Best Video Blog
David’s love and appreciation for his fans shine through in his frequent and spontaneous video blogs. Which one wins the honor of being the Best Video Blog of 2009?
May 16th: “Manila Show and International Fans”
June 9th:“Fan Pack @ iTunes!” (Mirror mirror on the wall)
Aug. 18th: “My voice is back!”
Sept. 29th: “Bye bye wisdom teeth”
Oct. 7th: “Puffy Cheeks-B-Gone”
David is love. That’s all that needs to be said about David’s heartfelt thanks to his Manila fans after performing with David Cook to a huge crowd. “I can’t say salamat enough.” Once is enough, David.
David’s awesome randomness is not limited to his tweets. While announcing a charity performance in D.C. and the release of “Zero Gravity” and “A Thousand Miles” on iTunes, David can’t help but comment on the fact that the mirror behind his head reminds him of a certain Disney mirror with that “face guy in it.” “That was weird,” he says. No, David—that was EPIC!!
“Lame, long, boring, makes no sense.” These were the YouTube keywords that David used for this video blog in which he covers widely disparate subjects such as getting his voice back, touring with his friend Ashlee, and suddenly recognizing a song in the background. David confesses that there was no point to this vlog—which only makes it more awesome.
Most people, when going through a nerve-wracking experience such as surgery, try not to talk about it in order to block out the fear. But for David it is another milestone that he absolutely must share with his fans. This is the vlog in which David “CRAAAVES” orange juice, as well as other juicy moments.
Where was David? No concerts, no public appearances—it was a veritable Archudrought during which fans only received the occasional tweet reporting on his chipmunk cheeks or on the weather outside. However, once his cheeks were back to normal, not even an “issued computer” could stop David from updating his fans. This is the infamous vlog that included PX90, the piano incident, and the introduction of tour buddy Benton Paul.
Hawtest David Picture
Well, what can we say about David and the camera. He is one of the most photogenic singers around and it sure does show by the sheer number of pictures of David in concert, at VIP’s, at award ceremonies. But you’ve picked some “hawt” ones to vote on so here they are:
The Christmas Outtake:
Kansas Abandon Pose:
Rio Tinto:
At the Wachovia:
David’s Intensity:
Cutest David Picture
Not only can David be breathtakingly “hawt”—he can also be amazingly cute sometimes. Youthful, silly, chipmunk-ish, the cutest David pictures you have nominated are here:
Posing with Sara Bareilles:
With Totoro:
David’s chipmunk cheek, dimpled, cat-that-ate-the-canary, sweetheart grin:
Cute doesn’t have to mean Funny:
Most Archudorkable Moment
David would be the first to describe himself as “weird” and a “dork,” but for his fans this quality is perhaps what most cements their loyalty. Which moment of 2009 was David’s most Archudorkable?
January 5th: “It IS??” (at 1:33)
Feb. 4th: Hearing himself sing “I’m Yours”
May 28th: Clapping his hands
Oct. 6th: “Awkward I guess” (w/ Rick Springfield)
Oct. 26th: What do I sing? (Utah conference)
While gearing up to sing the National Anthem for the inauguration of Utah’s governor, David was awarded the title “Utahn of the Year” by a local TV station. On the air and live, when the newscasters told him that it might snow during the governor’s ceremony, David apparently needed to be told twice. Comedy gold!
David never wanted to sing in the first place… a local radio station convinced David to partake in a game in which he sang along to a song without hearing himself. Ever the perfectionist, David was scared about how we would do. But that was nowhere near as terrifying as hearing himself being played back to him. Blah-de-blah-de-blah!
David is still getting used to the concept that people want to hear what he has to say, but hmm… simply to watch him? That’s what he’s trying to process at 0:30 in this hilarious interaction with a TV interviewer. However, when he is assured at 2:10 that he is not on TV any longer, his nervousness goes away and we get a rare glimpse of David feeling like the cameras are not on him. La la laaaa!!
It’s no secret among David’s fans that his mother is lovely and, well, “hawt.” But for David to hear that about his own mother is another story. Let alone from a rock star who points this out to him while they’re in front of the TV cameras.
After dropping several pearls of Archuwisdom, David is asked to cap it off with a song. What should he sing? A simple question, but David approaches it with the indecision of a Hamlet. Already hilarious—but David’s recognition of his own shortcomings is at once charming, funny, and wise.
Best TV Appearance
There were only three entries in this category, and not because there were only three TV appearances. In truth, most of us want to forget the return engagement on American Idol, and iCarly was (thankfully) not mentioned, either. I’m sure there were others, but these three appearances are surely his best. Now you decide which one is #1.
Singing America the Beautiful at the US Open
Singing “Contigo en la Distancia” at the 2009 ALMA Awards
Acting and singing on Hannah Montana!
Not only did David get to perform a much-loved patriotic hymn before a huge television audience, he got to infuse it with his own brand of soul. Add to that the display of the nation’s colors, and what you have is an unforgettable bravura television performance.
How many times did YOU watch David sing “Contigo en la Distancia”? Good thing we’re in the digital age, or else our VCR’s would have been worn out long ago through endless repetition. David brings us heaven and then humbly steps off the stage. (Play that again, please?)
“It was the onion bagel, wasn’t it?” David’s charm shines through in his stint on Hannah Montana, in which he sings a duet with the Disney star before she ditches him (gasp!) and dates a boy whom she’d done wrong. David is understanding, however, and fans are happy that this left David for the rest of us (and we got a new David song to boot!).
Best Live Performance – Rockin the House
David can sure as heck Rock the House, and various Zero Gravity performances were among the nominations. Barriers and Works For Me were also fan favorites, and along the way we fell in love with his rockin’ guest performance with an old rock group and a swinging holiday tune.
Zero Gravity in Columbus, OH, March 6, 2009 -
Zero Gravity, Chicago House of Blues, March 8, 2009 -
Works for Me, Reno, NV, March 18, 2009 -
David’s appearance with REO Speedwagon, May 30, 2009 -
Barriers, Sacramento, July 16, 2009 -
Zero Gravity, Sunrise, FL, Aug 1, 2009 -
Feliz Navidad, Kansas City, MO, Dec 8, 2009 -
David shows off his dance moves in another full-tilt rendition of this fan-favorite song. His co-writer, Mike Krompass, is there on stage with him, helping to pump up the energy!
The relative intimacy of the House of Blues made for an especially intense and jumpin’ version of this high-energy favorite. The video is shaky because the whole floor was moving from all the jumping!
How could anyone forget the opening of this crowd-pleasing song? For this performance ONLY, David added some improv’d phrases that just thrilled the crowd (and became merry-go-rounds for the rest of us!)
A surprise appearance on stage electrified the REO crowd. David more than held his own in a rockin’, soulful, “sing-off” competition!
This song is a combination of dorky hand gestures and foot-stomping sassy attitude. “Just gotta…stoooop!” How can you not love the head pullaways on “too many…”
Last summer on the Demi/David arena tour, David rocked the house with this intense version.
Here’s an old chestnut that might have made you cringe in the hands of any other singer. But David infuses it with his Latin soul and makes it a crowd favorite. Anything that David sings in Spanish is an instant hit!
Best Live Performance – Heart Connection
David stole our hearts long ago, and he continues to fill us with love, give us chills, and make us cry, dang it! There were so many performances that strengthened that heart connection, and now we have the difficult decision of deciding which was the best of the year.
I’ll Be, August 6, Rockford, IL
Desperate, August 6, Rockford, IL
Contigo en la Distancia, September 18, ALMA awards
Fields of Gold, November 24, Salt Lake City
