Just in case there was any doubt that David thinks of his fans with great compassion and appreciation, here he is making a happy treat for the lovely ladies (and handsome gentlemen) at notingDavid! Thanks, David!

The next edition of AI will be like political moves that we seldom know anything about…or may want to …Cook will take his place where he needs to be placed…according to the game plan…It will be over then thank heavens…
Let it happen and just ignore it right along with David…he has much more on the world scene to plan for…
Here is a question…Do you people think that Cook has become a star with staying power? How big is he in the music industry or how successful is he? I have heard little and read little about him that is very exciting…I have never taken to him musically…
I hate saying this, but Cook got the national NYE appearance with Fox because he won Idol. If David would have won, he would have done the Fox national NYE show. I think that David was contractually constricted from taking a national NYE show (it’s that *very* constrictive Idol contract again), actually, so that’s why he did the local show.
Sandy,
I have nothing against Cook, but I think he sounds like everything else out there. I don’t see him being a huge star with staying power. I don’t follow him at all so I don’t know what promo he has done, but can say that without following him, I have heard little or nothing about him.
That is weird that ALTNOY is not being promoted. But do you think that Idol could have that much power to keep his record label and management from promoting it? Couldn’t Arzoff and Jive fight that legally?
That is why I sometimes wished that David would have had opportunities to make it other than on Idol. He will be compared to Cook for the forseeable future and perhaps seen as the one who came second. In as much the success Clay has had -- his idol history will always be remembered as runner-up to Ruben. That’s the only problem I have with David not being allowed to win.
Perhaps then, I may have been free to -- (gasp) like Cook a bit more and continued to enjoy the show without a stake in it. DJA changed all that for me this year and while I will watch the show because I am a talent show junkie, glimpses or references to Cook will always be painful. I don’t blame him necessarily but the producers who manipulated his win.
Joymus, I hear you on that!
I love the song, “Billy Jean” (one of my favorites!), so I enjoyed Cook’s singing of it. The producers’ manipulation left such a sour taste in my mouth, though.
I always prefer references to David as either artist or singer/songwriter rather than aI runner-up. I know, I know…. he is charting his own history but the archives of this show years from now will always have him described as such.
Hey Joymus! Great minds think alike! 🙂
Freofan, Jive is under the same umbrella as AI, owned by Simon Fuller. Unfortunately, I do believe their influence is that high.
Thanks -- Sis, cuz or whatever…LOL!
HG, Yeah, I think something weird is going on with ALNOY. I’d think he’d have some national appearances in NYC when he’s out there. Maybe he’s already in NYC this weekend.
On a different topic, we haven’t heard from rascal in awhile. I hope he is ok. He did mention that his work got some not-so-great financial news.
Freo,
I’m also concerned about Ras. I almost posted earlier..
HEY RASCAL!! WE MISS YOU!
Of all the songs that Cook performed on AI, “Always Be My Baby” was his best, IMO. It’s the one I bought on itunes and it’s the one I thought really showed his personality and his strategic attempts to stand out in the competition in a genuine way. It didn’t hurt that, during that same week, I was annoyed that David handicapped himself by choosing “When You Believe” (playing right into Simon’s mean-spirited comments that the song was exactly what he thought someone like David would sing -- i.e. sappy, sentimental ballad boy that he was labeled to be). I had wanted David to sing Mariah Carey’s remake of the Jackson 5’s “I’ll Be There” (you know the song he was singing on his way to greet Kathy Griffin). So, when Cook came on and rocked out “Always Be My Baby” I had a real appreciation for it in a way I thought his rock versions of Lionel Richie’s “Hello” and Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” were manipulative.
I have profound issues that Cook became a frontrunner by appropriating popular iconic R&B songs from the 80s, while contestants who sang R&B straight (like Syesha) were considered “unoriginal” and contestants like Chikizie who took real risks, IMO, by doing bluegrassy/folk renditions of Beatles songs like “She’s a Woman” and “I Just Seen Her Face” were not given the same praise. There was a way that the “rocker” got unfairly praised for being “original” when I thought others who played instruments (Brooke White, Jason Castro) or did interesting arrangements (Chikizie, David on “Think of Me”) were not recognized for the same thing.
You will remember, outside of David’s rock-emo arrangements of pop songs, his other performances didn’t really register as anything interesting. That’s why, when they gave him U2’s song, he didn’t offer anything new, while David blew him out of the water. If there’s one AI video I love revisiting, it’s David’s DLTSGDOM performance. His chill-inducing performance, the standing ovation he received (before he finished singing!), the spontaneous reaction of the judges (Paula raising her hand at the end of the song to “testify” to David’s spirit, Randy blurting out “wow!”, and Simon having to give praise where praise was due), and Ryan doing what he does best in supporting the contestants (the way he had to rush to David’s side when he seemed about to faint when Simon announced it was the best performance he’s given the whole season) make the whole moment something to capture and relive again. It’s also testimony to how David was the best thing that happened to Idol Season 7 and that he had done enough to win.
I just wish TPTB (and American voters) had realized that. But, c’est la vie.
I too hope Rascal is OKay and still has his job. Joymus, you can call me “Sis.” 🙂
HG 459- I agree with you -- and they will do anything to keep the money-making AI machine alive and well and keep the public believing that they are a star-producing machine; and they don’t care who they have to throw under the bus to do it. The more successful AI winners are, the more money TPTB make. And with the depressed state of the music business and economy these days, it is probably more true than ever. Just my very uneducated opinion.
Good points, emmegirl08. I just wish TPTB realized that having a successful winner and runner-up enhances the franchise. David’s success in no way undermines their goals. Or what am I missing here?
I just learned from Snarky’s that David is slated to do another radio promo in NYC (in addition to the one we’ve already heard about):
According to Jessica, “they just said david is going to be on PLJ from 6-10 on Tuesday!” PLJ is a NY radio station. I am assuming it’s 6-10 AM?
On the other hand…..
Crush is #20 on iTunes Pop Videos
ALTNOY is #30 and…
Cook’s Light On is #36
Good stats! Thanks for the update, Marlie. Freofan, should I assume this upcoming NYC radio interview is to coincide with his Hard Rock Cafe performance? Good to see his promos are continuing, with or without interference from TPTB.
David is a Beacon of Light -- A Beacon of Hope for this generation. Not only is he an amazing singer -- a superstar in the making -- but the positive qualities he possesses -- his tenderness, gentleness, thoughtfulness, his appreciation of his fans and the simple things in life -- all this and more is why I LOVE DAVID.
Well, it is time…first and foremost…never mind the banter about runner up and second place trash those journalists and tv people use…But, we have been thinking about rascal…anyone know how he is doing? Just need to know…
rascal is alive and breathing
Hi everyone! I’m posting to let you all know that rascal is fine -- actually working very hard! I let him know you’re all thinking of him and I’m sure he’ll pop in once he has the opportunity, but for now -- I’m the messenger!
