Warm fuzzy of the week

News
Our Box Office Manager, Bruce, says a patron donated 26 cans of soup on Thursday to the Redwood Empire Food Bank and purchased five tickets to the December 13th David Archuleta Christmas concert. In exchange for her food donation and ticket purchase, we provided her with five complimentary tickets to the concert. The patron says she’ll be donating the concert tickets to Santa Rosa area high school students. So nice!!

There are tons of great tweets. Here’s one that got me…
@hollyreFOD Holly
I’m standing with a really great guy. I cried during OHN. He patted my back and said “that moves me to tears.and I’m Jewish.”
I liked that one from Holly too JR. In fact I was in tears just thinking about it!!
Sounds like another great night in Irving!
Saw a brief tweet from Marlie!! I’m sure she will tell us all about it when she recovers.
Gahhhhhhhhhh! OMG, amazing, powerful, awesome, stupendous, absolutely the BEST concert -- his voice, his confidence, his sense of humor. I’m in love all over again. More later!
Okay, he changed the setlist for tonight. So, I’ll try to remember and edit up top. Gah! I’m so excited to see him at VIP tomorrow.
Marlie -- you a little excited? LOL
JR -- I am -- gah. I can’t remember the order of the music. Someone will have to tell me LOL
Well, keep calm, it will come back to you, LOL.
Did you like LDB?

Hi JR! Another concert complete in Verona. I’m glad you archive because I’m trying not to watch any videos until after the tour because I’m going to SLC and Beaver Creek.
Been thinking of Marlie et al and all the reports have been great.
Thanks for all you do!! Can you come with Naree?
Nah, can’t come with Naree. Although I asked her if she can slip me in her one of her luggage -- am small I can fit!
I believe she is going to 8 shows so she will have plenty of goodies -- pix & vids for us when she comes back 🙂
So happy that you could go to two shows! Safe travels and have fun! Say hi to David for me 🙂
Last story I told here was about missed opportunities. This time fate went my way…. I had purchased tickets for me and my niece (birthday present) to the Salt lake City show. Then circumstances dictated that I would not be able to go. Sadly, I gave my ticket to her mother. A couple of weeks ago, a co-worker asked if I would trade shifts with him, giving me Monday, the 19th off. So now I have the night off but no ticket to go see David ,and in a situation unsure if I could purchase another ticket. Contemplating my situation last Monday, I looked up tickets on line and found that they were still available. But, I didn’t purchase them. Going to work on Friday, I decided that -- yep- I could afford them and stopped at Abravanel Hall. I asked for a particular seat I had found on line and the gentleman informed me it was no longer available and looked at his computer for another seat. He looked at me and said the ONLY seat that is still available is first tier- third row. I told him that I guess I better take it then. 😉
So, I guess I can say that the Salt Lake City concert is now SOLD OUT! 😀
Oh my goodness Cutter -- it was meant to be. YOU purchased the last available seat! YAY!
Good morning! Wow, David’s performance at Turning Stone was EVEN BETTER than the one at Irving Plaza (mostly due to the fabulous venue and acoustics). David was on fire and put so much energy into every song -- he must be just exhausted when the performances are over each night.
I’ll be writing a recap, as I had a wonderful, albeit short, chat with David at VIP, and I also asked a question that I’ll tell you about. Met up with HG, Freo, Burkey, SilverFox, refnaf, Tofan, and many others. I can’t say I’ve had a better time at an event (although I missed not having davidfanliz there!)
YAY! A min reunion of ND veterans 🙂 Very cool indeed!
Can’t wait for your recap
Okay, my review is up!

Concert Review: David Archuleta -- My Kind of Christmas
There is nothing like David Archuleta’s kind of Christmas! After experiencing David’s Christmas show Friday night at the Irving Plaza in NYC, all I can say is WOW. Pops songs, Christmas songs, old songs, new songs and even some poetry, performing in English, Spanish, Latin and French… what a show!!
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AhkbGhArwNk/TtsuzKdpS2I/AAAAAAAAGBw/iY06ZqPIh9E/s1600/1.png
David started the show with a fun, upbeat “Sleigh Ride” that got the crowd pumped and in the holiday spirit. David’s first set held a mix of pop and Christmas songs, both classic and original works. His take on holiday tunes like “This Christmas” and “The Christmas Song” were marvelous, one person even saying he sang it better than Nat King Cole himself. As for the pop songs, not only did David sing his new single “Wait,” but he also sang a stunning version of the song “Climb Every Mountain,” singing it in honor of children and the charity ChildFund he’s sponsoring while on tour. David performed the song better than ever, hitting some unbelievable notes and showing his passion for the lyrics.
When David came back out for his second set, he was dressed in a festive, black jacket and scarf, and was strictly in Christmas mode, singing songs like “Pat-a-pan” in French and “Riu Riu Chiu” in Spanish. But that wasn’t the only Spanish song of the night when David called kids onto the stage to read them his adorable “My Kind of Christmas” poem and then have a “party” on stage as he sang his new, original song “Fa La La La La.” David explained that he was going to introduce everyone to some of his holiday tradition, singing this half English/half Spanish holiday tune as he played maracas and danced some Bachata! That song definitely showcased David’s kind of Christmas and was one of the highlights of the night. Toward the end of his set, David took it down with slower ballads like a cover of Amy Grant’s “I Need A Silent Night,” as well “O Holy Night” and “Silent Night,” two songs that David has perfected in the past and didn’t cease to amaze once again.

Ending with “Silent Night,” it didn’t take long after he left the stage for the crowd to start chanting his name, and finally David came back out for one more song, “Little Drummer Boy.” This last performance would have gotten a standing ovation if it wasn’t already a standing room! Between David’s smooth voice and the rock tempo added into the song, this performance was already great, but that was before the ending. David turned around toward the drums, picked up some sticks, then ran back to the mic, raising his sticks in the air and hitting another amazing note before running back to the bass drum and banging on it. This drummer boy left the crowd cheering and me speechless as I couldn’t help but think of how far he has come and how much confidence he’s gained with his performances.

With a variety of music for everyone, lots of surprises and Christmas spirit throughout the concert, that was by far one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
One final thing, the opening act Jeff LeBlanc was awesome! Really laid back, enjoyable songs, and Jeff really knows how to connect with his audience and give them a unique show. You can read my interview with Jeff HERE.
