American Idol runner up and pop sensation David Archuleta is set to release his new studio album “No Matter How Far” on March 26, 2013.
David is currently serving a two-year mission in South America for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. “No Matter How Far” features a mix of new recorded material and previously unreleased U.S. tracks. The first single, “Don’t Run Away”, produced by British music producers The Nexus (David Sneddon and James Bauer-Mein), will be serviced to the AC Radio format in February.
David reached second place on the seventh season (2008) hit show American Idol as one of the youngest to perform on the show at age 16. He released his self-titled debut album the following year. Both the album and its lead single “Crush” peaked at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 and the Billboard Hot 100 charts, respectively. “Crush” went on to sell over 2 million downloads. David has since released the albums “Christmas From The Heart”, “The Other Side of Down”, and the covers album “BEGIN.”. He was the featured vocalist on the Mormon Tabernacle Choirs’ “Glad Christmas Tidings” album and PBS Special in 2011, and released “Forevermore” an album of Filipino standards in the Philippines in 2012.
“No Matter How Far” will be released on Entertainment One.

Let’s start this “American Idol” notes with some breaking news straight out of the David Archuleta camp: the season 7 star is going to be pushing out a new album on March 26!
The announcement was made in a press release on Thursday that the new album, entitled “No Matter How Far” (see the image to the left), will contain some brand-new tracks along with some previously unreleased material to American audiences. (Sadly, there is no official track list available yet, so it is hard to tell if there will be any music on here from releases in the Philippines.) The first single, “Don’t Run Away,” is going to be sent to adult contemporary radio in February.

Season 7 American Idol runner-up David Archuleta is still serving his mission for the Mormon church, but he’s keeping music in the mix with a new album.
Season 7 American Idol runner-up David Archuleta is back on the scene with a new album coming on March 26. This will be the pop sensation’s fifth studio album and will feature a mix of new material as well as a few previously unreleased U.S. singles.
The new album is entitled No Matter How Far and the first single from the CD will be “Don’t Run Away,” a love ballad sure to please his American Idol fans. The song was produced by The Nexus, comprised of British musicians David Sneddon and James Bauer-Mein, and will be released in February ahead of the album.
What’s fascinating about this album release is that Archuleta, who is a Mormon, is currently serving on a two-year mission in South America for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In late 2011, the young singer announced to his fans at a holiday concert that he would serve his church and his faith with the mission.
He told a Salt Lake City audience, who first heard the announcement, “It’s not because someone told me I was supposed to do it and not because I no longer want to do music anymore. It’s what I feel I need to do next in my life.”
The news was shocking to some of his fans since he’s had quite a bit of success post-Idol. As one of the youngest contestants ever to perform on American Idol at the age of 16, he followed up his show success with a self-titled album. The album and his first single, “Crush,” peaked at #2 on the Billboard charts with the single topping over 2 million downloads.
Archuleta has approximately a year left in his mission in Chile. He’s made it clear he’ll return to music full-time when he’s back in the States.

We’re so into the current season of ‘American Idol’ right now, but let’s not forget about past contestants! They’re still making new music, and soon we’ll have a new album from one of our favorites!
David Archuleta was the runner up of ‘American Idol’s’ seventh season. Now his newest album will be hitting store shelves later this year. On March 26, you’ll be able to pick up ‘No Matter How Far,’ David’s latest album. The CD will contain a mix of fresh material and older tracks that were never before released. “Don’t Run Away” will be the first single from the album, and will be released in February! It’s been a long time since we’ve heard new music from David, and you can be sure that we’re more than excited.
Of course, who could blame him? David’s been away on a two-year mission in South America. He also teamed up with DoSomething.org for one of their previous Teens for Jeans campaigns. Last year, the artist released his latest album ‘Begin’ on August 7.
We can’t wait to check out David’s new music. We’ve been fans ever since he took the stage on ‘American Idol.’ ‘No Matter How Far’ is going to be amazing!

I’ve been monitoring the EL poll for a while now and here is so far the summary of our efforts vs the next nearest contender

David emphatically said at one time that that was it for Save The Day and he would never sing it again. Not sure the meaning but it is sad.
Hoping US Fans order from Amazon or US outlet as I heard WOWHD doesn’t report US sales. I’ve appreciated ordering Asian and Phillipine releases from WOWHD but really want David’s US sales to be reported to Billboard.

ZG was just on iTunes as an EP
SOT was part of that discombobulating distribution scheme for his debut album where this song was put up on the iTunes DeLuxe version for a limited time. So it wasn’t part of the standard debut album. It didn’t stay as a bonus track.
WFM -- again another rack not part of the standard debut album. Another bonus track on the Walmart ed only
Save the Day was just on the Japanese ed only.
That’s why they are included in the speculation list. Other artists do it all the time. Include one or two bonus tracks from previous offerings so it can be part of their current standard album.
What’s exciting is to hear the new ones he penned
Lots of folks wondering why David went the indie route this time. Well --
1. Which label will take him while he is on hiatus for 2 years. No major label will do that
2. Which label will be good enough for him that won’t turn him into a bieber-esque mold, just like what Jive wanted but failed to do
3. eOne maybe indie but has muscle and legs when it comes to distribution.
4. Going indie would give him the creative & marketing freedom he needs and longs for.
5. And let’s remember that a huge chunk of middlemen fees will be taken out by going indie
Am glad to note that another favorite Idol alumnus, Elliot Yamin is under eOne. His last album “Let’s Get To What’s Real” was released 2nd quarter of last year under eOne. His gold certified debut album “Elliot Album” was likewise independently released and spawned the hit “Wait For You”.

I’m loving all the media attention David’s album is getting. And I did pre-order from Amazon. You know I’ll do the same on iTunes when it shows up. I always buy one digital and one physical album

Have some of NMHF-related questions, given this:
1. Why use a 2-year old song as the carrier single for this album that has new recorded materials?
2. Is it because DRA carries the line “No Matter How Far” which is the album’s title and perfectly captures what David wants to impart to his fans at this juncture of his mission?
3. Fielding DRA to AC format makes sense based on its sound. But will this signal the direction that David will be taking when he comes back? AC over CHR? No more “poppish” sound, as David would say
Or is it just a strategic business choice, considering how costly it is to field a song to CHR?
Am not complaining, ok? Just trying to understand a bit of the decision-making process… But am excited about sending DRA straight to AC. Cos if this indeed is the direction he is taking,then that may be a niche he can thrive on and make full use of his soulful voice and R&B flair.
Speaking of R&B, I wonder how David will sound with “Don’t Tell me” as an adult. That’d be something, would it?

I am just thrilled with hw much BUZZ this new album and song are getting. With David away, you’d think it would be a blip on the radar, but no, it is hitting all the major media outlets, all the important blogs. And lots of chatter about it on those blogs in the comments.
David has a good team and great fans. Fans are making noise and media pick up on it.I suspect the DA Team is also promoting, sending out press releases, etc. and making this work. Hooray!
JR -- I think the AC format is a good one for David. Not so much a Buble or Grobin sound, no. But a good singer/songwriter sound that I think will develop when David comes back. That’s my theory, anyway, my gut instinct.

“Don’t Run Away” is a song by American singer-songwriter David Archuleta. The track produced by The Nexus (David Sneddon and James Bauer-Mein) is confirmed as the first official single taken from his upcoming sixth studio album “No Matter How Far” that’s scheduled for release on March 26th, 2013 via eOne Records. The song is scheduled for release on iTunes in February 19th. The official demo was leaked online last year.