Hugs to all of you! ♥ ♥
Thanks Josie! VERY happy to hear Rascal’s OK! 🙂
………………
I can’t help but feel manipulated with the lack of promotion of ALTNOY and just thinking about season 7 gets my blood boiling again. I told my husband that I will not be watching AI this season (unless of course David performs). He thinks my emotional intensity on this subject is humorous but I honestly don’t know if I’ll ever get over last year’s results and everything that led up to them. I think the only thing that will heal me is when David gets the affirmation he deserves.
And it’s funny, I’m sitting here with my feathers all ruffled and David seems so completely satisfied with the way everything is going. Although I think it’s really nice that he’s seems so easy going and stuff, I just don’t want him to be a pushover, especially in this business. I hope the rumours of his assertiveness are true.
If anyone could teach people how to be assertive without being a jerk, I think David could.
Joner, ditto everything you said! Especially your last sentence: “If anyone could teach people how to be assertive without being a jerk, I think David could.”
Josie, thanks for the update about Rascal. Glad to know he’s doing fine and working hard. 🙂
Josie#472 Thanks for letting us know that Rascal is fine and that we are thinking of him. I woke up this morning wondering if he was OK. Was almost to the point of bothering him with an email just to wish him well and tell him he is missed when I’m sure he is really busy. So thank you.
I’ll make sure he knows you’re all thinking of him -- I promise!
Josie, thanks for letting us know that Rascal is okay. He is loved a lot by his ND “family”.
#473 Joner hi! I don’t post often but I just read your thoughts. I too was kind of shocked when Cook won. I still find it dubious he got 12 million votes more than David A. But, when it was announced my husband said it really doesn’t matter because David A. has the obvious talent and will go on to experience great success. Well, so far he’s been right! I’m so happy about that. Also, Joner, the way it turned out just gave us another chance to see David’s graciousness. He was such a sweet loser. I wonder if Cook would have done the same. LONG LIVE DAVID JAMES ARCHULETA!!!
Thanks for the info on rascal -- was just about ready to organize a search party.
Glad to hear Rascal is doing well, although busy!
I didn’t really mind David not winning Idol. (Well, you know what I mean). But I do mind his career and ratings being manipulated by unscrupulous practices behind the scenes, now. And the media persists in saying his “teen/tween” fanbase, when WE (of all people) know better.
Okay, I’m getting off that topic now. (breathe, breathe)
In the long run, David will do just fine.
HG, Maggie, Marlie -- Our love for David is tangible. I think we all feel he got ripped off and are seeking restitution somehow.
As far as the teen/tween fanbase issue, when Freo and I planned the Chicago Jingle Bash party, everyone that RSVP’d was between 25 and 60 years old!
That being said, I adore his teen/tween fans. That are showing exceptionally good taste and will be able to enjoy growing along with David and his career.
Speaking of which, David (or Jeff) if you are out there reading this, I’ve already memorized the first CD and need some new material. I am old and would appreciate it if you could “step up the pace” on the next CD. I would like to be alive to witness David’s next coup. Thank you. 🙂
Here’s a question -- and maybe it’s been answered, but I was poking around Z100’s website and I noticed that they removed Crush from their playlist. Anyone know why? It’s so odd, because there are many “old” songs still on there.
??
Joner -- your note just pulled me out of my funk -- thank you! 🙂
Josie -- In response to your question…
ma⋅nip⋅u⋅la⋅tion /məˌnɪpyəˈleɪʃən/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [muh-nip-yuh-ley-shuhn] Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun 1. the act of manipulating.
2. the state or fact of being manipulated.
3. skillful or artful management.
IS IT JUST ME????
Joner-really? Are they boycotting David? Why?
I just want to throw this out there: Do any of you live in California (specifically Orange County)? I want to find some fellow David fans that would want to attend David’s concert with me. My husband said he’ll go but he’s not a rabid fan like me. It would be more fun to experience it with a devotee like myself. Just askin’.
Josie -- I don’t think they are “boycotting” him per se, but I strongly feel they’ve been instructed to back off promotion in favor of Cook’s “Light On” right now because the new season of AI is starting and they want the buzz to be about how successful last year’s idol is doing on the charts. This is just my opinion but I don’t think I’m alone in my feelings.
Gosh Joner-that seems unimaginable to me that they would do such a thing. I guess I’m blinded by my hopes for David’s success that to think that anyone would try to keep him down really saddens me.
Josie -- No worries. In the long run I honestly don’t think there is anything that is capable of keeping David’s career down, he is simply much too talented to be ignored.
It’s a business and TPTB are “in it to win it”. They’re gonna to do what they think they need to do.
At the end of the day, David’s star will shine, it’s too bright to be extinguished IMHO.
I find it odd that Z100 has not invited David into the studio with his NYC trip and recent ALTNOY release. We know they are big fans of his. I think that Joner may be on to something, that they have been asked to back off. Crush is still doing well in the charts, so no reason they would have taken the song off otherwise.
Josie, thanks for passing along word of Rascal!
I just have to delurk to say that I can not believe that TPTB are so short-sighted that they don’t appreicate having last year’s two top idols being successful. It only makes Idol look more important as a hit-maker, star-maker which is they way they want to be seen. However, I have long felt that there were other things involved in not ever hearing David on my local top40 station (with Ryan S on in the afternoon -- Star101.3 in the SF Bay Area) but have been waiting patiently to see how things would eventually shake down after people start focusing more on the next Idol crop. How can then not see that they gain respect when both Davids succeed?
Joner -- Yep, David will be the “brightest star.” That is part of my problem. I honestly believe his talent and persona are capable of propelling him to the very top, the VERY top; and I am really impatient because I want the whole world to see and acknowledge what we see. I want him to have all the kudos and credit that he so deserves.I want him to spread his musicality and message to the entire world, (that’s all.) All in due time, all in due time, all in due time…
Collegemom -- Idol simply looks at Cook right now as an “investment” and they want to make sure they get a return on their investment for future investments. It’s a business…period.
David will be successful without their promotional help and they will claim that his success was due to them, and let’s face it, there is some truth to that. The world would not have been introduced to David Archuleta in such a profound way without American Idol.
Ouch…it hurt me to have to type that!
Hi Everyone:
I just want to say that I think ALTNOY will do fabulously in the Top 40; I think it will be a different type of assent from “Crush.” I believe Jive knows what it is doing and is behind its artists. Marketing isn’t to the mature fans. I also believe that Azoff is doing an excellent job promoting David. I believe David’s destiny will be realized as it is meant to be.
SandyBeaches #424 Your idea was a lifesaver! I had my routine doctor’s appt today and always get nervous when she takes my b/p. I’m borderline high but it’s never been high enough to require meds. Seems that when I test it at home it’s fine but when the doc tests it in the office, it’s a little high. The doc left the room for a few minutes before she came back in to check my b/p. I used those five minutes to ‘listen to’ David sing “Barriers”, in my mind. Voila…I had perfect b/p!! 🙂
ok I will just trust the Archuleta! (and try to be patient).