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, November 24, Salt Lake City
This beautiful love song showcases tenderness and vulnerability.
Even though this song was on his debut album, this date marks the first live performance of this deeply emotive song.
This is the performance that created a huge buzz across the blogsophere. David sang in Spanish on a prime time awards show for the first time.
This was the first time we heard David sing this song – originally sung by Sting, but David sings the rendition of one of his favorites: Eva Cassidy.
A surprise appearance from lovely mother Lupe shocked and delighted the Salt Lake crowd. Although her singing is not perfect technically, Lupe shows off her lovely voice and stage presence and there is a long, heart-felt hug between mother and son at the conclusion.
Top David Moment of the Year
2009 was arguably even more awesome than 2008. But out of all this awesomeage, which moment stands out as David’s brightest, most significant, or memorable for the year? Vote for the Top David Moment of 2009!
Singing HYAMLC with Mama Lupe in SLC -
Singing “Contigo en la Distancia” at the ALMA awards -
Winning 3 Teen Choice Awards.
Manila Concert -
50-minute talk at the Women’s Conference in Utah -
Love runs deep between David and Mamachuleta. Lupe, while singing a gorgeous Christmas duet with her son, is overcome with pride and moved to tears. David and Lupe share a tender moment. Pass the Kleenex!
No one watching David on this night could ever have guessed that this was his first time singing Spanish before a large television audience. David brought a breathtaking beauty to this performance, paid loving tribute to his Latin roots, and made an indelible impression upon the Latino entertainment industry.
David’s amazing talent at so young an age was bound to be acknowledged by the country’s premier teen awards show, placing him next to some of the nation’s biggest stars.
David got to perform before his biggest audience ever of about 40,000. It capped a wonderful visit to a nation that adores him. On top of that he got to reunite with AI buddy David Cook. He was so moved that he posted an video blog thanking his fans.
Admitting that he just recently never would have imagined himself delivering a speech, here he was, conquering his fear, and succeeding admirably. He shared some insights with charm, humor, wit, and a wisdom beyond his years.
Best Pearl of Archuwisdom
David has his random side as well as his philosopher side. Even though he’s still in his teens, he’s had his share of obstacles and challenges. In interviews and in conversations with fans he occasionally shares some nuggets of ArchuWisdom, some light-hearted, some serious.
- From a Deseret News article: “You just take whatever (life) throws at you, and you just learn how to deal with it, even when you don’t think you can,” he said. “It’s about pushing yourself and pushing past what you think are your limits.”
- From a VIP: “There’s never any reason to lower your standards.”
- From MSN Entertainment during the Philippines tour: “It’s weird because if I wear something in public again, people will go, ‘You wore that three months ago!’ or ‘You wore that two weeks ago!’ So that’s the price of fame – you have to keep buying clothes.”
- From the Utah Women’s Conference: “Sometimes even if it is a hard path to take, even if it has those big hills and climbs and all those scary trees and you can get scratches, and you can get hurt sometimes. But I think that’s what makes us grow. That’s what makes us learn in our lives.”
- Again from the Utah Women’s Conference: ”Face your fears”…”as we face those fears more and get over that first hurdle we can make those weaknesses become our strengths.”
Funniest Archuquote (non-Tweet)
Speaking with a friend today (who also loves David), I mentioned that he was hilarious, almost at times, ridiculous. And he is, in a fun and adorable way. Why else would he have almost 300,000 people following him on Twitter, and thousands of views of some of his interviews on Youtube?
- I have my faults: “I certainly don’t see myself as perfect,” he says. “I have my faults. There are plenty of them. I take longer to do things than most people. I forget things a lot. I’m clumsy. I spill my lunch.“
- About being with family at Xmas: “I don’t remember what I got, but I remember what we did.”
- From his twitter bio: “I’m David. I like music.”
- Utah speech (0:42-0:55, Part 3): “I tend to ramble… the scary thing is it’s not just rambling, it’s rambling and it’s like what is this kid talking about.”
- Cinnamon Mazeltov: – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42w6jJf0zFY
Tweet of the Year
Okay, this is going to be a hard one. There have been 1700 tweets and counting since David first opened his twitter account last April. We fans were privy to his thoughts about food, his nervousness before shows and his endearing randomness. Which tweet will make the cut for Tweet of the Year?
- From June 15th, the noisy cats:
- From July 14th, an annoying and recurring malady:
- From December 2nd, dang that battery!
- From December 5th, a food that makes David happy (food seems to be a common tweet topic):
- From December 29th, David shared a small tragedy, complete with picture:
Oh my heck, there are cats outside fighting and they’re really loud! Hush cats! People are trying to sleep! You shouldn’t fight anyway.
“My left eye is red again. That little stinker.”
I wish my camera battery wasn’t dead and that my charger wasn’t lost, because I’d take a picture of this GIGANTIC grape! It’s huge!!
Oh man! Hello giant bowl of guacamole. I think I love you.
“Nooo! My brother’s dog ripped totoro’s eyes out!” … “http://twitpic.com/vrlmb – R.I.P. Totoro”
Best Christmas Song
David’s Christmas album wowed his fans, but which song wins the Archie?
- Ave Maria – David brings tremendous reverence to “Ave Maria,” which includes the Latin version of the prayer “Hail Mary.” Foregoing the more popular melody of composed by Schubert, David takes on one of the most revered (and challenging) Christmas hymns with Gounod’s “Ave Maria.”
- Joy to the World – David starts off his Christmas album with a rousing, bringing-down-the-house version of Joy to the World that makes all other versions sound staid and tame in comparison.
- O Holy Night – David brings a surprising restraint and subtlety to a song that is usually powered through. Upon listening, it is not surprise that this is one of David’s favorite Christmas songs.
- Pat a Pan – David chooses a relatively-unknown song to apply his own personal stamp, bringing a modern production that melds rhythm with a dramatic string arrangement.
- Silent Night – David sounds like he is singing to Baby Jesus in the manger, maintaining the same intimacy and tenderness from the quiet beginning of the song to the spine-tingling ending.
Song of the Year
Which song, of those that David released in the U.S. beginning in 2009, was the best/your favorite? This was a somewhat unusual year, with only 2 singles, and all the album tracks already covered in the Christmas song category, so this year we are limiting it to those songs that were released as singles or distributed to radio:
- A Thousand Miles –David’s minimalist take on A Thousand Miles allowed him to bring an aching intimacy to this recording, and allowed for David’s soulful voice to shine.
- Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas – Beautiful and restrained, David’s and Charice’s voices melded together like buttah, in a charming duet that echoed back to Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Who could ask for anything more?
- Joy to the World – David made a fresh and original take on the Christmas classic, and in the middle song he really brang it and brought this song into the stratosphere. Did he launch it high enough to win Song of the Year?
- Melodies of Christmas – This inventive song cowritten by David incorporated several Christmas songs and brought out what Christmas means to David. A fitting way to end the album, wrapping this wonderful Christmas collection in a pretty little bow.
- Zero Gravity –This song brought a surge of energy to David’s first solo tour and got David’s fans clamoring for a release. Released along with “A Thousand Miles” and an iTunes “Fan Pack,” ZG (co-written by David) was an exhilarating venture into otherwise uncharted territory.

