    FROM CARTERMATT.COM

    David’s new music video

David Archuleta recently recorded a new album of traditional Filipino music entitled “Forevermore,” and now we have the official music video for the title track taken straight from Filipino TV.

The video is just as tender as the song, and it helps to make you realize just how much we are ultimately going to miss Archuleta’s voice during his two-year absence in order to focus on his Mormon mission. It was just last week that David said his last goodbyes — and while there will be some more music coming out during that span of time, he’s not going to be around in order to promote it.

Kari mentioned during the Forevermore PressCon (nd while I was copying a video file for her), that David didn’t have time to practice for his number w/ Ogie & Regine. He came in late at the concert straight from a music video shoot.

That was how harried & hurried the OPM project was for David.

And I thank him for taking the risk and working that darn hard to have something to offer the fans while he is away.

ONE MORE THING FOR THOSE WHO ORDERED VIA MULTIPLY ACCOUNT:

Please make sure that you complete the VERIFICATION PROCESS by sending in a scanned copy of your credit card or any valid ID. At the bottom of the 2nd email that you should have received, it says:

” In order for us to verify the payment and proceed with the delivery of your order via astrovision, we will need for you to send us a scanned copy of the credit card holder’s valid ID (your real name) and the front side of the credit card (you may cover the last 8 digits for protection). This is a standard operating procedure to ensure that we are transacting with the card holder himself/herself and that the card was not used fraudulently.

This additional step may not be required in other online sites but since we are closely monitoring charge backs and refunds, this is something that we really put emphasis on.

You may send the scanned copies of the documents to this email address — verifyph@multiply.com and put in the subject line: VERIFY: PP, username, Php x,xxx.xx

We are hoping for your understanding and once again, thank you for patronizing Multiply.”

Failure to do so means your order is pending and not being processed. Which means you may ave to wait for a little longer for the shipping

Oh MARLIE, wait till you hear Rainbow, I’ll Never Go & Hold On

I know that Rainbow is the bomb (as Randy would say it) but the last 2 songs I mentioned were pleasant surprises. Cos I wasn’t keen on the originals. But David’s voice and his interpretation just elevated the 2 songs to another level.

And his low registers! You know about ’em low registers, right?

Am so giddy about this project. And to think they all did it in 4 days?!

Seamless OPM covers cap off David Archuleta’s Philippine ‘adventure’
    By: Rito P. Asilo
    Philippine Daily Inquirer

DAVID Archuleta’s “Forevermore” album is a must-own recording rarity, and a unique opportunity to present the beauty of Filipino pop ballads to the world—because it isn’t every day that a singing star of Archuleta’s caliber and hit-making cachet waxes an album made up entirely of OPM. And, we’re pleased to note that his “fling” with Pinoy music more than makes up for his underwhelming foray into the local telenovela scene on TV5.

No, it isn’t David’s intention to out-sing the repertoire’s original interpreters—after all, the vocal pipes of Regine Velasquez, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera and company are nothing to scoff at.

Take “You Are My Song.” The he-sang-she-sang versions of Nievera and Velasquez are similarly outstanding—so, the 21-year-old singer smartly veers away from bravura singing and treats it with less drama.

    Tribute

In a recent interview, he explained, “I wouldn’t say that I sound better than they do, because Filipino singers are amazing. But, through this album, I hope to pay tribute to them”—and that’s exactly what he does!

After David reimagines Side A’s “Forevermore” and makes its romantic tale his own, you’ll marvel at his sleek and smooth revivals of Neocolours’ “Maybe” and Nexxus’ “I’ll Never Go.” There are no false, awkward notes anywhere, even when he launches his exhilarating, but judiciously-rendered trills in complicated codas (“Hold On,” “Maybe”).

But, while it’s true that Archuleta’s reverential style makes his revivals seamless, it’s also responsible for the album’s only drawback: In some stanzas of Joey Albert’s “Tell Me,” for instance, his consistently structured phrasing and technical precision diminish the tune’s dramatic bite and evoke emotional detachment, instead.