Kizzi. Brilliant. ITA. I discovered that if a radio station maintains a playlist based on Mediabase then they drop a song if it falls outside the Top 30 or 40. Can’t remember which.
ALTNOY is destined for Superstardom!!
Speaking of trying to be patient…isn’t it about time that David blogs us or something???
David, where are you?????
**fingers drumming on desk**
Silverfox has good radar on this…
SF, are you picking up on any vibes???
I wonder if David is flying to New York today.
Just popped in and found out all is good with Rascal. That’s a relief! Thanks for letting us know Josie. How hospitable for Rascal to leave us with the BROWNIES to enjoy while he’s been out! Such manners…
Josie -- {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} thanks for the info on rascal. The fearless leader is missed.
Crush is strong in Florida -- #6 on my local radio station and played on the Ryan Secreast daily segment and I drove through Jacksonville, Gainesville, Orlando, Tampa, Sarasota, Fort Myers and Tallahassee last week and heard it on all the Pop stations. Heard ALTNOY in Orlando and Jacksonville too. It’s my monthly drive and I have a little fun tracking David’s music on the Pop stations in the different cities as a drive (keep me awake and feeds my analytical drive--usually in overdrive 🙂 ).
So here is my fun story for the day: Was at a furniture store waiting for my items to be loaded to my car and was talking to 2 store employees, a 20-something guy and a 19 yo girl (I asked her how old she was). Chris Brown’s “With You” was playing overhead and the guy was singing along under his breath. I mentioned I heard Chris Brown sing live at Madison Square Garden last month and then we started talking about Leona Lewis, Kanye West, Katie Perry, Ne-Yo, Rhianna, etc. They asked who I saw at MSG and I mentioned the above plus a couple of others and last I mentioned David. They both immediately smiled up, stood up straighter, eyes sparkled and asked if he sang “Crush” and what else. We talked about him and the 20-something guy said he had David’s I-Tunes pre-release album and played it a lot. The 19 yo girl said she loved “Crush” and voted like crazy for him. She asked the 20-something guy if she could listen to his I-Tunes album and the tracks that weren’t available anymore. I was the observer of this exchange for the most part. No, David isn’t my cyber-secret anymore.
HI all!
{{{hugs}}} to RASCAL for the challenges he faces at work. JOSIE thank you for updating us that our host is doing well. With the slew of good pix, you never know whether he has thudded to the max, you know what I mean? Haha
SF on #400 -- REALLY? You have the mag for me! Woo-hoo!!! Just keep it for me and I will get that form you myself, one fine day! Thank you so much! I checked here and we don’t get that mag, even in the imported section so you are a darling as always!
RE TPTB’s “manipulation” post AI season -- par for the course, right? They could not afford to f*&^ up 2x wrt to their resident “rockers”. 1st they let Daughtry get away who proved to be the most successful non-AI winner — well that is until Our David came along of course…. Next they ram Their David into our throats who is still receiving lukewarm and tentative response from the larger market compared to the strides Daughtry made. For me, Cook’s performance should be compared to Daughtry, not with Our David for the simple reason that he insists that he belongs to the rock genre.
Also, bear in mind what we discussed many threads ago… remember the research I made re 19E & AI? This is not only about ratings… this is the survival of the franchise -- of the mother company in fact, because it is always under threat to be bought out by other parties. We are talking of thousands of jobs at stake here and I suppose millions if not billions of investment… Considering the challenges the US economy is facing now, the more that TPTB are hard pressed to do some magical sommersaulting to usher in AI S8 and make it more successful than S7.
Geesh, that’s tough & tall order.
Collegemom--I’ve wondered also why Ryan S. doesn’t play David’s songs like I would have thought he would. I finally heard it on B98.7 here in Utah just the other day. I finally felt a little satisfaction.
Would someone explain exactly what is TPTB?
504 tawna21 -- TPTB/the powers that be
The truth is, this is probably the absolute worst time in decades to be breaking into the music business, and
David is doing exceptionally well, considering.
HG on #463 -- DLTSGDOM was very meaningful to me. That performance said it all wrt to his integrity as an artist. For he knew the jig was up at Top4. But he still gave his all because he of the impression that he wanted to leave with the public. And he succeeded.
That outstanding, mind blowing and chill inducing performance wasn’t about the competition anymore. That was about fighting for his honor. That despite all the shenanigans, this young man -- wise beyond his years -- has his music flowing through his veins, breathing it as his air — he won’t be put down, TPTB.
TRIVIA QUESTION: How many “crazy/crazy vocals” did Randy shout after Our David performed? I always have a kick every time I view DLTSGDOM on account of Randy’s reaction. That was unscripted, spontaneous -- he could not contain his amazement! he even had that pointing action to David (you-you-you face & hand gesture 🙂
Hi everyone! Been lurking here off & on all day..
I guess I better fess up..I’ve been checking the weather forecast reports for NYC. And yes, cuz I’m worried about David having to travel in snowy & icy conditions. Call me cra-zeh, but I’d be doing the same thing if it were one of my own kids flying to NYC. In fact, I’d be trying to talk them out of it! I’m hoping David is already there, but I expect he will arrive tomorrow or very early Monday. As far as another blog from David..nothing new happening since the last one, so maybe we’ll get one after he does the Hard Rock gig and the two radio promos..What I’m hoping for though, is a VLOG..If he’s holed up in a hotel due to snow, he may do a vlog cuz he’ll have the time..you know how he has “issues” with vlogs and needs more time to do them. hahaha!
I’m pro-buh-blee WAY off base here, but this is my feeling.
Glad to hear rascal’s ok..Sendin good vibes to you rascal!!
JR, you are so very welcome!
I wanted to ask you also, if you have a copy of David’s Life Story magazine?
jackryan4DA -- love your comments. I agree, David knew he wasn’t going to win weeks before Finale night. His reactions to Simon saying “this round goes to Archuleta” again and again are priceless. You could tell he was absolutely dumbfounded and confused. VBit it didn’t matter, the groundwork had already been laid for the Cook win.
For me, Randy has the most integrity of all of the judges.
Love Randy!
On the X factor videos, after almost all of David’s performances especially in the second half of the season, Simon looks over to Nigel for his cue before he gives his comments. Why does all of this still gall me so?
Thanks emmegirl108
I agree, David is doing exceptionally well and we just have to keep doing our part in support for him.
‘Ya gotta love what he’s doing for all of us-- and the rest of the world (whether they realize what he’s all about or not). He’s setting a standard.

Well said. I have been thinking about the manipulation surrounding David and that may still be in operation. I know TPTB thought they could do it because David didn’t need to win to succeed. I just can’t forgive them for it or forget the expression on his face when he got through pouring his heart out on the stage on finale night. There was nothing left. He had given every bit of himself in that performanc. They can try to block David’s progress, but it’s liking trying to stop the sun from rising. The sun will never go down on this phenomenal young man. The fact that TPTB know this and think it gives them the right to screw with his career then and now, pisses me off. I have one word for them….Karma.