Happy New Year, TDC! I already cast my vote!
Peace and blessings for 2010!
That was fun going to some of the links and watching some favorite versions of Zero Gravity, Barriers and others. With all the Christmas videos we’ve been watching, I forgot about Barriers and how much I love that song.
And I think I’ll go get stuck in Contigo for a while
Happy New Year, everyone!
Great!!! I was going to start putting away Christmas decorations then I stopped by TDC. Clearly this was an error in judgement as I cannot pull myself away from all the great videos and stuff you’ve posted!
I wonder if I just threw a big bag over the Christmas tree and left it up until next year if anybody would notice?
Thanks for the opportunity to traipse thru my memories. It’s all good! What a year. Cannot wait to see what’s coming next. Happy New Year 2010 to David and to all of you.
I’m having trouble picking the winner on some of these categories. I’ll have to go reflect on the long-term implications of my vote. BRB. Haha!
Happy New Year, TDC!
FSteven: I think you definitely get the Award for most beautiful banner/logo/artwork for 2009. That graphic is gorgeous! Thank you again for making that for us.
Joner: I was going to put away my Christmas things today, too, and start the New Year off in “productivity mode”. Bwahahahahahah
Oh Marlie…but first..Happy New Year!!
You have done a beautiful piece of work here! I had my day all planned until now, so it has to be re-arranged somehow to allow time to spend down a great memory lane…then I will vote…
I think that Contigo will get a lot of attention!
Yes, the banner is #1…
SB
FSteven, thank you thank you again for the beautiful artwork!
I love looking at this listing because you get to see at a glance the multifaceted Wonder of the World that is David: quirky, witty, sexy, sweet, hilariously honest… not to mention he can rip your heart out of your chest with the power of his voice.
Oh what a year it’s been to be a David fan! And 2010 will only get better! Are we ready??
This is a great list! Thanks TDC for doing this. Just reading all the “nominees” was a great experience.
I’ll put the thoughtful deliberations on these choices on my list of things to do. I have to agree with SandyBeaches…Contigo was a highlight and a defining moment for me in 2009. Every single thing about it.
Thanks!
SandyBeaches: We all worked on it, but Ronald gets the credit for the lovely layout/format of the piece. He has secret HTML skills none of us even knew about, that we will now take full advantage of
And Happy New Year to you, SB
In case some of you didn’t notice, you can click on the pictures accompanying some of the entries and they will take you to the youtube of that event.

