San Francisco experience sooner rather than later. (Also – I have not yet read Liz’s review, just so I could give you yet another fresh impression.) I had seen none of the Christmas Tour videos, and though I had been at a Meet & Greet during the AI Tour, this was my first VIP experience. I was particularly excited to meet David, and, knowing I would only have a few seconds, couldn’t wait until I asked him whether he had read a certain couple of poems that, you know, […]

Taking Us to Church

I must admit that David scares me sometimes.  He digs a whole lot deeper than I would ever expect from an 18 year old of the Wired Generation.  When I impatiently downloaded Christmas from the Heart on iTunes after Amazon.com failed to deliver my physical CD on time (hey – I don’t mind shilling out moolah for my beloved Voice), I was quite giddy listening to the Voice’s interpretation of Christmas carols I’ve heard all my life. They all sounded so different from what I’m used to hearing. It wasn’t until I finally received  my physical CD and popped it into my surround sound stereo that I actually heard Christmas from the […]