Of course it’s excusable to find this problem in a Tagalog track—as in the case of the otherwise earnestly-sung bonus track, “Nandito Ako,” because the language barrier just makes it impossible for listeners to see the tune beyond its hum-worthy melody and the novel concept of having David sing an enduring local ballad.

    Style

The baby-faced “American Idol” heartthrob does better with South Border’s dreamy love songs, “Rainbow” and “Wherever You Are,” because of their freewheeling melodic structure and R&B mold—a style that suits his malleable but sinewy voice to a T.

Archuleta finds the perfect album-closer in Gary V’s classic ’80s ballad, “Reaching Out,” which he sings with unbridled passion as he hems and haws about unrequited love!

HERE’s SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO

‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Philippines’ – Builds homes, changes lives
    By A Web design Company

For the first time in the Philippines and Asia, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Philippines is finally set to hit the small screen. Based on the original Endemol international franchise, the Philippine edition follows the hit US version’s goal to change lives one home at a time.

With the promise of “Bagong bahay, Bagong buhay,” the show gives new homes and brings new hope to deserving Filipino families and communities whose life stories are bound to touch viewers’ hearts.

Each week throughout its one season run, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Philippines” builds a new home for a Filipino family whose members have shared much of what little they have to their community. While the family is treated to a much-deserved vacation, a group of dedicated people – led by seasoned reality show host and news personality Paolo Bediones – tries to achieve the impossible by completely reconstructing the family’s home in a short span of time. Apart from hosting, Paolo also takes on the role as a producer.

Joining Paolo are industry professionals who will be sharing their expertise in all of the program’s home construction projects. Collectively known as the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Philippines’ Design Team, the distinguished group is comprised of interior designer and socialite-philanthropist Tessa Prieto-Valdez, fashion model Divine Lee, professional interior designer Tristan Jovellana, and interior design consultants Marilen Faustino-Montenegro and Joby Belmonte.

Tessa brings her expertise and colourful personality as she helps decorate the beneficiaries’ homes while Divine trades her high heels for work boots as she dons the cap of Project Manager, making sure that everyone is right on schedule and right on track.

Tristan is the show’s carpentry and DIY-guy, in charge of special projects such as creating rooms suited to the needs of each family. Rounding up the Design Team are Marilen and Joby, whose knack for shopping and keen eye for details come in handy in the finishing touches that beautify each home project.

With a big project such as this, TV5 placed the directorial tasks on the hands of seasoned reality show director Monti Parungao. Direk Monti has done a handful of huge reality shows in the past which include “Survivor” Season 1-3 and most recently, “The Biggest Game Show in the World.” He also now joins TV5’s Creative Group, focusing on reality shows and programming.

Aside from its heart-warming stories and inspiring heroes, the show also features a roster of big stars to meet and greet the family. Some of the Kapatid stars you’ll see this season include Megastar Sharon Cuneta, Superstar Nora Aunor, and “American Idol” finalist David Archuleta.

Be sure to catch “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Philippines” as it debuts on April 15 after “Talentadong Pinoy” with a daily 10-minute primer airing on primetime starting April 9 on TV5.

Music Video Review: Forevermore by David Archuleta
Posted on April 3, 2012 by Viki

    Something worth remembering forevermore.

Originally performed by Side A, a Filipino band famous for making OPM (Original Pilipino Music) strong in the music industry, their hit “Forevermore” was sung by David Archuleta to make an album specially dedicated to his fans worldwide. They recorded the album “Forevermore”, a month after David had left for his mission in South America.

    Here’s the music video:

Thanks to Kari, David’s manager, for posting this on YouTube!

The first time I saw this video [just a while ago], I was suddenly awestruck for the fact that his vocals [and his flawless, ever-gorgeous charming face] were amazing. Honestly, as a person who heard the original song in local radio stations for years, David made a very satisfying rendition of it. I never thought that maybe someday someone I knew would kill the song straight to the top! Somehow, he made OPM make its name for the international music industry (or in fewer words, “he saved OPM”).