Oh this is just too much fun.
Just skimming through these infuses me with mega archu_mirth. It’ll keep me busy for days. lol I cannot pick faves where David’s concerned, but sure is fun going through these.
Ronald, where can I find your archu_poetry? Do you have links handy?
FSteven, I LUURRRRVE the artwork!
Happy New Year, y’all.
Happy New Year!
Thank you TDC, for this great post and for all the hard work that went into it!
That said, you guys make it so difficult to vote! How does one pick a favorite among favorites? But I’ll give it the old college try.
Okay, I’m ready to vote.
Closing the curtains…
Bebe: Don’t get lost in there while voting -- I had to pull myself out of the videos -- Contigo, ZG, HYAMLC, and vlogs. Sheesh, David can just suck up so much time -- and I was planning to be so productive today. I guess happy beats productive, anyway.
Great poll! Had much fun going back in time to the many memories David has given to us in his short career. Thank you guys!

I Hate You, David Archuleta
http://www.thedavidchronicles.com/2009/06/i-hate-you-david-archuleta/
Beebee and Bebe (are you guys related!), yes some of these categories are tough ones. All the Archudorkable moments, for example, are equally Archudorkable to me. And for one of the categories I voted against David’s sweet moment with Lupe! I feel like I’ve done something wrong, that I need to stab my eyes out for my betrayal LOL.
This is a wonderful poll — kudos for a job so well done. What fun to go back and look at all the special David performances and moments. Certainly not easy to make award choices but I soldiered on and managed. Anxious now to see the final results of the voting.
Wonder what memorable David things will happen in 2010 for the 3rd annual nominations. Can’t wait!
Thanks so much TDC for the all the hard work. Great job organizing the “ballot”
Now to decide. Yeah, this is going to be hard. David makes some brave and bold decisions whether it’s a performance or his steadfast resolve to remain true the “pre-idol” David. I thought using this criterion would help narrow the choices. But there are several examples of his courage in each category. Oh well, off to vote.
Thank you so much for this wonderful article!! SO much fun to go back and watch all those videos. I really laughed at your comment Joner because that is EXACTLY what happened to me!! Was also just about to put away Christmas ornaments and got seriously side-tracked!!! Oh well, no more excuses!
ronaldsf #17 -- Hey -- no violence allowed here please. We don’t want you to go the way of poor Totoro lol!
Wow, you guys have really outdone yourselves. What a great New Year Celebration: To Celebrate the “old year”!
What fun it is to go back and re-live those moments.
Thanks for putting this all together for everyone.
It may just take me till next Friday to get through it all.
Kudos to TDC! You did an outstanding job organizing all of this information, tracking down links, etc.
I was just reading thru David’s print blogs and boy did he have a fantastic year. I had forgotten how excited he was to rec’v the plaque for his gold album. I also got a good laugh at the blog where he got locked out of the house in his pajamas while trying to mail a letter during the late night.
Happy New Year everyone and may David’s career continue to flourish as he wishes!
Thank you for the links, ronald! And… of course if you count O.D.D. bebe & I are moz def related… but then… aren’t we all… (:
desertrat: Wow, those are two events no one mentioned (and we didn’t think of!) There’s a lot to celebrate and laugh about with David in 2009!
My Votes are in!
And it was not easy! But so much fun! There were so many great moments this past year for David & for us!
Thanks to those who put so much time into this -- it was so much fun to go back over all these special times, but it was not always easy to make a decision!
joner #3 -- I was making a lot of progress putting decorations away -- until I also took a “quick” break. I like your idea of putting a bag over the tree -- since we will probably still be playing CFTH all year anyway I doubt anyone will notice -- ha ha!
SF -- I LOVE that picture of you with David!
I don’t even know how many hours I’ve spent looking at everything on this page prior to voting. I just got lost in all of these memories. haha. I had such a hard time choosing between so many amazing moments.
Thank you for this awesome opportunity to go back and reminisce on the best of all the great, funny, heartfelt, beautiful, hot, and fantastic moments David had in 2009.
Happy New Year TDC! Thank you for this amazing poll on the first day of the new year! I am going to take my sweet time, prolonging the fun all the way until next Friday LOL!
Ronald: Bravo for completing this whole award article with linked pictures. You, my friend, are amazing, and once again, you’ve been keeping your skills from us. I’m going to think up all kinds of things to ask you to do now (she says, rubbing her hands together)
This is a most awesomeage list! Great job everyone. I swear I said, “Ooooo!” (rhymes with Woooo!) to each one. And got chills. What a year. Thank you all!
Thought maybe you “might” be interested in this video uploaded by the Brazilian fansite!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xfkkVITIas&feature=player_embedded
I’m so glad everyone’s loving the collection! Even though I worked a while on this, I love looking over this list again and again to think about what a great year this has been! (Or was! -- I’m still not used to talking about 2009 in the past tense lol)
Liz #21, now that you say so, I don’t want to follow the fate of poor Totoro! That is a Twitpic I would NOT want to share!
Marlie, now that my HTML skills are out of the bag, I’m starting to have second thoughts about working on this article LOL! (Hmm, unless there’s a certain David site that needs some HTML work and is willing to pay for it, hmm…)
Kipper, thank you for the vid post! Was this autograph signing recent? I have no idea what David is doing these days tbh. It’s been a whirlwind month for David!
Kill me now -- I can’t make up my mind!
Which just means you guys did a great job narrowing the field. Kudos admins
Since we have until the 8th (and we in Manila get an extra day haha!) I will take a breather 1st. Otherwise, cooking lunch will be history.
Happy New Year everyone!
Ronald: Pay for it…bwahahahahha.
FSteven -- beautiful banner, awesome way to start!
Great job guys! What an impossible task…and to think this is just a fraction of all the incredible moments he gave us this year! I have actually forgotten as many moments as I have remembered!
Boy, for someone who is always so happy about being productive he is solely responsible for many happy hours of
non-productivity!
Ronald (#33) ~ You’re welcome! This is the Meet & Greet at the Fan Fiesta in El Paso ~ I believe it’s captioned right above the video when you click on the link (if I remember correctly).
And thank YOU for this great article and all the wonderful David “favorites!” Well done!
Hi Ronald, LIZ, and Marlie,
Thank you so much for putting the list together. I made a mistake by checking out TDC first thing in the morning! I don’t have a Christmas tree to take down, but I do have a report due next Monday. I spent hours checking out all the YouTube, going over the list, and laughing hysterically all by myself. Then I started rounds of “eeny, meeny, miny, moe….”. Finally I clicked “submit”, but I don’t think I remember how I voted. Not sure how you guys put the list together, but it is a great one! So much fun….
Happy New Year!
Hi everyone!
Happy New Year -- 2010 to all TDCers!
I was out of the country since before Christmas and have just gotten back. Voting for the Archie Awards is an almost impossible task as all of David’s moments are out-of this-world memorable. Just like the songs on his cd’s its hard to choose a clear favorite. With so many great archu-moments, three performances that stand out for me are “Contigo”,”Desperate”, and “Angels” for the first time on the UK tour .
Check out this one from 0:37 to 2:15
bianca #31 -- Hi! Is your charming avatar a self-portrait lol?
It was a dark and stormy night in the PacNW! But I’m home and that’s always such a delightful thing. Buuuut… I was feeling a tad melancholy under these dark skies, and thought, “what can I do to cheer myself up? I know… I’ll visit TDC.” I was none too hopeful, mind you… I mean, the “tore” is over… Christmas is over… we’re in that lull that you know is going to go on waaaaay too long.
And spronnnnnnnng! That cookie that SF was choking on nearly hit me in the eye!! hahahahaha Oh yeah, that is one resolute territorial stance, all right-y!!!!!!!
There is so much here to catch up on, what the heck?!! I’ve been at it a while and don’t even know where to begin with responses to comments, so for now… HAPPY NEW YEAR (it’s still New Year’s day here, anyway) and thanks all of you amazing awesome fans for bringing so much to the Archuparty! Wheeeeeee… [insert confetti video that I have no clue how to make, here.] The vids! The stats! The laughs!
Gawwwd it’s good to be alive when you live in David’s universe!!! Now, off to visit all the nominations.
And who put the gorgeous article banner at the top of this page together, hmmm? WOW! Nice work!
PS -- Oh! I see now… nice work, FSteven!!!
Done voting! That wasn’t an easy task…so many wonderful moments and visuals to choose from. Great compilation of all things David!
If you have a chance, please come by and check out Dawn’s article on The Voice.