I think I am delurking. Not very tech oriented lol
silly did not know how to post--well truth is I was comfortable lurking but kinda kept feeling like I wanted to join in so i think i here I am I think?--love that DA
512 -- hello- we love him too.
Nite all!
Interesting review of David’s CD from Dave Carter of the Beacon Herald in Stratford, Ontario, Canada
http://www.stratfordbeaconherald.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1382746
He speaks pretty highly of David’s talent, doesn’t particularly like the tracks on the CD, but his last few sentences are interesting ..
“The songs didn’t give him much to work with. The only track that changes things up a bit is the intro to Your Eyes Don’t Lie.
David Archuleta has the talent, now he just needs the tools.”
(performanc). They can try to block David’s progress, but it’s (liking)
Should read: performance and like
Hope everyone has a good nite!
And for David…I hope you have a safe flight to NYC, or if you’re already there, very glad you had a safe flight! Stay warm!
Dear Lord, Though we are unworthy to ask,
Please take Care Of David. Watch over him, Protect him from all harm. Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path. Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give. Surround David with loving and supportive people who love him UNCONDITIONALLY as we, his ARCHANGELS do. Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his wellbeing. Give him rest when he’s weary. Give him stamina to sustain his hectic pace. Give him assurance when he feels doubt. Give him joy when he feels sad. Cloak him always in your protective arms. Keep David healthy & strong as he fulfills his Destiny which was written in his Book of Life before he was born.
This, though we may be unworthy, humbly pray,
Amen.
Sweet dreams! Be safe & secure in our love always! Take care. You will always be numero uno in our eyes! Thank you for all you do and for just being you!
CONTIGO SIEMPRE CON AMOR!
I know David doesn’t see this, but I hope he can feel the love!
OOh I am on--Oh Boy my first experience with blogging.
can’t beleive I am doing this but I am. I have been lurking ooohh sooo long! anyway in my lurkdom i got to know all of you and lol sometimes-- Forgive me for this-- I would think “Oh my they are so sappy for this kid” and than I would realize that yes I too get sappy over this young man. I too am no youngin. No teen idols like this when I was a teen. And here i am with ODD still after a year. I would like to be one f the ND crowd as crazy as any one of my freinds may think I am. You guys seem like a good bunch of kooks like me—oh I love that rascal too always did when I was lurking.
If I may.
I will share when my “addiction” began--I missed a lot of episodes in previous years had evening work commitments and such, but always kinda tuned i towards the final 7 or so--Loved Clay. Elliot, Daughtry, John peter lewis--Never got obcessed with any of them—Ahh David--Yes I heard Heaven and The VOICE drew me out of the kitchen to see who that was--i became intrigued but not obcessed yet.
It was the night of the final 12 that got me really got me!
You see i had already seen Shoparound--where i noticed this young man was falling in love with his audience--I witnessed his beautiful rendition of Imagine
than the night I came home to see the big show--So help me this is true--I think i can share this with you and you all will understand--I had a premonition before the show even started--I knew he would bomb (I hate to use that word, because ultimately he did not bomb, but that was the feeling I had) I just knew he would mess up--I had no reason to be so sure of it--But I was and my freind that watches it from home and calls me for commentary on commercials had to deal with my frantic anxiety--i keep sying “the Kid he is going to bomb” I was so upset pacing the floor--Halfway thru the show--I said to my freind He is going last, I know he is going last and he is going to freak out-- I just knew It was so weird powerful knowing. you know-- and I kept thinking why am I so tuned to this kid on a TV? and than it cam e to me like a voice from another world--you know guys that spiritual place--I hear in my head and my heart--yes this will be hard on him, but it is part of his journey and I accepted it not happy about it but I had to go with it--and than there he was last and I cringed when I heard him say on the videothat he never heard of the Beatlles and he was nervous--OCh I was in tears--at the end of the show my friend called me astonished “how did you know that? I did not know how to explain but I knew my message was to trust in Gods plan for him--especcially the following week when with trepdation but faith(you know what I mean—He blew us AWAY! tEars again That beautiful smile and gleam in his eye--Yes i knew--this is a spirit rising!
Shontelle left a comment in her Kyte channel
“lol yea i talked to him (david) yesterday and he’s doing just fine 🙂 I’m so an ArchAngel LOL…. yea he really is amazing and a genuinely nice person so that’s why I’ll always have his back! HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS!!! Shout out to Rih Rih. Wuddup Shortman!!!! ”
FYI -- Rih Rih is Rihanna, Shortman is that guy that was with them dressed in a pink shirt. I think he is part of Shontelle’s band.
Welcome samsfan! Kooks? You jest. hahahaha!
okay--I am in can someone help me withan avator?

I am so excited that i finally decided to jump in about ND you guys are good people--
That little voice said--I am going in!—HA HA i am a little nuts. I do belong here--I know I ramble when i blog and will probuh lee continue to do so!
samsfan#517 Loved your post. Thank you for coming out of lurkdom and sharing your ODD. I know what you mean about getting a spiritual communication that messing up would be hard on him but it was part of his journey. On results night, I was so anxious awaiting the results to be announced. I went into the bathroom and said a prayer during the commercial before the winner was announced. The feeling I got was so powerful…he was not going to win. But along with that feeling came the conviction that it was all in the plan and things were unfolding as they should be. So when I walked out of the bathroom to view the announcement of Cook as the winner, I was not surprised. I felt a peace that David was in much larger hands and the picture was much bigger than my TV screen.
I haven’t been able to leave this alone -- this thing that is going on with the VH1 polls, etc. So I was remembering a post that Rascal did a while back and found it -- it’s worth another read:
http://www.notingdavid.org/2008/11/the-jive-strategy/
Greetings to everyone!
Rascal, I love your SOT video!! Such great response and awesome promo for David!
Josie, I was wondering about Z100 too… I felt a little better when I went to videos on demand and found that Crush is one of Romeo’s top five picks. I wish Elvis would bring him back to the Morning Show.

Angelica--I know exactly what you mean--It is so weird and so beautiful about David--we all seem to be connected to him.
I had other odd things relayed to me during the competition--just little things but I was drawn to him and I worried for him and I knew he would be ok all at the same time. In many ways I relate to his shyness--which was another phenomenomal aspect of his being on the AI machine. Those contestants are so exposed--It takes tremendous courage for any of them to step out like that,
but David Oh there is something extraordinary about him--i think even beyond his musical ability which is brillant.