Plus, the music video itself has a simple concept, yes, and what I like here was David’s acting. Even though there were no props, human or non-human, and it was only David, his watch and his plants were repeatedly appearing on the video, his acting and facial expressions made it all possible. Possible? What I mean is the listener can feel the real emotions involved in the song, whether it’s the lyrics or the melody. David really made sure that to all those hearing the music and watching the video will also feel what he feels for the song.

Another thing that I just want to mention is that I didn’t really see the concept of “love” and “forevermore” in the video. But I guess it was all the matter of time to make the video, since David’s stay here can’t last long because of another album and his mission.

But it was all thanks to Side A. [And David for I began to appreciate local music.]

    Live and let live.

David Archuleta salutes Filipino artists via OPM album

By Rowena Joy A. Sanchez – Making an all-English OPM album isn’t just a special treat for his fans, but iit s international idol David Archuleta’s way of paying homage to Filipino artists.

Although the album “Forevermore” contains his renditions of some of the most well-loved OPM songs, the “American Idol” Season 7 runner-up does not intend to be compared with the original singers.

“I wouldn’t say that I sound better than the original singers because the singers here are so amazing. But I would hope that I could pay tribute to them with this album,” said he at the press conference for the album.

David is known for his soulful singing and this stems from how much premium he puts in conveying the message of the songs.

“You just try to do your best so that people won’t bother comparing you to the original singer, so that people just connect to your performance and the song and what it’s about. As a singer your job is never to be compared to someone else. You just hope that you can give justice to the song… and allow people to connect to it…” he related.

It was David’s first time to make an album like “Forevermore.” But unlike in his previous albums, he didn’t have as much time for recording.

He recalled recording “Forevermore” for just a few days, shortly after he came from Singapore for some engagements.

He lauded his producers Jimmy Antiporda and South Border’s Jay Durias for being “great musicians.”

“We recorded three songs in a day, not to mention Jimmy will also arrange the songs [and] right there and then we move on to the next song… It was really fast so I give big props to Jimmy and Jay for what they’re able to accomplish in such a short time,” David said.

The singer-songwriter admitted that he isn’t used to such a fast-paced process. Nevertheless, the venture made him realize how much he’s grown as artist.

“In my life I tend to be very slow. So it’s nice to know that I can do things quickly and still be okay with it. Sometimes I’d be like, ‘Ugh, I wish I had more time’ but it’s like, ‘You know what, we still did our best with the time that we have…’

“I’ve realized… how I’ve been able to make decisions a lot faster, how I’ve been able to learn what I want or don’t want, to have been able to speak up more,” said David.

Songs included in his album are the title track, “Hold On” (both by Side A), “You Are My Song” (Martin Nievera) “I’ll Never Go” (Nexxus), “Tell Me” (Joey Albert), “Reaching Out” (Gary Valenciano), and “Rainbow” (South Border).

In the same media huddle, Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-Aawit president Ogie Alcasid handed David a plaque of appreciation for recording an OPM album.

Since he won’t be in the country for the release of “Forevermore” in March under Ivory Music and Video, Inc., David did a pre-sale signing of the album last Feb. 13 at SM Megamall.

In spite of his tight schedule (he’s been in the Philippines for about a month already for various commitments), David manages to prepare spiritually for his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints.

Prayers, he noted, keeps him “in touch” with his Creator.

“There’s nothing like the power of prayer,” he said.

David acknowledges that his decision to go on hiatus for the Mormon mission has not been easy, yet he is certain “I have to go.”

“It’s something I can’t play out forever. For anyone going out to a mission, there’s never the right time to go because it’s always gonna be a hard decision to make, it’s always gonna be a sacrifice, but that’s the point of every mission,” he said.

I tweeted that they are neck deep serving the orders of international & local customers, the bulk of which they started shipping beginning March 28.

Kindly bear with them as they really didn’t anticipate -I was chuckling when I found out about this – the volume of orders. Plus we had a really looooong holiday just last week (Apr 4 – Wed half-day for most offices to Apr 9, Mon).