Ronald -- holy cow! Thanks for making that list… I’m going to go check it twice…. umm, probably more! This is going to be soooo fun, I’ve already seen things that I’d missed before. GREAT job!!!!
This remix just in… (well, I hadn’t seen it)…

It’s so funny--when Ray first starts singing, David starts fiddling with his feedback earplug like he thinks there’s something wrong with it (:43)! bwwwwahahaha
And I agree with everything she says in the notes, especially “Watching this performance is guaranteed to make everything ALLL BETTER!”
PS -- hadn’t seen the remix… I had seen the source vids. Can never watch that performance too many times! OK, done spamming now. G’nite [she said to herself, since everyone else is dreaming of sugarplums already.]
Well, I’ve made my decisions on the first 3 categories, now I have until -- when?- FRIDAY! yikes! But, you have to watch the videos more than once to make sure you’ve chosen the right one. Decisions like this, you cannot take lightly. And Ronald, you voted against Lupe?

Thanks for doing this, I’m having alot of fun.
quiteblanc #40- That video was funny. It was great seeing those football fans having fun to David’s music. What I’d like to know though, is how they knew they were suppose to jump during Zero Gravity? hmmm…
Pictures and/or descriptions have been added to the “Top David Moments” and “Rockin the House” categories. Check em out!
One performance I wish had gone up there under Heart Connection: “Somebody Out There” from SLC (solo tour). Dangit!
Anywayz, since we’re still walking down memory lane…
Ronald.
If you had a category of each song’s best performance -- SOT (SLC)would definitely be it. This performance came at the end of David’s first solo tour and so was very special for him as well as he performed in front of his family and friends. everything he was feeling came through loud and clear.
Highervibe -- I also laughed at that particular moment in the goofy HYAMLC. David was probably thinking -- WTH? -- am I hearing myself right? LOL!
FSTeven -- cooooool art work!
Re the Q42009 DAVID BLITZKRIEG — am still at it, LOL! What can I say? Am oc-oc (still chuckling). But you may be glad to know that I have updated the playlist with the vids from SunBowl cr to mylan2424, rchavira7 & a new vid from nannytaq on Fan Fiesta’s M&G. These uploads complete David’s promo appearances during the last quarter of 2009 — a wonderful (hanep as we say in Pinoy lingo) gift to his fans worldwide
For those who would like to download the vids of the BLITZKRIEG playlist plus more goodies, just visit my mediafire account. The folder also includes some gorgeous pix for the period covered PLUS selected HD vids from other archies not covered by the playlist (yes a couple of thorp’s HD vids are there!) . Here ya go!