I knew he would not win--Many coworkers at work after the finale performance said he was gonna win--i knew he would not. not just spitually but I knew Cook had outsold him on Itunes and Cook not doing well at the finale caused many of his fans to vote twicw as hard. Sure enough two of my co workeres told me they had voted like crazy(they never voted before) because they felt sorry for him--all part of the plan--I think it may have bbeen a bit of a plot on AI part--especially wit Simons comments lHe knew what he was doing. I cant blame cook entirely cos one never knows and I believe even without the manipulation Cook may have won anyway--David was not ready and like Rascal had implied. He was better not winning--I was relieved in a way that he did not win and I think DJ was too--i think he may have been too much pressure for him and some Cook lovers that admired DJ as well may have resented him for winning--
You are right--Much bigger than the TV screen The Journey is the Journey
Bebereader…#496…So glad to hear that listening to David sing in your mind did so much for your BP at the docs…David can calm the body and soothe the soul …give palpatations to the heart and visions of a wonderful smile to the mind…
Good night everyone!!
Does anyone remember how long it took for Crush to hit the Top 20 on VH1? Been wildcarding ALTNOY @ 1 but doesn’t seem to do anything. I also voted for Beyonces single ladies @ 3 (just think that’s such a fun video & I love to dance!) & it hit #1, so what’s up with that? Yeah, I realize I don’t have that kind of control but I’m sure it helped. About the “Conspiracy Theory” -- I totally believe that’s happening cuz 1) they have all that money tied up with the AI winner and wouldn’t cut the head off to feed the hand (or whatever that saying is); 2)consequently tied up David to control his successes and how it affects #1); 3) if it wasn’t for Azoff, nothing would have happened for David’s promotion of Crush & his album; 4) as I said in a previous post, is ALTNOY the fans responsibility because we pushed to have it be the 2nd single? (no knock on Azoff & esp not David cuz he’s just doing whatever they ask him to do). What responsibilities does the record company have? 5) TPTB are scared of David -- he possesses so many great qualities that they never could have imagined existed in one beautiful, gifted, kind and genuine being.
They must be amazed at all the positive feedback from everyone (in the business) who meets him. They all love him. And I now love Shontelle, too. That blog of hers was soooo cool……….she’ll always have his back.
HG, I blogged you last month about the CD & why you played the songs in the sequence that you did. Then I went on vacation for a week; got snowed in after barely getting home right before Christmas; entertained a houseful (12 quests for 4 days); more snow, torential rains, etc. Anyway, barely had time to visit this site & feed my ODD. Of course, you’ve been busy, too. Anyways, I would still like to know why you positioned the songs the way you did. It worked for me, too. Just not sure why. Am now addicted to the CD, so much so that Zune has awarded me some Silver power listener badge.
Welcome, samsfan! You are among “kooky” friends here! 🙂
Juliebug, do you have a link to Shontelle’s blog? I’m loving her right now, esp. for her “that’s why I’ll always have his back!” comment. Not only is she a true ArchAngel, I’d be happy to induct her into the Sistas branch of the fanbase -- with myself, brooklyndawn, Joymus, ebonyangel, and SF (gotta include the Latinas too! Am I missing anyone?).
JR, so true that DLTSGDOM was no longer about the competition. Which is why it was so transcendental.
fandaforever, whenever you or anyone mentions Azoff, I’m reminded this is probably the main reason TPTB are not as supportive of Our David as we would like. They are some petty petty people, and it wouldn’t surprise me if they have issues that he and Jeff broke their contract with 19M to work with Azoff.
About my David Archuleta Remix CD, I remember going into details about my arrangement months back. I’m listening to it right now (woke up from a dream I don’t remember and can’t get back to sleep), so I’ll do my best to think back to my reasoning.
1. Crush
2. Let Me Go
3. Waiting for Yesterday
4. A Little Too Not Over You
5. Barriers
6. Running
7. Falling
8. Desperate
9. My Hands
10. Don’t Let Go
11. To Be With You
12. Works for Me!
13. Your Eyes Don’t Lie
14. You Can
15. Touch My Hand
16. Angels
17. Somebody Out There
The impulse to rearrange had a lot to do with fully integrating the bonus tracks. I found these to be superior to some of the tracks that made it to the main CD, and since I believe Works for Me!, Somebody Out There, and Waiting for Yesterday all got robbed, I wanted to reposition them in a different way than just have them be “add ons.” The other rationale had to do with melodic and lyrical themes. I thought Let Me Go had enough rhythmic and lyrical contrast to change the pace right after the Crush introduction. Some songs just blended well together in the new order -- I absolutely love the way WFY, ALTNOY, Barriers, and Running sound when played one after the other. I also love how Desperate takes the angst to an emo level, after the heartbreaking ballad of Falling. I also like how Works for Me! picks up right after the contemplative ballad TBWY. And Somebody Out There needed to be the last track, IMO, because it moves the album into new territory and is the right contrast after listening to Angels. So, hope this helps explain the method to my madness. 🙂
Marlie, revisiting Rascal’s post on the “Jive Strategy” was worthwhile, especially reading this quote: “Quietly book some small clubs in larger cities where he can experiment, play piano, have some fun, and get some write-ups in smaller pubs and blogs with some street cred, for example.”
I’m thinking the solo tour (has that been confirmed?) this year might work in this way.
HG -- when you go to the link I had above of Shontelle filming David backstage doing Crush…
http://www.kyte.tv/ch/70449-shontelle-layne/310431-archie-performs-crush
To the right is the chat stuff. The stuff highlighted is what Shontelle posted in response. You’ll have to scroll up.
Thanks, Juliebug.
SF on #508 -- Re MyLifeStory mag. Not yet. A friend who lives near B&N said that she will get it for me 2 weeks ago. I have not heard from her if she was able to procure one. Haha.. she probably stashed it for herself! Tee-hee
DID YOU KNOW?
That the DoSomething auction yielded $4,350 as the winning bid for the chance to hang out at the PSA shoot, this Monday in NYC plus four tickets to a secret concert Monday night?! (that’s not exactly a secret anymore, right? Haha)
Oh boy, 1st, his bracelet, shirt, CD & posters fetched $6K++ for Bonnie’s Basement. The winner was from Brazil.
Now this… Whoever you are a**h, way to go! Archies are CRA-ZEH.
I wonder how much would the Idol Tour Suit fetch in the event it is auctioned off? (waving to SF!!!!)
The power of TheArchuleta, whew!

Good Morning All!
joymus…Are you the winner for the above????
Well, guys, we got mentioned in Shelby Abbott’s blog yesterday. You may want to check it out.
http://shelby-abbott.blogspot.com/
Hi there SAMSFAN 🙂 I love it when more lurkers come out. The more the merrier.
HG -- glad to see you have more time to post now. I’ve missed you. I also miss RASCAL 🙁
SHONTELLE is such an Archie. Posted at her KYTE page
“lol yea i talked to him yesterday and he’s doing just fine 🙂 I’m so an ArchAngel LOL…. yea he really is amazing and a genuinely nice person so that’s why I’ll always have his back! HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS!!! Shout out to Rih Rih. Wuddup Shortman!!!!”
As to the comment of a duet with David
“ya never kno wat might happen 😉 “
Oh my heck my timing is so perfect! WHY WHY did I have to turn on the TV now?! Am deep into reconfiguring my laptop that it slipped my mind that the marathon AI S7 is being shown today (StarWorld). For obvious reasons, I wasn’t into it. Besides, I can always watch it in my computer, right? Guess which part greeted me when I clicked that channel? Announcement of the winner! Booooo…. DANG IT!
#536 -- We’re famous here at Rascals!! 🙂
I don’t claim to be an expert on marketing strategies in the music industry, but I really feel it would behoove them to keep a more steady stream of buzz going about David. There seems to be such a draught of information lately. I’m sure they have the power to “seed” the media with more press about what’s going on with his career, etc., to keep him in the public eye.
I get a kick out of the fact that he is currently #3 on the MSN X-rank. Everyone seems to be searching for anything about David. It’s kind of like “where’s Waldo??” LOL
Shontelle sounds like a sweetie, and very bright, too. She was in law school but took a break to do music.
Re: Teen/Tween Marketing:
Feb J-14 Mag page Celeb Valentine -- guess who’s holding the heart -- the “shy” valentine!
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y159/jjcoolgal89/11109_113.jpg
Are you going to take the quiz? 🙂
I do think there is continuous, planned marketing strategy and for sure a buzz about David in the tween/teen market.
Kizzi -- I agree with you on the tween/teen market. I’m concerned about consistent marketing strategies for his more mature fans. I think that may be a bit lacking.
I love that Shantelle backstage video of Crush! Made me feel like I was there backstage (to Joner>>>>>sigh…..)
I hope they market to his more mature fans, too. Someone should mention this to Jeff. He would probably know the rationale of their marketing.
I saw on Rickey’s that Cook is doing a college tour in February, so they are starting him small.
Does anyone know if anyone will be cellcasting the concert tomorrow? Does Rickey’s have any peeps who will be there?
FREO **waves and sighs back ‘atcha!**
I think the college-aged market is huge for Cook. They are wise to target it.
Freofan -- Snarky’s is reportedly cell casting tomorrow.
Joner -- I question the size of the mature market and, therefore, think the business people don’t see the return on marketing dollars invested to market to the matures.
A question I have been researching is how many teen pop singers have/had hoards of mature fans that actually created significant revenue for the teen singer? Anyone have information on this -- I haven’t found any in my research.
Hi Sandy Beaches -- How are you? I’m a bit confused about what you’re referring to? Winner?
Poor, poor Shontelle,
She has no idea that simply admitting you’re an Archie is just the first step. She’ll soon realize that once David sinks his personality and talent claws into you -- there’s no going back. As a matter if fact it is the first terminal stages of ODD -- LOL!
From one island girl to another -- Good Luck Shontelle!
See you later -- off to church!
Kizzi -- That continues to be the question of the day.
What methods do marketing companies that are associated with the music industry use to determine the fanbase of the artists that record labels are trying to promote?
Joner -- I think, as with any industry, there are insider databases and surveys that provide buyer preferences and demographics--just haven’t found it yet for teen pop.
My thought is that if there was data that he mature fans were a significant ROI, then marketing would be directed at us. It isn’t--no…ummmm…ahem..cough…cough…Gray Power.
Cook announced last year that he will be coming to Manila on the Jan27 for a concert. To-date, no news about that in our shores.
Guess what is being planned now here?
A back-to-back concert by the 2 Davids after the valentine season…Nothing definite yet, but the the organizers said that feelers had been sent to the parties of the 2 Davids.
It amuses me to consider the timing… doesn’t that run smack into Our David’s initial timetable for his own tour which if early indications are to be believed, included select destinations overseas.
Now what do you guys think of that? Interrrresting eh?
Kizzi #540 . . I took the quiz . . David is totally mine . . hahaha . . I’m only 57 . . yikes! 🙂
Kizzi/Joner 546, you may want to look up old articles on the Jackson 5. The J5 started out w/bubble gum pop (ABC, I Want U Back) but Barry Gordon began marketing them to adults too (Never Can Say Goodbye, Who’s Loving You) to expand their market base. Related articles have also mentioned that Michael Jackson was too young to sing and understand some of those songs.
As for marketing David to the mature fans, I’d love to see him perform on something like the Kennedy Ctr Honors or some type of tribute show (e.g., tribute to Paul Anka, Johnny Mathis, Dionne Warwick, Vic Damone).
ebonyangel -- Very interesting. I wonder what triggered Barry Gordon’s initiative to go after the adult market base.
Yes! to your idea of a tribute show performance honoring a veteran in the industry! That would be excellent 🙂 and I can’t think of too many contemporary artists that could pull that off effectively like David could.
In 552, meant to say Berry Gordy — NOT Barry Gordon.
Joner 553, the Osmonds triggered it. At one time, the Osmonds and the J5 had the same audience and were singing similar songs. Gordy wanted to give the J5 an edge.
mamasaun -- ROFL 🙂
ebonyangel -- Great information; I will definitely research Jackson 5 early history. One question, was the Jackson 5 label? Was it one of the precursors of Jive?
I have read a lot about Jive and I am very impressed and think they are good for David’s longevity. I was reading that a Christmas 2009 may happen for David -- that is a push to many more music listeners besides the mature market.
#555 -- meant “…what was the Jackson 5 lable?” and “….Christmas 2009 album” -- need to stop multi-tasking -- probably need to implement the Josie Method and focus on work then take a break on ND -- LOL. This switching back and forth isn’t working 🙂
556 Kizzi, the J5 started with Motown. However, Motown would not allow songs that they (J5) wrote on their albums. It’s one of reasons the J5 moved to Columbia Records. In the process, they had to give up the rights to their name. Hence, they became The Jacksons.
I don’t believe Jive evolved from Motown, but then again, I don’t really know Jive’s history.
#557 ebonyangel -- Thanks for the info. And Jive and Motown didn’t mix.
There is still variables that haven’t been identified or considered or perhaps not at critical mass yet to pinpoint David’s true or perhaps, eventual fan base. But I know with all the development and production dollars put into his current album that that has to run its course as he and his advisers receive feedback, market trends, etc. to plot their next move. Wish my crystal ball was clearer 🙂 .
I believe ALTNOY will be big in the Top 40 and other future releases from his album. I have to be patient (not my forte!)
On another topic, I am thinking out loud here that when we, the fans, stop talking about or paying attention to Cook and AI, others will follow? Too pie-in-the-sky?
Joymus…the winner for #533…It was just the way it hit me this morning and then you said good morning…I hadn’t had my coffee yet!!!
Kizzi558/HG- re-marketing to teens …no research here, just the recollections of locals 🙂 …. Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Led Zeppelin, Bruce Springsteen…I could go on and on…different times and different genres and they all started by being marketed to teens- younger and older teens. Teens and young adults are the people that are actually looking for new music so they are the ones that are more open to new artists. They don’t have a catalog of music in their heads that has satisfied them… they are beginning their search. So, teens FTW. Most “older” people are (sadly) not in search of, nor open to, new music, so why would marketing begin with them?