Advance HAPPY THREE KINGS!
[goes back to reviewing the nominations]
{{{ highervibe }}} Yeah, I love how he says, “tore.” I don’t know anyone else who says it like that.
And I think I’ve watched the Ray/David duet a dozen times! Ray knew every note and every nuance lol!
Thanks to everyone who allocated so much of their holiday time to putting this amazing retrospective together. For those of us who have not had a chance this season to attend to the entertainments of Archuworld as much as we might like, this compilation is especially welcome.
Happy New Year!
Rascal: So….did you vote?
Great job with the nominations, and artwork fsteven! Oh my, I will have to ponder these also. Walking through memory lane from this past year, reaffirms what an epic year this was for David…. Yep even the part imvolving a certain Ms Hannah. Nice to see you Joymus
According to Marlie, I might be charged with “Murder in the First” but I think Ronald will defend me!
Here is a new MGR I made by request of SB:

Marlie…Recommendation for vid. #58…Be home alone, as it could be just too loud shall we say. Then turn up full volume, watch a snowstorm like I am…actually a blizzard. Love it, but litle girls voices magically go away! I can get used to them though…

I voted, but it was by no means easy. SO MUCH FUN!
dorkyduckies’ CRUSH at the SUNBOWL
yay! Sunbowl set is now complete.
ronald -- #50 SOT: I LOVE that song. Heartfelt, soulful, accompaniment is subdued and allows the voice to soar.
I voted, but I feel that any given day I could vote differently.
This was a blast to go through.
Here is another moment -- another SOT. His beautiful voice had just come back in full after all of those heartbreaking days voice issues.
Hi all,
Just wanted to add my thanks for a great, fun beginning to 2010. As Rascal mentioned, these videos mean a lot to those of us that have not had the chance YET to see and hear David live, as well as to all you “lucks” that have.
Happy New Year to all. It will be fun because we all know we “Won’t Stop Believing!” in 2010 or anytime soon.
You knew this was coming, Right??
Abrra
Hi all,
A little late to the party, but mucho thanks to the Admins for the awesome compilation of 2009 Archumemories. Voting was a challenge, but it was fun to revisit so many highlights of the year. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2010, especially with the new album. Hope we don’t have to wallow in Archuwithdrawal for too long…we have become so spoiled in our access to all things David
Just read that Jason Castro got married over the weekend in Dallas, so I’m guessing that David was amongst the guests since he tweeted that he was spending some time in that town. Those two seem to be pretty close buds.
In case you haven’t seen this performance which was recently posted on Snarkys, it’s a great black and white THIS CLOSE video of David singing “The Riddle” in Cleveland. His vocals are stellar, he’s looking particularly hawt and he’s off in that otherworldly state for much of the performance. Towards the end, when he reenters the present and flashes that megawatt smile, I felt like I was enveloped by a deliciously warm and brilliant embrace of sunshine… just what the doctor ordered on what is an unbearably cold, gray and windy day in my neck of the woods.

Thanks again, TDC Admins, for your dedication and stellar efforts over the past year in providing us with a forum that continues to nourish and satisfy our ODD. And to all the posters, contributors and lurkers here, and especially to David, wishing you all you wish for yourselves in the NEW YEAR!
Oops, don’t think my video posting of “The Riddle” will work.
Try this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuacXvg3RcM
Why THANK YOU, my dear Abrra!
Sheez, David is so full of win trying to narrow the choice of the cutiest, hawtest, bestest, mostest… in each of the 13 catagories was like an excersize in futility. I kept wishing there was an “All of the above” tab.
All the work that went into this, from the artwork to compiling data to the wonderful format, is evidence of your love for David and his fans.
Thanks you guys. That was funn!(tm David):)I hope everyone have a happy and blessed year.
Same here GBW… I voted but several of the categories like archudorkeable, and best tweet were pretty much TOTAL toss ups.
Abrra!!!!!!!!!! #76!!!!
Whew!
Abrra: as Zoe said, “WHEW!” Gosh the view on that video is quite amazing
Zoe: Thanks for the post of that B&W The Riddle. You are right, just sunshine.
A video of The National Anthem with excellent sound quality.
Zero Gravity -- sort of from David’s eye view.
From heavyheartedx3:
And this is hilarious from 7pmm
I might be done done spamming (or maybe not, depending on what I find on youtube).
Happy New Year Marlie!
Maybe I can help a little…
A category that I realize should have been included…
Best Concert Outfit!
We know how many strong opinions there are out there on this one lol! Please folks, remind us not to forget this next year.
And if anyone wants to email us links to any awesome 2009 outfits, then maybe we can include an Honorable Mention or two
Another one I was thinking of was Best Haircut. But then we’d be comparing so many similar pictures to each other and… splitting hairs! *snort snort* Sorry, I just had to do that one.
Probably the best set of SunBowl Half-time performance yet in terms of audio & vid quality thanks to TheJiMan09:

Boy, keeping tabs of David may turn out to be a full 25% of my life! Not that am complainin’
LOL
My apologies… I see that the vids have been posted already. LOL, the sunbowl vids are turning out to be like the holy grail. I won’t be surprised if there will be more vids popping out soon (still chuckling).
angelofda and JR: Thanks for the great videos. I’m hoping we get one good video of David singing Don’t Stop Believing from the front and without the speakers getting in the way
MARLIE -- you know how much I have been obsessing about getting a clean footage of DSB? I even dreamt of Steve Perry (but with the face & body of Rick Springfield) courting Lupe -- wt?! Go figure LOL

Hi, just reminding everyone to PLEASE go and vote for David for “Best American Idol Ever” on twitter. He is being swamped by Adam, David C., and now Allison. Where are all those fanatic fans?
Here is the website: http://tweeter.faxo.com/Best_American_Idol_Ever
Thanks.
Thanks for letting me relive all of these magical moments. A year ago I would have told you I could not like him any more than I already did. Not true. What a year it has been. So many gifts of his talent and his heart. I really enjoyed the picks here and I have other personal favorites too. Thank you David Archuleta. You are a treasure.

JR and desertrat -- great pictures! Thanks!
I just found out that my daughter-in-law knows Mandy, Jason Castro’s new bride. They were on the same all-star cheer squad. Small world, eh? Also, David had breakfast in Rockwall, at the ihop. My son and his wife (they were married last April 09 at the Hilton in Rockwall on the lake) bought a house in Rockwall in July 09 and live close to the ihop. We had breakfast there when we were there for the wedding (we are from Chicago). I squealed when I saw the picture of DA at the ihop…and texted my son saying how I missed a golden opportunity for him to get a picture, hee hee. I figure someday I’ll run into Jason on one of my trips to Rockwall & Dallas. I took a picture of the picture on the internet and sent it to him, LOL.
of course I’m just being funny when I said that about running into Jason. I love that kid, but I’d rather run into David!!
Nice blog; mentions David.