My bigger question is not that they are marketing to the teens (and tweens- teens momentarily) but what’s up with the marketing to 6 and 7 year olds via products like “Kid’s Bop” a remix of popular songs sung by 7 year olds by 7 year olds?
Kizzi#546 I can’t think of another pop singer who has ever had the hordes of adult fans David has at the start of their careers. Has anyone else ever transcended age the way he does? Seems like it could be a unique phenomenon. Also re your post #558, good advice for fans to stop paying attention to Cook and AI. I will try to follow it, starting with paying no attention to AI S8. lol.
Interesting discussion about Motown, considering it’s 50th anniversary is this year.
I also wonder about Jackson 5 and Osmonds as precedents to compare David to? A lot of teen idols (like Michael Jackson and Danny Osmond) started out in boy bands, perhaps the quintessential boy band being the Beatles. However, do we have enough examples of solo acts as teen idols? Maybe Elvis and Frank Sinatra? Anyone more recent? David could be charting new territory (or relatively new) here, which should spark some creative juices to get Jive to consider how to market David successfully and simultaneously to the teen/tween market and the adult market.
I agree with Ebonyangel that he should be booked for tribute honors type performances. I think a duo with a respected veteran (someone not too old but established in the industry) would work wonders for him as well.
angelica561- the artists I mentioned all transcend age (well maybe not Zeppelin so much…hey where are you Kurt1960?) as do countless others in contemporary music and all of the classics… great art transcends age…..the interesting thing is not so much so early… but in the age of technology things take on a life of their own so quickly….I ask all of you older fans- if you had not “met” David and developed a personal relationship with him via the AI machine and you were introduced to him out of the blue 2 months ago-- do you think you would you be as invested in him as you are at this point? Older fans usually need a larger body of work before they begin to notice. As David’s career progresses the marketing will shift to include all age groups just as it did for the aforementioned.
I was watching the Smithsonian channel last night. They had a piece on about the history of The Monkees. Sheesh! Do any of you remember them???
Anyway, Davy Jones was talking about their appeal to the teen/tweens and said he thought that was kind of funny because “he had underwear older than their mothers”. Hilarious!
I always loved Davy Jones, and now I understand why!
…but why am I trying to do the math on how old our David’s underwear could be???? 😉
Rascal,
We miss you.
I have declined to the depths of talking about underwear and you are the only one who can save me…
Are you alive??? 🙁
As an “older” fan LOL! -- I have to say I probably wouldn’t have found David for a while. I cruise iTunes quite a bit, looking for new music, but Top 40 isn’t really my category. Oh, I fell in love with John Mayer, and James Blunt, Ryan Adams, love Annie Lennox (she’s not Top 40, Marlie!) and listen to Los Lonely Boys and Sting, but a huge amount of my listening is Dave Koz, Bobby Caldwell, and some old favorites like Supertramp, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, and Renaissance (did anybody love them like me back in the ’70’s?) and I bought Marc Anthony after seeing him in concert on HBO.
I would have had to see David sing “live” most likely and not necessarily Crush. You Can probably would have caught my attention, and SOT. Hard to say if I’d have found him without AI.
kizzi 558 -- I’ll have a piece of that pie.
marlie7 -- I like Los Lonely Boys too! I haven’t listened to them since David tho.
happy -- If I had not heard David sing Imagine, Love Me Tender, And So It Goes, DLTSGDOM, When You Believe, Shop Around (somebody stop me!), I wouldn’t have paid any attention to a 17yr old pop singer. It would take an appearance like what ebonyangel was referring to, to get my attention. However, some of his national anthem appearances have to be raising a few eyebrows. (Don’t you love his eyebrows?)
JR -- 550 -- OMG, I had to post pronto, before I read further—I am vehemently opposed to DA doing a double bill with Cook. I so very much do not want our David associated with AI any more than has already been necessary, or remains necessary because of contracts. In fact the more I think about it, the more I think that “news” must be a spoof of some kind. Even if there is a significant crossover (which I doubt) of dual David lovers, I can’t imagine that idea being embraced by either fan base. I know their antics were fun together (Ford Day etc), but we’ve moved on in the career time line, and this idea would serve our David in no way. IMHO. I think it’s a bad idea. I sure wouldn’t sit through Cook’s wailing. (Apologies to Cook fans!)
Without question, David has benefited from AI.
I mean, seriously, how many artists come out of the gate with an established fanbase the size of David’s? That is the power (?) of this show. (Sorry…I know we were supposed to STOP talking about “this show”….I’m on the 12 step program…)
It is now up to Jive and his management team to take advantage of this opportunity! If ever there was a time and place to throw dollars in the direction of experienced people, THIS IS IT!
Joner-I know for a fact that rascal is alive. 🙂 He’s just super busy right now, but he’ll be back! I promise!
emmegirl-I LOVE LOS LONELY BOYS!! We live just north of Boston and saw them before they were “famous” at a little club called Avalon where they opened for Robert Randolph Band. After they performed, we were able to meet and chat with them and they are just delightful! I told them (as I told David) that I was going to enjoy watching their careers unfold. We have seen them every year since then (many years ago, but I can’t remember how many) as they come to the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom. It’s a great little venue (1500 or so) -- very intimate. They are still as humble today as they were way back when.
The other artist I have been watching since he was 14 is Jonny Lang. There’s another youngster who is still humble and gracious and so very talented.
Happy Sunday. ♥
Off to iTunes to look up Jonny Lang (see what you made me do!)
Speaking of Motown, that performance of “Works for Me” at one of the Jingle Balls (which one? dunno, sorry, I did the “keepvid” thing with it) just smacked of Motown to me, he is ***WORKIN’ IT!*** Especially from about 1:50 on. Love love love love LOVED that!!
Josie -- I was scanning stations in my car a few years back and I caught the tale end of “Heaven” on a station and I thought, “Wow, who is this?” I didn’t know the song or artist name, but I emailed the station, described the song and the time it was played and they told me who they thought it was. Love them. I have been listening to David so much lately, but I am now digging out my LLB cd. Thanks for the tip on Jonny Lang, I have heard of him before but now will have to check him out.
SF- btw- my question was not directed at you,…I am aware that you would be just as invested in his body of work as you are now…it only took that one very nice picture….
marlie566- interesting…I found James Blunt quite after the fact (after David reopened music for me, it had been quite a rough couple of years) on a rerun of Ellen. I heard him sing “carry you home” and was an immediate fan…. bought his 2 CD’s, googled to get history on him as an artist/person, have incorporated his music into my current playlists…. ditto Gavin Degraw (via albany jingle jam)…. but no OJBD or OGDD….. haven’t made a PERSONAL connection with them yet, not enough time…my connection to David’s art began as a very personal one for me and was cultivated over time. Week by week he came to me and gave me another present. I didn’t have to do anything but turn on the TV and watch as he generously revealed himself as best he could within the confines of the show. Then at the completion we all know how generous he has been with himself. It is harder to develop that type of relationship with other artists outside of that experience and equally as difficult for other consumers to develop a similar relationship with David sans the history. Time is needed….not much, but some…
happy #574 Ditto on no personal relationship with other artists. I do follow Dave Koz after seeing him live on Long Island a few summers ago and recently saw him in Vegas when I was there on business this past summer. But there isn’t that “Oh, my god, it’s David!” thing with anyone else, including Koz. Koz is just a good entertainer (his concerts are really fun).