Fe #103: Me too!
Perhaps this has been covered, but I just watched a video at Snarky Archies of David’s DSB performance at the Sun Bowl. Somebody got a decent video…much better than that fangirly screaming in my ears jumping all over video. HOLY ARCHURUNS….that was absolutely EPIC I tell ya, EPIC. It is too bad it wasn’t televised to the viewers watching from home. It would’ve been such ‘a moment’ for David. Gettin’ all tingly just thinkin’ about it.
JR, I’ve done a remix of 2 of those videos for DSB (below). Are there better videos out there that I should’ve mixed instead? If not, I’ll post this link elsewhere too:
I don’t think this has been posted yet. Zero Gravity. It’s from the back but the audio is good.
Fe #102, it’s that six degrees of separation! Exciting!
Ronald cool! Thank you for the remix!!
Thanks Ronaldsf for the re-mix. I just love how David attacks and takes control of this song. Love how he pronounces each word and ends each line. He is so amazingly versitile. Each song he does, he creates something unique, depending on the song, like an artist bringing clay to life. I hope we see DSB again! Over time he seems to refine each new song, bringing out even more. What can I say! He has such an ear for music, I could see him being a producer some day. And of course as his writing will continues to develop and we are in for such a treat watching David continue to bloom.
I just read this at David Beyond Borders where someone compares David to a tree. It’s long but so beauitful (haven’t quiet got the hang of linking).
“Sometimes it can get like a little, like, whoa. Sometimes I’m, like, what is it that people are so interested in? Because I just feel like I’m me. It’s interesting when people take an interest in you and want to talk to you and be around you and get a hug from you and follow you to the shows. It makes me feel like there must be something more that’s involved with this, because it can’t just be me.”
–David Archuleta, December 2009
He runs offstage with a jump and a wave, and the moment the house lights come up, your heart drops. It’s over. How can it be over that fast? Weren’t you just chanting his name, jumping up and down, screaming at the top of your lungs while under the impression that he’d acknowledge your scream above anyone else’s? And as you gather up your belongings and scoot out of your row into the aisles, you look around and smile. You know exactly why you’re involved with David Archuleta.
What is it that people are so interested in? At first speculation, it’s his voice. Let’s look at David as a tree. Funny, yes, but a good analogy. The purity in his voice is the roots of the tree that grow and entangle themselves into the dirt depths of your soul, cleansing it and creating new life and new ties. These are roots that cannot be taken up; the purity will always be there, and unless the tree is physically uprooted, it cannot be moved.
From the roots, we move to the ground. The solid ground on which the tree stands is his morals and his character. “I just feel like I’m me,” David says. With a firm and unrelenting declaration, he clarifies that while he does not fall into the majority of teenagers his age, he still falls into the category of the average teen—goofy, talkative, excited, and curious. His character, though the surrounding environment may run it dry, though it may flood it with care, though feet may tread all over it, does not give up or cave in. The tree still stands unyielding on his morals and character.
From the ground, we move to the trunk. The trunk is the strongest part of the tree, the part that keeps the tree upright, keeps it from wilting, falling over, or wavering. The trunk of the tree consists of two ‘f’s’—family and faith. Consistently, frequently, David speaks of his family and how much family means to him. He says home is where the family is. He loves them unconditionally, even though they are probably the average set of siblings and have their quarrels and differences. But then there is his faith. David has placed a steadfast, strong faith in God, and it shines through every pore of his body. The spirit of God just radiates from the passion with which David sings. Need an example? Watch any performance of “Prayer of the Children.” David is a mouthpiece for God’s word. In that particular song, he is pleading for someone, anyone, to hear the prayer of innocent children looking for a better life, a safe home, and someone to help them feel joy again; it is not just his physical being pleading—it is a plea from someone not of this earth. The trunk of a tree upholds the tree. David’s family and faith upholds his life.
The trunk then gives life to the branches of the tree. These branches represent David’s music and career. Branches of a tree grow; they reach out and stretch to the ends of the earth, eager to grow. Every day, David’s career grows. Every day, there is a new interview, a new review, a new concert, and new information that places David in a more prominent position, a more well-known position, and a respected position. When children climb trees, they climb up the trunk and sit on the branches to see from new heights, to observe from a new vantage point. Inquisitively, people hear of David’s music. They immediately climb the tree, unconcerned with the roots or the trunk, and sit on the branches to hear his music. It’s a breath of fresh air—no screaming, no cursing, good messages… the music is unlike anything they’ve ever heard, and it’s not just from the music itself—it’s the voice. And soon, they begin to look down at the sturdy trunk that is upholding the tree. They slowly climb down the trunk, feeling every groove in the bark, noticing how large and strong the trunk is, and once their feet hit the ground—the solid ground of moral and character—they notice that the roots are dug deep into the ground. Like a chain reaction, they quickly become a frequent visitor to the tree. And then they bring a friend. That friend brings a friend. Soon, it becomes a daily visit full of excitement and wonder with new surprises every day.
But what makes the tree big and beautiful? What gives the tree its color, its shape, its liveliness? The leaves do. Each leaf is completely different. They may all look similar, but they each have one individual characteristic that makes them special to the tree. Each leave is attached to the same tree; sometimes the leaves touch, sometimes they flutter to the ground and get raked up. But each leaf is a part of the tree. Likewise, each fan is a part of David. No matter how big or how small, we are all significant to David’s career and music. He holds each one of us, but if we want to let go, we let go and fall to the ground. Yet he still appreciates the time you’ve spent with him.
What’s more, some leaves share a branch in the same way that some fans share a bond. David said: “It makes me feel like there must be something more that’s involved with this, because it can’t just be me.” David is the base of the interest, the root of the interest. Without him, there wouldn’t be new friendships or frequent traveling. Ever since we became fans, we find ourselves traveling all over the United States to places we never thought we’d visit. Those who were previously afraid of flying have braved an airplane just to be surrounded by friends while seeing David’s concert. Friendships formed online turned into lifelong personal friendships—and no, your online friend did not turn out to be an ax murderer. Our families and friends think we’re crazy, but we live in a whole alternate universe. We take off work, we skip school, and we get to the venue by any means possible. We sing loudly, we dance without inhibition, we cry with meaning, we hug like we mean it, and we smile constantly. This is how we know that the interest goes beyond David—the friendships we have formed speak volumes upon how he has affected our lives. We will never be the same. Friends that we’ve met through him will never flutter off of the tree.
You smile and look around. There are all of your friends, gathering up their belongings too, shaking their heads in disbelief at what they’ve just heard. They run up to you and start talking a million miles per hour about how incredible the show was. You look back to the stage where David was just standing. You know exactly why you’re a fan.
quiet=quite (why is it that I don’t spot errors until after it’s posted?)
Goboywonder, thank you for sharing this. It’s amazing the number of ways David touches and moves people!
Frankie Avalon comments on David:
Q. Is there anyone out there these days who comes close to the teen idol status you achieved?
A. There are a few. Justin Timberland. He’s extremely talented and I keep hoping he has a career that will last. I also like David Archuleta, I just saw him on a video the other day. He’s doing a lot of good stuff.

That beautiful tree analogy piece was written by 18-year-old Kelsey, daughter of Kristen who posts on Fans of David.
As I was strolling through some older Archie stories I ran across a line that if we had a category of favorite saying by a fan of David, I would’ve nominated this one --
“You’re the one that I want everyone to be!”
I found it to be such a beautiful & touching sentiment.
Pax
wow..I’m just in under the wire, and what a nice way to spend Friday night…but I gotta say…
When I saw the 2nd Annual Archie Awards first listed, I posted how “I LOVE THEM!” and was so happy to see them back…true dat. but…
Tonight…after only just beginning to peruse this most rich and wonderful second Archu-year of adorkable, heartwarming, vulnerable, random, silly and stunning stuff…I recall also…how “I HATE THEM!!” too…because I JUST HATE CHOOSING!!!! I mean it’s painful! But I’ll keep in mind we all know there really is just no BEST, and it’s just an excuse to review the moments we all loved and give DA the props he deserves..so with that… I’ll get back to biz here now…………….I better hurry…hrs tend to turn to minutes easily in this process! Later!
hi tdc! you may enjoy reading this -- i sure did…

Beyond 15 minutes of American Idol Fame
15 of the Show’s alumni who may have careers to stay.
David Archuleta (2008 Season Seven, 2nd Place)
At age 12, Archuleta entered the world of TV talent competitions, winning the junior vocals division of “Star Search 2″. After recovering from a bout of vocal chord paralysis, he took the plunge into the idol world at the tender age of 16. His pristine vocals soon won over a devoted teen audience, along with a good share of older fans as well. His self-titled debut album went Gold, and he scored a huge hit single with “Crush”. Starting out as a tour opener for Demi Lovato, he recently launched his own successful tour of mid-size theaters in support of his brisk-selling holiday album “Christmas From The Heart”. Archuleta is also a recipient of a Nickelodeon “Teen Choice Award” as well as an ALMA Award for “Rising Male Star”. Time will tell if his teen audience will stick with “Archie” for the long-term, but with one of the better male voices ever to come out of idol, our bets are on his survival in the industry.

ok…still in midst of video reviews here…as the clock ticks(hey…I take this voting thing seriously…I’m like thinking I’m in the “Acadamy” here..)…but I had to stop to post..
LOL!! HOWwwww did I miss the Cinnamon Mazeltov thing…I recall seeing the word game, but didn’t recall that part…may have only seen it once and maybe forgot…he issss priceless….and just funny in the most authentic way I’ve ever seen.
…but…as I sat there, LOL…….a moment of crystal clear David clarity…who was previously like…”whaat?…like…ok but how does this work?….”…Then, true to form…he SNAPS to attention in a nano-second when “Tatoo” comes up…and not missing a beat bursts into song response…showing once again, his true-north. I love it.
..So much…I think I gotta vote against my own submission of the Utah thingy….which I loved so much cuz of his wise and endearing self-deprication. sigh. This ain’t easy!
amb4dja, the agony is part of what makes it so wonderful! Make sure to vote -- the clock is ticking!
haha. agony? agony?!! u say so flippantly, TDC mocking me!
….almost done but Rockin’ The Houuuu’ and Hawwwwt had me in a quandry….
I mean how do you compare the wild abandon of Zero Gravity in Fla, with breathing fresh, fun, new life into Feliz Navidad, with the unexpected incongruity of seeing David rockin’ out with Kevin Cronan?!!…love that. (my crazy 80′s meets my latest (biggest eva’) music addiction. LOL!)
and the “Hawt pics”…please…I’m closing my eyes and pointing.
ok…done….any minute now……no..really.
THAT’S ALL SHE WROTE!
…no losers here, luckily…it’s allll good.
When David accepts his awards he needs only to say he’s just “honored to be in the company of the other nominees.”
..ok…i’ve exceeded my happy face allotment for tonight.
Have fun tallying!!
one last thing b4 logging out…
Re: Manila Vlog..
just after the exasperated sigh @
:47-48 deserves an “Eyes Have It” award all it’s own (new category for next year?)
The most sincere, “windows to the soul” 2 seconds in Vlogdom…and that…is a lovely soul.
Nite all~