I don’t think I’ve ever fallen in love with any other singer/songwriter (I love that!) in my life. I used to be very grounded -- David changed all that!
Josie -- Would love to see them in a venue like that. Glad to hear they are such nice guys. Am actually listening as we speak.
marlie7 -- no, look what you started. Thanks for mentioning them.
Josie -- Jonny Lang! Me too, well for about 10 years anyway, since a friend’s teenager was ga-ga over him, I noticed and am still so impressed with him. “Breakin’ Me” is right up there with DA with # of listens in my iTunes! (Oh, just checked… looks like DA has surpassed him now. Still….)
marlie -- “I used to be very grounded” lol
Love it! that statement says it all!
Have a great day ya’ll.
Rascal -- all work and no play makes Johnny a very dull boy.
Please come out and play with us -- just for 5 minutes!
Just want to delurk to point out an interesting blurb “Anatomy of A Hit” in Jan. 16 issue of Entertainment Weekly. It is about the path of “I’m Yours” by John Mraz from the summer of 2004 to Grammy nomination. I heard “I’m Yours” early 2006, and enjoyed listening to it right away. I was really curious why it was a hit then. Well, there is hope for SOT, Barriers, and WFM, three of my favorite tracks on David’s album.
I scanned the article and uploaded to http://picasaweb.google.com/quiteblanc/AnatomyOfAHit#5290110029240126146 You can view a larger version by clicking the magnifying glass icon on the upper right hand corner. Sorry I don’t know a better way to display the article.
Marlie -- LOL -- Jonny Lang is a phenom. He started playing blues guitar when he was 12 or 13 -- just decided to pick it up one day and formed his own band by the age of 14. He is truly incredible and probably one of my most favorite guitar players (along with Henry from Los Lonely Boys and Todd from Big Head Todd and the Monsters). It’s fun to remember how much I love other music, but I always come back to one. David. *sigh* happily ruined for LIFE.
♥
Josie -- Jonny Lang just sold another album on iTunes 🙂
highervibe -- I’m sure all of my David songs have surpassed every one of the 6,819 songs in my iTunes! One of my all time favorites from Jonny is Wander This World. He’s quite a songwriter!
Yea! Marlie -- which one???
Josie -- Turn Around -- I see its a bit of a stylistic departure from previous ones, so I’ll probably have to save up and get the rest (grin)
Okay, so now you made me have to look at my most-played iTunes songs of the top 22, 19 are David Archuleta )#1 is Imagine, #2 is SOT), 1 Sarah McLoughlin (Angles), 1 Elliot Yamin (Free) and get this, 1 David Arkenstone (huh? -- he’s often my background music when I’m writing, The Dream of the Gods -- hey, did he title that for Our David?)
They are all really good -- but they are all quite different based on his age at the time he recorded. My two faves are Lie To Me and Wander This World, the albums. Take a listen to the clips and enjoy thoroughly!
Marlie -- btw- love your avi -- it makes me smile!
Rascal -- all work and no play makes Johnny a very dull boy.
Please come out and play with us -- just for 5 minutes!
Now, Marlie, let Rascal work (and play) at his own pace. 😉
He’ll join us when he’s ready and when he wants. Just knowing from Josie that he’s alive and well is enough for me.
As someone who keeps her own blog, I can tell you all, as a fellow blogger once told me: Blogging Ain’t Easy!
It’s enough pressure to put your private thoughts out there in such a public forum. To add to that pressure the expectation that you will post frequently is a whole other layer of anxiety.
Let’s be glad that enough of us devoted ND’ers are keeping the house warm and preoccupied while the owner is away.
FREO and I have talked about this many times. It takes tons of energy and interaction to keep a blog current.
I think that David’s fan communities here at Noting David, and at FOD, Snarky Archies, and all the rest are doing a bang up job and I commend all of them for their efforts in providing fans of David Archuleta’s a place to go and share their love of an extremely talented artist.
Kudos ♥♥♥
Someone posted this over at FOD -- interesting IF it’s true:
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Who_will_sing_the_national_anthem_at_2009_super_bowl&alreadyAsked=1
One can only hope…
HG, Joner, AMEN! Ok…I decided today (don’t know why?), to take a listen to David Cook. I listened to Bar-ba-sol, Permanent, and dang-it, one other, but don’t remember. That is exactly how these songs hit me…I won’t remember any of them, and seriously I TRIED real hard to be objective and listen with an open ear! My husband is sitting on the couch and asked me “who is that? I told him who it was. He doesn’t understand the hoopla. I know I am not objective as ODD is rampant in my life. Possibly computer speakers aren’t the best way to listen and judge. IDK…I gave them a try…
Getting restless on something happening here…haven’t seen or heard David for a very long time!!!
I just wrote to the contact people for the Super Bowl 2009 nd asked who will be singing the national anthem..
I will let you know if and when they answer me…Surely someone knows by now…anyway David must be out there being very busy at something…
David would do a bang-up job if he sings the anthem at the Super Bowl! I really hope he is asked and does so. And what excellent exposure for him. I saw that wiki page; wonder where they got the info.
I would not be surprised if we will hear from David tomorrow. He has been posting about once a week on days that he has other engagements. I wonder if he flew to NYC today or yesterday. Maybe he caught a Broadway show. No sightings reported yet, though.
Marlie -- let me know how you like that Jonny Lang album 🙂
Freo-I’ve been hoping David would sing the anthem since he sang at the Utah Jazz game back in May. Not sure if protocol is that the AI winner sings it or what? I know Jordon’s connection is that her Dad was in the Air Force (or some armed forces) and she did a beautiful job. I replayed that many times.
I just want David to sing the National Anthem at every event from now on. Is that too much to ask?? I think not. ♥
Good afternoon! Just checking in! Ahhh! The sound of glee if David sings at the superbowl in Tpa!
That would make the third visit to my little corner of the world: AI tour, Rays playoffs in St. Pete, and now Superbowl.
Wonder if he needs a place to stay- My dads nice house sits empty most of the time.
rae -- LOL -- we David fans are very giving aren’t we?? :)!
And my dad’s house only 10 minutes from stadium…vacant look into space…..
( I can dream right?) I live across the bay and I got something in the mail asking if I wanted to rent my houe out for something like $1000 a day! If my family & animals would not be homeless- it is tempting. Guess
all the people that converge for SB- there is not enough hotel rooms, even with this being a tourist area.
Here’s a review of Season 7 (David gets positive mention):
